TAN CERCA DE TI, NACE EL AMOR #16 Part 1
Notes from the Couch
ELEAZAR
Eleazar and Vale never get to kiss because Facundo pops up asking them what they are doing there. Vale makes up a lie about looking for a lost earring when she was at the same location with her godfather and leaves. Facundo knows it is a lie.
Later at their home, Facundo yells at Eleazar telling him it is not time to get involved with a girl. He needs to concentrate on conquering the world. Eleazar is sick and tired of waiting to race. Facundo cites the example of retired motocross world champion Ryan Dungey who started as an alternate. When his chance came, he didn't let anyone stop him. He used the time he had spent waiting, to make himself invincible. Facundo will make sure that happens for Eleazar no matter the cost.
ROMINA
Marcos is angry with Romina becasue she lied to his face. She says she lied because she didn't want to put up with they way he is right now. He demands the truth. She refuses until he calms down. She will not be shouted at and interrogated.
Later Marcos has calmed down sufficiently for Romina to tell him about the tryout. It does bother him that she would trust Iván enough about her modeling aspirations. She explains that they work together all day long. She asks Marcos if he talks to the guys he works with. (DUH!) She explains that she thought she would do well but she got nervous and didn't understand what they really wanted. She ended up feeling ridiculous. She concedes that he was right. It is too late for her to be a model. Marcos thinks that it is good that she has that clear. He warns her not to lie to him about sneaking around with another man.
The next morning, Romina is ready to go running when Marco appears asking where his breakfast it. She tells him she has limited time so she either goes running or makes him breakfast. She has chosen to go running. He is upset thinking that she could do that for him. He does "help out around the house." That sends her ballistic (and me, too). She says they both live in the house and they both work, so he should be doing his share around the house just like her. He then makes it clear that she doesn't have to work. . . She informs him one more time that she is not quitting. She leaves for her run.
OLD LOVE
Kassandra tells her mother about the kiss!!! She dreamed about that moment for so long. Isaura says they both dreamed about that moment . . .
YOUNG LOVE
Claudia's mother Lorena tries to explain to her why she "failed" her eyes. She was young and fell in love with Facundo without really knowing him. She tries to warn her daughter that she is so very young to be making all these plans for her and Diego. Claudia insists that she and Diego are going to have their happily ever after and she will not end up like her.
Majo finds Diego at her house when she gets home. Iván orders vegan pizza with almond cheese. Majo and Diego clearly like each other. They talk about karaoke at the snack bar. Majo gets upset when Iván tells Diego to look after Majo at the bar.. Later she tells Iván that it is not easy for her when her dad who was absent from her life for 18 years now wants to run her life. That isn't happening. If there is no mutual respect, she will be moving out.
In the mean time, Claudia has been looking for Diego at his home and she ends up telling Kassandra about her love life. Joaquín ends up taking her and
Kassandra home.
Notes from the Couch

The next day Diego goes to the snack bar to chat with Majo. They share a laugh over Ivàn telling Diego to look out for her when it is she who should be looking out for him. Claudia walks in wondering what the joke is.
Vero tells Vale that she looks like she is is interested in somebody . . Vale confides in Vero about Eleazar over the pasta and salad supper (that she really likes a lot.). ( Meli and Dani are eating their supper in their room) Vale says she isn't in love. They guy is arrogant and thinks he is something special. Vero asks about the rest of him. Vale likes the rest of him a lot. Vero thinks that she is seeing something about him that he doesn't show to anyone else. That is how love starts when one least expects it and then BOOM everything changes.
VERO
Joaquín passes through the kitchen saying he will not be home for supper either. He tries some of the pasta and likes it. He asks Vero not to tell the children anything about his relationship with Kassandra since they know nothing of his personal life.
Consuelo talks to Vero about how things are going and ends up asking her if she likes Joaquín. Vero is shocked. Consuelo doesn't know why. Joaquín is a good looking guy that has his own charm. Doesn't he make her feel like a woman? Vero says no but cannot help but smile which encourages Consuelo to tase her about liking Joaquín, She tells her aunt about the kiss she walked in on. Consuelo thinks that of she didn't like him, she wouldn't care about the kiss. Vero shrugs and says that Kassandra is a jealous woman. She is everywhere he is and even at the house. She doesn't want any problems with her. Consuelo concludes she is falling in love.
Vero has a wonderful dream of her and Joaquín kissing in the kitchen.
Facundo calls and invites Vero out for lunch. She is having a hard day and accepts.
JOAQUíN
Joaquín confides in his brother Iván at the snack bar. Kassandra kissed him. He doesn't know what to do. She is his friend and she works for him so if he goes any farther, he will need to be sure that his feet are firmly planted on the ground. She is a smart woman who is open to helping him with the kids and the company, with everything. Maybe with time, he could build something real with her. It isn't love yet but that is a possibility. Maybe Kassandra would give the kids a sense of stability and safety. Iván can't believe he is talking like this when he always fled whenever the word commitment came up. He makes a joke saying the iceberg (Kassandra) has hit the Navarro ship which is sinking directly into the icy depths of eternal commitment.
After seeing the reaction of fear from the kids about him flying to Miami for the meeting, Joaquín cancels the pending meeting and loses a big deal for the company. . He explains that his family is his priority at this time.
Joaquín starts going through boxes and files in Luis', now his, home office. He finds the designs for a motorcycle that he and Luis were designing years ago. He looks at the project add thinks it could save the company.
Joaquín calls the accountant and there is no answer . . . again. He calls Kassandra and asks her to track him down. He wants the proposal that was made on a project from years ago. She, also, has been trying to contact the accountant to get the trimester balance. She will try to contact him again. He invites her out for lunch and she accepts.
WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE
Facundo and Vero arrive at a restaurant. In a few minutes, they see Joaquín and Kassandra arriving at the same place. and soon to be behind them in line. Vero turns her face away as Facundo tries to decides what to do.
FIN

I was riveted to the screen watching Joaquin and Vero's sexy interplay; I was shocked it was a dream. Drat! There was something so sexy about the way he removed her work glove; that kiss was AMAZING. Color me disappointed.
"Kassandra tells her mother about the kiss!!! She dreamed about that moment for so long. Isaura says they both dreamed about that moment". Good grief woman, get a life! Preferably, your own life :)
Did Marcos want Romina to spoon feed him too?
I hadn't understood anything about a meeting or that Joaquin pulled out because his flying would have upset the children. One of the many reasons your translations are so helpful and important.

There was a scene with two women I believe were mother and daughter. They were walking and the daughter was eating some kind of meat on a roll. I think I've seen the mother once but I have no idea who they are.
Facundo is abusive; I wish Eleazar would get away from him.

I, too, was disappointed that the kitchen romance was only a dream. Wah! Those two actors sure have chemistry.
I actually feel sorry for Eleazar. He seems like a good kid that has been bullied by his own father into being a bully.
The woman with the daughter is a friend of Consuelo who is most likely going to lose the business that her husband left her. Being honest, I chose not to cover that sub plot and don’t even know the the characters’ names. I thought that Uni would have clipped that plot out when they had to reduce the length of the episode. Guess not. :(
It seems like it is going to be a busy week on the novela with the way things are lining up. I didn’t like to hear that the moto cycle that Joaquín and Luis had designed could “save” the company. Things have gone south so quickly. Yikes!

Thanks Jarifa. I thought major was a vegetarian, not vegan, so I missed the almond part of the cheese order. How old is Majo supposed to be? Was Ivan involved at all early in her life or has he always been an absent dad. I'm can't make up my mind about him, I think he will end up being a bad character. I thought maybe the modeling gig was a red Herring. I agree, Romina isn't really model material, she doesn't have the tall stick model figure that industry seems to prefer. (I personally think she is prettier than the average model).
Joachin is right to give up on that Miami opportunity. Send Kassandra to make the deal or if the other company really wants the deal, come to him.

He never went to go see her until Joaquín paid for a trip to Spain so he could visit her when she was a little girl. After that, he never bothered to go back or, it seems, to have any real communication with her. Now, Majo saw him as a way to get out from under her mother's thumb and away from the police. I am also on the fence about Iván.
It is too bad that Joaquín lost that deal in Miami because his company just lost a huge order after they came in second in the last race. Not a positive trajectory where $$ is concerned.

Jarifa, thank you; I was a bit relieved the mother and daughter (meaningless) scene were people whose story hasn't been delved into. There are far more interesting characters (I was trying to figure out what the daughter was eating rather than what was being said although I failed on both counts) :)

Jarifa and Kat, Ivan is immature and self-centered but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt if he tries to become a better man.

Marcos gets worse every episode. There seems to be interest between Ivan and Romina, but I didn’t like how he sprinted her away to try her hand at modeling. Plus, he’s making moves on a married woman. I’d like to see Romina dump Marcos and just be independent for a bit.
I don’t like Eleazar or Facundo. Apparently his faults aren’t a big NO for Vale.
I also loved the dream scene and was disappointed when we realized it was a dream. They’re going to fall in love and then Joaquin will discover her lies. She’s at the point of being discovered but hopefully Facundo will rescue her.
This is a two swim meet week, so not sure if I’ll be able to keep up, may be watching the next day. Just know I appreciate your recaps, Jarifa.

As I've said, I am not interested in the love triangle of Marcos- Romina- Ivan .
Are we now hearing A love theme song when Eleazer and Vale are on screen together ? I think that Eleazer is going to become a good guy because of the way his awful father is treating him, and Eleazer and Vale will get a HEA. That would pair Hugo and Consuelo's daughter.

It bugs me that Joaquin has been easily turned around by Kassandra going blond and wearing a pushup bra. On the other hand, he's still smitten with Val even though she's wearing big glasses and a boxy uniform.

From the Warm-Up to the MAIN EVENT
Vero manages to put on her Consuelo glasses before she turns around to greet Joaquín and Kassandra. How odd that they all chose the same place! Kassandra feels for Vero that she is on her day off and she has to end up seeing her boss Joaquín. She even got all decked out. (Yes, Vero has on a full face of makeup and perfect hair) Vero explains she has a neighbor in the beauty business who gave her a quick" touch up." (word play: idiomatic expression: "manita de gato" (cat's little hand=touch up) Referring to the major change she sees in Vero's appearance, nasty Kassandra says it is more like a tiger's swipe (zarpazo de tigre) Joaquín thinks Vero looks like somebody else. She is pretty but considering her inner beauty, he likes how she usually looks. Facundo offers that he bought her outfit and shoes for her. Kassandra is not surprised because Vero would have to disguise herself in order to come to an exclusive place like this, Everyone is uncomfortable as Facundo and Vero are called to their table.
At her table, Kassandra cannot stop talking about how strange Vero looks and comments on the fact that Vero got Facundo to buy her things and then take her out to eat. . . Joaquín asks her not to put it quite like that. Facundo mentioned that he was interested in Vero. Kassandra asks Joaquín's opinion. He thinks that Vero can choose who she wants to go out with. He looks uncomfortable with the conversation. Kassandra thinks that Vero clearly doesn't belong at this restaurant but she does have to say that she and Facundo make an attractive couple. Joaquín agrees that they both look happy.
At her table, Vero effusively thanks Facundo for helping her out. He is impressed with how she handled the situation. He admires her for everything she is doing for her daughter. She goes on about his positive attitude and how she knows that is why dear God put him in her path. She feels like she is somebody with him. He tells her to get used to it. He has no plans on going away. He is going to take care of her like nobody ever has. She smiles. (poor thing can't recognize a date when she is clearly on one )

He tells Kassandra to call thier accountant Suárez to come in and explain it all. She tells him that his secretary says he is on a trip. Joaquín wonders if he committed fraud taking advantage of Luis' death. Kassandra agrees that could be the case. He talks to the bank in Miami telling them that he got a letter demanding payment of a loan that was never requested. He wants to see the signature of the person who applied for it. The bank sends them a copy of the contract. Suárez didn't sign but Luis did.
Kassandra tells him that none of the loan money ever made its way into the company accounts. Joaquín wonders if Luis told Suárez and that is why he is gone. He tells Kassandra to arrange for an emergency audit of the company so they can decide on how to deal with the situation. He also wants a handwriting expert to validate Luis' signature. One last thing, Luis' portion of the company that now belongs to his children is not to be touched. She starts to argue but he stands firm on that decision.

The argument is on, He suddenly grabs his chest and falls to the floor but he doesn't lose consciousness. He says he felt dizzy.
They take him to the emergency room where the doctor says he had a blood pressure crisis. There was a spike in his blood pressure due to his bad nutrition and stress. He is released with a prescription, a referral to a cardiologist and instructions that he is not to get upset and that somebody has to stay with him overnight. --Marcos cannot let it go that Romina has a friendship with another man so he pays Iván a visit. Iván might represent models but he represent boxers and he has a right hook that could drop him in one round. He advises Iván to stop putting stupid ideas in his wife's head. Iván explains that he was trying to use his contacts to help Romina. Marcos grabs him and tells him to respect Romina and furthermore, he and Romina have nothing to talk about. At work, Iván tries to talk to Romina about the photo shoot and Marcos' reaction but she has nothing to say.
--Eleazar is in Vale's room. She is not quite ready for a relationship. She is afraid to lose anyone else after her parents died. He solves her reluctance with a kiss. In the mean time, Hugo has brought his aunt Carmen some tulips and another bouquet for Vale. He knocks on her door and is more than surprised when he sees Eleazar in her room. Eleazar informs him that, as he can see, he is his competition here as well as on the track. Eleazar decides to leave.
Hugo can tell that Vale is falling for Eleazar. She asks if it is that noticeable. He nods. She assures him that whatever happens with Eleazar, Hugo will always be her best friend and she will always support him first when it comes to racing. Hugo leaves knowing he has seen the writing on the wall. He tells Nayeli about it all and she invites him one more time to give her a chance. He does admit that she always makes him smile.
--Well, it looks like the Vale's romance with Eleazar might be over for good. At the shop, he overhears Hugo telling Vale that he was back at the. eye doctor and his eyes are 100%. She jokes saying the only bad thing is that she will never be able to replace him in a race again. Eleazar is incensed and accuses them of robbing him of his chance. Vale makes it clear that Hugo told her to tell him but she decided on her own to race. In tears, she apologizes. He accuses her of stabbing him in the back. Marcos hears it all and goes to see Joaquín. Vale is already in his office and he tells Marcos he knows all about the incident. Joaquín is also perturbed that Hugo didn't tell him about his eye problems.
Joaquín talks with Vale and tells her that Eleazar is right. It was his turn as the alternate. He will talk to Eleazar when things calm down. He acknowledges that she is learning that actions have consequences. The important thing is that she recognized her mistake. He then tells her that the most significant day in her father's life was the day that she was adopted . He shows her a photo of her with Luis and Susana. He adds that he never saw Luis celebrate like that!
--Claudia is going crazy doubting that Diego loves her going as far as asking him if there is somebody else (with Majo standing across the room). After talking to Vale, she concludes that there is nobody else and decides to apologize to him. What she doesn't know is that Diego talked to Iván about his misgivings about her. He cares for her but they have been together forever. Iván encourages him to move on saying that Claudia might have been his first novia but she won't be his last.

I appreciate your explaining the loan (with payment now due) which I hadn't understood. If Luis' signature is legit (I'm sure that it is), why would he go behind Joaquin's back and what necessitated him needing more money? Given what we have been privy to, Luis having an addiction (gambling? drugs?) seems unlikely. Was he living above his means or is there a darker issue?

She feels like she is somebody with him"... Although her words and sentiments are cringeworthy, I have to be fair as from her viewpoint, Facundo has come off as being genuinely supportive. There has been nothing in his words or actions that would give Vero the slightest inclination that something is off. Thinking he is doing all this from the kindness of his heart will be a rude awakening once he starts showing his true colors.
Aurelio has unmitigated gaul. He STILL has not apologized and has no remorse for what he did to Vero. Demanding to be privy of every aspect of her life (which he almost singlehandedly ruined) Vero owes him nothing, let alone any explanations. Period.
Eleazar continues to lash out at every turn complaining how unfair and mistreated he is. While he undoubtedly has been greatly affected and influenced by his abusive father, Eleazar is consumed with a mean temper, reacting impulsively and angrily at every perceived slight. He is going to need intense counseling.
"Hugo leaves knowing he has seen the writing on the wall. He tells Nayeli about it all and she invites him one more time to give her a chance. He does admit that she always makes him smile". That's the best you can do Hugo?? Nayeli is a gem and if you have an ounce of intelligence, you will forget your pipe dream, namely Vale and see how amazing Nayeli is and thank your lucky stars she only has eyes for you.
"Iván encourages him to move on saying that Claudia might have been his first novia but she won't be his last". I think Ivan should stop dispensing advice and take stock of himself and his own actions first. While I'm certainly not a fan of Marcos, I did sort of smile at "Iván might represent models but he represent boxers and he has a right hook that could drop him in one round'. Ivan looked suitably chastised. Perhaps he will start to think before he acts.
Claudia is getting more desperate as she tries to hold onto Diego. Her dignity has evaporated; he needs to be honest and set her free.

Well, I have given up hope that Eleazer will be redeemed and end with a HEA with Vale. I was a teen, raised teens, taught teens ,and have Been around a lot of teens in and out of my house ...they are a lot. That has been true through the ages and is probably even more so in this fast moving time..
Hugo is cute with great hair ,but he seems wishywashy to me rather than laidback and easygoing the way I used to view him. Maybe we need a third choice for Vale. Maybe the writers won't match these young folks up at the end . aha..who am I kidding ???

It seems like she has really needed a father figure all of these years since her own father has been a failure. It is just so hard to watch her being so innocent. That being said, at least Facundo cringed at Kassandras' nasty remarks. Joaquín should take Kassandra's performance at the restaurant into account before going any farther with her.

Facundo is going to have a very good day aside from having to rough up his son who dared to come home bawling about being cheated out of his chance in the race. Slapping him, knocking him on the bed and choking him seems to do the trick in maybe convincing him that nice guys finish last.
Facundo's day gets good when he comes to Joaquín's office looking for him. He pauses at the door and BINGO! he hears Kassandra setting up an audit. It seems that a large quantity of money is missing. They have no idea where Luis put it. She doesn't want to tell Joaquín but the company could go bankrupt. He knocks and says he is looking for Joaquín, It is important. He notices she seems a little nervous. She blames it on strong coffee. He wonders if it isn't something else. She brings up "Consuelo" She didn't know he had such guilty pleasures. Facundo thinks Consuelo is fascinating. Kassandra cannot believe he would go out with a domestic worker. Is he playing out his own version of "María del barrio" (a famous telenovela). He asks her how she is playing Joaquín. Does she want the man or the fortune? She warns him about what he is saying. He says that goes both ways because she has no idea of who he really is. She cuts it short saying that she will tell Joaquín that he is looking for him. She points to the door.
Vale is on the "mea culpa tour" with Eleazar. She tells him that she didn't think about what she was doing when she decided to race and take his place. It was done on IMPULSE. Nothing that she can say makes things better. He tells her to forget about anything they ever had. She is inconsolable.
Romina is still wondering why her father and Vero fight all the time but neither of them is talking. She tells Consuelo that someday she is going to make them tell her.
Diego meets with Claudia. It sounds like he is going to break up with her starting out with how they don't get along. She cuts him off and takes the blame for everything. She will give him his space. She will be the best novia ever. He doesn't look convinced. Later, Majo finagles her way into the house to see him being super nice to Carmen. He is singing. She loves his singing and the song. He looks happy to see her.
Joaquín opens Luis' safe with the date of Vale's adoption. There he finds the original loan agreement and yes, it seems that the signature is Luis'.

Diego is happy that Joaquin is not going to Miami and he wants to do more at the company. Joaquín happily gives him the motorcycle plans that he and Luis drew up and that now he wants to revive. Diego will work on writing a proposal for the new motorcycle with Joaquín's help.
It turns out that Aurelio really is proud of Vale's serious journalism but doesn't like her wasting her time on a fifth rate piece of trash wirting about style and beauty. That does make her smile.
Nico says that Aurello has been getting really upset lately. He thinks it has to do with Vale looking for her child and maybe finding her. He asks if she has found her. Knowing the non-disclosure rules of he confessional, she makes her uncle treat what she is going to say as if she is making a confession. She "confesses" that she has found her daughter and what she is doing working as a maid at her house. . He thinks the sooner she tells her daughter the better because the truth doesn't wait for anyone.
Facundo's day gets even better when he runs into Iván at work and his mere presence makes Iván nervous. Iván tells him he is getting the money together so he can pay back the loan he gave him. Facundo tells him there is no rush but while he is saving the money, he would like to know that he can count on him for ANYTHING Iván assures him that he can.
At the house, Vero overhears Joaquín on the phone with Kassandra as she tells him that she has hired an accountant for the audit since it seems that the earth has swallowed Suárez up. Luis' signature has been turned over to a handwriting expert. Joaquín tells her about the original document he found and is confident that it is Luis' signature. There is no doubt that Luis put the company in debt. Vero is shocked and drops a plate. She and Joaquín both jump. She apologizes but couldn't help but overhear the call. She promises not to say anything to anyone. He tells that the info must be be kept private because it is very sensitive. He doesn't want the kids to know. He is still trying to digest that Luis, who was like, a brother to him did all of this behind his back. He says that he is going to need her as an ally and grabs her hands. She says that he can count on her and grabs his hands back.
In a few minutes, she brings him some coffee but neither of them knows that Facundo, who is still on his winning streak, is outside the doorway eavesdropping. Joaquín tells Vero that hopes he can find some evidence that makes this all one big mistake. She suggests that maybe he used the money to benefit the company somehow. He is happy that she wants to help out in solving this mystery. She asks how couldn't she with the affection that she has for him and, of course, everyone else in the household. He feels the same way about her and grabs her arms. They smile at each other He tells her how beautiful she looked at the restaurant Facundo is a lucky man. Being honest he prefers the way she looks right now. They almost kiss when Facundo knocks on the door frame.
Joaquín talks to Facundo about what went down at the race. He found out about Vale and not Eleazar being the alternate after the race. If he wold have known before, it never would have happened. Facundo reminds him that Vale is not registered or qualified. The team could be sanctioned. There could be issues with their sponsors. They could lose it all. Joaquín says he talked to Vale and she realizes what a serious mistake she made. Facundo asks what about his son? Joaquín plans on talking to him and Hugo. No, Hugo will not be losing his starter status due to his eyesight issue since it is under control. He assures him that his son will get his chance.

I think the lack of water in schools must be a real issue. This is the second or third novela I have seen where it is has been part of a plot. There are always some sort of PSA's or public interest topics in these novelas As for Facundo, I don't know. Since he is the head mechanic and everyone knows him, he could have an easy time maneuvering around as long as he stays out of Kassandra's way!!! That was quite a face off!

I guess she thought he was in the know. And now she’ll be spying for him! I was pleased with Kassandra’s handling of him. I wonder if she’s more aware of the kind of person he is. Facundo is oblivious. I wonder why everyone wants to ruin him. Jealousy?
Vale goofed big time and it’s hard to blame Eleazar for being mad at her. The way his dad treats him I guess we’re lucky he’s not punching Vale and Hugo. Although he has started a couple of fights with Hugo.
It’s hard to believe Romina doesn’t know the big secret. I wonder how they kept it from her. She might be kinder to Vero if she finds out what her dad did.

Susan, yes Julien is Rex's father. I'm not sure his relationship to Candelaria though. Gina has that rare disease that I've forgotten the name of that Aramis also has. Could be like Lupus or MS. That's probably why she fainted.
I can't believe that botched kidnapping attempt when Sofia went to.the abandoned factory. There were at least 5 guys and Grecia there. But Franco overpowered many of them. then gets shot in the buttocks and Sofia yells for help. I imagined that's when they should have finished grabbing her. This show is just so bizarre.
I couldn't follow why Vincent needs Carlo to marry Barbie. I think they need her money or connection to Aramis. It would make things easier if there is a guy for Rex, Carlo doesn't seem to be a bad guy yet, and she is Aramis granddaughter too so that may be the next plot line if Barbie won't cooperate.
Susan, yes Julien is Rex's father. I'm not sure his relationship to Candelaria though. Gina has that rare disease that I've forgotten the name of that Aramis also has. Could be like Lupus or MS. That's probably why she fainted.
I can't believe that botched kidnapping attempt when Sofia went to.the abandoned factory. There were at least 5 guys and Grecia there. But Franco overpowered many of them. then gets shot in the buttocks and Sofia yells for help. I imagined that's when they should have finished grabbing her. This show is just so bizarre.
I couldn't follow why Vincent needs Carlo to marry Barbie. I think they need her money or connection to Aramis. It would make things easier if there is a guy for Rex, Carlo doesn't seem to be a bad guy yet, and she is Aramis granddaughter too so that may be the next plot line if Barbie won't cooperate.
