I watched the recording of last night's episode, and here are a few of the things that happened. This time, it's REALLY a bare-bones list.
1) Fernanda tells Diego she admires him. Once more, he's sacrificing for others.
2) Jim tells Paloma that they're just friends. He says they're great in bed but a disaster as a couple.
3) José proposes (to ?) that they be socios. The guy tells him "I have two options, to join with you or kill you for $1 million pesos. He agrees to join with José. Huh?
4) Marlene tells Diana that Augusto is not the swindler Diana says he is. They also discuss Chucho. Marlene again tells Diana Chucho isn't for her, he's not in her league. Diana reminds Marlene that Marlene, like Chucho, gave up her education to support family (i.e., Diana).
5) Chucho asks Deivid to give him advice about women and sex. Deivid recommends that Chucho watch a porn video.
6) Nuria pawns the valuable ring and gives some of the money to Gabriela so she can help her sister in Venezuela. Nuria keeps some of the money and calls Ramona, asking for more pills. Ramona says she doesn't have any, she'll have to get some more. She'll call Nuria when she has them. Nuria should NOT call her.
7) Mateo proposes to Piochas that they kill José for the $1 million bounty. Piochas looks as if he now distrusts Mateo.
8) Fernanda tells Solas she needs a good lawyer to help her with a divorce from Augusto. Solas says he'll find one. He also says that Isabel should NOT stop being Camila Guevara.
9) Disgusto tells José that Diego is working with Circe as socios.
10) Porfi leaves Amanda and Ricas after visiting with them (visiting in spite of the fact that he was supposed to rest). We see two thugs watch Porfi leave.
11) Amanda calls Isa to tell her that two guys are inside their house and want her.
OK, folks, it's your turn.
Thanks, Juanita. You hit all the beats.
What a hoot that Mateo suggests going for the bounty on Joselito’s head.
Novelera, you warned us about Telemundo’s tendency for filler at this point. Jim and Paloma together again and then not seems like just that. After Jims’ post-coitus brush-off, Paloma is back acting snotty with Isa.
I know there are no Porfirio fans here, but I loved him sticking up for Isa in response to Circe dissing her in front of her family in the hospital. I think he said something like “Hey, we’re separated so what my wife does with her boyfriend is her business.” He left the kids to go back to his apartment to retrieve something, but it’s a mystery to me what was there worth getting.
Love the look on Joselito’s face when in the middle of the business meeting his potential new socio shows him on his cellphone that there's a price on his head. Too bad Joselito was able to convince him that he’d make more money working with him than killing him.
Diana seemed to convince Marlene to give Chucho a chance. Hope Chucho doesn't take Dievid's advice about porno. Chucho, check out Dr. Ruth or Cosmopolitan magazine instead to find out what women want.
Juanita, you are my hero! Thanks so much for putting something up! We really need at least bare bones each day to trigger our neurons.
Circe was absolutely disgusting to Isabel in the hall at the hospital. Isabel's behavior was perfect. I wish she hadn't given Circe the satisfaction of telling her she and Diego were over. And Porfi surprised me by saying that he and Isa were separated and she was free to have a relationship with anyone she chose.
Diego totally shut her down when he met her at the drug factory. I was short on time and didn't really re-watch many scenes. But Circe asked either Felipa or Ramona to find something out - about Isa??
I felt quite sorry for Paloma, but she's still being a jerk to Isa for no reason at all.
The scene with the guy pointing a gun at Joselito was just patently ridiculous and a plot device for him to find out about the price on his head. If any of those guys had shot José they'd have been gunned down by the Gaona guys thick on the ground.
I'm confused by the ending scene. They showed the thugs walking toward the house. But they also showed a guy in a car holding a cell phone. I fully expected the Colombian guards Jota Jota promised Diego to intercept the thugs. If there aren't any guards then Diego has been massively deceived.
thanks so much Juanita!
that was an odd show last night, bits and pieces,
nope, Deivid is not going to give Chucho a HAND with his sex life.
Paloma cries at being Jim's buddy, stops by the restaurant to taunt Isa.
Disgusto balks at the drug factory discovering Diego is now a partner.
Diego makes it clear to Circe he will be in charge of the strategy, the when and wheres, but he wants nothing else to do with the business.
Circe has discovered Diego and Isa have broken up, this means it's a sure thing getting Diego back.
Porfi hears of the breakup too, moves into Diego's room and into the middle of his family, but for some reason when he goes to his old place to get his things, calls Diego to meet him there.
as Porfi leaves Isa's place and 2 thugs enter, but wait, another watcher makes a call.
not sure why Salas insists Isa keep up the Falsa Identidad, nor why Fer needs a good lawyer if she is letting Disgusto take all.
Joselito lost his Colombian supplier is now setting up a deal with a Costa Rican one, apparently this country is ripe because they have lots of jungles and NO army.
(wiki- On December 1, 1948, President José Figueres Ferrer of Costa Rica abolished the military of Costa Rica after victory in the civil war that year.)
Gavino shows his new prison buddies (the guys that tried to kill him earlier) his goodies for sale.
Novelera and Deb, thanks for the additions.
I'm thinking the two thugs with the kids are JJ's men. Maybe the third one outside is from Salas?
It really is time for Diego and Fer to tell each other all the dirt they know about Disgusto.
thanks Niecie!
hmm, I don't think either Diego nor Fer know that Disgusto is bankrolling Circe, but Marlene does have a clue since the money is going through her account, I would love for Fer to reclaim all of his money and leave Disgusto penniless, killing him would not be enough.
Niecie, you may be right that the two thugs being there with the children is a red herring. But, if that were true, it doesn't make much sense that they'd go inside just because Porfi left. I would think they'd just be stationed there to make sure no one else entered the apartment.
So Jota Jota (in person, which surprised me) followed Circe's instructions and came in to apprehend the two thugs, who were indeed ordered there by Joselito. I got a kick out of Jota Jota playing some sort of game with Ricas and calming both children's fears.
Against Salas' wishes Fernanda signed the divorce papers for Disgusto. She's prepared to let him have everything in return for not making trouble for Diego. She should have gotten it in writing.
Diego and Porfi had a fairly civilized meeting at Porfi's cuchitril (hovel, pigsty). Diego says that it's Isa's decision whether or not to be Porfi's wife again. Of course Viewerville realizes there's very little chance of that happening in the end.
I'm afraid Isa might return to Babel after WBITW (worst boss in the world) fired her for leaving to protect her "kidnapped" children. That's the term she used to defend herself: secuestrados.
Gavino agreed to Mateo's request that he and Piochas kill Joselito and collect Circe's one-million-peso reward. But I think I remember Gavino wanting them to hold off and focus on getting the contraband he wants to sell in the prison.
Circe told Piochas she'd be delighted to pay them the reward, and Piochas tried to enlist Topo. I don't think Mateo would want to share.
I loved Joselito's face when Diego uses one of the thugs' phones to call him and he realized he'd been outwitted. Diego agreed not to picar the two thugs, I suppose they'll live to see another day.
The Costa Ricans aren't ready to jump into bed with Joselito and provide the "merca", seemingly because the bounty on him could cause the whole thing to go up in smoke.
Chucho's mother comes from whatever part of Mexico in which she lives. She definitely looks indigena (the preferred, polite term Mexicans use instead of indio). Diana drops in and gets to meet her. Chucho comes up with a decent lie about something they're selling to benefit poor people, and Deivid backs up this story. He's very sweet to Chucho's mother. I can't remember her name, if they ever said it.
That's about all I remember.
wow, thanks so much novelera, that was so nice of you to post a summary, and a very complete one.
the only thing I can add is Felipa went missing, and turns up visiting Gavino, he kind of snickers asking what happened to you, she replys life did this to me, all because of you... and i guess we'll get the rest of the conversation later.
JJ is scary to me because he is so quiet, calm, and deliberate, no hesitation, different than JoseJose who is on an emotional revenge bender, and snorting his own merc, while his own guys are lining up to do him in.
the episode ends with Diego saying to Isabel, "we need to talk".
oh and from the earlier episode, I guess the plan is for Deivid and Chucho to continue on with the gas business while Diego is busy.
Thanks very much, novelera, for your helpful summary of Friday's episode. You covered just about everything I can think of.
I was stunned and disappointed when Fernanda suddenly caved and signed the divorce papers. Wasn't it in this very episode that she tells Salas that she's not going to sign until she has a good lawyer? Yes, I know, she's afraid if she doesn't sign, Disgusto will make serious trouble for Diego, but still....
I hadn't thought that far ahead, but I suspect you're right that Isabel may return to Babel now that she's been fired at the restaurant. Not only does she have to have money for herself and her kids, she also needs funds for Porfirio's medical care and related drugs.
I too am not sure which part of Mexico Chucho is from, but his mother does include some words from an indigenous language when she talks to him. Telemundo provides the Spanish translation on the screen.
"Betty in New York", they filmed the pilot last month in Miami.
"Sin Senos si hay Paraiso 4", yep, filming is reported to have begun Nov. 5th.
"La Reina del Sur 2", big ED, (Yáñez) is listed with the cast.
"Señora Acero", completed filming of the Final season.
Thanks, Novelera.
Porfirio, that's not how it works. You don't get to have Isa's man back off to clear the path for you. You are on your own winning her back. As if...
Thanks to all who have provided recaps, summaries, highlights, and comments for this TN. I’ve been enjoying your interpretations and thoughts since the show started.
If I remember correctly Chucho is from Nayarit...beautiful state on the west coast...north of Puerto Vallarta.
