TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#1): Sed de Venganza, La Familia y más: Week of November 18, 2024
Here are the current telenovelas (all times are Eastern Standard Time):
9 - 10PM - Sed de Venganza**
10 - 11PM - La Familia**
**According to the Telemundo Program Guide, neither Sed de Venganza nor La Familia will be shown this Tuesday. Telemundo will show "Los 50" in both time slots. However, Zap2It claims La Familia will run from 9-11 PM on that day, with no showing of Sed de Venganza. Your guess is as good as mine.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!

Telemundo is getting on my last nerve. On Friday I had screwed up captions and this Tuesday my Guide shows a two-hour episode of the dizi. That's my night but two hours!!!! Depending on my frame of mind you might get a decent recap or you might get bullet points. Apparently there is a fan base for that idiocy with some dude in a lion's head.
Novelera - thanks for the Tues. night (2 hrs) warning! I'll check my listings, too.
It's odd to me that Hulya sent Cihan to Devin for therapy. Are there no others in Istanbul?
I thought she might have wanted Cihan to spy on Devin. I'm confused!

Dondi, that's really weird, since Zap2It for the West Coast shows La Familia running from 9-11. As I noted on the Monday Telemundo y Más page, Telemundo's Program Guide shows Los 50 running from 9-11 (and Zap2It running a 2-hour La Familia). Surely Telemundo is not going to run a 2-hr La Familia on the West Coast and no La Familia on the East Coast. Something is really screwed up.
Yep, this is very confusing. I don't look at zap2it and just rely on my DirecTV guide, which shows 2 hours of La Familia in the Pacific time zone, where I live. Is it possible they could do one of those reviewing where we are to date in the dizi for West Coasters; that is, showing key scenes of what's already been shown, to even things out?
I pretty much switched from watching novelas on Uni to watching them on Telemundo. I thought the quality was better, less poor girl meets rich boy, and it takes forever for them to get the HEA. The alliance between the Turkish production company and Telemundo has rewarded us with some interesting dizis. But it bums me that they seem to cut so much out of the dizis.
I can't believe either that they'd give the West Coast two new hours and the East coast nada for tomorrow night. We'll have to wait and see.
Well shoot. I published it in last week's post. 3 parts. Go read it there the few following it with me. If nobody finds it I can try to cut and paste it over to this page.
Main points . Gabriel knows the baby is Alonso's. Ana got safely away from Fern. Elisa is quitting her job and moving out. Roberto is more concerned about keeping his job and salary. She wants a divorce. Ana trades sex for pills from the assassin for hire guy that Gabriel uses. He has hired him again to off the in-laws. Perhaps the animosity between Alf and Adel was because of Alf's first wife.
And the piece de resistance is.... drumroll... Eugenio lives!
Monday, pt. 1 of 3
The last couple episodes were a little tough but I figured out how to turn on English captions! It’s not the way I prefer to watch these but I can make an exception for Mondays. I’ll still miss things since I type as I watch (no recorder) but maybe it’ll be better?
Aslan and Cihan talk to the wife of Suat and are the nicest mobsters around. They are less pleasant to Suat. They do explain that they would never shoot a woman- so maybe the patriarchy isn’t ALL bad- but that Ilhas will. The boys want their money and will then hide Suat and wife somewhere that Ilhan can’t find them.
But then there is Hulya. She is talking to Ibo about why Yusef died- protecting his family.
Back to Suat and the fingerprint problem with the power of attorney that was mentioned above.
Tolga reminds Leyla about the money he needs- 5 million LIRAS, he clarifies. So yay not dollars? only about 145k in USD.
Good news about the Serhat’s finger! Turgot has it! He cut off the thumb before sinking Serhat. Turgot seems like a dolt sometimes but he knows his job, I guess.
Ibo visits Ati and informs him that he is fired and Ibo is in charge of the station now, and Ati gets blamed for the mess that Ibo is in. The station will be his in a week. Ati calls Ilyas to tell him he hasn’t heard from Serhat. He is told Serhat is in Thailand, which Ati can’t understand given his work he has here. Seems like Ati knows what he’s doing (this time) and gets that he is causing more issues for Ibo.
Eko wants to pick up Yagmur to talk later tonight. Uh oh.
Devin asks Ebru, the maid, to bring back Devin’s chair to The Table and she does this in front of Hulya. Ha! They sit down for a serious chat. Hulya lets her know that it’s crime that ties Devin to this family and asks if anyone else knows that they killed Serhat? She tells her that the lawyer knows, his wife, and that either they will die or Ilyas will go after the family, including her and her sister. Hulya asks if she is willing to do what is needed to protect the family and Devin is like, What? Death is not the only way to take care of things? Then Aslan enters and stops the reset of the conversation. He’s not happy about this but Hulya says she was just welcoming Devin intot the family and then she leaves with a smirk on her face. Devin has had enough of this and she leaves Aslan too.
Next scene is Aslan asking about bbq. Devin can't believe he wants to talk food after the earlier conversation. He says well, you wanted to drop it. She just can’t believe he can be so “normal” after he had someone killed last night. He reminds her of their conversation when he asked if she thought he should be allowed to live and didn’t answer. She says you wouldn’t have done this if I had answered? She’s in a bit of shock now and worried about her family (like her sister, don’t think Hulya is included in her concern just yet).
Ibo calls Tolga and Tolga mentions the loan he wanted from Ibo. Ibo reminds him that all he has to do is get info from Aslan about Suat. No big whoop. When Tolga hangs up, he sees Aslan getting the grill ready and teaching Kaya (Tolga’s son) how to do this. Aslan says something to the kid that is probably important but I missed it.
Monday, pt. 2 of 3
Ceylan gets a call from Ati and when she hangs up, she tells Yagmur it was no one. Yagmur calls her “Bambi” and doesn’t believe that it’s no one. They have nice, sisterly relationship. They talk about the table Yagmur grew up with, where the family was there but not really together. She always wanted that.
And because that isn’t sad enough, Hulya is talking in front her brat of a granddaughter to the servant about how Yagmur will take her dinner in her room. The Table is for family and she’s not family. The dinner is delivered to Yagmur’s room while Ceylan is still there and the brat kid informs Yagmur why she’s eating in her room. Ceylan is ticked and goes off to let her mother have it.
Yagmur is in her room crying when Aslan comes to see her and sees the dinner on the table. She doesn’t want any more problems for him so she’ll be fine eating there, calling him cunado. (pretend there’s a tilde over than n). But Aslan doesn’t listen or say anything. He grabs her hand and pulls her out of the room. Devin is outside yelling at Hulya about this when Aslan and Yagmur come out – it’s Al Fresco Table time- and asks if anyone has a problem with this. Hulya says nothing and Ceylan offers her a seat next to her. So the family is totally godfathery, but they do take care of each other, or the siblings do, and Hulya has to sit there and take it.
At dinner, Aslan and Devin talk about going to the beach. Devin doesn’t’ seem in the mood but Aslan tells her they’ll go remember the good ole days (from like a month ago). They pack up and Aslan is packing the heat (a gun, if that wasn’t clear). He’s taking a gun to the beach trip. Maybe rough seagulls they have in Turkey.
Turns out Aslan and Devin were meeting her friends at the beach for dessert from a food cart. They see the gun that Aslan has and ask Devin about it. She says it’s just for protection and no big deal. Aslan is hanging back with the shrink, Ilkay, and asks directly if there is something he wants to know. Is it about the gun? Ilkay talks about being worried about Devin, she’s going to get hurt, etc. Aslan interrupts him, and when Ilkay interrupts him, Aslan puts his hand on Ilkay’s shoulder and tells him “don’t interrupt me when I interrupt you”. Funny mobster guy. He explains that he’s not like his father because if he were, Ilkay would be eating out of a straw right now. I think Aslan is defending himself but doing it in the most threatening way possible. They all group up again and Devin is eyeing a couple guys in a nearby car talking to each other. So she is going to get paranoid about everyone now? Probably.
Hulya has somehow gotten Eko to a table and is asking about Yagmur. He wonders how she knew. She knows everything and she asks if it’s serious. He says it is, referring to her as mother. She tells him she’s may not be his actual mother but she thinks of herself as one. Then she laughably says she’d never judge anyone by their past but she has issues with Yagmur. Eko says, while Yagmur listens from the hall, that he loves her. Then Hulya tells him he killed Serhat. Who will kill him next? Yagmur enters and they leave. They later sit in the car and talk about her past that apparently Hulya talked to Eko about. Yagmur asks if he wants to know how many men he slept with and asks how many men he’s killed. He’s not qualified to give her morality lessons. SHe refers to them as a murderer and a whore. In the end, she wants him to take her home.
Aslan has stepped away to take a call and Devin gets concerned. She looks at the people in the car again. A person on a scooter goes by and scares her. She starts calling out for Aslan.
Monday, pt. 3 of 3
Devin is very upset when she finds Aslan and he comforts her. She’s maybe not cut out to be a mob wife but too late. She tells him to never leave her again. That will make her shrink appoints tough, assuming she still has a career.
Yagmur breaks up with Eko “before it gets worse”. She gets out of the car and they are both sad. I’m sad too about this.
Tolga, the big dumb jerk, gets another blackmail threat on his phone while Leyla is asleep next to him. He quietly gets up and goes to the safe and takes a whole bunch of cash and a gold bracelet that has a name on it. She wakes up and sees and asks what he’s doing. “Nothing”. But she opens the bag and asks if he is really such trash to steal from his son. Guess it’s the kid’s birthday coming up? They fight and she kicks him out right before having another brain attack.
Back at the house, Devin and Aslan are in bed when she asks where he was? She mentions the two men watching them and Aslan accuses her of being paranoid. She notices the redness on his knuckles and asks how that happened. He chuckles and says it’s been like that all night from the grill. She doesn’t drop it. He sarcastically says it’s because he went to those men who work for Ilyas, pulled them out of the car, and beat the crap out of them. Haha. But no. He was on the phone with the lawyer. That’s it. She says good night but looks unhappy.
Next morning or maybe middle of the night. She is startled awake by a noise. She sees footprints, bloody or muddy, and follows them to the dining room where everyone has been shot dead. She screams and we’re out. Dream or not dream? Probably a dream. The show isn’t over yet. Right? RIGHT?
Plus we haven’t meet Nedret and this allegedly horrible son of hers. Do we know who he is yet?
Seems tomorrow is a futbol game of Peru and someone else I don’t remember. Colombia? Brazil? Double check but looks like there is no show tomorrow.

Kat in SC: I told all of y'all Eugenio is alive & well. Y'all didn't believe me!
Odds that Gabriel has Brenda killed down the road ? 🤔
K, I'm with you on using English CCs. Mine don't show up until 12 to 24 hours later though. So I'll watch this at baby nap time or at 8 tonight since the other shows have been preempted.
My guide shows la familia playing from 12-2 a.m tonight ( eastern standard time ) Not sure what episodes though. I'll not be up trying to watch that! I'll possibly add more after viewing but I love your asides.
K, I love your recapping style . You bring some levity to this grim tale with your clever snark. I havent had a chance to watch this episode yet , but I have Bern warned .
What a house full Hulya now has . ( Can I just call her Hula because at is what autocorrect likes ?)
Okay. A bbq at the beach. Sounds fun....but with these folks, of course , it isn't .
Asian seems to use food to self soothe, and we haven't seen him in thE gym.
Wow, Turgut is a proactive guy and thought ahead to save a thumb. I can't wait to see that scene. Did he show Aslan the thumb? Susan
All I can think about the thumb is how do you know which you need, and my thumb recognition on my phone doesn't work if I've been washing dishes or soak in a tub. I can't imagine how effective a dismembered one may be. Better use it right away.
Susan- they didn’t actually show the severed thumb, just referred to it. We don’t know if it’s been frozen or pickled to maintain the print. Or if Turgot would know that much. It might be worse if he did. You’d think they’d get to the safe right away but I don’t recall them being in a big hurry to get those papers. Or maybe it was left to Suat?
K
Thanks for the recap, K. Good stuff. “…cunado. (pretend there’s a tilde over than n).” lol
I'll assume we have no new episode tonight. I have Argentina v Peru at 7 - 9p and Los 50 9 - 11p. There is a 2 hr showing of La Familia at midnight. Probably a recap episode.
Turgut screwed up with that text to the lawyer, but he redeemed himself with the thumb. He's probably done that before. Kat, I thought the same as you about the print recognition. I’ll just tighten my beanie.
Hulya stirs the pot again. She can’t let anyone be happy. "A murderer and a whore are sitting in a car." Very interesting between convo Yagmur and Eko. More than anyone else, it's Yagmur that can't get over her past. I have no patience for the length and volume of her outbursts. (I also have little patience for Devin’s as well. But they don’t sound as bad in the original.) If Yagmur and Eko survive to the end, I think they will reconcile.
Ain’t easy being a mob wife. “That will make her shrink appoints tough, assuming she still has a career.” Maybe she can specialize in treating mafiosos. She already has “Sadık Hidayet” as a client.
Gracias, K. You made me smile with "nicest mobsters around." Yep, Cihan and Aslan work well together and know how to put a terrified wife at ease.
Suat probably wishes he had worked for nice guy Aslan instead of that despicable Serhat.
Aslan surprised me letting his gun show when he reached for his pocket to pay for ice cream. Was that intentional? Anyway, Aslan has some nerve telling Illkay not to interrupt him and not to talk about his marriage with Devin when he is the one who told Illkay to get it off his chest and say what he had to say.
There was an edited scene that struck me. Devin sees Tolga berating his young son because he doesn't speak. Devin interrupts, saying soothing, encouraging stuff to the boy. After the boy goes out, she tells Tolga if he ever does that again she will do to him what she should've done with her own father.
Tolga is a total idiot. Why not sneak in the bedroom safe when his wife is not in the room?
Poor Devin with her horrible nightmare. Hulya sure knows how to plant thoughts in one's head.
Excellent, funny recap, K. You always get me smiling. We need it after what, I assume, is Devin's nightmare. I've seen TNs and dizis that have them, but mostly they don't end the show before a whole next night of no episode for us to wonder if the sexy galán is toast.
You know who the absolutely perfect pair are: Ibo and Hulya. Whatever they had going on in the past, they both missed the opportunity for the perfect nasty, sadistic life partner.
Yes, I'd be surprised if Devin is worried about Hulya being on Ilyas' list. If she were my MIL, I'd consider contacting Ilyas and ratting her out.
Yes, the evil skipped a generation. Leyla's elder child, referred to in the recap as the brat, got Hulya's DNA unfiltered.
Aslan came up to Yagmur's room because he happened to walk up at just the right time and overheard the argument between Devin and Hulya in which Devin is outraged her sister has been barred from eating with the family. Hulya keeps her nasty lip zipped when she gets criticized by "golden boy".
I also loved "pretend there's a tilde over that n"! And...packing heat because of "rough seagulls".
I'm not so hard on Aslan as Niecie is about the interaction with Ilkay. I have a sort of feeling that Ilkay might have been put in the friend zone by Devin quite a while back and is jealous of Aslan.
Also very sad about Eko and Yagmur, but he didn't handle it well. He had earlier been trying to cope with some of her problems like the addiction. And he certainly thought he could deal with the escort business. But, in the end, his Y chromosome got the best of him and he sort of grilled her.
Devin's level of fear is not sustainable. I can't imagine how the writers are going to keep her from losing it more and more.
Somewhat belated thanks, K., for your terrific recap. This was a very busy day for me, and I didn't have a chance to post a comment until now. So I'm afraid I don't have much to add to all the comments that others have made.
I loved the fact that Turgut managed to chop off Serhat's thumb before they tossed his corpse overboard. I was at first quite impressed with his foresight. But then I wondered how did he know which finger to chop off. Right thumb or left? Or perhaps an index finger. Perhaps we'll find out tomorow whether he got the correct one.
As others have already said, your recaps include delightful bits of humor. I enjoyed phrases like "Aslan tells her they’ll go remember the good ole days (from like a month ago)." Also, "rough seagulls" and " She tells him to never leave her again. That will make her shrink appoints tough."
Yes, I too think Devin was having a bad dream at the end of the episode, but again, I loved the way you put it: "Probably a dream. The show isn’t over yet. Right? RIGHT?"
Again, many thanks.
Kat in SC: Looking forward to seeing your recap of last night's episode. Claudia keeps digging herself into a bigger hole with that twisted psycho she's dating.
Novelera: When do we expect the spin-off of "SENOR" to officially debut in 2025 ? Late May or early June of 2025 & I'm assuming it'll replace "FAMILIA" in the 9:00 PM CST timeslot ?
🤔

Alonso is sick with something ,this something may force Brenda to reveal the paternity.
I will do a recap Thursday. Still pretty bummed about the odd recent development of the captions appearing toward the left of the screen and a second or two late. I took a peek at Sed de Venganza, which I'm not watching, and it was the same.
I get frustrated having to back up a lot to comprehend better. We'll see how recapping goes.
Eugenio Beltran tells Alfredo he is back for what is rightfully his. Alfredo sputters, but you are dead...Fern appears shell shocked. Beltran's lawyers are there to do the negotiations.
FrankE is walking on air because Elisa has left Roberto as he shares the good news with Marcelo.he is ready to tell her who he really is...Marcelo says, and Fernanda? I sure wish someone was helping me with this show. I think he needs Fern to get proof that Alfredo is the one who killed his abuela. Are you sure it was him. Well practically. I guess the sex fried his brain and he bought her lies, hook line and sinker.
Roberto is complaining to Sebastian about Elisa leaving him for no apparent reason. Sebastian will try and talk to her.
Back to the boardroom where the will is being read which divides the estate between Alf and Eugenio. Alfredo tries to claim his father was senile when he rewrote the will. He throws in some insults to Eugenio's mother's bad blood. The lawyer says quit interrupting me.
Frank is not my idea of a galan...I love sex with Fern but not as an actual couple. My LOVE is for Elisa.
Adelberto seemed to have had a hand in finding the last will of Alfonso ( I guess Alfonso the younger was named after grandpa). In a FF or flashback scene, Eugenio accuses Alf of killing his mother. They come to fisticuffs with Eugenio getting the upper hand. (Ok, Alfredo has been a disgusting guy throughout. He deserves everything Eugenio throws at him. On the minus side of Eugenio, he manipulated Fern into killing Alf's first wife and making their child disappear. But in his defense, Fern is a really demented human being who would have ruined her daughter's life. Maybe he did Moni a favor.)
Claudia is with Ana (or is it Erika, I get them confused if they are not together) trying to convince her to return home. Elisa and Fernanda will protect her. Ana is petrified of Fernanda. She tells Claudia if Fern was not the killer then that means she killed her mother and that is something she can't face.
This show is such a pain to recap! The scene jumping drives me crazy. Now Gabriel is chewing Fernanda out because she told him Eugenio was dead. I thought it was the PI that told him. And they bounce back in time to the meeting with the lawyers. Alfredo's lawyer needs time to look over the papers, well meet back again at the same time, in 2 days?
Back to the 2 half brothers. Eugenio says he isn't the same man Alfred refused to help when his dying mother needed medical treatment. He now has resources and powerful friends like Adelberto.
Pyromaniac Fern is lighting matches in her office reliving the failed suffocation attempt on Eugenio.
Sebas is visiting Elisa and Tania. He tells Elisa running away doesn't solve problems. She says she needed distance to figure out her life. She's decided not to return to the family firm. Sebas is upset, she convinced him to return and now she is bailing! She feels bad for hurting Roberto but she sees no future with him.
Halimacandy: I just this awful & disgusting feeling that Ana might get killed off by the way things are trending.
Francisco: You OWN ALL OF THIS. You got her out of that hellhole of a so-called clinic for nothing.
Kat in SC: Eugenio & Alfredo are both disgusting scumbags, who will get their respective Karmas in the end. Big question is will both end up in prison or dead (see Pura Sangre) ?
PS: Francisco is STUPID for believing Goldie Locks' lies. We all know Goldie Locks killed Frank's grandmother & then torched the house. That crazy expletive blonde sure does love those matches.
Can you imagine if Tyler Perry was the executive producer of this Telenovela ? It would've had a massive body count (see Haves & Have-Nots).
Ana is in bed with goatee guy. She needs her pills. Sounds like she hasn't earned them. But if she wants to wait tables and 'please' clients she could earn more. She says I'm not a prostitute...(Sorry dear, you're doing it with him for drugs so you are).
Alfredo is talking with the lawyers and Gabriel is present. He says Marta (Eugenio's mother) was a bad woman. She entrapped him with a child, but dear old dad had ED also according to Alf. Well that hit home to Gabriel. The lawyers ask him if he knew anything about the other will and he swears he did not, I think.
Marcelo and FrankE ( my knee name for him) discuss the ramifications of Alfredo having to cede half the company to Eugenio. Their contract is with the company so their financial input is safe.
Fern calls her 'Therapist' Mirna to let her know Eugenio is alive. He totally ignored me at the meeting. She wants to kill him (again). Mirna councils calm and no, you can't kill him.
Adelberto and Eugenio are about to join forces. If they merge the 2 companies then Alf only has 25%
FrankE and Marcelo speak with their PI whose name I always forget, begins with an Ini think. They ask how is Eugenio alive. He says it was reported in the papers and he didn't look further than that. Oops. They decided they need all the info he can dig up on Fern.
Gabriel and dad plot Adelberto's demise I think.
Tania advises Elisa to divorce Roberto and pursue Emilio.
Ana gets to see her possible place of work and she wants nothing to do with it, but she really wants her drugs.
Fern is moving back into Alfredo's bedroom. They are in this together.
2 days later and the lawyers are back. Fern is given the cold shoulder by Eugenio and decides to skip the meeting to go see Emilio. Not sure what she told him.
Alfredo insists he knew nothing of a second will nor that he had a half brother. When Beltran presented himself after his father's death he believed he was an imposter out to bilk the estate. He refuses to cede anything. They can go to the Devil. Lawyers say we'll see you in court.
Fern and Emilio discuss the issue. Emilio says if Alfred knew about the truth he could end up in jail and then Fern would be free.
Mirna counsels Fern to call Beltran. Of course she knows his old number. They arranged to meet, and he mentions Mirna which shocks them both.
Fin
Kat, thank you for a snappy recap. Wow....so.many scary, dreadful people ,and now Eugenio is back for venganza . I didn't watch this episode , and now I am sorry I missed Eugenio popping up . Are we about to see Bad..Worse,,, The Worst ?? I guess we are going to see Eugenio torment Alfredo and Fern before he eats them for lunch. However, knowing how twisted these villains are, I suppose Fern will be bunny hopping with Eugene again . Will she drop Framilio or sleep with them both? Alfredo is probably out of rotaion. Maybe he forgot to take a number Susan
Devin has a nightmare that Ilyas killed Aslan and Yagmur. Aslan finds her sitting on the kitchen floor watching random videos. She asks him if the lawyer and his wife will live. He says yes, they have new IDs, passports and they will leave the country tomorrow, first to Bulgaria, then to Argentina.
Devin supposes that Ilyas won’t be able to find them. In order to protect Aslan, she sort of hints that the blame be placed on the lawyer. Aslan stares at her. Why are you looking at me like that, she asks. He replies, I’m looking at the monster I’ve created.
Aslan spots Tolga sleeping on the couch. What did you do to make your wife kick you out?
Hulya and Aslan discuss the lawyer and his wife. He’s determined to send them away, no matter what she thinks or says.
Hulya calls Ibo. She tells him that Aslan is going to meet with the lawyer to sign the contract. Ibo tells her his men have been following him. He will keep her informed. One of Ibo’s men gets word the meeting is at an empty factory. Ibo says, let’s go.
BTW, the thumbprint worked. Turgut says he cleaned it with alcohol before putting it in the safe. [tighten your beanie here.]
Cihan arrives with Suat and Buket. Suat hands over the signed contract. Isko hands Suat the new IDs, etc.
Ibo and his crew arrive at the factory and find out they’ve been tricked about the meeting location. His men are found tied up.
Turgut gets the call that Ibo found his men. We get the flashback to the outing with Devin’s friends. Men watching Aslan from their car. Isko calls Aslan—did you notice? Aslan excuses himself from the group. Isko has the men removed from the car and Aslan beats them up. The men don’t work for Ilyas, they work for Ibo. They are following Aslan to find the lawyer’s whereabouts. Aslan sets up the trap for Ibo so he will go to the wrong location. End flash.
Back to the factory trap, the writing on the wall says, “yeğeninden sevgilerle” with love, from your nephew.
Isko gets word Ilyas’ money has been transferred into the account. Aslan thanks Mr and Mrs Suat and says money will be deposited into their account, as promised. Just keep Ilyas in check until things have cooled.
Leyla tells Cemre what Tolga did. Cemre asks her if she ever considered divorce. Leyla laughs. She says she was in love with Deniz. All hell broke loose when her mother found out. Hulya told her, “I’d feel less said if you were dead.” Then Deniz had a car accident, and she was forced to marry Tolga. Like many other powerful Turkish families, Leyla explains, the Soykans are great at keeping up a farce. We can’t break with tradition. Divorce is not an option.
Cemre says there’s always an option. Life is too short to be unhappy. The same applies to Zeynep and Kaya. Are you going to let them go through what your parents did to you? Hulya is watching them from a window.
Aslan asks Turgut if he still has the thumb. Yes, he does. Aslan tells him to plant it in Suat’s office. We will blame him after he’s gone. Ilyas will need a target. Turgut exclaims, great idea! The devil himself wouldn’t have thought of it. Aslan gives credit to Devin for thinking of it.
Cihan hears that and comments, well, well, how convenient. Devin turned into a Soykan very quickly. Aslan gets angry. It’s none of your business! Why do you care? Cihan asks for a little respect. [In Turkish, Cihan warns his bro not to talk sh*t to him.] Is this how you thank me for my help?
Aslan fires back, I never asked for your help! He calls Cihan out on doing this so he can become part of the family again. Aslan continues, we stopped being brothers the day that Dad put the bullet in his head. Selametle, kardeş. He leaves Cihan standing there.
Next stop for Cihan, Devin’s office. She asks, did something happen? He replies, I came to offer my condolences. We lost Devin Akin. What nonsense is this, she asks.
Cihan launches into his explanation. When someone dies, their loved ones go through the 5 stages of grief. Today, I’d like to discuss the death of Devin Akin. I’ll take your role.
Cut to Tolga begging his blackmailer, if the video gets out, I’m doomed. I’ll send the money today. Flashback. Tolga overhears Aslan and Devin in the kitchen talking about the plan for Suat and his wife. End flash. Desperate Tolga calls Ibo—I know the lawyer’s location.
Back to Cihan playing psychologist. He says, the first stage is denial. The brain’s self defense mechanism. Flash to Devin upset that Aslan killed Serhat because she kept quiet. Cihan asks, have you been through that stage? Devin is silent.
Next, Cihan says, you’ll feel an inner fire that burns. Anger is the second stage. Flash to Devin angry that Aslan knew Serhat would be released, Hulya would help him and that he took that opportunity to kill him. Devin remains silent.
Let’s move to the third stage. Bargaining. Devin just stares. Are you there now, Cihan asks. Flashback. Hulya poses choices to Devin. When Ilyas finds out, Aslan and Yagmur could die. Or maybe the lawyer and his wife will die. How can you think death is the only way, Devin answers. There’s no other way, Hulya responds. End flash.
Cihan continues, then there’s depression. He offers Devin some advice. This is how I got through this stage. I went home alone, I sat in a corner and watched TV. I used to watch all sorts of crap. We see Devin on the kitchen floor watching a video. Cihan thinks that she’s done that, too.
Ceylan is with Ati and they’re high on drugs. Or at least she is. Not so sure if he’s faking. She says she’d like to slip some into the family’s food. Things get tense there. He asks, how are things at the house? You said your SIL was beaten. She’s doing better, Ceylan replies.
Do you know who did it, Ati asks, has he been found? Ceylan says she doesn’t know. Ati says he knows, and he was wondering if Aslan knows because his reactions tend to be… extreme. Ceylan answers, what would he do? Do you think he’d kill Serhat Korzuade? They both laugh. Ati asks, why are you talking about murder all of a sudden? I only brought it up because you said you didn’t know.
Back to therapy. Cihan thinks Devin has reached the final stage. Have you reached acceptance? Flashback to Devin’s idea of blaming Suat. Only a Soykan would think to blame the poor lawyer, he says. Devin looks at him and sighs. Bravo, doctor, you’ve become a Soykan. Devin Akin is dead. Long live Devin Soykan.
Devin asks, did you come just to say that? No, Cihan replies, I’m here to pay respects to the dead. And one more thing, everything is a mess now. You know that. There will be a war. An eye for an eye. If… anyone has to die, you…Aslan…Yagmur… don’t worry. You won’t die. I will die. I came to tell you that. I won’t do it for the family or from the goodness of my heart. I’ll do it because I have nothing to lose. I’m nothing. That’s why. Hadi eyvallah. Devin looks at the paperwork for keeping her name.
Mr and Mrs Suat are being transported to their destination by two men. They stop at a gas station so Buket can use the bathroom. Suat goes into the store. He gets a call from Ilyas. Did you sign the contract? Yes. Have you heard from Serhat? Yes, he’s in Thailand.
This is horrible. Suat becomes startled and turns around. He looks horrified. He ends the call with Ilyas. The driver of the car has been killed. Suat calls for Buket. Ibo appears—Suat! He guns down the lawyer. Buket emerges from the bathroom and screams for her huband.
Ibo shoots the other man who was transporting Suat and Buket. A henchie smashes Suat’s phone. Buket is surrounded. She begs for her life. Ibo has his gun aimed at her. He thinks back to his convo with Hulya—I don’t kill women. Hulya tells him he needs to do the right thing. We don’t see what Ibo does.
Ati gets a call from Ilyas. He wants to know if he’s got any info on Serhat. Ati says he’s asked, and no one knows. Ilyas mentioned he spoke to Suat but now he can’t reach him. Ati pretends to be concerned. Ilyas has a bad feeling. Ati asks if Ilyas is coming to Istanbul. He’s coming.
Day of the circumcision. Aslan and Cihan escort Kaya out. [hmm… which one is the kirve? Can you have two?] Everyone gathers for a family picture. Cihan quietly asks Aslan, have you heard from the lawyer? Nope. Cihan hasn’t heard from his men either. Their eyes turn to Hulya and Ibo.
Devin asks, Aslan, did something happen? We see an incoming call on a phone—Ilyas Koruzade.
A car arrives at the entrance to the Soykan estate. The guard says private property. The window rolls down.
Isko gets a call. What?!
Aslan looks at his phone and I guess he sees Ilyas called. Isko rushes into the party ordering men around. He runs to Aslan, Ilyas is at the gate and he wants to come inside. What do we do? Aslan asks if he’s alone. Does it matter, Isko replies. Aslan says to let him in. Be careful. Cihan and Aslan tell everyone to get inside the house. Lol, they say it’s going to rain. [rain bullets?]
Hulya asks Ibo if there’s anything she should know. Are the lawyer and his wife dead? Ibo says they are dead.
Ilyas car is let in.
Aslan rips into his mother. I told you to leave them alone! I told you not to meddle! I told you it was my problem! Devin walks out of the house and listens. Hulya fires back, he would have been found sooner or later! There are no witnesses now! Aslan is livid. He’s crashed Kaya’s party! I tried to keep us safe but now we’re an obvious target!
The argument continues. Devin intervenes. Is this the time to argue? Are you going to attack each other? Cihan agrees with Devin. Ilyas is at the gate. What do we do? Aslan, Cihan, Hulya and Ibo head off to meet Ilyas. Devin, too.
Ilyas gets out of the car and heads straight to Aslan. After the requisite dizi stare time, Ilyas asks, [Turkish] isn’t there a welcome, “aslan parçası”? [aslan parçası literally, piece of a lion. He’s giving props to Aslan. He considers him an strong, honorable person. I also hear parents using this as a term of endearment for a son.] Ilyas spreads his arms out wide. The men hug.
Lots of tension in the air. No one smiles. Ilyas greets Ibo. It’s been a while. They shake hands. Ilyas turns to Cihan, you’re still allowed to enter this house? Only at weddings and funerals, Cihan replies. Hulya welcomes Ilyas. Ilyas stops in front of Devin. She introduces herself as Aslan’s wife. He’s surprised and looks at Aslan. He extends his hand to Devin, they shake.
Ilyas goes back to Aslan. What’s wrong? You have guards everywhere. Is there a problem? We have friends, Aslan replies, but we still have more enemies. Hulya asks, why are you here, Ilyas? He signals for his man who retrieves something from the car. Your nephew’s circumcision, he answers, we brought gold. (It’s a gold watch.) Tensions do not ease one bit.
Leyla tells Aslan to stay calm, this isn’t the time or place. Aslan tells her he won’t lie if asked. I will tell what I did and why.
Ilyas puts the watch on Kaya. Don’t be afraid, he says, you are Yusuf Soykan’s grandson. Your grandfather could strangle a bear with his bare hands. Leyla grimaces and steps in, Ilyas abi, thank you so much. Devin pipes up, it’s impressive Ilyas bey, you traumatized a child in under a minute. Ilyas snaps back, [Turkish] it’s nothing like that, shame on you, gelin kız (daughter-in-law, bride). I was talking about a bear, not a person.
Ilyas turns to Aslan, am I wrong? I don’t know, Aslan replies, but I do know this isn’t the sole reason for your visit. Ilyas looks at Kaya and turns to Hulya, [Turkish] May Allah grant that he (Kaya) wears a groom’s suit, too. Inshallah. He says goodbye to Ibo. He tells Aslan, we’ll talk tomorrow. There are too many people around now. We shouldn’t do this at the family home. More staring.
Yagmur appears at a distance.
Aslan answers Ilyas, we can talk, wherever, whenever, and about whatever you want.
Ilyas notices Yagmur. He asks who is that? Devin speaks up, she’s my sister. Ilyas takes note.
In the car, Ilyas thinks that something obviously happened to Serhat. There are two possibilities. We made a big deal with Aslan and Suat disappeared. Aslan is option one. Ilyas’ man thinks that Aslan would have admitted if he did something. He would if he was his father’s son, Ilyas replies, but he’s been cleaning up for him the past 5 years. His efforts will be in vain. He has a mother, sisters, a wife, a fiery SIL. Too many people depend on him. A family is a burden on a man’s back.
Ilyas says let’s visit Necla and get settled. He asks his man to find Suat’s wife and report back.
Hulya stops Ibo. If you killed the lawyer and let his wife live, she will hand us to Ilyas. We get a flashback. Buket is begging. Don’t do it, please! Ibo aims his gun. We still don’t see what Ibo did.
Ibo’s hand is shaking. Hulya continues, if you hesitated, and she’s still alive, I’ll do what has to be done. Ibo answers, I told you she’s dead. Hulya hopes so, otherwise there won’t be a family anymore. If Ilyas finds out, our house will burn. Ibo tells her the lawyer and his wife are dead. Both are six feet under now! Ibo gets in his car.
That night, Ceylan demands to know why Ilyas was there. Leyla worries, we don’t need a blood feud! We killed his son and he shows up with a gold watch! Hulya says, stop talking nonsense. The walls have ears! Ceylan quips, we’re back to being a mafia family. Aslan explodes—Enough! I’ve had it! Go back to your rooms! But he asks Hulya to stay and talk.
And we are out.
Gracias, Donde. Last night was nonstop tension. Thanks for all the must-know details, but also the snark, like " Lol, they say it’s going to rain. [rain bullets?]"
Ugh, the __it has hit the fan. It's a good thing Ilyas has old-school gangster civility, at least for now.
Maybe this is a continuity or edit error, but I don't see how Devin could've pictured Ilya in her nightmare killing Aslan and Yagmur Tuesday if she just now met him.
Also odd that Ilyas called Yagmur "fiery" when she's standing there looking timid in the background. Has he done research on her?
Cihan must be very pleased with his depressed self to give Devin analysis and see Alsan about to sink. Cihan claims he's the one who'll get killed and he has nothing to live for anyway. What if he knew he's going to be a father?
Thanks, Niecie.
“…Ilyas has old-school gangster civility…” Hmm… honor among thieves? War about to start. I wonder what would have happened if Aslan went to Ilyas first? Serhat was scared stiff of his father finding out. He spoke about being disowned but he was also terrified if Ilyas found out he was skimming money.
Devin googled Ilyas and watched an interview with him.
Ilyas referred to Yagmur as “ateş gibi baldız” literally, a sister-in-law like fire. He must have info on her. Maybe he just didn’t know what she looked like. Those mobsters find out everything.
I don’t know if Cihan was “pleased with his depressed self”, lol. He seemed disappointed in Devin. And he’s a fatalist. He keeps foreshadowing his death. “What if he [Cihan] knew he's going to be a father?” I had the same thought.
Dondi, thank you for an excellent recap that provided each moment.
I don't know if I would have recognized Resat from Fatmagul. Makeup gave him quite an impressive facial scar. That hug he gave Aslan reminded me of the kiss of death.
A wild theory suddenly popped into my head .Perhaps Yusuf killed himself to save Cihan in an eye for an eye; tooth for a tooth " situation .
I always get the word Inshallah and the word MasAllah mixed up. Susan
Dondi, you gave us another terrific recap. Thanks so much!
On Monday I went to the YMCA for a cycling class. I used to go twice a week and got sort of sidetracked by the COVID shutdown of exercise facilities. Interestingly enough the instructor is named Ahmet. And he wore a windbreaker at the beginning with the Turkish flag on it. I spoke with him afterwards and we had a nice chat about dizis. He loved Kara Para Ask. I started that one, but didn't continue. I mentioned Fatmagul and what a heartthrob Engin is. We had a nice laugh about that. He had zero accent so maybe he was born in the U.S. I never expected to have a conversation about dizis with a human, not a cyberfriend like the ones here on Caray.
Hulya and Ibo...still the distillation of evil who should have been together. I hope they both get a fitting retribution. I can hardly wait for Aslan's (I think) dressing down of Mommy Dearest tonight.
That dizi flashback showing how Aslan really got bruised knuckles was so typical of how I've seen mysteries explained in other dizis (not that I'm an expert by any means).
I have a feeling there's going to be a big reveal about what happened to and with Yusuf before this is over.
I'm not sure I like where they're going with the lowering of Devin's ethics. And I definitely didn't like Cihan's long 5 stages monologue.
Is Ati's plan seduction or alienation of Ceylan from her family? Last night it seemed like he was working on getting her disillusioned with her family. Maybe he's too much of a coward to actually deflower her.
I liked "dizi stare time". Yep, it almost seems like that's written into the script.
So...am I correct that the Ilyas actor was in Fatmagul as the father of one of the rotten young men who raped her?
Thanks for recap ..Sed Veng#23?

Claudia, ??no, it was Erika. it was Mr. Ferm’s wife that was trying to convince Ana to go home. Erika response ...you were high or something ...really??...like that makes it better/excusable. well,if that was the case then why was she committed...?? Ana was the throw away child in that family....expendable...

I don't even have sympathy with Francisco/ Emilio anymore. he has lost the plot. a long time ago. he dropped the ball when he dropped his balls.
........Team Anna…. she's in my prayers because she was murdered twice. she was murdered emotionally/ spiritually and physically. The woman saw the murder of her own mother and her family made her pay the price for their maddness horror and image..
