Iker and Azul's Grand Plan
Iker and Azul plan a romantic dinner for Estrella and Fabián at the union office. They text each of them from Gabriel's phone that he want to meet with each of them. Estrella makes it clear to Fabián that she will go through the dinner to please the children but that doesn't change anything between them. When desert arrives, Estrella thinks it is time to leave. Fabián tries to romance her but she has decided that the only reason she stayed was to not disappoint Azul and Iker. They end up kissing but afterwards she says it was a mistake. It never should have happened. She is gone. They meet the next day in the morning on the beach. He tells her to pay attention to her heart. He will be waiting for her on the beach at sunset so they can view it together. She appears with a smile on her face.
Rosalba Returns!
Rosalba's money has run out and she is back in town asking Erika to give her a place to stay. Erika agrees only if she works at the inn. Rosalba refuses the offer. She runs into Meche and Gonzalo who is telling Meche how he is falling in love with her. Meche cannot believe she is back and they verbally spar. That night, Meche goes to see Gonzalo to tell him that she feels the same about him and Rosalba appears saying she is there to spend the night with Gonzalo. He tries to explain that isn't what is happening and that Rosalba has no place to stay because her daughter won't let her stay at her inn. Meche goes berserk and cannot believe he would do that considering what Rosalba has done to her. (I am wondering , too.) She leaves. Gonzalo comes by the next day with a large basket of meats and cheeses with a heart at the top. Meche isn't interested in seeing him. How could he let Rosalba stay at his house? He says she didn't stay. She only stopped by to use the washroom. Since she had no place to stay, he and Fabán (father and son dummy duo) decided to get her a room at a hotel for the night. Meche tells him to go and he does. He leaves the basket. Meche likes the contents and the heart on top. It looks like she will be forgiving Gonzalo when she thinks he has paid enough for what he has done. Later, Rosalba shows up at Meche's to let her know that she had a daughter by Ulises and that would be Erika.
Gabriel Will Support Marina Any Way He Can
Gabriel agrees it would be good to reach out to Nicolás to help search for Marina's lost son. Adriana doesn't think it is a good idea. She reminds Nicolás that he has tried so many times before and found nothing. She wants her husband back. Nicolás is not too sure he can ever trust her after what she did. He goes to Gabriel's to talk with him and Marina about his search for his son. He remarks that Marina is so different from his Antonia. She is so impulsive getting married to Gabriel only after a few months. . . Gabriel reminds NIcolás that a divorce from him will be easy enough for Marina to get. Nicolás, Marina and Gabriel sit down and they all decide that it would be best for her to return to where the hurricane hit to see if that can prompt her memory.

Sergio Has a Plan
Sergio is being pressured by his father to meet his granddaughter and her mother. Sergio assures him he has it all under control. He thinks back when he was arguing with Beatriz and accidentally caused her death by pushing her. His attention then turns to Estrella. He decides that he will force her to marry him and form a family with Azul. Whether he soon becomes a widower after that, will be up to her.
Everything Else
Juanjo is putting the moves on Brisa and she is eating up his attention at her place. Pascual overhears them. They toast to a close collegial relationship. He is sure she will go far. He puts his hand on her leg and they almost kiss when Pascual makes a noise and then appears. He informs Juanjo that he lives there. Juanjo is not pleased and wonders what is going on.
Yazmín is annoyed that Oliver made such a big deal about her "studying" with Javier and thinks that he doesn't trust her to to handle her drug problem. He insists that isn't it. She leaves in a huff. Later, Oliver and Valentín see Yazmín and Javier on the street together. Valentín comments that it looks like Yazmín and her ex are getting back together. Oliver says nothing but looks worried.
Fabián (unbelievably) accepts a dinner invitation at Erika's restaurant with her as payment for coming back to fix her leaky pipe. (WHY? Oh, yeah, he is Gonzalo's son) He never shows up because he is on the beach with Estrella.
Jarifa, another exercise in excellence. Just fabulous.
I literally understood nothing of the Marina/Gabriel or Marina/Gabriel/Nicolas' scenes. The first because I was bewitched and bothered by Gabriel's biceps, and the second just because I couldn't interpret the words. It did annoy me though that Nicolas keeps calling Marina "Antonia" as well as the fact he seems doggedly determined she remember her past pronto. In a way I can't blame him but I get the uneasy feeling he may not be willing to divorce her if things don't go his way. There is that secret he alluded to that still needs to come out in the open.
I think Marina CAN only make a decision about her future once she unlocks the key to her past by remembering her former life. I still wonder where she was all the years after the accident while Nico/Iker was growing up.
Rosalba turns up like the proverbial bad penny and immediately gets her tentacles into Gonzalo. I laughed out loud at "He and Fabán (father and son dummy duo) decided to get her a room at a hotel for the night". Even Rosalba's own daughter loathes her. I just want her to ride out on the broom she came in on :)
I did like Meche running to her goodie basket and pulling out what looked like some cheese. I agree forgiveness for Gonzalo is on the horizon. I loved the huge, chunky blue necklace she wore tonight.
"Fabián (unbelievably) accepts a dinner invitation at Erika's restaurant with her as payment for coming back to fix her leaky pipe. (WHY? Oh, yeah, he is Gonzalo's son)" was perfect and mirrored my feelings exactly. SO frustrating!
I loved Iker and Azul's little plan to reunite Estrella and Fabian. For someone who claims she won't forgive him, Estrella willingly accepts his kisses before breaking off with increasingly weak protestations.
Brisa, who views herself as sophisticated, with all the answers, is way out of her league with Juanjo. Pascual did her a favor but of course she will do what she wants (she always does) but he won't always be there to save her.
Sergio the snake slithers and plots as usual.
So Uni is bringing out the shears?? Sure, now that things are really rolling along, they decide to slice and dice. We deserve to see everything in its entirety, this is such a good show.
Jarifa, your summary was so well done, clear and concise and so informative. You add so much to my understanding and enjoyment of this every single day. Thank you!
Diana
I figured Atila would find Reha’s new house. And look at it! Those are some digs. Where did he get the money? He wasn’t able to do business with Hasan, and his developing deal with Adnan evaporated when Adnan went off to prison.
Up until this latest development, Reha was almost a comic character, he was so infatuated with himself and so inappropriate. Now he’s just plain evil. I was glad to see the kids aren’t enjoying their time with Kande and him. And here he is saying their not being able to see their mother is because the judge said so and he’s just following the law.
I thought Irmak would warn that girl in the nightclub that her guy is a jerk, but she didn’t do it. Also, it looks like the plastic surgeon or whatever he is really didn’t want to hire Filiz. I wonder if she noticed.
What were Tia Turkan and Filiz arguing about? I didn’t think Filiz was upset that her sister wouldn’t lend a hand financially. Or was she?
Imagine giving someone parakeets! They don’t really belong in a fancy kebab place. I wonder if Hasan’s hired help at home are going to be stuck with them.
It was satisfying to see Karsu slap Reha, but I would have preferred that she do some more chair throwing. Or jump him like she did Kande
I got the impression Hasan was thinking about liberating the parakeets. Definitely not good in a kebab place. Hasan is hoping by hosting the engagement party for Filiz neighbor at an unspecified price, tomorrow, he's hoping Filiz will attend.
I almost got the impression Filiz was worming her way into the Drs office as an unpaid employee to just have something to do with her days since her house is (no longer) full of kis and grands.
Pleasant not seeing Lale this episode
I actually kind of have to take the side of the law on the no interaction with Karsu and the kids. If the Mafia got a hold of the kids again because of her the CPS would probably be blamed. I don't like it, but in their mind they are protecting the kids. Atilla should never have gone to see Reha either. A phone call would have sufficed. Kudos to him staying cool and not escalating things. If Reha were a good father protecting the kids then calling the police on him was justified. Of course we know he's not a good father, but.....
Kat, I really agree with you that not seeing Lale’s smirky face was great! I also think Filiz misses her houseful! It wasn’t a good idea for Atilla to go to Reha. You can see him increasingly desperate to fix the mess Karsu is in.
I sent you a quick query on the daytime and more page, btw.
Babachita
Diana, thanks. I had watched the Univision promo ad for the episode online and when at 8:29 p.m. I realized that all of the content in #66 had almost been covered, I was unpleasantly surprised. It looks like almost all if not all of #67 has been covered, too. Evidently they are hurriedly paving the way for the NEXT novela as they always do. (I am hoping it is Monteverde with Gabriel Soto and Africa Zavala. I have seen a little here and there and it is a comedy!
YES! Please give us something funny in primetime! )
Anyway, it seems that Yazmín has relapsed in true addiction style. How long until her father or grandfather notice that something is wrong with her??? Will Oliver put his relationship in jeopardy to save her? With her addiction and Javier supplying her drugs, he doesn't have much of a relationship anyway.
"I think Marina CAN only make a decision about her future once she unlocks the key to her past by remembering her former life. I still wonder where she was all the years after the accident while Nico/Iker was growing up." ITA about Marina. She needs time to process so much. Her missing child is the key for her. Yes, her ten years of being out of circulation is the mystery to be solved.
"I loved Iker and Azul's little plan to reunite Estrella and Fabian."Yes! Iker was the director!! envisoning it all!!!
Yikes! It seems that Sergio is open to killing Estrella if necessary if she gets in the way of him having his happy family. That was a surprise to me. I never saw it coming.
Jarifa, we've been through slicing and dicing how many times now??? Yet, it still comes as a huge disappointment to me, especially on TNs I'm really enjoying, such as this.
That said, I'd be thrilled if Monteverde was next. I'd love a good comedy; I thoroughly enjoy Gabe Soto and like Africa...
Thank you for mentioning Yazmin; it was very upsetting watching her now that she "has relapsed in true addiction style". Oliver should alert Fabian and Gonzalo what is up as they are sadly failing to notice what is transpiring right before their eyes. Fabian needs to concentrate on his daughter and let Erika find another "date". I'm so disappointed Gonzalo backed off so easily the other night; he knew Yaz was in distress.
"It seems that Sergio is open to killing Estrella if necessary if she gets in the way of him having his happy family". That was important Jarifa, thanks. I hadn't realized that; he's even worse than I thought...
Diana
The child protective services have a good point, but those mafiosi types could probably snag a kid no matter who has custody. Reha hasn’t hired protection. I’m just thinking Reha shouldn’t present himself as all sweetness and light, just following the law. His main goal has been to get Atila away from
Karsu and to see her suffer big time. The ruling plays into his hand. He even married Kande, which he most definitely didn’t want to do and agreed Karsu can only see her kids once every two weeks, under his supervision. She doesn’t present a threat to them and should be able to see them much more often
Maggie
Thanks so much Jarifa, that was a great read. I love how it high my memory of everything that happened-like watching It again!
I did not realize Sergio was thinking killing Estrella was an option. I thought he was actually feeling remorse for the accidental killing of Beatriz. I wonder if there are other murders in his past. To think of killing as an option spells “killer” to me.
I would go a step further than like father, like son. I would say the mother/daughter duo use similar tactics to get their man. I wonder if Erika really is half sister to the sisters. I hope not. I don’t trust anything Rosalba says. She has a tough time with the truth. And shouldn’t she be arrested since she atole all that money.
The kids were cute with their dinner plans. But if Fabián has dinner with Erika something will go wrong again. Why does he trust her!
Brisa deserves whatever happens to her with Juanjo. She’s playing in the big leagues and is really clueless!
Last episode Yazmín was mad at Javier because of what the drugs did to her. So I was surprised to see her with Javier and didn’t realize she was using until I read your recap. That’s too bad.
Liz
I loved it when Karsu slapped Reha, but I wasn’t sure what he said to bring the slap on!
And I agree Atilla only made it worse by showing up at Reha’s. I’m glad he stayed calm, but he still got arrested. I’m hoping his dad has a plan! I think they need to figure out why he has all that money and figure out a way for him to lose it. Funny How he’ll spend it on the kids now but wouldn’t when they lived with Karsu. They could have starved for all he cared. I agree his main goal is hurting Karsu. I guess because she had the breve to leave him.
Liz
Loving the comments here. Also, my subtitles in Spanish say Hande, not Kande. I googled Hande and it's a woman's name meaning smile or laugh.
I am also wondering where Reha got all that money. When Atilla arranged for some factory of his to be blown up, I thought he was financially ruined. It's possible Lale shared some of the money she got out of Atilla in the divorce proceedings so he could escape her.
I also thought Filiz volunteered to spend time in the office of the guy who does...whatever...for free. I've always been unclear whether the guy is a plastic surgeon or a quack. And, yes, his face fell when Feliz wasn't coming back for more pricey treatments but wanting to install herself in his office.
I am tired of that pushy flower vendor. One thing about Turkish dizis, unless they are flat out villains, the men are always portrayed as courteous to a fault to any woman under any circumstances. Hasan can't seem to come up with a way to discourage Hulya.
Thanks, Liz. Things are really moving quickly.
“Why does he (Fabián) trust her (Erika)?” is the question if the night. I do not understand any of the men in this novela. They seem quite naïve. Yes, Brisa is waaaay out of her league. “Clueless” is being kind. Didn’t you bring up the possibility of Brisa and Pascual ending up together? You just might be right. They seem like such an unlikely pair.
I thought maybe Filiz says she’ll work for free but later she will want some treatments for free.
Stupid move by Atilla.
I remember that Selvi told Reha she found a new investor. Maybe that explains Reha’s business comeback.
I rarely comment on this one, but I do read the recaps which Thank you very much. What I have always wondered about is Pasquale. He has always seemed much more religious than Valentine. His mother is fanatic. While Pasquale never completed higher education, I think he could have become like a monk or priest helper.
Sorry I was an adult convert & due to wages of sin..I am not certain how those things work.
Nare23
Hasan has it right, Reha is a burro (donkey) . Whoever theorized that Atilla was given the job to kill Mert because dad knew he wouldn't go through with it was right. Atilla may be suicidal .I haven't watched many Mafia shows but Hasan is just a cuddly teddy bear that seems Ike he'd never hurt a fly.
Hande can't handle bed-wetters! I guess if she has that baby she was angling for a nanny would raise it.
Hasan names the parakeets Hasan and Filiz! How funny. And Dilaver has to bird sit them all night to break up any fights they may have!
Why does Filiz have to pay Lale? They are now renters so wouldn't the owner pay the HOA fees?
And the parakeets need a vet and Deniz a Dr. But it sounds like Reha diagnosed him and didn't take him to a Dr. So if Deniz gets really sick (sad to wish this on him) Reha and Hande could hopefully be ruled unfit parents.
Atilla telling mert to talk to Dad... getting even more bad vibes about Atila. Not sure it will be suicide but he may put himself in a deadly position going after the kidnappers of Deniz.
And now Atilla is leaving book title messages in the bookstore window.
Filiz finds a puppy with a broken leg, goes to the same vet as Hasan of course. And we see his generosity again paying for animal patients whose owners can't pay .....
One More Contreras?
Well, some how I could have sworn I saw Estrella meet Fabián on the beach but I was wrong. She calls him to tell him she cannot come because of something going on at home. Fabián isn't sure she was telling him the truth or not. He tells his father he will not pressure her but wait until she comes to him and she does that night. She tells him that Erika is her sister. She is still in a state of disbelief. She will be in touch. He is there for her.
Earlier at her visit with the Contreras, Rosalba tells Meche and Estrella that life is full of SURPRISES! (complete with finger snaps!!) Yes, Erika is a Contreras, one more of Ulises' daughters. She stayed quiet for 30 years so Ulises could play house with all of them. Estrella asks if she can prove what she is saying is true. Rosalba says if they do not believe her, they can pull a hair out of Erika's head and test it for themselves. She tells Estrella that on her mother's wedding day, she was already five months pregnant. Meche tells her to get out of her house. Rosalba corrects her. It is not her house but her daughter's father's house. She suggests that Meche change her tone. Rosalba will not allow her to treat her like dirt any more. She was Ulises' woman and the mother of Uises' first daughter. By the way she never stole a single peso from them. What she took, she and her daughter had coming to them. Meche and Estrella are in shock.
Meche tells Estrella that she remembers Rosalba was pregnant when she got married and soon she was pregnant , too. Estrella and Erika became the closest of friends. They say that blood calls . . . Meche cannot believe it. She feels so stupid. Estrella says the only one to blame is her father. Meche thinks there were signs. Ulises bought Erika the same bicycle for Erika that he did for Estrella. Estrella says no. She asked him to buy it for Erika who had nothing.
Meche adds that in spite of not having a lot of money, Ulises always paid so she and Erika could do things together. Estella says she might be right and Ulises was trying to assuage his guilt. Meche doesn't know how to deal with this. Estrella is having a tough time, too. Estrella insists that they have to be the one to tell her sisters and Azul before Rosalba does.
Estrella tells Brisa and Perla. They cannot believe it. Estrella adds that Rosalba said that Erika could take a DNA test. Why did Rosalba tell them? Meche says Rosalba told them to humiliate her, hurt her. She really did them a favor so they knew the truth about Ulises Contreras. If what Rosalba said is true, they have another sister. She is done talking about it. Estrella says they cannot ignore her like their father did. She is a part of their family. Her sisters are not interested.
Rosalba tells Erika the truth. She is Ulises' daughter. That is the last thing that Erika wants to hear. Her mother insists it is true as Erika cries and laughs at the same time. Why didn't her mother ever tell her before? Rosalba says she didn't want to hurt her. Ulises always denied that she was his. Rosalba says she was pregnant when he broke up with her, married that witch Meche as if they didn't exist. She is told Meche now because she cannot take the Contreras treating them like garbage anymore as if they were covered in lice. She says they deserve to be treated with respect like the other Contreras. Erika is in tears.
It would have been so different if she had knows form the start. Rosalba says nothing would have been different because Ulises had no intention of recognizing either of them. Yes, she is sure she was Ulises' daughter. Erika has no intention of ever forgiving her for not telling her.
Estrella and Erika have a tearful talk. Estrella tells her she never hated her like Erika thought she did. Erika tells Estrella how she always had everything she never had like a father to tell her he loved her and a mother who supported her while her own mother abandoned her like a dog in the street. What's more she had sisters and didn't have to grow up alone. She had a loving family. Then Estrella had to come back from Mexico City and Fabián had to start to notice her. Now she can tell Estrella pities her. Estrella denies that. Erika makes it clear that if she hated Estrella before, now she despises her with her whole soul.
Yazmín: Under the Spell Again
Javier drops her off at her house after an outing. She seems to be in a good mood. He wants to get together later that night. She says no. He says she will be needing more of what he has to offer and will be in touch. Oliver is waiting for her and confronts her and asks what is going on. She says nothing is going on and is upset that he cannot seem to trust her. She angrily reminds him that she told him she had it all under control, turns her back on him and goes in her house.
Fabán comes in from work and Gonzalo tells him that Yazmín was out to a meidical lecture today. She is in her room.
Fabián checks on her later and kisses her good night. She really isn't asleep but is fully dressed ready to go and meet up with Javier. She climbs out of her room and heads to the inn to met Javier. She needs something to calm her down. She didn't bring any money. He says he doesn't care about money and starts to kiss her. She wants to leave but needs the drug. She leaves and then returns and pays with kisses and probably more to get her pill.
As she approaches her house, she is met by Estrella who has just left after talking to Fabián. Estrella takes one look at her asks her what is wrong with her and asks why she sneaking around her own house. She notices she is trembling and her eyes aren't right. Yazmín begs her not to tell her father she was out. Estrella cannot promise that.
Marina
Adriana visits Marina in the restaurant and tells her not to have Nicolás go with her in search of his son. He has suffered enough already obsessed with looking for him for years. He ended up in a deep depression and on the floor. Marina says Nicolás told her. Adriana says she didn't have to see him. She was with him all that time. She is afraid that is gong to happen to him again with Marina dragging him into a search that he did already. Adriana knows Marina has to look for her son but she has Gabriel and Iker to do it with her. She begs her to not involve Nicolás. He has already mourned his son.
Brisa and Pascual
Brisa tries to expalin to Juanjo how she rents space at Pascual's house. It isn't as if they were "living together." It comes out that they sleep in the same bedroom. She says it is like living with her little brother. Juanjo loos at Pascual and doesn't see a little brother. Pascual introduces himself. Juanjo decides he has a virtual meeting with Sergio and leaves. Brisa is upset with Pascual. He says he was protecting her because he could see that her boss was ready to go too far with her. She say it is not his business. He says it is because she is important to him. . . . like any human being who deserves consideration and dignity and she is also Perlita's sister so he has to watch over her. She tells him to get over Perlita and goes to try to catch up to Juanjo.
Jarifa, your recap was a beautifully woven, intricate tapestry. This was an on the edge of your seat episode and you conveyed every word (spoken and non verbal) and action perfectly.
Rosalba's bravado was stunning in its intensity. "She was Ulises' woman and the mother of Uises' first daughter." I do not believe her for a moment! It was one egregious lie after another, lava spewing from her mouth in rapid intensity. "Rosalba says if they do not believe her, they can pull a hair out of Erika's head and test it for themselves". No shame, just unmitigated gaul.
For one very brief moment, Rosalba actually seemed to look a bit shamed as Erika cried her eyes out. But she has never loved her daughter, she loves only herself. And now, Erika's heart is hardened even further (if that is possible): "Erika makes it clear that if she hated Estrella before, now she despises her with her whole soul". Not an iota of sisterly affection to be found.
Watching Yazmin sink further into her addiction was hard to watch. "Fabán comes in from work and Gonzalo tells him that Yazmín was out to a meidical lecture today". Good heavens, open your eyes man! We can only hope Estrella and Oliver both talk to Fabian and do so quickly. Javier is indeed the devil.
Adriana is bereft of the slightest shred of humanity. She tried (and thought she had) to kill her sister, willfully married her husband and has now sabatoged what should have been a joyous mother and child reunion. Had she been smarter, she should have let the truth come out; it is obvious to the most casual observer that Gabriel has Marina's heart. Nicolas might eventually have forgiven her (maybe not), but she might have had a bit of a chance. Of course what happens when Iker is finally found to be Nicolas' son is yet to be written.
Brisa was pathetic chasing after Juanjo. I liked Pascual's intervening explaining "He says it is because she is important to him. . . . like any human being who deserves consideration and dignity and she is also Perlita's sister so he has to watch over her". He went up a few notches in my estimation.
I can't wait to see what happens next!
Just exceptional Jarifa. Thank you!!
Diana
I agree, Kat, that Hasan is a creampuff. This seems like an unlikely change. Before he was not only a ruthless mafioso, but also his sons were terrified of him. Two boys who were brought up together would know the general character of their father. We saw that Mart has a specific good reason in his near-assassination, but why was Atila scared enough he would marry under duress? And why would he even get as far as holding a gun to his brother’s head? We now see that Hasan knew he wouldn’t actually shoot, which is why he was given the job. I hope an explanation of why Mert was in so much trouble with his father is coming up. Were they maybe not scared of him before that?
Odd to name a pet after yourself. Also, that vet works wonders. The Filiz bird pecked all the feathers from the Hasan bird’s head and yet they return from the vet with plumage intact. I loved that Dilaver was to sleep on the couch to keep an eye on them and prevent any bullying.
I thought Filiz was freezing Hasan just because she was jealous but it seems she’s upset by the damage Hasan and associates have done to her family. I wonder what’s in Hasan’s letter to her.
Atila looks like he’s getting ready to leave town. I hope they don’t write him out of the story. The actor is so amazing – I was admiring his performance tonight. Plus I love the Atila character.
Maggie I think Mert was being "killed" for the infraction of not actually being Hasan's son. Hasan found out after raising him as his own that his wife apparently cheated on him and he had no idea. They never did say how the truth came out. Death bed confession, did Hasan have doubts and got a DNA test done? Sometimes those answers are revealed later on in this show.
Atilla could be leaving town, that's what he told Reha. I I actually thought Atilla was going to ask Hasan to watch out for Karsu. I expect her realizes he will be doing that regardless since he has a thing for Filiz. I expect we will still see Atilla somewhere else though, he is so central to the story.
Funny about the birds recovery. I was thinking the same.
I am also of the impression that Hasan was furious at finding Mert was not his son and ordered the hit by the one person he knew wouldn’t carry it out. Luckily, he was right. It’s hard to reconcile the creampuff with this avenging father.
I enjoyed the birds. Interesting Hasan doesn’t take action to disable Avian Filiz, such as killing or releasing the offending bird. Instead, he sets up round-the-clock protection for Avian Hasan! Hasan likes feisty females!
I can’t bear to write about Atilla.
Filiz seems to be thawing a little. Maybe she can run the “bookstore!”
Babachita
Thanks so much Jarifa, that was a great recap. I’m not sure why Estrella felt they had to reach out to Erika. And I don’t believe Rosalba for a minute. She would have raised a big stink a long time ago. It sounded like Rosabela had a bit of a reputation when she was younger, but she says she knows Ulises is her father. I’m surprised everyone believed her.
Poor Yazmín is set to ruin her life. Is she the only girl Javier uses just to give her drugs? I doubt he loves her, why would you want the person you love to be an adict. Let’s hope Estrella can help her. Ericka sure wasn’t interested in helping her.
Brisa has no pride in herself. She’ll be running after Juanjo just like she did to Gabriel.
I hope Marina ignors her sister. Nichols just may help her remember her past. I am really curious about the 10 years since the hurricane. I find it strange that Nicholas was given her ashes and wonder if Adriána was behind that.
Great recap, Jarifa.
Liz
Hasan has turned into one of my favorite characters. In the scene where the boys were young and had there report cards he seemed to be a living dad who gave them positive feedback.
Hande gagging at Denis’s bedside was a bit much! I thought he’d been sick, but to discover it was only urine. And she left him in it all night. How horrible of her.
Lale being so cheery with the women when she knows she’s destroyed their lives. She and Reha were raised by the same mother and are very much alike.
Hasan with the birds was so cute. He really cards for them! Reminds me of the verses in the Bible!
This is in the final chapters. I wonder if it will leave us hanging and how long we have to wait for the second part.
Liz
Thanks for commenting, Nare23. You made a very good point about Pascual: "I think he could have become like a monk or priest helper." He definitely has that religious "air" about him.
Diana, thanks. There is really a losers' circle as far as characters go, isn't there? For the life of me, I do not know why Fabián or Gonzalo have not noticed that there is something amiss with Yazmín. Somebody like Oliver or Estrella better tell Fabián like ASAP or will he situation wander to the back burner? I hope that Marina finds out what she can about the past and gets to settle her mind and settle down. "Of course what happens when Iker is finally found to be Nicolas' son is yet to be written." The adoption situation with Gabriel could go south real quick.
Liz, thanks. "I’m not sure why Estrella felt they had to reach out to Erika." You and me both. I am not buying the "but she is my sister!!!" justification. Some time ago, Adriana says that the authorities presented her with what were supposedly her sister's ashes. I could see Adrians lying about it to her own ends.
I was wondering if Adriana's claim that she was presented with Marina's ashes could be legit, especially if the body was waterlogged.
Wiki states it is possible for a waterlogged body to be turned into ashes through a process known as alkaline hydrolysis.
You learn something new every day :)

I am also getting bad vibes from what Atilla is saying to Cevdet and to his father. His asking his father to assure him that he would protect Mert if he were not around was especially sad. Since, IIRC, dondi told us there were two seasons, it's hard to imagine the show without the Atilla actor. He's especially attractive to me because I guess I'm an old fart who does not like all these actors with stubble. Atilla shaves!!!
Brisa and Pascual
Brisa tells Pascual how disappointed she is in her father finding out that her sister is Erika. Pascual says her father might have been a liar but that doesn't take away from the fact he was a great father to her. She asks Pascual to stroke her hair for her like her father used to do to help her sleep. He sits down on the bed and follows her directions. He smiles. Pascual wakes up with Brisa in his arms just as Valentín is coming by to visit him. Valentín smiles and cannot believe what he is seeing: his BFF in bed with Brisa!! Brisa jumps up not being able to believe that she spent the night in the same bed with Pascual. Pascual assures her that there was no intimacy between them. She answers that there NEVER would be. She thanks him for having comforted her.
Later, Valentín wants Pascual to tell him about it. Pascual asks what?? Nothing happened. He explains that Brisa was upset and how he calmed her down. They both fell asleep and that was that. Valentín asks why he is so nervous. Pascual makes it clear she is his roomie PERIOD. There is nothing going on. Valentín cannot understand why he wouldn't feel something with her being so pretty and some times walking around in only a towel. Pascual says his hormones are under control. Valentín wonders if that is a good thing.Pascual explains nothing could ever happen because it would be like beauty and the beast. Valentín doesn't agree. He can tell Pascual likes her a lot . . . loves her even. Pascual looks stricken.
Yazmín on Her Personal Road to Hell
Estrella tries to get Yazmín to tell her what is wrong. She only wants to help her. Yazmín says she is spoiling everything with Oliver, who she loves. It is only because she will do whatever she has to for those pills she gets from Javier. She shows the pills to Estrella. She just can't take it any more. She hugs Estrella who tells her she has support so she knows that she isn't alone in dealing with this. Yazmín isn't sure she can stop taking the pills because they make her forget everything and make her feel good. Estrella tries to convince her otherwise. She needs professional help. Yazmín is worried about how bad things will be if Fabián finds out. Estrella tries to explain how much her father loves her and wants her to be happy. Yazmín turns over her last pill to Estrella who offers to walk home with her and to go with her to talk to her father when she is ready.
Yazmín talks to Oliver. She feels so bad with the way she has been treating him lately. He doesn't deserve it. Oliver apologizes for not having trusted her. It is then she says he was right to not trust her. She failed him and herself. He was right to be suspicious. She was with Javier and not exactly as friends. She went to the inn because she needed more pills. She didn't go to any lecture at the medical school. Oliver sees that as proof that she is incapable of controlling her problem as she said she was doing. She tries to explain that she USED to have it under control but now the pills were stronger. When she takes them she doesn't have a problem in the world but when they wear off she suffers until she can take more. All Oliver can say is that he is angry with himself that he could not have protected her better from Javier who was feeding her that garbage to control her. Yazmín says it was not his fault. She admits she let Javier kiss her to get more pills. Oliver cannot believe it. He is ready to stop Javier once and for all.
Rosalba and Erika plot
Mother and daughter agree that they need to get revenge on Meche and Estrella for having taken the men they loved from them. They are joined in their hatred and Rosalba is sure they will be able to destroy them both.
Meche visits the restaurant and argues with Rosalba about who had the real relationship with Ulises. Meche says she was Ulises' wife and Rosalba was the other woman. She is sure that Rosalba got pregnant on purpose. She tells Erika that in spite of how she has treated Estrella, she feels sorry for her because of what she had to go through with Ulises being an absent father. Being Ulises' wife, she apologizes on his behalf. She knows it must have been hard. After Meche leaves, Erika assures her mother that what Meche said has no bearing on changing her mind about revenge.
Road Trip!
Nicolás comes by Gabriel's house to pick up Marina and Gabriel to go explore Marina's past. It turns out that Gabriel cannot go with them because Iker is sick. On their way to what used to be a beach home, Marina finds out that, in the past, she and Nicolás were inseparable and they used to work together. She was an architect and he is a civil engineer. They created the beach house together.
They arrive at the beach house that is in ruins. Nicolás says it was their dream house. It was their refuge where they spent their happiest times. Marina finds the sounds and smell of the beach familiar. She suddenly remembers Nicolás with their baby in his arms and him saying that he loved her. He was smiling at her. He thinks that his Antonia is returning. She stops him and says it was only a memory. She wants to go to where the hurricane actually hit.
Estrella in the Pressure Cooker
Sergio calls Estrella because Azul has told him about Erika being her sister. Estrella says it is nothing to talk to him about. He wants to know how she is planning on managing that complicated situation with Azul. He clarifies himself reminding her that she and Erika are sharing the same man. She answers that she isn't sharing anyone with anyone. He asks how Azul will feel when she learns that Fabián cheated on her with her aunt Erika. She tells him not to worry because it will never happen. He has no intentions of his daughter having to hear anything so offensive so he wants Azul to come stay with him in Mexico City. She thinks he is crazy if he thinks she will send Azul to stay in Mexico City with him. Sergio explains that he is doing his best to ask her in the best way possible rather than go another route. She wonders if he is threatening her again. He brings up the fact that Azul left the house and she didn't know where she was. She had left their town. She cannot take care of Azul because she is preoccupied with her own life, and her problems with that fisherman. She reminds him that Azul was coming to see him. He suggests that she let Azul come stay with him even if it is a few days so she can get her life in order. He doesn't want his daughter to be adversely affected. Estrella cannot believe he is pulling this on her after he had his tantrum and decided to leave town and his daughter behind. He informs her that if she will not turn her daughter over willingly, he will have to force her. She tells him to go ahead and try. He says their lawyers can talk. He doesn't like that she has been sidelining him when it comes to custody. She makes it clear he will not take her daughter.
Estrella Finds Yet Another BUT . . .
Estrella goes to talk to Fabián. She confesses that what she feels for him is stronger than any fears that she has had. She wants more than anything in the world to be with him BUT now it turns out that Erika is her sister. That changes everything because Fabián slept with her. He says he has no interest in her sister. He loves Estrella. She finds it all overwhelming. She feels bad because she loves him more than anyone ever BUT for her what they have is over FOREVER. His eyes fill with tears. He loves Estrella so much.
Next, she says she needs to concentrate on her daughter who is going through so much. She tells him to focus on Yazmín who really needs him. He asks her to explain and she tells him that Yazmín asked her not to tell him but she is going though a bad time. He needs to help her before it is too late. He is incredulous that his daughter could be an addict. She warns him that Yazmín is falling into a pit and if they do not help her, she could end up in a bad way. He needs to help her not in an angry way but out of love. Yazmín is afraid of how he is going to react. He cannot believe he didn't realize what was going on. He prays to God to help him.
Meche Gives Estrella Advice
Estrella says she is overwhelmed with everything now with Erika being her sister and Fabián. Her mother tells her there will always be problems but that she has accomplished what she came home to do. She saved the family home, the family business and even helped the fishermen in town. The time has come for her to concentrate on herself and her daughter.
Yazmín on Her Personal Road to Hell continued
Oliver confronts Javier "the miserable rat"on the street and tells him how disgusting he is. He has been taking advantage of Yazmín. He hits him in the face and knocks him on his butt. Javier gets up and says that Oliver should know that Yazmín came looking for him because he is a real man. Oliver swears he will not let him kill Yazmín. Oliver hits him again and pins him on the found. Fabián sees them and separates them holding Javier back. Oliver warns him he will regret it if he ever gives Yazmín one more pill. Fabián turns on Sergio informing him that his daughter is a minor and he will see that he ends up in jail. Javier hits Fabián in the face to free himself and flees. Fabián is aggravated with Oliver who knew what was going on with the drugs but didn't tell him.
Javier has decided he will not end up in jail and runs into Yazmín. Javier tells her that her father knows about her and the pills. He has gone crazy and is going to have her shut away in a rehab center. She says cannot take that! Sergio explains that the only thing they can do is run away. They need to go right now. She agrees and gets in his car not wanting to end up in the nut house as Javier puts it. He announces it is he and she against the world.
Nobody will take their freedom.
Fabián goes looking for his daughter. She isn't at home. Gonzalo hasn't heard from her. She isn't answering her phone. Fabián calls Erika but she hasn't seen her either.
Javier takes off and starts driving faster and faster and more erratically. Yazmín begs him to slow down but that is not happening. It is freedom!! Yazmín wants to go back home. He tells her it is too late for that.
Jarifa, the drama and suspense escalated with each successive scene. Your masterful recap illuminated and enhanced every twist and turn and so brilliantly. What a marvelous summary.
I am transfixed by the Marina/Gabriel/Nicolas triangle. Nicolas made no effort to hide the fact he was impatient and annoyed, shaking his head (with a bit of eye rolling) when Gabriel and Marina kissed and said their goodbyes. Yet, the second they were out the door, Nicolas came vividly to life, wearing a huge smile, bursting at the seams at the opportunity to help her remember her past.
Learning they worked together, designing their home "...their refuge where they spent their happiest times" seemed to clearly indicate they were close and "inseparable", and seemingly in love.
Indeed, Marina's memory is returning, remembering Nicolas holding their son. She seemed unnerved, as well she should. What else will she recall and will there be a point at which her affections may be redirected? I wonder what the writers have in store.
Iker being ill may become an important plot point.
I have to admit I liked the sweet scene with Brisa and Pascual. The poor guy has such low self esteem. Valentin was absolutely delighted to "catch" them and I was glad he tried to buoy his friend's non existent ego.
"Yazmín on Her Personal Road to Hell" was exactly right Jarifa! What a nightmare. Yaz, who is now a prisoner of her addiction, sits in (a now crazed) Javier's car, as it careens out of control. If only Fabian had figured things out sooner!
Estrella "...wants more than anything in the world to be with him BUT now it turns out that Erika is her sister. That changes everything because Fabián slept with her". Huh? I just can't...At least Estrella is holding firm with Sergio and not allowing Azul to stay with him. I'll assume he files for custody shortly.
Jarifa, it is only because of you that I now understand everything that transpires and I am so appreciative. Thank you!
Diana
Oh, that scene where Karsu was watching Atila’s videos melted me. Kleenex time! It sure didn’t help that my local station (or maybe Univision itself) decided to run a bright banner at the bottom of the screen advertising some awards show. Those ads are a real pain, and I sure wish they’d not show them during big emotional scenes.
It’s great that Hasan made up with Filiz. I know that he was being a gentleman to accept the flower lady’s dinner invitation, but big mistake! He had the perfect out – he could have just said he has to be at his kebab place during meal hours.
I liked that Irmak told the lady in the bar that her smooth-talking date was smooth-talking everybody. And then when Irmak told him his game was up, I liked that the writers first had him think she was hitting on him, and then showed him as not the least bit crushed afterwards. I think the usual way we’d see it would be him getting mad and stomping off, so I appreciated this twist. He’ll probably be back tomorrow with a new beauty.
Why is Mert so happy to move in with his father? Young men like to live alone and have their freedom. He jumped at the offer. And even hugged his father, who didn’t seem inclined to hug back, but finally gave him a few pats.
Just when we think Reha can’t get any worse, he surprises (horrifies) with some new dastardly deed.
Novelera – I so agree about the stubble on men! It seems to say – stay away, don’t kiss me! Imagine the beard rash a woman would get. So yes, hooray for Atila being clean-shaven.
Yes, the videos made me tear up also. I'm glad Cevdet went with him, he needs a friend. I'll miss Cevdet though. He would have done a great job running the bookstore. Omer gets to run the cafe though. He asked him a where her daughter was as he hadn't seen her in a while. Sounds like he is looking at other girls beside Ipek now. That will of course make him more attractive to her
All along Hulya kept saying how her flower shop was just across the street, now it's in some corner street with no good foot traffic. Right! She just wants to get her claws into Hasan.
I still think Karsu needs to obey the court order and stay away from the school. Get your affairs in order, look for a job. Most divorced couples need to share time with the children so she needs to realize that. She is looking like the wraith she was when Deniz was missing.
That was a nice looking lawyer. Is he single. ? Irmak or someone snatch him up. I still think Irmak and Mert may have a future though. They get along so well.
I think bar guy is intrigued by Irmak. She may be his next target, even though she knows he's a womanizer. Is her divorce final?
Reha is pond scum, and Hande too. Deniz certainly has her measure. I actually smiled when she took the uneaten breakfast and tossed it. What Reha's doesn't know .... Maybe they will become undernourished and that can be used against Reha.
Diana, thanks.
"What else will she (Marina) recall and will there be a point at which her affections may be redirected? I wonder what the writers have in store." Me, too.
This is a sad plot line because no matter what happens, at least one person is going to be hurt.
I thought it was odd that poor Yazmín is AGAIN in a car that looks likely to crash and that Estrella is finding ANOTHER reason why she cannot be with Fabián. Really? Makes no sense to me. Her thinking is as convoluted as Pascual's and Valentín's was.
Anyway, I will be watching tonight!
Thanks so much Jarifa. You bring the show vividly back to us the next day. Right now the good guys are struggling and I hate it for them.
I can’t believe Meche apologizes for her husband to Érica. And Estrella thinks the half sister thing is a reason to not get back with Fabián.
I don’t understand why Yazmín got in the car with Javier. He said her dad was going to put her in rehap but I don’t think he said that.
I don’t see how our triangle with Marina is going to work out with everyone happy. I’m hoping Nicholas isn’t as nice as he seems or she’ll remember rocky moments in their marriage.
Liz
Thanks, Liz. This novela sure is keeping my interest. "I can’t believe Meche apologizes for her husband to Érica. " Me either. I thought that was sort of odd myself. I would have thought she would have felt like:"let the chips fall where they may" knowing how miserable Erika has been to Estrella. "I’m hoping Nicholas isn’t as nice as he seems or she’ll remember rocky moments in their marriage." I definitely want to see what their marriage really was like hopefully in some flashbacks including Adriana. We need an answer to those missing ten years ASAP! : )
Yes, Atilla's videos were heartbreaking. And Karsu told her mother and sister that she had gone to his place to find it empty. So, it seems like she might have tried to get him to stay had he still been there.
I kind of loved the twist during Atilla and Hasan's conversation that Hasan, of course, tasked Atilla with killing his brother fully knowing he would not be able to do it. What still isn't clear to me is the contempt Atilla had that episode long ago when he came to Mert's hideout. At that time it seemed to me that Atilla felt that Mert did deserve to die, just that he wasn't capable of killing him.
It's hard to see where this is going to go for another season. Have they written off the Atilla actor? Can we stand a whole other season of Reha's spite?
