I wish I could tell you I'm in Hawaii, but nopis! Still here at my ranchito tending to my animalitos...no leeway for vacations, weekends, days off, etc., etc., etc...

I've been asked about the "Coming Soon..." pages, so I want to address that here. I don't have much time to do more than an occasional recap, comments, or monitoring of the blog; so I will not be creating/posting summaries of the upcoming telenovelas. BUT I do want to encourage and welcome anyone who would like to take over that duty :-)

Felipa keeps playing the blame game with Nandy: she is separating Kenzo from his beloved kids and hurting him in the process.

Esteban and Humberto pretend talk about Paz still hating Esteban. As soon as the phone gets inside the chips bag, Esteban tells his cousin the truth about him and Paz still being in luuv. Humbie is disappointed for a while but tells Esteban how Gin managed to put a tracker on him: by injecting it in his blood. They need to freeze him in order to remove it. Esteban manages to wrap his head around it, even if Humbie is not very reassuring, because getting his temperature as low as possible might deactivate the tracker, but it might also kill him in the process.

Telemundo is now announcing that the long-awaited telenovela with Fernando Colunga will finally be shown starting Monday, July 1 at 10 PM. Esteban joined the demonstration where he met up with Paz and got her to shut off her cell phone. He told her that Ginebra was a killer. He had to talk to her but she hesitated to believe him. Ginebra noticed the loss of connexion and slammed the laptop shut. Esteban told Paz he loved her, which she did not believe. As the women around them shouted for Justice they looked to leave the crowd. Ginebra, swearing that Esteban will pay dearly, called Mauro to order him to so something about this immediately. She then tried calling Esteban but only got his voicemail. She did not leave a message but said to herself “You are mine, Esteban. Mine. I will not let you forget that.”

Yup, Filipa spent the whole weekend in Humberto's bathroom and pops out full of pep, merry widow and all. Hum, having finally internalized that Paz and Esteban are endgame, decides to stop waffling and see how much (information) he can get out of her. As she keeps saying, they're both adults, right? In the biological sense, anyway.

Beat-up Bosco remarks to beat-up Pepa that the clothes he lent him are weird and super-baggy. Pepa gets a shifty look and says they belonged to...an amigo. (Not sure who he's referring to -- his Dad? Pre-Nandi?  A "special friend"? I guess we'll know when we know.) 

Suddenly the Robles start pouring in and things get wild.

Paz wants a few days off because she found her daughter and mentions sending her mother instead if it's needed. Esteban of course says yes and does the very wrong move of telling Paz he wants them to be friends; she screams there's no "them" and hangs up.

Bosco and Pepa have a discussion of their mutual trauma. Pepa says he thinks they should move past this and continue with their life like they want to. They both admire the tree Pepa has painted.

Paz snaps, slapping Humberto and shouting about no means no and you can't go around kissing ladies without their permission. He takes it well, apologizing immediately and promising to hereafter hang his hat firmly in the friend zone. The contrast between his gentlemanly sincerity and the memory of Esteban banging Fermin's head on the table like an underperforming bowling ball gives one pause, but everyone knows you can't choose your soulmate -- that's the scriptwriters' job! -- and hell, we're all under a lot of stress.

Before Bosco can act on his decision to proceed against Gio, Castro arrives with a couple of flunkies to arrest him. (How did she beat him to it? Doesn't Ginebra still have her by the cheeks?) It's a good thing the Only Police Station in Mexico City is so close to Esteban's house. Or maybe they moved it there, since that's where all the action is.  

Up on the roof, Gala tells Salo she and Jero are kaputski. He gleefully takes this opportunity to declare his love in the most loving, caring, supportive, patient, non-Jero way possible. She reciprocates. Kiss-kiss, cue the bubble-gum song.

Bosco goes to find Pepa and confesses to him what happened with Gio and that she says that he was the attacker. He doesn’t want anyone else to know, because who will believe that a man was abused? Everyone will make fun of him! Pepa confesses something similar almost happened to him while in jail. They bond over their mutual trauma, shake on it and call themselves amigos.

Gio arrives home, Jeronimo has been waiting for her, they’ve been in cahoots all this time. He’s upset because he couldn’t sleep with Gala, but he wants her to suffer long and hard because of her health problems. Together they start to prepare for setting up Bosco, Jeronimo starts strangling Gio hard enough to leave evident marks on her neck. She makes it clear that she despises Gala and doesn’t want to be in her shadow anymore.

Castro and several uniformed police arrived to arrest the people who brought the false Maria. The couple was cuffed. Their daughter got upset as Castro ordered that she go to the station as well. Paz tried to calm her but she resisted and ran back to her father. Elvira questioned the police presence. Saying it was an invasion of privacy. Castro explained that this is a federal offense which required their involvement. He told her she was obstructing justice. Reporters invaded with the usual cameras and microphones [Who invited them?] just as Elvira lost her temper. Fobo and Esteban managed tp move them back out of the room and closed the door. Ginebra said that she, Esteban. and Mauro to talk to the police. She then said that these people stole Paz' daughter. Castro said they wer going to the station Paz demanded the truth from the arrested couple. Ginebra said that she and Esteban wer looking to help her but did not call the police. She and Humberto followed the police out, Elvira looked concerned for the child.

We begin with Gin telling Esteban to call Paz and read this card she wrote to her.

Pepa has finished making the website (Wordpress, I assume?). Humb talks to Paz about placing the "se busca" signs in key parts of the town when...

Esteban calls Paz to read her the card Gin has written for him. Paz's fam urges her not to pick up, but she does. Esteban tells her her daughter María appeared!! Paz of course decides to go to the wedding. What's really weird about the whole María business is that there's literally no way to know which child she is, since she was stolen hours after her birth, so all these "se busca" cards with pictures... What's up with that? For all they know María could be a completely different kid. But I digress again...

Ginebra plays pretend about not knowing why Esteban wanted to gather the entire family. She doesn’t miss the opportunity to summon Paz with some food, asking her to serve everyone. Esteban, dead in the eyes, says he will start speaking as soon as Paz leaves and asks her to check on dinner.

Then he starts telling his family that life sometimes surprises you… he pulls out the ring, barely stops his gag reflex and asks Ginebra to marry him. Paz is not looking at them, but she hears everything and is shaken to the core.

The Robles are in a good mood, making plans about the restaurant. Paz is really cheerful, especially when some people from the barrio come to offer them help in the form of a loan.

Elvira is surprised both her daughters fell for the same man. Must be in the genes, careful, El!

But Gin didn’t know Bere was her half-sister, how could she know? Elvira has a hard time dealing with this, Gin says Esteban has been such a great help and she can love his kids as if she had a heart they were her own. But she needs her motherly help. El wants to help, but not with him, what will the kids say? Gin insists she deserves to be loved after the pain of losing her husband. She asks Elvira to help her connect with the kids, also. What if another woman gets close, someone like Paz? God forbid, this is Elvira’s no go zone. So, she kind of agrees… I think.

Paz goes to see the kids. Mauro gets pissed off, but Sam insists and Mauro lets them (Paz, Sam and Monito) in the garden while he's ten steps away in the door, but he doesn't mention the last bit. I wonder why. Sam tells Paz not to tell Mauro, but mom hit her again. But Paz, for whatever reason, after the kids gets inside, confronts Mauro about it. Girl!

Paz and Esteban are both in tears as Paz reports back to work. They talk about Gala’s food needs. The kids come back the stairs and are happy to see Paz, Elvira … not so much. She eventually agrees with Paz getting back to her old job, after the kids insist. Gala especially needs her help.

While still outside Paz called Samara. Monito told her while handing her the phone. Mauro watched and listened. Paz told Samara she got out of jail and Samara told her she wanted to visit her neighborhood. She told her that Cobija had been sick with a stomach problem. [Will someone wonder how Cobija got sick? They all know that Ginebra is a monster.] Paz reminded her that they needed to be patient and soon they will be together looking at the moon. She gave the phone back to Humberto who was impressed.

Salomón went to the office to see Gala while Porfirio went to see Lupita. Salomón wanted to get Gala back but she was not up for it. Porfirio found Lupita selling jars of freshly ground coffee with it and wisdom on the label. He looked at one whose label said “Never be afraid of what is about to happen.” He was looking for her and said he's like to have coffee with her.

Fobo visited Elvira in her office looking appropriately dashing in his black shirt and neat-invisible black sling. He was there for one more try at playing Rudolfo to her Contessa*. She was a little ill at ease at this happening in her office and she felt like a teen so she hesitated.... but finally agreed after hearing him out. [The jury needs to be polled about whether we want to see this consummated.]

It's that time again! Karmageddon arrives to deal itself to the evil ones we have discussed and analyzed to a degree that Freud and Jung would applaud. Evil is escalating every day as all the Deadly Sins (Pride, Greed, Wrath, Envy, Lust, Gluttony, Sloth) are committed. The usual questions apply:

Mireya gets a call that Paz's trial has been moved up, which she is disproportionately excited about. I guess it's good news if any wheels are moving at all. She wants to plan a big party to celebrate, but Lupe thinks it's premature. Then Kenzo shows up in a Miami Vice blazer and tells Nandy everything is on track for the change of gender in her official identity papers. Now it will be impossible to stop the party! Lupe gives in.  

Mauro tells Gin he hasn't been able to get into Fermin's safe deposit box to look over the incriminating diary/newspaper/whatever, so they'll have to keep him alive for now. Not sure why they don't just come up with a scary new threat, but thanks for the torture break.  

Paz gets hold of a phone and calls Sam on Monito's hidden cell. I was on the edge of my seat through the whole conversation, but fortunately with Monito serving as lookout they didn't get caught. Mostly it was just sentimental chitchat about looking at the moon and thinking of each other, etc. (Wasn't that a song?)

As if all the woo-woo surveillance already wasn't enough, Esteban talks out loud to Berenice's picture about his suspicion that it was Gin who killed her. Dude, she's in heaven and all that: maybe light a candle and write her a nice note? I'm not buying the whole animal-tracker thing, anyway. Even radio collars, which are large and up front, don't tell you what the elk are actually saying. 

He says he feels impotent. Well, we can hope.

Kenzo tells Nandy that he loves her. She can barely believe it, she’s never known love, only rejection. She loves him, too, but is afraid of being this happy. He is also scared of losing her or his kids because Felipa will do her best to ruin everything. They hug. Have we seen them kiss yet?

Paz is taking out her anger on a bell pepper. She is cooking and telling Emy about Ginebra’s visit. She is not jealous, she is furious, Esteban only used her, made a fool out of her. But it’s her fault, she wanted to fly too high, now she has to come back to reality. Emy listens to her but is more worried about Paz cooking while being this mad. She’s hungry. This is a woman who has her priorities straight. Respect!

More threats from Ginebra and Mauro, including the murder of Sam, Monito "and the dog if I feel like it". Gin points a gun at him and asks him to choose: life or death? They mention some sort of poison and antidote. Are they poisoning the kids and giving them the antidote? Because IIRC they mentioned them when Esteban told them they're going down. Does that mean that Sam and Monito will get poisoned and die if something happens to these two?

The opening scene is a rewind on the Lupe-Mauro slap, which is fun, and then Porfirio throws him out on his can, which is even more fun. Gala sniffs and says that Gema didn't say anything important, but she's clearly feeling it.

Gin admits to Mauro that she's in love with Esteban, which has never happened to her before, and you can tell it's true because she's really honked off about it. He points out that there is no HEA here because Esteban can't stand her, but she says she'll have him one way or another. (Are we sure she's not related to Gema?)

In the courtroom, everyone's playing Fun With Perjury. Paz is just a poor, deluded grieving mother who sees her missing child everywhere; Fefe is a good-for-nothing debtor/wife-beater who threatened everyone into submission; the rest of the Robles are clueless rubes and nobody doesn't know nothin'. Castro is called upon to confirm a number of details and seems gratified someone is actually listening to him. The judge sends everyone back to jail so he can take a Xanax think.

Paz isn’t sure she and Fermin should take full responsibility. Humberto states the obvious, the Roble family DID commit the crime. He and Esteban start quarrelling (not the time, dudes), but Paz eventually agrees with Hum’s plan. Too many people have already suffered, at the very least they will be safe. Esteban disagrees but stands by her.

Then Hum instructs Paz to start saying that she never knew Sam’s true identity, it’s important for their strategy. Esteban insists he will check to see if this plan is legit.

Mireya and Lupita find a woman (Emy?) who decides to protect them in jail. She does it for the money, she realized they are well connected.

When they are alone, Esteban protests against Hum’s strategy to have Paz take all the blame. At the very least he hopes Hum will be ready for trial. And he kind of implies that Hum doesn’t have the entire story about him and Porfirio not speaking.

Sam and Mauro are having playtime out on the lawn when she asks him if he really loves her. He assures her with tears in his eyes that he really, really does. She says then he should help the Robles, because they're important to her. So fascinating to see a future protagonista practice her bargaining power.

In the boys' jail, Fermin gets thrown into solitary for attacking Rubio. He struggles mightily, even though that's pretty much the only safe spot in the whole place. Take a break, Fer. There will be plenty of other opportunities to be a punching bag when you're rested up. 

Gala visits Salo and slips him some money because she knows "you have to pay for things in this place." She assures him that she knows he and his family are good people. They talk around their (fake) relationship and (fake) breakup and finally agree that it was best, especially considering their current (fake) old/new boyfriend/girlfriend. Salo thought-bubbles "but I didn't plan to fall in love with you" as she turns and walks away, dripping tears. 

Esteban visits Kenzo and gives him kudos for defending Nandy. Ken says he had no choice: he loves her. Esteban is supportive. He goes on to relay the sad news that no lawyer will take their case: they all seem to be afraid of something. They then talk about ballistics(!) for an absurdly long time that could have been spent checking on the dog-rabbit. Priorities, people.

A few days later…

Lupita is back home, the house is cucarachas free. The entire family is there (Vermin, too), Samara and Monito come to greet Lupita, followed by Nandy and Kenzo. Joy all around, this is a bad sign.

Pepa is turning 18, Paz thanks Kenzo for his help, he says she needs to tell Esteban the truth. She agrees, she plans to tell him today 

ENTER the COPS, arresting everyone for having kidnapped Samara. Esteban arrives just behind them and recognizes Ginebra’s daughter. He can’t believe Paz would do that; how could she lie to him?? Castro is taking everyone to jail, kicking and screaming. Samara doesn’t want to be separated from the family; Paz is begging for Lupita not to be taken since she just got out of the hospital, but Lupita admits she knew Samara was hidden in the house.

Esteban asks the family not to speak anymore, they need a lawyer. And then he looks on, powerless, as they are taken outside.

The barrio people see press in front of the Roble house, it’s a screaming mess. Esteban is trying to reach a lawyer as Paz and her family are being taken away in handcuffs.

Samara is crying for Paz, while a reporter is trying to interview her. Castro has to pull a screaming Sam away from Paz’s arms. Nandy and Kenzo are arrested, too.

Mireya and her sons were worried to the max about Lupita. Esteban filled them in on what the doctors said – she was stable and her vital signs were acceptable – and had to ask about where Paz went. He was shocked that she left the hospital with Lupita fighting for her life. Pepa told him that Paz and Vermin were taking Monito back to his parents. Esteban sensed that something wasn't right. Mireya said she hadn't told Paz anything about Lupita's condition. Pepa told him that they were helping Paz but it was nothing bad. Esteban excused himself to leave to check on the investigation.

Fuego and Elvira are still investigating the child who went missing from the hospital. Elvira is sure the Roble family had something to do with it, she’s even afraid they might start stealing from the house, too. However, she needs proof before going to Esteban, he’s been defending them too much and accusing her of being a snob. She would never!

Enter Monica, who Elvira accuses of helping kidnappers. Monica declares her innocence, but Elvira fires her and promises to do everything in her power to remove her license.

Mauro comes to visit the Roble boys. Salo and Pepa are NOT happy to see him. Mauro chats with Monito, he calls him “Chema”, which the kid forgets is his pretend name.

Alone with Mireya’s boys, Mauro tells them that he is dating her, she even slept with him the other day. Oh, boy…Salo wants to strangle Mauro, neither he nor his brother believe him, but he says from now on he will be part of their life.
