Caray, Caray!

Sapo's henchmen capture Juan Primito and are trying to force him to tell him where the people at El Miedo are. This really didn't make sense to me because why would Sapo have any reason to believe that everybody isn't in the big house at El Miedo? The writers made an unusual mistake - they had DB saying that she was sending the women to La Chusmita but when DB goes to see Eustaquia, it is clear that they are in Danger's house, not La Chusmita.

Marisela tells DB about what she overheard in Gonzalo's office and that she is afraid for Santos and for DB.

The guards tell Santos that the owner is not living in the hacienda. Santos leaves him a note. He sees a plane coming in to land.

Pajarote tells Néstor that Genoveva is his woman. They are about to fight when Geno tells them to stop. She says that she can't stand Pajarote and he is the biggest lout of all. Geno leaves and Pajarote follows her.

Marisela tells DB that she doesn't know what do next. DB doesn't know either. She tells Marisela to be her usual smart self. She is happy to have an ally like Marisela.

The woman at the bank tells Carmelito that only the account holder can take out such a large sum of money.

Santos tells Andrés that is sure that Gonzalo and Sapo are involved in narco trafficking. Since the local authorities are involved in the scheme, Santos say that they will have to go to the national government. He doesn't have any contacts in the government but he knows someone who does.

Sapo is angry when he finds out that Santos has discovered where he is hiding out.

Marisela tells DB that she has to think of something soon because she doesn't want to marry Gonzalo. He almost makes her puke when he kisses her and he wants more. DB says that she won't let Gonzalo lay a finger on Marisela. She will think of something.

Pajarote follows Genoveva back to her office. He is angry that his woman would go out with another man. Geno says that she isn't his woman. She says that she made a mistake and slept with a big stupid bird ('un pajarraco tarado') but that's over with. Pajarote asks if she didn't like it when he blew up her balloons. Geno says that the only balloon is him - his head is full of air.

Genoveva and Pajarote stop arguing to listen to Gonzalo and Antonio's argument in Gonzalo's office. Antonio tells Gonzalo that he now believes what Santos told him about Gonzalo being corrupt.

DB tells Marisela to let her know if she sees something that DB can help her with but now she has to return to El Miedo. Marisela says that she is glad that she isn't alone. DB says that she is afraid for Marisela but is also so proud of her bravery and regrets that she wasn't the mother that Marisela deserved.

Antonio says that his conscience is clear and resigns. Gonzalo says darkly that Antonio will regret what he is doing. Marisela returns to work as Antonio storms out of Gonzalo's office. He orders that Marisela and Genoveva leave with him but Marisela says that she is staying.

Carmelito and María Nieves are in a bar trying to decide what to do. Leon is listening.

Gonzalo is telling himself that the photo of the rapists is valuable when he gets a call from Sapo saying that he has Gonzalo's payoff. He wants Gonzalo to come and get it and Gonzalo agrees.

Marisela tells Antonio that she doesn't believe a word he is saying about Gonzalo. Gonzalo meanwhile is listening to Marisela defend him. Marisela says that she has no reason not to believe Gonzalo but she can't say the same for Santos. Naturally, Antonio can't believe that Marisela could betray those she loves. When the guards come to escort Antonio and Pajarote out, Geno asks if Marisela is crazy. Marisela tells Geno to keep her word and not say a thing to anyone. Gonzalo comes out of his office and says that Marisela has done very well.

DB is angry to find Eustaquia still at El Miedo instead of at La Chusmita. Eustaquia replies that she so close to being dead already that it doesn't matter. DB tells Eustaquia that she is worried about Marisela. Her daughter is in danger and DB can't proctect her. DB says that she has to accept Marisela's sacrifice for her because otherwise she is finished.

Maurice receives Santos in a bright orange caftan. He guesses that Santos is there to ask a favor of him.

DB sends the women at El Miedo to La Chusmita and tells her men to guard the place carefully. She sends Juan Primito to keep watch in the tops of the trees and warn her when the enemy comes. Eustaquia doesn't want to go but DB insists.

Maurice arranges a meeting for Santos with the Minister of the Interior. [I think this is the Minister that Sapo already suborned.]

Antonio tells Cecilia that Marisela has defended Gonzalo and is planning to marry him. Cecilia says that she has to talk to Marisela.

JP sees a guy spying on El Miedo. DB tells Melquíades that she is all alone. Melquíades replies that she has him. He will never leave her. DB says that they are alone. Before, she had the forest gods. She gave up her old gods to worship the white-man's god and since then things haven't been going well. JP comes in to report on what he saw. Melquíades goes after the spy.

Santos tells the Minister that he is sure that the regional government is involved with the drug runner but he has no proof. He asks the Minister to send someone to investigate quietly.

DB goes to the pozo at night. After flashing back to her passion with Santos there, she says that this is where her power is.

Gonzalo has come to get his money from Sapo. Facundo arrives to say that DB killed the watchman that they sent to El Miedo.

DB uses a melon to call on the gods of her mother to come and help her.

Antonio tells Santos that he was right about Gonzalo and he has quit his job. He also tells Santos that Marisela is going to marry Gonzalo in a week.

Santos says that he knew Fidel Castell was El Sapo. He asks why DB is telling him this now. She replies that all the bad things that have happened in Progresso are being arranged by Gonzalo and Sapo. Santos says that he doesn't understand what Sapo has to gain by ruining Santos' reputation. DB tells him that Sapo promised to destroy everything DB loves and he knows that she loves Santos.

Marisela tells Gonzalo to treat her with respect. He asks what game she is playing at.

Cecilia and Antonio are in bed together finally. Antonio says that he can't believe he is with her again. He thinks it might be a dream and that he will wake up and find her talking about repentance and all the things she said before. Cecilia says that the time of doubts is over. She knows that he is and will always be the love of her life and she won't lose him. She says that even Lucía admitted that they were made for each other. She laughs about how corny (cursi) that sounds.

DB tells Santos that she doesn't know where Sapo is living but she senses that he is close. Santos accuses her of lying to him again. DB replies that she has lied and done terrible things but they were all done for love and that love is the only thing he can't doubt. She swears on the love that she has for him that what she is saying is the truth. She warns him to be alert and not to trust anyone. She says that if something happens to him, she will die because he is her only reason for living.

Marisela tells Gonzalo that she is just trying to rebuild her life. When she tells him that she is trying to forget Santos, he starts acting rude. She asks what happened to the nice, loving Gonzalo she knew before. She says that he isn't the same and asks if power has corrupted him. Gonzalo replies that Marisela has changed, too. She isn't the innocent girl she was before. She has learned how to lie and he doesn't trust her. Marisela asks how she can regain his trust and Gonzalo says that he can sleep with her.

DB tells Eustaquia that she is concerned that Marisela has gone back to Gonzalo. She doesn't understand why she would do something like that. She suspects that Marisela is up to something.

Santos tells Andrés and Cósme that he is concerned that Antonio is on Gonzalo's side. He says that Antonio is standing between two trains on a collision course and the worst thing is that he doesn't even realize it.

Antonio tells Cecilia that he can't stop thinking about what the health inspector told him. The more he thinks about it, the more doubts he has.

Santos tells Andrés and Cósme that Gonzalo and Sapo are behind all the things that have happened in Progresso. They asks if he has proof and Santos admits that he doesn't have any but he believes what DB told him.

When Eustaquia tells DB that all days at El Miedo are hard, DB replies that when Santos lived with her, there were luminous, happy days. Eustaquia tells DB that she should resign herself to the fact that those days won't come back. DB says that she will never do that. "I know," says Eustaquia, "I just just talking nonsense. You will never change..." "Until the grave," finishes DB. (Eustaquia says the first part of a rhyming expression in Spanish, 'genio y figura..' and DB finishes the rhyme, '...hasta la sepultura.' The English equivalent of this is usually rendered as, 'the leopard can't change its spots' but you can't split it in English the way DB and Eustaquia do in Spanish.)

Andrés and Cósme ask how they can prove that Sapo was one of DB's rapists. Santos says that there is a picture of DB's rapists. He looks for it in his desk but of course it's gone.

Marisela says that she made mistakes with Santos that she doesn't intend to make again. She tells Gonzalo that she is either a wife or nothing at all. She tells him that she will never be his lover. "But you'll be my wife, right? If that's so, then it's what we both want." He tells her that they should get married in a week. "Sure," says Marisela. She tells him that it is late and has to go. She gives him a peck on the cheek and leaves.

Marisela returns to her room and tells Genoveva that even though Gonzalo disgusts her, she is going to marry him in a week.

Cecilia and Antonio have some happy slap and tickle in bed. Cecilia tells Antonio that baby Lucía is going to be beautiful. Antonio says that she and Toñito are going to be very well raised by him and Lucía.

Marisela defends her decision to marry Gonzalo by telling Genoveva that she has to find out what he is up to. The people she loves are in danger and she says that she will do anything to protect them including getting married.

Gonzalo gives Marisela her ring back and says that she has to wear it all the time. Geno says that she is afraid for Marisela. She says that Gonzalo will kill her if she leaves him again. DB comes in and asks to see Gonzalo. When Gonzalo tells DB that he and Marisela are getting married in a week, she asks why so soon.

Gervasia asks Carmelito not to go to San Fernando but he says that Santos asked him to go. He says that nothing will happen.He says that they will only be apart one night.

Someone photographs Cecilia and Antonio kissing in his car. Cecilia goes inside her house [and yes we do have a new Toñito. He's not nearly as cute as the old one] and tells Casilda that she is happy and is going to love her man and her children without fear.

DB and Gonzalo put on a performance on for each other. DB tells Gonzalo that she's come to find out what is going on with Sapo. Gonzalo says that after his house got shot up and set on fire, Sapo was very afraid and left. "You don't say ('¡No me digas!') says DB pretending to be surprised, "He must have a lot of enemies," Gonzalo goes on to say that he hasn't had the police pursue any enemies Sapo might have had because it's better to just leave the matter alone. DB agrees that Gonzalo acted correctly.

With Gonzalo present, DB asks Marisela to have lunch with her. Marisela says that she isn't hungry. DB sends a message to Marisela by saying that she wants to see how she can make Marisela's wedding as wonderful as that of Florencio "Quita Dolores," who almost married DB way back in October. The wedding was anything but wonderful and Marisela picks up on the hint. DB tells Gonzalo that she wants Marisela's wedding to turn out exactly like that of Quita Dolores.

Mujica tells Santos that a corporation who representative is Facundo bought the haciendas of the two families who were forced to sell by kidnapping. Santos tells Mujica that Facundo works for Sapo.

Néstor comes to see the Governor and finds Genoveva. She tells him not to waste his time with her - she's pregnant. Once he determines that she isn't in love or married, he asks her out to lunch. Geno hesitates and Néstor asks if being pregnant keeps her from having friends.

Gonzalo calls Sapo and asks for news. Sapo says that the first shipment came in without a problem and he is expecting that there will be two planes a week. Gonzalo says that is fine, where is is his money? He tells Sapo that he wants it in cash and soon - he has wedding expenses. Sapo agrees.

DB and Marisela are alone. DB asks why she would marry a man she doesn't love. Marisela says that this is what DB wanted - now her path to Santos is open. DB says that she wanted Marisela to marry Gonzalo before but not any more. Marisela asks why.

Gonzalo tells Genoveva to order flowers and champagne for Marisela. Antonio comes in and asks what the celebration is for. Gonzalo tells him that he and Marisela are getting married. Antonia is impactado. He tells Gonzalo not to marry out of anger like he did. He says that Marisela and Santos love each other. When Gonzalo replies that Marisela and Santos have broken up, Antonio says that even if they hate each other, they belong together. He says that Marisela has never stopped looking at Santos like the hero she thought he was when she was a savage who could barely talk. He tells Gonzalo that if he tries to separate Marisela and Santos, he will fail because they are made for one another. "Trust me, brother," says Antonio. Gonzalo tells him not to call him 'brother' because he couldn't be the brother of an ignorant farmer like Antonio.

DB asks Marisela why she decided to marry Gonzalo all of a sudden. She doesn't accept Marisela's answer that she hates Santos and wants to hurt him. She says that Marisela must have a more serious reason for marrying a man that she despises. She begs Marisela to be honest with her.

Pajarote leaves María Nieves and Carmelito to attend to the bank withdrawal so that he can resolve matters with Genoveva. Carmelito advises Pajarote to treat Genoveva nicely and not try to tame her like a horse. It's not clear if this speech about how important women are to men has any effect on Pajarote.

Genoveva tells Néstor that she doesn't have much confidence in friendships between men and women. Néstor asks Geno if she will go out with him. She reminds him that she is pregnant and he asks if her belly prevents her from going to the movies or dancing.

It appears that Pajarote hasn't taken Carmelito's advice because he grabs Néstor and demands to know what Néstor is doing with his girl.

Antonio tells Gonzalo that he has to express his anger. He calls Gonzalo a hypocrite and says that he claimed to have high ideals but when he got a little power he became a tinpot dictator.
Antonio say that Santos was right - Gonzalo is a disaster as human being and as a friend.

Santos and Andrés go the hacienda where Sapo is living. A dozen or so armed men are hanging around the gate. Santos tells Andrés that they are armed with justice. Santos tells the men at the gate that he is from the Cattlemen's Association and would like to speak to their boss.

DB can't get Marisela to tell her what she knows so DB goes first. She tells Marisela that she can't marry Gonzalo because he is allied with DB's enemy. "You knew about this?" asks Marisela surprised. Marisela tells DB that Gonzalo has the pictures of the rapists in his posession. That means that he knows who Sapo is but is his ally anyway. She says that this had made her very afraid for Santos and for DB. DB embraces Marisela.

Santos says that he didn't expect to see Marisela in Gonzalo's office. "Well here I am where you sent me," replies Marisela, "with Gonzalo. Aren't we two of a kind ('tal para cual')?" She asks how he has the nerve to ask her to go with him after he threw her out of his house.

DB sends Melquíades to keep watch on Sapo day and night so that the next time they confront him, he'll have a one-way ticket to hell.

Sapo tells Facundo that he has plans for fixing up his new digs. He says that once he gets rid of the old witch, his worries will be over. Soon they will pay her a visit.

Antonio tells Andrés that all Santos does is make accusations against Gonzalo and it's all because of jealousy over Marisela. Andrés says that Marisela doesn't have anything to do with the dairy processing plant. Antonio still doesn't believe that Gonzalo has done anything.

Antonio arrives in Gonzalo's office just in time to keep Santos from hitting Gonzalo again. He drags him out. Santos tells Antonio that it's ok not to believe him about Gonzalo but he urges Antonio to investigate what happened.

Genoveva comforts Marisela. Marisela tells her that it was hard to see how hurt Santos was when she told him that she was staying with Gonzalo. She says that she can't tell him the truth until she knows what Gonzalo is hiding.

DB comes into the Cattlemen's Association meeting while Don Encarnación is trying to convince the members that Santos is responsible for everything that has happened and that they should close the milk proecessing plant permanently. DB reminds the members of the Association of all the things Santos has done for them and asks if they want to cut off the hand that is feeding them.

Santos finds Marisela outside and tries to talk to her. He very matter-of-factly admits that he acted out of rage when he threw her out of Altamira and he says that he is sorry. It seems like Marisela would have accepted his apology if she weren't playing the spy.

The health department person tells Antonio that the Governor himself called her at night and demanded that the dairy plant be inspected first thing the next day. She also tells him that she was not aware of any complaints about milk from the plant before the Governor called.

Santos tells Marisela that he will do anything for her. She tells him to leave. She says that she needs him to go away knowing that she hates him. She says that if he knows how to understand, he'll realize what she is saying. Of course, Santos has no idea what she is talking about.

DE turns and attacks DB calling her a thief. She tries once again to convince the members of the Association that Santos has been working for their benefit but they don't believe her.

Marisela tells Geno about her plan to pretend to be friends with Gonzalo to find out his secrets. Geno says that she is afraid. Marisela replies that she has made up her mind and Geno can't tell anyone what she doing.

Santos tells Andrés that there was something very strange in his conversation with Marisela like she was trying to tell him something.

Gonzalo asks Marisela to have dinner and go dancing with him. She agrees.

Melesio tells Gervasia what a great husband she has and Gervasia agrees that Carmelito is wonderful.

DB tells Pernalete and Mujica that Sapo is living in a local hacienda and is involved in drug running. She says that Pernalete will make points with the government if he reports this. Pernalete says that he is concerned that government officials, namely Gonzalo, are involved in this scheme (enjuague, literally, 'rinsing'). DB agrees that she doesn't know if Gonzalo is her enemy or ally. They are interrupted by the news that the workers of the dairy processing plant have gone on strike.

Antonio comes to see Cecilia and brings a toy to his son [Is this the same kid as before? We don't get much of a look at his face but it seems like a much older child]. Antonio tells Cecilia that he is worried about Santos and Gonzalo. He thinks that it goes beyond their jealousy over Marisela. He says that up until now he has ignored Santos' warnings about Gonzalo but now he isn't sure. Cecilia says that she knows Santos and he wouldn't give Antonio a warning if there wasn't something wrong. Antonio tells Cecilia that he is worried about what could happen to him if Gonzalo is corrupt.

The workers from the now closed dairy processing plant demand their salaries from Santos.

Melquíades is lurking around what appears to be an airport, not a recently constructed airstrip. He sees Gonzalo arrive.

Gonzalo tells Sapo that the sabotage to the dairy processing plant worked perfectly. The plant has been shut down and the workers are protesting. Sapo suggests that they kill Santos now. Gonzalo replies that he just had a public argument with Santos. If Santos is found dead now, he will be a suspect. Sapo says that Santos is a pain in the neck ('como una piedra en el zapato' literally, 'like a stone in the shoe') and might mess up their business plans. Gonzalo tells him not to worry. He wants Santos dead more than Sapo does but there is a time for everything.

Cecilia is surprised that Marisela is going out with Gonzalo and can't help fix up Cecilia's new place.

Santos tells DE that it would be a mistake to let the plant close. He offers to front the money for the salaries of the plant workers. He announces this in the hotel bar in front of he workers and Tigre and Leon and says that he has to get the money from a bank in San Fernando. Then Santos asks Carmelito to go to San Fernando and get the money. [We can see where this is going.] DB tries to talk to Santos but he won't listen.

Melquíades reports to DB on Gonzalo's visit to Sapo. She says that she has to warn Santos.

Santos gives a check to Carmelito and tells him to have the bank manager give him the money in the vault so no one can see how much money he's carrying. Carmelito says that he will safeguard the money with his life [uh oh].

Pajarote offers to go with Carmelito to San Fernando but denies that he is going to ask Genoveva to forgive him. Pajarote says that he is like Santos. He doesn't beg. "We mess up ('metemos la pata,' literally, 'put a foot in')," he says, "but with our heads held high. We don't go back or ask for forgiveness like wusses ('gallinas'), right boss?" Santos replies that he doesn't think they should take pride in such behavior.

DB shows up at Altamira and says that she has to talk to Santos about a matter of life and death.

Leon and Tigre plan to steal the money for the payroll and get payback on Carmelito at the same time.

Geno advises Marisela to talk to Antonio before going out with Gonzalo but Marisela says that Antonio will just tell Santos. She says that she has to find out what Gonzalo's involvement with Sapo is.

Cecilia and Antonio have a romantic dinner and reiterate the love they have always had for each other in the good times and bad times.

DB tells Santos that she came to warn him as a friend. She says that Gonzalo is his worst enemy and when Santos says that he knows this, she says that Gonzalo has an ally and they are planning to destroy him. DB is very surprised to hear that Marisela went back to Gonzalo and is defending him.

Back at Cecilia's house, Antonio tells her that he is looking for a good reason not to go to her room. When Cecilia tells him that they won't wake Casilda up, he says that he can't find any reason. "That's good," says Cecilia, "Finally".

Gonzalo asks Marisela to get back with him. She says that she doesn't want to get married and doesn't want to deceive him. Gonzalo replies that is no problem. Why don't they just sleep together? She is experienced after being with Santos. He says that he will show her a better time.

Santos challenges DB to tell him the name of Gonzalo's ally. She says that he is the man who tried to kill her and who ruined her life with four others - El Sapo - and now he is after Santos.

Marisela tells Genoveva DB's history with the rapists. Geno says that DB is in danger and Marisela repsonds that they are all in danger because Sapo is a monster.

DB burns down Sapo's house.

Melesio tells Santos to try and control his temper. He says that when Santos as calmed down, he will realize all the people that he has hurt.

Gonzalo orders that the dairy processing plant be inspected first thing the next morning.

Marisela tells Geno that she doesn't understand why Gonzalo has the photos of the rapists.

DB is angry that Sapo escaped her. She tells Melquíades that she wants him alive.

Don Encarnación catches Antonio and Cecilia having a romantic dinner. He calls Antonio and Cecilia a pair of traitors.

Marisela tells Geno that she doesn't know what to do about the photos.

Antonio tries to talk sense into DE.

Santos is apologizing to Carmelito and hearing about his plans to establish a poultry business when Cósme and Mujica come to tell him about the dairy plant being closed down.

When Marisela runs into Gonzalo in the Governor's residence, she tells him that she and Santos are finished. Gonzalo offers to forget everything that happened and give her her job back. Marisela is starting to refuse when Antonio comes in and says that Sapo's house was set on fire.

Pernalete comes to see DB to tell her that a lot of strange things are going on in Progresso: haciendas are being sold overnight to unknown buyers, the dairy processing plant has been closed down due to rats and there was a newspaper article accusing Santos of embezzlement. "And you immediately concluded that it was me who had done it, right?"asks DB. Pernalete says that it is the kind of things DB does. DB tells him that he is wrong. She had nothing to do with what has happened but she knows who is behind it - Sapo. She tells Melquíades to sneak around the ranches that were sold and see what is going on.

Santos tries to defend his actions to the Cattleman's Association. DE shows up and accuses Santos of incompetence.

Marisela tells Geno that she might take her job back to find out why Gonzalo has the photos in his office. She transfers a call from Sapo to Gonzalo and listens to Sapo demanding that DB be killed and Gonzalo telling him not to do it yet.

When the call is over, Marisela goes into Gonzalo's office and sweetly asks for her job back. Her attitude would make me suspicious. It's hard to tell what Gonzalo is thinking.

Santos tells the Cattlemen's Association that he has demonstrated that there were no financial irregularities under his leadership but since the members no longer have confidence in him, he will resign as president. He suggests that they elect DE.

DB is sending the women and Juan Primito to La Chusmita to be out of the line of fire. Eustaquia doesn't want to go.

Melquíades is checking out the area where the haciendas were sold. He sees a plane coming in for a landing and thinks it is very strange.

Santos finds out that the Governor ordered the health inspection on the dairy processing plant. In typical Santos fashion, he wants to go confront Gonzalo immediately. Andrés tries to calm him down but without success.

Cecilia has just fed baby Lucía when Antonio comes in. Cecilia says that the baby is doing very well and will likely survive. Antonio thanks Cecilia for all she has done. Cecilia says that she is doing what Lucía asks. He kisses Cecilia and someone takes another picture.

Santos asks Andrés to wait outside the Government building in case Santos is arrested for what he is going to do to Gonzalo. Santos bursts into Gonzalo's office, hits him and accuses him of planting the rats in the factory and then having an inspection done. Santos accuses Gonzalo of using his authority as Governor to destroy him since he can't do it man to man. Santos says that he will do everything he can to destroy Gonzalo.

It's the married/engaged vaqueros versus Pajarote. Cósme, María Nieves and Carmelito discuss their plans to make something of themselves for their families. Pajarote feels left out. The other guys point out that he has said that he doesn't want any responsibilities. MN gives a little speech about how he and the other guys want to work hard and put their families first. Pajarote can continue to do what his father did- sleep around and leave fatherless children ('sigue montando a tus vaquillas y dejando terneros regados por ahí,' literally, 'continue mounting your heifers and leaving calves littered all around') but he shouldn't complain if he gets left behind in life. Pajarote says that with friends like them, he doesn't need enemies. Cósme says that MN went too far ('como que se te fue la mano') but Carmelito doesn't agree.

Sapo has a new hideout. He tells Facundo that no one must suspect that they are using the farms to bring in their merchandise. He is going to get his business organized first and then take care of DB.

DB is closer than he thinks, though. She and Melquíades have found the runway.

Santos is outraged that Marisela is back working for Gonzalo. She defends Gonzalo against Santos' accusations and says that she is staying with him.

Marisela tries to reason with Santos. She asks what reason she would have had for deceiving him about DB's pregnancy.

DB tells Facundo that she usually gets rid of filth like him but that his time will come. Right now, he can go back to El Sapo and tell him that DB is declaring war on him.

Gonzalo pretends that he gave Antonio an order to pay for the repair of a street twice by mistake. He tells Antonio that the Marisela situation has his head all mixed up.

Marisela tells Santos that he is being controlled by his anger. If he throws her out, she won't come back. She won't beg like DB does. When he doesn't respond, she leaves. Juan Primito tells Marisela that Santos will get over his anger but Marisela says that Santos doesn't love her and she has no reason to wait for his anger to pass.

With Pernalete and Mujica present, DB accuses Sapo of rape and murder. She tells Facundo to tell Sapo that this is her territory and these are her men. She is declaring a fight to the death between them.

Altagracia tells the other terneras about how Santos threw DB out of Altamira. They hope that happy times are coming back to Altamira with Santos and Marisela together.

In a lovely scene, JP tells truth to power. When Santos tells him that he threw Marisela out because she lied, he points out that everyone lies and when Santos lived at El Miedo, he didn't tell DB how much he missed Marisela. Santos says that was different and that JP doesn't understand. JP says that he does understand: it's ok for Santos to lie but not Marisela. He says that Santos thinks he knows everything but he doesn't know anything. He tells Santos that a good man doesn't make women cry but with Santos, they all cry: Marisela, DB and Luisana. He says that Santos is bad, bad, very bad (muy malo)!

Cecilia tells Genoveva and Casilda that she will rent the house that they saw. Antonio comes in and the other women leave. Antonio tells Cecilia that he got a restraining order against Don Encarnación. Cecilia thinks that was the wrong thing to do. When he kisses Cecilia, someone takes a photograph.

When DE comes to see his granddaughter, he is turned away. He is furious.

Pernalete and Mujica come back with long faces to the cafe where Federica and Josefa are waiting . They say that a war is coming and DB and Sapo will kill each other and no matter which side Pernalete and Mujica are on, they will get killed, too.

Facundo returns to Sapo and says that he has a message for him. He tells Sapo that DB wants to see him in hell before he dies. She wants him to suffer more than any of the other rapists. He says that DB is possessed (endemoniada). "And she's coming after me?" asks Sapo nervously.

DB returns to El Miedo to find Marisela there. Marisela says that DB has tricked her again. She was naive and stupid enough to believe that DB had gone crazy after she lost her baby. DB tells her that at first she was crazy but Marisela no longer believes anything she says. DB says that losing her baby was horrible; almost as bad as being raped. The only good thing was finding out that Marisela loved her in spite of all the horrible things she had done. "You still deceived me?" says Marisela, "You still used me to get close to Santos?" DB admits it and says that she would do it again. It's the way she is.

Santos is rude to the terneras.

Marisela tells DB that Santos has kicked her out of Altamira for lying to him about DB losing her baby. "That's what you wanted, right?" asks Marisela. DB admits that is exactly what she wanted.

Santos is rude to María Nieves when he tells Santos that Marisela's mare is pregnant.

Gonzalo tells Sapo to sabotage the dairy plant while he will destroy Santos' reputation and then finish him off.

Santos rides off and is assaulted by flashbacks.

Marisela tells DB that Santos is all hers now. She says that she will go far away forever. DB can stay at El Miedo with her hatred and lies and try to regain the love of someone who hates her. Marisela turns to leave and DB tries to stop her without success. As she walks away, DB asks Marisela to forgive her. Eustaquia says that she hopes DB doesn't regret for the rest of her life breaking her daughter's heart.

Santos, assaulted by flashbacks, is rude to Carmelito.

After hearing about Santos' behavior from the terneras, Carmelito and MN, Melesio decides to go and speak to him.

DB finds JP hiding under a table and crying because Marisela has gone and won't be coming back. DB tells him that Marisela will always be unhappy near her and that is why it is better for her to be far away.

Marisela tells Cecilia, Antonio and Genoveva that she has to get far away from DB.

DB lights up her cigarillo, loads her gun, kisses Eustaquia and JP goodbye and heads off to do battle with Sapo.

Genoveva is looking for the stapler (engrapadora) in Gonzalo's office when she finds the much-traveled picture of the DB's rapists. She says that she has to show it to Marisela.

Melesio tells Santos that he should be going after Marisela. Santos says that Marisela doesn't exist for him anymore.

DB and her gang shoot up Sapo's flat screen TV but there's no one at his house.

Sapo and Facundo are off releasing a bunch of white mice into the dairy processing plant. Sapo says that Santos' dairy plant is finished.

Melesio lets Santos get all the crazy things out of his head. Then he tells him that he has acted like an idiot and had better do something soon or he will lose the most valuable thing in the world - the love of a good woman.

Geno shows Marisela the picture of the rapists. She recognizes Sapo and realizes that the fifth rapist is Sapo and that he is very close.

Don Encarcnación calls Cecilia a slut. She tells him that she knows he is hurting but he had better treat her with respect. DE says that he knows that Cecilia and Antonio are scheming to get Lucía's inheritance. Antonio comes up behind DE and tells him that neither he nor Cecilia have any interest in Lucía's money.

Santos ties the furious DB up to a chair and Dr. Árias takes a blood sample.

Marisela tells Gonzalo that it is over between them. She says that she tried to love him but she couldn't. She gives Gonzalo his ring back and leaves.

DB threatens to kill Dr. Árias if he does the test. The doctor tells Santos the results of the test: DB is not pregnant. DB says that it's a lie. Santos calls her the most despicable person he has ever met and walks out of the doctor's office leaving her tied to a chair.

Celeste's not very vigilant brothers and cousins finally notice that she didn't come to dinner and isn't in her room. They go to find out where she is.

In a great scene, a furious Santos returns to Altamira, dumps all of DB's stuff into a bedspread and throws it off the balcony. He is even mean to Eustaquia. DB arrives and tries to explain but Santos won't listen. He says that both she and Eustaquia lied and deceived him. [I love the camera angle of this shot.]



Marisela gives Genoveva her job and says that she is going to be with Santos.

María Nieves, Carmelito and Cósme find fault with the way Pajarote has handled the situation with Genoveva. When MN tells Pajarote that he has been like a 'dog without a master' ('perro sin dueño') about Geno, Pajarote denies that he is in love. He says that he had a good time with Geno and he would think about her for hours or days afterwards but he isn't in love. Gervasia arrives with lunch for the workers.

The Mondragons find Celeste at the hotel being given advice about men from Federica and Josefa. They demand to know who she was with.

Cecilia advises Antonio to consult with his lawyer about the DE situation. They run into Marisela who says that she is going back to Altamira.

DB tells Santos that Marisela knew that DB lost her baby. Santos says that it is impossible that Marisela would lie to him. Having found a weak point, she presses it and says that she gave birth to Marisela so they are the same and they both lied to him. She, Eustaquia, Melquíades and Juan Primito leave Altamira.

Marisela explains to Antonio and Cecilia why she didn't tell the truth about DB to Santos. Antonio tells Marisela that Santos is going to be furious that she lied to him.

Gervasia and Carmelito have a conversation about how wonderful their future will be. [I hope I'm wrong but this suggests to me that Carmelito is going to get killed.]

Los Mondragon come for Pajarote. Carmelito and the other vaqueros drive them off. MN tells Pajarote to keep his zipper closed ('mantén la bragueta cerrada') and not to push his luck ('no le busques la quinta pata al gato,' literally, 'don't look for the fifth leg on the cat'). He asks if there aren't enough women in town that he has to shack up with Celeste.

Gonzalo yells at Genoveva for transferring a call to him when he had told her not to. He calls her a stupid peasant ('campesina bruta'). Antonio overhears. He tells Gonzalo not to insult Marisela or his friend Santos.

DB et al return to El Miedo. Melquíades tells DB that she should have let him kill Santos. DB says that she doesn't want Santos dead; she wants him by her side. Eustaquia says that she can't believe it's the same old song again. DB says that if Santos won't come back of his own free will, she' ll get him back the hard way. She says that everything that has happened has been Sapo's fault. If she hadn't lost her baby, Santos would be with her now. Melquíades asks what the plan is. DB says that before anything else, she wants vengeance. She wants Sapo's head at her feet.

Gonzalo asks if Santos deserves respect after what happened at the Governor's conference. Antonio says that he doesn't care about Gonzalo's personal problems but he should not insult Santos or Marisela when Antonio is present. If he continues, Antonio will resign his position.

DB has changed into her black lace up corset thingy so we know that she back to her old evil self. I don't think we'll see her knitting again. She and Melquíades go in search of her employees who are missing from the hacienda.

Marisela returns to Altamira and Altagracia tells her that Santos threw DB out and that he found out that both DB and Marisela had lied to him about DB's pregnancy. Marisela finds Santos and explains why she didn't tell him the truth. "You," says Santos, "the person that I trusted the most, the woman that I love. You lied." Marisela asks him to forgive her.

Facundo finds Los Mondragon in the bar. He asks them to choose between 'the old witch' (la vieja bruja') or the 'Don' in the war that is coming. Mujica overhears and scurries off.

Gonzalo says that he won't talk about Santos or Marisela any more. Antonio says that he is ready to go back to work. Gonzalo gives him a payment order. Antonio says that he can't sign it. He has already signed one for the same thing.

Mujica comes to where Pernalete is sitting with Federica's 'chocolatito'. He tells him about Facundo's appearance in Progresso and that Sapo has declared war on DB and they had all better find somewhere to hide.

Facundo tells Los Mondragon that only those who are with Sapo will survive the coming war. DB appears and holds Facundo at gunpoint. She says that Facundo is one of the men who sent the hacienda on fire. She has has been loyal to Los Mondragon and protected them from those who were persecuting them. Now they have to decide if they are with her or with El Sapo. If they betray her, she will find them wherever they hide. You can see the tiny Mondgragon brains trying to figure out which will be the winning side.

Marisela tries to get Santos to say something. She tells him that he was right. She has broken up with Gonzalo. Santos tells her that she did wrong. She should go back to Gonzalo. As a pair of traitors, they make a great couple. He says that Marisela has broken his heart. He can never trust her again. He tells her to leave. Poor Marisela is impactada.
