Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/29/18 Chapter 87: Too Much Kiss-Kiss, Not Enough Bang-Bang

DEPARTAMENTO ELENA:

We open with Elena doing a face-plant on Ric. After a long, audience-discomfiting moment of galanbesoparalysis, he gently pushes her away. She’s still Alien Elena, so she understands. They take turns apologizing to each other. It’s weird and somehow also boring. “Is this about Alejandra? Do you still love her?” “Yes, very much.” She asks for a few minutes alone and cries crystal tears while looking out from the balcony. No venganza-face or anything.

After Ric goes off to play Romper Room with his oversized toddlers, she gets on the phone with Carlos’s tame lawyer and tells him “things have changed.” Hmmm.

OFICINA VICTORIA:

Flush from their matchmaking victory, Rob pops in to ask Victoria out. She is noncommittal until he says it’s to visit his Dad, then she’s all in. Nicolas is a tipazo!  “Well, you can’t do better than me, then – I’m the new, improved version!” He asks her again when she’ll give him an oportunidad, and she says maybe someday. He judges this microthaw to be a significant indication of progress, while the rest of us just slowly age in place.

BUFETE VEGA:

Gus and Alonso are working late on the Ramiro Dorantes case. Gus says fraud is not his specialty, so he’ll need some help making the case airtight. Al promises to be there for him. He also reminds him that when things start to go bad for Ramiro, his brother will not take this lying down. They’ll all need to be extra-careful, which is telenovela foreshadowing for “there’s gonna be a shoot ‘em up.” Shall we nominate our favorite victims?

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/28/18 Chapter 86 Jueves: Coupling

Chapter 86: Coupling
I'm Christopher Mason. Most people in the world want to be part of a couple. They enjoy the idea of having a partner in life's adventures... or an accomplice in their crimes. In today's story we will see several who seem to know what they want, but don't always get it.
  • Ricardo told Alejandra he would not stop fighting for her love. She did not quite believe it.

Corazon Que Miente, Week 4 (6/25/18) Thursday Update: Bro fu-fighting—no, not the young ones.

Episode #19
Noé goes with the police quietly. The ladies are very agitated.
Ren is still in the garden with Santi. She’s sure Mariela means nothing to Alonso (as Santi hinted) and if she did, Ren will just snap her fingers and she’s gone. Oh, says Santi, sort of the way she did with him?
Leo is trying to find some inspiration for his next project, but is called home to help out with the latest crisis.
Karla urges her adult son to not get involved with that tal Mariela. He should know she’s bad news and bad news travels fast around town (especially if Karla is driving the train). Liso laughs at her proposition and blows her off, even after hearing that Mari slapped his sister a little while ago. It was all because Flo told Mari to keep her hands off her boyfriend. Liso is very skeptical. When Mari calls, Liso answers, to the consternation of his mother.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/27/18 Chapter 85: Indecent Proposals

Olivia joins Alan for dinner.  Alan, the Quicksand Kid, the poster boy for Beta males everywhere, sits down and while waiting for their cocktails, offers the woman he supposedly loves and wants to spend the rest of his dull, lusterless life with--a beauty with whom he's shared a few, passionless lip locks that led nowhere--(drum roll)...not a diamond ring hidden at the bottom of her champagne glass nor baked into her dessert. Nope.  He regales her with ---wait for it--a set of shiny new keys to his apartment!!!  (Cue the crickets!) er...was that a whoopee cushion Viewerville just heard?

Oli, to her credit, is polite as always, and perhaps not so disappointed--rather more than less relieved it's only a set of keys. (Alan, you are so predictably tacky!)  She is more than a bit peeved and stutters that their relationship hasn't come to that bend in Proposition Road yet.  In fact, she'd hoped he saw her as more proper than propositional.  He asks her just what really happened in Cancun since she's come back from there a totally different woman. (Sure, thing Al.  You've dug yourself into a hole.  No reason to stop digging now.)

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/26/18 Chapter 84 Martes: Guilt

Chapter 84: Guilt
I'm Christopher Mason. Few people in this world feel completely free from guilt. This can be because of the teachings of childhood, a life-changing experience, or a feeling of inferiority. That makes it a powerful tool in the hands of the wrong people. In our today's story Guilt is a tidalwave.
  • Show me how you used it,” said Carlos after he handed the pen to Octavio.
“I don't remember; it happened so fast. He was very violent,” Octavio said as he fumbled with the pen.
“Show me how much force you used.”
Octavio stood up and picked the pen up from the table.
“I saw the knife and took it. Daniel was on the point of saying –”
    “To you?”

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/25/18 Chapter 83 Lunes: Sacrifices

Chapter 83: Sacrifices
I'm Christopher Mason. Everyone in modern society is told that they will make sacrifices for one reason or another. There can be sacrifices for love, for children, and for other reasons. But when is the sacrifice too great? In today's stories we will see several people for whom Sacrifices will have other consequences.
  • Nuria appeared behind Daniela as she argued her rights with Octavio. She stabbed her in the back at the waist, then took advantage of Daniela's shock to stab her in the stomach. The weapon was obviously a kitchen knife.
“Nobody takes my son away from me!” she yelled visciously as her victim fell to the floor. “Least of all a monster like you!”

Corazon Que Miente, Week 4 (6/25/18) Monday Kickoff: Kisses 1 - Slaps 0

* Mariela is being wooed by Lisandro and wants to know if they can date. She says she’ll think about it. He’s even willing to help her with her land issue, regardless of what his dad says.
* Dem and Rog cook up a scheme to plant Noe’s fingerprints in Dem’s office, since they have no other evidence that he was the thief. Rog assures Dem Noé had to have been the thief.
* Santi tells granny Sara he thinks he’s at fault for Noe’s family disappearing. He was nasty to Lety. Sara doesn’t think Noé and Amalia would leave their jobs over that—and not talk to her first.
* Ren and Rafie chit chat about the party. Ren moons over Al. She hopes he comes. Rafie says being cousins makes no difference to her and Dem would be happy if his son gets interested in her.
* Dem breaks in on Sara and Fr. Daniel’s convo, regarding the Noé family. He says he fired the whole family because Noé was stealing the rent receipts—and he has witnesses. Sara defends them. Dem says he doesn’t want to see them around again. On his way out, Fr. Dan and Al exchange a few words. Basically, Al says he’s waited for years to punch Leo. He’s responsible for his mother’s death, whether or not he pulled the trigger. Dan says Leo loved Lucía. Al says that’s all the more reason for not forgiving him.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/22/18 Chapters 81/82: “Take ‘em away, kitten!”

Part 1:

DOWN IN THE ALLEY:

El Ciego and El Gato have the brothers Dorantes on their knees, pistols to their heads. Do you know who’s boss now? Do you? El Ciego makes them say it. The Fat Man is in tears, but Jacinto remains stoic. El Ciego holds the gun steady and very deliberately pulls the trigger.

Click. The gun’s not loaded! El Ciego cracks up. What a card. He waves everyone off with an insouciant “¡Llévatelos, Gatito!” (“Take ‘em away, kitten!”)

BUFETE CARLOS:

Carlos is having it out with Alan about the missing money. Alan points out that he needed to keep the despacho running while Carlos was in prison – a nice prison, by the way, as prisons go, and for that he needed to call in favors. That’s what you do for family. Carlos tells him that if all of this isn’t above board (I’m guessing the Ibarras use that term loosely), he’ll manage to forget he’s family. Nice try at being menacing, Carlos, but we’ve seen the big dogs, and you’re not one of them.

T.O.H.I.M.C.

Elena continues to display the personality transplant they accidentally performed on her when they were just supposed to be stitching her up. I have behaved so badly! I wasn’t fair to you! Ricardo’s all decked out in black and blue, which seems appropriate. Some cop guy marches in and tells her she needs to come down to the station and make her statement. Elena shouts, pouts, and whines (guess it was just a partial personality transplant.) Ricardo promises she’ll be there.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/21/18 Chapters 80/81: CYA Days

Parte 1~~
Replay: Leonardo takes a somewhat willing Olivia in his arms and asks her what will it take to demonstrate how much he truly loves her?   They kiss till Oli's overactive conscience takes over and she pushes away from Leo.  They cannot do this because she's dating Alan.  He apologizes for getting carried away.  She leaves him to sleep on the couch but relents enough to surprised him with a kiss to his forehead before retiring to the guestroom.

Meanwhile, at Paula and Alejandra's, Carlos swears to Ale, and a very skeptical Paula, that he had no idea that Benjamin Acosto was money-laundering funds given to The Foundation.  "--Remember Ale, it was you who recommended him to me.  But don't worry.  I will have a hearing where we advise all that you are totally innocent of this!   And, you know I will always protect you from whatever and whomever."  (Paula remains cool as a cucumber but is definitely fighting the urge to pay gut felt homage to the nearest toilet bowl.)

Corazon Que Miente, Week 3 (6/18/18) Thursday Update: The Slaps Just Keep on Coming

Episode #14 (Thu Jun 21)
1. Whoopee! Ren and Rafie overheard Rogelio boasting how the death of the doc made things easier for Dem. (Unfortunately, it wasn't just a few seconds earlier and it was Ren and Rafie who heard, not Mariela and Leo or Sara and Alonso. Well, we can’t have everything tied up in a bow 14 episodes in.) Alone with Ren, Dem explains how it really went. Rog tends to exaggerate. It troubles him because other people misunderstand. He explains in such simple terms even a kindergartner would understand that the doc’s house burned down AFTER they closed the deal. His passing away was a coincidence that happened to benefit them. Ren believes him. She gives him the little gift she brought and they share a hug. Ren indicates she no longer remembers a thing Rog said. Dem smiles and cups her face and tells her she’s a jewel, the daughter he never had (but doesn’t look at her that way as she leaves.)
2. Mariela accepts the doc’s job offer, but would like to work part time for a while. She’ll start in a couple of days.
3. Flo has had second thoughts regarding parental help with Santi. She asks her dad to ask Demián to put a little pressure on Santi. The men would form a Yentos tag team (note the masculine ending). He turns her down. He just can’t cross that line into the personal with Dem. Well, then he’d better be satisfied with her marrying any old body.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/20/18 Chapter 79 Miercoles: Words (#80 covered in the comments section)

    Chapter 79: Words
I'm Christopher Mason. To anyone in the practice of law words are more than communication; they are weapons. Many people with less expertise use words to hit others with, but lawyers and politicians can and do use words with knife-sharp precision. In our story tonight we will see the direction of this war on all its fronts.
    • Jaime put the morning paper on the table and demanded an explanation from Jacinto Durantes. He told him in no uncertain terms that if he was deceiving him he would resign his case. Durantes told him he ha been in Alonso's office when the crime took place and he was fed up with lies being told about himself. He claimed he was fighting for his life.

Candy Man Miguel is there for supper again at Elena's.  He's brought gifts again for the kids.  She must head out for a few minutes to get something last minute and leaves Miguel in charge.  He is visibly uptight being left alone with a couple of kids he barely knows.

Back at Vega and Associates (which may soon be two fewer in number) Benji and the now fully clothed Leticia scream and yell  at each other about who is really to blame that they've not only been found out, but that the spaghetti spined Benji didn't claim Leti as his one and only love and thereby humiliated her in front of his wife, not to mention the boss and half the law firm saw her practically naked in her Victoria's not so Secret bvd's.  Ben angrily tells her they're both to blame and that he's got much more at stake here than she does!  She eventually throws him out of the office and tells him not to rely on her for a single thing from now on.

Corazon Que Miente, Week 3 (6/18/18) Monday Kickoff: The Slap Heard ‘Round the Lobby

    Episode #11
After Leo storms out of Mariela’s room without explaining why he doesn’t want her to wear the Lyin’ Heart pendant, Carmen comes in to comfort Mariela. She says it seems to have brought back painful memories, but she knows how Leo is, he’ll get over it and will explain it to her.
Leo is in a local bar, drinking his way out of (or into) his depression. He calls the joven for a refill. Surprisingly, Rogelio is taking a break in the same bar and recognizes Leo immediately from his voice alone. He gets up and makes sure. Yep, it’s Leo. Somehow it pleases him very much to see him back.
Rafaela and Demián have some pillow-talk in their huge double king-size bed (no doubt so they don’t have to touch each other—ever) before turning out the lights. Rafie thinks they should set Ren up with Alonso, who has no girlfriend, rather than Santi, who already has a formal relationship with Flo. Dem doesn’t think that is a problem, he can fall out of love easily with someone like Flo. Rafie will check things out. Dem decides he wants some nookie and overrules her wishes not to give him any. (We don’t have to watch.)

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/15/18 Chapter 75: ♫Oh What a Night♫, and Oh What a Kiss!

Your court reporter, disguised as a tourist, is in Cancun, watching all the goings on with the Vega attorneys and other hangers-on. She also has reporters back in D.F. keeping an eye on things and reporting back to her. [P.S. Someone please let me know if this episode went to the Chop Shop].

Benji is pacing around Leti’s hotel room trying to pull his hair out over being “found out” by Oli and Vicky. Leti is much more complacent about the whole incident. He tries to convince her for the millionth time that he doesn’t care about his wife, but he does about his son. She’s tired of his crap, for the millionth time and wants him to leave. He still wants to spend the night with her, but she doesn’t want to have to listen to his whining. He promises and chases her around the bedroom until she lets him catch her.

The three Lady Rascals have gone for a fun run by the water’s edge. Carlos suddenly “shows up.” He wants to talk to Ale. She’s really angry with him. He can’t just show up here. These are her work colleagues. He says he can’t stand letting Bustamante trotting along behind her. Ale says they were out among friends and that includes Ric. Carlos knows he acted like a jerk, but he doesn’t want her angry with him. She must understand that he only wants to recover what they had before. Ale says it’s not working. With his attitude, she’s losing all the good memories of what they had. She marches off. Carlos says to the wind and the water that he can’t forget her.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/14/18 Chapters 73/74: Collisions at the Conference

        • Alejandra finds Victoria and Olivia and reveals her extreme frustration at being the bone Ricardo and Carlos are fighting over.  Somehow Carlos got into the conference and is now here. Vicki advises her that if she doesn’t want Carlos’s company then avoid him and assert herself. Refuse.  Yep.  That'll really work when Ale's like a she-dog in heat and Carlos--the wolfhound--can't stop sniffing around.

        • Susanna stays on the beach to enjoy the salt and sand adventure while her devoted son has to head off to the conference.

        • Back in Mexico City, Candy Man is waiting for Elena to join him for lunch.  She immediately goes into how the night they slept together and they woke up late the next morning and she raced home to find the kids had already called Ric to have him take them to school, etc., that then came the big row because she’d come home so late, and sob, sniffle, sob. She suggests that the only solution in keeping Ric from taking them away from her is to sacrifice her relationship with Candy Man—yes, give up being a good time gal again.  (Viewerville notes the selfish she-hound should have done this the first time he offered her a packet of nose candy and told her how great it would make her feel.)

Recommended by Alfredo. It’s not too late to catch up. Recaps for prior episodes are available (see the Index)
    Episode #9 (Thu Jun 14)
Lety narrowly escapes a sexual assault by Rogelio with luck on her side. Her father comes looking for her. After Rogelio leaves, he cautions Lety for the millionth time that Rogelio is a bad man. Lety replies that she only has eyes for one. Her father knows Santi will never be for her. Lety says, we’ll see.
Nosy Rafie tries to get information out of Renata by offering to help her unpack. Things go quite pleasantly. Rafie learns that it was Francisco that asked Ren to look up her tío Demián. Ren, in turn, learns Al and Santi aren’t Rafie’s own bio-kids and she’s Dem’s second wife.
Santiago tries to convince his father that his idea is sound. A scruffy Dem rejects the idea and rebuffs his son, for the millionth time. (NOTE: Santi got his hair cut between the Patio meeting him yesterday and today. I’m also happy he changed into a maroon sweater later.) Dem forces Santi to have a “double” date with Flo and Ren—to introduce Ren to the sights around Puebla, so she doesn’t get bored. Dem sits down again, possibly hearing wedding bells for Ren in the not too distant future.
Lisandro finally has it out with his father, Ed. He hates having to do whatever Dem wants, especially when it goes against his principles of fairness—in this case evicting folks. He hates this job and he hates the law, which he only studied to please his father. He quits. He wants to follow his dream of getting into public relations (out of one snake pit and into another, I’d say).

At the hospital, Lili tells Pablo that she was very frightened. (Huh? What's up with that? Chicken.) Those guys wanted to take her, but luckily that didn’t happen. Pablo feels sorry for Baldo who ended up paying for something he shouldn’t have had to pay for. When Lili asks what they will do now about their own situation, Pablo doesn’t know, but suggests that they leave things as they are for now…because the reality is much more than the love they have for each other. As Lili agrees, Jorge approaches and tells Lili that Baldo is doing well and wants to see all of them. As they walk away, Lili turns back and asks Pablo if he isn’t going with them, but Pablo doesn’t think he should because it’s a family thing. Jorge urges him to go with them because he IS part of the family; so Pablo joins them with a big smile. (Awwww, how sweeeeet!)

Corazon Que Miente, Week 2 (6/11/18) Monday Kickoff: Lucia Makes a Grand Exit

    Episode #6 - Monday, June 11
Back at the crime scene, Rogelio has been watching the verbal exchange between Lucía and Demián and the awful aftermath. He runs toward the couple, picks up the gun with his handkerchief and pulls a screaming Dem off of and away from a mortally wounded Luci. Leonardo arrives 1 ½ minutes too late and Luci dies in his arms without telling him who did this to her, although he kept asking her. She had plenty of time to keep asking him to forgive her, though. He begs a passerby for help, but the next thing he knows he’s looking down the barrel of a police-held gun, to be questioned at the station.

Rafaela tries to get Sara to admit she knows of Luci’s whereabouts. Sara and the rest of the family are still looking for Alonso, who turns up at Fr. Daniel’s church sanctuary. Fr. Dan sees him and gives him his usual speech about parents being without stain, hugging Al and silently beseeching His Heavenly Boss to forgive him this little black lie. Al wants to stay with Dan, but is told he’s old enough to confront his demons himself.

Rogelio drives an out-of-control Dem back to the house. He must bring Dem out of  this sinkhole he’s thrown himself into, realizing he shot his wife to death. Rog “convinces” him that Dem didn’t shoot his wife and Rog saw nothing. He has him wipe his bloody hands on a cloth and sends him into the house. He’s to tell anyone who asks that he has a headache and that Rog took him to a meeting. After he’s gone, Rog chuckles to himself as he handles the bloody cloth—he has something on Dem now that will surely come in handy in the future.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/8/18 Chapter 70: Whining and Wining

    OFICINA CARLOS

Elena turns nasty on Carlos real quick when she hears he's dropping her case. She taunts him about being afraid of The Big Bad Vega, but he doesn't take the bait. He explains that his friend Aaron will be the face of the case, but he'll still be pulling the strings from backstage. She allows herself to be mollified.

    CASA PAULA

Alejandra returns home to the usual menopausal slumber party, replete with wine, cards, and full makeup. Her recap of the Case of the Two Bimbos turns into a PSA on making sure you don't die without a will. Lourdes promises to stop by the office so Ale can get her set up. Ale mentions that they'll even get Alonso to review the will afterward, so maybe she's trying to set her up in more ways than one.

    CASA ISA

Gustavo phones up his ex for more catering porn. "Howzabout I bring over something hot for the three of us, bebe?" "Oh no, I'll cook something up for you [tee-hee]!" Isabel is actually wearing real clothes instead of looking like a toddler who's been allowed free range of her closet because it's her birthday. In a typical telenovela, this would probably signify a Change of Heart Makeover, but in this one it's hard to tell. And frankly, who cares?

Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 102 (Part 1) Univision #99 Friday, June 8, 2018; One resignation, one missed hit, and one big setup

Last night, we left off with Fabian asking Anifer, “So, do you like your new bedroom?” But Ani says, “I want to go with my dad.” Fabian tells her, “In this house we are going to live like the family we are—with your mother and your father—that means me.” Ani says, “So are you two together again?” Maria say, “No, we are not together and that is not going to happen.” Ani then asks, “And what about Mauricio? Is he going to live with us too? Because this huge house is big enough for them to live here too!” Fabian says, “Well, maybe Renée could come here because she is your auntie. But as for Mauricio, let’s just say he will be living a life far from us. I don’t think you will ever see him again.” Ani says, “And why not? He is my daddy!” Maria tries to interrupt and say, “What Fabian is saying is something else…” But Fabian interrupts and says, “Hey there is something you are not understanding. If you are going to mention me in front of Ani, you better call me by what I am…her father, not ‘Fabian’. Is that clear?  And you, Anifer, you need to know what Mauricio did was very bad. And if you never see him again, it’s because the law says so, not me! The law. And while we are at it, you need to forget about your life with Mauricio and start your life with me—your father! Get that into your head now! That is just the way things are.” Maria just stares at Fabian with disgust.

Exlena and Toy Boy are partying heartily at The Club. However, Toy Boy isn’t quite high enough apparently.  The next possible Mr. Right offers her something probably very wrong in the way of illegal substance which she has enough sense left at this point in the evening to refuse.  However, she is taken by the moment and swept away by a need for romance--and Toy Boy’s deep tongue probes.  (Blechhhh!)

Both Maria and Renee wonder what to do.

Corazon Que Miente, Week 1 (6/4/18) Thursday Update: Fire and Brimstone

    Episode #4 (Jun 7)
We return to Don Manuel's humble home in the country, surrounded by his lands. He's waiting for Mariela to return. Instead, he's knocked out by an unseen hand--to which Rogelio is attached. To add to the maliciousness of knocking out Don Manuel, Rogelio laughs as he spreads enough gasoline to send Don Manuel to the devil, in flames. Mariela arrives just as the flames reach the roof. She's beside herself with fear and grief. She knows her grandfather is still in the house. She heard him call out. She's yelling for help. Here comes Leonardo the Lionbearted [newly minted name by Susanlynn] to the rescue. He brings out Don Manuel's body, no longer among the living. This sainted doctor is knocking on St. Peter's gates, not Lucifer's. (You can tell by the choral music in the background.) Distraught, Mariela falls over her grandfather's body while Leo covers her with his arms. The house is nothing but a pile of charcoal briquettes. Over Mariela's objections, the EMTs remove Don Manuel's body. Leo takes her to Fr. Daniel's for the night while he attends to the arrangements for the funeral. Daniel tries to console Mariela, but she just wants to be with her grandfather.

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/6/18 Chapter 66/67 Miercoles: Family Affairs

Note:  Due to technical issues you have missed information pertinent to this tale.  We are working on the problem.  #67 events are listed in the comments.

    Chapter 66: Family Affairs
I'm Christopher Mason. While many of us have been taught by our cultures that family is a sacred refuge, we learn that it can equally be a living hell. Identity theft is most common between relatives, incest is the crime nobody talks about, and – perhaps worst – most murders happen within families. Inheritance conflicts are likely to be the most common occurences of all. So while religious and social propaganda tell us about sanctuary, it is conflict that often dominates Family Affairs.
    • Alejandra and Ricardo discussed ending their relationship for the sake of his children. She said that they had to think of each other only as colleagues and he said they needed to keep their distance from each other otherwise. He said that being that close to her would provide too much temptation for him.

The action continues in the cul-de-sac:

Rodrigo goes out to greet the uniformed police officers who have arrived in the cul-de-sac while the drug dealer hides behind a fence and shrubbery between the houses.

Dulce rushes out of her house, much to the fear of Baldo, pushing him aside. She tells Rodrigo and the other policemen in the street that she has a thief living in her house and has proof. She caught Baldo stealing money from her purse.

Flor, who has been standing to the side with Rafael and Renée, overhears what is going on and sticks up for Baldo telling Dulce not to be such a pain. Dulce calls her a busybody. The drug dealer continues to watch. Rodrigo tries to quiet the situation down. One of the policemen informs Dulce that they are there to deal with a much more serious problem than a domestic complaint. Vero and Esperanza are drawn to the group to see what is going on. Everyone wonders what is going on.

Papa A Toda Madre #99: The Curious (And "Magical") Case of Fabian Carvajal

Or Daddy and Mommy Vs Daddy

The judge informs everyone present that Anifer must not leave the city during the custody hearing and he authorizes that Fabian be able to see Anifer once a day during the proceedings. Everyone nods, and Jorge goes to tell the judge something as Mauricio and Maria wait outside, stressing out about the whole ordeal. Jorge arrives a few seconds later and reveals some good and bad news. The good: Mauricio can be present during Anifer’s visits with Fabian. The bad: Anifer will be stripped of the Lopez-Garza last name. Mauricio shakes his head, dejected.

Pablo shows Lili their recently painted room and she smiles because it looks a lot bigger, with more light. Lili assumes their accommodations will be temporary as she receives a text message from Baldo. Pablo thinks they should have told Jorge that they were moving in today, but Lili reminds him that they are close, and they needed their space. Pablo nods and smiles, touching her stomach, and wishing that their family grows soon. Lili then asks to go to the bathroom but is horrified to find out that the bathroom is outside their room and it’s shared. Pablo shrugs, unsure of what to say.

I'm Christopher Mason. Life is full of lies. Ones we tell ourselves and ones we tell others. Most of them are comparatively harmless, but many have consequences. Some are even deadly. Today we will see people who – for various motives – tell all kinds of lies.
    • Alejandra had lunch with Carlos and told him that she had had a relationship with Ricardo. Papá a Toda Madre, Episode 98, 6/4/2018: I CAN Live If Living Is Without You OR Georgie Boy Plays Hardball!!

Alt. Title: The Fight for a Child Begins
    At Night—
Jorge helps drunk-as-a-skunk Baldo to his bed as Lili brings a cup of coffee. Jorge comments, “Esto es el colmo!” (not a literal translation: ‘this is the last straw’ or ‘this is the limit’). When Lili tells Jorge that he went too far in going to the club for Baldo because he’ll lose face with his friends, Jorge doesn’t care…Baldo is his son and who knows how Baldo would have ended up that night; it was a dark place that destroys people…even Kika and her sister were there…and he argued with Kika. Just then, Baldo slurs that Jorge was an ass to have left that woman, but Jorge tells him they will talk the next day and leaves. Once alone, Baldo takes a tiny baggie out of his pocket and stares at it. (Correction Baldo: a DUMB ASS.)

Corazón Que Miente, Week 1 (6/4/18) Monday Kickoff: Gran Estreno

At last, it seems Televisa and Univision have come together to give Carayers a traditional telenovela with characters with very recognizable traits. From the beginning, there is no doubt as to who the protagonistas are and the antagonistas they are up against.

This is Puebla, where the landscape is verdant,  the town vistas are inviting, the palette is bright and cheerful, houses are grand, but there are dark shadows in this two-dimensional world, including at least three separate staircases of doom. By way of  introduction to Corazón Que Miente, it should be noted that there is: The Unhappy Rich and Powerful Family; The Servants of the Rich and Powerful Family; The Not so Rich and Not At All Powerful but Happy Family; The Family Who Owes the Rich and Powerful Family Favors and Envies Their Wealth and Power; The Guy Who Has a Chip on His Shoulder; and Low and Behold, a Modern Day Plainclothes Priest. The Yin-Yang is embodied in sibling rivalries, family rivalries, lost and found loves, an infinite desire to enlarge personal wealth and an infinite desire to heal the sick and downtrodden. At the start, almost everything is in balance.

Into this mix one man returns to the town of his birth, having become a successful sculptor elsewhere. He harbors deep feelings for someone which are unresolved. He will be the instrument to upset the balance. His godmother is waiting to pick him up at the airport. They find each other. She chides him for having been away for so many years and then they depart for the palatial house he left her.

Papa a Toda Madre, Capítulo 97 (Univision 94), Friday June 1, 2018; Kika Tries to Come to the Rescue, but is thwarted later

We open with Jorge on the phone with Samuel and Sammy whining about why he isn’t there on vacation with them. [Well Sammy, if your evil mother hadn’t hidden your siblings’ passports and identification documents, all of you would be there. But your dad did the right thing in staying behind. Stop whining.] Jorge asks him to give the phone to his mother because “these are adult things” we have to discuss and it’s “not your concern.” When he talks to Dulce, all she does is go on and on and nag about how he should be with them “the four of them, united as a family.” [This is crap Dulce! You didn’t care about that when you left Jorge for your criminal drug selling, human sex trafficking boyfriend!] This goes on for a minute or two when Jorge gets tired of her nag fest and hangs up on her. After hanging up, Jorge smiles at his twins and says, “Well, that’s that. I’m staying.”

Por Amar Sin Ley, 6/1/18 Chapter 63: Love in a Time of Cholera Morbus*

Greetings law and order enthusiasts (you know who you are)—your court reporter is back after a well deserved break from the shenanigans (both professional and personal) at the Vega and Ibarra bufetes. There are the absent police investigators, prosecutors, real evidence and long drawn-out trials. But we do have a dastardly new deadly bloody crime (for which I have a crackerpot theory). It seems that our Old Guard is pretty much up to their Old Tricks and the New Folks are interjected for our viewing distraction. But that’s not why I’m here. I’ll leave the whining and the griping to those over-age, well-schooled whiners and gripers. I'm here to report on last night's events. P.S. I noticed Elena drinking too much, too. Is that a bad sign or a good sign?

*Cholera Morbus = A gastrointestinal disturbance characterized by griping……[Courtesy of Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary. There’s more, but it’s irrelevant for my purposes.]

What does Love have to do with IT?
Carlos loves money. He says he loves Ale, for whatever reason benefits him most.
Fer isn't in love with Mi Johnnie anymore even though she promised not to be one of those jealous girlfriends.
Oli is on the edge of falling in love with a man who presents himself as a decent, though deadly dull, caballero.
Alan is already in love and ready to settle down, hopefully with Oli. Or is it a smoke screen hiding an evil (or hapless) alter ego?
Leo is "professionally" jealous of Alan's attentions for reasons his colleagues find credible but counsel him not to share them with Oli.
Victoria is in denial she's already in love with Roberto but won't take the next step with Vega's resident Lothario. Flirting is sufficient to keep him within range.
Roberto loves Victoria and is chomping at the bit to make love to her.
Leti and Benji are still in lust. (Ooops they just got caught again by Carmencita.)
Ale and Ric the Bric-a-Brac must pretend they're not in love for the children's sake.
Elena loves to hurt Ric and her children.
    Elena loves her tequila.
    Ric hates Carlos (and Elena).

New Telenovela: Corazón Que Miente, Starts Monday June 4, 11 AM (EDT)

Attention Diego Olivera fans. He's back. For those of us who have been waiting for him to get another plum role, after his success in Mujeres de Negro, this one is worth a try.

Por desgracia, Corazón que Miente is coming to DAYTIME Univision (otherwise known as the vast Wasteland to where second tier telenovelas are banished when they don't fit into the nighttime schedule). Tune in at 11 am or set your DVR.

Synopsis: Mariela Salvatierra is orphaned at the age of 12, after losing her grandfather, Manuel, a death she believes was caused by Demian Ferrer. Mariel leaves the city with Leonardo del Río. Leonardo believes Demian is also the murderer of Lucía, Demian's wife (and the love of Leonardo's life). Fifteen years later, the two return to avenge the deaths of their loved ones while facing great obstacles. Ferrer is a powerful, unprincipled and perfidious man who not only takes pleasure in others' downfalls, but also does not care about the well being of his own family. Mariela and Alonso must overcome all the challenges that impede their relationship in order to live their story of love. [Adapted from Wikipedia]

Por Amar Sin Ley, 5/31/18 Chapter 62: The Rules of the Game

⦁     Carlos works his wizard of smart on the magistrate and gets Crazy Dude --who's obviously been without his nose candy a bit too long--out of jail.  It was a bad beating and the restaurant owner claimed it was because he wouldn't pay protection money to the cartel.  The magistrate wants to keep him and open a file on this.  Carlos says no can do.  It isn't legal and besides you won't find anything conclusive in the 48 hrs. he can keep him there for (I think was the argument.)

And, while this is going on, Sonia notices it's Carlos who's the crook's mouthpiece and this is a totally odd type of case for him to have messed with.  Once Carlos has Crazy Dude released, he tells Mr. Clean that El Ciego is never to "invite" himself unannounced either to his home or his office like that again.  He can call him.  Mr. Clean tells him that El Ciego is a bit old fashioned and will be put out when he hears this. El Ciego only makes visits in person.  "--Are you threatening me?"  "--No.  Just telling you the rules of the game."  "--Yeah?  Well, it's to tamp down any suspicions."
