This was very melodramatic. Why is it important what makeup and hairdo Christina wears to work? It’s not like she’s planning to work the runway in it. And then Carolina slaps her! And they get in a big argument with the numerous extras looking on yet Christina doesn’t quit and Caroliina doesn’t fire her. Then Carolina goes and weeps to Elena.

And Ramiro slaps his son. Well, he’s our baddie and that’s what badddies do.

I am fascinated that Carolina and Cristina are still trying to work together. Carolina is a major control freak, reacting constantly to Cristina. Cristina stubbornly stays the course. They both attract and repel…like magnets! Carolina has all the power, but Cristina is not afraid to stand up to her! Elena is fascinated with this. I wonder if she senses that they have a blood tie. The employees have seen much of this. It will be interesting to see if they take sides.

I hope we get more of Carolina and the priest in the confessional! Surely this isn’t the first time they have crossed paths. It shows that strong-willed Carolina also has a strong conscience.

I’m finding Carolina very interesting. She is full of contradictions and so powerful. Those close to her seem loyal. There must be a story of how she got from where she started to the pinnacle of success. I wonder what she had to endure/overcome to get there. Ramiro was part of it, no doubt.

Every scene with Santamaria is fun! He is such a great actor! He certainly loves his music business!

A.MAR #84 Parte 1(Original #86) Notes from the Couch . . .

1. Estrella confronts Porfirio about "prohibiting" Fabián from going out to fish because of "adverse" windy weather. When he tries to weasel his way out of taking responsibility for the decision, she says she will be happy to take responsibility for Fabián going out. She knows that Sergio is behind this all and if he wants war, that is what he will have.

2. Brisa tells Pascual she knows that he is afraid and so is she but what is even more terrifying is not risking it all for whaat they want and feel. Shetells him it was so hard getting into the seminary, she had to go to a local costuem shop. She cannot imagine her life without him.

3. Okay there are two boats out: one with Fabián and the other with Gabriel. Fabián is trying to contact the Alfa Sur ship telling them that the Coast Guard has been notified of their intrusion. They are violating the law. He receives no response as the ships move towards each other.

4. When Pascual says nothing and starts to cry, Brisa concludes that he has given her an answer. She wishes him the best, tells him how much she loves him and leaves. Suddenly she hears Pascual shouting out her name and there he is asking her if she truly loves him. She says she does. He loves her more than anything in the world.They kiss.

5. Fabián tells Oliver to activate the GPS and record what is happening on his cellphone so the authorities know where the Alfa Sur is encroaching on their legal fishing grounds. When after trying to get the Alfa Sur's attention via megaphone fails, Fabián fires off a flare gun warning the Alfa Sur ships that if they do not stop, not a flare gun but a shotgun will come next. The Alfa Sur ship turns around. Fabián laughs saying he scared them with a shotgun he doesn't even own.

6. Sergio is explaining his processing plant location to Nicolás. They need 10 to 15% of the town. They just acquired Gabriel's property. Sergio is confident that when the fishermen start getting hungry, the other properties will fall into their hands. A very upset Iker interrupts them. Iker tells him he does't love him, he is not his son and he doesn't want to live with him. Sergio leaves. He only wants to separate him from his father. Nicolás tries to assure him that what he is doing is not to hurt him but for his own good. He loves him and wants the best for him. He calls Gabriel. Iker sees the town map for the processing plant construction.

7. Fabián tells Estrella that he contacted the coast guard. He adds they have to find some other way to stop Sergio. Estrella says he needs to make a formal report telling exactly how things happened. She will file the complaint herself.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

8. NOOOOO!!! Estrella is waffling agin and tells Fabián that because of Erika and the tough time she is going through, it might be best to put their relationship on hold.

9. Fabián is arrested for the use of a firearm against the Alfa Sur ship. Porfirio smirks.

10. Gabriel show up at Nicolás' office where the latter criticizes him for not bringing up Iker correctly since he didn't know where he was. Gabriel scolds iker.

11. Nicolás tells Gabriel that he will win in court. Gabriel reminds that Marina is his mother and has rights, too. Nicolás agrees if she were psychologically able to care for a child but she isn't and cites her amnsia and a mental gap of 10 years (the exact age of her child). She is still in therapy and suffers from anxiety and anxiety attacks when she remembers something from the past. Gabriel insists that she isn't suffering from all that. Nicolás informs him that justice will always find for what is best for the child. That is not an unstable person.

12. Porfirio says that Alfa Sur filed a complaint against Fabián that he committed acts of aggression with a fire arm and made serious threats. Fabián and Estrella disagree. Porfirio shows them a recoding of Fabián shooting something into the air. Fabián clarifies it was a flare gun shot as a warning. Porfirio says that was followed by Fabián threatening them that bullets would be coming next. Fabián argues eh was only trying to scare them. He doesn''t even own a firearm. Porfirio says an investigation will be done and in the mean time Fabián will be under arrest.

13. Gabriel puts it all together. He sees that Nicolás and Adriana are gong to try to make Marina look like she is crazy. Nicolás says that isn't it. He doesn't know if Marina would be able to withstand the stress of a court fight like this. Gabriel reminds him that he is the one causing all of the stress now. Nicolás agrees and that is why he made the suggestion that Marina get custody of their son . . . Gabriel adds if he leaves Iker forever behind. Nicolás knows that Marina will never accept that so the only one who can fix the situation is Gabriel, that is if he really cares about Marina and Iker.

14. Fabián argues his case to the officials. He has never owned a firearm.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

15. Sergio appears. He tells Fabián that he went over the line this time taking action against a ship. Fabián tells him to cut it out. They both know why he is there. Sergio plays the victim and says with all of this aggression being shown him by Fabián, maybe he needs a body guard.

16. Gabriel thinks that Nicolás must be crazy. Nicolás answers no because it is the only want Marina will accept his offer. Gabriel will never abandon his son. Nicolás informs him that if that is the case, he will get custody of Iker and take him so far away that neither he or Marina will ever see him again. He chose Adriana to be his lawyer because he knows she will do whatever is necessary to win in court like finding evidence that cannot be refuted. He shows Gabriel a report by Marina's therapist who, by the way, agrees with him. Marina suffers from severe post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, panic attacks. Nicolás asks if he ever experienced Marina waking up in terror on the middle of the night after suddenly remembering something. He has. Marina's recommended treatment includes anti-psychotic drugs along with continued therapy. Gabriel insists that Marina is not sick and he knows it. Nicolás repeats that he is making Gabriel this offer so Marina is not destroyed in court. He also believes it is best for his son to be with his real parents.

17. Oliver shows his video to Estrella who agrees that Fabián only used a flare gun and had not other firearm. Valentín says they called the coast guard for help they were told that there was another emergency. Supposedly two boats crashed into each other. Estrella is curious and decides that they need to find out everything about that emergency. Was there really a collision or was it just an excuse for the coast guard NOT to get involved? Was this an excuse to arrest Fabián? Gonzalo thinks Sergio is behind it all to destroy Fabián.

18. Fabián tells Sergio that he knows he is behind this all and when he is out of there, he will be back out on the sea making sure that Sergio follows the law. Sergio says his tone sounds like a threat. Fabián adds that they refuse to be intimidated by his dirty ways of doing things.They will also stop him building this processing plant. Why doesn't he take his money and put it in something worthwhile. Sergio asks if he is accusing him of paying bribes. He thinks Fabián is obsessed with him. Could it be because he knows that he and Estrella will always have a connection because of Azul? As he leaves, he reminds Fabián that he never loses.

19. As they arrive home, Iker is telling Gabriel that he doesn't want to be around Nicolás. He is a bad man. He scares him. He was up to something with Azul's father when he arrived at the office. That is of interest to Gabriel. Iker thinks they were working on something very bad. Gabriel concludes that the construction contract for the processing plant went to Nicolás. Gabriel calms Iker down. He says he knows what he needs to do to solve the problem.
 

A.MAR Parte 4

20. Estrella, as president of the union, appears demanding that Fabián be released immediately. Porfirio addresses her saying it is a difficult case as he acted against an Alfa Sur ship. Valentín, Perla and Oliver are there as witnesses. Estrella also has a recording of everything that happened. to counter the Alfa Sur version. Perla brings up the fact that they have proof of a call that was made to the coast guard asking for help . They could not help them due to the collision of two boats that had just occurred. Porfirio loks uncomfortable but says that is right. Estrella says the problem is that there is no record of any such collision in any log book. Valentín asks if there was no accident, why didn't the coast guard come to assist them. Was it negligence or something else??? Estrella informs Porfirio that either he makes sure that Fabián is released or they will have to do their own investigation to see if there is any corruption going on. Then they will be filing a complaint against him. She adds he could be taking a fall himself for corruption.

21. Gabriel tells Marina that Iker needs to stay with her tonight because he doesn't want to see him packing up the house. It would be too upsetting. Yes, he is turning the house over to Sergio. He has no choice. He only wants Iker to be well. . She reminds him he can come stay with her. She tells him he is not alone and he can count on her. He knows that.He tells her that Nicolás and Sergio are working together.

22. Fabián is back home. He tells her that Porfirio looked worried and sees him as the key to making Alfa Sur fall. He is going to meet with Porfirio and see if he can corner him.

23. Gabriel tells Marina about what Iker said to Nicolás. He is frozen with fear. Gabriel tells her that Nicolás is sure that he will win custody if they go to court and he tells her in no uncertain terms why. They do not think she is psychologically stable enough to have custody of her son. Marina doesn't know how he could say that. It isn't true. Gabriel says that doesn't matter. He has a report from her therapist attesting to that fact. It is killing him but the best is for him is to leave his son.

24. Fabián takes Porfirio out for a beer and tells him how things are in town with Sergio and his plans. Sergio will keep pressuring people to sell and Fabián's side will keep fighting back agist him. People like Porfirio who are corrupt and have been getting money under the table are gong to be the big losers. Porfirio denies he is one of those people. He has never taken a bribe.
Fabián says there is still time to get on the fright side of things. Porfirio says he is barking up the wrong tree. Fabián is not pleased and leaves money on the table for his beer. He doesn't want Sergio paying for it.
 

A.MAR Parte 5

25. Marina still wants to go to court. Gabriel says that Nicolás will use the therapist's report. She thinks it is only a matter of preparing themselves better. She can get another evaluation more to her favor. Gabriel is brutal in describing how they will attack her. Nicolás will present himself as an educated man without psychological problems; a father who has sacrificed himself searching for his son for ten years; who can give him a stable home. She on the other hand had disappeared for ten years; she has no idea where she was; she appeared half-dead; she has PTSD; she has amnesia; she is under psychiatric care and medication; it is as if she were a new born, as if she were just learning how to stand. Marina is upset with his cold delivery. He informs her that is how it will be in court. Nobody is going to pay attention to him as Iker's adoptive father. That is why custody will be given to Nicolás.The judge will have been bought. He knows now that is why and how Nicolás and Adriana got Sergio to cheat him out of his house. Gabriel has concluded the only choice is Nicolás' choice because he will not see Iker be forced to go live with that miserable man. Marina asks him not to do it and give her time to run everything by Felipe. All that Gabriel cares about is that Iker does not have to suffer.

26. Erika is in her room when she gets a call from Sergio. She has to cut is short because Fabián is there to check on her. She heard what happened and asks if he is okay. He only wants settle things with Sergio. She advises him to avoid more problems with him. She and her baby need him more than ever. She snuggles into his shoulder. (YUCK)

27. Gabriel stops by Marina's place. He says he is sorry he missed supper but people were coming by to pick up furniture. She did talk to Felipe who refuses to represent her. She is still sure she will find a way to win. He knows and he asks to give Iker a kiss. She says of course. Iker is having a nightmare and wakes up. Gabriel says he had to stop by and give him his good night kiss. iker was having the same terrible nightmare. He was in a boat with Gabriel and his mother. The fog came but this time it didn't take her away it took him (Iker) far far away. He ran to find Gabriel but he couldn't find him anywhere. Gabriel calms him down holding him and telling him that will never happen. Iker is not going anywhere. Iker doesn't understand why they just can't get in the boat with the mermaid and sail away far away from Nicolás. Gabriel says they ahve to do things the right way. Gabriel says he will take care of him and protect him. He asks if Iker trusts him. Iker does. He gets a text from Nicolás that if Marina doesn't accept his demand, tomorrow he will be filing for custody of Iker. He asks Gabriel to to help him avoid that. Iker wants to know who the text was from. Gabriel tells him nothing but to go to sleep. He will stay awhile with him.

28. Brisa arrives home with Pascual by her side. She says Pascual has decided to be a "father" . . . the father of her children!!!! Everyone cheers.
 

A.MAR Parte 6

29. The next morning, Iker is looking for his father at Marina's. His SUV is still outside. Where could he be? She sends him to brush his teeth. She gets a call from Gabriel who is at the bus station(?) with a back pack. He tells her to listen to him calmly. He is not going to argue about the decision that he made. He will not allow his son to continue to suffer any more. He knows he will be fine with her. She tells him what he si doing is a mistake. She wants to fight to the end. He is convinced they cannot win and refuses to put Iker though it. He is doing this for Iker's sake. He has to go.

30. Sergio calls Erika again. Why did she hang up. Fabián was there and has been going through tough time due to him. He thinks that Fabián should get used to it. He informs her that tomorrow she will get a basket filled with baby gifts. At the bottom of the basket there will be a package. She is to take it and hide it somewhere in Fabián's room like in a closet or in a drawer. She wants to know what he is getting her into. He angrily tells her to just do what he wants. When the police come to search the house, she is to not say not a word. She guesses it is a firearm they are talking about. . She concludes he wants to frame Fabián for everything that happened at sea. He thinks that Fabián is a danger to society and needs to spend some time in jail..

31. Estrella arrives at Fabián's house to go see Erika. Gonzalo tells her to go on in.

32. Erika says she cannot send Fabián to jail after all she has done to be with him. Sergio says he can easily tell him the truth about her "pregnancy." He adds that Fabián would only be in for a couple of months. That could work in her favor. That would give her chance to get a baby and present it to Fabián as his own. He would have a happy family waiting his return. She makes it clear she is very grateful for what he has done for her.

33. Estrella is outside of Erika's door and can hear her talking. Erika continues saying he has no right to ask her to do something like that. She addresses him as SERGIO and says she is sorry that she cannot help him.

Jarifa, thank you for the outstanding recap of this very grim and pivotal episode. Your writing conveyed all the action, heartbreak and hopelessness perfectly. I was lost throughoutmost of the dialogue and you cleared up so much for me.

This marvelous passage deserves to be repeated in its entirety: "Gabriel is brutal in describing how they will attack her. Savage but heartbreakingly and horribly true.

Gabriel thinks he is doing the right thing but of course, he isn't. Nicolas will never willingly give up custody of Iker. Further, I wouldn't put it past him to get rid of Marina so he and the foul Adriana can raise him together (not that she would want Marina's child of course). With the best of intentions, Gabriel has now left Marina alone as the wolves circle. I've said it before and do so again with even more conviction. Nicolas will not survive...

What a hornet's nest! I can't wait to see what happens.

So Felipe wouldn't represent Marina. Was it Nicolas or the above that led him to abandon her. Fair weather friend indeed.

Fabian's (Davy's) slingshot (the flare gun) was enough to scare off Goliath. True nerve and steady emotions. But still, Sergio marches on unabated. They have to somehow reveal his treachery. But how?

Estrella really didn't hear anything too damning did she? Here's hoping Erika keeps talking...

Poor Iker is going to be beside himself when he realizes Gabriel is gone.

The one bright spot was Brisa and Pascual returning home; the "father" line was adorable.

Diana, thanks. That truly was a David and Goliath moment! You also called it the other day that the custody case would need a King Solomon to decide. Yes, Gabriel made the Solomonic decision. Truly selfless. Aside from Nicolás dying or being sent to jail for a good long time, I cannot see any way out of his dominance in the custody case.

Felipe refused to represent Marina because he felt it would jeopardize his friendship with Nicolás.

I wanted more Brisa and Pascual. I though I would never ever say that.

Here is hoping that Estrella's hearing is good. We have only four episodes left!!!

Thanks Jarifa, that was excellent. What a mess all the way around. The only bright spot was Brisa and Pascual. I also never thought I’d say that.

I was just assuming If Gabriel leaves, Marina will get Íker. But it seems I’m in the minority and popular opinion is he will take Íker from Marina. I can’t imagine poor Íker with Nicholas and Adriana. They will make his life a living he….

I don’t see how everything will be resolved in four episodes. They will be fast and furious. We have Sergio, a murderer, Adriana, attempted murder and completely wicked, Jojuan, covering up two murders, Porfirio and Erika’s mom, murder, robberery and taking bribes. Erika, a coniving b…..ch. Will she stop at framing Fabian? And How does she plan to get a baby-kidnapping! I thought she’d just say she lost it once she’s sure Estrella is done with Fabián.

Just FYI: We have a good discussion going for this great Turkish dizi starring Engin Akyurek. This weekend we are transitioning to a new format, doing five one-hour episodes on weekends (when most of us have more free time). This leaves weekdays free for our current TN/dizis. Thanks, Liz. Loved your "fast and furious" list. Wow! Sometimes, I forget all of the mayhem the villains have caused. I couldn't agree with you more about Erika. Will she go for Sergio's plan? With four episodes left, there have to be some life changing events.
