La Fea Más Bella #245 4/3/07 "Never say Never"

The ladies of the cuartel are discuss how to make Lety fall in love with Aldo. Fernando, covering his eyes, enters the restroom. He keeps them covered until the cuartel confirms that no one is naked. (I don't know about you, but I generally don't get naked in the bathroom at work! Such a man's fantasy!) When Fernando questions the cuartel's actions, they explain that they're in the bathroom to talk about business. Since they've played right into his hands, Fernando goes along with the game. He sits down and asks the ladies what they think about Aldo remaining in the business. The members of the cuartel glance nervously at each other. They then flock around Fernando and sing Aldo's praises. Fernando pretends to agree, to the cuartel's joy. Juana tells Fernando that Aldo wrote a dedication to Lety in the book. This causes him to "hop" away from the bench. For some reason, Sara tells Fernando that the book with the dedication is sitting on Lety's desk. Dr. Jekyll goes away and out comes Mr. Hyde. Fernando becomes very cold and tells the cuartel that he's heard enough and it's time for them to return to work. They freeze. He leaves. Irmita and the cuartel cross themselves, nervous because now Fernando has an idea of what they are up to.

Out in the secretaries lobby, Fernando breezes past Alicia. She says that he looks sick. He agrees. He's sick with jealousy. Alicia (oh so intelligently) asks if Fernando wants her to call a doctor...or Marcia! No, he says he's not crazy, he just went into Conceptos other board room. He briskly walks away leaving Alicia to wonder if he's going crazy.

Fernando walks into Lety's office, complaining about the dedication in Aldo's book. He conjectures about what Aldo would write: "Your lips are richer in flavor than poblano. To kiss you is more flavorful than chocina pibil. (A dish made out of pork.) Fernando searches through the cabinets for the book. He finds one, but it's not "The Flavor of Life"! Lety: "Don Fernando is incredible with me. When he protects me tooth and nail. When he believes with me and when he pleads with me not to abandon him because he needs me. He, who has everything, needs a woman like me. I don't know how to tell him that I also need him. He needs me for work and I need him for love." Fernando realizes that in his hands he holds Lety's diary.

Alicia talks to her image in the mirror, just like the witch in Snow White! Marcia observes Alicia doing this and asks if Alicia is crazy. Alicia says that the crazy one is Fernando. First, he broke up with Marcia because he's still in love with the mustached corn cake and now he followed the cuartel of witches into the women's bathroom and said he wanted to be part of the cuartel! Now he's in Lety's office. Marcia wonders what he's doing there since Lety's in Tomas's office. Marcia decides it would be better not to meddle. She decides to leave. Before she does she hands Alicia some papers to file. Alicia looks at them as though Marcia's trying to hand her a dirty rag. Alicia says she's too busy for that type of thing. Marcia drops the papers on Alicia's desk and leaves.

An now, a classic soap opera/telenovela moment! Watch as the forlorn woman, left by her man, talks to herself and takes long pauses, just to look extra sad! Marcia asks herself what do to do, and then enters the elevator.

In Tomas's office, Lety freaks out. Dona Marcia was right, this is all her fault. She's not qualified! Aldo tries to calm Lety, saying the campaign is going very well. Lety's still upset. She cannot believe that she didn't monitor Luigi more closely. Aldo thinks he should share that blame. Lety replies and says that Aldo upheld his part, the problem is Conceptos' debt. Tomas agrees. Also walks over to Lety. Rather then hugging her or talking to her, he decides to pet her just like a cat. He thinks they should go over this tomorrow, when they can come up with some solutions. Aldo and Lety leave Tomas's office; Lety complains all the way.

Lety and Aldo interrupt Martha talking to the cuartel about Fernando. The cuartel shows concern, but Lola slips and says "We haven't said anything to Don Fernando." Apparently, the way to get Lety out of a funk is to mention Fernando and piss her off. She snaps immediately to attention and asks what they are talking about. Sara immediately recovers and says not to pay
attention to Sara. She turns her attention to Lety. Aldo tells the cuartel not to worry; he'll take care of Lety. After he and Lety leave the room, the rest of the cuartel scolds Lola.

Like the bad boy he really is, Fernando continues to read Lety's diary. "The engine of my life and my feelings should be work. The only think that can save me is working for him. I'm going to be the shadow and the breath of Don Fernando." Fernando overhears Aldo encouraging Lety to enter her office. He hides the diary just in time for Lety and Aldo to enter the room. Lety asks Fernando why he's in her office. "Our office", Aldo corrects her. (oooooooohhhh, my face just got really hot! You overbearing, co-dependent woman creating man! I could take yoga, burn incense and chant everyday and I would still want to punch you for that comment!)

Irmita still thinks something is going on with Fernando. In all the years she's worked at Conceptos she's never seen a President in the office. (Yeah, I'm guessing that wasn't a popular place for Humberto.) Juana thinks it's obvious that Fernando wants to know about Lety and Aldo. Sara asks if this means he's jealous. Irma goes one step further and thinks this might mean that Fernando is in love with Lety. The rest of the cuartel doesn't buy this theory.

Fernando explains that he was looking for the balance. Lety asks him which balance it is that he wants. The one from the last month, he explains. She pulls a folder off her desk and hands it to him. Before Fernando can leave, Lety thinks it would be a good time to talk about the balance from the expo. Fernando thinks it would be better to talk about it at another time. Aldo smugly says that this doesn't appear to be a good time to talk about it. Fernando finally agrees with Aldo. He leaves.

Alicia watches Fernando walk through the secretaries area. She tells him that she's worried about him. He leaves without hearing her argument.

Tomas talks to himself, about how the balance just isn't fair. His phone rings. Since he's so excited, it must be Alicia. It is and she wants to leave. Tomas gurgles some cologne and takes off for his woman.

Aldo continues his sexual harassment and massages Lety's shoulders. He thinks that everyone should share the blame. Lety points out that Marcia and Fernando were gone on there trips during the preparations. Aldo decides Omar would be the best one to blame. He worked closely with Luigi and should have observed the over-spending. "Yeah, but we're talking about Omar Carvajal." Lety replies. Lety acknowledges that she is the president and this is her fault. Aldo leans in and says that this type of thought will destroy her and that's not good.

Fernando continues to read Lety's diary. "I renounce love. I already confirmed that no one will fall in love with me. A beautiful woman has won simply because she's beautiful. And I am ugly, but Don Fernando doesn't fix on that. To the contrary he needs me." Fernando's eyes well with tears. He confirms to himself that he needs Lety, in order to stay alive.

Aldo goes on about happiness and how life without it sucks. He walks away and asks Lety to move with him to Acapulco to work and live with him. She could work as his business manager in his restaurant. Aldo knows how to cook the finest dishes, but he has no idea about finances. Lety stands and says there is no way she could possibly go to Acapulco. Aldo corrects her again and says that it's not that she can't. It's that she doesn't want to go. Yes, she confirms, because she has an obligation to Conceptos. Aldo says that her only obligation is to Fernando. Aldo points out that Lety quivered when she handed Fernando the balance sheet. She thinks it has more to do with the fact that Fernando was snooping around her office. Aldo says that he'll give Lety one opportunity to show that Fernando does not interest her anymore - she should come with him to Acapulco.

Fernando's still reading. Lety - "In these moments I'm the most important woman for him. More than his own girlfriend. But at the same time, I don't exist like a woman. I heard him say that he doesn't hope to encounter the woman of his life. If only Fernando knew that I am here."

Lety leaves her desk again. Now she says that her obligation is to Don Humberto Mendiola. Aldo recognizes a losing battle. He goes back to how hard she worked the last month. Is this how she wants to live, leaving her life at Conceptos? Lety says yes, it has to do with her word and her honor. Aldo offers Lety a new office in Acapulco, with a view of the ocean. He paints a picture of total harmony. They can recuperate their happiness; she won't have to suffer here anymore. Lety agrees that this does sound reasonable. Aldo keeps going. In Acapulco they can enjoy their freedom, just them and their sea.

Maybe Alicia is right; maybe Fernando is really going crazy. He sees an apparition of Lety and reaches for her hand. She pulls it away. She talks about how he never realized that the love of his life was right there. She never figured out how to show him. Fernando agrees and confirms that Lety is the love of his life. He stands by her as she begins to recite another entry from her diary. It's from the night they first kissed. Fernando begs Lety to forgive him. He leans in for a kiss, but Lety isn't there.

Lety thinks about her life without Conceptos. Aldo continues to extol the virtues of Acapulco. Lety asks him to let her think about it. Aldo agrees, but says that Lety must remember that she's the most important thing. They wave goodbye to each other.

Lety walks through the secretaries lobby. Fernando waits for her to enter the elevator. He leaves his office and goes to the bat cave. He continues to read. "Lety" reappears. He tells her that he wishes he could turn back time, so that none of this had ever happened. Lety continues to recite the words of the diary. Fernando reads with her about when she first confessed to him how much she loved him. "Lety" takes over at the part when she talks about how she's been hurt by love before, but she has faith that this time everything will turn out okay because he's a great man and she believes in him. Fernando sits on the floor, unable to read anymore. "Lety" continues to recite about the night they first made love. Fernando decides to read some more. He picks up with the night they made love for the second time. He cannot believe the line "men clean and honest, like Fernando Mendiola." He asks himself repeatedly "What did I do?"

Lety searches her desk at home for the diary. She realizes that she left it at the office. Julieta enters and asks what is wrong. Lety tells her mom that the expo was a success, but they didn't make enough money. Julieta cannot believe this. She also realizes that Lety has another worry. Lety tells Julieta asked Lety to live with him in Acapulco.

Julieta doesn't like the idea of Lety living so far from home. Lety says she doesn't know what to do. She's still very much in love with Aldo. She cannot say this to Aldo, because she doesn't want to hurt him. She just can't love Aldo. Julieta understands this but she doesn't think it's fair that Lety's still in love with Fernando. Julieta thinks that her daughter must forget about Fernando.

It's the next day at Conceptos and Fernando is still in the bat cave. He wakes, asking for Lety. He immediately opens the diary. The first entry is from the day Lety found "The Letter." Fernando pulls himself into the chair and cries some more. He cries and his tears fall onto a drawing in the diary.

For breakfast, Tomas and Alicia go to La Noir. Alicia eats a steak and has a glass of red wine. Tomas cannot believe she's going to eat that after all she ate the night before. Alicia distinguishes between a good appetite and hunger. Alicia talks about her empty refrigerator and this somehow makes Tomas remember the night they slept together. Alicia scolds him, because it will make her throw up. That night was horrible. Tomas agrees that they have contradictory opinions. Alicia reminds him that he did not leave the check that he promised to leave. Tomas thinks that they have many nights to fix that. "Not even in your dreams will you sleep with me again." (Never a good thing to say in novelaland, Alicia!) Tomas points out all the nice things that he's done for her. He toasts himself. Alicia continues to eat.

We interrupt this presentation for a commercial break...Lety drives up in her Focus. She gets out of the car and Celso compliments her...car! Lety confirms that the car is very pretty and very good with gasoline. She puts Celso in charge of the car. He says he'll care for it just like it were his. Celso clumsily pulls the car into its spot.

Fernando talks around his office, saying that he is the worst thing that ever existed. He should never have been born. He begins to throw things around the office. This scares the cuartel. They urge Sara to check it out. She whispers Fernando's name through the door but he shouts for her to leave him alone.

Alicia comes into the room, talking all about her meal. The cuartel isn't interested. They want Sara to call Omar. He's the only one who can go into that office. AT that moment, Omar glibly enters the room. Sara grabs him and says that Omar needs to take care of Fernando. She throws him into the office. Omar sees the one vase on the floor and a dejected Fernando standing by the back door. He asks what's wrong, but Fernando doesn't want to play today. Omar recognizes that Fernando didn't even go home to sleep. Fernando tells Omar that he wants to be alone. He really should be in hell.

Tomas enters Lety's office. (Anyone else notice that the painting is upside down even though no one turned it?) Lety notices that he is unusually happy. He is because he ate with his woman. Tomas wants to change the subject and leaps forward to the chairs in front of Lety's desk to tell her that he went over the accounts and everything is not lost. They have some pending accounts. This doesn't mean that they'll make the full payment, but the debt will be less. Lety thinks this won't help. She tells Tomas that Aldo asked her to go to Acapulco, but she doesn't know what to do. She would love to leave, but... Tomas thinks it's a good idea for Lety to go to Acapulco. It's time she does something for the most person...herself. Tomas says that he can take charge of Conceptos with a little help. He'll only leave Conceptos if his woman leaves with him. Lety rushes to him and thanks him. They dance for joy.

Aldo talks on the phone about returning to Acapulco to open the restaurant. He's going with a special person. He's been waiting a long time for this moment. (and we've been waiting a long time for you to just leave!) The gentleman on the other end informs Aldo that there is a chain that is very interested in purchasing the restaurant. It has an excellent offer. Aldo says that he will never sell his dream.

The cuartel wonder about Don Fernando. He's been like this since yesterday. Irma, the only perceptive one of the bunch, knows that this has to do with Lety. She knows that Fernando is jealous of Aldo. Lety enters the crowd and asks about what's going on with the cuartel. Sara says they're talking about the novela they watched last night. Martha decides it's time to tell the truth. Yesterday, they told Fernando that Lety was going to marry Aldo. Lety is muy impactada.

Ugh! Aldo was such a jerk in this episode! "If you're really over him, you'll drop everything and come work for me." Don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya, pal!
Anyone who thinks Fern hasn't suffered enough needs to watch this episode AGAIN. And AGAIN!

Tani

Tani, I am with you on this one. Of course Lety should be able to think for herself, but Lety by the by, you screwed up big time with the finances...and you got all bitch snippy with Fer cause he walked in "Yourins" office, pleeezeeee, dare we forget that while Lety & Aldo want to run off to the beach, Fer is still responsible to a lot of people and for a lot of jobs. I really want Lety to get over herself, and stop hiding behind the childish poor poor pitiful me routine. I seriously hate Aldo. He just way creeps me out damn the guys hands are everywhere all the time...I saw the bend Lety backward over the desk scene four months ago, seriously I hope it was as good for her as it was for him. I thought most guys quit that somewhere around the time they were actually old enough to have real sex, but hey what do I know.

Thanks for the recap JR. While I'm not a fan of Aldo, tonight was a turning point for me. He needs to leave (as Tani said) quickly. His happy thoughts are becoming frightenly controlling. His words of encouragement are becoming words of manipulation. And as Beckster said, Lety needs to own up to a lot of stuff and stop whining. Wake me up when Aldo's gone (not a spoiler; my deparate hope especially after seeing Fern's tears).

Karen

Sorry about that Amanda. Thanks for your recap. I read the Destilando recap first.

Karen

Amanda, I really liked your recap..thanks for the details. This has gotta be tough to recap, no action but endless, yammering

This was such a great episode for Jaime Camil fans. What a great performance. Although Fern shouldn't have read the diary, that's what the writers gave him. Anyway, he was so moving.

And Alpo was so horrible! I cringed watching him lean Lety over the desk. But Lety really has to stand up for herself. She should not have let this budget mixup happen.

And P.S. Alpo was a jerk in telling Lety to run off. His advice that she has no responsibilities at Conceptos is quite misquided and self-serving.

Ninak, I agree that Aldo's advice to Lety was misguided. She took on the presidency because she felt responsible, doesn't need to leave before the job is done. And I love the Alpo instead of Aldo. (Alpo=dog food).
Ay, Fernando. No one can do sorrowful tears any better than he.
He just broke my heart and I had to watch it over again.

I'm with you guys. The more I see of Aldo, the more I don't like him. I used to be neutral towards Aldo but loved Fernando. Now I can't stand Aldo. Did I miss something? Since when did Lety's office become Aldo's? Also, why would Lety need his one chance to show she was over Fernando. When has Lety ever told Aldo anything except that she was still in love with Fernando?

If Lety goes to Alcapulco with Aldo the noose would only get tighter and tighter around her neck. Aldo has already changed dramatically since their early days -- only imagine what would happen if Lety lived in HIS house and Lety worked in HIS restaurant and Aldo had all control. Lety would be away from her family and Tomas and would have no one but Aldo, which is exactly what controlling/abusive men try to accomplish. Aldo wants Lety to have no one to turn to but him. I DON'T LIKE ALDO AT ALL ANYMORE!

I totally agree about Alpo, Also, Aldo whatever. I didn't not totally dislike him (he was okay cuz he was into Lety and all that) but now I just don't like him, and to top it off he tells Lety let's go to Acapulco together. Auggh!!!! Hello, there is not enough money for debt, I thought it was Lety's responsibility as Prez to make sure it gets paid. I thought that was part of the whole deal in making her Prez to begin with.

Fern reading the diary, so sad. He was really good, I wanted to cry during that.

I can't take credit for "Alpo." Someone else came up with that a few weeks ago. Was it Julie?

Thanks so much Amanda!

Gee wiz Lety, you are the boss and guess what? It's your fault Luigi was not controlled!!!
Your job now is to stay and fix the mess and carry on with your accepted responsibilities!!!!!
Sure, we all would like to run away to the surf and sand but we have to learn to be RESPONSIBLE adults and take care of business (whatever that is). Whew!

Fernando I love you even more and I think you have suffered way more than needed for redemption.

Alpo is WAY too controlling and is verging on Stephen King scary!
Grow up Lety and stand alone!!!

Carrie L.

Yesterday I read on another site that Rosy O'Campo really identified with the Lety character...think about that as this drags on. Hey I'm not Dr. Phil, but this screams serious issues. It also explains the huge
deviation from the orginal Betty La Fea. I wonder if Rosy O'Campo buys Juan's feminine products?

I'll admit, I couldn't veil my Aldo-hate in this recap. I hate a man who thinks no means maybe. I'm ready for him to go!

I think Alpo is really contributing to Lety's stress. His pressure is getting out of hand and very scary. It especially aggravates me because he knows she loves Fernando! He is becoming more and more psycho stalker as the days go on. And I missed the scene with the cuartel and Fernando in the bathroom. When did they tell them Lety and Aldo were getting married?!

Lauren

Has Alpo (great suggestion) slowly been becoming the psycho stalker most of us feel he's become? It seemed just last week when he overheard Fern talking to Lety that Alpo was not bad.

Connie's statement about Alpo's desire to separate Lety from her family and friends is true and frightening. Though as much as I dislike him now, he hasn't always been like this (or was I being too tolerant of him)?

Karen

I never thought I'd say this, because I was a big Aldo fan, but last night's episode has got me turning to the Fernando camp. To encourage Lety to just up and leave, so very not cool! He definitely has changed since he was first introduced, and not for the better. Sad, for those of us that liked him, but I now agree he's got to go.

I loved the scenes of Fernando reading Lety's diary. Jaime Camil rocks!

No, I didn't come up with Alpo. I wish. :) I've suggested "Maldo," but I thought that might be over the line because he was only annoying, not actually bad. Until last night!

Thanks for confirming what I thought I heard - he really did refer to Lety's office as "our" office. Never mind the constant "do you love me yet" attitude and the groping, how can he think that office is in any way his?

He keeps telling his pal at the restaurant that he has this special woman in his life. Apparently, not only does he assume that she will love him someday, but that she will live wherever he wants to and manage his restaurant out of convenience, even before discussing it with her.

Then he starts demanding that Lety take off to Acapulco with him, apparently immediately. Has it ever occurred to him that The DF is her home and she may not want to move? Why can't he wait a few months until her commitment to Conceptos will be over anyway? (I know why. Because that might give Fernando time to win her back. It was a rhetorical question. ;)

Aldo! WHAT A PIG!!! What kind of a man who claims to love you would tell you to ignore your principles and honor and leave Conceptos in the mess YOU created. I wanted to slap some sense into spineless Lety as she just sat there and actually contemplated running off to be his in-house slave. Those scenes made me seethe and O'Campo must need help if she thought turning the sweet Lety from the beginning to this brainwashed, conscienceless drone was a way to spice up the story. Someone should tell the woman that the point of the novela is for the fans to love the hero and heroine and root for them finding a way to be happy. The object isn't to totally alienate the fans and make them detest the heroine.

Thank God for those heartbreaking scenes with Fern. I don't agree with his reading the diary any more than I did Julieta but he saw a vision of himself that he hated. He really has suffered, so much more than Lety and continues to do so as he takes a hard look at himself and begins the journey to being the man he can be and that she thought he was. I couldn't help thinking he must be a terribly slow reader since it took him all night to get through the book but on the other hand he had to pause and reflect. I almost choked when he was standing by the wall getting ready to kiss the nonexistent Lety, a lot like her when she was on her desk that time with Caro.

Ah one cuartel member with enough brains to realize that fern loves Lety.

Please, make it stop. Lety has known almost from the very beginning of this novela that Luigi is a spendthrift who could not care less about “budget”. And having managed the budgets of people like him (“I’m not a numbers person, I went to art school, hahhaha.”) I know that letting self-styled “creative geniuses” spend company funds unsupervised is something you might do once, but after learning that harsh lesson you don’t let it happen a second time. Lety should have seen this coming, so she’s right, she blew it big-time and doesn’t deserve to be la presidenta. Sorry about the rant, kids, but I don’t have half of Lety’s credentials and I still know better.
Starting to hate Aldo, despite the accent...

Thank you for the recap, Amanda.
Lauren - you're so right - Aldo is adding to Lety's stress and even more so last night.

Aldo's being worn down by being away from the stress-free beach life in Acapulco, and finding it hard to live up to his philosophy of peace, love, yadayada when faced with all the challenges at Conceptos, especially Fernando.

How dishonorable of Aldo to try to persuade Lety to break her promise to Don Humberto. She'd never feel good about it.

It's fun to watch the roles change. Fernando, the "heartbreaker" is pining for Lety, "daydreams" about her, & feels that he is unworthy.
Lety, the "economista" is not doing well with the co. finances, but has Aldo in love with her.

Omar was too cute, coming to work, all fresh faced and jaunty until Sara got ahold of him. That was a funny scene.

Yuck, there is no other word to describe the creepy Aldo. He sure is a hellfire rush to get Lety out of the DF. He knows that she loves Fern and that Fern loves her and he doesn't want to give Fern the slightest chance to talk to Lety. How sneaky of him to say leave with me for Acapulco and see if Fern cares enough to come after you. Pretty stupid of him since he already knows that Fern did it once before, a fact he keeps hidden from Lety. I wonder if she would think he was such a saint if she knew what he is hiding. And all of that massaging/mauling, it's a wonder he doesn't just whip out a leash and start dragging her around. Obviously he has no respect for her ethics or wishes just wants what he wants when he wants it. No wonder his wife ran off.

Janet

Yes - I'm gaining a new appreciation for Omar.

BTW Amanda, thanks for the "Shoot the Cook" scene. Some unexpected eye-candy to brighten up my day. :)

In my book Fernando has paid his dues to Lety. He has not only apologized to her but has been supportive as well. He does not need to repent anymore. On the otherhand, Lety needs to grow up, accept responisibility for her actions, and be grateful for the attention that she is receiving from Aldo and Fernando. Not only is she fea, but her mannerisms are awkward. She has to understand that people who act that way usually attend special schools. Do we need to feel sorry for her because she has to decide whether to stay at Conceptos as President or frolic the waves in Alcapulco with Aldo? I don't think so. Fernando, you have eyes but you don't see.

Thanks so much for the recap. I AM SICK - after discovering that something went wrong last night on my DVR and only got the last 10 minutes. Didn't get to see Fernie reading the diary. Since I have been a Fernatic from the beginning (and very much against Aldo), I am so disappointed. I guess I'll have to take my chances on YouTube. waaaahhhhh!

anon 12:55
>>>>Not only is she fea, but her mannerisms are awkward. She has to understand that people who act that way usually attend special schools.>>>

Bwwwahhhaaa almost spit pop out on that one, I dunno who you are, but I am in love with you UnPCness...
Hee Hee Hee....I was thinkin it, just too afraid to type it.....
You are my hero...
Now could we talk about that moustache?

Anya,

Too funny that scene with Omar. He's all bright eyed and bushy tailed and King Kong Sara picks him up and throws him all over the place. First Fern throws him into the plant the day before and now he gets thrown into the office like meat before a mad dog. Then he has to confront Fern who suddenly pulls a Garbo and wants to be alone. Omar must think he is in some parallel universe when Fern doesn't want to talk or play with him or even fight for "The Chair".

Marcia can't get any goofier with her dramatic pause by the elevator. I have to admit I was kind of hoping some stud would get out and she would pull one of the cuartel swooning tricks and run off with him to points unknown, never to be seen again. And that hideous office color makes her look positively bilious.

Ah the mustache - it seems to me that it only appears in those scenes where Lety is acting her most stupid, which usually means any time Aldo is in sniffing distance. Somehow instead of bringing out the best in her he always brings out the worst, the vindictiveness around Fern, the adolescent mooning and immaturity, the self pitying I'm so Fea.

In reality in the last few months she has become truly fea. Ugly on the inside which she never was before. For God's sake all she has to do is talk to someone like Caro and get herself fixed up with little or no trouble. But, like the sniveling little coward she is, she hides behind her looks to avoid growing up and becoming a strong and capable woman.

I'm with Omar when he told Fern I know that love is blind but this is ridiculous.

I certainly hope that Fern has the sense to get the darn diary back into the office unseen. If he goes running after Lety to tell her again that he loves her she certainly won't either listen or believe him - the idiot!

Diane

I she doesn't go off to Acapulco and let Tomás and Robopop clean up the latest mess. She's being almost as big a drama queen as Luigi, putting her feelings before everything else. It doesn't help that Aldo won't stop messing with her head - where's Caro when we need her?

I am monumentally disappointed in Lety. Her lack of gumption has always bugged me since she did her first little flit to Acapulco but I really though she had a greater sense of honor and dignity then she is showing lately. It doesn't help at all that Aldo, Julieta, Robopo, Tomas and even the cuartel enable her behavior. The mere thought that she would buy into Aldo's blather about the only thing that is important is that you are happy is exactly the philosophy that has turned so many people's life into a pile of crap. To an extent even Cara tends to feed her weaknesses by pushing Aldo at her.

It amazes me how much she has regressed. Poor PG has to chalk her up as a dead loss but Fern is turning into a star pupil.

I'm a total Aldo fan, but I have to admit that he's not helping Lety be the best person she can be. He needs to deliver a little tough love on her--make her face her responsibilites (not put it off on someone else or encourage her to run away) afterall she is the president and whatever happens is her responsibility. She goofed up really bad by not micromanaging things at this critical time.

Lety is going to have to get good and mad and good and fed up with the manipulators in her life. Everyone (mama and Aldo) is telling her what she should do (as opposed to what she wants to do) and what she should feel (instead of what she actually does feel). they aren't listening to her. They (mama and Aldo) are dismissing her feelings and thoughts. Lety may not be coming across forceful enough with her wants so that others sit up and take notice. I really do feel a bit sorry for her because it's going to take a super human effort on her part to get Mama and Aldo off her back and to finally tell everyone the way things are going to be. She really should have started with Luigi. She should have walked in on him after the show, grabbed him by the collar and shaken him like a rag doll and fired his butt. She needs to get some self respect. C'mon Lety , you can do it.

Barb

Honestly, there really aren't that many "special schools" in Mexico, unless you have mucho dinero. The right to a free appropriate public education, regardless of disability, is a privilege we enjoy here in the states. And we didn't even always have that guaranteed. It's much more difficult to arrange for something like that in Mexico. Just for you all to keep in mind.

In fairness to Lety - which she's lucky at this point to be receiving from me - Fernie told her before he left for Nueva York that when he came back he was going to prove to her how much he loves her - and I think she's disappointed that he has not. He on the other hand told Omar that he promised her he'd leave her alone. Did he forget what he told her at the restaurant when she was losing her lunch after having to sit across from Ariel?

Wouldn't it be funny if when Aldo was doling out some of his words of wisdom his chicklets went flying out of his mouth and poked someone's (maybe Luigi's) eye out? Sandy

Fern did tell her he would show her how much he loved her but even after that she told him to keep away from her. She has consistently pushed him away so how is he going to "prove" he loves her when she won't give him the time of day.

He did tell her he would accept her wishes and is trying (which is killing most of us) but what kind of proof does Lety want anyway? Maybe tonight if he races down to Acapulco to get her away from grab hands Aldo.

Thanks too Amanda for the "kill the cook" clip. Johnny Depp is one of my very favorites!!!!!!
After seeing it I had to go to Amazon and order the movie!

Amanda, thanks for the recap! I didn't get to read it completely, but I can see the great details!

ADD THIS:
"Your lips are richer in flavor than poblano. To kiss you is more flavorful than chocina pibil. A dish made out of pork."
TO THIS:
"she can’t help it, the rhythm moves her" (from the other night's recap)
AND YOU GET:
"he needs Lety, in order to stay alive"
[is this how the formula works? --
other theories'll be interesting --
it'd be most useful to figure it out]

"Julie said... I thought they said Luigi fudged the numbers on his budgets (we could call it "pullin' a Lety") and that's Why They Were Surprised By The Numbers."
==have we heard any more on exactly how luigi pulled off hiding his excessive expenses?
or do we wait until he gets back from vaca to explain his Method?
and Why?
(since he never did this before, but then, previously lettie prevented his artistic-zeal-spending)

P.S.
"classic soap opera/telenovela moment"
Yeah, they borrow from live theatre all the time starting with each shakespeare soliquoy.

PPS.
ooohh, I dinnen know he said that:
"leave with me for Acapulco and see if Fern cares enough to come after you."

PPPS.
I looooved the moment when Alecia, leaving Marcia's office, noticed that
her SeaFoam top matched the SeaFoam wall.

"my frosted shredded wheat which I was enjoying"
so not everybody eats icecream when lfmb's on (cheesecake w/strawberries is good)

"We are all on the same page for once"
falso.
naught interested in poison but can't stop you from poison-pouring
(yaortta hear the silence as well as the few poison-pourers)
{"We love to mock here, don't mistake it for real hate." --
some of this sounds like some sort of Hate to me;
is there some other besides realHate?}
