La Fea Más Bella #247 4/5/07 Fern & Lety Are In A Tizi
In The Vortex, Marcia asks Alicia if Fern has left. Alicia has no idea, and thinks maybe he went to look for Lety. Marcia doubts it because he doesn’t know where she is [Duh! That would explain why he would have gone to look for her!]. Marcia tells Alicia to find another ride, because she wants to be alone. Alicia brags about already having another ride who is there for her at the snap of her fingers. Just then her ride Tomas sprints over to them. Marcia gives her a look that says "Ick!" and leaves. Alicia tells Tomas she wants a big meal as they leave together. The ladies of the cuartel hold a conference call from their desks - which of course are already well within earshot of each other- to gossip about Tomas and Alicia.
At the Italian restaurant, which is more like a dark nightclub with lights flashing all around, Aldo yet again tells Lety that he needs more than ever. He says he needs her to care for his finances. Lety is uneasy and says that first she wants to see how things go at Conceptos tomorrow. Since this is not the answer he wants, Aldo shushes her. Their table is small and right next to a slightly raised stage. An MC comes up and announces Tiziano Ferro [A cute young Italian pop singer who has recorded Spanish versions of his Italian albums and has had notable success in Europe and Latin America…. Thanks to Wikipedia]. Tiziano sings a romantic number and which seems make Aldo think really hard about something (I am reminded of the frequent constipated look on Unibrow on Barreras De Amor). Lety looks confused.
Fern tells Julieta how sorry is for all his misakes. Julieta thinks it may be too late. Fern continues with his case. He says it started out as scheme, but… "You fell in love?" Julieta asks. Fern agrees and says she won him over with her sweetness and with what he thinks are the most sincere kisses he’s ever experienced.
Aldo stares intently at Lety, petting her hand and then rubbing his cheek with it. Tizi’s song is romantic and passionate, but the big dummy looks straight at the camera.
After his song, the M.C. comes back onstage and tells Tizi it’s an honor to have him there. Then they play a weird game in which they blindfold Tizi with a pretty light blue pashmina. Blindfolded, Tizi is led around the edge of the stage by the M.C. Girls rush to the stage and he holds their hand one at a time, looking for the "right girl" to kiss. He rejects one girl after another for way too long until he happens upon Lety’s hand and he says "this is her" He kisses her softly on the lips, then goes to pull the blinfold off. Lety braces herself expecting a look of horror from him, but he does not flinch. Instead he says his heart doesn’t lie and he see with his soul. He tells her she is bella. She thanks him. Aldo thanks him too. Applause and bravos from the audience. Lety admits to Aldo that she enjoyed the kiss.
Julieta asks Fern why he hasn’t told Lety he loves her. Fern explains that he’s told her many many times; he’s even brought the plastic bag o’gifts with him to show her, but ever since she found The Letter that Omar the Imbicile wrote, she doesn believe a word he says. He’s done everything in his power, even breaking up with Marcia, but he has not been able to convince her (Uh, did I miss a part where maybe he actually told Lety that he broke up with Marcia to be with Lety?) . Julieta thinks the damage may be irreparable and it may be better for Fern to leave Lety alone. Fern tells her that without Lety his life is meaningless. He begs Julieta for forgiveness. She forgives him.
He asks for where Lety is. She won’t tell him and he pleads. She again rejects him. Fern says he understands, and asks for one more thing. He asks Julieta to give the bag to Lety. He says he has taken garbage out of it, and everything left inside is pure truth, specially this one - he hands her the napkin . She reads the naplin, "God know how much I love you." Fern says he wrote it when she was in Acapulco [Months ago, when he first wrote on the napkin, Julie pointed out that it must be significant to the story because he put it in his coat pocket. Looks like she was right!]. Touched by his gift for graceful and religious prose, Julieta finally gives in. She tells Fern she will trust him because if he loves she needs to know it. Just for good measure, Fern gives her the puppy dog eyes again.
Aldo rehashes his Acapulco plans again.
At another club, Omar sits at the bar. He looks re-e-e-e-eally mad and mutters to himself. Carolina comes in sits next to him. She tries to talk to him about some project, but he’s not interested. She asks him what’s wrong. He tells her how he Fern came to blows.
Fern comes into the restaurant/club and surprises Lety and Aldo. Lety asks Fern how he found her, but he says that doesn’t matter. He sarcastically thanks Aldo for trying to steal his president. Lety interjects that it was her decision. Aldo suggests that they discuss it tomorrow, but Fern refuses. He tells her that everyone at Conceptos loves her, but most of all him. Aldo looks like a third wheel (which he is). Lety tells Fern to leave her alone. Fern, giving up way to easily, agrees and begs their pardon. Aldo tries to look understanding but it comes across as smug. Fern walks away and sits at the bar next to Tizi.
Fern strikes up a conversation with Tizi, then apologizes for bothering him and swears he’s not drunk. He asks Tizi if he could write a song with the words "Only God knows how much I love you". Fern asks "See that girl over there? " as he points to Lety. Tizi says not only does he know her, but he’s kissed her. Fern is impactado, but quickly recovers. He explains that she doesn’t like that guy she’s with, she loves Fern, and he can’t bear to lose her. He adds that he’s desperate and asks Tizi if he will sing his song called "Te tomare una foto" (I’ll take your picture) for Lety.
Tizi agrees and goes stage. He announces to everyone that he has a song dedicated to Lety from… he realizes he doesn’t know Fern’s name. Fern goes to stage to tell him. Tizi thanks him and pushes him offstage.
Caro asks Omar if he and Fern fought over Lety. He tries to cover up but Caro explains that she I know everything, including Omar’s antics. She says he and Fern are both at fault, and that they continue to act like juvenile. Omar tells her he likes a lot but this is not the time for her to rub it in.
Maybe it was too dark to tell or maybe I’m reading too much into this, but the song Tizi is singing seems to hurt Aldo’s ears. Lety looks at Fern at the bar, then back at Tizi onstage. Fern eyes tear up again. Lety is close enough to see this and she is somewhere between impactada and confundida (confused) by his tears. After the song, Fern glumly walks up to the mike and says "te tomare una foto." He walks to Lety’s table again and she stands up.
Caro asks Omar what are she is going to do. Omar says he doesn’t know. Caro’s friend shows up and the two leave, leaving Omar alone again. He goes back to his muttering about how been with Fern through good and bad.
Fern asks Lety if they speak alone. Alpo stands up and says he thinks Fern has gone too far. Fern calmly asks Alpo "Oh, do you think we should talk? Maybe we can get into another fight." Lety protests and Fern clarifies that he does not intend to fight, he just wants to talk to her. Alpo tells her he’ll be waiting for her and steps away (like 3 feet away to the bar). Fern asks Lety to give him an opportunity. He says he knows she loves him. Lety sternly asks how he would know. He evades the question and says he wants to show her how much he loves her. She says it took her much work to get him out of heart, but she has succeeded. She stubbornly adds that she doesn’t love him anymore.
Fern - showing us his judgment is still as bad as ever - takes out her diary from his jacket. He opens it to a stick drawing of them and tells her how adorable it is. Then he reads from it "…My heart can’t renounce him, he’s a traitor [this makes Fern’s eyes well up again], yet he doesn’t know there is another traitor in standing in front of him." Lety is appalled! He tells her he knows it was wrong to read it, but it was worth it because reading her true feelings gave him reason to leave again. Lety is unsympathetic. She tells him she will never forgive him for reading her diary. She never wants to see him again. Alpo comes back over and leads her away. Fern repeats his new mantra "Only God knows…"
After dinner outside a restaurant, Alicia tells Tomas she could not enjoy her meal because she’s so upset at the prospect of Aldo marrying Lety. She asks if she can drive herself home. Tomas agrees and she jumps into the car. She tells him to lean in so she can reward him with a kiss, but then drives off and leaves Tomas puckered up waiting.
Lety comes home to find the bag o’gifts on her bed. Julieta tells her Fern left it for her. Lety guesses that Julieta was the one that told him where she was. Julieta wants to know Aldo did when Fern showed up. Lety says Aldo was a gentleman and allowed them to talk. Julieta shares that she thinks Fern is sincere. She argues Fern’s case saying he broke up with Marcia, and that, after being with Lety, he has not been with anyone else. She points to the bag and says Fern could not throw the treasures out as Lety wanted. She shows Lety the napkin. She notes that it is a difficult situation and leaves. Lety reads the napkin, and there is a half-smile which melts into the circle of light.

Fern, you were bad to read Lety's diary but you were stupid times three to TELL HER YOU DID. Knucklehead! And his whole "you know you're madly in love with me" approach would irritate any normal woman beyond words into the throwing-things category. This is not how to worm yourself back into somebody's graces. It's arrogant. I'm not saying Fern is arrogant, I'm deriding his choice of procedure.
Dollface Caro is probably too good for Omar, but she did handle him well. She could be a good match for him. (If he grows up!)
Tani
I have to give some kudos to Fern for confessing about the diary. I've been bashing him for months because he was never truthful with Lety--now he is. He's being totally honest which is a huge step for him.
I think Lety is still hurting over the Omar/Fern letter/participation and wants some revenge of her own. I just think she's striking out to hurt Fern the way she was hurt and using Aldo to do it. I do think it was wrong of her to put her arm around Aldo (giving Aldo a false impression that she is his) when she walked away from Fern.
Maybe the tide is turning now and Fern is growing and we'll have to go through some angst while Lety struggles with her growing pains.
I did think the actor playing Omar did a good job acting through all the emotions of hurt, dejection, guilt etc. Carolina gave him tough love--which he really needed. I liked the way she gave a chirpy "Adios Omar" and left.
Barb
I liked the song Tomaré una foto too, very appropriate for them, cuz wanted fotos of her and likes to look and share fotos of Lety.
Maybe he'll drop in sometime and post something, that would be too cool.
I agree that Omar and Carolina would be a cute couple. I think she could handle him well; maybe help him grow up a bit?

Aldo, the great poet, man of the sea,all around good guy, knew from the beginning in Acapulco what he was getting himself into with Lety.He knew of her love for Fernando, yet he comes on like gang busters with all the answers for Lety's broken heart imparting all his wonderful wisdom and life experiences.I have compassion for Aldo, but his situation is of his own making. To show courtesy last night by leaving Lety with Fernando,is what he should have done.
Someone mentioned here yesterday about Aldo encouraging Lety to forego her responsibility to Conceptos and hightail it to Acapulco to be his assistant in the restaurant. This is a message that it's all about Aldo. He sits in his Conceptos office thinking up ways to remove Lety from her job & friends. I can't have too much sympathy for Aldo.Sorry.
Well, things are moving along and we had way more F&L and way less cuartel in this episode. I agree with Barb that for once, Fern has been totally honest with Lety and finally, with himself.
I wonder if Aldo let them have the privacy to talk because he figured Fern was not going away and Aldo didn't want to sit and listen to Fern tell Lety what he wanted to say. I think this is painful for Aldo. Even if he does sort of stalk Lety, Fern has been doing the same. For a fea, she sure does have some amazing stalkers/galanes at her feet.
Caro would be good for Omar. That's promising, indeed, as some have suggested.

Fern's sad eyes and his unconcealed tears made my insides all squishy. Lety's going to have to take another look at herself, she can't turn away from Fern. Solo Dios knows how to untangle this mess.
And muchisima gracias to this weeks recappers and commenters--I feel better not agonizing alone.
what an episode!
aldo is starting to get on my nerves. When Tiziano Ferro told lety she is beautiful Aldo thanked him, exclaiming he's happy someone else sees with his soul... what?! Aldo seemed shocked that someone else sees the beauty of lety's character. But she wasn't acting too beautiful last night!
I felt so sorry for Fernando, especially when he went up to the mic after the second song
random: anyone notice that the "restaurant" was the SAME room from the turismo gastronomico expo AND the cannes celebration? How many times are we going to see those tacky bannisters and stadium seating?
Yay did "Alpo" finally catch on? Because as soon as I knew his name I started calling him Alpo because I'm very much a FYL girl (when bored I begin doodling FYL on things with little hearts) and I don't suppose I ever really gave him a chance because I'm so in love with Fernando y Lety.
And at the very end of the episode, Lety smiled once reading Fernando's note. :)
Let's all just hope for more FYL action.

So we will get Hell hath No Fury like a scorned Fea combined with Paybacks are Hell.
Hey...if the Diary was left out in the open I would have read it too...yep I am totally shallow like that and second, leave that crap at home even if Ma did tell you not too...This comes from Lety never having a sibling you have to hide things from. Most people say they wouldn't read it, but yeah they would.
Now Omar, I hope I would have had better sense than to laff right out loud in Fer's face when I saw he didn't want to play.
Problem: I find Juan Soler, rather than Aldo, inherently sexy and likeable. His likeable nature shows through even when his character gets overbearing. And there's no hiding the fact that he and Jaime like each other. When they squabble, no matter how serious the disupte is supposed to be, there is an adorable quivering of the lips indicating they might start laughing or snorting at any minute. How can I hate this guy?
Problem: is there ANY viewer in the entire world who wants to see even one more minute of the cuartel? Yet they are fodder for the extensions which must go on forever and ever.
Add to the cuartel, Tomas, I mean yeah he has been a good friend to Lety, but also as a means to get to every 12 year old boy's dream Alicia...Had Tomas thought for a second Alicia wanted Fer, he would have directed Lety that way. I for one am no longer amused...
God only knows.....
Ohm thanks Melinama for the words to "Te Tomare una Foto"
Fernando is trying so hard, bless his heart. I wish I could make all ok for him. Sigh, sigh, and sigh again.
Loved it all.
Dios Mio! Tengo Aldoitis!
Poor Omar I really felt sorry for him. I was hoping that when Caro sat down to chat that he would tell her not only about the fight but that Fern is and has always been insanely in love with Lety. Maybe then Caro might get off Team Aldo since she knows Lety's feeling for Fern. But no, another good opportunity lost.
I am sick of Lety's constant need to humiliate and hurt Fern. Let's get real. What did he do that was so awful. He romanced her to keep his business and to get her to cook the books. Not a lot different from a ton of people claiming to love some one just to hit the sack. Lety made a lot of the running in that direction. She found the letter and kept up the pretense and then suddenly and viciously exposed the plot and ran away. Her pride is the only thing that has been hurt. It isn't as if Fern raped her, stole her first born, murdered her parents, sent her to prison all of which are stock novel plots. For her part Lety has cost him his presidency, any lingering respect or love from his parents and now his best friend. The pain scale leans way heavy on Fern's side.
From one who has only watched since January.
What in earth is with those previews for tonight with ALPO sitting in on another junta meeting. He has certainly wormed his way in everywhere. And to think that Don H called Lety a desconosida, I can only wonder if he will think the same of Aldo or give him a pass because he is a man and from a higher social class. Please don't let it be that the Acapulco Guru will end up the new president. I think I'd shoot myself. Just put him on his bike and let him pedal back to "el Mar".

I doubt that her accident had anything to do with the extensions. The curse of popularity in a novela is what drives extensions. Unfortunately it ALWAYS makes them worse and drives down their popularity because nobody wants to see a bunch of new characters - Alpo and Carloca and who knows how many yet to come, odd story detours like the focus on the back story of the cackling cuartel and turns lovable characters like Lety used to be and Fern into idiots. Then the story has tyo be wrapped up in the blink of an eye cheating the viewers of a well told story. The best produced novelas somehow avoid going for the bucks and remain true to the original story like the recent Alborada and the classics like Corazon Salvaje and Cuna de Lobos.

I'm not so sure that Fern has a supporter in Mama Solis. Both she and Erasmo have totally bought into Alpo's specious charm and blathering on about family and neither has seen those spread her on the desk routines that make most of us sick. BUT, at least she no longer believes that Fern is the devil incarnate and thinks he does truly love her daughter. He really sold her when he referred to Lety as an angel. He is going to have to go a long way to redeem himself in her eyes for what he did and in Erasmo's mind for calling Lety a thief.
Let's face it since we want L & F to end up together and she won't take a breath without Mami's approval Fern has to appear golden in their eyes. Now how he is going to do it remains an interesting question.
