Te tomaré una foto (lyrics and English translation)

This is the song Tiziano Ferro sang on La Fea last night; Fern asked him to dedicate it to Lety. It totally blew me way. You can hear it and see the video here unless/until somebody takes it down... you can buy the song from the download places too...

Since I won't be here Monday to do "my" night of La Fea, I thought I'd leave you with this... Some of you are much better at this than I am, so feel free to whale away on my translation in the comments ... it's really a lovely song.

I'll take your picture

I'll remember forever, even if you don't want me to.
I'll marry you, don't expect more.
I've looked for you and I've found you, all in a little bit of time,
And because I'm afraid of losing you I'll take your picture.

I'll remember forever, and I know you don't want me to.
I'll call you, because you won't answer.
It makes me laugh, now, to think of you being a game.
I lost you, and then I took another picture,

Because you'd escape quickly from my hand,
And a day will turn quickly into a year,

And you’ll forget me.
When it rains, profiles and houses resemble you,
and it will be so beautiful...
For you, joy and pain have the same flavor.
I'd just like this night to be over quickly
and [I wish] what you've always said to me would never come back.
And I want love, and everything you always knew how to give me,
and if you only want to wound me, then I want indifference.

I recognized your glance in that of a shopgirl.
Even though if you were here I would sense you feeling distant
To be more honest I feel very small
My biggest nightmare, my enormous dream
We're children of different worlds, (but) with the same memory
That a naive person draws and erases, the same story,

And you'll forget me ... (chorus)

The memory won't be enough
I want you to come back now.

Ahora quiero tu regreso

Oh I LOVE this song!! I've heard it several times at an Italian cafe by where I keep my boat. Thank you thank you thank you for posting it and taking the time to translate it. You're awesome!

Whoa! What great lyrics and if this song hadn't been released a couple of years ago you could swear it was specially written for LFMB and that scene last night. I had just finished down loadinging and now will print a fast copy of the lyrics for further reference as i don't tend to translate music when I'm listening to it.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I was just about to post a comment and ask if anybody would be willing to translate the song. I saw this episode a few months ago on youtube and I downloaded the song right away. I understood most of it, but I wanted to know exactly what he was saying so thank you sooooo much! The song is so beautiful & the words were perfect for Fernando & Lety. I agree with you decie girl about how it seems it was written for LFMB, especially the line about thinking of her as a game.

Esther

Tiziano is just my stage name, in real life I go by Chris.

Ok ok ok just kidding.

Ha ha! I wondered about that Chris. Actually he kind of looks like you, maybe you're cousins.

Wow, I can't believe how perfect that song was to the episode. Jaime Camil definitely made me feel Fernando's pain. Thanks for posting this Melinama!!!! Kim P.

My Grandfather mysteriously claims to know nothing more than that my great-grandfather came from Italy as a child around the turn of the 20th century. I also don't know how popular of a name Ferro is, I have come across a couple here and there but there aren't so many. So, anything is possible. I do have a famous cousin that I DO know, Andrew Stanton, the man responsible for Finding Nemo. Check out his writing credits - pretty impressive! His mom is my dad's sister. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004056/

Wow cool, and he has an Oscar! You're right, he has a very impressive resume, writing, voices, directing, producing. Now I have someone to cheer for when I watch the Academy Awards. My sis and I always have a huge party with a ton of food items that are plays on words from the movie titles, actors, directors, etc. (For example Babel Ganoush with Pita O'Toole bread. Yeah, we're sick, I know.) Anyway, it's always fun to have a friend of a friend or whatever to root for.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen or talked to him in a really long time, I grew up in IL, he in MA. His mom was at my wedding, there is no bad blood, but the physical distance kept us kids from getting too close. So, now that he's gone off and become a big deal, there isn't anyway to try and ride his coattails that wouldn't just be blatantly, uh, riding his coattails. Ah well if I ever get a really good idea I'll send it along through his mom and not ever expect an answer.

I own the CD and it's totally worth it. All the songs are awesome.

So odd, I had just bought a CD with one of his songs on it that day, and boom there he is. I had no idea he was going to be on LFMB.

Very interesting about your cousin and too bad you didn't get to know each other better, just because cousins should always know each other, whether famous or not.

Oh, and remember, this Caray Caray recapper was in the movie for which Will Smith was nominated for an Oscar as best actor which ended up going to Forest Whittaker. I am small, and my appearance is rapid, very, very, rapid, quite rapid indeed, but I'm on the screen nonetheless, and right next to Mr. Smith, so that was pretty fun. If you have the DVD and pause when he's on the escalator chasing the hippie chic, well there I am. I have no coat tails though. Couldn't even get in to see a preview, go figure. College kids in Maryland got to see the damn film free for Fri. movie night before the background artists! Something is wrong with that, but what are you going to do, at least I got paid... :)

Cool! When I watch the movie I'll slow down for your theatrical debut. Darn, wish I would have known for the Academy Awards so I could have 'casually' said "Go Will! By the way, did I tell you all that I know someone in the movie?"

I think I'll get Tiziano Ferro's CD upon the recommendation. Thanks for the tip.

So the question is, Sylvia how do we get an invite to what sounds like a fantastic party?

Melinama, thanks for the lyrics and translation. I was completely captivated by his voice and the lyrics make it even better. I have to get this CD.

Kris, I just got the Pursuit of Happyness from my local library. I'll make sure to find you in the film and didn't you say something about your kite making an appearance, as well?
