La Fea Más Bella #250 4/10/07 "There are elements of the ridiculous about you... but I like you very much, just as you are."

Who else agrees that it's time for the Acapulco entrada to go buh-bye? All this happiness, and then we have to watch Alpo in the opening credits. Blech.

Fernando and Celso say their good-byes. I'm agreeing with K here, Celso looks very sexy today. Before Fernando gets into his car, Lety comes sprinting out of the building. She cries out, "Don Fernando!" Fernando turns and approaches her. After weeks of coldness and "Sr. Fernando's", Mr. Mendiola cannot believe his ears. He asks Lety if she really called him "Don Fernando." She shakes her head, acknowledging that she did. Fernando leans in and...swallows Lety's face! The kiss improves as they go, as they remember what it was like before.

Just a quick note, I know you're all eager about the re-cap. A while back, when Lety and Fernando made love for the second time, I mentioned how I liked the fact that they used Besáme over the scene because it was a nice tribute. I told you guys I would let you know later why I said that. Well, remember the scene with Tiziano Ferro? In the original, Betty la Fea, the singer was Ricardo Montaner (I think that's his name) and the song that he sang to Betty per Armando's request was "Besáme."

Okay, back to the re-cap! Lety pulls away and once again calls him Don Fernando. Fernando's only response is "my Lety." (My heart melts every time...every time) He says that they should leave this place. She agrees. He leads her to his car and they drive away, but not before sharing one more kiss. Strangely, Celso has disappeared.

Inside Conceptos, Sara's putting forward her best effort at winning the bitch of the day contest. She accuses Irmita of causing Lety to run after Don Fernando. Sara notices that Lety ran after him like a crazy woman and has not returned. Irmita calmly replies that she hopes Lety and he left together, she thinks it would be best for the two of them. Juana agrees. She thinks that, finally, Lety will be happy. PM for once sounds like the most reasonable of them all. It moved her to see it, but it also scared her a little. She hopes that Fernando doesn't hurt Lety again. Irmita is sure this won't happen because she knows that Don Fernando is truly in love with Lety.

Saimon rushes into the Vortex with open arms and a smile on his face. He tells the cuartel that he has a story for them. He goes on for a moment about how incredible his news is; it's a scandal. In the background, Alicia looks at a folder and listens in to the conversation. Saimon announces that Lety left with Fernando. On top of that, they kissed! It was like a kiss seen in movies! Alicia buts in and says that it would be a horror film. She complains about the men of the company going around kissing frogs. All of a sudden, Sara decides to defend Lety. She orders Alicia not to meddle and to return to her work. Some traditional insults are shared between Alicia and the cuartel. Nothing new here, except she calls Sara an ostrich instead of a giraffe. Martha announces to Alicia that Lety is no longer resigning. Alicia wants to know when the cuartel found out that Lety wasn't leaving the company. Juana says it's been about three hours. Alicia thinks Marcia should know about this.

Outside of the D.F., Fernando and Lety rapidly drive away from the city. Fernando can't believe that Marcia came to Lety and said what she did. Fernando tells Lety that he loves her. She tells him that she never stopped loving him, not even for a moment. Lety wants to know where they're going. Fernando says they can go wherever she wants. His life is in her hands, just like it always has been. Lety asks for his cell phone to make a call. She left hers in the office. Fernando states at Lety with admiration.

Lety calls her home, and Julieta is the first to answer. Julieta asks Lety how she is. Lety nervously giggles and replies, "If only you knew, Mom." Fernando laughs. Lety tells her mom that she (Lety) left the office early and is not returning. She's with Fernando. At first, Julieta's worried. She wants to know what happened and why Lety is with him. Julieta also wants to know about Aldo. Lety says they can talk about all of this later. She just wanted to call that she's going to be late coming home. Lety says she doesn't know what time she'll return, since she and Fernando have a lot to chat about. Fernando leans in toward the phone and says, "Greetings, mother-in-law." Lety quietly shushes him. Julieta tells Lety that she's aware Lety is in love, but to be careful. Her mother doesn't want her to suffer nor does she want Aldo or Fernando to suffer. Lety assures Julieta that before she makes any decisions, Don Fernando and Lety are going to analyze everything. Neither of them want anyone to suffer. Julieta agrees to tell Erasmo. She also tells Lety that her only hope is for Lety to be happy. They tell each other, "I love you," and then hang up. Lety leans over to Fernando and kisses him. She leans her head on his shoulder, and they continue on there way.

At the Padilla house, Erasmo enters the room and asks Julieta why she was crying. Julieta wipes her eyes and says that she was mincing the onions. She excuses herself to the kitchen to wash her hands. Erasmo suspiciously watches her.

In the green room, Alicia announces that she has something to tell Marcia and it's horrible. Marcia says that nothing could be worse than losing Fernando. Nothing could be worse then going to Leticia and having that talk. Marcia tells Alicia that she told Lety that Fernando really loves her. Alicia sits; she grasps her chest and says that this information is going to give her a heart attack. Alicia asks Marcia when did she have the talk. Marcia says it's been about a half hour. Alicia wants to know why Marcia would do such a crazy thing. Marcia replies that she wanted to save the company. She wanted to make sure Lety didn't resign. Uh-oh. You did a whole lot more than that, Marcia Villaroel. Alicia announces to Marcia that everyone at Conceptos has known for three hours that Lety changed her mind about resigning. Three hours! Marcia's pissed. Lety didn't say anything to her. (Yah, because you kept interrupting her when she tried.) Alicia announces that Lety left with Fernando. Marcia wants to know where. Where do you think? Alicia replies.

Aldo's still hanging out at his house in Acapulco. He calls PM and asks to speak with Lety. PM doesn't know what to say. Aldo starts to lose patience. PM begins to tell him that Lety left, but Irmita grabs the phone and tells PM not to say anything to Aldo about Lety leaving with Fernando. Lety needs to tell Aldo. PM tells Aldo that Lety left, but she didn't say where. Aldo asks if PM gave Lety his message. She confirms. He tells PM to have Lety call his cell phone. PM says she will tell Lety he called when she sees Lety.

Tomas walks through the vortex and overhears PM saying that she could not tell Aldo that Lety left with Don Fernando. It would break Aldo's heart. Tomas turns on his heel and stares at PM. Tomas wants to know what do they mean Lety left with Fernando. Where did they go? Nobody needs to answer him. Tomas thinks this will really hurt Aldo. Irmita says this is why
they shouldn't say anything at all to Aldo. Tomas agrees.

Lety and Fernando sit on a wall at what I guess is a resort. Lety thinks it's a beautiful location. Fernando thinks it's beautiful that they're there together. She caresses his face. She says that she thinks she's dreaming. Fernando negates and says that this is all real. She can't know how many times he imagined this moment. Lety says that she had stopped dreaming about being with him. Fernando just wants her to say that she'll be with him. That they'll live together. That she'll accept him again. Lety says that first the need to reacquaint themselves, and she doesn't know if it will be easy. They need to discuss and get rid of everything that separated them. I love this line "Su piel y la mia tambien tienen que reencontrarse." (Your skin and mine also have to meet again.) She thinks that all of this is going to take time. Fernando thinks the opposite. He doesn't need time; he just needs her. She's in his skin; she's in his mind; she's in his heart, in his spirit. F-"Leticia, I need you with me already and for forever." They smile at each other.

Still in the green room, Marcia wants to know why Alicia didn't come to her immediately. Alicia says she came as soon as she heard. Marcia can't believe that she did the stupidest thing she's ever done in her life. She brought Fernando to Lety. Alicia says that none of this is her fault. It's Marcia's fault for not knowing what's going on in the company. Alicia wants to know the about the conversation between Marcia and Lety. Marcia can't believe that Alicia wants to gossip at this moment. Marcia throws Alicia out of the office. She cries, not believing what she just did.

Fernando and Lety walk around the resort. Fernando tells Lety that if she hadn't detained him he would have left that night for Rio de Janeiro. Lety can't believe that he would leave everything, even his family, behind. Fernando says yes, he planned to completely disappear for a pair of years...decades. L-"For my fault." F-"More like for your love." He tells her that he promised to leave her in peace, but if he stayed he wouldn't have been able.

Aldo hangs out around a fire in Acapulco. He drinks some wine and thinks about Lety and the morning they watched the sunrise together. He laughs when he thinks about how his life with Lety will be pure joy. They'll love each other forever, together with the ocean.

It's night now. Fernando and Lety continue to talk. Fernando says that he's not worried about anyone suffering. He's sure Marcia will be okay since she is the one who told Lety that he really loves her. Lety is sure that Marcia suffers. Fernando thinks they shouldn't worry about this now that they have another opportunity. All the suffering they experience while separated should not be in vain. She starts to protest, but he grasps her hand. He asks her if she recognizes his caresses, his skin. Lety says she's not only worried about Marcia's suffering. She also worries about Aldo Domensain. Fernando uses this opportunity to ask if Lety and Aldo...well...you know. Lety confirms that there was something. She and Aldo kissed. Fernando is impactado.

Marcia goes to the Mendiola house and speaks with Teresita. Marcia recounts what happened. Lety and Fernando left and nobody knows to where. Bozo uses tough love. She says that Fernando never belonged to Marcia. Marcia can't believe this. She says that Teresita always thought Marcia and Fernando where the ideal pair. Teresita admits her mistake. She saw something that wasn't real. Teresita says that Marcia needs to resign herself to acceptance. Marcia doesn't want to do this. She only spoke with Lety to save the company. Teresita replies that Marcia had to know that the most likely thing to happen would be a reconciliation. Marcia refuses to lose Fernando. She feels like she's going to die. Teresita is infuriated. Marcia should not say this. She should be proud that she saved the company. Marcia confirms she saved the company, but now she wants to know who will save her. The women hug.

Fernando's a little shocked by Lety's revelation. He asks if this means that Lety had "relations" with Aldo. It's Lety's turn to be impactada. She angrily replies that of course she did not! She and Aldo only kissed twice. The impactado ball volleys to Fernando. Besides, both of the kisses were in Acapulco, not in Mexico. Fernando says that it doesn't make him feel better, it sucks. Lety turns from him. Fernando tries to gain control of himself. Fernando asks if Lety feels
anything for Aldo. She turns away again. Lety tells Fernando that she loves Aldo, but it's not the same as the love she feels for Fernando. Lety tells the story about Aldo saving her from the ocean. If she's with Fernando now, it's thanks to Aldo. Fernando says the next time he sees Aldo he'll give him a thankful hug. Lety continues with the virtues of Aldo. He taught her to value herself.

Fernando is obviously uncomfortable with the conversation topic. He doesn't know anything about philosophy. He only knows that he loves Lety. Lety replies that she loves Fernando as well, but she needs him to know why she loves Aldo so much. She respects Aldo. Fernando understands. He'll try. Lety says that after everything that happened, she wanted to die. Aldo saved her. Fernando admits that he knows that if she was in Aldo's arms, it was Fernando's own fault. This hurt him. L-"Don Fernando, are you jealous?" F-"Lety, you know me. You know that I'm jealous, neurotic, and it's hard to believe, but I'm very jealous, very neurotic and crazy." Lety sweetly and sarcastically keeps saying "no", like she can't believe that Fernando is any of those things. She says that she wants him...just as he is. Fernando whips out his tag line. "Only God knows how much I love you." Lety wants to talk about the napkin. Fernando wants to do something else now that her skin recognized his. He's ready for some fea-lovin. Lety starts to protest again, but Fernando silences her with those oh-so-sexy kisses of his. Lety pulls away again, but this time she runs away from Fernando. He calls after her. Where's she going? What happened? All of this is a little strong for her. Fernando says it is a little strong for him as well, but it is. He touches her face and then pulls her toward him. They silently embrace.

Julieta and Erasmo talk at the dinner table. Julieta lies and says that Lety is at the office and she's going to be very late. Erasmo wants to know if Lety stayed at the office alone. Julieta lies again. She stayed with Tomas. The door bell rings. Geez, I wonder who it could be. Guess what? It's Tomas! Erasmo demands to know Lety's whereabouts. Tomas tells Erasmo that Lety left with Fernando Mandiola. Julieta stands behind Erasmo and gives Tomas signals. Tomas recants his statement and says that Lety's at the office. Erasmo wants to know why Tomas didn't stay with her. Erasmo turns to Julieta. She says that Tomas came for some flat cakes for he and Lety. Tomas confirms. Julieta rushes Erasmo to bed. Julieta sits at the table and scolds Tomas.

A now homeless Aldo sleeps on the beach. He dreams of the ocean and the day he realized he loved Lety. (Warning: the scary shorts are back!) He has another dream. He sees Lety in the ocean, with her arms open. He runs to hear, but she disappears before he can hug her. Aldo wakes from his dream and calls Lety "My Leticia."

Fernando says he can't find any. "Find any what?" Lety wants to know. (Is he planning on having his way with her in the bushes? This isn't Destilando you know, Fernando.) Really he just wants a place to leave a footprint of their love. He finds a cactus. He wants to write her name and his name on the cactus. With his finger he magically writes their names. She asks if he can write their names in the sky and on the moon. He replies that he can't write it on the moon because the space is too small. He agrees to write it in the sky. The moon is the point. She asks him to write it on her forehead. He writes, "Lety, I love you." She writes "I love you" on his head as well. They mush their foreheads together. Fernando thinks it's a good idea to smack the cactus. Guess what? It was a bad idea. Lety helps him pick out the spines. They
share another romantic moment.

Marcia enters the bedroom she shared with Fernando. She lays, alone, on the bed they shared for many years. Her only company is a pillow. She cries out Fernando's name.

Fernando's still with Lety. They're back on the wall. Lety wants to know how long they've been there. He says maybe a few minutes. He doesn't really know, because with Lety time doesn't exist. Lety says it's been longer than a few minutes. The sun has risen, and it was amazing to share it. Fernando agrees. His tone suddenly changes and he says that he feels something strange. He tries to explain himself, but neither Lety nor he (me either!) exactly understand his words. It's like it's the daybreak of their lives. Lety agrees. Fernando strokes her cheek. He pauses and looks at her like he's just seen something new. F-"We're going to get married. Do you want to marry me, Lety." Lety smiles and begins to cry. Lety says she can't believe what's happening. Fernando just wants an answer. Will she marry him? She asks if he's asking for real. She never thought anybody ask her something like this. F-"I'm not asking you Lety; I'm begging you, Lety." Lety doesn't answer but says that this is the second most happy day of her life. The first was the day of her last birthday. He encourages her to say yes. L-"In my life, this is what I desired the most. I'm alive only for this." They cry and kiss.

It's morning and Marcia's still crying. She's still alone. She's still crying. I actually feel bad for her.

Erasmo wants to know why Lety didn't wait for him. Julieta says that Lety was in a rush. Erasmo wants to know what time Lety got home last night. He wants to know what's going on at Conceptos. Julieta says she's sure that it's good news. Erasmo wants to know how Julieta is so sure. Aldo thinks there's something fishy. Julieta guilt trips Erasmo. Lety’s working hard, and Erasmo doubts her. Erasmo thinks Julieta has reason.

Outside of the Padilla house, Lety and Fernando sit in his car. She's still worried about Aldo. She needs to talk to him. Fernando asks how much time she wants to talk to Aldo. He thinks that a half hour should be sufficient, maybe thirty-two minutes. Then they can go and get married. Lety laughs at his jealousy. Lety reminds Fernando that they have to prepare their respective parents for the news. Fernando kisses Lety's hand and says that he doesn't want to lose her for any reason. He doesn't want anyone to separate them. Lety says they will get married as soon as possible. Fernando says nobody and nothing will separate them. He has Lety, now he's going to get something else back. He's going to get back the dignity and honor that lost, Conceptos. Together, they're going to pay the debt and recover the company. It's going to belong to the Mendiola-Padilla family. F-"Does this sound good Mrs. Leticia Padilla de Mendiola?" Lety says yes. They kiss again.

Aldo's still swimming. He finds a Miniature Ladyparts Seashell of Doom. He thinks this would be a good gift for Lety. He throws it in the air. Aldo walks into the office of the judge. Aldo tells the judge that he, Aldo wants to pay Conceptos' debt. (It's now our turn to be impactados!)

Vocab! Hay Gato Encerrado - Something's fishy.

Tomorrow: I'm guessing that Lety and Aldo didn't have that talk yet.

HolycowHolycowHolycowHOLYCOWWWWWWWW!!!!!! WHAT AN EPISODE!!!!!!!!!!! They threw us a MAJOR bone with this one!!!!! Still, I'm not naive enough to think we're on the road to HappyLand yet...We'll see what messes things up THIS time...

I have to admit, I've always been an Aldo fan, and if Lety were an actual woman, she'd have picked up her toys and left Conceptos with him a long time ago. However, tonight he crossed over into Imbecil territory. This business of selling everything he has to pay Conceptos' debt to win Lety's heart - after she has repeatedly told him of her love for Fernando - I don't know, kids; he could use some backbone lessons from Tomas. If I were Lety, I'd horse-whip him before anything else. Pressure MUCH? Still, it's making for great TV. Thanks as always for a great recap!

Wow, I can't believe how quickly you got this posted, and a fantastic recap, too. The scenes between Fernando and Lety in this episode were so romantic. I'm reduced to total mush. Fernando is the greatest thing in the history of television. I finally figured out what it is about him -- he treats her with such incredible respect. Sigh. When this show focuses on Fernando and Lety, I love it.

Yeah, since there's still about a month left, I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. I'm just happy that we finally got to see some loving interaction for the two. I think we were all starving for it!

Thanks for the terrific recap Amanda. WOW!!! I loved this episode, just worrying now that somethings going to come along and ruin it. The only thing that would have made this episode better would be more scenes of Lety and Fernando (perhaps a third night of fea-lovin' as you so nicely put it).

Fernando and Lety were just so cute together and I laughed at his ackwardness of trying to suggest they sleep together again. Just made me laugh. Then he hugged her and that made my heart melt more than the kissing (which also makes my heart melt...actually I'm surprised it hasn't leaked out of my body by now with all the melting it does during Fernando's scenes).

I feel sorry for Marcia, but wish they could have left it the way it was yesterday. I was a little ticked at her for whining that she didn't have to tell Lety that Fernando loved her. She'd done the right thing in telling her, don't negate it by being a whining harpie. Oh well, at least she's making some baby steps, although not without some pushing from Momma T. Which brings me to her, I was SHOCKED that there were actually some words of wisdom to come out of her mouth. Still can't believe it.

Aldo, Aldo, Aldo what were you thinking. I just can't believe he sold everything to "save" Lety from Conceptos. I suppose he'll try to make Lety feel guilty or she'll just feel it on her own about all of this. All I know is that he looked none too happy in the preview for tomorrow.

Loved your comment about him being homeless and having to sleep on the beach. I was scared to see the daisy dukes back on, ugh. I don't care what anyone says, it has to hurt wearing denim in the water---I thought I noticed him walking a little gingerly when he came out of the water.

Amanda: this episode occurred about Dec 11th or 12th...the show ran till 2/23 granted the last 2 wks were 1/2 hour so you gain a week, but there is two and a half months left.

I dunno, I kinda felt he was more into it than she was...being a huge fan of HannaBarBara, I couldn't help but feel an anvil drop everytime the word "Aldo" was mentioned...he just bought the Conceptos debt...Dude is in for the long haul. Wiley Don, I just saw you paint the side of a mountain with a picture of a train tunnel...Aldo is not going to run into the mountain...but I hear a train whistle.

Marcia, you are totally my hero...she is more adult than any and all of these other AssHats...I couldn't have done it, not for the woman who was sleeping with my so called fiance behind my back and smiling at me everyday...Nope couldn't have done it. Fer might have been using Lety to save the company, but Lety did it for herself...not that I wouldn't have done the same.

Thanks for the recap Amanda. This was a great episode and watching the besos was the best. I'm just sad we've got to go on this 2.5 month detour until the end. While I'm glad the show threw us this bone (I kept saying its a dream don't get invested, its a dream), it is going to be more painful for me to watch how this thing is going to blow up. Thankfully you recappers will keep me updated so I'll know when to start watching again.

Food for thought. What if Lety only did this to "save" conceptos. The famiy was upset that he was leaving. Marcia said what she could to get him to stay. Fernando looked more in love then lety. I felt that it may have been a little of a game for her. sure she loves him, but she is still bitter. I think maybe she made ammends prematurely for Conceptos. Don't forget, He made love to her to save conceptos. Maybe she is doing the same????

Wow--major major episode! Thanks for the quick recap. When I came home last night, my son told me the VCR messed up and we missed the first 20 min. At least I got to see the skywriting and sunrise scenes. The forehead writing was goofy love as only Fern and Lety can do. Once he proposed and she accepted, I'm thinking why don't they just finish off the show, instead of dragging it out with more misunderstandings, problems??
That line about making love in the bushes and "this isn't Destilando" was too funny. I need to see this episode again to take it all in.

Aw, what a sweet, silly episode! Finally!
You know, when Aldo jumped out of the waves with that stupid shell, I justed to dropkick him back into the surf from whence he came! (Sorry, Aldo fans!) I just KNOW he's gonna ruin everything! Arrgh!

Tani

Thanks so much Amanda!

Fern looks even better in the extreme close ups! That man is just way TOO gorgeous!!!!
Lety on the other hand could have used a little camera space. The zooming in on the open mouth and braces was a little scary!

Everything happened so fast I kept waiting to see if it was a dream. I guess not but what now?

I too can't believe Aldo felt he had to sell everything to help Conceptos and win Lety's love. Do the words obsessive and controlling mean anything????
What next? Will he throw her into the trunk of his car (did he sell that too??) and race off to Acapulco to hold her prisoner in a makeshift shack on the beach?
If so I suppose a few days of psycho-babble will erase any thoughts of real life from her mind.

Carrie L.

Carrie - I don't think Aldo owns a car!

I blubbered like a baby through the whole episode!

I am a little sad now that multiple people have pointed out that Lety could be playing with Fern, but I also realize that something has to go wrong in order for all this to drag out that much longer. :(

Still, I think the best thing to say to Aldo would be "I appreciate your generosity, but what this tells me is that you need help."

As for the shell - at least this one's not broken. But I still think it's a little childish to present someone with a "gift" of something you found on the ground. Or at least, it's childish to make a big deal out of it.

Waaaagh!!!! I can't believe that I missed these last two great episodes. I watch drivel every day for months and the two nights I can't watch is when everything great happens. Thanks to you recappers and commentators for letting me at least know what happened. Viva Fernando y Lety! Yes, it sounds like the dark seashell of doom is waiting to engulf Lety, Fernando and Conceptos once again.

Connie

Yaaaaaayyyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I LOVED this episode! Thanks for the quick recap!
I wasn't sure if I understood when Fernando asked Leti to marry him, until I looked it up in my dictionary. Does anyone know if this show will be offered on DVD, and if so, where, and how could you order it if you don't speak much Spanish? I'd be willing to shell out major bucks.
Ruth

Tani-haha!!thats hilarious!!!Now that someone mentioned it it would be a big twist in the story if Lety did that to Fern but do you really think she would do that i mean she seemed to happy on the previews of the next episode when she was telling her mom and i doubt she would lie to her mom like that.I do agree that something has to go wrong for the novela to drag on for another 2 months.

Beckster, I agree that fern was more into it then lety. I also mentioned that "maybe" she did this to get even and to save conceptos, due to this being sudden; however, I do believe in my heart that they were going to get back together at some point anyway. Just not now, while she is still feeling wounded. and yes to others. We have to stretch this thing out, so bad things will probably temporarily happen to keep it going. I am tired of the dragged out soap; owever, this came too quickly. If it was the end, I would feel that I am left hanging. Building to the intensity which ocampy has been doing is the way to go. This sudden move threw me for a loop. Too fast. Even if it took a few days, but not during the course of one hour. I need to see them intensely gazing in each others eyes longer than that. Also i mentioned yesterday, how come they don't have him mention alcupolco and then her remember she was standing over him when he was in the fight; like Destilano Amor when Gaviota mentioned the car accident and then he remembered the scene??

Amanda, what a great recap and funny too. Fea-lovin' hilarious.

If there is a sexier man on earth ... never mind, there just isn't.

Yeah,yeah...Wait a minute here with the bone throwing to Fernando thing..Did Lety say, "I accepto" to his proposal? I see her smiling and nodding her head, but never heard the words.Lety is so wishy washy at time, and this is probably no exception.

Aldo sells seashell by the seashore..There are so many enduring scenes of these characters, but Aldo and his wardrobe has to be the worst of the worst in the clothes department at Televisa. A new pair of swim trunks would be in order, por favor.

yesterday someone said 2 more months of FEA and today someone said only 1 month. I need to know!

I can't believe we have been watching this show for ages and NOT ONCE did Lety ever have an appointment with her orthodontist. I know we don't see ever aspect of the character's lives but really.....

This episode was on on DEC 14 in Mexico. The end was FEB 24 but we don't know how much will be edited out for the US version.
LAURA

ExportRed...Haa Haa the shorts, everytime I see the creepy shorts..I think of "Breaking Away" which takes me back to the 70's & the whole teen angst thing (actually teen movies sucked then...John Hughes brought the angst to teens in the 80's), but Aldo is kinda a retro guy...Seriously I would say dude get some cargos, but alas, it is not like Lety has any fashion sense either. I love the idea too, that Aldo was going to bring real mexican food to Mexico, damn it is just that the tourists don't eat at the same places I do...

Beckster, Breaking Away is one of my all-time favorite movies. You can't associate Alpo with any part of it!

Anyway, this was one of the great episodes. I loved it. I will watch it again. I have already watched parts twice. But as you all have said, something has got to happen to screw things up, as we still have two months to go.

I also have a logistics question: Where the quartel said they knew "for three hours" that Lety was not leaving the company, how did they know? I was still waiting for Lety to go back to the meeting after she talked with her father. Then her father met with Don Humbo. But no one ever made it official to the group, hence Ariel was trying to take over in yesterday's episode. Did I miss something?

Curses on my DVR for not taping this - I missed the whole thing.
My head is pounding just writing this. Maldito DVR. grrrr... :(
I'll look on Youtube.

Anyhow, reading the fabulous recap (thank you, Amanda)and everyone's comments made the episode real for me. My heart melted , I'm mush, he's too gorgeous, sweet, et al.

However, Lety's #@%&@!* talking about how she loves Maldo, (vomit, vomit) gives me a sense of foreboding. How could she have any doubts after everything Fer said to her? She's worried about Maldo? Uh, Fernando loves her more, better, and can't live without her. I'm losing sympathy for her.

Marcia's not as selfless as it seemed. She didn't talk to Lety for love of Fernando, to let him be "free"; she did it to save the business & have him come back. Green walls in her office suit her "green with envy" self perfectly.

I'm not working late tonight! Gotta be home for the show - can't trust the DVR.

One word for the whole episode - divino!

I didn't pick up on Lety holding back but then again Fern had me so hypnotized I could hardly take my eyes off him because I was so feeling his emotion. There were a couple of times when I was praying he wouldn't say something stupid like over react about Aldo which he really didn't or make too much of a deal about Conceptos which was a little iffy. I don't think Lety was doing it to get back at him because that would make her a truly vile heroine and that just doesn't cut it in telenovela land.

I too hve the horrible feeling that something bad is going to come next. Aldo pays off the debt - does that mean the whole 6 mil or just the first installment 300K? It is a dirty trick and Fern could easily jump to the conclusion that Lety and Aldo are trying to take over his family business which would legitimately piss him off. Not to say break his heart in a million pieces.

On the other hand someone like Marcia could tell her that the only reason Fern would consider marrying her is to save Conceptos and Lety would believe that lie since she believes that he was going to marry Marcia and string her along before devorcing her.

Lety has no faith or trust in Fern which makes her "love" suspect in my mind and I think her "love" for Aldo is nothing more than gratitude but she still doesn't know it. I have the awful feeling I'm going to hate the forthcoming weeks especially if i have to endure any more of Fern's suffering.

Great recap and great episode. If I'm smart I'll stop watching now while Aldo (who I like) is still sweetly oblivious and Fernando and Lety are together (those kisses... WHEW!!). But I won't, I'll keep watching as Lety is guilted into being with Aldo (since I like him, I'm going to stick to the idea that he's not doing it on purpose, he paid the debt because he loved her but she's going to make herself feel guilty about it). What a shame it has to drag out longer.

Fea-lovin! I almost choked with laughter on that one. You recappers should be writing your own shows!

Kim P.

Ooh, just read decie girls comments. Darn, good points. Now I really do have to keep watching! Oh well, Jaime Camil is what got me started, I guess he'll keep me going.

Kim P.

I wasn't taking any chances and taped in on my DVR and my VCR and will keep this episode FOREVER!

Sad isn't it that all of us have the foreboding that bad things are to come. Back in December I accidentally read a spoiler which addressed most of the minor characters but something led me to believe that things weren't going so great for Fern and Lety. Nothing specific just a gut feeling.

I thought that scene between Bozo and Marcia was weird to say the least. Since when did the red-wigged clown become such a loving mother to Fern? She was spot on when she told Marcia there was no chance for her with Fern and never had been. That little hug they exchanged looked really uncomfortable as they weren't even sitting really close and had to kind of lean over like those hideous hugs Lety give Aldo. No doubt Marcia will blame Lety for not telling her she was staying while Marcia vomited out the truth but she never gave her a chance to say anything. Marcia now needs to put on her big girl panties and deal with the fact that she lost something she never had.

Aldo's presumptioness is way creepy. Selling off his stuff to buy Lety out of Conceptos. He obviously is not letting her think or act for herself. He is basically telling her "there, there little girl, big strong man will take care of you. All you have to do is stare at me adoringly and go along with everything I say and we will be divinely happy at el mar. Too bad Lety is such a fool that she has let him think he is more important to her than he is and she is sure to continue doing it. She flat out doesn't deserve someone as caring and respectful of her as Fern. Too bad that in the weeks to come Fern will probably be the one to suffer and not miss bubble brain.

The Conceptos debt is now owed to Aldo, he does not own Conceptos, but he does own the debt...and being that there are no big projects in the works...Well good luck gettin rid of Aldo, he has just made himself a permanent fixture.

So Lety and Fern are happy - for one evening. Marcia is miserable. So for how long does one have to watch joy and misery :). I got the essence of it - turned on the mute but kept the closed captioning. Then I started to read my grammar book on the awful stem-changing Spanish verbs. When I glanced up at the TV nothing much had changed - still joy and misery - till this evening.

Incidentally I got my Dish fixed so can get good reception. I had a new roof installed and the TV Dish was out of alignment.

If only they had run a big Fin or last chapter notice on the screen last night I would have died happy but no we have to endure the ever popular novela trick of JUST ONE MORE AWFUL thing to rip the lovers apart. As soon as I realized it wasn't a massive dream sequence I could see it coming. Now we'll all be sitting around waiting for the bomb to explode. We have seen Fern grow but not Lety so I guess we have to watch her learn to trust and believe in herself WITHOUT Aldo's interference.

Maybe poor moping Marcia and Aldo can get together in the end and spend the rest of their lives consoling each other. I really don't care, I just wish they would go away sooner rather than later.

Up to this point LFMB has avoided the usual novela cliches so hopefully Marcia won't dip in the the cliche bag and pull out a vial of pills and try the old I'll kill myself and you'll come back to me guilt trip that occurs all too often in novelas.

In the car, Fernando tells Lety he'll take her wherever she wants to go.

Was anyone else screaming at the TV, "Take me to the Sheraton!"?

Marie from Mass

I have come to the conclusion that Aldo is one of those guys who has to be the hero all the time - I know there's a fancy name for it but I'm still in Fernie afterglow and can't remember what it's called. I hope he doesn't try to purchase the cape that matches the shorts for this Mighty Aldo stunt. Of course he would have to buy it with seashells since he has nothing left (not even his pride). Jeesh!!!!

So maybe Lety will go to Alpo out of gratitude? Do you think she will feel guilty over his "sacrifice" and decide she owes him her love???? Whew, I hope not. That will be hard to watch if that is what is planned.

I felt like Marcia had not really given up on Fern and will come up with some devious plan to get him back. I hate seeing the wedding dress intro and always fear it's not a dream sequence.

Lety, please remove the braces before any more close up mouth scenes!

I loved the teaser preview of Alpo walking in on Fern and Lety kissing.
What I didn't like is Lety looking so upset because he had seen them!

Carrie L.

Nina: I think you did miss something. Lety told the cuartel on Monday night that she was staying. They asked her if she was going to resign; she said she was going to, but changed her mind and was going to stay. I really, truly don't know why she didn't bother to inform any of the committee members of that. I know she didn't get a chance when Marcia came to her later, but there were still a few hours in between when she could have made the phone calls, asked PM to post a memo, or whatever.

Thank you, K, for the tlacoyo definition. There's no shortage of native speakers here in the L.A. area, but no one I asked seem to know.
Also, thank you Amanda for the wonderful recap. The cactus part had me laughing out loud!

Thanks, Julie. That confirms what I thought. They let that meeting drift off without a conclusion.

I feel so bad for Aldo. I don't think he's trying to own any part of Conceptos, he's trying to set Lety free. Lety has been leading him on whether intentionally or not. She never flat out said "I don't love you and never will. I will never go with you to Alcapulco." She keeps saying,"I'll try to love you. I want to forget Fernando. I can't leave for Alcapulco until I get Conceptos out of debt." She's not being very clear, so I don't blame Aldo for him impulsiveness. He's crazy for her and thinks if he can clear up the debt, then Lety will be free to go to Alcapulco with him and away from Fernando (who she said she wants to forget)and in Alcapulco she can try to fall in love with Aldo. Makes perfect sense to me.

Oh, and Lety NEVER said she accepted the marriage proposal. She skirted all around it with euphemisms "I'm so happy" "This is the 2nd best day of my life" etc. She NEVER said YES, I'll marry you. Bad Lety. She needs to really work on her communication skills and stop yanking people around with her vague statements.

And I agree with whoever said lose the braces! I can't stand seeing the braces and the greasy lipstick. She has to grossly contort those lips to get over the braces. It really is just too Fea. Well, one blessing is there isn't ever any food caught in the braces.

Barb

thanks for the fast recap, you tube in advance i'm sure helps - but is there voice recognition technology on your computer too???

ExportRed, I have the same question…did Lety actually say yes? This is not the time to be indirect.
Aldo sells seashells by the seashore…LOL! I was thinking the same thing during that scene.
I don’t think Lety is faking this whole thing. If so, she is really screwed up and deserves Alpo. Him selling everything is beyond crazy! It is just wrong and disturbing in so many ways. But we are talking about a guy who does not mind chafing!

Teresa

Thanks for the great re-cap. I am so happy that I stumbled on to this site. I am a Spanish major, but sometimes I miss some things. I was just thinking this morning that this show reminds me of "The wizard of oz" Aldo is the oz, who Lety goes to for courage,Fernando is learning that he needs his own brain to think for himself instead of Omar's, and Omar is so cold blooded that he needs to get a heart.

I don't think Omar is cold blooded at all. If he was he wouldn't have taken the fight with Fern so hard. He would have been off on one of his conquista runs and not be sitting in a bar by himself and ignoring the chicas. I think a lot of Omar is bluff and a shield to avoid being hurt. If this show has to drag on for weeks more so that Fern can be hurt by that nit wit yet again I hope they give us some story for Omar. I've missed his zaniness the last couple of days.

Telenovelaland in Mexico needs this "group" online to write the great Spanish novela...What a fabulous, articulate and genuinely funny flair for writing from those who gather here for the love of our shows...I'm in agreement,as noted by a fellow writer on "what" a novela could be written at the hands of all recappers & writers..I'm sure from life experiences alone..Thanks..

Well, if there is one thing I have learned from American soaps, it's that there is no such thing as a happy couple.

I am thrilled that Fern and Lety are making progress. It's kind of weird seeing them together after almost 5 months apart! But, I'm sure there are going to be a few more obstacles before the end. Hopefully her make-over will happen in the next couple week and with Caro's help.

Aldo is a fool for selling all his stuff on the fly. Lety and Aldo have not even kissed in DF. Although Lety is sending mixed signals, Aldo really should have thought this through. I guess I'll have to wait until tonight, but I would think if Aldo is "buying" the debt from Filmo Imagen, then Lety would need to sign off on it.

Loved the Mighty Aldo comment with his superhero shell cape. Reminds of a co-worker's neighbor who dressed in a superhero outfit and cape for sex games with his wife. Evidently he jumped off the dresser onto the bed and hit his head on the ceiling fan and was knocked out. His wife was tied up so I don't remember how it all happened, but the paramedics were called out and all the neighbors gathered to watch. Surely our Mighty Aldo won't do anything so foolish.

Anonymous, I love your Wizard of Oz analogy -- very clever.

The not saying "yes" by Lety is a subtle hint,as we all should know not to be looking for our invites in the mail to Fern & Lety's wedding. Ha..Aldo (I feel) will be riding in to the rescue with gift in hand (mainly that 2 million dollar bail out and another seashell),then Lety will be doing the horizontal Mambo,or the back bend over the desk again. She cannot make a decision under any cirumstances--business or otherwise, and this is no exception. Remember back as to what Fernand's spiritual advisor told him--pain and suffering Fernando you will have to endure. Well, that's not exactly what he said, but similar.

Ok the whole debt thing is driving me nuts. I'm a writer, trained as an actress and when I worked in corporate and was sent to a finance class I might as well have been listening to gibberish. As I remember Conceptos owes the debt to FI. They have to pay the installment or all of Conceptos' assets belong to FI and Lety. If Aldo pays off the debt as corporate raiders do then he in effect owns Conceptos. If that is true then regardless of his motives he has stolen the Mendiola business and Fern will be forced to believe that is what Lety and Aldo planned all along. Then again I could be nuts since finance is not my game. Any economists on this blog that can set us straight.

Fern's PG did tell him pain and suffering and there has been plenty of that for Fern. He also told Lety she would have to fight and there has been precious little if any of that from Miss Wuss. I'm tired of seeing Fern suffer and he does do it so beautifully but i think Lety need to have a hard wake up call and do some suffering herself. She has by no means suffered as much as Fern and she still refuses to admit her part in everything that went wrong. I've got no respect for her at all.

a Question about La Fea vs. Betty La Fea.

How does the story line of La Fea differ from Betty La Fea? Were the story lines parallel until Rosy decided to extend La Fea? At what point in story did La Fea take on a different direction from Betty la Fea?

I would have sworn that Lety accepted the proposal but then again it might have been me screaming si, si, si. In any event she definitely later on said we are going to get married as soon as possible so that has to serve as an acceptance of some sort. The things that bugs me is that she seems so concerned about hurting marcia and Aldo and yet remains clueless or uncaring about having hurt Fern so much. Fern obviously regrets hurting Marcia but isn't obsessing it over it. I just dread the idea that he is going to suffer more. Rosy must be a real sadist to inflict this much pain on everyone including all of us.

Just love your recaps. I watch the program everyday. But I always come
here to read the recaps. They are
really enjoyable. Thanks for all the good work.

Rosa

No, Lety's done little suffering..She went to rehab(sabatical, mend her broken heart, get in touch with herself, separate from Fernando) in Acapulco with Carolina and the beauty pageant, after she read the "fea" letter..There she met Elvis" re-incarnated-ALDO..It took about a day in novela world and Lety was making goo-goo eyes with Aldo,to the point of doing little work for Carolina and whining all the time.

Only way Lety is going to get it, is for Fernando to hop a plane to NYC to meet up again with hoochie mama,Carla.

Fernando has done all the suffering, and Lety is still dazed and confused, after the show we love has gone on now for a year.

Remember,if you've been watching the previews on Univision, good news is just around the corner as we move along to the ending..

I just took yet another look at the previews for tonight and as someone said really don't like the look Lety gets on her face when Aldo bursts into the office when Fern is kissing her. She looks horribly guilty. I guess she should since she's been leading Aldo on and now is time for her to fish or cut bait as the old saying goes. Be honest and up front and tell him YET AGAIN that sorry you don't love him, will never love him and will always love Fern. But I'm willing to bet my house she does no such thing and let's him guilt trip her into treating Fern like pond scum again. Fern looks a little annoyed and I'd love it if he'd just smile at Aldo wish him a nice day and leave the office and not listen at the door.

LOL ! I thought Lety said yes too(marrying D F)...she did mention talking to the parents anyways if only Fernando had sexed Lety made her pregnant this would have sealed the marriage proposal. So now we have to watch Lety feel guilty, then run back to Aldo out of gratitude...WTF. I hate that Fernando will be hurt coz of the all too generous folks in this novela......enough with seashells already whats he trying to imply he wants Lety's ladyparts.

If people had a family member (e.g. mom-in-law!) who is expert at using her money to keep people "obligated, connected, etc, they would know how very effective it can be. I don't believe that Aldo is trying to buy CONCEPTOS, but consciously or subconsciously, he is using his money along with his love, to get Lety. Look how many presents he has bought her already- constantly. It is a very manipulative way to claim people as your own and even if the person is not actually "bought," they still feel emotionally obligated and continually guilty. It is hard to rise above this, especially when the person is being nice. This method is sometimes used by people who really don't have confidence to win people over naturally, if you will, OR it is used very deliberately to keep someone in your grasp----whatever, it has worked in the sense that Lety has never really loved ALDO and no matter what happens, she has been unable to wrangle herself from his grasp. Let's be serious here- He claims he wants her to feel good about herself--independent and self-sufficient. How can that happen with someone like ALDO connected to her hip?

Anon 5:18 very perceptive. Lety's "look" when Aldo walks in for tonight says it all... The previews(for future episodes) I was speaking of are from Univision showing the new transformation of Lety. Can it be?

I thought that Aldo acted crazy when he ran out of the water and said he loved Lety. Since my tooth was bothering me, I wasn't following the story as closely. When Aldo ran out of the water, it looked like either something was chasing him or he had stepped onto a jelly fish. Then he saw Lety(although in a dream) standing in the water as an angel. Talk about "crossing over into imbecil territory," Anonymous 10:43, you got that right. Aldo doesn't need Lety, he needs a therapist with a major treatment plan.

I didn't think that Lety's love for Fernando was as intense as his love for her. If she truly loved him, Aldo's name would never have come up in their conversation. Also she didn't show much emotion after his marriage proposal and her acceptance was vague. I guess it is a clue that things are about to get worse for Lety and Fernando.

I've always felt that Fern's love for Lety was much greater than hers for him. He is an experienced man who has been around and while she isn't completely innocent she has been grossly overprotected. His suffering has been much greater than hers because his feelings are greater. Back in the day at the spa he was the one that talked about how immense their love was and last night when she turned away from him because all the emotion scared her she showed that she still hasn't grown up enough to accept and
return really intense love. At this point she is cheating Fern emotionally. Then again she may be afraid of being hurt again, something Fern is not.

I think it is more of a trust issue than love. Fern is ready to jump in the deep end and lety is still testing the water in the baby pool. She hasn't been in a real relationship and looks like they'll be tested a few more times before the end.

To Exportred - I thought lety finally said ok, because he said "gracious". The name for a person that needs to be the hero, in my book, means narcissitic, at least where Aldo is concerned. He fits the narcissitic, including his temper when things don't go his way (ie. when they were on that overnight trip and he got mad at her). Needing the cuartel to bask in his guaponess that he thinks he has. Overconfidence.

Even tho Aldo has showered Lety with presents, Lety has not had the backbone to tell him to stop. She didn't have to accept those gifts. But by not stopping it she's complicit in perpetuating Aldo's hope that she *might* try to fall in love with him so he's continuing his quest to win her. I don't see him as weak or trying to guilt trip her. He's been given a slight green light by Lety. Albeit, he's gone a little overboard, but he's a guy crazy in love. What guapo in this story hasn't done a foolish foolish thing?

I guess tonight will show whether or not he'll try to guilt trip her or tell her to follow her heart to Fernando.

I finally saw this episode on YouTube and all I can say is WOW!! No wonder you guys are all excited. They packed so much in this one episode. LOVED IT!! Fernando is SOOOO Adorable.

anon 03:48:00 PM EDT
From here on the story is completely different that BLF..with a few (very few exceptions).

Anon Wed Apr 11, 02:20:00 PM EDT, I agree Omar can be cold, but he is a guy, guys do not pour their hearts out like this..contary to
TeleNovela land...Besides that I have annoyed friends with worship of some guy and friends have driven my crazy with the same til you have a giant STFU moment, cause unless you are the one in the relationship, it does appear pathetic. Actually Fernando and his obsession is a bit much.

For those who wondered what the name is for a person who always wants to be the hero...Well I usually just call them AssHat..but hey that is a general comment not addressed at any specific AssHats...jest sayin.

Aldo might mess everything up but i also have thought of Marcia as another possibility.Yes she did tell Lety of Fern true feelings but now she is regretting it and she told Ronald Mcdonald(i give credit to whoever said this..Hilarious!!)that she refuses to lose him she isn't accepting she lost him so i think she will do anything she can to seperate them

I had decided I was not going to watch LFMB, but I'm glad I watched yesterday. I loved the way Fernando asked Lety Do you like this nopal (pointing to the cactus) or this nopal (pointing to himself). "Nopal" (when referring to a person) is used when you want to call somebody "baboso" idiot, stupid etc. Also is used when you are referring to somebody of dark color skin or with very marked Mexican facial characteristics… anyway I loved this episode, and thank you for the recap. Your hard work is appreciated.
Maricruz

Amanda, what a wonderful recap and how nice for you that you actually got major action to recap! WHEW!

I have to say, the cuartel makes me so tired I need a nap every time they come on. But Fernando and Lety getting reacquainted....(shiver)! Thanks again, Amanda.

Jeanne

Oi I'm so confused - last time ald got together w/his father - didn't ald's father, yet again, ask his son, the chef, to consider coming in with him into his (the father's) construction business?

now this time ald is hugging his dad -- with nearly nothing being said -- how could all of this have been said by his father?

"Fausto le dice a Aldo que vendió su empresa y le depositó el dinero que le corresponde en su cuenta."

"Fausto le dice a Aldo que lamenta haber confundido sus prioridades y no haber estado a su lado cuando lo necesitó."

...or is it really, actually true that univision edits televisa's output?
[is there anywhere we can take a curiousQuestion besides just posting raw into here?]

/mab

[Last week some mentioned univison's teaser commercials --
I saw no such ads in my free broadcast from local univision affiliate until THIS week --
NOW I see what they were talking about]
