La Fea Más Bella #278 5/18/07 Stuff happens, people talk, etc.

That's #276 by Univision's count; !!!!278!!!! hours of cuartel craziness.

Alicia and Tomas are back from their honeymoon. Alicia is wearing a Spring-friendly pink dress with straw hat (remember, it's like January now), while Tomas is wearing blue sunglasses under his new eyeglasses. Alicia announces to the cuartel: "Before you make a fatal error, keep in mind that I'm married to the VP of Finance." She adds that they now must respect and admire her.

This provokes Sara to begin spilling the beans on Alicia's little scheme, but she is shushed by the rest of the cuartel (I guess they don't want to have to explain how they came by that information). Lola asks the newlyweds to tell them about Acapulco. Suspicious, Tomas angrily defends his wife, and Aldo shows up just in time to interrupt any further conversational developments. That's okay, because Tomas wants to talk to him anyway. The two men take off. Alicia tells the cuartel she does so have friends, and goes to look for Marcia. When the cuartel is alone in the Vortex, Sara vents a bit. Irma advises her to cool it.

Meanwhile, Luigi, Marcia, Omar, and Fern and talking about Aurora. Marcia hasn't been able to get in touch with her. I think Marcia says her phone's out of service, after she's left 20 messages. Anyway, they can't reach her. Fern points out that Caro is friendly with Aurora, and ought to be able to find her. Marcia goes to call Caro. The guys goof off, Fern says if he can't do something he's going to kill someone, and Omar begs for mercy, saying he can't die without having Aurora's love. Luigi tells them not to loaf - they've got to prepare to shoot a new pilot with Aurora. Omar says they're already working on (or done with) the second and third episodes. He sends them out of his office, and stares lovingly at a photo of Aurora, moaning "my muse, my muse."

Aldo and Tomas talk about the honeymoon. Tomas explains to Aldo, I had her there in my bed, next to me, and... no action at all! He explains that it's an awful sacrifice to make for the sake of Alicia's desire for motherhood. Aldo points out that if she's so eager to be a mother, it doesn't make much sense for her to refuse sex with Tomas. Tomas puzzles over this for a bit. One thing he does know is that when those fertile days arrive, he's not even going to leave the house, he's going to be so passionate, so ardent, so... Aldo interrupts him. (THANK YOU ALDO!) Tomas thanks Aldo and says he's like a friend, brother, brother-in-law, savior of marriages.

Alicia and Marcia talk about the honeymoon. Marcia seems newly aghast when Alicia admits to marrying only to improve her standard of living. I'm not sure why Marcia is reacting as if she's hearing this for the first time. She disapprovingly rehashes Alicia's "no sex except during my fertile days" scam. Alicia asks herself what she's going to do when those days finally arrive.

Lety likes Fernando's next episode script. She says next thing, he'll want to go to Hollywood, but Fern denies having any such interests. He wants to be around her... and by that, he hastily adds, he means being around the thing Lety represents, the company... He describes the trouble they've had in finding Aurora. He complains about all her bad qualities, then slyly admits that she's kind of hot. Lety is impactada. He says that he's trying to get on with his life. Lety disapproves of his interest in Aurora and tries to discourage him. (I just noticed the candy-cane stripes on Fern's tie. Yummy!)

Fern retires to his batcave. Lety calls him out. He dutifully reappears at her side. She says "never mind" and sends him back. When he's gone, she tells herself, please no don't let Fern like Aurora, she'd just die.

Tomas (still wearing those blue shades with his regular glasses) in his office drools over the wedding photo and complains that while he's as hot as the Sahara desert, Alicia is as icy as the North Pole. Lety comes in and welcomes him back, jumping up and down like a human bobblehead. She updates him on the Aurora situation (no new information for us). Aurora will have to come in this afternoon. Lety asks Tomas to keep Aldo busy so that he won't run into Aurora and get a good look at her. He agrees, and they giggle.

Out in the Vortex, the cuartel asks Alicia where she and Tomas will share their nights of love. She says she doesn't know yet, but she's sure it'll be awesome. Just then, Tomas accosts Aldo passing through the Vortex and persuades him to go out for coffee. Sara teases Alicia that she'll have to continue chatting with them about her new home. Alicia runs to the elevator in terror. A moment later, Fern comes out of Lety's office, looking for Aldo. They tell him he's gone off with Tomas, but he knows Lety's gone too, so he makes loud "thinking in progress" noises and goes back to his little room.

At Carolina's house, Caro is impressed as she watches Lety apply Aurora makeup. She jokes that afterwards, Lety should make her up too. She confesses to Lety that she is worried about someone getting hurt. Lety mentions Aldo, then Fernando. Knowing who Caro has in mind, Lety playfully mentions Tomas. No, of course, Caro is referring to Omar. Lety chokes herself in mock disgust. Caro says he's learned his lesson already. Lety teases, "you're in love with Omar!" They joke around about Lety's vengefulness and discuss more practical matters: Lety whispers that Tomas is keeping Aldo away from Aurora for the day. Maybe Caro should call and ask for Aldo, just to make sure he's gone. "Why are we whispering?" asks Carolina. "We're hiding!" Lety answers. Carolina calls Fernando to confirm. Indeed, Aldo's not around.

Aldo and Tomas are waiting for a cab outside, when Alicia catches up. She tells Tomas she wants to see their new mansion right now. "Don't tell me this is one of your fertile days??" Tomas asks. She protests that that's private, and anyway, no she is not fertile today. Tomas asks if she can't please be more discreet! She repeats that she just wants to see their big new palace. Tomas says no, no, he has to go get coffee with Aldo. Since it was never Aldo's idea to get coffee in the first place, he excuses himself so he can get back to work. Alicia thanks him for being so understanding. Tomas thought-bubbles that Lety's going to kill him! A cab comes up and Alicia says "Come on, little dog-ear!"

In the Vortex, the cuartel laugh at the notion of Tomas buying a palace for his queen. Martha suggests some other things he could have bought for her instead - something sensible, like a meal or a lighter for the stove.

In the cab, Alicia and Tomy approach their new home. Alicia tries to peek through Tomy's fingers. She hears kids and is curious. Tomas takes his hand away. Ta-da! It's an apartment complex. A very modest one. It looks well-kept and kid-friendly, with adults and kids playing ball together in a big yard, but it's clearly not what Alicia was expecting. They'll be in building 7-D. Not too high, not too low, but right in the middle, and all hers. She'll be able to do her laundry on the roof. "This is our house?" Alicia mutters incredulously. "No, it's our PALACE!" Tomas exclaims joyfully.

The ball flies into Alicia's arms. She looks like she's going to cry. "If I have to live around here, we're getting divorced!" She throws the ball hard at Tomas and marches back to the cab. Tomas throws it over his shoulder to the dad.

Carolina and Aurora arrive at Conceptos. Caro hurries ahead to ask the cuartel if Aldo is around. They say no, he went out. (I guess they didn't seem him come back.) They say he was with Tomas and they were talking about the honeymoon. ("You know how gossipy men can be," Lola adds.) Sara eagerly offers to take a message so she can deliver it to him when he comes back. Carolina gives Aurora the all-clear, and then Aurora comes off the elevator alone, pretending to have wandered in by herself. (So is the front desk now completely unsupervised? Did Jazmin simply settle into her job in a competent and satisfactory manner, or did she get fired without us getting to enjoy the spectacle?)

Aurora snottily asks the cuartel where Luigi's studio is, and Caro pretends to be surprised to see her. (Aurora's dress is diagonally striped in almost exactly the color I wanted to see on her... but I wanted a solid. Ah well - at this rate there will be plenty more dresses!) Aldo approaches, and Aurora tries to walk away with her nose in the air. Aldo insists on introducing himself. He says he can tell that she's deeper than she appears. She's sensitive, spiritual, intelligent, etc. (It really does sound less stupid when he's the one saying it.) During all of this, Aurora keeps turning back to Caro to make all kinds of Lety faces. Then she turns back to Aldo with her haughty, vacant stare. It's hi-larious.

Aldo excuses himself and goes into Lety's office. Aurora is reassured that he didn't recognize her. Whispering, Aurora and Caro congratulate one another on their deception. Then Aldo comes back into the Vortex, gives Aurora a very amused (knowing?) look, and goes back to his own office.

Meanwhile, in the batcave, Fernando is recalling his words to Lety about restarting his life and liking Aurora. Marcia interrupts, and he sadly admits that he lied to Lety. Marcia, who is really getting on my good side these days, says "I hoped you had learned your lesson by now." She says she wants to be supportive, and wants to hear more, but Fern is reticent. He can't discuss all this Lety stuff with her. She scoffs, and says that she's like his sister now. "I know you're still aching for Lety," she prompts. Fern says of course he is. Marcia teases him and asks him what was the lie. Fern says he told Lety that he'd leave her alone for the sake of her relationship with Aldo, but it's been hard work. He's always on the brink of telling her that he loves her, so instead, he told her that maybe he might like Aurora.

Marcia is skeptical, and Fernando says no, of course not really, no one likes Aurora. She's an insufferable fake. Only a mentally defective person like Omar could love her. He smacks Marcia playfully on the arm, then quickly apologizes, saying that he felt like he was talking to a male friend. To make up the difference, they squeal like girlfriends. He says he's hoping to make Lety think that he's forgotten about her and moved on, so that she can feel good about being with Aldo.

Right now, I need to get up, fix myself a cup of internationally flavored instant coffee, and savor the irony of this moment. We can call it "Fern's Campaign of Horror, pt. II."

Luigi calls to tell them Aurora's here. Fernando gets up to notify Lety, and is surprised to see that she's still gone. Marcia teasingly notes that he really is in love with Lety, and not Aurora.

Aurora and Carolina are waiting with Luigi. L'Auroraty is thought-bubbling about Fern telling her that he might like Aurora. Fern, Omar, and Marcia arrive and the men flock around Aurora, a little too close for her liking. "Luigi," Aurora warns sharply, and Luigi commands them to give her some space. Aurora demands a formal meeting to discuss the role and the contract. Marcia beams as Fern struggles to control his temper.

Out in the Vortex, Alicia phones her Papi in front of the cuartel and loudly tells him that Tomas got her a mansion like a princess such as herself deserves. Passing through, Fern touches Aurora by mistake, and she protests. He says all kinds of suck-uppy things about how he's so glad she's working with them at Conceptos, she's so special, she smells special, etc. Omar witnesses this and is displeased. He whisks Aurora away, and for once she doesn't seem to mind.

Fernando makes it a point to tell the cuartel how hot he thinks she is. Sara asks if that means he's not in love with Lety any more. He's all, "oh, no, don't let Lety find out about this. What? Me flirting with Aurora? Yeah, no, definitely make sure you don't tell her anything, I'm serious." PM promises they won't tell. Fern says he knows he can count on their discretion. They all zip their lips (if only it were that easy) and he leaves.

Disappointed, Martha says she thought he had changed and was really in love with Lety. PM says a guapo like him never changes. The cuartel engages in some dull-witted debate on this weighty issue.

The execs reconvene with Aurora, this time in the boardroom. Fern explains his comedy show to Aurora. It's a once-a-week show. Aurora says she doesn't like to work with amateurs. Marcia says they were surprised to discover that Fern is not only a great writer, but a great actor. Caro and Luigi make supportive remarks too. Luigi adds that their sponsor loves it, and specifically asked for Aurora. Aurora disdainfully agrees to review a script to make sure her character really is the female lead. Omar says something about a contract. Bored, Aurora asks "Señor Mandolina" how much he plans to pay her. He suddenly finds himself unable to speak.

Tomas meets with Aldo in Aldo's office. Laughing, Aldo tells Tomas, "now that I've met Aurora, I think she'd be great for Fernando." Tomas is not listening. He says that Alicia threatened him with divorce. She said the place wasn't decent to live in, and she won't spend the night with him. He can't stand to be away from her for even a minute. Aldo suggests renting a property from the guy who owns the place where Aldo's staying. He's got places that are smaller and cheaper. He writes down some info for a property he thinks Tomas will be able to afford. Tomas thinks it's quite pricey, but is grateful that at least he'll get to sleep with his chica. He thanks Aldo and says he's like a friend, brother, brother-in-law, savior of marriages. (Yes, I know he said that earlier too.)

After Tomas leaves, Aldo calls his old pal Gerardo from the restaurant that Aldo built but never got to own. He tells G. that he got back some of his money, and wants to know if there's some way he can build a new restaurant. No? But what's this - maybe he can actually buy his original restaurant back?

Now Aurora is reviewing the contract. Fern is hovering over her shoulder ("don't touch me!" she scolds him again), trying to get her to sign the contract, but she's not finished reading every last word yet, plus she's even testier than before. She says she needs to show it to her agent and get his opinion. She gets up to leave. Fern says no, you've got to meet our president, Lety! Aurora scoffs. "Again, the concern over that woman? Look, Señor Mongolia, whatever, if she wants to meet me, she can come to these meetings. I won't consider waiting even a second for her." And she leaves in a huff!

Omar gets up to follow. Caro tries to delay his exit, but she's not fast enough. Marcia wonders aloud where Lety is. Fernando smugly points out that he never missed important stuff when he was president. (Yeah, except for that gigantic accounting error that started this entire mess all those many months ago. But let's not dwell on the past.)

Omar follows Aurora into the Vortex and asks her out. She just stares at him as the elevator doors closes in his face. Alicia laughs at Omar and taunts him. (She has her clown kit in one hand, and the cell phone is nestled in its usual place.) PM opens her big mouth about Fern flirting with Aurora. (Dammit, PM! You were supposed to tell Lety, not Omar!) PM says she likes Aurora better with Fern. Laughing, Alicia agrees.

I guess marriage really has mellowed Alicia. I think this is the first time she and PM have ever agreed on anything.

Omar stalks off to confront Fern, who's mumbling in his closet. "I told you 1000 times I'm dying for this woman! The only woman!" (Caro is standing in Lety's office and hearing every word.) "You know perfectly well that for the first time, I'm in love." (Lety arrives and listens with Caro.) Omar accuses Fern of flirting. They talk about girls they knew in grade school. "Ever since sixth grade, you sicky, you've been hung up on girls in miniskirts?" Fern asks. "Third grade," Omar corrects him.

Lety and Caro take off for the boardroom to cool off. Lety says that Aurora is complicating everyone's lives. She asks if it bothers Carolina to see Omar in love with Aurora, and now Fern in love with her too. Well, DUH, Lety! Lety hears Fern calling for her. Lety groans and gives Caro a hug. She leaves Caro alone in the boardroom to sulk.

Lety finds Fern sitting in the president's chair. He says he'll get up in just a second. He wants to know where she's been all afternoon. She says she left, and now she's back - ta-da! He says Aurora was there, and has Lety spoken with the cuartel yet? Because they're very gossipy and they saw him with Aurora.

Lety tells him to switch seats. She tells him that Aurora's no good for him. She doesn't want him to get hurt.

She tells him to switch seats again, so now Fern is back in the president's chair. She tells him she's going to go see Aldo, so if the phone rings, please answer it. She leaves.

"She's soooo jealous!" Fern squeals, clapping his hands.

Omar finds Carolina in the boardroom. Now they are each sulking in their own little world, but in the same room. Caro tells him to forget about Aurora. She says she doesn't want him to suffer. Omar says he appreciates her concern, but he's already a lost cause. He wanders out of the boardroom, but acknowledges her again with a grateful look. Caro prays that she won't have to suffer for Omar.

Lety gets to Aldo's office, where Aldo is telling Stalker Chick "You didn't tell me you were coming, and I've got a busy day, so why don't we meet later." Stalker Chick whines that she's been working on something, and she needs his opinion. He tells her to leave it with him, and he'll mail his comments to her! Aldo sees Lety and tells her they're just finishing up. SC boldly reaches across the desk to give Aldo a goodbye kiss on his face. She gives Lety's arm a friendly pat and leaves.

Lety prances clunkily around Aldo's desk and coughs, pretending the sight of them together has made her sick. He backs her against a narrow table (the one with the boat) and teasingly complains about the lack of privacy for kisses and carresses. Giggling, Lety ducks away from an attempted kiss. He then turns around and backs her against his desk. She says they should go out for a walk and talk about their Feelings. She says she depends on him, she cares for him, she concerns himself with his well-being. He feels the same way. He says he's a better person because he's with her. She says she's learned to see the world the way he does, and he says he sees life as if through her eyes.

"Leticia, I can't do this any more. Please marry me!"

Cue the balloons.

Monday
Julieta faints; Lety gets blinged.

As of Monday, we'll be in "últimos capítulos," which is a little bit closer to the end than mere "últimas semanas." I think it means we now have four weeks left. (The number of "last weeks" and "last episodes" seems to vary from one novela to another, I think, so I'm not sure.)

Am I ready for this? I don't know!!

Comments:
Oh no... 4 weeks... it can't be! I thought I would have more time than this. I really don't want the show to end & I don't know what I'm going to do when its over. There really is no other show quite like it and I'm going to miss you gals and miss reading your comments!

Esther

I'm the opposite. I thought we only had about 2 weeks left! Yay! Four weeks is a lot more! I don't want the show to end either, but I know these last weeks are going to have a lot of great episodes!

Julie - Thanks for staying up half the night to give us Friday's recap! I was really sad to hear them say "últimos capítulos" thinking the end was very near. Now I'm happy to hear that we might have 4 more weeks. (Although I never would have started watching this a year ago if I had known it would last this long!)
Ann

Thanks Julie! Pretty darn good rough draft! I don't know if you need to do more, I thought it was excellent!

My only hope is that the show will go immediately into reruns and I can see the first few weeks that I missed.
As others have said, I too will miss it terribly!!!!!!!!!

I love the snotty Aurora parts. It's amazing to me that even close up Aldo and Fern just don't have a clue.

Poor Fern, he will be crushed by the announcement. It has been so nice to see him happy and acting silly.

Carrie L.

Dear Julie, Your "rough draft" was fine!...we should all do so well. I too found Tomas' remark about the laundry confusing...had to look up the word "azotea" flat roof, terrace....and then it made sense. He was telling her she'd have the azotea to hang out her laundry. Not in Alicia's plans I'm sure!
Thanks as always for your wit and skill.

Judy B.

Yike, Alicia doing laundry on the roof and hanging her stuff - not likely. We had to do that when I lived in Mexico. At first I thought it was king of fun scrubbing stuff but it got old REAL fast.

Please no more heart to hearts on the Moras honeymoon, Those conversations were cringe inducing.

Now Lety is jealous of herself? Too strange but not smart on Fern's part if he wants to convince her that he loves only her and is sacrificing himself for her happiness.

Thanks, Julie. I would agree that you don’t need to do anything further with this recap.
I loved Fern’s tie, too. And Aurora’s dress and Marcia’s dress. Even Aldo was dressed alright. 4 more weeks, that is hard to believe. I will miss this show and the recaps and everyone’s comments. But it really is time for them to wrap it up and bring on the happy
(we hope) ending. I actually think I would need a little break before I watch from the beginning. Does anyone know if they are going to rerun it right away at the same timeslot or is a new novella coming on? BTW, thanks for the link to the Angelica cameo on Ugly Betty. It was ok. I am glad I don’t have to bother watching the episode on line, because that is all I wanted to see. Have a good w/e, all!

Teresa

Lol i dnt like the bling from DarthV it going to be more ASSHATS momemts for my Fernando.

If she says yes she doent deserve fernando. He had asked her to marry him and she had said yes..... but coz DarthV has sold everything she has to hurt Fernando......#%%#@!WTF...$%^#^%

Thanks - actually I didn't have a lot left to go back and check after I posted this, so maybe I won't need to update it. I was dealing with some distractions last night (good ones, not bad ones), which slowed me down, but I knew I got most of it. That's good, because it's looking like I'll have less time this weekend than I thought.

Thanks for clearing up that laundry thing - maybe it's a kind of balcony? That was one of the things I was going to look up later. :)

Take my "four weeks" thing with a grain of salt. That was more of an educated guess than a statement of fact. If someone could confirm it, I'd be thrilled. If indeed it's only TWO weeks, then I'm kind of annoyed by that - I think four weeks is too fast to tie up all the loose ends.

I really have mixed feelings about it. In a way, I know I will miss it. But in another way, I think I will be glad when the roller-coaster ride (ups and downs in quality, mostly!) ends.

4 weeks..no puede ser and at the same time I want it to end, it's been enough. I gotta say if it wasn't for LFMB I woulda never found this site.

I am going to miss seeing Don Fern. I want to watch the early episodes so I hope to get the DVD version when it comes out and snag some nices pics while I'm at it of course.

So Aldo proposed. I suppose it was inevitable especially after the alicia tomy wedding.

Thanks for the recap Julie. Though I too will miss the gang (el grand amor de Lety y Fern, and Fern & Omar), this novela needs to end. I really like the 6 month limit b/c the extensions have impacted the quality of this novela.

Things I'm thinking about and would love others thoughts. If Lety accepted and rejected Fern's proposal, will she do the same with Aldo's?

Will Alicia be exposed/discovered by Tomy as a fraud?

Karen

What does DarthV mean. Is it that Aldo sold everything and lety feels guilty so she will hurt fern by marrying aldo???

Great recap, Julie--no need to revise. BTW, a shout out to your mention of "Agent 86," or Maxwell Smart. Love it.

Anyway, has anyone noticed that they have switched Alicia to long dresses now that she is a married woman? But she still displays the cleavage.

I think there are about five weeks left to the show, actually.

We can't seem to figure out how much time we have. Back in Feb when the show ended in Mexico we were SUPPOSEDLY 14 weeks behind which would mean June 1 as the end date. However then folks who had been checking episode numbers indicated that we have much longer to go and the show would end on June 22. The truth would seem to be somewhere in between but the sudden move to Final Chapters is unnerving because that usually only means a couple of weeks. In any even my guess in a mid June ending since 1) we've seen no previews or hints of what the replacement will be, 2) we are still getting action previews of the next days show not the montage that usually happens when they don't want to tip you off to the final. They have a whole lot of loose ends to tie up, not that that means anything since they often just shove a bunch of junk at you with no sense attached. I'm just wondering if we will get the full 3 hour ending they got in Mexico or if it will be spread out over three days.

Over on the Duelo boards they are already assuming they have 4 or 5 weeks to go and that show hasn't even shown the Final Weeks notice and Destilando has been extended for 100 more episodes before we had even seen the first moth. Who knows what will happen but I will miss LFMB and it always take awhile to get hooked with a new show all though rumors seem to indicate LFMB's replacement will also be a comedy.

Roseanna

Roseanne 100 more episodes of Destillando?? What is happening to the spanish soaps. They were known for their 4-6 month episodes. Now it seems that they can go for a year? I am not a happy camper with this. I like how the soaps start and end in a few months.

Roseanna 100 more episodes equals at least 5 months on top of the original??? Is it true that they always end with the two stars maturing and getting together in the end? Like lety and fern. This would be rodriqo and gaviota??

" . . .rumors seem to indicate LFMB's replacement will also be a comedy."

I swore to myself that I wouldn't start another novela for a long time - but another comedy in this time slot would be really tempting. Hmmmm. What to do??? I guess we'll have weeks of previews of the new show before it starts. I won't make any rash promises until I see what the next one looks like.
Ann

Hanging out the laundry on the roof--didn't Clarita and Gaviota do that when they first came to the city and lived in the little apartment with the hotel maid as their neighbor? My memory could be wrong on this, but that flashed into my mind.

I will miss this novela when it's over. I gues I will have to be content with watching the DVD's that I have been recording over the past several weeks. I have printed out all of the recaps since last November. I am so glad that I found this website. The recappers are terrific.

I enjoyed seeing Anjelica Vale on Ugly Betty even if her part was small. I hope we can see her in more English speaking roles.

Most people in Mexico hang their laundry out on the roof...

Is the deal with Lety, like the obese people that lose weight and suddenly get hit on by the opposite sex and don't know how to handle it? Cause I think she really likes the power Aurora holds...plus she knows it is hurting Caro (her one true friend)..I just think the duo personality is a let down..Aurora can put people in their place, I would have much more respect if she could do it as Lety..

Also is the whole brace thing becoming more extreme? When the camera is on her that is all you see, or she has her lips suck together in that "special look"

Yeah, Beckster, I think you might be right. It's like "Aurora" is drunk with the power of her own beauty.

I don't agree (with someone else, I forget who) that the boxy blazers Lety's wearing now are worse than the granny dresses she used to wear before Acapulco, but maybe that's just a matter of taste. (Boxy blazers were popular during my lifetime... granny dresses, not so much.) I think she really is making the deliberately ugly faces to further ensure that no one recognizes her as Aurora.

I gotta say, though, that I like the intentionally snotty Aurora better than the passive-aggressive Lety lately. I feel badly for her and everything, but see above about "drunk with power."

All righty - I polished it off a bit (just a few tweaks) and added more detail about that little conversation between Lety and Aldo at the end. That ought to do it.

"L'Auroraty" - Good one, Julie!
Ann

She'll probably accept the proposal. Hopefully Fern will come up with a great scheme to stop the wedding. He's at his best when he is scheming...All is fair in love and war!

Tani

Julie....
Yeah,..Krystal Carrington and myself both remember the boxy blazers...they were not that bad...I remember..I was totally new wave...which could explain, my love for Damian's (mundo)..asymetrical comb over..Gawd now I wanta blow something up....

Yeah the whole Aurora thing is like ha ha ha, I can be a snotty bitch and no one knows it is me..cause Lety while ugly is so nice and special..I can wear really low cut dresses and have guys panting after me...but it is not me cause I am still a really good nina, just like daddy says..I'm telling you "Dr Phil House"...well I guess she had to do it cause in this day of caller Id she couldn't just prank call all the hateful people.

Alicia's stay with Tomama may not have improved her domestic skills much, but she co-opted the "little dog-ear" nickname for Tomas. Pobre Tomas and Lety both need a good dose of spine stiffener. Maybe Aurora could give them some.

I don't know what will happen, but, I wonder if Fern will have to kiss Aurora for the show and realize it is Lety????
Although the way Aurora treats Fern I doubt very much if she will let him that close to her.
I hope that eventually Lety will keep a little bit of Aurora. She could use the confidence!

Carrie L.

Carrie,

I've been thinking the same thing. If he has to kiss her and it's odd because i don't think he really wants to and Aurora definitely won't want to, the game will be over. He'll know immediately, well maybe not instantly because the braces are missing, but Lety will have to fact the fact that he is her real love not Dr. Phil who has found a new subject to preach to.

Can someone tell me who the preacher man is. I want to look him up on youtube, for past discussions he has had with lety and fernando??

Carrie - I like the way you think!

I don't remember a "preacher man," but if you mean Psychic Guy, I think his name is Jorge Flores. Maybe that'll help.

I was watchin LFMB on youtube.Remember when Fernando and Lety went to the resort, they had a setion on meditation i saw a familar face the guy teaching them this complicated relaxation mode is the same guy in Destilando amor Acacia's uncle...

*ZZzzz*

sorry ment session

*ZZzzz*

thank you Julie, that was the name (Jorge Flores and he is always referred to as psychic guy. HOpefully he shows up soon. Also for anonymous, I find it hard to beieve that the uncle of acacia is one in the same as the meditation teacher. It would be hard to fanthom him being anything but horrible.

Julie, as always, a wonderful recap! Thanks! (I don’t know why you thought it was a draft. It’s stellar and your sense of humor is the best!)

“he's going to be so passionate, so ardent, so... Aldo interrupts him. (THANK YOU ALDO!)” Amen, sistah. I was ready to turn off the sound and look away from the captions (but I guess I could fast forward).

“(I just noticed the candy-cane stripes on Fern's tie. Yummy!)” Maybe the wardrobe folks chose it with you in mind, Julie.

“Tomas asks if she can't please be more discreet!” And don’t we ALL wish for that, too? Darn that Alicia for picking up the “little dog-ear” label from his Mama.

“(So is the front desk now completely unsupervised? Did Jazmin simply settle into her job in a competent and satisfactory manner, or did she get fired without us getting to enjoy the spectacle?)” LOL! It’s just fine with me that she’s gone but I would have liked to see this spectacle, too.

The scene with Aldo meeting Aurora and spouting psychobabble to her was indeed “hi-larious!” Is it possible that he knows who is under that makeup and red wig and was messin’ with Lety? (As you say, Julie, “knowin”?) Yep, it’s definitely possible. But if he does know it is her, perhaps he wouldn’t think she’d be good for Fern after all.

“L'Auroraty” LOL! Yep, that’s her.

Oh, I can’t believe this could finally be over! I’ll miss it, I’ll miss all of you (though I may continue watching at this time period), and at the same time I am ready for Fern and Lety to get their act together. I hope four weeks is enough time to do that.

Jeanne

Karen, to answer your questions (well, one of them, because I don’t care about Tomy and Alicia) “If Lety accepted and rejected Fern's proposal, will she do the same with Aldo's?” I would not put anything past her at this point. I certainly hope she does not accept it. I hope she takes a long, hard look at Aldo and says, “why would I marry this middle-aged guy, listen to him lecture endlessly about food and life when a hottie like Don Fernando is devoted to me. I better go see if he still wants me!” HA! I don’t see that happening. I doubt they are done torturing the viewers yet. If she does say yes, hope she has the guts to tell Ferni and not let him hear it from Aldo. But I can’t even think about her saying yes. No way. BTW, I was home on Friday and I was flipping thru the channels around 4 pm and saw Ariel on one of the other Spanish language stations. Must have been an old novella. He had more hair and kind of longish sideburns. It gave me a chuckle.

oh my GOD!!!Our Jaime was absolutely robbed of his TVyNovela award by Eduardo Yanez.Jaime put his soul on this role and it is absolutely unfair that he lost from Eduardo.Sorry Eduardo Fans!!

Hey,girls. I read a new information about Pasion and I wanted to share it with you.The female lead is not going to be Adela Noriega as it was rumoured.Guess who? Susanna Gonzalez. What do you think of that?

I had to look up Susana Gonzalez to see who that was... Babe Lawyer from Heridas?

It's too bad about Camil losing out to Yanez. Both of them are impressive, but I think Camil might have more range (or at least, I've seen more range from him).

Jeanne,

I couldn't be sure whether Aldo recognized Lety as Aurora or not. He really did give her quite the funny look after he checked Lety's office and found her gone. But if he does know (and I think he does), I guess he's not ready to confront her just yet. :)

I love Fernando's ties! I'm sure they are extremely expensive (being a fan of nice ties for men). Recently when shopping with my son for a dress shirt and tie, I was surprised just how expensive they are.
He ended up borrowing his dad's but I always point out to him how nice Fernando looks. I'm not sure he appreciates it but at least he is polite about his mother's Fernando fasination!

I went to imdb to check out Jaime Camil stuff and guess what he is in negogiations for an English pic called Solitary Birds. I hope he does it.

It is a shame he hasn't rested yet since LFMB especially since he did Proposito de Alexa and another flick Las Bicicletas.

I'm definitely up for more Jaime Camil. And if it's going to be in English, so much the better. Not that I don't LOVE reading captions, but... it's nice to be able to look at his face once in a while, too. :)

I had also noticed Alicia's longer dresses now that she is a married woman and think she looks so much better. Does anyone know if this is typical in Mexico that a married woman will immediately change her dress to something more modest?

Alicia's waiting until her fertile time for sex might backfire. Before you know it we'll have little TomyLicia's running around.

That's assuming she tells the truth about which days are her fertile ones. :)

Or it could be that she's actually eager to produce an heir, for some reason. I haven't detected that she has a maternal bone in her body, but I suppose that's not my problem.

One tiny little note on AliToma: when she was laughing at Omar about his being head over heels with Aurora, she snorted just like Tomas does when he laughs. Is it just me, or is that the first time she ever did that?

Also, I do and don't want this story to end. As someone said earlier, I will really miss everyone on this site. I hope everyone watches the new story that will come on next so we can keep in touch with our hilarious recappers and our witty and insightful commentors.

That's at least the third time Alicia has snorted. I'm not sure when the second time was, but I think Amanda recapped it. The first time was at the end of the episode where Ariel seemingly declared himself president of the company. Ali and Tomy were sharing a rare moment of mutual levity, laughing and snorting out in the Vortex, when Ariel showed up and totally killed the mood.

I think Alibubi thought up that "fertile period" scam just to put off the inevitable. I think she thinks she'll think of something when the time comes to avoid it yet again...

How sad is it that lately, I'm actually more curious about Alicia than I am about Lety? :(

TVyNovela award--I guess that is the equivalent of an emmy?
How could they not give it to Jaime! Not that I know anything about the other guy, but Jaime sure did put his heart and soul into this role.
Hasn’t Alicia only been in the long dress for one day?

There’s no way that Aldo knows about Aurora. I think the little laugh he gave was more amusement in her personality, especially after hearing so much about her. Secondly, he was telling Tomas after meeting her, she would be a good match for Ferni. Thirdly, there’s no way Aldo, the control-freak, would brush this under the rug before proposing to Lety.

This was a great episode and re-cap. The flow was good and I liked all the interaction between the characters. Plus the cuartel had minimal screen time. Lety and Fern are so cute together. I don’t think she is so much as jealous of herself as not wanting a Fern/Aurora flirtation to further complicate the situation.

Did anyone else notice that not only has Lety lowered Aldo to baby talk, but she got Caro to do it too?

Julie, I think you are right. If he recognized her, he's not ready to confront. But, this could be why he quickly asked her to marry him.

Jeanne

Did anyone else noticied how freakin' close Aldo was standing to 'aurora' when he was introducing himself? Yuck! It's like he has to try to seduce and intimidate at the same time. What a hoser.

Aldo always invades the personal space of who he is talking to. As Americans we tend to be a little creeped out by it but it is standard procedure for Europeans and South Americans.

I don't think Aldo has a clue that Lety is Aurora because he sure as heck wouldn't be telling people she would be so great for Fern. When Lety was hedging around trying to tell him about being Aurora and he went off on the deception rant and shut her up, had he known I'm pretty sure he would never have gone off like that and would have played Dr. Phil again to get her to speak up. I think he got in the marry me mood at the wedding especially after Fern and Lety caught the bouquet and garter. He knows that Fern is still in love with Lety but he might have doubts about her so plans to seal the deal ASAP without ever knowing that she told Fern she would marry him and then backed off to chase after Aldo. Shell say yes and then perhaps her mother will remind her to be sure she knows what she is doing since she promised to marry Fern less than a month ago.

I've missed PG as well and wonder if he will make another appearance. Fern has done all the things PG predicted and has made the transition into a decent caring adult while Lety was supposed to have to fight for what she wanted. I haven't seen any evidence that she has done anything to facilitate growing up and as for fighting - no way. She is still standing around passively and letting things happen to her and Aldo think and speak for her. I hope that after she accepts Aldo's proposal Fern takes off and then let her realize who she really loves and have to go after him. We heard that the final was filmed in Monterey so obviously someone has to leave the DF for some reason.

I made it to Maine (2 trains and one bus).
I persuaded a local moving company to come to D.C. and get my stuff and bring it all back up here. I've been too busy packing to go to libraryofcongress to read these lfmb summaries & posts and I can't get caught up today either.
I'm only on the library's free internet today to check the phone numbers of the best apartment ads to make sure they aren't realtors (prefer to deal w/landlord directly).
The motel I'm at hasn't univision so I can't see any currently broadcasting lfmb episodes. If I weren't so busy (and tired) I'd be having LFMB-Withdrawal.
I see that your sitemeter shows me signed on as lib.me.us (Orono, Maine) -- I'm not in Orono - I suppose all of Maine's free libraries operate out of there.
I gotta go call potential landlords now.
Hopefully in a couplethree weeks I'll be settled and back with you-all.
The public library here only allows 90 minutes a day on the free internet (they have 8 public terminals operating of their official 11) and you have to enter your library number so they can clock you. Sheesh.
Hope you're all ok.
When I finally get back here I'll read this comments area first, before getting caught up, for Fri 5/18 3:30pm to see if any of you are saying "hi" to me. I miss all of you.
Thanks again for this site more than ever since I won't be able to see LFMB here so I'll miss all of these last episodes -- the closest univision affiliate broadcasts out of Boston, and I'm too cheap to get any kind of pay-tv.

Wow.
You've been busy.
Take it easy, /mab!

Have to wonder about Yanez over JC in an award from TV & Novelas. You can't really compare a comedic performance against a straight drama. Drama always wins because actors can get away with over emoting and comedy require a more deft touch. In any event it is an award from a magazine voted on by their staff so it's in no way comparable to an Emmy just like Premios is a popularity contest like the People's Choice awards. Both are nice for the actor in question but certainly not any indication of a truly great performance.

Terri

/mab,

good luck finding a place!

Teresa

somehow this novela seems to be in the middle (not the end) of the story.

Terri, that's a problem I've always had with the Oscars, trying to compare comedy and drama. It should be like the Golden Globes with separate categories for each. Oh well, it is a shame though, I've watched a couple of episodes of Destilando and personally I think JC deserved it more. Still, there are those who will disagree with me, we're all different. But really, how anyone could have not voted for those big brown puppy dog eyes is beyond me. :o)

I've been trying to find a really good Fern wallpaper picture for my computer. I checked the Esmas site but only 3 La Fea's were available and none I especially liked.
Does anyone have any ideas where to look?

Thanks,
Carrie L.

I only have pics nothing that would work as a screensaver. I do have Jaime Camil stuff. would that work or does it have to be Don Fern?

Carrie L., he's got some great pics at his web site at jaimecamil.com. Especially pics from some of his "projects".
Kim P.

I just read on Jaime's website that he will be a guest tomorrow (Wednesday, May 23) on the Christina show in Miami. You lucky people who had already planned on going. Wow! Have a great time and feast your eyes on Jaime Camil for me, too.

Thanks so much Maryselis and Kim!
Right now my screen saver is Lety but I would love to have a really good Fernie.
I guess the wallpapers work better than just pictures on my computer.
I'll keep looking but thanks for the help.

Carrie L.

Not being a computer wiz I've been corrected that what I have of Lety is called wallpaper (not a screen saver).
It is what you see when you turn on the computer and select where you want to go.
Thanks again,

Carrie L.

Carrie, in case you didn't know this, just find a picture you like and right-click with your mouse. Choose "set as wallpaper." You'll have the option to have it centered, tiled, or streeeeeeeetched to fit your screen.

Sorry, it may say "set as desktop background" rather than "wallpaper." But it's the same thing.

has anyone noticed that lety's hair... is stained red?

How lucky we are, to have libraries that give us free internet access, even if it is for a limited amount of time each day! It helps to break down the digital divide that keeps people out.

Thanks Julie! I have (with my son's help) tried to stretch pictures and get them to fit but they just don't seem to fit as well as those labeled as wallpaper.
I think I'll try a few more pictures instead of continuing to look for wallpaper.
I've been looking at the one of Lety for so long that I'm a little tired of it.
I think I could look at a gorgeous picture of Don Fernie for the next hundred years or so and not feel that way!
Since this is a common household computer I have to be a little selective.
Thanks everyone for all the hints and suggestions!

Carrie L.
