La Fea Más Bella #295B 6/14/07 Faithful Viewers Are Gypped Of What They Really Want

In the Vortex of Stupidity and Perpetual Prattle, the cuartel and Caro discuss the new developments with Aurolety. Martha is surprised at how much has happened while she was out [Oh, was she out? I hadn’t even noticed. What I did notice is that she looks pretty good in her striped black suit. I think they finally let her take off the fat suit]. The women note that it’s not fair that poor little Lety has to deal with so much man-related drama. Lola adds that men stink. As an example, she tells poses her own dilemma: first El Cheque leaves her for that husband-stealer, and now he wants to hook up with her again.

Suddenly, they hear Marcia squeal from her office "Ay que emocion!" (How exciting/moving!) They run right over to hear the gossip first hand. Marcia is reads the note on computer screen, "Your name is the beginning of the mar (sea), where I navego (maneuver, steer) through my dream, in which you fall in love with me, just as I am in love with you." The women are impressed. They ask who wrote it. She replies that it was Octavio, her secret admirer. Turns out she’s been chatting with him. With very little arm-twisting from the gals, she requests a photo from Mr. Secret Admirer of the Wingtips (Mr…S.A.W.!…yikes, not a good sign!).

The guy sends a picture back immediately. Marcia opens the photo as the women look on anxiously. They all squeal as the photo come sup on the screen, but not in a good way. He’s a not-so-hot looking guy with long, with greasy hair, and a big mole on the tip of his nose. The absence of emotion on his face is reminiscent of a mug shot. Marcia is impactada. [Not a good sign, indeed. On the other hand, this guy could definitely pass as a creepy stalker, but does he look like he walks around in wingtips? Let’s hope Mr. SAW is just kidding with this picture.]

Luigi and Lety sneak down hospital corridor. Luigi holds on tightly to Lety’s arm. Luigi does not want to run into his dad. From behind, they hear someone call "Luis, hijo!" Lety guesses that dad has found him. She giggles at learning that Luigi’s real name is Luis.

Dad tells Luigi his mom will be happy to see him. Still facing away from him, Luigi asks "But not you, right?" Dad responds that at his age there is no room for rancor. Luigi says that he has enough of it for the both of them. Finally turning around, he is surprised at his dad’s appearance: "Dad, you got old!" Dad responds that he I became old before he could become sabio (wise). But, he adds, getting old is a law of life. Luigi retorts that, for dad, everything is about the laws of life; he can’t see beyond what he considers right and moral. Dad admits, that no, he could not accept that his son turned… Luigi finishes his sentence, "Gay is the word, and that doesn’t make me less of a man." Luigi adds that he left home to save dad the bother of having him around, and that it must have been so hard for dad, what with him being such a macho-macho man, earning living in a boxing ring. Luigi raises his fists for effect.

Again, dad says that he was ashamed of having a son who was… This time Lety jumps in. She introduces herself to Lui’s dad and tells Lui that this may not be the best time for this discussion with dad. Just then a nurse walks over to them. She says that mom’s condition is delicate, and they do not expect her to make it much longer. Luigi covers his mouth in agony.

Luigi goes to his mom’s hospital room. He heartwarmingly kisses her hand. In Tomas’s office, he advises Alicia that he needs to verify whether Jacque’s check has posted. He begins to sign in on his computer. Alicia excitedly offers to check for him. Tomas’s tell her she can’t check the balance because she must stay away from excitement, due to her ongoing medical treatments [A brilliant act of pure genius—or at least it would be if Tomas had a clue. I mean, since her treatment story is a farce, Tomas can make up all kinds of cool restrictions for her, right? Great going, Tomas!]. Tom suddenly remembers he has to see Lopez about something.

As soon as he walks out, Alicia runs over to his computer. She tries to figure out the password. She remembers seeing Tom type an A. She thinks the password might be "arina" (flour) because his mom bakes with flour. "Arina" doesn’t work. She wonders what it could possibly be. She pulls out one of the many photos of herself hat Tom has under his inkblotter. She Looks at her picture and asks herself, "Alicia, Alicia, Alicia, what could that password be?" She milks this gag way too long before finally realizing that the password must be "Alicia". Then, in a moment of lucidity – the type only Alicia could experience – she reasons that since the password is "Alicia," then the money must be hers!

Lety prays to the heavens to help Luigi’s mom, because Luigi needs her.

Lui’s mom asks his forgiveness for not being brave enough to defend him. Luigi says that he learned very early in life how to deal with the teasing and taunting, but he really needed mom and pop to love him. She explains that she was not educated, she was ignorant, but after Lui left, she asked around and investigated. And she learned that they have to accept and respect everyone as they are.

Lui responds that if she can accept him as he is, then he will be a happy camper… plus, now he will be able to accept others as they are! In a restroom, Lety talks to herself in the mirror. She says that everyday she is more Aurora, and less Lety. She has some Deep Thought questions. How will she find the real her? Which one is her real face? What face does her soul have? [Luckily, as Aldo is far, far away, we will not have to hear another Deep Thought diatribe that basically means "Awh, shut up and get over yourself already, jeez!"]

Back in the hospital waiting room, Lui’s dad tells Lety about how guilty he feels that for treating Lui so badly. He didn’t realize he was wrong until Lui had left.

Lui runs in and calls dad and Lety back to mom’s room. Look, everyone, mom is no longer on the brink of death! Mom confirms that, yes, Luigi’s forgiveness has returned the life to her previously moribund body. Lety whispers that it’s a miracle. Luigi thanks Lety for helping him to see the light. He adds that now wants to help her. Lety doesn’t think there is much Lui can do for her. He shushes her. He looks at her intently and says he sees something. Lety asks "What? Do I look uglier?" A Lui answer that, no, what he sees is something special that he hadn’t noticed before.

Back at a Conceptos studio, Luigi is staring at Lety again. He thinks he understand her soul bow. He gets really close and concludes that her nose is the center of her personality. He takes lots of pictures of her face. He says that this will be his most important work -- the recreation of natural beauty. He reads an imaginary news headline "Luigi Lombardi Creates the Face of the Fea Mas Bella." I guess he’s got a digital camera, because we instantaneously see the pics he just took of Lety on a big wall monitor. Lui studies the pics and types commands into the computer. This causes the pics to multiply on the monitor, and as the camera angle pulls back, all the pics on the monitor blend into one big picture of The New Lety.

In a new scene, we're in a darkend room and Luigi calls for the lights. The lights go on, and we see Lety standing on a platform. She’s in a white floral blouse and a white skirt. Her make-up is simple and her hair is lightened and layered. [I prefer her with darker hair, but overall, I like this look because she looks… well, not drop-dead gorgeous; just plain, everyday, catch-your-eye-in-the-ice-cream-shop pretty.] Luigi, on the other hand, thinks she looks gorgeous and just divine. He circles the platform as he inspects his masterpiece, and asks, "Well, Leticia Padilla Solis, now that you have discovered your beauty, what will you do? Will you hide again, like you did with Aurora, or will you be you now?"

As we fade to the circle of goodbye, all I can think -- as I'm sure everyone did-- is, What a gyp! A whole episode and not a single shot of Don Fern? QUE THE HECK?!!

Comments:
Yeah, but Luigi and his parents made me cry. I guess maybe Fern is licking his wounds somewhere, berating himself for being an idiot with Lety?

I love the new Lety. She's not drop-dead gorgeous, but she's so beautiful...like Luigi said, "luminous." That's the perfect word for her.
Bad: No Fern.
Good: No Aldo.
Great: No Carmina.
Does that about cover it?

Sure, Luigi's hospital scenes were real tear-jerkers -- until the miraculous recovery... Then I just had to laugh!

Ah yes, no Deep Thoughts Of Self Righteousness tonight. Thanks for helping see the bright side!

Oh, I LOVED this episode. Maybe if it hadn't cut off a half-hour before it should have, we would have seen Don Fernando.

I sat forward in my chair, almost with my nose right on the screen, and squealed and yelped and cheered when Luigi/Luis said he was gay and no less of a man because of it, then again when his parents said they had been wrong for being homophobic and rejecting him. Yeah, the miraculous revival was a bit cheesy (and I was waiting for her to drop dead at the last second) but I don't care.
: )

And I about *bawled* when Luigi said "mi amiga, Lety." Took him long enough!

I didn't think we got gyped at all, except for Fernando not be in the episode. I thought that Lety did look beautiful & not plain at all. The whole point of the make over is to reflect on the outside the person she is on the inside. Her new look is a huge improvement & I thought the lighter hair suited her. She wasn't even wearing the support hose. At least now her hair moves, unlike the flat, moosed-up style she was supporting before. I'm so glad Luigi has finally opened his eyes & can see why so many people love Lety. The way Luigi described her as luminous reminded me of the time Anais said the same thing to her in Acapulco.

I'm sorry guys. There were so many typos in my post. I blame it on lack of sleep.

Ok, let me just say it: My prediction is that Marcia secret admirer is CELSO! I really feel that it has to be somebody we already know, and he's one of the few people left that we know very little about and practically has no story.

Anyway, that's my prediction. Would be interesting if it's true.

I hated the makeover, though I wasn't impactada with disappointment cause I'd seen it on You Tube. I guess this is telenovela land's concept of perfect beauty but for me, I liked her better before. The hair color too fake, the hair style too fancy, and too much makeup. Of course I don't wear any makeup and have no hairdo so I guess I'm not entitled to an opinion.

About the level of maquillage considered normal in novelas - when my daughter was a toddler, she CRIED AND CRIED when confronted with women with this much makeup on. She also hated clowns. From the mouths of babes, I say.

My VCR didn't function last night and I didn't see this episode on Youtube so waaaaaaaaah...Sure hoping the DVD comes out so I can watch all the favorite scenes I missed.
Still, my emotional reaction to learning the VCR didn't work tells me I am WAY TOO HOOKED on this show. Is there a 12-step group for folks like me?

Judy B.

I think lety's hair style and color were absolutely gorgeous. She looked so natural. clean shiny soft hair and her face looking soft and pretty. As far as luigy. I shed a tear for a few moments. but think!!. He told lety that he can now accept her now that he can accept himself and he sees something special in her. In the next scene, he is making

her over to suit his needs. In other words, he is still luigy and gay and lety is no longer the homely ugly fea. she is transformed. What is wrong with Ocampy. He accepts her?? but changes her. He accepts himself but doesn't change himself. HELLO!!!! Also what is sad. I was waiting and waiting to see scenes of lety and fern and I look at my watch and it is only 7:20. I think WOW, still 40 minutes more and suddenly remembered. NO it is 10 mnutes more. what a letdown.

I agree with you Melinama, I wasn't crazy about the make over either.
I like her better with the dark hair. I even like her better as Lety of late and even Aurora.
I think in her natural Lety (at the hospital) she was beautiful.
The make over was sort of half way between natural Lety and super fake Aurora.
Yes, I missed Fern terribly!!!!!!!
I felt they could have shortened the miraculous hospital scene and at least shown him thinking of Lety in his office cave.

Thanks so much for the recap!
Carrie L.

The new Lety looks like Angelica Vale does in real life!

Alma, thanks for the wonderful recap! No apologies for typos, please. Instead, we applaud the rapid-fire posting!

“since her treatment story is a farce, Tomas can make up all kinds of cool restrictions for her, right? Great going, Tomas!” LOL! This was truly brilliant, wasn’t it? There’s lots of hope for Tomy. He’s a smart guy, if naïve as the dickens. Alicia, OTOH, is not a smart gal, even for all her street-wise. The odds are definitely in his favor here.

It was neat to see Luigi reconcile with his parents. Apparently Duelo is not the only place we have visitations from the Virgencita. I thought Luigi’s studying of Lety was rather sweet. He did get some nice shots of Lety with her formerly-fea-emerging-into-bonita look.

No FERN! Drat! Anon 12:58, I like your list!

Judy B, if there is a 12-step group for people hooked on telenovelas, let me know. If there is not, we’ll start one together.

Jeanne

I did miss Fern, and I really thought it was wrong for a woman at death's door to suddenly recover when she could have died from happiness instead; but otherwise I enjoyed this episode a lot. (Still liked the recap better, alas.)

I had to laugh when Luigi was pondering Lety's new look and just happened to be standing next to a sales display of Garnier Nutrisse. I'm glad we were spared a full-blown product placement ad, but I happen to know that that product comes in shades that would have been more flattering on Lety than the one she ended up with.

I agree it was too much makeup on the New Lety, and I like her hair better dark (I thought she looked GREAT in the People article); but the important thing is that he finally got the grease/gel/whatever out of her hair.

I'm guessing the photo of Octavio is a joke. If not, maybe Luigi can make him over too. :)

I like Lety's new look, although I thinkn that dark hair would be more natural and look better on her. I am so sad that this novela is coming to an end. I really like this website & enjoy reading the comments. I tried to watch Juan Q but I guess I'm really not into him. I'm just saying.....

Thanks Jeanne....maybe THIS is our 12-step group...we can whine about our sadness at missing episodes (especially with Fernando), at seeing the whole thing come to an end (however happy) and then share our "hope and experience" and move on.
While I may not like the telenovelas to come, I know I'll always continue coming to this site because I love you people...your humor, your intelligence, your insight, your empathy...there is always something here that just makes my day.
What a treat. Many many thanks to you all and a boatload of thanks to Blog Mom Melinama.

Judy B.

I loved Lety's makeover but agree that she would've been just as pretty with her hair kept dark. Maybe they wanted to show a more dramatic change. It will be so nice to see her with loose hair and even just a bit of makeup. Of course, I come from Dallas where we're known for big hair and makeup so, Melinama, it's a good thing you didn't bring your toddler here, especially during the 80's. She would have been emotionally traumatized for life.

These short episodes are a killer. Why did they do that to us! Last night was the last time of trying to stick to Juan Querendon hoping that it will grab my attention. It's useless. The characters just don't appeal to me. Plus, its annoying the cut La Fea in half to get us hooked on this drivel. If anyone else is watching a good telenovela, please let me know. Is Destilando good?

It's going to be hard to watch the mess Alicia gets herself into during the next few episodes. The girl has cherry pits for brains.

Judy B--Yes, this is our group. Works for me.

Jeanne

Judy B, I missed Wednesday's episode and when I realised my vcr hadn't worked I couldn't breath! You are not alone! Thanks for the information you gave me yesterday Ann, I couldn't find the episode, though, but I did find out that La Fea Mas Bella has a huge fan base in Turkey and that Omar used to be in a boy band!!! Did anyone else know this? Garibaldi was the name.
Connie, if you're looking for a good show, you should catch Zorro, there are english subtitles and it's good old fashioned drama, I love that gypsy dude the one in love with the nun (does that tell you something?) anyway, I love this blog too! As for last night's episode, didn't they say something to the effect of "that's Jauna's hermano" or something when they saw the picture of Marcia's admirer? I think they're just kidding with that picture too, he's probably going to be a real suave guy, judging from his shoes. And you really can tell a lot about a man by his shoes!

Lori

Thanks, Lori. I'll check Zorro out. The English subtitles would be nice. Also, thanks to Jeanne for giving the abbreviation definitions yesterday.

Yes, the "Juana's hermano" comment was really insulting (to Juana, at least!). I like this new side of Marcia - happy, down-to-earth, friendly - but the cuartel hasn't changed much.

I had no idea Omar had been in a boy band. Did he play bass? That's a good instrument for big handsome mitts. :)

Connie, I love Destilando a lot. Whether or not you will like it is another question, I suppose, but you could give it a chance. It might take some time to get into, of course, but in the meantime you can enjoy the mockery. :)

And Duelo is ending soon too, I think, right? So that might be another chance to get hooked on something new.

I'm gay and I didn't care about most of Luigi's reconciliation, although did like some of the lines. I've found Luigi to be mildly entertaining as a conspicuous homo, and for the most part, being his creative, supercillious self, but honestly, I'd find it more interesting if on all TV, there were more gay characters that were more subtle and less stereotyped.
----------
In painting class, one professor taught us that there is a natural relation between skin tone/color and hair color. Although the cosmetics industry would have all women believe that they look better/younger in one or two shades lighter, nearly ALL hair coloring just looks fake. It clashes with skin color and takes a period of adjustment.

People around a person with colored hair get used to it, but on first look, most people with colored hair just look a bit odd. Again, the disparity between the relationship of skin to hair color.

I go for the natural look. When makeup is used, it should be applied sparingly. I think women are beautiful without it. Therefore, I don't care for Lety's new look with the 60's hair and too much makeup. Reminds me of a doll.

I prefer Lety of late, without the glasses. Maybe with a shorter or less plastered hair style.

Sooooo now Luigi is all forgiven and has a great turn around from when he used to scream when Lety came in the room..great

Connie,
Try"Destilando" I think you will like it. The best part of this novela is that it's fast moving and we don't have to wait until the final curtain for the two lovers to get together.
My 12 step program:
1. Watch "Alborado" - Fall in love with Luis.
2. Watch " Las Fea" - Fall in love with Fernando (yum)
3. Watch "Destilando" = Fall in love with Rod.
What's next? I think there may be a pirate in my future.

Anon 11:18 -- "People around a person with colored hair get used to it, but on first look, most people with colored hair just look a bit odd." You are so right. A perfect example is the hair color they have done on Mama Teresita in LFMB--it is beyond odd, and I would never get used to seeing it. I agree, most coloring is just odd, no matter how subtle, if it is not a person's natural shade. I'm glad my stylist went back to her natural color and understands why I want my silver hair to come in naturally. Many stylists don't and try to sell you lots of stuff. (She also won't let me perm my hair, which is a Very Good Thing as I did in the past and it's not a pretty picture).

Alice, that's a good 12-step strategy. Hear, hear on Alborada! I love that one!

Jeanne

I have a theory about Marcia's secret admirer. I think the picture is a farse. But only to go along with the show. I agree that he may be someone she already knows, but that picture is fake so that he can find out if outward beauty is important to her or not.

Michaelle

Destilando is excellent and the whole hour is intense. No fillers that I can see and I have watched it since day one, which is about two or three months??

Thanks everyone for your La Fea replacement suggestions. Alice, love your 12-step program. Maybe I'll try it, too.

I didn't have a problem with Luigi making over Lety. He accepts her as she is but also sees that she is conflicted between her fea and overdone Aurora selves. His work on her just shows her that the two sides can both bring something to the party and that it isn't a matter of either or. We don't know at this point if she is going to stick to that persona. Angelica looks great with the red tints in her hair but I've always thought she looked better with dark hair as she has been in her earlier novelas.

I don't have a problem with people playing with their hair color, heck I've done it for years myself going from my normal medium brown to several shades of red before ending up with a light brown streaked with blonde which looks much better on me than my real color. I always wanted to have black hair but no beautician will do for me telling me my skin is so fair I would end up gothlike not glamourous.

The Luigi family scene did make me cry but enough with miraculous cures. For the most part they never happen in real life and good, caring people die before their time.

Alicia and Tomy sucking up precious minutes of air time to no purpose. BIG YAWN.

So Omar was in Garibaldi. I'n now beging to wonder who in the h**l in novela land wasn't in that group at one time or another. I did watch a You Tube clip of Omar and Fern singing to Caro so anything is possible.

No Fern - well maybe tonight with be ALL FERN.

I watch Destilando and it's a really good show. And as another poster stated we do see the lovers together and not towards the end of the novela. As far as Lety's new look less is more LOL. I think Lety looks prettier in her natural hair color with very little makeup. I hated that we didn't see any Fernando but I guess we can blame the cut to 30 minutes for that. Glad not to see Aldo and I'm really tired of Alicia and Tomy. Enough already. Anyone know if the finale will be 3 hours or if that will also be cut down to 1/2 hour shows.

Did a little research on Garibaldi. There were two groups that worked under that name. The original had Sergio Mayer and Patty Monterola so LFMB must have been a mini reunion for them. Agustin Arana was in the second Garibaldi group and I haven't yet found out who else was in it. He is slightly older than I originally thought at 39, grew up on a farm riding horses and he did use those big mitts of his as a semi professional boxer. At least it looks like he never took at hits to the face.

Terri

I think this is the first show ever with no Fern. Of course, it's probably due to the half-hour format.

I really hope they don't breakdown the finale in to half-hour sections. What a letdown that would be! I hope they do a one-hour and two-hour show if they break it up at all.

I think the photo of Marcia's secret novio was fake too. That guy doesn't look like him owns a suit, let alone wing tips. It's probably a test!

I agree with everyone about the hair color, she needs something a little darker.

Anyone switching over to Destilando can expect a long novela. It started in Mexico at the end of January and here at the end of March. Shortly after it started here there was an announcement that it had been extended for 100 episodes which is about 5 months. Tack that on to a show that would have been at least 6 or 8 months long and you're looking at another novela running slightly over a year. Yes someone pointed out that novelas usually run 6 months but that hasn't been true for a long time. The average time now is more like 9 or 10 mmonths and moving into anywhere from 12 to 14. The shoertest I ever saw was 4 months (and wonderful) while the longest was 2 years (and awful beyond words).

I think with the costs for production and talent going up producers are locking in shows for longer time frames to save money. Over and above the constant product placement, LFMB having been the worst I've eve seen, sharp eyed viewers can catch recycled props and sets. I've seen one house in at least 5 different novelas and many us remember those watermelons in La Madrasta and certainly the blue pencils in LFMB have traveled to other shows as well.

Johanna

I didn't think Lety had too much make up on... Maybe I was sitting too far from the TV... or maybe after seeing the Aurora look, pretty much anything would have seemed more natural...

I missed the final reveal of her makeover because my tape popped out.
(Well, at least that got me to look at the owner’s manual and learn how to prevent that in the future.) I did see a different Lety look on youtube awhile back. I agree, I wish they would have kept her a brunette. Better yet, I wish she could make her own decisions about a hair style or any kind of change. (Yeah, right.) Doesn’t really matter because the problem is not Lety’s looks. (BTW, if Don Fern loved me just as I am, I would seriously consider not changing a darn thing!) Now about the photo of that guy……it looked like they gave him a couple of strategically placed moles and I am not crazy about long hair, I may be all alone here, but I don’t think he was all that feo.
Obviously, Marcia and the cuartel have not looked at any internet dating sites, then they could really find some photos and write ups that would make them scream! The guy in the pic does not look like the wing tip shoe type, but if the photo is a test, that’s messed up. Red flag. Why play games and put someone to a test? Of course, this is television. I wish they would spread the end out over 2 nites, but I am afraid they aren’t going to. : ( Like I said yesterday, I fear we are headed for a week of half hour episodes. Grrrr.......

Teresa

P.S. forgot to say thanks, Alma! I think I forgot to say thanks these last few days. I was so mad at Lety, I got right into my venting and ranting. So thank you recappers and Melinama, soooo much! You all are great! Providing such wonderful, humorous recaps that so many of us rely on to understand this show. : )

The only and I mean only good thing about showing the ending in half hour bits is that we will see little repeats every day of hopefully good stuff like Lety dumping Aldo and kissing up to Fern. The end is reputed to be very romantic so I really wish for a single three hour shot but have long ago given up hope about seeing that and would happily settle for three one hour numbers. Half hour bits ruin the tension.

I too question the wisdom of Octavio sending such a hideous picture unless it is supposed to be a giant joke. Someone mentioned thinking it might be Celso which would be interesting but he doesn't seem the wing tip shoe type and he would have been working the day Marica and Luigi were stalked.

I thought Lety looked pretty, even with that hair color, though I'm with the group that thinks darker would have been better. I had also not liked the idea that Luigi felt he had to change her, but Decie Girl made a very good point that maybe he was just trying to marry her two "selves". She's definitely been whining about it a lot lately (is she Lety or is she Aurora, blah blah blah).

I didn't really care for the hospital scene, just because of the way it ended. Acceptance, yay. Love, yay. Miracle of miracles Mom's just fine, huh? Puhleez. I know it's a comedy, but that really was a little over the top for my taste (I know, I know... if I want over the top I should watch Duelo).

I agree that Univision sucks dangles for this 1/2 hour crap their pulling. There's just no valid reason for it.

Lastly (for LFMB), I agree that an episode without Fernando just isn't worth it. There I was, drool bucket at the ready, and no Fernando, no Omar, no Aldo (sorry, I still like him, throbbing cold sore and all). I love Sergio Mayer, but it's kinda hard to drool when you're supposed to be all teary-eyed. I would have liked to have seen some Aldo in this, if only because I need to see him put Stalker Chick in her place for the crap she pulled. Come on writers, does ANYONE (Alicia or SC) pay for any of their "crimes" (in Alicia's case, a real crime)?

I've been watching Querendon, mostly because I want to be able to keep chatting with everyone, but I'm really not getting into it at all. Maybe I've gone to a few too many funerals lately, but women fighting over a casket just isn't my kind of humor (I'm more of a Mystery Science Theater 3000 or Monty Python kinda girl). Actually I have yet to find anything funny about the show. And while I was willing to accept that this new guy is no Jaime Camil but deserved a chance, I simply can't get into him. He's just so darned GOOFY looking to be a galan (just my personal taste)!

I've been watching Destilando Amor off and on since it started and I've been having a little trouble getting into it as well, but of all the ones out there, that's the one I'll probably continue to watch, though I'm eager to see what they'll be replacing Duelo with. Unfortunately Zorro isn't an option for me, none of the stations I get carry it.

No matter what, though, I'll keep reading the blogs 'cause I just love chatting with all you people.

Great recap Alma!

Lety did look luminous in the hospital, and in the "make over".
Her hair color was pretty, although she's prettier with darker hair. I used to "henna" my hair - LOL. I thought it was fantastic....ah, blind youth.

Luigi - couldn't care less about him. He's been too mean to Lety for too long. He, of all people, knew how it hurt to be rejected and made fun of.

I miss Fernando.

I haven't been on here for a long time, it has been all I could do just to read it. (We are getting ready for a BIG move, and have had relatives here all summer, too).

Anyway, THANK YOU all of you recappers!! Thank You ALma for today's, and to all for all of your hard work!! You saved me during the time we were up in Pa. looking for a place to live-no Univision-and I had to go to the library to read you online! since it was a timed deal-couldn't write online after reading it and checking my email, etc. While we do now have a place in Harrisburg, no Dish until 7/3/07, so I am glad to still be here in Fl. until 6/29. LOL! At least I get to SEE the end of LFMB! My husband is still up there, and he will miss it, since he won't be coming back until the actual move time. Really hard (after watching it for a year), and now for him to miss the end...!:-(

Where is the Pyshic Guy?? Maybe her could tell Marcia what is up with the "wing tip weirdo??

Also, what is going on with Fernando Colunga's "Pirates"? Where are they in the production schedule, and WHO is supposed to be the Leading Lady? (you all probably said before and I missed it).
Thanks Again for all that you and Melinama do!! :-)

Glad you are back Louise. Good luck in Harrisburg. Ok town. Spent 3 years there. Get ready for the the Penn State game day traffic. Oh yes, it starts in Harrisburg.

Is Alborado on DVD?

Guys and Gals, give Juan Q a chance. I go through a mourning period after the ending of every good soap where I just can't get in to the new one, (I seem to recall many Alborada addicts / Fea haters turned Fea lovers) but I keep watching the new ones and eventually I find I am attached and I do get into it. Fea is a little different case because it is more unique but I think you need to have open minds. And ladies, Juan is goofy now, but trust me, Eduardo is every bit as galan as Fer, even more so. He is very funny and classy and masculine unlike Jaime who tends toward the feminine side. I've seen Ed in person, and when his character matures after being cityfied, he'll be hotter than a tar pit!!!!

I found it on Amazon.com for $22.

I haven't seen it before but the synopsis sounds good.

Alice, I too love Luis and Fernando.
Today I took my kids to see Johnny Depp in Pirates 3 and he also has a gorgeous face! He's definitely a sexy pirate.
I thought after Alborada I would never find another show I would love as much. Then I found Fern and La Fea.
After La Fea I swear I won't get caught up with another, but, I know I'm just kidding myself!
I'm going to miss all these characters terribly! This whole ride has been a lot of fun.

Angelica (Lety) looked great in her new look..She has the skin that can wear auburn hair or dark hair. She's a beautiful woman, and according to People en Espanol (July Edition)dealing with her own insecurity issues, like everyone else. She's a great actress..

I've loved this show from day one,the ups and downs of the show, the good and bad acting, too much of the cuartel, too much Tomas & Alicia. This beautiful love story could have been shorten by months and still would have been just as popular with the viewers.I will miss it.

It's funny how everyone's taste can be so different. I for one don't find Jaime Camil, or Fernando Mendiola, at all feminine, just incredibly handsome. But that's just me and, with those big brown eyes and all, I guess I can see where some might think so. I'll still take him over anyone that's currently out there, though being new to telenovelas I have to admit there's still a lot (galan-wise) for me to see. I'm willing to keep looking for the next drool-bucket-worthy hero. Based on what you said, Anonymous 5:11, I guess I'll give it another week and see what happens, but it's going to take more than just the hero growing on me, I really haven't enjoyed the story so far. Thanks for the tip though!
Kim P.

Kim,

You echo my sentiments about Jaime Camil and Juan Q. exactly.

I too want to thank the recappers for their excellent comments. You all are a hoot! This is the first telenovela that I have seen and I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride, the corniness, the slapstick humor, etc. I will have withdrawal as well and it's nice to know I have company!
Anyone have any clue as to what the program schedule is for the final? I have someone who does the taping for me (since I don't get Univision ) and she needs to know when to set the vcr and for how long. Thanks to all of you !
Carla

We think there is one more week of the half-hour deal and then the finale maybe the following week broken up into 3 one-hour spots. They will probably start advertising the finale date next week.

Hi Everyone! this is the first time I have posted. I have been watching LFMB for several months. I only found this site about a month ago and was thrilled to find recap in english. Inspite of many spanish classes, I still am not fluent, but can catch a little. I love reading the posts. Thankyou to the recappers for their great work. I was wondering if there is anywhere I can find the english translations for the songs. I love aqui estare..Here I will be...???? I am also anxious for the dvds to come out so I can catch all I missed. I had watched Betty la Fea, but I think LFMB is much better! Wish I had started watching it sooner. Thanks everyone. Gordita

Hi Gordita! If you look through the old episodes, you'll see where people have posted both the english and spanish versions of most of the song that have played on the show.

Has anyone out there purchased the show from TelenovelasRUs? I'm considering it, even without english subtitles since I have the recaps here, but I'm wondering how good the quality is. I've heard stories, but never from someone who actually bought it. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? ;o)

Any info anyone can offer would be appreciated because I'm seriously tempted to get it just for my Jaime fix until he's on something new. Thanks!!!!!
Kim P.

Sorry, boy was that unclear! If you look through the old episodes that were recapped here at this site, you'll find the songs. That's what I meant to say. Sorry... It's been a long day!
Kim P.

I don't find Jaime feminine; I find the fact that Fernando cries a lot (for a guy, IMO) kind of feminine. Of course, the tears take nothing away from his fine looks. And we just want to reach out and comfort him when he has those moments. When I used to watch GH, I liked Nikolas (Tyler Christopher, think that's the actor's name) but he was like a blubbering cryer. Big turn off. Much as I liked him, I did not feel like reaching out and comforting him, well, maybe after I gave him some tissues and he blew his nose.
Kim P, there is plenty of stuff on youtube for you to get a Fern fix……..just don’t go in there now if you don’t want to see the ending. I haven’t been missing Aldo. But they did show him, running along side Fern in that crazy preview. But as it stands now, he left her. Not that it makes any difference, with Lety still sticking to her story of loving him.

Teresa

About 8 days ago I ordered the first DVD of La Fea and the first of Alborada from TelenovelasRUs. As soon as they arrive I'll watch part of each and let you know what I think.
Ann

I liked the makeover except for the hair color. I really liked her hair black. The thing that dissappointed me about the Luigi and his parents scenes was the scene they cut out from the Mexico version. I will not say what it is in case they show it tonight.

I don't find Jaime/Fernando feminine at all. He's a manly man and not afraid to cry. Fernando is sacrificing himself so Lety can be happy with Aldo. He broke my heart once again when he started to cry writing in his diary. I wanted to wipe those tears away from those big beautiful brown eyes.

I don't find Fern "feminine," but I do find him very vulnerable, which I suppose some people might find feminine. Honestly, I just find it refreshing. He is having heavy emotions for the first time in his life, and expressing them in a way that is honest and open, but not panicked or hysterical. (At least not any more. He was pretty scary there for a little while, back in January or February, like when he went to Acapulco.)

Inasmuch as I have a "type" at all, looks-wise, Ferni isn't it. But personality-wise, oh my yes. :) Anybody who will balance an orange highlighter on his lip while discussing serious business matters, that's my guy. :)

Thankyou for the information. I have not had a chance yet to go back and read passed missed episodes, but I intend to. I am sad to see this end too. I so love the chemistry between Lety and Fernando. I think they are both excellent actors. I think it is a real talent to be able to cry like Fernando does. Especially for a guy. I have often wondered if I were an actress how i would cry at the appropriate times.

I have been recording these last episodes. I wish I could catch some things on youtube, but I have an old laptop with dialup ISP, and I cant get them to work(they run one second every 30 minutes...) It is so frustrating.

I really enjoy reading everyones comments!! Gordita

Gordita, here's something I do--I "select all" on the recap and the comments from this site, copy and paste into a Word document, and get the heck offline even though I have very high speed internet. Then I formulate my response in Word and post them, reading those few that get posted in between when I downloaded and I post. It helps, and would be even more helpful (I think) if you use dial up.

Gordita - Here is Estare. I copied it when it was posted.
I just love this you tube link.

y aun asi, me quedare, siempre a tu lado junto a tus silencios

y aun asi, me quedare, siempre a tu lado junto a tus silencios
y aun asi, te seguire, hasta que el mundo cambie y gire al reves
aquí estaré

y aun así, te cuidare, casi leyendote el pensamiento
y aun asi, me quedare, siempre a tu lado junto a tus silencios
y aun asi, te seguire, hasta que el mundo cambie y gire al reves
aquí estaré.

I would put Aldo on the bus. I hope Jaun Solar didn't lose points for playing this role. I seems most of us (not all) don't like his character. Any ways I think he has won the bus trip so far...

About the hair..I remember I saw Jaime Camil, Angelica Vale & her mom in an interview done within the week of the ending of Mexico...her hair was very dark and curly...I think maybe on the show what you are seeing is a wig...also she and Jaime Camil were very formal and stilted with each other, cause I remember from another forum all the Jaime/Angelica shippers were surprised

Hi Teresa. Unfortunately I don't have access to YouTube. It's blocked where I work, and my computer is too old and slow (I'm still on dialup) to access it at home. It kills me, because I read there's bloopers out there and everything. Maybe someday when I upgrade, but until then I'll have to consider the dvds if I want a fix.

Ann, thanks, yes I'd love it if you could let me know once you've had a chance to watch it. Thanks so much.

Sorry I haven't gotten the pics from the concert posted yet, I still had some empty frames I had to take. I'll try to get it developed this weekend.
Kim P.

Kim P, you could go to your local library and use their computers to access YouTube. I do that on weekends because my computer access is only at work
