Thanks so much K!
I'm hoping someone might want to give a brief comment after it's over for all us little/non speakers.
I know I'm among a sizable group who is dependent and grateful to all of those who help us out with the explaining of what was said!

I don't think the show did her justice. She deserved a better production that that. Scenes of her work were at breakneck speed. I would love to have seen a few minutes of her impressions, her singing, her dancing but it was too fast to enjoy. I can read a little Spanish but Angelica talks so fast that I did not get a good sense of most of what she said except about her abuela and her papi. She obviously had some issues about her father but my spanish was not good enough to understand it. I would also love to know what she was saying about her love life. If someone can shed some light on this show it would be much appreciated.

I haven't watched any of the specials since LFMB, wait I did see the one with Nurkia...but it seems Televista..Univision whatever has really been doing the Angelica Vale thing as the be all end all, but seriously folks wasn't it Jaime Camil that kept people tuning in thru the endless storylines that went nowhere? I'm not even a Camil shipper, but doesn't it seem a little strange?
Jes sayin...

I watched the Vale special but couldn't understand very much. She was beautiful and I don't really understand her past issues of not feeling pretty. It seemed to me she was always beautiful, as is her mother.
I agree I would love to see Jamie in a special!

Because of her rapid-fire speech, I missed bits and pieces her narratives, but from the accolades delievered by others, it's clear that her incredible talent in every single field has been and is well-recognized, especially as a comedian/ imitator. Even her mom said that she herself was a good imitator but nothing compared to her daughter. It seems the parents and grandparents (and great grandparents) on both sides were amazingly talented in a variety of ways, so she inherited a wide range of amazing abilities: I wonder how she would ever have the necessary time to devote to a romantic relationship. I can't imagine her giving up all the fabulous opportnities she continues to be offered.
Her mom explained that her daughter's strong personality and independence scared men off and I'm sure that's true. Though she says she has a long track record of lacking confidence, I imagine she would take no crap from anyone at this point.
I think Angelica Vale suffered on and off with significant weight problems for most of her life. She also acted and sang in the shadow of a mom who was apparently an icon in Mexico--for both her talent and her beauty. That cannot be easy as Angelica has always said how much she wished to be like and look like her amazing mom.
I agree with previous comments that the breakneck speed did not give us a chance to enjoy some of her earlier work. True--they had lot to present, but it would have been more effective with less examples and longer stretches. The speed at which the presenter spoke did not help- I thought she was the worst.

I watched the show, but felt a little like it was a combination of repeats seen over the years on Angelica, her mother, and her father, who died of cancer some 5+ years ago in a Houston hospital. Not really anything new, other than what she may be during currently..

Her father re-married after Angelica Maria and he divorced, and had more children..Possibly, there are some issues there.

Angelica Vale is a great talent and more versatile, than "mom"..Yes, she's been the shadow of mom,the sweetheart of Mexico all her life.Like others noted here, she talked way to fast for me to understand much of the little Spanish I know..

Yes, I would say the big draw for LFMB probably was Jaime Camil, but Angelica more so,as she was the lead actress in the show..They've got something going in real life,as they're always together..

I hope they will do a special on Jaime. And I agree that Jaime, with his fine performance of Fernando, is what made the show such a hit. There was some charm to the Lety character, she evoked sympathy (up to a point) and she did have her funny moments, but that little scene from LFMB at the end of the Angelica special just served as a reminder to me who stole the show and every scene he was in. Maybe TPTB knew why the audience was watching and that was why they developed Fern’s character so well? Not that that’s an excuse for the months of bad quality and the so-so ending. The creative team behind a show should be able to develop more than just one character.

Thanks so much for your description of the show. I saw it but my spanish is very limited.

I am surprised Televisa has not had a special about Jaime. I was a fan of Angelica's before the show and had not seen Jaime in other novelas. When I saw the various producers I kept thinking about how Rosy et al should have had a better plan for the extension.

I enjoyed the special. I loved seeing all the things she has done. When I started watching LFMB all I knew about her was that she had been on Sonadoras(I recognized her) I was captivated by her talent before I knew she had a famous Mom or anything else. I didn't even know "Julia" was her Mom in real life when I first started watching.(I am a real dummy) After the show last night,I am even more in awe of her talent and beauty. She is good at so many things. Singing, dancing, comedy, acting, song writing. What a shame people have gave her a hard time about weight. She would be beautiful at any weight. I wish I could have understood more of what she was saying. I would love to see more of her comedy scetches and characters. As I watch more and more spanish shows I am learning who is who so to speak. I have watched a couple of funny sketches of her on You Tube. I too wish they had shown longer segments last night. It would be so cool if her and Jaime would get together, they are such a cute couple. (Sigh.........)

I watched the special and Angelica is definitely talented in spite of the constant fixation on her weight. She's a very beautiful woman and I look forward to what she does next. I agree with the comment that in the last few months when LFMB was dragging that Jaime kept people tuning in because he was definitely the reason I kept watching. Both he and Angelica are very talented and play very well off of each other.

Everyone is correct about the speed of the pictures & segments of the show. I would have loved to really be able to more of her earlier performances. They flashed by so quickly that you could barely see them.
I didn't know that she had 2 little half-sisters. I would like to know what they said about their big sister.
She is indeed a very talented woman.

Why a special for Angelica and not for Jaime?

True, on LFMB Jaime stole the show. His character was better written and better developed. His incredibly expressive face made his portrayal riveting (maybe Lassie's barks can communicate "Timmy's in the well!", but Jaime's face can say, "In Cleveland in 1993, the roof of an electronics superstore collapsed in a snowstorm," without uttering a word!). Our tragic figure's countless months of purgatory, paying for his sins and being purified by the process, gripped us. And of course, with an audience of primarily women, the heroic male lead dominates the attention.

But here we are in July. Fernando and Lety no longer exist, that vapor has dissipated; only Jaime and Angelica remain. And of the two, Angelica is far more engaging. She has more of a history, more of a story to tell, more to share with the world. Jaime appears to be primarily absorbed with Jaime (his demeanor in the car parade in the finale speaks volumes!), which would, to me, make a Jaime special... not very special.

I think when LFMB was filming A. Vale wasn't not allowed to appear with out the full Lety gear in public...it got pretty controlling and obsessive, & kinda creepy come to think of it. Yeah really while Lety was an unsympathic babyish droll, Angelica Vale potrayed her very well. It had to be very hard to put up with all that crap for so long, plus as fore mentioned, women were just crazed for Jaime Camil and come on seriously in real life it just never would have happened, well maybe but I'd bet odds are far more in favor of hitting powerball three weeks in a row...it is possible but not probable

Unfortunately Paula H has hit it I think. Angelica is far more accomplished and has had more to offer the world at this point. Not to diminish Jaime's talent, he's got it, but she's been on the scene forever, and she is just so real. And well, Jaime is Jaime, and hasn't quite had 30 years of career, nor famous celeb parents. Ange has much more depth. When her father died she said there's no reason to be sad we should celebrate, and she kept going with her public commitments even though she was grieving. Bless her! This the public loves. Selfless.

I missed the special. Does anyone know if it is going to air again?

As for Jaime, I thought his father was a famous singer in South America?

I'm in agreement with Paula H on Jaime Camil..Totally self-absorbed and reported to have ADD..I read an article in People en Espanol when he was asked about the type woman he was looking for and his response was: "One that complements me"..Instead of it being two people complementing each other,it was and is about him.His talent is mediocre,as far as I'm concerned..

Angelica Vale could do much better than Jaime Camil..Talent wise,he can't compete with her..I've loved her talent since Sonadores days like others. She's wonderful--has a humility about her that Jaime Camil could never have.

Actually both of these people grew up with advantages..99% of people can only dream of...both come from accomplished parents & wealth. His mother was a singer or a actress or something like that and his father is a business tycoon..so neither were lacking in the advantage dept...

So you gotta remember they have been center stage all of their lives, so when you see an interview..you are seeing what they want to project...that's why they call it acting

Maybe when Jaime said "one who compliments me" he meant one he was compatible with or got along well with?
I guess I like him so much and don't see him as stuck on himself but just as super cute and sweet.
As far as the ADD, I say good for him for all he has accomplished! I'm sure it's true for both of them that coming from rich wealthy families helped them tremendously.
I always feel like the rich and famous have a giant boost when it comes to succeeding in show business.

Thanks everyone for all the tidbits on the show!

Carrie L.

I would be surprised if Jaime, with those awesome good looks of his, wasn't a little bit self-absorbed.
Look how many self-absorbed average looking men there are.
I came across a lot of those before I got burnt out on dating.
The worst ones are the ones who think they are better looking than they are. No harm in admitting you are average. Most people are.
Doesn't mean there is not someone special out there who will find you beautiful, provided you stop acting like an asshat. I think I have drifted off topic. :)

I have been watching "Amigas Y Rivales" with Angelica Vales. I am in NY and it started on 8/1/07 on channel 68 here. It's kind of funny seeing Angelica in a different role. Her name in the novela is Nyeli and she is a poor girl who works as a maid.
It comes on a 7:00 am
Does anyone else get it?
Too bad I don't have recaps.

No, Jaime's father is a weathly Mexican businessman of Egyptian decent. His mother was a brazilian singer, and she is known in Brazil, but nowhere near as famous as Angelica Maria and Raul Vale.
