La Fea Más Bella DVD release delayed??

If you pre-ordered the LFMB DVDs from Amazon or someplace else online, you've probably already heard the news - the release, which was supposed to be next week, has been delayed until FEBRUARY 19!!

I don't know why. But it's a bummer. :(

What? This is horrible!

Has anyone else seen on Amazon a DVD scheduled for release on Dec. 4, 2007 called "Una Bella Navidad Para La Fea Mas Bella"?

It looks like some kind of Christmas Special, but I can't find any additional information about what it actually is.

Thanks!
Romeo

yeah i saw the Christamas dvd too. i too tried to find info about it. this really stinks. i was so looking forward to watching the 700 minutes of lety & fernando over Christmas break.

I wonder why there was a delay. This stinks. I was looking forward to having it and watching it. I saw the Christmas DVD too. I guess that the show that aired only in Mexico that didn't air in the U.S. Will that be delayed too?

Julie, thanks for posting. Optimistically, I am hopeful that means they're going to do a dynamite job of editing it.

Jeanne

Ironically, I posted (in the Destilando section) my excitement over expecting to receive it in December just before opening my email notice from Amazon.com.

At least I can still come back to these recaps in February!

And I should have added, I'm sorry Julie, for being such an idiot. I usually don't look at the main page. Since I'm only watching Destilando now, I go straight to that section, and unless the recaps don't get posted to the right section, I don't look any further.

Bad, bad news kids; sorry to hear this. Messes up a lot of people's plans for Christmas gifts, I bet... Still, console yourselves a little in knowing that Jaime Camil's film "7 Dias" WILL be released on DVD (with subtitles!) on 11/20/07. I own the non-subtitled version and really, really like this film. Jaime steals the film with his portrayal of Tony, a soft-hearted thug. Warning: The dialogue contains a fair amount of profanity, so maybe rent it before buying to see if it appeals to you or not. As a non-native speaker, I'm not very familiar with Mexican profanity (or at least, I wasn't...) so it pretty much just washes over me, but others may be more sensitive to it, especially with subtitles.

You're not an idiot, Rhonda - I saw your comment later, but in fact I think you actually posted before I did.

As someone else already mentioned, the Christmas thing aired in Mexico but not here. I don't know anything about it - but if anyone has seen it, I would love to know what they thought of it.

Does anyone know anything about an upcoming telenovela star special I saw advertised on Univision? I saw Jaime was going to be on it, and it said something about 7pm. but I didn't understand when.

Always desperate for La Fea,
Carrie L.

I remember watching clips from the Christmas special on UTube. I can't find them now; they were probably lost in the big purge.

As I recall, it wasn't too memorable. It was like a stage show, designed for little kids. Various song & dance numbers with various members of the cast. Then a play with Prince Fernando, lonely in his castle, looking for a bride, and none of the princess candidates please him until... you get the idea. I could have the details wrong, but it was something like that.

And I recall lots of little kids. Like 1st - 5th grade. Maybe they were in the audience, and the cast came down into the audience. Or maybe they were cast members up on stage, gathered around the Christmas tree or something. I forget.

It was cute, but I think you'd have to be pretty desparate for a Fern & Lety fix, to shell out ten bucks for it.

Hmm... desparate for a Fern & Lety fix... sound like anyone you know?

Thanks Paula - I am really glad you said that. I figured there was a reason they didn't show it over here, but I thought maybe it was a sponsorship issue or something like that.

I'm pretty sure I can live without this one. :)

I found the Christmas special clips! Go to YouTube and do a search for "LFMB - 25 de dicembre" . Yes, I know the month is misspelled.

maybe 3 disks will become 4 disks, or more [wish I had a Vote on that -- the more disks/hours the better]
'hopeful' is good--lemme sit here & h-o-p-e (diffic to type w/fingers crossed, tho)
/mab

p.s. thnx for the headsup abt the delay--I wouldn't have noticed it until I placed my order.

What could possibly cause such a long delay, just a week before release?

I propose that we start a rumor: Lionsgate decided to double the length of the DVD set! (And the price as well, but that's fine.) And we all know, to edit & subtitle 1,400 minutes instead of 700 minutes - that would take lots of time, right?

Who votes for this rumor?

TCM and other online buying sites still have the release date at November 27th. I had my friend who works at a video store look it up and she said November too. I wonder what's going on?

Hmm. I wonder if Amazon is having some kind of problem with the distributor?

I'd look into this if only I knew how!

no habla espanol. nevertheless:

I went to esmas's lfmb section to see what notifications they are advertising this month about the release date and they are silent so that means to me that it is not coming out in november.
I went to univision's lfmb section and found a november notice that I can't read -- here it is with altavista's translation following, which doesn't help very much:

I went to univision's lfmb mexico chat group (foro) but they don't seem to be discussing it during the last few days (although they are buzzing about some camil & seinfeld planned project).

I guess we just wait some more. (To my ear "cuatro discos" sounds like 4 disks but not speaking spanish I don't know -- I only guess and get 40% nearly right from what I see and hear from facial expressions, body language and tone of voice as well as the sound of the words - to get a sense of what's being said by only reading is a lot more difficult for me.
I'm trying not to get too excited about the 4th disk - sometimes the bonus hours are just to show how the movie or show was made and includes some bloopers.)

In case you haven't heard by now, the "Camil and Seinfeld" thing /mab was talking about is that Jaime Camil will be doing the voice of the lead bee in the Bee Movie. That's the role that's being voiced by Jerry Seinfeld in the english version.
