Mad Polly Flint issues Pasión fans two challenges.

Two requests, anybody can play!

"First, the easy one: At the blog page Pasión photos and profiles page, we could post new significant characters we figure out, so people could go there for reference.

Second: could you make a blog page for the panoramic scene at the beginning of the show, when they play the opening credits? It goes so fast, but it is obviously full of hints about who ends up with whom. People have posted observations on various days' blog pages. If you had one blog page dedicated to the topic, we could post all comments there, and people like me who are utterly clueless, might have some hope of figuring it out."

Would one of the recappers like to take on the start of that second challenge? Have at it, y'all!

I'm not a recapper, but here are my two cents on the opening credits. Coincidentally, last night when I watched the episode on tape, I went through the credits in slow motion just for my own fun. So, I guess more than one of us are thinking along the same lines!

Possible spoilers ahead, so don't read if you don't want know--I noted Ascansio was kissing Manuela, and they looked very much like a real couple. There is a shot of Vasco with Ines, right before the final scene in front of the church with Cami coming out in her wedding gown. Vasco and Ines kiss passionately (no pun intended), and they look very much in love. This is after the shot of Vasco kissing Ursula, so maybe they do end up together??

Right before Camila comes out of the church, we see Claudio running up to Ric and giving him a big hug, like he's his dad or something. So, I wonder if Ric adopts Claudio, or something of the sort?

I look forward to reading others' take on the credits!

I guess I really don't understand the urge to analyze the beginning credits to know the end of this telenovela. If indeed it does tell us the end, then it is a spoiler.

Those who really want to know the end can read the recaps on esmas or can spend some time on utube watching any or all chapters up to the point where it is in Mexico (and it is about to end there). Personally I prefer not to know the end but to let the story develop as it will. Guessing what might happen and devising possible plot lines is fun, but knowing the end kills all the suspense (at least for me).

melinama,

this past week, I posted my almost complete cast list for Pasion over on Telenovela-World's forum. almost because I still am confused by all the pirates' names and have no idea about the names of the actors who play them.

do you want me to repost it here or in the profile and photo page as a comment also?

J.R. :)

Hi J.R.,

Could you add it to the profiles page? That would be most helpful. THANKS.

Susanna, I've gone through the opening credits several times with rewinding, and noted the things you describe. How can it be a spoiler if we saw it with our own eyes?

OTOH, it might be a spoiler because it will ruin all our presumptions when nothing turns out the way it looked on the opening sequence. There are enough paradoxes, to me, in the opening credits that they might just be misleading us or giving us a taste of all the variations of relationships we'll be seeing.

Anon 1:26, some of us are interested in analyzing because these opening credits are a little unique compared to many other telenovelas. Yo Amo a Juan Q, for example, has some of the complexities of these, but the intro does not show so many variations of relationships as this, IMO. I think that is why PaulaH asked for a separate section, so all of you who don't give a comillo about the opening credits don't have to be bothered. Some of us (me included) don't bother with youtube, either.

;-)

J. R., thanks for adding to that profile page! Way cool!

Jeanne

I agree with Jeanne (or I wouldn't have posted this). If you see it yourself, in real time with the rest of us, you can postulate to your heart's content. Spoilers are when you spill info that you learned from upcoming episodes, youtube, fan magazines, etc. If it's in the credits, it's fair game. Have at it!

The openings of Carla's shows can be tricky. If you remember the opening to Amor Real, it appeared that Matilde and AdolfoSolis would end up together, and everyone was dancing together at the ball depicted in the opening..the good and the bad. I just always look at the opening of Pasion just to see what I can spot. Sometimes that opening sequence does make me a little dizzy. In the Pasion opening , we see Claudio presenting Jimena with flowers, so who knows...maybe he likes older chicks and the 2 of them will end up together. Foreman is kissing someone...I think it's Ursula but her head is tilted back, so it's hard to tell for sure. Also, when Camila comes sashaying out of the church , she kisses a darkhaired woman...is that Manuela or Ines ???? At the very end, Ric is pretty far away from Camila and someone throws him a kid [Paco???] and he throws him up in the air a couple times. There's a guy next to him throwing a baby boy up in the air. I think Ric and Camila will end up together. Ric is the big dog on this show, and the big dog always ends up with the girl. Anyhoo, trying to make sense of what we are shown in the openinf sequebce is fun.

Well, and let's not forget when they changed the opening sequence on Fea Mas Bella and it looked like Don Fernando was going to marry someone other than our fav'....and we were all gnashing our teeth in anguish for a while. Opening credits, like the ending sequence of each episode, can be a tease, leading us to unwarranted conclusions or expectations.
So have at it, those of you who wish...and as Susanlynn says, the big dog will end up with Camilla...at least I THINK SO...

It does look like Foreman is kissing Ursuala but it's hard to tell. And at the end Camila is standing between Ric tossing the boy and Saintly. I hope Camila ends up with Ric in the end but who knows LOL.

I think they purposely tried to make the Camila-Ric-Saintly ending ambiguous. Saintly is dressed up and in the background Rita looks upset (what else is new). Ric catches a kid --maybe Vasco's-- and Camila comes out in a wedding dress and kisses Manuela first and then Ines. In the end of the sequence, she is in the middle of the two men, but neither is close enough to clearly be the husband.

In the second part of the sequence,I also see Manuela and Ascanio, Ines and Vasco, Ursula and Foreman, and Mario and Jimena all kissing. (Claudio gives Jimena the flowers in the first non-wedding sequence).

Isn't Claudio a bit too old to be adopted? He seems about 15 or 16. But probably Ric is going to be a surrogate father to him. NJSUE

Thank you, me mateys, for pitching in. I know the opening is meant to be a puzzle. It's fun to try to figure out what each piece means, and to try to separate the foreshadows from the red herrings. I'm sure it's meant to be ambiguous. And it's even more fun when we can chew on it together.

Jeanne thanked JR for adding characters to the profiles page, but I'm not seeing any additions. Is she thanking JR for the addition that is to come? Or am I lost?

I'm confused.
If the opening credits are going to tell us what happens in the story why is the old coot who keeled over on Cami in bed. He's walking down the street as big as life with Ascansio, I think.
I just enjoy watching Ricardo with kids, I think he really likes them and bonds with them.
Happy viewing!

Okay, Paula, I have now solved your confusion. I just posted my cast list on the profile/photo page.

here's my translation of the words to the Pasion theme song.

Dreams with a love
Pure, without condition
Strong, eternal as the sun
With which it draws a passion...
Free, to take the wings of the heart
To fly to where the passion nests...
The passion, it is as a restless wind
That converts itself into freedom
It is to know that there is someone else that lives
Wishing to be able to find you
It is to travel without fear among the stars and the immensity
It is to cross through the fire, to walk over the waters
To convert a dream into reality...
The passion is that immense strength
That moves all of creation
It is to know that someone is waiting for you
More away where the sun hides itself
It is to erase forever from you the word solitude
It is two souls that unite arriving so for eternity
Never will you be lacking it
Someone in whom to confide
An angel that by the hand will carry you
To discover a world of passion...
The passion, it is as a restless wind
That converts itself into freedom
It is to know that there is someone else that lives
Wishing to be able to find you
It is to travel without fear among the stars and the immensity
It is to cross through the fire, to walk over the waters
To convert a dream into reality...
The passion is that immense strength
That moves all of creation
It is to know that someone is waiting for you
More away where the sun hides itself
It is to erase forever from you the word solitude
From you lips to hear the verb to love...
You live with a love
Strong and without condition
Free and to put on the wings to the heart
free and to put on the wings to the heart
To fly to where the passion nests...
Mmmhhh
The passion

Captain J.R. thanks! You should put those words in a separate post so people searching for the lyrics online can find them! OK?

Mil gracias, Cap'n! It's the closest we can hope to come, to color-coded "Hello! My name is ___!" stickers. Thank you for the valuable help.

I always wonder where the hawt hookers came from? I mean we have like New Orleans river boat, can can outfits in some tiny town in Mexico?

Seriously it looks like it was rounds of Ecstasy for all and if you can't be with the one you love...love the one you are with.

Beckster, you crack me up! I love your recaps, too, even if I am almost always behind reading except on weekends (so I don't always post comments in the middles of a week). Thanks for doing Pasion since December and good luck with Guapos.

Jeanne

Just a small video about the opening credits.
