Guapos: Monday 2/18/08--Alas, no fear, 'tis only a flesh wound.
Hugo and Mili stand at the top of the staircase while everyone wears shocked expressions below. Alejandro, who was heading up the stairs to escort Mili, does a 180 and heads back down. Damien is excited to see that his son can walk.
Once Hugo and Mili descend the stairs, Luci rushes over to tell Mili that she wasn’t invited and better leave. Regina intercedes and says that Mili was invited by her.
Damien gushes over his son and Hugo tells his father to not make a fuss.
Perlata, the blackmail guy, assumes that Mili is Constancio’s daughter and proceeds to tell him so. Valeria overhears and she’s aghast that anyone would think Mili is part of the family. She attempts to tell Perlata that Mili is only a servant, but Connie covers and says that Mili is one of her daughter’s friends.
Regina compliments Mili and says that she’s a diamond in the rough. Al can’t keep his eyes off Mili, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Andrea.
Damien questions Hugo on how long he’s been able to walk and why he would keep that hidden. It starts to dawn on Damien that Hugo did this as a means of punishing him. He tells Hugo that he’s paid enough for the accident and Hugo tells his father that he hasn’t finished paying. Hugo then asks Roxana if Damien told her that he killed his mother. Roxana, uncomfortable, takes this opportunity to exit the situation.
Mili goes into the kitchen and tells Lina and Socorrito that her feet are killing her. Soco and Lina take this opportunity to give Mili her medallion on a new chain. Mili is touched by the gesture.
Luci tells Damien and Hugo to keep their voices down. She also tells them that to explain Hugo’s absence they will tell people he’s just returned from a long European trip. Hugo laughs at his aunt’s concern for what people think.
Al mentions to Mili how her beauty glows, but too bad it is only on the outside. She says that’s the pot calling the kettle black. Andrea walks up to them and words are exchanged between her and Mili (to be honest, I missed what was said here, so if it was important someone please fill us in). Mili extends some sort of congratulations and Al is surprised to find out she knew of the engagement. Mili ends up telling Al that she assumes he was going to use escorting her down the staircase as another chance to humiliate her like he’s done in the past. Regina overhears this.
Outside the house, Horacio corners Roxi and asks if it is true that she had their child (hijo). She says no she did not have their child (hijo), rather she had their daughter. Horacio wants to know why she never told him and she mentions another woman (I think—again this part I didn’t quite catch it all, so please help fill in details). The gist I got is that Horacio thinks that Roxi raised the child, Roxi indicates “no” and that their daughter most likely hates him. She then taunts him and tells him to look for the girl.
Regina asks Al what’s going on with Mili. Andrea interrupts and tells Regina that she and Al have once again become engaged and that they were going to announce it tonight. Al says nothing and Regina walks away in disgust. She retires to her room and tells Braulio that Al apparently doesn’t love Mili like he said and she was so hoping to use their relationship as a way to teach Connie a lesson.
Bobby is stuck across town dealing with Valeria’s cruel joke. He’s guilted into staying for dinner with the woman. However, when she suggests he spend the night, he makes his exit.
Padre Manuel is at the party and tells Mili that he’s glad to see her with Hugo.
Melina arrives at the festivities and Connie reminds her that he’s up for some political position, therefore she needs to be discreet.
Andrea tells Al she wants to announce the engagement. He isn’t the least bit interested because he’s only got eyes for Mili. Who, at this moment, it with Hugo complaining about her aching feet. Connie attempts to tell Mili to watch what she’s doing. Perlata interrupts the exchange and starts to tell Mili that he thought she was Connie’s daughter. Mili says no way, she’s an orphan without a father or a mother. Padre Manuel watches all of this, expecting Connie to admit he’s her father. Connie keeps his mouth shut.
Melina and Luci are in the study and Melina blames Luci for all the bad things that have happened to her----her husband leaving and Bobby moving out of the house. Luci asks Melina to forgive her. Melina walks out of the room with a smile as Luci goes for the booze.
Valeria starts to act up again and Connie stops her from making a scene. Meanwhile, Melina starts to go on about how the Belmontes are good to their servants, even inviting them to their parties. Connie gives her a lecture and reminds her that he asked her to be discreet.
Luci, now a couple sheets to the wind, announces Al and Andrea’s engagement. Al pulls out a ring. Mili offers the couple a half-hearted congratulations.
The clock strikes twelve….. Al is stuck with Andrea. Braulio and Regina share a toast together. The servants are in the kitchen. Mili is with Hugo, who attempts to kiss her, and she turns her head so he only gets a cheek. He gushes on, thanking her for helping him escape the confines of his room. He says it isn’t just thanks to her, but rather thanks to the way he feels for her. He is obviously going to try to formalize their relationship is some way. Sensing this, Mili tells him to not ask and she leaves.
The party is over. Bobby and Al are at their favorite club. Bobby happens to notice that Lina and Mili are there too. Lina sees the boys and she wants to go talk to them, Mili isn’t game. Mili’s out dancing and some thugs snatch her medallion necklace. She gets hysterical and Al, like Underdog, comes to save the day. He gives chase to the thugs and ends up getting stabbed. He staggers back into the club and apologizes to Mili for not being able to get her necklace back. He then faints and Mili freaks.
In the ambulance, Mili begs Al not to die. She tells him that she’ll forgive him for everything, but just don’t die. He tells her not to cry and asks why she’s so worried. Mili says she loves him and that he’s hurt and it’s all her fault. Al tells her that he loves her too and then passes out. Mili begs God to save him.
In the car on the way to the hospital, Lina pumps Bobby for personal info---like does he have a girlfriend. Bobby admits that he likes someone, but she’s really cold.
At Andrea’s old apartment, Connie scolds Melina and tells her that he’s got to appear to have an exemplary marriage. She says why don’t they get hitched. Connie’s not willing to risk the scandal of divorcing Luci. He tells Melina the best thing is for her to reconcile with Eugenio. He tells her to start tomorrow on saving her marriage. She’s obviously hurt at being rejected.
Luci and Damien rehash the whole Hugo walking stuff.
At the hospital, Mili sees a sheet draped body in Al’s room. Assuming the worse she has a break down and cries about how she’s loved him from the start. Al, is behind the room partition and hears it all. He weakly asks what’s going on and she realizes that he’s not dead, but then realizes that someone else is. She faints across Al’s bed.
Luci lets into Connie when he returns home. She wants to know why he allowed Mili to attend the party. He says it was his mother’s wish. Luci comments that Regina dominates Connie. He doesn’t like where this conversation is going and he warns Luci to stop. She then calls him Regina’s puppet and Connie slaps her. She calls him a little man and tells him that she’s not playing their game any more. Connie asks forgiveness. He asks her to help him, that with this political appointment he’ll be powerful. He mentions that it will benefit Al as well. Luci tells him she’s leaving town. She’s not worried that he’ll harm Al because she knows that Regina will protect him. Luci intends to tell Regina just what kind of monster Connie really is.
Al is OK---the wound isn't deep and he only needs some antibiotics. He tells Mili that a kiss would help cure him and she says she doesn’t kiss men who are engaged to other people. Lina gives her a thumbs up for that one.
Roxi and Damien are at the casino. He tells her he’s got no money and she says he can play gratis (she owns the club?). She talks to the bartender and says that after today, Damien will not be allowed in the club. He wonders what’s going on with their relationship and she tells him that Damien is too close to her past.
Bobby and the girls bring Al home. Al asks Mili to help him to his room, they need to talk. Lina is willing to let them go alone and she tells Mili to take all the time she needs.
Mili puts Al in bed and takes off his shoes. He asks her about the hug with Connie and she tells him it was for the child that Connie “lost”. Al also asks about Hugo and if they are novios. Mili says no, they’re friends. Al then asks if Mili knew that Hugo could walk and why she didn’t say anything. She says yes she knew, but it wasn’t her story to tell. Mili goes to leave and then turns and asks why Al wants to know these things. He says because he was jealous, he loves her. Mili then asks if the engagement to Andrea was also because he was jealous, but Al has passed out for the night.

Well, I hope that if one person is "saved" in this novela, it's Connie. He's so bad I can hardly stand him.
The subtitle of this story should be "The Saga of Endless Lies."
From lower Ala
I noticied that Mili and Val of the revenge were wearing the same earings ;-)
Constancio slapping Luci....WTH, such a coward!!! pick on someone ur own size
How long is it going to take Constancio to realize that the more he tortures Luciana, the more she drinks, therefore the more potential to screw up his image?
Thanks for the great recap; I really have trouble following some of the dialogue, especially Mili...she talks so fast!
I don't watch 5 Magnificos but I have noticed our galan on the ads...he seems to be the leader of his team, and clearly those muscles aren't just decorative, he seems to be a pretty good gymnast.
I thought Connie looked ashamed during that little scene with Mili with the padre giving him the fish eye. I especially noticed it when she said she didn't have a mother. Interestingly enough in the previews for tonight we see Mili looking at the half picture Connie gave the nun so Mili would have a picture of her mother. As the Lush said he is a cowardly little man but I'm still convinced that somewhere in that black hole of a heart he can be saved by his daughter. Didn't care much for the slap but sometime Luci just seems to ask for it. (I know it is never acceptable behavior but this is novelaland).
Speaking of Luci how much more wishy washy can she get. I'm going to Rome, I'm not going to Rome. I'm going to Rome and now telling Melania to go reconcile with her hubby. Obviously her booze filled brain can't make a decision or keep a though for five minutes. Time to send her to rehab. I also have come to think that the relationship with Damian occasionally goes to the creepy side.
Bobby redeemed himself somewhat in my eyes by handling gorda Val decently and not running for the hills immediately. He also refrained from referring to Mili as Carlitos. I'd kind of like him to end up with Lena, they look cute together and anything is better than Snotty Spice.
Thanks!
One thing I would add is that Lina was using the excuse of Alex’s being stabbed to cling to Bobby, who was kind but didn’t seem receptive.
I think when Connie was rejecting Melina’s idea that they get married that he said this little affair wouldn’t last long and that he already had a lover, a much younger one. He also said she had no one to go home to, no son, no husband. How low can you go, Connie?
I saw Alex in a circus cage doing tiger-taming. It seemed really risky and the real tiger-tamers had to step in at one point. I don’t know what the show was - was that the 5 Magnificos?

On the Juan show, we joke about the actresses all having "pechonalidad" but the guys on these programs also seem to qualify. Hope it's not ALL implants.
Re: Luci being wishy washy, I had been thinking the same thing about how Al acted last week--first he loves Mili and promises he'll stand up to his family, but he doesn't bother to investigate why Mili thought Andrea spent the night with him, and then he believes Hugo and the nun about Mili not liking him, and it's like "oh, all right, I guess I'll marry Andrea then." Just like that? Either he has multiple personalities or it's the only thing the writers could come up with to advance the plot (is that pretty typical of these novelas?).
