Pasión 2-29: "We may be assassins, but we're just following orders!"

This week and next I'm subbing for Chris. Unfortunately, I've been fastforwarding through vast swaths of Pasión lately so if this is a bit weak, I know you'll fill in for me...

Manuela is still sniffling, I would sniffle too contemplating marriage to a guy who uses a whole can of moustache wax every week. And if my dad had a dead animal's tail hanging down between his eyebrows. And he slams her around, too.

Liz, goaded by Auntie, is agonizing over the difficulty of betraying Ric without getting him mad. Auntie sez give up your pitiful unrequited love - if Ric dumps Camila he'll take another woman, and another, but he'll never take you. Cry and then start looking out for your own interests.

Ric and Mario discuss Foreman's visit. Is he really proposing to let them join Jorge and Alberto's Contraband Band? Mario thinks Jorge will now realize Ric is a pirate and will nail him after Foreman leaves; he begs Ric to skedaddle, they should go back to sea and earn the money Camila now owes because she bought the mill, but Ric won't go - he wants to reveal the Contraband Band, and also has to deal with the ED card of which I am very, very tired...

GRita really wants Saintly to ascend in the socio-economic realm and relocate them both to the palace. He's disgusted. She says, "What, you want your son to grow up to be a snot-nosed blacksmith?" Nice comment to make to a blacksmith. He leaves and Ofelia tells GRita she is an impudent, ambitious egotist. Heh.

Ursula sashays down the street with Fortunata, delighted to be sprung from House Arrest, and spots Foreman in the cafe. She goes over to say hi, though it's not proper. He says "I'd buy you a drink, but it wouldn't be proper." Bouffy (Alberto, of the animal tail forelock) asks Foreman about his dinner at Ric's and reminds him he's expected at Casa Jorge that very night. Then Ursula and Fortunata, hanging on his arms, tell him all the local gossip we already know. They stop for a drink - sherry, chocolate, and champagne. Eew.

Bouffy tells Jorge he's changed his mind and now recommends recognizing Saintly as heir. It would secure the lucrative position - one can't be sure Ursula will bear a son - and the lowly people will like having Saintly, one of their own, elevated. It might be good to get Saintly out of town for a while, though, while the Contraband Band is still doing so well - maybe he can be sent to finishing school in the big city, or be set to doing good works to keep him out of their hairdos.

Saintly shows up at the castle while Bouffy is in conference so he talks with Doña Sofia. She explains how she figured out that Saintly was of her husband's seed and says she wants him to accept the inheritance mainly because he'd be a good governor. "I appreciate your interest, but your husband raped my mother and my fiancee." "Your mother, yes, but Camila, no."

Saintly, so impactado. "Well, why did Camila say he did, then?" "No idea."

Ric tells Mario they have to check out some more of Jorge's henchmen in the continuing push to crack the Contraband Band. Gonzalo and Mateo, for instance. "We need to infiltrate, but they won't accept our guys." "How about Ascanio?" "He says he won't help because you haven't told Camila your true name." "Well, I have now, she was upset but she understands."

They see Saintly at the door, he's come to talk with Camila, "You can be present" he tells Ric. Mario isn't invited, though.

They go in. Saintly isn't too happy about Ric's presence but Ric won't leave -- until Saintly gets all emotional about hating his dad. "I hate him, but hating isn't Christian, I must pardon him," and cries etc. so bleghy to guys, so Ric slips out and paces in another room, wondering what's going on, which is: "Did my father rape you?"

Camila's "no" gets Saintly all happy and crying on her shoulder. "But why didn't you tell me?" "He threatened my dad, and by the time I got back you were married to MY SISTER and what was the point of bringing up old stuff?"

Meanwhile, upstairs, Liz tried to get Clotilde (why does she always have her hand up in the air like those ladies on the commercials shilling for laundry detergent?) to spy on this super secret conversation; Clotilde demurred, afraid of getting fired, so Liz went herself. She is stooping at the door, hearing everything ...

... but then Jimena comes along and catches her eavesdropping and shouts, "This is how you found out about the Ed card!!!" and there's a little tussle, Jimena knocks Liz over and calls her a witch...

... Ric comes along, and Jimena rats Liz out, and then Saintly comes out and wants to know what all the fuss is but Ric, frostily, refuses to share the gossip...

Things calm down. Ric asks Camila what the super-secret conversation was about. She tells him. He asks if Saintly will now accept the inheritance. "I dunno -- oh, don't make that sulky face, my dear!" They make up ...

...while Liz, and her dolly and Auntie, back in their bedroom, are sure they'll get thrown out now! Auntie suggests they go live at Jorge's house. "Oh Auntie, I don't want Ric to think I betrayed him." "He betrayed you first..."

Camila and Ric walk and wonder if it's true that Liz spilled the ED card story to Bouffy. "If the card had not been destroyed, then why hasn't it surfaced yet?"

The conversation moves on to Foreman. Camila hopes Ric won't accept Foreman's proposal that he join the Contraband Band.

"But how am I going to make money?" [I LOVED this conversation. --Ed.] "I don't know, dear, but not by robbing, not by contrabanding, and not by piracy." "You don't understand me." "Yes, I do - all you know how to do is murder and steal."

! ! ! ! ! !

He's indignant. "Well, I don't do it for fun, it's just my job. Yes, we're delinquents and assassins, but we are only following orders..."

! ! ! ! ! !

"... as soldiers do. They may be considered heroes while we're villains, but the job is the same."

Now on to Ofelia and Justo, she's saying yet again that she doesn't want Saintly to accept the inheritance because money corrupts and what if he turns out like his father?

Saintly enters and wants to know: "Why did you never tell me that Jorge did not rape Camila?" Justo: "Because I was a coward and Jorge threatened us." "You should have told me! I would have sought her throughout the world." "God willed it this way." Saintly is not at all appeased by this and briefly disses God. Ofelia tells him not to lose his faith.

It's time for dinner at the Big House. Jorge compliments Foreman: "I didn't think a guy with your ... interests ... could be a gentleman." "In our profession, you find all kinds." "Are you affiliated with the English Armada?" "We consider ourselves to be an inferior branch, we have our own ships but we don't get paid, so we have to seek our own compensation."

The reason Alberto wrote to Foreman and invited him now comes out: "The place we have to take the cargo is too far away and therefore too dangerous. We'd prefer that the merchandise be collected closer." "OK, I know a place half a day's journey from here, you can leave the booty and I'll have some guys pick it up." Jorge is surprised that there is a suitable spot so close: "In my lands?" "No, in the adjoining realm, Salvatierra." "Who would pick up the booty?" "People I trust." "Filibusters?" "Yes." "The ones that interfered with our operations?" "'fraid so - they were bored and nervous and needed something to do, it won't happen again."

Back to Ofelia and Saintly, who says he'll go see Jorge tomorrow. Ma is worried about Rita: "Sometimes I think there's a demon in her body." "No, ma, it's my fault, I haven't been a good husband since Camila returned." "We're all at fault - we should have counseled you to wait."

Saintly says he hates Ricardo, there is something hidden inside him. "But look how good he is, he paid for the mill..." "No, he didn't, it was Camila's money, he's an adventurer." "Do you still want Camila?" "I will never stop wanting her."

STRAW POLL: How many of you think Ric will die and Saintly will get Camila? How many of you think, instead, that Saintly will die? Both? Neither?

Foreman says there is a plague of contraband in New Spain. He suggests that Jorge is well-situated to fix all necessary documents. "It's risky." "Not as risky as stealing the stuff." They want to rob while the robbing's good, they sense the golden age of thievery is coming to an end. [Never --Ed.]

After leaving, Foreman tells Bouffy that he finds Jorge fearful. "No, he's cautious - he has to think of his prestige, but he'll go with your plan in the end." Big ending: "Tell me, is Ricardo a pirate?" The curtain falls.

I fear for the safety of the novela creators if Ric bites it - I can just see all you rabid Ric fans heading down south with torches and pitchforks! (Mind you, I'm no better; my stomach turns a little every time I see Ursula batting her lashes at Foreman.) Heck, I think I'd come along just for the fun of a good unruly mob. ;D

Normally, I've got really strong opinions about how I want a show to go, but this is one time I just can't decide what would be best! (Or likeliest.) Camila ultimately being returned to her first love would be oh-so-romantic, but how much would it hurt her to lose Ric now? And if Santi goes, who'll be the kindly taxman who endeth Jorge's reign of impotent terror? If we could just find Santi a nice girl to finally get him over it properly...

Did Saintly actually say he would have searched more for Cami if he knew she hadn't been raped (implying that she wasn't worth it if she had been raped)? What a guy.

I think Ric would have to die for Cami to end up with Saintly since she is way too in love with Ric, and I don't think they would kill Ric, so I'm sure Ric will get Cami and who knows with Saintly.

I like that there are votes already! Everybody cast your ballot, who kicks it? Well GRita of course that goes without saying, and Bouffie and Jorge (unless he gets rehabilitated) but let's stick with the two heroes...

Yes, Saintly did say he'd have tried harder to find Cami - his justification though was that he DIDN'T search because he thought she'd killed herself and he'd have known she wouldn't have done that if he'd known she hadn't been raped. That was so lame and convoluted it made me tired to think about writing it so I left it out.

Well, I take a "Pollyanna" view of novelas, so I like as neat and happy an ending as possible. But there are some people who in my opinion, MUST go! Rita is number one, followed by LaFont and Tia Fran (I can't stand her!). Jorge can go either way at this point. Sometimes he shows a genuine fondness for Sofia, and I think to myself "maybe he's not that bad". Even though she is a horrible person, I would like to see Lis rehabilitated. She seems to have a liking for Santi, and she once said that his hands were like Ricardo's. On his part, he is very kind and protective of her. I wouldn't mind seeing them together. I know- I am WAY too soft and sentimental. Hello? That's why I watch telenovelas in the first place!

"Did Saintly actually say he would have searched more for Cami if he knew she hadn't been raped (implying that she wasn't worth it if she had been raped)? What a guy." from 3:38 anon WHAT A GUY is right, no matter what his lame reasoning.

I just assumed it would be Ric in the end but with all this talk, I'm beginning to think it may be Saintly ... not my choice :o(

OK, my vote is Ric & Cami at the end. My reason is simply that Fernando has top billing and Sebastian is a supporting actor. You can't buck the studio system. I can't really divine all the convolutions it's going to take to get them from here there, but that's what telenovelas are for, isn't it?

As for "just deserts" I really hope the directors give us the satisfaction of long-drawn-out justicio. Death, torture, the fires of hell. Whatever! I wanna see 'em suffer: grrRita, Tia, Lis, LaBouff, and the Don.

Oh, and Melinama, GRAÇIAS. For the recap. I was so excited about voting, I quite forgot myself.

HaHa~~~So glad to see that you have not lost your rapier wit, Melinama. Thanks for that stellar recap. And you are so right that ''the golden age of thievery'' will never end. In answer to your poll, I don't think that either Ric or Saintly will die, but if one must...I think that it will be Saintly. As I've stated before, Ric has top billing and a bigger...salary ...so he wins the girl en fin. Perhaps Saintly , like Adolfosolis in Amor Real, will sacrifice himself so that Camila can be with her Onetruelove...which is NOT Saintly....it's RicRicRic. It's all Ric , all the time. I loved the little tussle in the hallway between Jimena and Sneaky creepy Lis. Jimena has her eye on you, Lis...be afraid..be very afraid. Even that suckup Clotilde is worried now. The previews looked interesting. Can't wait for Monday's episode.

Hee Hee Hee..
Yep from the first whine on..Saintly was asking for it. If Rita continues to live (which I doubt), well then Saintly would no doubt opt for death. Otherwise, he'd opt to get in Cami's knickers. I pick Ric for Cami as Jeez, I mean Cami & Saintly had like one good memory, then he wandered off, then Don Jorge, the impotant impaler intervented, then Cami got gang banged by pirates, then Don Timmy (who I bet smelled of decay, and even thou she didn't have to sleep with Don Timmy, it wasn't really good times), then she comes back to Rita/Saintly. So I think their would be lots of baggage. Besides those Thanksgiving dinners would be really awkward with his "new side" of the family. Ric gets my vote.

Beckster~~~~Nice to ''see'' you here !!! How's ''Guaypos'' going ?

Great recap, Melinama,
In your straw vote, I must say I feel that telenovela's, like fairy tales, always end up goody twoshoes.
I think Ric and Cam will live happily ever after and Saintly will find a wonderful woman (Lis?)and live happily ever after and all the townspeople will love him as their new governor.
As for the baddies, I hope they suffer, suffer and then die.

Alice

Santi with Cami...ugh, I hope not. He's got a weak streak that's strong and long. Instead of mooning and mewling over his lost love he should deal with his problem at hand, GRita. Yes, GRita simply must bite the dust, and the sooner the better. My vote is that Santi should die and, as MadBess suggests, if he wants to redeem himself by sacrificing himself for Cami and Ric then fine.

I wonder if we will have any of Carla Estrada's famed public executions in this show? I would put Bouffy at the top of the list for this.

Wonderful recap Melinama. I love the title, how appropriate and timely. Thanks for filling in!!

Thanks, enjoyed your "out of their hairdos" comment, along with the others.

The conversation with Ric & Cami discussing future career options is very interesting. Of course she's in complete denial about the reality of their options, but that she sees Ric as a murderer and thief is revealing. The writers are showing more and more of a wedge in their differences in how they view life. So, she and Saintly would pair up more easily, but I have a feeling that Ric will be the one to keep her. I'm not sure if that's a good thing, but being a novela novice, this is out of my league.

Top on my torture/death list would be Buffy, followed by a lesser evil, Tia, Grita, Liz and Jorhey. Buffy is pure evil, Tia had someone killed to get her way and continues to lie and push her agenda. Grita is a manipulator and coward also, while the world revolves around her. Liz really knows how to play the 'ciega' card and is driving this whole ED card mess, while doing it in the name of 'love' for Ric. Then Jorhey's hands are just as dirty as Buffy's for killing, stealing, etc.

The only happy ending I'm hoping for is that MMM Mario marries the brave, smart and lovely (though chismosa) Jimena...
jb-Iron Jack Cash

I think Mario with Jimena is a given. After all their tantalizing flirtations (and more to come I'm sure) it would be too, too wretched not to have this delightful pairing. I'm also hoping for Manuala and Ascanio to get together for the Aw-Shucks couple.

Ric should think about reviewing his job description [which currently reads like that all tune about ''muggers, lovers, and thieves''] before working on his resume....best to stick with the ''don't ask/don't tell'' plan you've been following. And, Camila, wake up and smell the coffee....you knew that Ric was not a choirboy when you married him.

I think Ric will get Camila. If he doesn't, it would be like Aldo winning Lety . . .

I don't think Ric will die of course Santi would love it if that happened to finally try to get Camila back but I think that Camila has been so fearful of something bad happening to Ric if he returned to pirating and it very well could if he gets caught. And if Ric dies I will be one ticked off fan LOL. Oh and looking at the previews for Monday's show looks like Ric and Camila broke their pact unless that was just a dream.

Ninak, I don't think that we can compare aldo and lety and camila and santi??? From the start, lety was destined to be with fernando. In this novela, I really believe that camile was destined to be with santi, even though I was told differently. I have only watched about 5 spanish soaps(all were in the past year) and all had the same beginnings. They show two people in love and then they are separated by fate, whether through lack of communication and the gossip by others,or like Camila being kidnapped. If we go by the scripts, camila and santi get back together in the end, even if Ric is the most popular actor. I would compare with La fea, if she stays with ric (an aldo) because she initially was in love wtih santi; however, in the beginning I would have wanted this; but now I want ric and camila to be together. I put my vote on sanit finding another woman and runs the town in a christian like fashion. Maybe even helps camila and ric with the ED card. Maybe he becomes a Jorge and has to have the first rights with Camila when they remarry under rics real name ROTF.

Can someone tell me what the ED card is. I know there was a letter from a doctor saying that timotid could not possibly have consummated the marriage, but what is the card? Also someone said that sofia is a terrible person. If that is jorge's wife, I thought she was usually doing good for people?? No??? Another question. When the mailman brought camila's letter and her sister ripped it up, will that just be a loose end and never found out??

Anon 3:25, the ED card and ED letter are the same thing, the letter saying the marriage couldn't have been consummated.

I don't think anyone said Sofia is a terrible person. Maybe they were talking about her husband Jorge?

Finally, I have been totally spoiled and there are no loose ends in this. Some plot points may take a lot longer to be resolved than you'd like, but they will be.

Anon 3:22, I have seen novelas where one (or both) of the main couple are in love with someone else at the beginning (usually not as strongly as they will be in love later, which I think is Cami's case). Even if that were not the case, there is no way FC doesn't get the girl, so not to worry :-)

melinama, thanks for the amusing recap.

Cami Supporter

Melinama...loved those !!!!!!!!!! paragraphs. Along with your "get.a.job." analysis of another character in another novela. The style is great.
And I agree with Susanlynn...Ric will get Camila because he has a bigger....role.... was that the word?

Great recap Melinama! I loved your description of the guy Bouffy wants to set up with Manuela (lol)!!

How in the heck can Auntie say that Ric has betrayed Liz? Did I miss something? She is right in that Ric would never marry her so Liz needs to move on. I too would like to see Santi hook up with Liz. At least she isn't harpy like Grrita. Speaking of Grrita, kudos to Ofelia for finally saying to her what I believe everyone has been thinking.

I absolutely cheered when my girl Jimena caught Liz eavesdropping. What would have been better is if the maid did go listen in instead of Liz. Jimena has had that nosy body maid's number since day one. That would have been sweet!

I was glad to see Ric show some class in letting Santi & Cami talk alone even after Santi said Ric could stay to listen. Heavens know what his reasoning was for leaving the room.

I don't think Ric is going to bite the big one nor will Santi. If someone is going to bite the big one, hopefully it will be Bouffy, Auntie Fran, the Nosy Body Maid or even Grrita. I can't think of four more deserving candidates.

Thanks for the funny recap! Of course, Ric and Camilla will stay together. Didn't something similar happen in Amor Real with the main characters?

As for Grita.....she definitely needs to go! Saintly can find someone else. Mario and Jimena should live happily ever after, and Ascanio and Manuela will hopefully also live happily ever after! Don't really care about what happens to Ursula.

Can't wait for Monday night's show!

Wow~~~Tia certainly let Lis have at right on...''Ric will NEVER take you''---muy harsh. I actually felt sorry for Lis for about one nanosecond. Tia needs to pay for being such a miserable person.

I have no idea (or care) what's going on with SG personal life. I think the character Cami is barely tepid and unconvincing as a heroine. That seems to be a mixture of the writing and the actress.

OK,I have had to delete two of the comments here that violate our "no personal life spoilers" rule. Y'all are probably new to the site and so you haven't seen (from other novelas) that I don't allow discussion of actors' personal lives or showbiz gossip here because it wrecks the shows for some people. This is the same reason I don't allow spoilers (usually not even the "I know what's coming next" variety) - most of our folks do NOT want to know what's coming next. So in future - let's confine our complaining and gossiping to what we see on screen. THANK YOU ALL.

Thanks, Melinama, for the very well written recap. I feel that, either I'm losing my marbles, or that there are a lot of continuity errors and/or bad editing going on. I thought Bouffant introduced Foreman to Jorge as a "scientist" to protect Jorge from Foreman knowing he was involved in the robos de plata. But the next meeting (I think) between the three contains very frank references to planned dastardly deeds. When did the cat get out of the bag?

I definitely vote for Ric to get the girl. I don't know if Saintly will die, but I'm pretty sure he won't live happily ever after with GRita. Maybe she'll die and a new character will be introduced for Saintly. Someone else earlier posted that they thought Cami would raise Grita's baby, and I suppose that could happen. And I'm surprised Cami hasn't shown up preggers by now. Usually novela heroines are fertile Myrtles.

And, yeah, Saintly's comment that, if he'd known Jorge couldn't do the deed with Cami, he'd have searched forever, was pretty dumb, although I accept that it could mean he'd thought she committed suicide. But, another continuity error, because he did continue to hope she'd return for months. So, why would her continued virginity mean he'd have waited longer?

I too vote for Ric winding up with Camila, and agree the beginning of AMOR REAL was similar and Fernando wound up with the heroine.

I think Saintly is on the road to becoming less saintly. Didn't he diss God in the last episode? How saintly is it to knock Ric and say he think he's an adventurer, without his knowing anything specific? And he certainly looked JEALOUS when Paco talked about Tio Ric and his horses and his eventually riding one. I think Santi is going to become Don Jorge's heir and turn into a not very nice person, resulting in Ric getting the girl.

This is a little off Melinama's topic, but I noticed that La Paloma was asking for names for the calendar. Chip'n'Dale are known as Pancho & Crispin. Although which is who I couldn't begin to guess. We have neighbor boys named Dennis and David who both answer to the name of Twin. Nobody can tell them apart. They are nowhere near as cute though. And our boys at the forge are starting to talk a little. Even their voices are identical.

Hmmmm~~~Agnes~~I , too, know identical twins named Dennis and David !!! Small world. David is a banker, and Denny manages a factory that makes baseball uniforms !! Maybe they would pose with Our Twins at the forge for the calendar.

Wooohoo! Melinama's back!!!!

There's plenty of precedent for the heroine's original BF to not end up becoming Mr. Heroine. In Heridas, which is the first telenovela ENDING I've ever seen, Miranda started out with Fabrizio (I think that was his name?), but he ended up marrying her middle sister instead, and Miranda ended up with Guy Ecker. (I liked Fab better, but it was obvious that that was never going to happen.)

I don't think either Ric or Santi will die. I just can't see Cami going back to Santi in any case. I think she's outgrown him in too many ways. Even if becoming señor eventually makes him a wiser person, I just can't see it.

I really do love the idea of Santi + Lis - but that assumes that she'll get over Ric and find some other motivation for living. That seems pretty iffy right now.

Maybe Lis and Santi team up for petty reasons, then fall in love, and then BOTH reform and become nice? Would that be too weird?

It's obvious, though, that Cami has a problem with the way Ric makes his living. How is this going to be resolved? What else can he do for a living? Real estate??

I miss Claudio. I hope he comes back into the story soon!

Anon 3:25 - about someone saying Sofia is a horrible or terrible person - I am pretty sure that Tani was referring to Lis, not Sofia!

I have been away all weekend in an intensive Spanish class in Española, really. Isn't that a great name. So to catch up quick. I believe I was the person who suggested the guapos calendar months ago when Destilando was still running but I like Paloma's bringing the idea back to life with Pasión figures added in.
As for the voting: I vote early, often and forever for my personal favorite Ricardo. He's the hero with enough spicy badboy with a heart of gold. Santi is too guapo to die and way too saintly. I think he was Camila's early innocent love, unconsummated and they have both changed. Anyway she won't truly forget that he married her ugly sister when he gave in to the nagging of the family and chose to accept that she wouldn't come back, after only a few months. He's not interesting enough to spice up her life now that she has seen Pareee, uhhhh, I mean Ric, I mean really seen him... makes me feel a little dizzy to dwell on this.

I am a Camila fan and don't think every heroine should be Adela Noriega or Lucero or their clones although I love both of them. I am happy to see a different sort of heroine and I think this role is slowly maturing and developing.

There used to be a rumor that it was originally legal to kill someone in Texas if they needed killin'. My list for resurrecting that law here in Telenovelaland is a rather long one.

...And hence the saying, ''Don't mess with Texas.'' Cheryl, I felt a little dizzy while reading your comment about Camila really ''seeing Ric.''... Yes, how are you going to get them down on the farm after they've seen RicRicRic ??? He is a hard act to folloe..a hard habit to break. P.S. When I look at Foreman with that long, straight platinum blonde hair , I can't help but think of Donatella Versace.

Mad Bess...
Guapos is well my kind of TeleNovela, overacting and stupid plot lines and the best cliche, after 18 years, now we wonder what happened to the missing grandkid, hey I guess people get busy and time slips by.

I agree with you, Ric is an awesome piece of piracy.

Beckster, I miss you, glad you are checking in. I think Claudio has been gone cause his mom (Carla) decided he had to go to school or something. I really like Camila - for one thing, she looks awesome in these dresses, absolutely fabulous, for another thing, I like her pale, classic beauty and her reserve. I never believed in Hipolita (Lucero) she had an innate modernity I couldn't get past. Adele was so limp, I never wanted her for my heroine. Camila is not so bright, true, but she is loyal and she's warming up.

Beckster~~~''Ric is an awesome piece of piracy''~~~This is why I miss you so much...You have such a way with the words. You write stuff, and I say to myself ''Wow!!! That is exactly what I was thinking !!!''

Melinama~~~Yes, Claudio is probably in first period algebra class even as we speak.

Melinama I agree with you about Camila. I love her too because she's coming out of that thinking of black and white and starting to see that things are grey and flawed like my man Ric. Let's hope Camila learned about making rash decisions now. And LOL CherylNewMex how can Camila go back to Santi after she's "seen" Ric. Once you've had a pirate you can't go back LOL. Looking forward to tonight's show.

You all are killing me with the comments from Sunday nite (lol!). Now I'll never be able to took @ Foreman w/o thinking of the Donatella Versace reference (I'll be expecting Naomi Campbell to strut around now in his scenes...lol). I too miss Claudio & hope he is brought back. And it's not "once you had a pirate you'll never go back" but "once you had Ric you'll never go back" (his love scenes w/ Camila..OMG!!). I wholeheartedly agree w/ Melinama re: Cami. And I wish I had her figure (lol). Cami is loyal to those she loves & I've also noticed her inner strength from day 1. If that ED card pops up out of nowwhere, she's gonna need it more than ever. I can't see her w/ Santi now. He can pine all he wants for her but she only has eyes for Ric.

Lookin forward to tonight's episode.

Hola! 1st off: thank you SO much for the Thurs/Fri. recaps...nodded off again & missed way too much. My head is spinning with all that is happening & what will be coming down the pike.

My vote is for Ric & Cami but we all know that it will be a long & torturous path to "Happily Ever After." I bet Santi will eventually be freed from Grasping Grita, Ascanio will provide a pleasant surprise (still waters run deep, my mom always advised), & Good will trump Evil by the end. The fun lies in the way we get there!

I definitely think we have to get this calendar off the ground. Isn't there some charitable organization that needs a great fund raising idea?

:-0

Just remember, if you want to read the wit and wisdom of Beckster, please remember to tune in each week at the Guapos recaps, where we have been lucky to snare her snarky sensibility.

Feeling that Cami is not totally wrong in wanting Ricardo {her husband}to do some other kind of work, I been thinking how about import and export business. He could occassionally take sea journeys with the in-law-kids (Paco, Santi's little one, and his own... set of twins!)

OF COURSE Ricardo and Camilla will make a life together! She already told Santi that she is no longer that young nieve girl he fell in love with; she wants and needs Ricardo for 'so many reasons'; she has forgotten how much in love they two (Santi and Cami) were. The hard headed Santiago may need to actually look into Ricardo's eyes and accept the woman is gone for good!

Finally! the television said what I been sayin to the screen: Take everybody and go to Iguana. THANK You MMM Mario, ..."just one of the many reasons I love you".

But I am sensing that Foreman now knows Ri-car-do's weak spots. And why was Iguana such a publicized safe haven ANYway! Do they have the fort built yet?!

Here's my idea for a resolution to gRita. She goes to Camilla and tells her how much she hates her and will show her proof. Then she has the baby and in a weakened state, she goes to retrieve the 'I'm a slave, help me' letter. And the tree falls on her.

Meanwhile, Tia goes on the search party to find gRita and the fallen tree rolls over her and traps her....hanging over that swift water fall. There was a water fall, right?

I don't remember a waterfall, but if there isn't one, that's no problem. If the tree can magically throw itself onto Fran after falling on gRita, surely it can transport the two of them to the nearest falls, cliff, or giant mutant scorpion pit too. It's the Magic Tree of Vengeance!

Oh, I realize now that you were joking. Tia Fran would never join a search party with those icky people from the village. :)

LOL!!! Tree of Vengeance! How about if Grita digs up the buried "save me" letter (in a moment of pregnant panic), Tia Fran happens to be strolling by & sees it. Then the 2 venomous vixens fight for possession of the said letter and tumble into the street, only to be run over by Whoresula's carriage which proceeds to tip over & kills them all. The horses break free from their traces & run over La Bouffant & Whorehey which they never saw coming because they were ogling the prostitutes' heaving bosoms.

How does that sound?

FANTASTIC! I like it, I like it! The falling over coach, the hooves beating into Bouffant, all of it I like.

As long as you can promise that the horses won't be hurt, it sounds good to me!

Oh, no, the horses would never suffer. They might be frightened of La Bouf's hair-do but they will be very careful to plant just one hoof directly in the middle of their foreheads. Ric would settle their nerves with his soothing voice & killer dimples. He would set them free in a field of daisies in gratitude.
;-)

You are a genius. The daisies are a perfect touch!

Not sure if this has been noted before, but if you look closely at the opening montage, you will see Camila coming out of the church in a wedding gown, followed by Ric's padrino in his red suit. Obviously, he is there to oversee that Ric and Camila are properly re-married using Ric's correct name. Ric and Camila will be together at the end.

One hoof in each forehead?
No, then not a horse hit. I want more vi-o-lence in my retribution. Whoresela was carrying that basket of scorpions...and quick as a swarm of bees, they attack the fallen bodies. ...the safe untouched horses are down the road apiece. :)

down the road apiece in the daisy field. !

Anonymous, because there are so many dead people walking in that opening montage, I decided that must have been the cast wrap up party. I am waiting hopefully for that alley way fight with the explosion behind the sword fight. Hope its not one of Ri-car-do's ships. If its the palace exploding thats okay because Santiago is not planning on moving there anyway.

the horses are running free in the field of daisies, after neatly placing their hooves on the foreheads of Jorge y Buffy... the basket of scorpions has spilled on the unfortunate ladies, Tia Fran, Lis and Whore-sula.. but what happens to Clotilde? She deserves something awful to happen to her. Her meddling deserves at least some fire ants or something...

Perhaps Clotilde's own gossip can somehow be her own downfall. Like maybe Lafont starts paying her to bring info to him, and then he catches her spying on him as well and kills her!

Probably not... I don't think women in telenovelas get killed for being nosy. Remember in Destilando, Elvira was dismissed and given a decent severance, while what's her name, the younger one at the CRT who was actually getting paid for her treachery, was simply fired.

Ah, yes, the reprehensible Clotilde. I like the fire ants idea. Here we go: she's following Tia Fran, witnesses the carnage but tries to steal the letter AND Whorehey's moneybag. Then she trips, face first, into the fire ant hill. Her fluttery little hands are flying fast & furious but she can't get them off. A scorpion moseys by & bites her ankle. The End.

Oh, Ric & I are in the daisy field with the horses, riding off into the sunset because I'm WAY smarter than Cami. Brains beats beauty every time.

Oh....I am cracking up!!! I LOVE the alternate endings....they are hilarious! You all are sooo funny and have great imaginations!!

I don't know why you people keep wishing Francisca, Rita, Ursula and others onto those poor, innocent fire ants and scorpions? what have those animals ever done to you (grin)?

I think a lot of these people will bring their own endings on themselves - I'm still in favor of Rita getting in a huff and stomping off and either falling off a cliff or going into labor and dying. The baby might survive or not, depending. Ursula ... ends up married to Foreman and whisked off to live piratically ever after on an island ... with no other men around. Francisca will alienate everyone and end up in a convent (and not one of the nice ones where you only pray and do embroidery - she'll be scrubbing floors).

I don't want Grita to die in childbirth. That seems a whole lot of guilt for the child to carry around, even there are members of the family who congratulate them on the sly...(I'm kidding...mostly).

Ursula would make a great pirate wench. But I think she would be more of a pirate queen. She would give Foreman a run for his money. Possibly literally.

Clotilde + fire ants + wandering scorpions = satisfying ending for me.

There are a lot of anvils to fall. Fortunately in this show we have some blacksmiths handy and their anvils very close by...

Speaking of blacksmiths, Mad Maggie you can gallop out of the daisy field with Ric, but then I get Ascanio, San Fernando's Next Top Apron Model, for myself.

Tree of Vengence is a tough act to follow, but I'll try. After a heavy rainstorm, gRita checks that the rain did not uncover the buried letter. The rain did erode an 8' sinkhole. gRita falls in, but she's not injured. Due to her gritas for help (remember she has well-developed yelling muscles, built by daily practice), she causes a cave-in of the sink-hole banks, burying her alive. Then the flash flood from the rainstorm comes through, and it washes her body out to sea, never to be found, the fate she wished on her angelic sister.

Days later, Tia Fran is out at on the coast in a small boat. She's going to bribe a doctor to replace the ED letter. Something bumps the side of the boat. Tia Fran sees it's gRita's body. Filled with disgust, not by the decay, but by the thought of being so close to foul peasants, she barfs overboard. The smell distracts the shark that has been nibbling gRita's fingers. It leaps out of the water and consumes skinny little Fran in one bite, just as greed and treachery had consumed her throughout life.

I'm all for it, but I'm betting your shark will need an antacid after that meal.

For all you ladies out there that LOVE Fernando, today,Mon. Mar. 3rd, is his 42cd. birthday. Damn, the man is so fine!!!! Dios, i want to move to Mexico and become a stalker!!! LOL!

I found the paragraph that said that sofia was a bad person. Read on, cause I haven't had that impressio of her. At least yet.

Ah!! I see what you mean, it depends on where you put the emphasis on who is the bad person. I can see where it is liz now.

Hi. In regards to your poll,I think
the letter will come into play, and
when eventually your "Saintly" takes over,he'll be able to rectify
things for Camila,etc..I guess,then
"Curly" would have to die or something,in oredr for him to come into power, right? Hmmmm. The real question is,...Will any scalp
"Eddie Munster"? P.

Santi shouldn't be the one to bite the dust (I blame that crack about only going after Cami if she hadn't been raped squarely on the writers; Rulli probably waved his script at them and said "you're kidding, right?!"). The poor guy hasn't had a break since day one on this novela. Since he got skewered, it's just been one bad event after another for him. He deserves to make it out alive--which means he probably won't.

I don't want Ric to die, but since he's lived by the sword (though it wasn't his fault it got that way), he should be the one to die by it--and very heroically. but he's the big hero of Novela Land--which means he'll probably make it out alive instead of Santi.

GRita should be smashed by a runaway carriage (an expensive golden one) and leave Santi to raise their child.

The tiny animal on top of LaFont's head should suddenly wake up and claw him to death in its confusion. It's good that Lis is blind; if she could see that thing, she'd bash it with her cane.

Well, yeah, Whorehey should go down in flames, while Whoresula should find that one good man who changes her around. I wouldn't mind it if Fran joined the ranks of the dead as well.

It'll be interesting to see what characters do avoid the chopping block. The answers may end up surprising us... :)

Melinama, that was a fabulous recap. I loved everyone's suggested retribution for the evil characters.
I'm voting for Ric and Saintly both to live, with Ric and Cami ending up together. Cami has outgrown her innocent love for Santi; she's given her heart to Ric. He didn't scorn her even though she was raped by pirates and he feels a real bond with her.
Santi can have another chance at love, because gRita will surely suffer some ghastly fate. She doesn't deserve to live in the palace or wear fine clothes--too mean and selfish.
I bet Lis will be on the alert for Jimena from now on. That girl knows how to bring it.
And thanks for Pancho and Crispin's real names, as well as all the other ideas for a guapos calendar.

Stephe, "The tiny animal on top of LaFont's head should suddenly wake up and claw him to death in its confusion. It's good that Lis is blind; if she could see that thing, she'd bash it with her cane."

I'm dyin' over here. You are too funny!

So today is birthday plus 42 for TBLMOE, huh? Well, 42 is the answer to life, the universe, and everything, after all.

As for our calendar, FC is a shape-changer - he has so many different looks. So why not have four different FC looks, for four different months. Different looks:

Thanks everybody for kind comments. And hilarious ones. I laughed out loud at Seven Seas' comments. I think if Ric dies heroically in the last act it wouldn't violate his top billing. Those deathbed speeches are pretty long and dramatic. Not that I want him to die. I'm just sayin' top billing does not have to preclude death.

So Maggie with Ric, MinMN with Ascanio, Aldo from "La fea más bella" with Camila.

Or RicRicRic with Liz, Santiago with Cami and Jorge sends them on a trip. (Fer's idea on the chat but then he asked us to see the end)
