Pasion April 8, 2008 All heck breaks loose near Garbancillo
* Guard looks into the coach, Alberto introduces himself. Guard recognizes him; he says he is with friends. Guard accepts the story and lets the caravan move along. As the caravan moves, Alberto mentions that he has nothing against Rico or his crew, and then comments about Cami and her pregnancy. Rico tells him to "shush".
* Jimena is drinking a cup of tea in front of Ofelia's house. Ascanio walks to her and asks what she's doing there? Jimena explains about losing her job at the hotel and then tells him about her confrontation that afternoon with Justo and Santo after she left church. Ascanio is curious why the confrontation. Jimena says because Rico was in the church. Ascanio is impactado to hear Rico actually returned! Jimena explains he came back for Cami, but gosh darn it, we don't know where she is. Jimena asks Ascanio if Santo mentioned anything to him at all. Ascanio says no. Jimena wonders if he can seek help with Manuela to find out information on Cami's location. Ascanio can't do that to Manuela, her father is too dangerous and he can't put her in that position - as well, since he started working at the municipal building, he hasn't seen her at all. Jimena is desperate to help Cami and Rico. Ascanio says they need to hope that Rico can find her. Ascanio asks her about why she's not at Justo's house - Jimena mumbles her reply.
* Santo, Justo and a lady show Cami into her new bedroom of the new hacienda. Cami asks the lady about restrooms. The lady leaves to get some water and food for Cami. Cami realizes that Santo and Justo brought her there because Rico returned to San Fernando! That's it, isn't it? Cami scolds them for doing everything to keep her and Rico apart. Santo argues with her that they are doing this for her own good. Justo even stomps his fatherly foot and yells at Cami that he will never permit her to be with Rico again!
* Lis admires one of the toy soldier chess pieces in the candlelight. Manuela enters the salon and talks with Lis. Lis mentions Alberto having an idea of an ideal mate for Manuela to marry - Manuela is surprised - Lis asks if she has some idea who it is. Manuela covers and says she doesn't. Lis tells Manuela she would like it if they were friends. Manuela says her dad wouldn't like it. Manuela leaves. Lis sits down and knocks all the chess pieces off the board.
* Santo and Justo leave the room and lock the door. Cami cries and pounds on the door, "let me out! let me be with Rico! I want to live with Rico!"
* Cleo and Fran return to the house. Luis greets them. Fran asks him to have cook prepare a light meal for her in her room. As Fran and Cleo enter the salon, Fran asks Luis if Lis and Alberto are there. Luis says Lis is in her room; Alberto hasn't returned tonight.
* Mario returns driving a cart filled with lots of clothes to the group at the side of the road near the cornfields. Rico and crew, along with Alberto, change into the clothes. They climb aboard the cart and horses and proceed down the road.
* At Garbancillo hacienda, Rico and crew look around and wonder about a back entrance. Alberto says there is one. Rico, Pablo and Mario take Alberto to the back. Pablo and Mario split off on one path while Alberto and Rico take the other.
* The foursome meet up inside the salon. Rico and Alberto search the rooms in one direction, Mario and Pablo go in another.
* In the bedroom, Rico grumbles about not finding any signs that Cami was even there. Rico starts to search the drawers as Alberto just stares at him. Rico turns his back to look in the closet and Alberto breaks a wooden chair over Rico's head. Alberto lunges at him; Rico punches him with his elbow, throwing Alberto towards the bed. Alberto takes out his knife and lunges at Rico. Rico fights back. As Alberto lunges again with his knife and strikes the bed. Rico grabs the candlestick from the nightstand and with a quick flick of his wrist, he stabs Alberto in his left eye. Alberto falls back into the closet and screams in pain and horror over his bloody eye. Later, Rico and Mario have Alberto in a chair. Alberto is hunched over and in pain holding his hands over his eye. Rico scolds Alberto for lying and deceiving him about Cami being there! Mario suggests that maybe they should make Alberto totally blind now. Rico takes out his knife; just the mention of the threat, Alberto cowers and tells them about Auxiliadora the midwife.
* Rico and crew, with Alberto, arrive outside Auxiliadora's cottage.
* Auxiliadora is helping Conchita give birth to her baby when a knock is heard on the door. Auxiliadora stops with what she's doing and answers it. Rico enters with knife in hand, Mario is behind him. Rico asks her where Cami is? Auxiliadora tells him in the main house. Rico says she's not there. Auxiliadora replies. Auxiliadora tells them she is helping Conchita give birth now and they need to leave. Mario asks about other doors. Auxiliadora tells them. Mario and Rico leave through the back door.
* Outside the cottage, the crew are taking a break and watching Alberto, in a red cape and is sitting the cart with dried blood over his eye. Alberto with his one good eye sees the guards approaching. He yells and screams about pirates! pirates are here! Guards start shooting - mass chaos erupts - Alberto is hit and falls to the ground. The crew, along with Rico and Mario, start to gallop away with guards in pursuit. Alberto scoots himself near a wall for safety. One of the guards spots him and approaches. As the crew gallop through the community, people scream and run away; guards continue their shooting - it looks like Pablo is wounded in the back; Mario gets shot in the leg as he tries to talk with Rico. Rico orders crew to retreat.
* In the salon of the main house, Santo grumbles to Justo over the bad timing of the chaos and Rico's arrival just as Cami is about to give birth. Guards pull Alberto inside the doors - Lady screams at the sight. Alberto tells Santo that Antillano is there. Santo and Justo are impactado.
* At the creek, Rico talks with Mario as he and Jesus fix the bandage to Mario's wounded leg. Rico wonders why the guards attacked like that - he wonders about how to get Cami and his son back - he's disgruntled that his plan backfired. Mario gives his suggestion to lay low, take a break and plan again. Rico grumbles. Crewmember calls out about more guards approaching. Rico and crew help the injured to move again.
* Guard reports to Santo about losing Rico and his crew. Santo is fumigating mad. Justo talks to him about Rico. Santo wants him DEAD! DEAD! DEAD! They have to get him now! Justo asks about Cami, she can't move now. Santo realizes this and she will stay there until she gives birth. Justo reminds Santo that Ofelia made a promise to Cami to be there for the delivery. Santo is more focused on getting Rico right now. Justo is more worried about Cami and her baby.
* Crew restrains Mario on the ground, and provide him with swigs of alcohol from a full bottle as Guero works to remove the bullet from Mario's leg wound. Mario screams and struggles with the pain. Rico and Jesus are spying on the road from below an embankment. Rico isn't happy to see all the soldiers riding around. They leave.
* At the campfire, Rico reminds the crew why they are there - to get Cami and his son. Rico says despite all appearance, Justo is an honorable man whom he respects. He has no ulterior motive against the blacksmith (Santo) either. Mario brandishes his sword and gives his commentary. Rico moves over to Mario and talks with him about feeling like a coward today. Mario says he isn't, he is very brave and Cami is strong also. He has to have faith that they will be together again. Rico does have faith.
* Justo visits Cami in her room. Cami asks if Rico has come to visit her. Justo says no. Cami begs Justo for piety. Justo refuses the request. Cami informs Justo about Rico's letter that he never received - she says in the letter, Rico explains his whole life and his profound love for Cami. Justo says none of that will change his opinion of Rico now. Justo tells Cami that Santo has sent for Ofelia to come. Cami is content; she's scared and doesn't want to lose her baby. Just then Cami screams out really loud due to the pain of contractions. Justo, nervous, runs to the door and yells for Santo to come. Santo and the lady (Tomasa) enter. Santo will go get the local midwife. Tomasa stays with Cami.
* Auxiliadora is busy in her cottage - she is helping Conchita give birth in the main room. There's a knock on the door. Auxiliadora is too busy to open it. Santo enters and his eyeballs look like they are about to pop out of his head to see Conchita in labor. Santo explains to Auxiliadora that she is needed immediately. Auxiliadora can't, she's busy right now. Santo leaves to get Cami. Auxiliadora has Conchita push - baby is born (dead) and Conchita rests.
* Santo returns to the hacienda main house. He rushes passed Tomasa at the door - he's in a hurry. In the room, he explains to Justo that the midwife is busy and can't come. They will have to take Cami to her cottage instead. Justo and Santo struggle to help Cami, still in pain from the contractions, out of bed and walk her out of the room. Tomasa carries a napsack for Cami.
* Auxiliadora is reviewing her money bags and mumbling about the dead baby. A knock at the door. Auxiliadora works quickly to hide the bags and cover up the dead baby before opening the door. Santo and Justo enter with a very weak Cami. Auxiliadora has them put her on the bed in her room. Cami lays on the bed. Auxiliadora tells Santo and Justo they need to leave now, and let her do her work. Santo only stands and stares at Cami. Justo kneels by the bed and doesn't want to leave. Cami insists they go. Justo and Santo stare at each other.
* Outside the cottage, Justo tells Auxiliadora if there is anything they can do for Cami, tell them. Santo says they will wait there all night if they have to. Auxiliadora thinks they are nuts and returns inside.
* In the bedroom, Cami tells Auxiliadora that she prays her baby boy is born alive and healthy. In the other room, Conchita wakes up and notes that her baby girl isn't moving - Auxiliadora lies and explains something to her and gives her some tea to let her sleep.
* Santo and Justo are mumbling together outside. Justo complains to Santo about not letting Ofelia come and take care of Cami, like she promised.
* Auxiliadora returns to bedroom; she kneels and starts to coach Cami through childbirth. Cami screams really loud as she pushes.
* As the crew sleeps around the campfire, Rico is on night watch. He thought bubbles about how it might be to hold his son in his arms and be with Cami again. He sits down and rests and continues to thought-bubble.
* Guards stop in front of the house in San Fernando. Alberto crawls out of the coach and falls to the ground. He yells at the guards not to help him. Guards help him stand up. As Alberto and the guards enter, Alberto starts screaming at Luis and the other servant to CALL THE DOCTOR! Luis scurries away. Manuela and Fran enter as Alberto reaches his room. They are mortified by Alberto's bloody appearance. Alberto screams about Antillano and vows definite revenge against him. Alberto orders Manuela to get him his robe and bedclothes. Manuela scurries.
* Auxiliadora continues to coach Cami through childbirth. Cami finally gives birth. The baby boy screams. Cami faints.
* Fran wakes Lis and tells her about Alberto being blind in his left eye now. Lis is curious to go see him - Fran tells her that he's like a wild monster right now, best to wait for the doctor to examine him first. Lis wants to know all the details. Fran only relays what little she heard Alberto grunt.
* Auxiliadora gives Conchita a little tea and places a baby in her arms.
* Guards arrive at Ofelia's house, inform Ofelia that Santo has sent for her, it's an emergency and she needs to leave right now. Ofelia runs to the room for her things.
* In the sewing room, Jimena helps Ofelia with her basket of herbs and convinces Ofelia to let her come along.
* Auxiliadora pushes Conchita and the baby out of the cottage quickly. Conchita asks about Cami - Auxiliadora only says that she's really bad and her baby died. Auxiliadora escorts Conchita and the baby outside.
* Outside, as Conchita leaves with the baby, Auxiliadora talks with the guard as she escorts him inside.
* In the bedroom, Auxiliadora checks on the still unconscious and feverish Cami, restless and calling out for Rico and her baby son. Auxiliadora picks up the baby from the cradle.
* Ines skips over to the shop and talks with the twins, Pancho and Crispin. She is visiting her mom. Pancho and Crispin inform her that Ofelia, Ascanio and Jimena left rather early this morning with some guards and in a coach. Ines is curious.
* Rico and crew stop on the trail. Rico and Mario argue over Rico's using his heart instead of his head, in regards to Cami and his son. Some guards appear nearby and start to shoot. Rico and crew leave quickly.
* In his bed, Doctor cares for Alberto's wounds. Alberto grunts, grimaces and yells about Antillano. Lis, Fran and Manuela are in the room listening.
* Ines talks with Vasco at the mill office about Ofelia, Jimena and Ascanio leaving town early this morning. Vasco is worried about his dad and sister. Ines consoles and advises him to think positive.
* Santo and Justo arrive at the cottage. Auxiliadora meets them outside and takes them in. Santo and Justo are muy impactado at the sight of Cami laying in bed. Auxiliadora explains she's had a high-grade fever (puerpal fever) since giving birth and could very well die; and the baby died. Santo and Justo kneel beside the bed. Justo begs Cami for forgiveness. Santo cries as he holds Cami in his arms. Cami cries and asks for her baby. Auxiliadora observes with interest.
ADVANCE: Auxiliadora reports to Fran about Cami's poor health and about the baby boy - Cami has been told he died, but he is alive and healthy and will be given to Fran in a few days.

Thank you for the recap.mhm
Many of you probably had the same negative, "not that cliche" reaction I did when I first realized there was going to be a baby switch. Having been totally spoiled, I'd like to reassure you not to get too upset. I think you will see that it leads to some great scenes and it is used well for the plot. I hope that is encouraging yet sufficiently vague to not be a spoiler :-)
Pascal
Things like, "Well, we always told you it would be fun and games until somebody puts an eye out - but did you listen? Nooo."
And, "Hey, now Lis and Bouffy have something in common besides being rotten to the core!" (Bet it won't make him any more sympathetic, though.)
Did any babies actually get swapped? I got confused with whose was where - because I can see where it would make sense for Conchita to leave with the live baby, so Auxi would have a body to prove the death, but then how would she get the other back?
This episode was full of action but I had to skip over the gruesome parts.
I have to admit that I am very -very disappointed with the baby switch plot. I know that many of you had forseen it but since this telenovela is anti-clichέ I thought that the other pregnant girl would answer another purpose. I must say though that Pascal's comment comforted me.
Regarding LaFont 's eye, I know that he deserves it but I actually felt sorry for him.
After having read J. R. 's recap I understood what Julie meant by saying that LaFont offers Ric a chair. LOL!
Retrieving the baby from Conchita will be easy enough - Auxiliadora just needs to say that she's found a good home for him.
But we're left with questions - how will Camila survive? how will she and Ricardo get back together? will La Paisana nurse Pablo back to health and reforge the mother-son bond? will Santiago decide he has to marry Camila on her "deathbed"? will Justo get back on track?
caray, caray!

I'm backing away from my call for fire and blood, maybe even retribution. I don't think I can handle it. It looks brutally painful.
Maybe it would be just fine to have all the bad guys go to jail for life, except Lis. She needs hospitalization. Did you see her thrilled to hear it smile?
Regardless of Auxiliadora's motives (which seem pretty impure to me) the baby wasn't safe anyway and getting it away from there and unnoticed is probably the best thing for it. And as somebody pointed out,Conchita is going to be acting as a wetnurse. How Auxi plans to get the baby away from her is anybody's guess. Heartbreak for Conchita I imagine. We don't know much about her, except that she's a poor peasant, an unwed mom whose baby-daddy kicked her to the curb--I think she said something about somebody taking her in temporarily. Fortunately all the baby needs right now is milk.
The scene with LaFont's eye getting put out was something else. That actor deserves a telenovela oscar, nice fake blood too. Now we have a guy with an eyepatch, even if he isn't a pirate. Lis seemed a little too excited when invited into the sick room.
As for the terrible two--Injusto and Santi, finally some remorse for nearly killing Camila and they think, doing in her baby. What do you want to bet they try to sell the baby's death to her as "God's will."
Even though I don't agree with what Justo is doing with Cami, I will defend him in that he is a father who is just protecting his daughter from what he feels is a bad boy. I should know cuz my Dad was one protective fellow over his only daughter. And yes I was attracted to the bad boys (lol).
I had a blast at Texas Motor Speedway this past weekend for the NASCAR races. Saw some folks I hadn't seen a while also. I'm slammed right now with getting stuff off my desk at work and packing up my apt. to move next week. So I apologize in advance if I'm not commenting on here as much as I usually do for the next week. But I'll be watching Ric (sigh) & the boys rest assured!
LaFont got exactly what he deserved. Mario had the right idea - just put out the other eye, too. There is no redemption for LaFont. He is evil through and through. All this will do is make him worse. He will abuse anyone who comes near him - except Jorge who apparently has his number at last.
What did Lis expect to accomplish by trying to get Manuela to become her ally? Even timid Manuela knows better than to get near that scorpion.
At the beginning of this novela, I really thought the Cami character was weak and without passion. She has developed into a strong woman with a lot of character. Against the worst odds, she stands up to two men who are literally killing her with "kindness."
Santi also appears to be beyond help. He's gone over the bend. What was he thinking by moving a woman in labor? That had to come to a bad end.
Auxiliadora has her ducks lined up in a row. She's gotten gold from just about everyone and is playing every card that comes her way. But, someday, somehow the truth about the babies will come out, and she better be far, far away. Unless, of course, she's considered a heroine for "saving" Cami's baby.
From lower Ala
While the Justice League of SF will try to sell Cami on the will of God, she's got some sense now. She knows those idiots (by moving her TWICE) are at fault. It will be interesting to see if the usually always forgiving Cami will do so when she comes back to herself. My hope is that she'll freeze them out.
14 or 15 episodes left, naughty me i just couldnt help to sneak peak ahead and well you'll see and end up laughing. This show is starting to grow me maybe i will go back and watch it. laughs dont mind me haha
Great work on the recap
It seems strange that the baby was born really clean and full term. Isn't seven months considered premature?? Just saying....
Ric is so frustrated right now and he plays the part so well. If Jimi tells Cami that he has tried to rescue her maybe she won't ever give up hope. As far as Santi and
inJusto are concerned, they'd better be feeling guilty for how they screwed up things or else anvils should fall on their heads bigtime!!
Well the Bouffy scene was gastly but oddly satisfying in some sick corner of my mind. And that baby boy was the biggest premature (7 months gestation by the script)infant on the planet, no? Just think, he might have had a beard and his Papa's dimples if he had actually been allowed to go to term. I agree that the switcheroo may save his life but I hope the poor young woman/wetnurse has enough food to sustain her and the baby. And I fervently hope that they don't kill her when they come back to snatch the little pirate pup from her arms.
And Mad Marley you get the award again today for making the best coffee spewing, laugh causing crack about "...until someone puts an eye out" You are too too fun.
Saintly & his crocodile tears...oh spare me. You know he won't feel the slightest bit guilty because this was all G_d's way of fixing the Ric problem. And Cami will love him after this, right? HA! Dream on & go wash your hair.
Pobrecita Conchita. Auxie is about as warm & loving as Tia FranKenstein.
La Lis is a whack-o. Loved the irony of Bouf losing an eye, though. Sorry, no sympathy for the Devil.
Ric needs his homeys right about now. C'mon Chino! C'mon La Paisana! C'mon Foreman! It will be a battle extraordinaire w/ Pirates vs. the WWBs*.
Whew! What fun!
*Wicked Wigged Boys
I think Liz was just trying to cozy up to Manuela for info.mhm
As an andidote to all the violence, gore and morbid dead baby stuff, I loved the dream scene with Ric, Cami and their baby. There's just something so sweet and gentle about Fernando C. when he's in
a scene with babies and children. You can tell he really enjoys them.
Poor Conchita!! First Justo and Santiago barge in on her childbirth (door facing birth site, hmmm), then in walk Mario and Rico head on. None of those boys seemed to have had any empathy at all for Conchita.
Well that I applauded and support! YES see it and LEARN.
I could not stand to look at Lafont's bloodied eye or hear his screaming - I had to hit the "mute" button. Gruesome.
Santi has turned into a demon. As the son of a midwife and curandera, he knew how dangerous it was to move Cami. He's as bad as Lafont. And Justo - lily livered sack of .....
The piratas have more scruples than the pious "gentlemen" of SF.
Why would Ric and gang keep campfires going with the guardia around - especially at night? That would be like a neon arrow pointing at their location. Does the guardia go home at 5 pm?
Rats! The ol' baby switcheroo. Hard to prove the kid's yours in those pre-DNA test days. Can we pass a law outlawing that plot device in future telenovelas?
Yep, I too suspect jSenor, who has taken up the leadership role AMAzingly swiftly, will call on his holy-ness explaining the dead birth. inJusto could start to redeem himself by saying Oh no jSenor Santiago, you were the one that insisted on moving a woman IN LABORrrrr TWICE! When the midwife said don't move at all!
1. There are enough people who find them offensive (unless used for the actual item, e.g. you refer to a female dog as a b*tch). With so many aggrevations already in the world, I don't want to add to anyone's.
2. Four-letter words may trigger family-friendly filters. I realize that plenty of other stuff on this blog will also trigger them, but I'm just in the habit of always altering the spelling of those words on-line, just like when I drive I always signal even if no one is behind me. Habit.
And someone commented about Justo wanting to get his daughter away from the "bad boy" ... I'm not buying it. If he wanted to protect her, why drag her away from everyone she knows, stash her in a remote house with complete strangers, not allow her to go to church, and the only medical care allowed is an iffy midwife who may or may not be available (not to mention the dragging her around the countryside when she's already had one bad fall).
If he REALLY wanted to protect her, why not take her away to a real convent where they're used to unwed mothers (I'm sure there were some), where she'd get some kind of consistent medical care, where they'd pray at her 24/7 and try to get her to see the error of her ways?
The man-crush thing would explain Justo ... and Santiago getting all possessive and self-righteous would explain HIM. I'm liking him less and less ... but at least at the end of the episode we had Ofelia, Jimena, and Ascanio riding to the rescue! Among the three of them, things will come out right.
Annnd ... we get to see how crazy Lisabeta takes care of LaFont! (and maybe she'll "take care" of Francisca while she's at it!)
Toddson
Ok, is it just me or was that the most violent and graphic episode of a telenovela ever. I have a vivid imagination, but man, eye gouging, bullet pulling, dead child birthing, and general warring, shooting and stabbing.... my soul was weak.
I probably have more to say, but I'm still so overwhelmed that I'm drawing a blank for now. :)
"Well that I applauded and support! YES see it and LEARN"
I'm not against men learning or seeing a childbirth (their own preferably) but to barge in on a complete stranger and totally ignore her pain and vulnerability was basically treating her like dirt.
Couldn't watch LaFont lose his eye. Ugh! That was awful, but wasn't going to let Ric out of that room alive if he could help it, so he doesn't get to be too surprised. It will be interesting to see if this shifts the balance of power at all in his relationship with Lis or Manuela. I think both had seen him as basically bulletproof, especially Manuela.

This may be the event that finally turns InJusto around, but I don't think he is going to enjoy talking to Cami when she recovers. We all know our heros will get their baby back eventually, but poor Cami when she finds out her baby "died".
I too loved the dream sequence with Ric and Cami. Hopefully we'll see that in the future.
Cami Supporter
Didn't La Paisana do an eye gouging too earlier in the season? Seems to be a quite popular (and effective) tool. Re: LaFont's gouging, it's only poetic justice since during the scenes where he's menancing la ciega, I've often wanted to gouge out my own eyes.
What a great recap. I believe "maldita sea " is closer to "d-mn it".
or damn it as the case may be. I was just trying to point out that cultural differences can have a strong effect on language and particularly word choice.
And thanks Paula H/aka Mad Polly Flint, perhaps self-censorship is at work with this reluctance to work with or mention certain words but I still don't understand why the word hell is a curse word or a so called four letter word (I can count the 4 letters) but love and hope are also 4 letters long each.

Did y'all notice Lisabutta didn't look too sympatheric there at Al's sickbed?
What a couple of pig-headed selfish and self-rigteous bastards that Santi and Justo, dragging that poor girl in premature labor up and down the countryside. Stupid, abusive bastards!! Dumbasses, too. Auxiliadora might as well have had "mother-killin' baby-switcher" plastered on her forehead, it was so obvious she was untrustworthy but those idiots didn't have a clue and then left Camilla there! They probably won't think anything of it that the other mujer is leaving with a live baby. Of course, it's all about Santi all day everyday, Camila's soaked in sweat from the poison she just drank, the impact of being dragged from SF to kingdom come, and infection from that filthy "midwife" and of course that means it's time for crocodile tears of self-pity and false regret. UUUUUuuuuh. I want major smackdowns all around.
Loved the surgical suite scene with Mario. Fun-ny! Whew! Now. I'll read the recap and comments!!
LMAO!!! Amen, sister! I've always had a dialogue with the tv. That's half the fun of watching. I have a son with autism, though, and he gets upset when I scream, yell and cuss at the tv so I did a lot of internal yelling as I watched today (got it on tape and he's on spring break). Reading and ranting on the blog is fun, too!
Yes, por otro lado, that's Paisana and Pablo in the opening credits. I hope it only means that they mend their relationship, and not that he dies. :(
And I'll trust that the switched babies thing won't be too awful. Remember, the same writer did it in Alborada. Our galan Luis (Fernando) was a switched baby who had a burned leg that finally identified him as the true heir. But as soon as I saw that other woman in labor, I thought: please, stop with the cliches!
I didn't feel even a twinge at LaFont's goring. In fact I was chortling over his bellowing and cowardice, definitely a contrast to the mostly stoic pirates when wounded. Ric made a big mistake not finishing him off right there.
I may be wrong, but I think Santiago is genuinely remorseful about the baby's death and, certainly, that Camila may die because of his and Injusto's stupid dragging her around after she was supposed to have "reposo". Of course, it could go either way, but he might actually change and try to help her reunite with Ric.
Pascal
Many have noted that Liz looked happy about LaFont's mishap. After her wedding night, can we blame her? Also does she still think Ric is dead? If Al keeps screaming about her pirate cousin and wanting revenge, won't she find out?
But she's got that fever anyway, so who knows.
All he needs now is a peg leg and a wisecracking parrot. :)
Re Lis' look at bedside - she seems to have the same look on her face no matter what she's doing
Mad Polly, I've been yelling at the Pasion tv screen quite a bit lately. Hubby thinks I'm nuts, but I consider it theraputic.
I didn't like Pablo getting wounded again. He already had to suffer through one tough recovery, but maybe LaPaisana can help nurse him again. Mario was suffering, too. I hope Jimena can find him and aid his recovery with her best beside manner.
I hope--very strongly--that Ofelia shows up and lays down the law to Santi and Justo concerning the treatment of women in labor. Also hope that she can help Cami recover from her fever. I would break out in a fever, too, if I had to wear a tight-bodiced, high-necked pink gown during labor and delivery. I thought maybe Aux. did a rough internal exam when Cami cried out.
The baby looked like Ric, even as a newborn: large, sturdy, curly black hair. Surely he won't be too hard to claim if they can only find him.
And I hope LaFont continues to suffer even as he heals. Maybe Lis can soothe him by stroking his blind side with a flower.
Power to the good deeds and anvils to the evil!
La Paloma
I thought both babies were boys, but I could be wrong. I also could have sworn I heard Conchita's baby cry, but maybe it was just the music and the power of suggestion. Auxi gave Conchita some tea (probably a sedative of some sort) right after her baby was born. When Conchita said the baby wasn't moving and didn't see to be feeding, Auxi said it was asleep and to just give it some sugar water later on. The girl was pretty out of it, but you'd think she would have noticed how her baby suddenly doubled in size. Once she'd done the switch, Auxi gave Conchita some milk (probably with some stimulants) to get her strength up and go home even though she was still in pain. She probably wanted her out of the house lest the menfolk get confused with the extra baby.
Auxi also gave Cami some tea at the start of labor, so my guess is poisoning. If it weren't for the fact that we haven't gotten an exact ending date yet, I'd worry about Cami dying. Instead, I suspect Ofi and Co, will arrive soon and will be able to nurse her to health. We may get a couple of days of delirium, but I think she'll recoup.
I think the size of the baby had more to do with what they were able to get. Over the years there has been much controversy over the use of preemies on film and television when they need scenes with babies delivered.
In the previews Auxi tells Fran she will bring Ric's baby in 2 months after he's all better. He was premature as it is and really needs to breastfeed for a while. As for getting the baby back, she'll either tell Conchita she found the baby a good home, or tell her the truth about her baby dying. Prior to delivery, Auxi kept telling Conchita that hopefully the baby would be born dead. Dunno what happened to the dad, but we know her own dad kicked her out of the house and so did her aunt. She's going back to the barn where she was staying and Auxi told her if they give her any grief, to tell them Auxi sent her (probably will give the guy money for his help). I'm guessing she'll give Conchita some money (either for her baby or for her nursing) and send her back to her family who might agree to take her back now that she's not bringing them shame.
I will confess I was perversely satisfied to see Al loose his eye. Especially when he got down on his knees and begged for mercy. Ric replied he should be grateful he was unarmed and injured (Ric's too much of a gentleman to kill someone in that condition).
Justo has actually been trying (albeit half-heartedly) to do right by his kid and let her go to Ric, or let her stay where she is 'cause the midwife said so, or take her home where he knows the Ofi and the Dr. can care for her, and that it's not Christian to want Ric to die. Unlike Auxi, Ofi is a curandera (medicine woman) as opposed to strictly a partera (midwife) - although she's been referred to as a partera. This means she's actually treated different types of ailments and is a bit more qualified to treat Cami (the doctor himself said Ofi knows about as much as he does) so I suspect Ofi will come in handy when she arrives. To his credit, Santi did cry over Cami (probably more at her possible death than to that of her child) and said that it was all his fault. I started screaming at the TV that indeed it WAS. Justo and Santi had originally considered a convent, but they went along with Jorge and Al's idea of the house. That certainly didn't help matters. I really hope Jim and Ofi give Santi hell and smack him around and tell him it's all his fault. He needs to get truly remorseful for all his misdeeds.
I also felt terrible for poor Pablo. Poor guy just finished getting better from the last time he almost died.
It could have been worse. They could have used a toddler or something. :)
I too shrieked with delight when Lafont lost his eye. It was perfect. If he had lost both eyes I would have said, hey, let's not kill this guy off after all, because this is actually a better punishment for him! Now he'll be helpless and dependent!
I didn't notice that Auxi gave Cami tea at the beginning of the labor. I'm surprised Cami drank it - she seemed to avoid Auxi's stuff before.
The housekeeper at the new place did mention another midwife. I'm just amazed that Justo and Santi went to the other one anyway, even though it meant having to go back and bring Cami over. What a couple of maroons.
I hope Sancti and Injusto, will get what they deserve. Justo is starting to worry that he would be blamed if things go badly, so he put it on Sancti. And Sancti, well, he's not stupid-just selfish and arrogant. He's crying because he might lose his possession and couldn't care less about what he just put her through. Don't you know Cami just wanted to push his face and greasy hair away - out of her face...

cherylnewmex -- my use of heck instead of hell is because I'm trying to be respectful to anyone reading that may be offended by the use of hell. this is also the reason I use "Oh, Crap" instead of "Oh, S**t". My writing "G-d" is because of my religion (I'm jewish).
mad polly -- over the past few weeks, I've been talking to my television set quite regularly during this drama. just last night (Wed. night's episode), I was saying "Way to go, Cami! Way to tell off your own dad and say Rico is 100 times better than he and Santo Santi could ever be! Bravo!"
thank you everyone for all your comments. it's a pleasure to write such an action-packed recap for you.
J.R. :) (feeling the need to take a really long vacation)
