Guapos: Monday May 12, 2008 - Help fill in the blanks....

Due to unforeseen circumstances I haven't had a chance to watch last night's episode and it looks like I won't get a chance until late this evening. So rather than have you wait for a recap from me, I'm opening this up for all of you to fill in the blanks on what happened in last night's episode. Hopefully we'll get it all covered, and if not, I'll add my recap later when I have a chance.

Here are a few things I'm putting in from memory:

No Flor this episode.

Luci goes to Cuernavaca with Nestor.

Damien follows with Karla, not knowing Luci is there. When they arrive, they see another car there, so Damien goes to investigate. That's how he overhears Luci revealing the truth.

Nestor is kind of upset. Luci wants him to keep the secret, and he's not happy. He points out that Connie is having an affair with his secretary.

Connie is paying off the detective that Granny hired to tell her that he found Mili's uncle but that he died (drowned trying to cross the border seems to be the idea).

Mili and Granny gather all the servants at the new house for the toast to Mili's new situation. But they are sworn to secrecy. Later, Braulio is reminding the staff that they are sworn to secrecy, but Alex comes in and overhears. What's up, he asks, but they don't tell him.

Alex sees that Eddie Haskell, er, Mat, has come over to see Granny. He smells a rat. Mat is planning to play Granny to get Mili to marry him. Ugh.

Back at home, Luci sits in the car outside Andrea's apartment, where Connie is kissing her goodbye. Andrea wants Connie to leave Luci, but Connie says he never will. After Connie leaves, Luci goes up and initiates a slapfest with Andrea. She says Connie will never leave her. Andrea says "we'll see."

Alex takes Mili to the soccer field and they have a heart-to-heart talk. They seem to be ironing out a lot of their differences. They kiss. He proposes that they have their secret marriage the next day. She accepts. They make out on the sand, a la "From Here to Eternity."

Later, Mili tells her friends the "secret," and of course Luci happens to be there overhearing . . .

That's all I can remember!

Enter Mat the rat. He is an outrageously self-centered money grubber who is about to enter Mili's life and add another complicated twist. Clueless Al does seem to have a clue that something is up with this guy.

Anyway, Al sets another secret wedding date that we know isn't going to happen because what would we be looking at for the next several months. Luci the hypocrite overhears Mili talking to her friends about the secret wedding. Of course she overhears, because Mansion Belmonte is the house of no secrets and no locks on bedroom doors.

Granny grabs her chest again and must rest.

Mili is now her daughter and her granddaughter, but only in the worst kep secret information safe in the world.

And, Hugo is on his way home. That, and knowing that Nestor is Al's father, has put a smile on Damian's face because he now has more information and will be able to blackmail Luci and probably Consti again, too. He overheard it as he eavesdropped behind a bush at the Belmonte mountain retreat - or somebody's mountain retreat. It looked good to me.

You'd think that Andrea would be a little embarrassed by being caught kissing Consti in public by Luci. But, no, she's as self-confident as ever and turns a bad situation around by revealing a few cards she has up her sleeve - 'cause she knows some of the secrets about Al and Mili that Luci is trying to hide.

Doesn't this sound like a big ball of messed up yarn?

Thanks for more fill-ins, Pasofino. I forgot that Andrea played the Alejandro card.

Anyway, I also just rmembered that they showed Mat's stunt double performing weird motorcycle riding tricks (mostly riding while letting his feet drag on the ground). Presumably to show what a bad boy he is.

Wow – you guys have great memories!

I’ll add that Mili signed the adoption papers at the house party. Hugs all around and Braulio in tears. Also, the lawyer told Mat to stay away from Mili because Mat didn’t even try to pretend to him that he was a good guy. He said right out that he wants to meet the now servant and future heiress.

Karla was pissed off because she and Damien were going to have a little getaway in Cuernavaca I think it is, at the vacation home, but Damien stuffed her in the car and dragged her back home after he found out Luci and Nestor were there, and after he’d done his eavesdropping at the pivotal point where she tells Nestor Al is his kid. Meantime, Nestor isn’t in the mood for romance now that he’s heard the news, and he wants to go back to town, which they do.

Oh, and Mili tells Alex that Mat is just her teacher.

What were they doing making out like that on the soccer field? Isn't it right next to the convent?

Howdy =)

Lessee,
Mat tries to convince grandpa that he should hook him up with the heiress maid and they can administer the fortune together. Gramps is digusted.

Mat the rat comes to Belmonte house to hopefully catch the soon to be heiress, but runs into Al instead (Everyone but he and Val are at the adoption ceremony or in their various liasons). Mat tells Al he's there to see Regina, whom he knows - Al is even more confused. Before they can get any further Regi gets home and Val tells her that Mat's in the study waiting for her. Mili says she's just gonna change clothes and will be right over (still not ready for Mat to know she's a servant, but he'll figure it out soon enough).

Al leaves Regi and Mat in the study and runs into Brau's instructions on keeping the secret. Brau covers up telling him that Mili broke a vase and he doesn't want her getting fired over it. Mili walks in wearing her uniform and tells Brau if Regi asks for her, tell her she's busy. Al asks Mili to come with him and after much arguing gets her to come with him in his car and takes her to the soccer field.

Meanwhile, Regi tells Mat that she wants him to get to know Mili as she'll probably be more comfortable with someone closer to her own age handling her business affairs when Regi's gone. Mat sees $$$. Brau comes in and tells Regi that Mili went out (foolishly leaving out Al which would make more sense to Regi. Regi tells Brau to fix up the guest room for Mili as she's now part of the family. Methinks Mili will object to sleeping away from her girlfriends, but she'll probably figure she won't be sleeping alone for long...

There's a lengthy scene in the soccer field where Al finally gets on his knees, perfectly exposed to one of Mili's signature kicks. She starts running like she's gonna kiss him, but topless him to the ground and starts kissing him instead. Luckily she's wearing Al's jacket so her uniform won't get too dirty...

Mat tells his buddy Ricardo (after the stunt sequence - like the hell's angels would really let him join) that he's going to convince his granddad that he's changed by playing at being the perfect grandson. He's also sweet talking Regi so she'll hook him up with Mili.

After the slapfest, Luci and Andrea go up to Andrea's place where Andy threatens to tell Regi that Mili is her long lost grandkid (so long inheritance...) and to tell Al that Connie's not his real daddy (so long son...) if she doesn't divorce Connie. As a token that she means her no harm, she tells her that Al and Mili are planning a secret wedding. I think she overhears the girls as part of the "proximo capitulo" section.

Hey, I just remembered something else!

Val and Bim (or Bo--only one girl today) are sunbathing. Rocky is watching. Bim catches him looking and smiles, so he ducks. Bim is egging her on about her continuing flirtation with Rocky.

Later, Val answers the door when Mat first comes, and Al steers her away. Val finds out that Mili was doing things with Granny and asks "Are you going to tell me what you're doing with my grandmother?" and Mili answers cockily "No!"

All the bases have been covered. I wondered how long it would be before the skank tried to use the information she has to blackmail the lush. Sure didn't take long and really do wish someone would tell Regina the truth before she kicks the bucket as she so obviously is going to.

I get the feeling that Braulio is sorry he hasn't spoken up to Mili about being her tio and what exactly does Connie have to gain by spreading the story that Mili's uncle is dead. Seems a waste of time and money since as has been pointed out the Belmonte Casa has no doors, no place for people to scheme in private.

Mat is a dog of the first order but somehow I think Mili will see through him. She hasn't given any indication that she is in the least bit attracted to him and he certainly has an over inflated idea of his own charms. The sooner he gets kicked to the curb by his grandfather, Regina, Mili or Al the better. If Al thought about it he might try turning the dog onto the Mafia princess. LOL.

The Nestor Luci conversation puzzled me. Did she tell him they had a one night stand while Francoise was away and that's when she got pregnant? I always had the impression that Nestor not the loco Frenchie was Luci's great love. What was she thinking in telling Nestor about AL after having kept it a secret for so long? As Connie might say the woman is as dumb as a rock.

Luci certainly is a moron. But I thought it was very amusing when she told Nestor Al was his son and he looked SO disgusted, like "THAT idiot? I have a son and it has to be HIM?" Of course that is just my interpretation of his expression.

Decie, I love your idea of getting Mat and the mafia princess together. Two people have never deserved each other more. She's probably too busy using Al's shirt for some sort of voodoo, though.

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah...

Damien drives a Mini-Cooper...

Damien is my hero, in a skanky, sleazy, hey he is so twisted kind of way. Sorry, but the only redemption I see for these people is to be totally milked out of every cent, which Damien and myself could spend. Damien I want a Mini-Cooper too, only I want the Union-Jack Paint Job.

Your Devoted Fan and willing to overlook some of your quirks,
the Beckster

Luci and Nestor were a one-night stand. He remembered that she was in love with, and waiting for, the Frenchman. But she said he (the Frenchman) never came, he had abandoned her. Later she told Connie that Alex was the Frenchman’s child. I guess she didn’t want to look like too much of a hussy.

Didn’t Connie have the Frenchman beaten up, so that he had brain damage and was nuts? So the Frenchman’s whole life was wrecked without him being Alex’s real daddy, though he thought he was? Of course, he did leave Luci who was in love with him, so maybe there is a molecule of justice in it, but just a molecule.

The Frenchman was Francois, as we recall.

And yeah, Bechster, I'm with you on the Mini thing!

Oh, yeah, I was surprised to see them emerging like circus clowns from the Mini Cooper. All the other people drive large Beemers and Benzes.

I wonder if there's a product placement. I saw an article in the business section today about how the networks are having to increase product placements to compensate for lost advertising viewership due to the use of DVRs.

Ditto on Mat and Flor as a couple--they totally deserve each other!

Thanks for covering for me, you all filled in the blanks nicely.

I remember something being said way back when Frenchie was on the show--about him not being Al's father......was it Luci saying it after he was dead or did he in fact know that the paternity was questionable? Wait a minute, I think it was in some sort of flashback with Luci and her dad. Does anyone else remember this?

Cathy, when Frenchie died, Luci regretted that she had lied to him and told him the child was his. She felt guilty for having made him go crazy. At that time it appeared that Frenchie was her true love, but appears to have been misdirection clarified by the introduction of Nestor.

Howdy =)

Cathy & Ninak: Yes, Luci had a flashback after Frenchi Frank died where she told him he was Al's daddy (Baby Al looked like he was 2 or so). Then her own dad walked in, got rid of Frank, and asked her why she was willing to lie when they both knew full well Francois wasn't the dad. She cries and asks dead Frank to forgive her. Yesterday, she told Nestor she tried looking for him after she found out she was pregnant, but couldn't find him in France or in Mexico. Given Nestor's penchant for travel, that's no too implausible. Given a previous conversation where Nestor mentioned Luci's dad not liking him (not sure why as he seems to have the right $$ and pedigree for their standards), chances are she couldn't go to daddy for help. She also couldn't go to Frank 'cause they'd been split up for a while (I don't think they've ever said why) and he'd know the baby couldn't be his. I guess when she went to him over a year later she could just say he had an awesome growth spurt! Anywhoo, although it wasn't terribly bright of her to tell Nestor the truth, we're supposed to think she did it because she's falling in love with him and wants to be honest. Who knows, maybe she'll be able to divorce Connie (with Andrea's help of course) and actually hook up with Nestor (we know nothing about the alleged wife he hasn't actually admitted to having). It occurred to me that Nestor would want to get to know his estranged offspring and they'd have to come up with some crazy scheme for this. After tonight's episode, I have a feeling Al's going to think Nestor's hitting on him. There was a similar situation in "Madre Luna" where the wealthy Leonardo Cisneros was constantly seeking his illegitimate son, Demetrio (who thought his dad was dead) and trying to offer him a job, offering to pay for his schooling, etc; and both the kid and his boss we're sure Leo was trying to be his sugar daddy. Chances are it will be a long time before this one gets revealed.
