Pasión de Gavilanes - Friday, June 6: Fernando discovers Norma's secret and meets an old friend; Óscar puts on war paint

You were right, Marie Celeste (como siempre). This was a great couple of episodes and I haven't even seen the last 15 minutes.

How long was Fernando working at the Hacienda before he caught Norma on her Saturday fence visits with Juan? One day?

How many times is Norma going to insist that she can do what she wants - visiting Juan, deciding to name the baby Juan David but refuse to just leave when her mother goes ballistic.

Uh oh, Fernando hooks up with Dínorah - they will have a common enemy - Juan

Óscar's plan to get back with Jimena was very funny. They are a very cute couple.

It was great when Franco threw Rosario out of the Hacienda. I didn't realize how much Juan dislikes Rosario. And now the nitwit, I forget his name, who played Agapito in Zorro, is going to follow Rosario. That will work out well, I'm sure.

Looking forward to Monday

Glad you enjoyed your lunch hour, Jean! ;-) Your “Agapito” guy is named “Memo” here, Armando’s right-hand man. (Which shows just how lame Armando’s situation truly is!)

Oscar & Jimena are such great comic relief. They are the couple that really confuses me by not jumping right back together. Oscar clearly has all the money he needs now, so Jimena would have to conclude that his feelings for her are sincere and not based on economics. So what’s she waiting for? It's another case of lingering resentment over a PoV keeping a heroine from what she clearly wants.

There should have been a scene in today’s episodes that is probably my favorite scene in the entire novela (again, going by what my schedule says should have happened today). It would’ve happened before the last 15 minutes but you didn’t mention it, Jean, so I’m not sure if you’re keeping mum to not spoil anything OR if perhaps it wasn’t included in today’s show. I’ve been wondering if the series might be edited differently this time around because while the youtube videos are generally on track with the TV on any given day, there have been comments made in the last week referring to scenes that were a day ahead of where I had us. In fact, it makes more sense that this favorite scene would show up Monday because it would set up perfectly as a Friday cliff-hanger. But if they were moving faster this time around, it for sure should have shown up today. Who knows…

Anywho, without giving anything away, the scene I’m talking about is a just a prime example of the unbelievable onscreen chemistry between Danna & Mario in these roles. The subtleties they communicate with mainly their facial expressions & body language just blow me away. It’s really impressive to watch (which I tend to do, over & over again…) So if it didn’t play today, then Monday’s show will definitely be a keeper.

I saw the last 15 minutes and yes, there sure is onscreen chemistry! I hope the scene carries over to Monday! I peeked ahead in my DVD set to see just what was included there, and it looks like they skipped right over the good stuff. I'm glad I recorded today's shows, and I plan to record Monday's as well, to keep for myself. Those DVD's really are edited.

Oscar and Jimena's reunion was cute. I especially enjoyed the trail of Indian costume parts strewn about on the ground after he carried her off.

And geez, I didn't realize the bar actually SOLD women! That place is worse than I thought! And so is Fernando! And he has the nerve to call JUAN a pervert???

Cindybin, good move that you're recording from TV as well as having the DVD. Can you believe they blew right past that in the DVD? From what I've heard in other places on the web, there are even more serious omissions that happen later on. Who edits these series for the DVD's? Monkeys? Makes noooo sense to me.

I'm afraid until they believe people will pay for entire novelas on DVD, we are going to have to accept that what they sell is a highlights DVD set at best. There has to be a lot missing if they are going to cut 188 episodes down to less than 13 hours. As much as we'd like the DVDs to just be our favorite scenes :-), the DVDs are also cut to attempt to make the story understandable to someone who hasn't seen the whole series.

I just watched the end of Thurs.' episode when Juan knocked Dínora down in the stable. Way to go with that witch.

At the beginning of Friday's episode, did I see Leandro making eyes at the guy who plays the Indian Chief in the commercial?

Leandro did make eyes at Richard, the new Indian Savage model, but it's just a passing incident. It's just Leandro reacting the same way we ladies would. ;-) (This scene takes place at the end of the Thursday episode per my youtube playlist, so looks like the new broadcast is edited a little differently than the last one.)

Anon 10:14 - I do realize you're correct about what a monstrous job it must be to edit these telenovelas. I do know, however, that many people, myself included, who don't want to go the bootleg route would be happy to pay more for more comprehensive versions if they could be made available. Just my wishful thinking...

Howdy =)

Jean, I think you're right about Leandro and Richard. He's quite a cutie, but no guarantees he plays on Leandro's team. Still, a boy can dream...

Marie Celeste, Latinos are definitely a family-comes-first breed. From the time I moved away from home to go to college until I got married 15 years later my mom was sure I'd eventually move back to my hometown. Heck, many still don't understand how I could move 2000 miles away and planned my wedding closer to my own place than to where my family lived (like I'd let them plan it for me! Silly wabbits...). I guess that's how Norma reasons her staying with mom, even if they do nothing but fight, while running off to see Juan at night. Silly wabbits I tell you!

So, we finally get the obligatory unholy alliance (the closest they'd had to one was Eva letting the Reyes boys into the hacienda) in Dinora with Gabi and Feonando. Ain't gonna help them as both of our lovers are far too stubborn to move on to someone else, even if they do manage to split them up for a while.

Friday's episode ended with Norma driving over to Juan's. He comes out to meet her, kisses her and carries her upstairs. Then there are scenes of the two brothers who have their girls in bed with them.

Thanks for the update, Jean. By Cindybin’s earlier comment, I suspected that’s where it ended. The Youtube version of this capitulo goes a bit further, so you’ll see it today. I have to keep in mind these deviations in the beginnings & endings of the broadcasts so I don’t give things away! Although, I suspect it won’t be too much of a concern except on Fridays… The carried-over scene from Friday with Juan & Norma ends with an especially funny interaction among the brothers. Too cute!

Marie Celeste, I almost spit my water watching Oscar and Franco waiting for Juan on the stairs and later busting his chops. This is what brothers do;)

Glad grandpa Marting is coming around and becoming an advocate for the brothers. Hopefully that will offset Dinora's interference. I get a kick out of Quintina calling her "vibora" (snake). That woman can read them!

Speaking of reading, the palm reader's predictions are all coming true: Juan has the first of his three kids (the one she said was on the way at the time) and he's become quite wealthy (whether he wants to admit it or not) thanks to an inheritance. The way he and Norma are going at it, number 2 may be along before we know it and that might be the push she needs to marry the man.

I've been thinking of the Franco/Rosario situation and realized it's what usually happens in TNs with the genders reversed. Usually it's "the woman" who innocently (or stupidly) agrees to a seemingly platonic relationship with a man who has other plans (Eduvina hiring Franco to be her personal secretary). Then "the man" who has practiced less than chaste behavior assumes "the woman" has been unfaithful, and ends the relationship to take up refuge in the arms of the first available warm body (in this case Armando) regardless of what messed up history already exists between them (like the fact he used to prostitute her and occasionally raped and/or smacked her around). Rosario is behaving like the man, and made the huge mistake of marrying a man she knows to be violent (there's no question in anyone's mind it was he who put Franco in the hospital many months ago) and is just asking for trouble. I suspect Franco would have probably fallen in her claws again where it not for the fact that he's falling in love with Sarita, another strong woman. Between Sara's brains and Franco's charm, they might actually get far if she ever allows herself to be happy with him. As for Rosario, she made her bed and she'll have to lie in it with Armando and all his mafia baggage.
