Pasión de Gavilanes, Mon., June 23 - Ruth leaves home, the incompetant assassins fail yet again, Memo gets an unwelcome assignment

Good episode yesterday-

Oscar and Jimena are such a cute couple. This endless fooling around might easily be very irritating but they do it so well that it is entertaining.

It was funny how in Juan and Oscar's 'serious talk' with Franco, Oscar pretended to be more concerned about having his and Juan's relationships messed up by Franco's romance with Sara than about Franco's feelings.

Sarita finally tells her sisters who she is seeing.

Ruth finally finds out that she is adopted and from Melissa, not Calixto. So far, anyway, Melissa seems like a good character. She told Raquel off. Raquel is as possessive as Gabriela but not as evil. The reaction of the 'fruit sons' when they saw Ruth walking on the road was amusing, too.

What can you say about Herzog and Rubinsky latest fiasco? It seem highly improbable that no one in the restaurant would have called the police even if Franco didn't want to. What is it with the old cars in the novela? There's Juan's truck, of course, which is just a heap but both H&R and Pepita drive these classic cars.

Memo seems really unhappy about his assignment to kill Rosario. He talks big but he's not a killer. He didn't even want to fight to protect Armando when he got beat up. He kept pushing the other bodyguards forward.

Thanks, Jean. Yesterday's episode was very good.

How cute that Franco and Sarita both got "the talk" by their siblings before the date.

Juan, aka Mr.Manners, telling Franco how to act, open the car door, compliment Sarita's dress even if he doesn't like it, take her to dinner, and treat her like a lady - LOL

I was howling when Oscar licked his fingers and patted down Franco's hair as F. went off for the date.
OMG, just like a mother! I love the brothers' interactions.

Sarita's ruse of yelling at Franco so she could throw the drink at the "killer" was fast thinking!
She is awesome! And beautiful. Rosario is no competition.

The fruit brothers thinking Ruth was Libia was too funny!

Thanks for the new post Jean ;) Lest you guys wonder who the heck I am, I just added the "Chilaquiles" portion to my name in honor of the new TN, "Querida Enemiga."

Anya, I agree with you on Melissa. She might be a mostly "absent" mom, but her kids are grown and don't really need to have their mommy around all the time, so she might as well have some fun! Once she got there though, it was nice of her to stick out her claws against evil auntie Raquel to protect her boys. It was sweet of her to tell Leandro that she's fully aware he'll never marry A WOMAN and could care less as long as he's happy. I also loved her telling Benito "I don't care if you're fat, but don't go making yourself sick." No nagging, no demanding, just saying what things are and letting them make up their own minds. Nice mommy.

I also loved watching Oscar and Juan sending off Franco on his big date. I think he's had more dates than those two combined, but it was still very sweet.

I got a kick out of how Eva, in full impactada mode, still managed to gently lay down her tray before running to meet Ruth. I really hope she gets to tell her the truth, but suspect it will be a while.

As for today, I was surprised Juan didn't start beating up Manolo and destroying furniture when he heard about the night of Livia's demise. Maybe he's mellowing out in his old age. That and they all realize a) they meant no harm and b) it was mostly Hortensia's fault. I know violence is wrong, but it was kind of funny to watch her beating her sons (who practically double her size) and them just taking it. It's a cultural thing, you just don't raise your hand to your mom, even if she's hitting you with her chanclas.

Caray, it's just Wednesday and I'm already behind--so far this week I've only had a chance to watch the Monday episodes, but like everyone else I really enjoyed the scene with Oscar and Juan trying to give Franco dating advice, especially when Oscar tried to fix Franco's hair while saying something along the lines of "when are you ever going to learn to comb your hair?" And didn't Juan also suggest that Franco stand Sarita up, as though he was afraid Franco going on the date and possibly doing something stupid would jeopardize his and Oscar's chances of reuniting with Norma and Jimena? I'm not sure if I understood that part correctly, but I loved his sheepish response when Oscar pointed out that that would probably make things worse. Like Anya said, I really love the brothers' interactions. I wonder how the actors get through scenes like this without laughing.

The scene w/Franco and Sarita outside the restaurant after the attempted shooting was really sweet too.

Oh that crazy Memo! I can just see the day players for this episode looking at the script and wondering if they were actually doing "Star Trek." You know, the only guy on the away team that wasn't a principal. Once they added the song (I think it went something like "Adios para siempre amigo") I just couldn't stop howling.

So my pony came in late. I knew Olegario would end up at the RRR (Reyes Refuge Ranch). Now the question is: Was grandpa right about his fling with Dominga or was that all in that pickled and aged (and fun-loving and wisecracking) brain of his? If it was the later, Quintina might just be getting some action for a change. I loved her telling the fruit bros that he may not uber hawt, but she'd still pick him over them ;)

Howdy Juanchas ;)

Just an FYI to those who watch on You Tube, today was just a one hour episode, so that put us on about episode 95 or so for tomorrow.

Take care,
M

Just one hour today (Thursday)? I hope that doesn't continue!

It would be very sweet for Quintina had un novio.
Eva needs one, too. She's been alone toooo loooong.

Jimena's jealousy of Ruth is too ridiculous. It's so evident that Oscar only wants Jimena, and if she can't trust him, she should divorce him hoy dia!

The Rosario/Armando thing bores me. I'm all about watching Juan, and couldn't care less about anyone outside the Reyes' circle of loved ones and friends.
