Pasión de Gavilanes, Mon., July 28, Pepita makes a shocking announcement; Conchita crashes the party
Óscar and Jimena don't have to say goodbye any more.
Rosario goes to get lessons on how to be evil from Dínora.
So Pepita is preggers. I know that the actress was really pregnant and they just wrote it into the story. Can't wait to see how they deal with who the father is.
A very nice party for Jimena. She was gorgeous in that white dress. It was funny to see Benito trailing after Quintina when she was carrying food and her trying to make him go away. Juan didn't look like he wanted Benito at the party either.
Nice scene with Martín and Melissa getting reacquainted.
Tomorrow it looks like Carmela is going to try and harm Juan David. Maybe Juan will come over and get Norma and his son out of there.

Goodness; love was certainly in the air at the 'Welcome Jimena' party. My title for this episode was, “It’s Our Party and We’ll Mash If We Want To”. As much as I love our sextet of protagonists, I found myself thinking they should all just retreat to their respective bedrooms and get on with it. ;-)
Concha again with a gun! I couldn’t believe that armed sentinel just let her walk away with his rifle. (I bet there’s one less employee at the Reyes ranch come morning.) I did get a kick out of Olegario’s face after Quintina’s little speech about how there was nothing worse than a two-timing man. :-)
So Pepita is pregnant. This likely blows my theory about her harboring/helping Martín in the future, but I guess it’s not out completely out of the question. To be honest, I think I was less surprised by her pregnancy than I was by the fact that she sang a new song at Bar Alcalá in the episode. Thank heavens SOMEONE is bringing us new material these days… I had to laugh at the scene with Panchita & the band in rehearsal. Don’t they know this stuff by now? I know all the songs by heart & I’m not on stage singing them every night!! Why Pepita thought it would be fun to tease Rosario with the “what if the baby is Armando’s” idea is beyond me. As a little girl, she probably pulled dogs' & cats' tails just for fun.
I, too, got a kick out of watching Martín and Melissa getting reacquainted. I’d forgotten they’d not seen each other before this.
The party was nice, especially seeing Juan and Norma dancing. But of course they had to serve alcohol at it, and I would want to chastise everybody for drinking, including Oscar and Jimena, and especially Martin and Melissa. I saw Juan sipping some wine but I wouldn't be able to say anything to him because I would faint if he so much as glanced in my direction.
It will be interesting to see who is the father of Pepita's baby. And yes, Marie--I was surprised, too, that she sang a new song!
Thanks to Jean for her regular posts and the awesome pics!
I laughed when they introduced Jimena's horse as "Presumida" (arrogant, boastful) when the bridle (I think that's what they're called) said "Secretaria" (Secretary). And with those names, shouldn't she have been referred to as a "yegua" (mare)? Just a thought...
Marie Celeste, Pancha didn't actually say Armando was the baby daddy. Rather, she said that she'd never seen Pepa with a boyfriend. She'd suspected she'd had something with Armando, but that was when Rosario was running around with Franco and Armando was a free man. Still, I agree she shouldn't be poking the bear!
Rosario has a lot of nerve getting all pissy about Pepita (nothing happened anyway) and Dino (just a kiss) when she's been shagging every breathing male in town, and I'm glad Armando has pointed that out. Off course, he was quick to forget he gave her permission to shag every male in town, as long as it wasn't Franco and it was never the same guy twice, when he started discussing with Memo the possibility of having her followed again. Those two slimeballs deserve each other. I must say, I'm very afraid of what dirty tricks Dino will be teaching Rosi...
Marie Celeste, I had the exact same thought when the Reyes "guard" just handed his rifle over to Concha. That boy has no business in sentinel duty.
I have a bizarre idea about Pepita's baby daddy: Up until about 2-4 months ago, Pepita actually got along with evil Fernie. What if they had a quick roll in the hay? She did say it would shock everyone, and this would certainly fit the bill.
What is wrong with Norma???!!! She even had a nightmare about Carmela drowning her, and we know all the dreams in this TN have all sorts of meaning. She needs to pack up her kid and get the heck out of dodge; especially now that she's seen her mom is still taking Carmela's side.
The idea of Fern as the baby daddy is just too creepy. I hope it’s not true, for the poor baby’s sake.
I also noted the horse’s name on the bridle, but didn’t have a disconnect between that & what Jimena said. Guess I figured she might have been using ‘presumida' as an adjective & not necessarily as a name, or it was just a borrowed bridle. Incidentally, I don’t remember how she referred to the horse in this scene, but she did refer to it as a ‘yegua’ when she was arguing with Fernando about giving her to Rosario to ride.
Speaking of a disconnect: I don’t object to responsible alcohol use, but I can’t reconcile the image of the Reyes boys as wine drinkers, especially Juan. Beer? Definitely. Tequila? Likely. But wine? Every time I see one of them with a long-stemmed glass, it just doesn’t compute. I try to picture it: After a hard day’s work in the office and the stables, they come home, grab a shower, and kick back with a nice Chateau Margaux? Not these guys. ;-)
I don’t know if it happened today or yesterday, but the scene with Norma & Grandpa talking with Juan David just relaxing on Grandpa's chest is absolutely priceless. Lots of great potential screen shots, there, Jean. ;-)
Poor Juan with no girl at the fair.
I don't know why Melissa and Leandro keep taking Benito out with them. After insulting his companions a few times, I'd leave him home.
Rosario must have ridden back home from the fair on somebody's lap. There were 4 musicians and Memo in that small SUV. Add Rosario and you've got one crowded car.
Juan David was so cute lying on abuelo. I'll swap out Conchita for one of that.
Thanks for the photos, Jean. Very sweet.
