Thursday 7-3 Enemiga: Sara's lips turn a darker shade of brown - evil is just overrated today

Sara just discovered that our Barbi is diddling another, and she proclaims that Barb better stay good to her. Smirk.

At breakfast Vasco is rambling on about carbon out put and global warming to a deaf audience. Vasco wants to talk to Lorena but Sara says nope, she doesn’t work there any more.

We then see Lorena getting turned down for a job that clearly was promised to a friend of the lady there.

Sara kissing ass. Sara explains that even though Lorena is her bestest bud on the planet, Horty is right and Lore was wrong. Vasco wants her phone number then, and Sara says no because then she’ll think that you are going to intercede on her behalf. Horty says yes, my decision is irreversible.

Barbi then joins them explaining she was on the phone with a friend of hers who never shuts up. Sara gives a nice smirk at that. Mama wonders why Vasco broke up with Mariana and why she didn’t hear it from him first. She also warns Sara to keep her friend Lore away from her son. Vasco says they have nothing in common and it was Mariana’s idea to break up, so stop busting my balls and he leaves the table.

Omar asks to speak with Snorty alone. She doesn’t want him to side with Lorena. He says it’s something else. When they get alone he says that Carla the ex novia and daughter of the senator called and saw Omar as a mechanic. She pities him, but he deserved it.

Back at Zulema we hear an ad for diets. She doesn’t want it turned off. She feels fat. ( She looks fat too.) Anyway, she says she needs to go on a diet and Julian tells her, yeah a diet of 10 tacos, tamales, and 10 tlacoyos con frijoles and so forth. He says diet or no diet, you look beautiful.

Vasco offers Sara a ride on his bike, but she says no thanks, she’ll go in the nice leather seated beemer. Vasco asks if Sara was just saying all that crap to please Snorty, or did she really believe Lorena deserved it. She says unfortunately, yes, Lorena screwed up. Sara says anyway she got a scholarship from the cooking school so probably can’t do both anyway. Vasco is happy that she’ll at least be occupied.

Self loathing by Zulema. Her hubby won’t touch her so she has to lose weight and be like she was before. She cries that she is old. Well, crap we all will be or are. If you find a secret, please let us know.

Lorena happens upon a puppet show. A learning experience it is, because the little girl puppet has no money or a roof over her head and doesn’t know what she is going to do, she feels she's at the bottom of the pit. The old man tells her she’s only reached bottom if she can’t be any higher. That’s not her case, so she should smile because soon she’ll be in place very happy. In life certain things are written, one just has to know how to read them. Lore smiles. Just then she gets the call from Alonso and is happier already.

Sara kissing ass in the car. She likes Vasco, and would have liked to work with him. She says she wants to learn everything and show her aunt that she is the height of responsibility, etc. Jaime asks if she is happy with them and she says of course she only hopes not to let them down.

Lore goes to visit him in the hospital and helps him give an injection to a little boy, distracting him while he fears pain from the shot. Now he’s a good little actor. Wouldn’t happen here of course, couldn’t have a random helping a doc! Anyway... they have a chat about how glad she was she saw him today because it changed how it was going, and that Vasco helps her to feel happy too. Alonzo gets jealous, she tells him very nicely not to be, she has eyes only for him, and if Vasco ever wants more she’ll be the first to put on the brakes. He’s sorry, he just doesn’t want to ever her lose her.

At the office, more ass kissing, this time to Jaqui. Sara tells her she’s sorry she was rude the other day and that Jaqui is very important to the business and that her aunt says she has much to learn from her. This surprises Jaqui. Sara wants to start over with her and shakes on it after Jaqui agrees.

Horty goes to taste the dishes, and she is introduced to the new chef, who says she’s a legend, but she says that’s something fictitious and she’s very real. What’s your name. Maruja speaks up and tells her, and she hopes he remembers recipes better than his own name. She likes everything mostly this time except adds a little something before it’s just right.

Ass kissing again, this time the cooking staff, when Sara tells them they did good work and they are a first class team. Maruja consoles the guy that he did a great job because Snorty didn’t ask him to do it over at least! She likes Sara coming with, better than pouty Jaqui, and hopes she’ll come always.

Lorena has to look for work. Alonso wants to help her, even marry her. She thinks it’s too soon for something so serious. He thinks it’s serious too, but ok, he’ll settle for introducing her to his crazy loudmouth sister and the rest of his family she hasn’t met.

Horty is telling Jaime that they have to win the competition because the business they would get is worth millions.

Diana stops a vendor on the street and asks if he has cut limes, he’s sorry, but he doesn’t. She has such a craving, but oh well, she gets in a cab and goes off. Vasco waves an unrequited good bye to Diana.

At the apartment of the three women, boyfriend Julian shows up and gets a cold shoulder. Mama snidely tells him that he should call her Maruja instead of Dona Maria Eugenia.

Diana comes back to the office to find a basket of cut limes at her desk. Vasco peers around the wall as she wonders who got them for her.

There is a screaming fight in the kitchen between mother and daughter and Maruja almost hyper ventilates herself trying to calm down from hearing Julian’s name.

Barbi wants Lipo suction. Hubby thinks she looks great for her age, she says he just doesn’t want to pay the bill. He caves and tells her do what makes her happy. Of course she loves that, and him, and turns around and calls Arturo to say she has the money. How pathetic.

Sara wants a students’ ID card forged by our resident forger, Chalo’s friend. There’s that dress again. Still has the ribbon attached this time.

Lorena is meeting with Zulema and Julian and they are toasting with horchata to their new association. She can’t pay Lorena much though, but she is getting more business as people keep recommending her.

Sara is impressed with the forger’s work, a little ass kissing here.

Barbi tells Arturo she got the money and it was hard work to get her hubby to drop it in her account. In exchange, Ickturo offers himself as a slave for the day. Blech.

Snorty is telling Jaime how important the contract with Trans America Airlines is because they might get into work for all the airlines.

Ass kissing at the competitor. Sara shows up to the competitor with her false credentials as a student for a tour and maybe to intern designing projects. They are impressed with her school and the guy points to where the projects department would be and that they are running around crazy with preparing a proposal for Trans America Airlines. Smirk.

Lorena is over with Zuli and Julian cooking and they agree to give her a percentage of the earnings, which she thinks is great. She and Zuli end up tasting food the same way, both thinking it’s great except needs a little cilantro. She is happy that there, they are laughing with music instead of being terrorized like at her old post.

Vasco rides up on his sexy Ferrari, er, bicyle and tries to talk to Diana by asking her how long she’s worked here, and doesn’t she just love the work the company does for the environment etc. She says she’s just there for the work, and even though she knows this stuff is important she has other things to think about. He wonders if she has a problem and her answer is that her taxi has arrived. He says bye. Where the heck does this girl go all the time with the taxis? If she's there for the work, why isn't she working????

Sara tells Snorty of her fruitful afternoon implicating the business in industrial espionage but doin’t worry she has it all under control. Barbi walks in surely post tryst, and Snorty says her son has been looking for her all afternoon. She says she was playing canasta with some friends and Sara thiks to herself she’s not the only one who knows how to lie, because of course this chick was with her lover.

Lorena goes back to the apartment and tells the gals how much she enjoyed working with Zulema, and she stands up for Julian because there is no way with such a great Mom that he’s a bad guy. He’s sweet and he helps out his Mom, and works hard. He’s a great guy. She actually misses the food at Snorty’s and her friends. They agree they would have made a great team.

Zuli tells her hubby that Lorena is someone she feels she’s known her whole life. Hubby tells her what luck she has that Julian brought her home.

Al tells his family he wants them to dine and meet Lorena tomorrow. They agree and tease him a little. Pa likes her.

Horty tells Jaime that she’s not surprised that he has no good ideas. She thinks the need young blood who is full of new ideas, and he says Vasco is a lost cause. She says what Sara accomplished. He gets mad that he’s worked for ever so hard and she never gave him his due. He thinks Omar needs to know that his daughter never died and that she’s here.

Snorty warns him that if he opens his mouth he’s buying his ticket to the grave, besides he helped her get rid of the child too.

Love chat between Omar and Zuli, until she self loathes again because he gives her a nice kiss but doesn’t want to jump her bones.

Lore pays the gals for the digs with some money she got from Zuli. Rossy thinks this must mean that Julian earned something too. Mama thinks she will end up supporting him someday. Rossy tells her not to judge that he works and she doesn’t even know. They fight and Lorena suggests that Rossy could use some psych visits too.

Fam getting ready for dinner excited to meet Lore and they never saw Al so infatuated.

Lore is yawning in car. He worries she’s bored already before meeting them, but she says no, that she studied late last night.

They get to the house and meet the family. Exchange of niceties. So far so good.

Back at the environmental company, Diana sneaks up on Vasco placing another basket and says she would have suspected anyone but him and thanks him for the limes. He says he heard her talking about them. She thanks him and learns his last name is Armendariz, which sounds familiar to her. He confirms his G-Ma is the banquet queen. Diana receives this news with reserved enthusiasm.

The family cheers and gives Lorena a ten.

Vasco wonders if he said something wrong, and Diana just didn’t imagine him to be the grandson of someone so famous and she just saw her on TV, he says yeah probably for the night of stars dinner.

My dress again! Sara shows up at Velasquez but can’t be attended by the guy. She says she’ll wait even though he might be a while and yes, kisses a little more ass telling him he's an amor.

Al shows Lore a picture of his Mom while his Pa snores away really convincingly in the background. She remarks that at least he has memories but she knows nothing of hers. Lorena wants to find her family, and Al offers to chauffeur her to her Pueblo to see if anyone at the orphanage knows anything.

Sara waits, and tries to look around, but doesn’t get far. She waits and we see the clock pass three hours until the people in the office she had her eye on, leave. Her lips are getting dry. Finally she runs in.

Sara makes very devious faces as she puts a jump drive into someone’s computer. Of course she found exactly what she needed within 10 seconds. I know the stuff on my computer and I can’t even find my own projects in ten seconds.

Snorty is yelling at Jaime again when Sara runs in and says she has everything needed to destroy her competition. There is actually a real smile that breaks through Horty's mask.

Aren't you the wicked one! After the 8th ass-kissing comment I finally "got" the meaning of the title.

I'll be smiling all the way down on the long ride to Charlotte, "K". Thanks for a great sendoff, you bad bad bad girl.

There was more humor in this one, thank God. The night before was just awful.

We were all so surprised that the skinny actress playing the mother of the crazy on that other telenovela (can't remember name)
had gained so much weight....I guess now it's just padding so she can "lose" it on her diet.

Thanks, k! Sara is such a devilish delight to watch in action. So much web-weaving deceiving that I am going to love watching her get her just "desserts" when she gets caught in the end. >8 ? 9

Ok. So this bit with Omar is supposed to prepare us for a PSA on male midlife crisis and a Viagra pitch or what? // Loved Alonso's little bursts of jealousy, but in real life he would start my danger antennae rotating. //Maruja is definitely my favorite character and carries this show IMHO. Thanks to her I now get to relive my kids' teenage years vicariously. ¡Hijole!

Cakes, I thought you might have kids based on your comments about Julian...spoken like a true lioness.

Kris, what a perfect title, so much ass-kissing going on last night. The actress playing Sara is really wonderful, I just love to loathe her. I'm already starting to think up appropriate demises for the evil characters in this one. Barbara gets lipo-ed to death (anyone remember Edwina's lipo nightmare in Ab Fab?), Granny falls into a vat of ice cream and her face freezes forever but nobody notices, and I haven't thought of a good enough punishment for Sara because I know she has more tricks up her sleeve.

Thanks Kris! What a fun and funny recap and a great way to start the day. Happy 4th of July!!

Thanks for the recap K. That Sara is something; I agree with Jardinera that watching her comeuppance will be quite fun.

I'm impressed by her efficiency. Sara can do more bad stuff in one hour than some people can manage in a lifetime.

I'd recommend death by meatgrinder for her, but that's probably too gruesome. Anyway, I predict her death will be a murder, rather than by accident.

Either that, or she finds her real parents, who are thrilled to meet her, and she totally reforms herself and becomes a nun who runs an orphanage. :)

Thanks for the awesome recap K ;) That's a mighty appropriate title. LOL.

As usual I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I wanted to get my dos centavos in on two lil' things:

1) "sin oficio ni beneficio" is actually a little harsher than just saying someone's unemployed. It literally means: without trade or advantage - along the lines of being a "bueno para nada" (good for nothing). Julian is quite self deprecating, much like his mom who is going through a massive bout of insecurity.

2) I have to agree with Jardinera's theory that Omar's reason for not performing his husbandly duties (it looks like it's been a while by how down in the dumps Zuli is about it) is good old ED. My guess is he's not telling his wife because a) he doesn't think it's that important in the grand scheme of things and b) no way he can afford a urologist at the moment. I hope it's just something a little rest and Viagra can fix, but considering the man is barely in his fifties, I wonder if it's a symptom of something worse - either cardiac issues or prostate cancer (how's that for a PSA??!!). It would suck if they killed him off too soon, but that is my fear unless he gets a check up soon.

On another note, I think we can all breathe a collective sigh about Vasco having lascivious thoughts for his first cousin. It looks like he's actually into his step-cousin Diana, but that's ok 'cause they share no DNA. I can just see it in my head...she tells him she's pregnant, convinced he'll run for the hills. He turns right around and says that along with global warming, he has strong views on father figures and wants to be one for her kid. He might freak for a second, but he'll be a good guy. I just hope Bruno's lapsing in and out of having a conscience doesn't throw a monkey wrench into things.

Hhhhmmm, bad things happening to Sara...a virus hits her computer, exposing a bunch of shady deals and sending her off to prison, and she can't get a girlfriend to protect her 'cause they all see how mean she is. She gets assigned all the menial tasks by day, and the occasional beatings by night. Too violent? We'll keep mulling on that one...

Kris, thanks for the great recap! I chuckle at you talking about your dress. You both have good taste, apparently, you and Sara.

“At breakfast Vasco is rambling on about carbon out put and global warming to a deaf audience.” What? There was sign language? I missed it! ;-)

“She feels fat. ( She looks fat too.)” That work-out suit was the colmo. It looked terrible. Obviously this is going to play into some plot line beyond just going on a diet.

For all the evil Sara did the day before, she’s doing some “good” in this episode with buttering up the kitchen team, Jaime, etc. That ought to get them all off her scent.

“Diana comes back to the office to find a basket of cut limes at her desk. Vasco peers around the wall as she wonders who got them for her.” This must be Jaime’s influence. Clearly this isn’t inherited from Snortensia or Barb to be this nice.

“Snorty warns him that if he opens his mouth he’s buying his ticket to the grave, besides he helped her get rid of the child too.” That sounds distinctly like a threat to put a contract out on her own son. Tsk, tsk.

“Sara makes very devious faces as she puts a jump drive into someone’s computer. Of course she found exactly what she needed within 10 seconds. I know the stuff on my computer and I can’t even find my own projects in ten seconds.” ROTFL! Exactly! I have to do numerous searches to find my stuff.

“Aren't you the wicked one! After the 8th ass-kissing comment I finally "got" the meaning of the title.” ROTFL, JudyB and Kris! I didn’t get it until you pointed it out, JudyB.

Jardinera, that’s exactly what I thought about Omar and mid-life crisis. PSA time.

“I'd recommend death by meatgrinder for her, but that's probably too gruesome. Anyway, I predict her death will be a murder, rather than by accident.” So, Julie, Lorena will probably be blamed, right? Sara’s final vengeance against Lorena?

Jeanne
