Pasión de Gavilanes, Thurs., August 7, Many people have plans for Juan and Norma's wedding

It was all lead up to the big wedding in today's episode. But first, look what turned up on Doña Bárbara - Juan's truck. It's been cleaned up but it looks like the same vehicle.

Very sweet scene when Juan comes to ask Abuelo to lead Norma up the aisle. Here is Juan telling Abuelo that he is important to them.

and Juan and Don Martín embracing after he agreed to do it. Even Grabiela was moved by this gesture.

Rosario runs into Franco and Sarita at Leandro's shop. Good thing she wasn't packing heat this time.

Dínora practices for her plan to stop Juan and Norma from getting married.

The unholy glee of Malcom and Carmela as they destroyed Abuelo's uniform that means so much to him was really disgusting.

Great pictures as always, Jean! I caught a glimpse of Juan’s truck on Dona Barbara (which I do NOT want to get started watching—I’m finally down to one telenovela, this one!). Nice they could put it to good use.

Did you catch yesterday’s episode where Norma spent her first night with Juan since moving in? Wow! That was my idea of a love scene! All the right moves! So romantic! The way he looked at her, that intense stare, so hunky. And then climbing on top of her, oh oh oh. (Okay, calm down Cindy. Remember you are old enough to be his mother.)

Btw, this has probably already been mentioned, but in case anyone doesn’t know about it, there is a great site called Juan y Norma with tons of screen caps of all the kisses, stares, cuddles and lovey-dovey stuff, along with wallpapers, banners, pics of Juan David, etc. This would be a spoiler site, because it includes shots of scenes we haven’t seen yet. But there are some really good pictures, including a bunch from yesterday’s love scene (which I taped, thank goodness!).

I agree that was disgusting when the evil staff were ruining Martin’s uniform. That’s what I mean about this show being rather extreme, what with them laughing maniacally and all. Also, I know I’ve ranted about this before, but I couldn’t help but think how Martin didn’t think twice about wearing his uniform to the “hoochie bar” with half-naked women gyrating around and where they SELL women and where he slapped women’s butts and got raving drunk, and then said he would do it all again if he could! If Fernando behaved that way he would have been seen as the most disgusting creature on earth, and I can’t even imagine what they would say if Juan did anything like that. But Grandpa does it and he is “cute” and “having fun” and everybody just loves him. But yes, it is really sad they ruined his uniform, and I dread to see how he reacts to the loss. And I’m sure Malcom and Carmela will get away with it.

Howdy =)

Thanks for the shots Jean, and for pointing out Juan's truck, I totally missed it. Another funny thing, is that Barbara's horse is named "Capricho" (caprice, whim) like Juan's horse in FelS. I don't think they did it on purpose since in an interview she mentioned that was the horse's actual name (he's temperamental, but she's managed to stay on so far, even when he thought it would be great fun to stand on his hind legs). A lot of folks from Madre Luna, LT, Victoria, and Zorro in this one. I was a little surprised how quickly some of them crossed over, but maybe they shot their scenes in the others a little early (the guy that played Andres in LT did a few episodes in "Paraiso," and turned right around and will probably be a regular in Barbara). No rest for the weary ;)

Back to the one we're all watching, I share in your outrage over Carmela burning Martin's uniform, and can't get over the fact she got away with it, even when Gabi realized it had to have been done on purpose. I just knew they would turn to Leandro for help. No clue how he got the material so quickly!

I was also outraged when Raquel's friends started thinking another tragedy would occur to prevent this wedding (like when he was kidnapped) and actually laughed about it! Talk about schadenfreude! Here's hoping Juan and Norma manage to dodge the bullet (literally) of Dinora's attack.

From Friday's episode:
I thought the boys were pretty dismissive of Ruth's dream considering that her dreams about Libia were right on when Juan was kidnapped. However, it didn't seem really necessary to change the church, they could simply have hired some guards outside the church.

Didn't Carmela burn the pants of Abuelo's uniform as well? Carmela's story about the employee who was suddenly called away from her ironing would only explain one burn, not several.

Leandro was so cute as a delivery man. I love how he always says Santa Cachucha and how he he called his emergency team to fix Abeulo's uniform.

These episodes are among my favorites to date, if not of the entire telenovela. Again, I got such a kick out of little Gabriela García in the scene where Jimena and Ruth are helping Norma put her things away after arriving at the Reyes place. Her playing with Norma’s clothes and saying “¡Mámi!” was just too sweet. Our little actress is now improvising her dialogue! (Ok, so she said it to Ruth and not Norma, but who’s perfect?) ;-)

The scene with Juan asking Don Martín to give Norma away at the wedding is so touching it almost makes me cry; I watch it over and over. I love the dynamic between these two. It almost transcends time in that their deep mutual admiration makes me think that if they had both been born in the same time period that they’d have been great friends, in spite of the fact that they’re quite opposite personalities.

Jean: “¡Santa Cachucha!” is my new favorite interjection. ;-) I'll just have to remember never to use it near any Argentines. ("Cachucha" is slang for female gentalia in Argentina, but is a baseball cap in Mexico, Venezuela and Colombia. Go figure.)

I too loved Leandro as the laundry delivery man. The checking his look in the truck’s rear-view mirror before he got out was hysterical. Then when he “beefed up” his walk & posture before heading up to the house, I nearly died laughing. I’ve never seen this actor before PDG (Sebastián Boscán), so it makes me wonder what his story is. If he’s not gay, then he’s doing a bang-up job with this gay character. One of my favorite bloopers from the show is a scene where Juan picks up Leandro by his lapels & starts to push him around a bit. Sebastián allows himself to be tossed around so much that Leandro just flops around like a rag doll, causing both Mario Cimarro & Michel Brown to break up in the scene. Too funny.

Jean, in the same way that you have no patience with Carmela & Malcolm smirking at each other, but what trips my trigger is Carmela referring to her bosses as Don “Fernandito” and Doña “Gabrielita”. The pouty inflection she uses causes the syllables to pop out of her mouth like a whiny, spoiled little kid. (Not too far off the mark, actually…)

I'm assuming the wedding happened last Friday, but I don't want to post any comments till I'm sure. All I will say is it was so lovely. I don't think I've ever seen a more handsome bridal couple than Juan & Norma. Norma was very likely the most beautiful bride I've ever seen; her dress, hair and makeup were absolutely perfect for her, simple, classic and elegant. (Fantastic job by the wardrobe department, on most counts anyway. I don't know what they were thinking with Jimena's outfit, though. That extremely scooping neckline struck me as inappropriate wedding attire, but just my opinion.)

I know the brothers were ticked off at the last minute change of location and it must have cost them big bucks in lost preparations, but I think the chapel was a better site anyway - more intimate & simple, which seems more Juan & Norma's style to begin with. Just lovely.

Hi Marie Celeste-
The wedding will be today, I assume. We only had 1 hour episodes all last week and Friday's ended before the wedding.
I'm looking forward to it.

Yes, I hate Carmela's simpering Doña Gabrielita/Fernandito, too.

Yes, Leandro is a wonderful character and acting job. I love the way he pulls his hair back with a hairband at night. Someone on TW posted a picture of him with very curly hair that they said was natural so it must have been a job to make it straight the way it is in PdG.

Hi Jean,
Interesting about Leandro’s hair being naturally curly. The fact that it’s been processed straight would explain why it always seems to be hanging a little stiffly. I can’t imagine him with curly hair; I’ll have to check out the TW site and see.

Help! Sorry, first, good afternoon. Then, Help! I missed about 20 minutes of today's (Monday) episode 'cause my tape ran out before I got back from my allergy shot (snif). Do you guys know what the episode numbers were on this one? I lost count, and am afraid of accidentally looking too far ahead.

Re Sebastian Boscan (Leandro) - He had his natural dark curly hair in Madre Luna. In it, he played the town barber who was married, but still hitting on our oft chased heroine. He also wore the most ridiculous mustache (think Salvador Dali).

Wasn't little GG (Gabriela Garcia) adorable in her baby JD tux?

Got a kick out of Juan as he refused to get a hair cut, and then as he told the priest he didn't need to ask those things (the whole love, cherish, etc). Did nobody tell him that's what they do during marriage vows? I just loved the fruit brothers leading the wedding motorcade by flanking the car with Norma in it, and then the horses at the rear ;)

Hi Margarita: The wedding was mostly episode 150 on You Tube. The second hour may have been episode 151. I didn't see the last 10 minutes or so before I had to go back to work and the last I saw, Dínora was heading into the swamp.

Yes, the big baby Juan with his hair. I thought for a while he wasn't going to button up his shirt. And the little baby JD was so cute.

I will post pictures tonight.

Jean, fantastic as always! I haven't been able to watch most of this telenovela. A new change in schedule will give me more flexibility and I'll be able to watch!

Also, thanks to Margarita for mentioning Dona Barbara. It looks good - I just wish we were recapping it...
