El Cuerpo del Deseo, Wed., Sept. 24 - A peasant is resurrected from the dead and turns into a genius and a hunk - film at 11!

Walter keeps going into the study searching for a safe that Pedro had and he keeps being caught in there. He gives unconvincing reasons for being there.

A TV crew shows up to find out about Salvador's story. The sheriff wants to be famous by producing Salvador but the priest and the doctor sneak PJ/S out of the hospital.

Antonio and Simón help Ángela protect her inheritence. They first go to see the lawyer that Gaetana recommends but he doesn't inspire confidence.

PJ/S takes refuge at Lilia's house. He is still upset and depressed because he doesn't know what happened to him and why he is with strangers. At one point, he says that he would rather be dead than his current situation.

Isabel spends every night with Andrés. She tells Andrés that she doesn't want to go back to the Donoso house where everyone hates her. Andrés says that they have to follow through with their plan. Isabel tells Valeria that she was raped when she was a child by an old guy. So she doesn't like old guys but she made an exception for PJ.

Lilia shaves the beard off of PJ/S. She asks how he likes his new look and he says that isn't his face.

The shirts of Lilia's dead husband don't fit PJ/S so he is shirtless again and Lilia is flustered. She tells PJ/S that she wants to help him. He tells her that until recently he was a 70 year old man. She doesn't believe it, of course, and PJ/S says he doesn't understand it either so the only explanation is that he is crazy.

Finally! The beard comes off. I must confess that I didn't quite like this look at first but it sort of grew on me. Looks like Lilia's the first of a long line of women to be smitten by Salvador's body. But hey, who wouldn't;).

I didn't like Mario with the goatee either when I saw clips of this novela but as you say, it grows on you. Maybe it's that each step in the procession has been a little better: Neanderthal to Jesus to whatever you want to call this one.

That Lilia character is one I could have played; a crazed, middle-aged woman flinging herself at Salvador? No acting required! Just be myself! Lol. Actually I wouldn't be so bold--I'd probably faint in his presence.

I haven't minded the facial hair as much as I thought, either. He looks good no matter what.

There were MORE caption problems today on Telemundo Chicago--arrrggghhh! They only worked for the first half hour and then nothing. Jjablan over at TW has done some transcripts, thank goodness.

Sorry you are having caption problems, Cindy. If you have questions about anything that happened, let us know and we'll help out.

I noticed that Lilia has spiced up her wardrobe after taking PJ/S in - shorter skirts and a younger hair style.

Jean, I noticed the same about Lilia's wardrobe. I hope we've seen the last of the nurse; she was beginning to get creepy.

Speaking of...Tia Rebeca is really starting to get on my nerves. Her cloying personality is annoying, and the way she hyper-enunciates actually makes her harder to understand than if she just spoke normally. I’m going on record with my suspicion that after Nina was booted from the mansion, she met with foul play by Rebeca’s hand and that’s why Isabel hasn’t heard from her since she left. Time will tell…

I’m feeling so bad for poor Cantalicia & son in all this. I hope once PJ/S gets himself re-established he helps them somehow, but I’m not holding my breath.

I LOVED the interrogation scene the other day. I haven’t laughed enough since this show started & that scene was much appreciated. I’m still not sure if he spelled otolaringología or otorhinolaringología correctly, though. I keep replaying that shot but can’t catch a clear enough glimpse of the flip chart to see the whole word. I’ll scrutinize it some more before I’m happy. ;-)

Jean, you were correct; it was me that mentioned Mario’s training regime for this telenovela, but I didn’t remember any particulars so I hit YouTube to find the interview where he discussed it. Rather than starve himself, he had to actually eat a lot and often, which was what I had remembered. For 4 months prior to shooting, he worked with a personal trainer that dictated his exercise (lots of PAIN!) and diet regimen. Every 3 hours he had to eat; specific amounts of low-fat, high-protein sources, and no carbs after 4 pm everyday. (I’ll have to remember that one. :-) He said he eased up once the show progressed & he got to cover up more, but he still maintained a healthy eating routine. If you’re curious, the interview is one of the better ones I’ve seen out there. It’s from a talk show in Argentina, “Susana”, and is in 3 segments on YouTube. Here’s the first one; I think the diet discussion is in Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og3tU4OKhng

For those who didn’t care for the goatee initially, looks like you have Lilia to blame. I wonder if her dead husband wore one? ;-) I’ve always liked the goatee, but I’d like it even better with a moustache, as he has it in his English-language film, “Rockaway”. (I hate to steer anyone away from Mario in English, but unless you’re a fan of extreme violence - with exploding heads and blood everywhere - pass on this film.) I actually really liked the Jesus look, so I’m a little sad to see it go, although it will ease my conscience by removing the source of some uncomfortable conflict! ;-)

I’m ready for PJ/S to stop raving and get a grip & figure out that he needs to contact Gaetana and figure out what the heck happened to him. I’m sure waking up in a new body would mightily disorient a person, but he’s a smart guy, and it shouldn’t take him long to figure out he traded up in the deal so it’s time to get out there and put it to advantage!

I've seen Rockaway. In fact I didn't really know who Mario was when I saw it because I'd just started seeing ECDD. Yes, there's a lot of blood and violence but overall, considering the budget and everything, it's not that bad. Plus, Mario's character is goofy at times which is fun to watch.

Speaking of movies, what's happening with Puras Joyitas? Where all has it been released so far?

Good question, cc. I can't find any evidence that it's ever been released in the US. May have to wait for it on DVD.
