This episode did not move things along much and was quite frustrating.

I have got to learn to separate myself from these characters.....

THANK YOU for the recap, serendipity. I recorded it, and may not bother to watch. You did a great job with it, and it was also entertaining. Probably more entertaining than the real thing.

Note to MJ: Stupid is as stupid does.

Useless may turn out to be useful, if he figures out what Bruno's marriage/murder/inheritance scheme was that kicked off this 'novela, and then thwarts or blackmails Bruno about it.

Bruno el sicko only wants MJ because Bruno wants whatever Alex has(the money, the job & title, the girl). Is he a sociopath or a psychopath? I don't know the difference. He's definitely a narcissist, I think.
 

Great reacap Dipity. Well, I guess we know for sure about Bobo and Useless. I would have rather seen more of the Chippendale guys. Those two are quite a team--NOT. Poor Pau. I think Pimp Daddy E is going to turn around and be a good character and possibly will be the undoing of Bruto--not a spoiler--just my opinion. He really does seem to care for Paula. In what capacity I'm not sure.

I liked Victoria's dress. Although it seemed a little warm for that time of year.

I liked EZ at first but now I just think he acts like a bit**. He's sure a gossipy old fart. I was hoping the dog would pee on him!

Eze was berating the maid for not cleaning the room very well, since he found the key under the bed, thankfully keeping MJ from her own stupidity.

A quick tip o' the hat to you, Dipity! Very nicely done. "Tsk-Tsk" is that irritating clucking sound El Bruto makes when he's harassing our dear MJ. She's fairly frozen from fright and reeling from morning sickness these days so I guess I'll give her a break on the slowfias. Buttlick is growing on me (as long as I can manage to squint past his garishly glowing wardrobe choices). --Ok, if we had any doubt at all about Bobo and Uli, there ain't nun now. Thank Gawd they spared us the lurid love nesting post-party split.

Gotta git now.

Darn, darn, darn. If only Useless hadn't told Phony Baloney to switch hotels the minute someone asked for him, and if only the front desk hadn't told Phony that a woman (Mari) called, maybe he wouldn't have already been packing when Alex came a'calling. Which would have given our boy more time to get in the room. Oh well, it was a treat seeing Al kick that door in with his fine form, anyway.

Wow, that dog DID need grooming--I didn't know it was really white and not gray. LOL! And before it ran across the kitchen to mess with Zeke, I was about to ask Felipa could the freakin' dog walk (seeing as she hauled it around practically everywhere). He's a cutie, though, especially when he sits up and begs.

An interesting and telling scene indeed--the Only Guys Need Apply party. Did you check out the beefcake in that room?? Good golly! The comment about Useless being slimy... right on. But not because he's bi. Rather, because he's on the down-low (I don't think he's told Raquel that he also sleeps with men, and that is a NO-NO. Anything but full disclosure between sexual partners is a betrayal). Raq deserves the right to decide if she wants to fool around with a guy based on her personal boundaries and who he really is. (If she already knows, then this is a moot point. I know Lis and RaMaura know, but Raq seems to be in the dark and it certainly doesn't seem like her cup of tea. Someone please chime in if she does indeed know Uli is bisexual.) That goes for Bobo, too, in his stirring of the female pot. JMHO.

I couldn't understand the end of Erick and El Bruno's conversation either, just like Dipity. I got that Bruno wanted to turn Paula in, and that Erick said with no damage to the car and with no dead body that wouldn't work... but the dialogue at the end there made no sense to me at all. ???

I LOVED the Celestun location shots. Breathtaking.

Well, how do you like that--all MJ had to do was break down in distress, and Alex practically fell over himself trying to make her feel better. She heard his humble words while pretending to be asleep, was whisked away on a marvelous, romantic, de-stressing trip by him, and even gave his hand a loving kiss because she was so happy with him... and I couldn't even enjoy it because she's STILL hiding crap and in fact one of those things (the hotel key) is going to blow everything to hell yet again tonight. I don't know what I've done to deserve this.

Erick looked so sad, hugging Paula there at the end.

Oh--the TN Awards will be televised on Sunday the 29th, for those of you who were furiously fastforwarding your recordings over parts of this episode and might have missed the commercial. I cannot wait!
 

Nice recap! Don't know how you can span your attention that long with all the crap with Useless. I certainly can't tolerate it for more than 10 minutes. Pat on the back for you. :-)

Just to add a little, when MJ and Alex were fighting in MJ's room, MJ said she wanted peace. And I think she added she felt completely alone. To this Alex says, don't say that, and she says he has his doubts in her. He hugs her, and then we're taken to the next scene.

I actually really felt sorry for her, guys. I mean I know I'm always condemning her, and that she brought it all on herself, but this phone call was really not something she had control over, and Alex was clouded with rage and jealousy. I'm wondering what else that Aguirre could've said to make Alex's suspicions stronger. This was the only time I actually found it suitable for her to bring up divorce, though of course that is still taking it too far.

Then again, on Alex's side, he noted her behaving extremely odd the whole day, and then she gets this phone call. It definetely looks bad from his percpective too. Got to give him credit for his willingness to apologize and make things up to MJ after every fight. Hearts in my eyes when I watch that guy. :-)
 

Stephe, I think we're all with you that hiding the key was really a dumb move. I did enjoy the scenery, nonetheless. How I wish I were in MJ's position sometimes...
 

You guys are right, this episode seems to be moving slowly, but i know it gets going soon! I would love for Alex or myboyfriend for that matter to bring me roses like that. He's a great guy but if a man that i loved asked me to go away and builted a house go for it MJ, she really needs to wake up! I don't think rachel knows about useless likes both sides or robert for that matter. Sometimes useless looks cute, but other times no! Robert seems like a whimp to me! Burno is just a bully and is very unhappy! I know i wanted to see more of the chipendale guys also LOL. Thanks for the recappers I look forward to reading them every am.

I really felt sorry for MJ too in the bedroom scene after the fight. She looked so defeated and tired. I'm sure the stress and the pregnancy sickness are compounding each other and making each thing worse. Thank goodness Alex took her away for a breather before the crap hits the fan tonight as shown in the previews.
So, was it implied that Useless had just had a fun night with Beto at his place when Raq called? If so, then that's just like the other day when Beto called him after he and Raq had just done the deed. Hmm...messing with both a husband and wife, and keeping it secret from both of them. I see trouble coming there.

I'm really big on dragons but that shirt on Pimp Daddy just wasn't doing it for me! He was very sweet with Paula but I can't decide in what capacity he likes her.

I can't decide if I like Bobo either. On the one hand he seems to care about Paula and MJ but on the other he participates in the plotting and scheming. Or at least I should say he is present at the plotting and scheming.

Thank you serendipity for the recap - some parts really had me trying not to laugh too much as I'm reading it at work. The part about MJ and Ale and the flamingos looking like they're having a good time! and You being mad about Paula not wanting to go to school - LOL! Useless has a lot of chutzpah to be sleeping with both husband and wife, whew! Seems dangerous to me, and somewhat ick.
I read these every day but don't often really have time to comment - thanks again, though, I really enjoy all the comments too.

Until last night I had my doubts about Roberto and Ulyses. Now, so what, except when Raquel finds out. We've all been asking what will happen when Raquel finds out about Roberto and Ulises. Even if she knows about Ulises' bi-life, I don't think she would ever suspect Roberto of the same. What about when Roberto finds out about Raquel and Ulises?

So far, Roberto has been a very likable character. He just might have a little integrity tucked away somewhere. Then again, he seems very interested in Paula, and that could go somewhere, maybe.

I think Bruno wanted Erik to come up with a body, supposedly hit by Paula. When Erik said that would be impossible, Bruno said then just get someone who's injured.

Of course, Erik doesn't want to do anything to hurt Paula. And that's gonna get him in trouble with Bruno. The guy who plays Erik has gotten killed on lots of other shows, so is it possible Bruno could, at some point down the road, do that to Erik? So far, Bruno hasn't killed anyone (although he's tried). But I have a feeling Bruno is so bad, that he's capable of even that.
 

I could see Bruno doing that Hombre. Especially if he thinks Erik will rat him out or get in his way.
 

The next time Bruno threatens MJ, would it be nice if she is overcome by a massive wave of morning sickness and she barfs all over him?

Big ick on the Roberto/Ulyses pairing. And I second Stephe's comment that it is not be cause they are Bi, but because of all the lies. Roberto seems to really have a thing for Useless, Raquel is using Useless as her is using her, but sleeping with both partners in a marriage with no agreements or truth telling—Shame on you, Ulysses.
I dislike these character's behavior not because of their sexual preferences but because of their choices. Do telenovelas have happy, well-adjusted gay or bi characters? I haven't been watching long enough to know.

As far as 'technical armchair diagnostics' goes for telenovela characters, Bruno is a narcissist and a whack-ass. Wink.
In real life someone as damaged as Bruno might have already been locked up by his rich, loving family. Poor folks who are mentally ill tend to be homeless.

I had been feeling some pleasant and curious anticipation about the impending romance between Vicky and Nando, but am changing my mind the more I watch them. Have to say that, it's not at all interesting and I'm not feeling the chemistry, if any. Nando just may not be able to carry this off with any believability.

Hate seeing MJ dig herself into more of a hole with every evasive answer and hidden truth. *Just tell Alex!!!* Bruno gives me the creeps every time he shows up.

Have both excitement and trepidation over seeing MJ's lookalike show up. We seem to be heading there.

Uli--"Oilslick" is just as bad (and probably smarter) than Bruno, so with two baddies at work, poor Alex will have his hands full and MJ's life will get even worse--and with morning sickness no less. Pobrecita de ella. But she's still bringing it on herself I say.

I agree that Bobo and Eric could still be the pivotal characters who pull the good guys' bacon out of the fire one of these days.

As Paula and Bruno argue, I always think that they would have made a cute couple, too bad they are on opposite sides.

As I rummage through bargin bins, I often see things like a sleeveless shirt with a dragon on it or a loud purple silky shirt and I always wonder, who would buy this stuff, now we know!

Back in the day I had a necklace like Victoria's, but mine said SANDY....I think I'll find it, have it melted and take the cash!
 

Elna, I can think of one TN that had a happy and well-adjusted gay guy. The TN was Barrera de Amor. I loved his character and the actor as well as the female lead.
 

Just got back from running errands, looking at the lake and visiting the cemetary with FIL. It has been interesting me being in the East and seeing all the leaves come down. Pretty Awesome. We have leaves in Utah, but it is a desert.

I kept switching over to Glee last night but did catch part of the scene where Alex and MJ have a talk in her room. Among other things, she tells him (again!) she doesn't want his money or any of the luxuries he can give her, she just wants peace. She deeply regrets the day she ever met Bruno and got involved with his horrible family. Alex keeps insisting that all he wants MJ to do is tell him the truth, but instead of screaming at him that she IS telling him the truth about Bruno and about not knowing any Mario Aguirre, she just cries some more. I think Alex must have said something about MJ protecting someone because there was also a point where MJ sobs that she is protecting her father and protecting Paula but nobody is protecting her -- she feels all alone. Alex is really sweet and says he is protecting her, but I don't think MJ believes he can -- and seeing how Bruno accosts her pretty much whenever he wants to, it's hard to blame her. Also, no matter what Alex says, he's still very hot and cold with MJ. One minute he's being all tender and loving and the next something sets him off again. I'm not blaming him, since he does have some justification -- he can sense she is hiding something from him. Still, his behavior isn't always reassuring, even for people who aren't all hormonal on top of suffering from Stupid Heroine Sufrida Syndrome.

Thanks, serendipity. Variopinto~Thank you for reminding me of Rhett's kicking down the door [to Scarlett's boudoir...heh]. So now we have had Al carrying MJ up the staircase [just like Rhett] and now kicking down a door. Carla might be a Gone with the Wind fan...like me. I wouldn't be at all surprised because Amor Real certainly had shades of GWTW in it. I dozed off last night and only saw parts of it. I did see Fernono, Al, and MJ on their field trip. What a beautiful locale...and all those happy flamingos ! It was nice to see Al and MJ smiling and relaxed for a change. Having endured morning sickness on several occasions without someone blackmailing me or crazy inlaws badmouthing me, I can feel sympathetic towards MJ. We all know that this is a novela , so there will be no logic applied to any situations that arise. I'm still hoping that Roberto o o will turn to the light. The thought of Useless being useful to both Raq and Rob ...well.... Bleccchhhh. I would be happy with an ending that paired Rob and Paula after Rob somehow found his integrity and ambition and Paula matured a bit and stopped the temper tantrums. We shall see.

About Vicki and Fernono, he looked kind of pathetic last night, I thought, when he was secretly confessing he was in love with her. If I were here I would have felt slightly mortified for him, not a turn on! He's too puppydog like. Speaking of puppydogs, cute little dog, but what is the black under her/his eyes? I love seeing Felipa carrying it around, the dog is half as big as she is!

I'm new to telenovela land, but Bruto seems awfully one-dimensional to me. All he ever does is bark, yell, look muy enojado - I think even a real jerk like he is supposed to be would have more of a personality. I've been noticing he is a good-looking man, really didn't think so at first.
 

There is NO way I would have taken that phone from Alex when he said Mario Aguirre was calling and I knew I didn't know that man. I would have refused until I was blue in the face and walked off, I don't care what he did.

Interesting GWTW comparisons, Alex is definitely Rhett, no doubt, but where is our Scarlett? We would have to dip back into MEPS for the Vivian Leigh character.....Fernanda! Add me to Connie's brilliant stun gun for Bruno parade but don't give it to MJ -- she won't use it because she will be afraid of upsetting Vic or something. She'd also probably forget which way to point it and end up shooting herself or Alex or something. It would be better to give it to Paula, especially if she ever learns about that trick with the stunt man. She'd be all over Bruno before he could even get a good sneer going.

thank you for the excellent recap and such fine detail. I have been thinking about all the things bruno has done thus far and how we will probably have a year of this (as soon as the writers get an inkling that the soap is a success,they add a few months). Anyway, the writers just have bruno doing one thing after another, nonstop. I think it is getting rediculous and a waste of tme. We have to deal with this for quite some time. I could see if it were once in a while he comes up with something, but it is back to back. Any thoughts Ret
 

Well you guys have seen it before i did. OMG i saw the horror for the first time myself last night. That image is eternally etched in my brain. I saw the pink fridge guys. Please anyone with a suggestion so i can stop seeing it.

Connie i had suggested when Bruno first learned the truth about his parentage. Hernan shoot him in the neck with a tranquilizer. I'm sure he can give MJ some whenever Bruno comes around her.

Bruno you're still not qualified to run the company. You're a dead beat who got expelled from college. You build illegal buildings on top of it too.

If i was Alex i would have his lawyers draw up settlements for both Bruno and Raquel. Judging by lifestyles, once they run through that money they are on their own. Neither one can ask for anymore handouts. If Bruno wants to run a company so bad take the money from the settlement and start his own company.
 

Ret- According to others here, Carla Estrada does not expand her TNs beyond what she planned. And since this is done filming and we haven't heard of it being expanded beyond the 90-something episodes we know of, I don't think we have to worry about extra months and extra plots being tacked on. And since we are on capitulo 31, it means we are already done with a third of this novela. So although I am sure there will be many more crazy plots before this ride is over, it will be a fast one.

EZ lost me when he didn't give Alex the info about the phone call from Mario a few episodes ago. He's unappealing in so many ways, a disappointment.

MJ sure has that Stupid Heroine Sufrida Syndrome. What does she have to lose by telling the truth? I felt sorry for her because she doesn't believe in herself. The truth always wins out, sooner or later.

I would gladly hand over the company and watch it sink from afar...

vivi in dc. Thank you for the info. I have been watching the novelas since Jami Camil and La Fea. Each one I watched started out with about 6 or more months and winded up about a year. I thought for sure this one would too because it is a hit and I notice it gets a lot more feedback on this recaps then the others I saw. Ret
 

After a long day at work, and constant rewinds of last nights capitulo in my head, it feels great to come home and read Caray comments. Don't really have anything to add, and I think it's safe for me to say I agree with just about everything everyone said.

And I got to say, I'm starting to forget that this is just a show...lol I think I actually cried in last night's episode after MJ break down.
