Sortilegio Wed Dec 23 - Ep# 55

capítulo 60

Ale falls asleep.

Next morning Ale wakes MJ.....

I love this man.... He is so tender towards MJ and baby.

Ale leaves. EZ gets shook up, and Bruno kicks Cuco, and starts to drive off when Fernando beats the cr*p out of Bruno. That did feel good!

Victoria has Fernando leave, and asks for help to get Bruno into the house.

Victoria is trying to tend to Bruno's cuts and bruises when Bruno tells her to leave him alone. Bruno tells her that it is all beacuse of her lover, and that if she had a bit of decency (he should talk) Victoria would not let him come to the house. "Don't you see that people are talking?" Bruno says. He tells her she would rather have a fling than pay attention to her reputation. Bruno leaves.

Rachel is like "Why were they fighting?

Roberto says because Bruno is Crazy. Fernando is peaceful but be careful when he explodes. Especially if he is stronger than you.

Victoria says that Bruno needs psychiatric attention, and she leaves.

Raquel asks if Roberto saw them fighting? Roberto tells Rachel that Bruno is unhinged because of Ale's and Fernando's return, but he tried to take it out on the wrong guy.

Victoria calls Fernando to see if he is ok and Fernando apologizes. Fernando tells Victoria that he is going to get his sister and will return tomorrow. Fernando tells Victoria he loves her very much, and Victoria says she loves Fernando with all her heart.

In the boardroom, Ale is meeting with his lawyers. They are telling him that the judge ruled that Victoria's part of the house was divided by 3. Ale says that MJ will give him some shares so that he can again have a say in the company. The lawyers tell Ale that there were some changes to the by-laws while he was gone and that you cannot give shares, you can only sell shares. They ask Ale if he has any money? Of course he has money!
The lawyers tell Ale that MJ can give him power of attorney. Ale wants to know when he can remarry her? Bruno is accusing him of a fraudulent divorce. The lawyers say that the law dictates that women must wait a year to avoid conflicts of paternity if they are pregnant, but in this case the conflict would not exist. Ale can get remarried at any time. Ale then asks about and re-contesting the trial to see if they could reverse the judge's ruling considerably because he could not attend the trial. They don't think that the judge decided on the testamonies, but they could try to prove that they were given falsely, and if they did, evidence would have to be gathered that proved that. The lawyer wants to know why he would want to file an appeal since Ale through MJ has the majority of shares and Bruno only has slightly over 11. Ale says he does not want Bruno to live in his house that's all.

Sandra, (I am no good at wardrobe description so someone fill in here.) is checking out Oceanica for drug rehab. You can check it out here. http://www.oceanica.com.mx/ The length of time varies with the individual. They work on the physical, spiritual and psychological.

MJ and Paula are having a picnic on the grounds. Paula says she heard about the fight with Bruno and Fernando and Paula says that Bruno is completely nuts! Chucho and Pedro come in a cab. Pedro is so happy that Ale is alive and he is happy also because he knows that made MJ happy. MJ says she is the happiest woman in the world! Chucho says they are very happy also, when Paula gave them the news.

Useless is at Maura' telling her how deranged Rachel is. Maura wants him possibly to do her a favor. Lisette says he should leave Rachel pronto! Roberto comes to tell them the news that Ale is alive. Maura wants to know what Bruno's reaction was.

Culiacán, Sinaloa ... Sandra.. I couldn't quite catch what she is saying but she ends up canceling her reservation. As she walks out Mateo follows her out and asks her about a restaurant. Sandra says for Mateo to leave her alone. Sandra sees her drug guy waiting for her and she goes off with him.

Roberto and Useless are out to lunch and Mario calls Useless to tell him he saw Sandra leaving a luxury hotel.

Roberto and Useless chat about Sandra and then about Ale. Roberto leaves. Useless gets another call from Mateo. Mateo needs more money to keep looking for Sandra.

Back at the picnic they are still talking how they are so grateful that Ale is alive. Ale calls MJ and they talk sweet words, and kissy kissy and Ale tells her he is seeing Hernan.

Maura is telling Lisett that this is the happiest day of her life to be celebrating that Ale is alive. Twice he has escaped death. Lisette reminds Maura that not only is he alive but also divorced! Maura says she knows that Ale divorced MJ so that Bruno could not take everything. Lisette says that Maura has a small opportunity to get Ale back. Maura asks how, and Lisette says they need to think about it. So is Lisette is pulling Maura back to the dark side you think?

Rachel calls Useless and finds out he already knows about Ale. Rachel wants to know who told him. Useless says Reberto told him at Maura. That is all Rachel needs to start ranting about how Useless knows that Maura has more money than she and Useless hangs up on her. Maura has to catch her breath.

Hernan asks Ale if he is sure that Bruno killed that judge. Ale says he is postive that he did. The judge just didn't just happen to fall at the waterfall, but once again he has no proof. Hernan says everyone is talking about his family, Victoria, Ales divorce from MJ, problems with company stock. Something could go wrong. Ale says is he supposed stand back and do nothing while that fool keeps doing what he likes, to deceive, kill, that blackmail?
Hernan says he understands Ale, but do you uncover the sewer or assuming all the consequences or stay silent? What does you mother says? Ale says he understands that Bruno is her child, but she does nothing but cry. NO KIDDING. Hernan tells Ale to do what he thinks is necessary, but to also think of her.

Uncle Emiliano and friend Porfirio are talking when Fernando arrives. They congratulate him and want to hear all about what happened to him.

Lisette is tired. Maura wants to know if she is sick. Lisette says she did not sleep well. Rachel comes by, and Maura starts to hug her over the "Miracle" but Rachel pushes her away knocking her drink onto the floor and wants to know what she is doing with Useless?

Fernando is finishing up his incredible story and Katia comes in. They hug. Katia leaves the room and Uncle mentions her novio Bruno.

Maura repeats that she has no interest in Useless. Rachel ask who he is interested in. Maura says an old girl friend from Madrid. Rachel says she is pregnant with his baby. Rachel asks Maura's help to have an abortion. Maura says no. Rachel tells Maura she needs to know who this other woman is. Maura ask what purpose it would serve anyway, Rachel says Useless is the father of her baby yada, yada, yada. Maura finally says it is your problem deal with it! Rachel says thanks for nothing.

Maura calls the Lombardo office and gets Mari. She wants to talk to Ale, but he very busy to Mari takes a message.

Ale and Hernan are talking to the board members that Bruno has in his pocket. Ale is telling them that he has the vote of his ex wife, his mother, and Hernan. His sister Rachel he does not have a lot of faith in. Ale tells them he need one of them to support him for the presidency. They hem and haw. Hernan tells them to think
about the future of the business, that Bruno is a man unhinged, and that they know the bad management that Bruno did while occupying the office of vice-president. That if it wasn't for Ale that Bruno would have ruined the company. Hernan then asks them if they doubt it. They tell Ale and Hernan that Bruno promised to sell them shares if they voted for him. They gave Bruno their word, and they will have to think about it. Hernan and Ale shake their heads.

Bruno is on the phone with Thomas telling him to let Erick in. Thomas says that Ale said Erick was not allowed. Bruno says that Ale does get to say who comes to the house and to let him in immediately.

Hernan and Ale are talking about whether they will get the vote or not when Mari phones Ale to give him the message that Maura wanted to talk to him as soon as he wasn't busy. Ale wonders what she wants to talk about? Hernan says she is probably just happy he is back. Ale said Maura was willing to buy some shares to vote against Bruno. Hernan says to talk to her about it. Ale says yes, but he worries that MJ might get be jealous. Hernan says it is just business.

Ale calls MJ to tell her he can't have dinner tonight with her because he is having dinner with Maura. MJ wants to know why.

Bruno and Erick are talking. Erick has come up with a plan to have Rufino arrested for pirating and then Bruno pays him to accuse Pedro and that that could be the push that MJ needs to vote for Bruno. Are we really going to go here again? I hope not. Bruno thinks that a lightbulb is in Ericks head.

MJ is telling Paula that she doesn't like Ale having dinner with Ale but is trying to explain to Paula that it is business. Paula says she is a vampire.

Ale is waiting at the bar when Maura comes in and gives him a hug. she is so happy that Ale is okay. They go to their table.

People at the restaurant gossip about Ale.

Ale and Maura talk about the divorce and then Maura toasts to Ale coming back to life, accepting her dinner invitation and adds "like before".

MJ is beating herself up because they are out to a business dinner.

Ale is talking to Maura about buying shares. Maura says she has always been on Ales side. Are we going to get back together? Ale asks if she is blackmailing him. Maura says it is not blackmail it is love. Ale tells her we have been there done that. So Maura finally says ok fine, she accepts. She leans in to kiss him and Ale turns his face, but that is not what the pictures look like.

Sandra is telling someone that she wants her credit cards. Whoever wants to go to Mexico and that Sandra will have to look for him.

MJ is seeting with her jealosy. MJ asks Ale what happened with Maura. Ale tells MJ that Maura accepted. Nothing else or in exchange for something? Ale tells her nothing else and says he is telling her the truth, does she believe him. MJ rolls over to look at him and says yes. They tell each other they love each other. Kissy Kissy.

Next morning MJ is having breakfast with Paula who upon reading the paper and getting upset, quickly shows MJ the paper that says that Ale who had been missing and who had divorced MJ had returned to the city with his old love. MJ tells Paula that surely Ale was giving her thanks for helping him. Paula says that thanks are given by saying thank you. MJ asks Paula what is she trying to do make her feel bad? Paula says she is saying it because MJ needs to be careful with Maura who will now be an associate in the business and will be all over Ale like a bedbug. Paula leaves and MJ picks up the paper.

Lisett reminds Maura that Ale is divorce.

Paula gets a ride with Roberto.

Fernando decides that this morning is the time to talk to Katia about her relationship with Bruno, and that she is a minor. Katia says that Bruno respects her. Fernando says that Bruno respects no one. Katia thinks Fer is making things up about Bruno.

Mari comes into Ale's office with a stack of newspapers, which have pictures of Ale and Maura. Ale looks at the paper. Ale is not too happy.

Fernando says no, it is evident to him Bruno is a violent person. That yesterday they had a fight. Talk to Victoria or MJ. Katia ask Fernando why she would want to talk to those embittered old woman who are already on Alex's side, of course they would say bad things about Bruno. Katia tell Fernando that know know Bruno better than she.

Ale is calling MJ. Ale asks how she is and MJ says fine and you? Ale says he is fine also. What do you think about us having lunch together? MJ says she doesn't want to go out. Ale says ok we will eat at the house. MJ says that will be fine. Ale says The truth is you have seen the photo in the paper, and it isn't doesn't mean anything. MJ says she understands, that she is feeling fat and ugly. Ale tells her she is the most beautiful woman in the world and that he is in love with her. MJ says she is afraid. Ale tells MJ that she can trust in his love and that there isn't anything that could taker her place in his life. MJ crying says she is sorry, it is probably the pregnacy, but she feels sad. Ale tells MJ that she she should not be sad. Her family is fine, soon their baby will be born and he loves her with all his life, and when they see each other at lunch he want her to be happy agreed?
MJ agrees, but she doesn't look like she is in a happy mood.

Serendipity, thanks for the recap. We had a pleasant day and I'm winding down by checking in at Caray.
Now we start with round two of Maura wants Alex, while Alex wants MJ, and Bruno just won't give up.
La Paloma

Dipity, thanks! Glad that Alex let Maura know there's nothing possible between them anymore.

Thank you for the recap and I hope you had some wonderful time with your family. That always comes first! Kept missing tidbits while baking cookies that night, so your review helped immensely.

Like you, I did so enjoy watching Fer beat the daylights out of Bruno again. Amazing that Bruno looked like a casualty from a bad accident and Fer had a little booboo. Yeah, I think Bruno will think twice about getting in Fer's face again.

I could do without the screeching Rack and Katia scenes. If Santa waned to give viewerville a present, how about shipwrecking those two on an island somewhere and we don't need to find them until the finale.

And dear Alex, the gift that keeps on giving. Boy when he flashes that smile, poor Maura. Getting let down and turned on all at the same time. Felt a little sorry for her.

Wish they would just get moving on Sandra. I think we've seen enough of her wandering and bad wardrobe. Not saying I'm loving the whole twin or lost sister plot, but if we're going to get one, let's start it.

And can I just add, even my sons cracked up watching the Bruno/Erick awkward man-hug moments. Those were priceless.

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Thanks, Serendipity. And no apologies necessary for late recap. We appreciate the holiday effort!

I'm famous for last minute shopping, so I didn't see the last two Sorti episodes until I returned from Xmas dinner at my son and daughter-in-law's place.

I actually was impressed with Bracamontes Sandra role. The Spanish accent was subtle and not overdone. I think I read, maybe on this blog, that Carla Estrada or someone had asked her to lose weight for the role. My guess is that maybe they wanted her skinny for the Sandra role. Maybe they filmed the Sandra parts early on and then let her eat for the rest of it!! To me she looked exactly like a substance abuser. And I was pleased they didn't portray her as bad to the bone. I'm predicting that the sisters will end up close by the end.

The remark she made to the sinister guy about credit cards was that he only was with her because she had them.

Bruno's mad dog routine was pretty good this time. I LOVED seeing Fer beat the cr** out of him.

Serendipity thanks for the recap. I believed we all enjoyed Bruno beat down at Ferdumbo hands.

He knocked Bruno E. Coyote out.Boy was that satisfying. Now he wants to get Ruffino arrested to Pedro in trouble to hold leverage over MJ to vote for him.

Ferdumbo knock his behind out again please. Love when Vicki told Raqhell, Bruno just wants attention.

Bruno had the nerve to say to Vicki people are talking bad about you. Well guess who fault that was unbelievable.

I was cracking up when Useless was complaining about Raqhell to Maura.

Then when he hung up on her when he was at his place i definitely could not stop laughing.

That is exactly what Useless deserves for being the way he is.

La Paloma - Glad you had a nice day. Mostly I did too. I took company to airport early, and later found out that my daughter-in-law's sister was on the plane from Amsterdam. She can't get on to Atlanta till sometime this afternoon.

Yeah Bruno is like that energizer bunny.

Cielo - de nada!

daisynjay - I had a pretty nice holiday considering I am away from home and most of my family. I thoroughly enjoyed the company and friends that I did have, and the good food!

Katia may not look like a seventeen year old but the words coming out of her mouth did.

I wonder how the twin story is going to play out?

dpd

Dipity, many thanks for the recap!!Your recaps are always so complete. The show always is so jammed packed, I forget about some of the scenes until I read the recap and then can piece together my speculations for the novela!!!

Re. the Alex-Maura dinner scene, although Alex didn't SAY he'd consider getting back together with her, his actions (taking her hand, sitting close head to head and allowing her to kiss him)surely told this obssessed woman something else. Granted, he was asking her a favor and didn't want her mad at him but he would have used another angle. I mean, she was willing to sell to MJ to avenge Bruno. Alex could have used the same reasoning with her.
And the most basic of my questions, why did he take her out to dinner to discuss selling companty shares???He could have just asked her in to his office????

Just my 2 cents today!! Hope everyone had a happy Christmas!!Thanks again Dipity!
CubsFan

OOPs, meant to write company shares in my previous post, not companty shares -- I'm as bad as Maura!!!
CubsFan

I was thinking the same thing, Cubs Fan. Why in the world did he have to go out to dinner with Maura to discuss selling shares? But of course they had to get something in about MJ's jealousy.

You're right Novelera. Although Sorti's shown Alex very jealous of Bruno and "Mario Aguirre" throughout the novela, MJ really hasn't had some strong jealousy scenes re. her hottie. Her brief jealousy moments have been more about her feeling inadequate social-education-money-wise compared to Alex's past gfs. Maybe now is the time for the big MJ-Maura rivalry to kick-in full on.
CubsFan

Cubsfan - I guess it did not help for Hernan to encourage Alex to talk to Maura. The whole concept is stupid really. MJ owns the majority of the company but has only one vote. Let's see Bruno could sell 1 share to all his buddies and have 11 votes. Of course Ale should not have gone to dinner but he did tell Maura that their relationship did not work.

Does anyone know the telenovela land rules of how Rackhell will be dealt with? I don't like all her drinking.

dipity - thank you for the recap. You're such a dear to do this for us over the holidays. I'm trashed from all the festivities, company, and general extroversion. ;o) DH and I don't live life in the slow lane.... we live it at the rest stop. And we have to go to a hockey game tonight. I. Need. Caffeine.

I had recorded this one, had not planned to watch, but now I will just to see Fernando beat the bull-hockey out of Bruno.

I am rather curious to see how the Sandra character plays out. She's so skanky looking....

I'm rather bored with this 'novela right now. Same old Bruno porqueria every day. !Ya basta! I want someone to throw that guy under a moving bus or 18-wheeler.

Thanks Serendipity. A work of love, for sure. I had snow, ice and company for a week and now have a lot of Sortie to catch up with.

Re the recap where Victoria says that "Bruno needs attention, and she leaves." Didn't anyone catch that Vic said he needs psychiatric attention? And, why was it necessary to pan the floor mat at the entrance to Oceanica so slowly? Well, I think there's a connection. The guide mentioned psychiatric assistance. Methinks it will be Bruno who runs into Sandra at Oceanica before Ulises can get there.

I agree that Maura's and MJ brief alliance is now over.

I'll have to go back and watch the Bruno/Erick hug. I'm surprised Erick keeps coming back for more of Bruno's abuse. Remember when Bruno told Erick that he's useless and doesn't need him to accompany him to DR. Also, when he's having a nice drink with him (what socializing with the help?) gives him the boot when the ladies show up.

Dipity, ITA the idea that MJ has so many shares and just one vote doesn't seem to make too much sense. Que the heck. Is this how things work?

Hope everyone had a great holiday.

dpd, thanks for taking so much time during a time crunch season for the recap. I love your little asides like "No Kidding". It makes it seem as though you are telling us about the program in person. If you are parted from your family for work, I hope you all get back together soon.

Doris, I'm with you, we have entered a boring phase, boring and ridiculous...it is as if we are back at Grupo Lactos all of a sudden. The execs at Univision must be getting a big chuckle at seeing the inner business dealings at Lombardo Construction!

Happy Holidays to all.

Thanks Dipity, for taking the time to recap. You are a real trooper for getting this done over the Holiday weekend. I had a nice holiday with family and I got to practice speaking Spanish with my Costa Rican daughter-in-law but sadly, first DH and now I have the H1N1 virus.

I am not amused.

Until Doris and Sandy mentioned it I thought my current boredom with the novela was just a reflection of my general malaise. Now I know—nope, it's really boring. At least on the island we got to see more of shirtless Alex and some of shirtless Fernando. And would someone slip Vicky a Viagra mickey? When you say you love Fernando with all your heart, give it some spunk!

Hope all my Caray friends had a lovely Holiday. I am off to drink more fluids.

EJ

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you all had/are having a wonderful time with family and friends. I've just returned to my own little place after four fun days with the family.

Get better soon Elna June.

I think Alex was flirting with Maura a bit too much during that dinner, and he knew exactly the effect it would have on her, but he wanted to make the deal. I think he would have drawn the line at sleeping/getting back together with her, but she danced around the subject and backed off when he called her on it. But the fact that he has not told MJ about 1) the kiss he shared with Maura while she was away; and 2) the fact that Maura was behind the whole Mario Aguirre plot (!), shows that he knows he is playing with fire with this whole Maura/MJ issue and feels some guilt. Man, if MJ knew about those two things she would blow her top and not just be slightly jealous like she is now (understandable, especially considering she's 8+ months pregnant and not feeling like she looks her best). All MJ knows is that Maura and Alex were lovers before she ramdomly dropped into his life and that Maura wants him back. But she does not know just how far Maura would go and HAS gone to try to get him back. Alex is keeping vital info from her and he knows it.

EJ
What a lousy time to get the H1N1. My son and I both had it, in fact I got it when noone was diagnosing it right almost a year ago. Not pleasant and my whole-hearted best wishes to get through and feel better by the new year.
I have to agree with you in the fact that the plot is getting a boring and we seem to be rehashing the same old arguments and intrigues. The first half of this story seemed to be moving right along, but now we seem have to hit a wall in real plot movement. Let's hope it doesn't last long, or if it does, the writers better be throwing in some Fer,Alex, Roberto shirtless time to keep us amused. (I just yuk Useless as a character, so they can leave him out.)
And V - honestly if that's as "hot" as the scenes with her and Fer is going to get, break them up and give Fer someone that can steam up the screen a little more. She's just too blah!
daisynjay

EJ - I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Newbie - I did not catch Vic's comment about Bruno needing to see a psych. LOL I tried so hard not to miss any details this time.

Doris - ITA "i want someone to throw that guy under a moving bus or 18-wheeler" LOL

Sandy - I am taking care of my 100 year old FIL, which I am fine with, but somehow the holidays were here and neither I or DH got a round to making travel arrangements. I had a 5 day window when someone else was here and I could have gone home. Anyway, most of the time I am doing good. :)

Cielo - No, business is not done that way, besides to keep things peaceful they could have sold to Fer or Mari, you know, someone you know is trustworthy!

Vivi - I had forgot that Ale is withholding information. Bad Ale, bad!

I agree this show seems to have slowed down, but it seems that as soon as we say it out loud, something takes us by surprise, so we shall see...

dpd

daisynjay - If you haven't seen it yet...and anybody else...there is a nice little movie out on DVD from 2007, where Fer (a.k.a. Gabriel Soto)is shirtless, sweaty, dirty and shiny, but still with several days growth of beard. He's not the main character but Fernando Colunga is in it, too. It's called Ladrón Que Roba a Ladrón. Just get past the first 5 minutes and then you get the gist of what's it's going to be about.
Newbie in Md

dpd: What a kind and giving person you must be...let us keep you company while you take care of your FIL! I imagine that our Sorti characters are giving you a laugh or two as you make it through your days!!!

On the "slowness" factor, in other programs, there can be interesting sidelines that carry you through the normal down turns of a series. One comment/thought I have about Sorti is that, I really don't give a flip about anyone but Alex and MJ. The Raquel/ Robert thing could be good, but it is hard to care about a a couple that is dragging on the bottom of a morality ocean. She is PG and drinking like a fish and he is hitting on different club "gals". Also, the Vicky/Fernando story line is a big fat zero. My thoughts only on this...Alex/William is bringing a truck load of everything to the table, but other characters are charisma-less. Sorry to be so negative, but that is the way it seems to me.

Elna June....take care of yourself, this H1N1 is serious. Hope it doesn't take too much out of you.

Newbie thanks for the info. I think I may have seen that in my Netflix recommendations once. I'll be sure to check it out. Need some fun films to watch once the boys go back to college!
daisynjay

Elna June, sorry to hear about the N1H1. Do spoil yourself. A couple of my co-workers had it and they felt pretty rotten for the duration - off for over a week with it.

Sandy i agree with the lack charisma a lot of these actors don't have. I'm just depress that William is not trying to be a producer instead of continuing as a actor.

I hope it's just temporary for the moment.

Excuse i meant is now trying to be a producer instead of continuing his acting career.

My grandchildren are spending the night and I'm so nervous that they might wake up that I can't sleep!

Anon: I saw that about WL thinking about producing. I wonder if he is too smart to be satisfied with just acting, he sees directing or producing as being a bigger mental challenge.

Anon: The last post was mine, phone not as easy as computer !

Sandy i also believe if Carla had gotten a younger actress to portray Vicki her stortline with ferdumbo would be more believable.

a lot of us are noticing how tepid her response is with Ferdumbo. I think Daniela Romo just can't see her self ever falling for some one age wise as Ferdumbo is supposed to be.

Even though she's a veteran actress. she's letting her personal viewpoint interfere with her acting abilities.

Anon: I think you have a good point on Danela, it might be that PERSONALLY she just can't see herself with such a young and hunky guy. Something is seriously wrong with their chemistry. It isn't viewerville, we're all happy for two people of different ages to find love. I think that if I strangely found myself in her position, acting, of course,I could put a little more gusto into my "love scenes".

Sandy i think the problem is when you have a male actor who is the same age as Daniela Romo, let's use Rogelio Guerra from Meps as Gonzalo.

What was the reason he was so comfortable at being Barbie husband at his age because it's acceptable even for a man his age to get a trophy wife like Barbie.

Vicki it would not be acceptable but my problem is with the actress herself Romo. Because even if this is her belief and her values.

As a actress her job is to immersed herself into her role so we the audience will and can believe her portrayal of it.

I feel that she is holding a part of her self back from the role trying to maintain her personal beliefs and in that case she should not have accepted this role at all knowing waht was expected of it.

Sandy i so hope he doesn't abandon his acting career, i know right now he's acting in a theater play i believe he's the producer of it in Mexico.

I believe one of the reason could be because what's happening in his personal life also.

Like i said i hope it's only temporary that he wants to do this. He has really grown as actor i look forward to seeing more of his acting in novelas.

Firstly, ITA that WL is making this novela worthwhile.

Now, OMG! Sandy n Anon, if you guys have any more details on this WL going producer business, can you please post it on squidoo for me if and when you have time? My world is being shattered! :( thanks for the heads up.

Cielo de levy what i wrote is the info i got from the Squidoo page.

I hate hearing and reading this also especially when he's at the height of his popularity right now.

It's his personal decision that i guess we have to respect.Hope to hear, hopefully when he's going to make his next novela.

Can someone refresh my memory? Who is Rufino

Rufino was the crook that Pedro was buying stolen stuff from & then selling it. Alex paid him off, Pedros had burned the stolen goods & Rufino was after his hide.

Don't forget Cristina tonight, Colunga!

Thanks, Anon. I went on squidoo after I posted that. Guess I'll have to make the most of Sortilegio.

Hi everybody. Finally have a chance to check in. I haven't read comments yet so will check back later. I'm a little behind. Great recap Dipity.

Btw Anon, youtube has a few clips of Un Amante a la Medida.

Really Cielo de Levy i have to check that out.

Isn't that illegal since it's from the theater, also i guess they don't check out what people are carrying in.

Unless the person recorded it from a cell phone?

Frankie3 says:

Here’s a cry on the shoulders of you, nice people.

After Sortilegio, no more telenovelas on Univisión for me.

How come? Well, their CC drives me up a wall. Seldom does it ever appear on the heels of a speaker’s words. It’s usually quite delayed, making it difficult to know which person is speaking, or absent altogether.

And though I’ve been assiduously studying Spanish over 20 years now, I’m completely dependent on CC to understand fully, spoken words on TV. So, as to Sortilegio, most of the time, to understand things I have to wait until a recap appears on this wonderful site.

I really admire those of you who don’t have this problem and can watch Sortilegio on Utube without CC and don’t end up saying, “HUH?,” like I always do.

But if I switch to Telemundo or some other network, won’t I have the same problem with CC as I do on Univisión?

Nope, I won’t. That’s because just about all of the other networks (including English ones) and most importantly Telemundo, have far superior CC. Except for live telecasts, where a delay in CC is understandable, I have found that their CC transmits almost immediately following spoken words.

But because I have so much time and intense interest invested in Sortilegio, I’m going to tough it through its Gran Finale. But the next telenovela I watch will be on Telemundo.

Yes, you’re right, it will be tough to give up on seeing favorites, Fernando Colunga, et al, as well as some of the new ones for me, like Silvia Navarro, William Levy, and Jacquelyn Bracamontes.

But there’s a price of ticket to every show: For me, understanding what actors are saying, is more important than their charm, good looks, and expressions.

Finally, I just hope Univisión eventually gets the message and remedies their CC. Surely, they’re getting complaints, especially, from the hearing impaired.

Anon, the clips are extremely unclear and the duration is only a couple of minutes.

Cielo de Levy i'm watching them right now they look like they were taken with a cell phone.

Do they make DVDs of theater performances?

Cielo de levy i don't think i ever heard of DVD's for a theater play it would have to be a bootleg if there was one though.

See what a hard time they give people who have already seen these novelas in Mexico by putting it on youtube.

Yeah, you're probably right about that, Anon. Shucks.

How do you turn on CC's anyway? I tried to do it one night and I finally ended up with CCs in Spanish! But that was only on certain channels. Maybe my TV is too old.

Connie, I have a new TV, but my CC only come in Spanish as well. Maybe I don't know how to do it...

Frankie3 says:

Forgive me, I should have been clearer. I'm talking about CC in Spanish, not English.

I can read Spanish far more proficiently than I can understand someone speaking it; especially, when actors get in arguments and speak excitedly and rapidly.

CC don't work for me anyways though. They distract me. I like to keep listening even if I don't understand. That's why I first came here--to get what I missed. After I read a recap, I go back and listen to whatever I couldn't comprehend, and it sticks with me afterwards.

Oh I see, Frankie. That's the case for a lot of people. I'm Indian, and I have relatives who can't watch bollywood movies without English subtitles, so that's what I thought you meant. It is much harder when the CC are in a foreign language and delayed. I understand. It's difficult to enjoy something like that.

Frankie:

I'm very interested in what you said about CCs. Will you be around tomorrow?

Frankie, you are SO right. I used to watch without captions until someone clued me in that you could catch the words not in your vocabulary as yet.

The Univision captions didn't used to be so bad. It seems to me that it started with Manana es Para Siempre and has continued on with Sortilegio.

The problem is that if you get used to reading along, it's tough when they are so badly done as they are lately. They're either WAY behind the speakers, or occasionally ahead of them. It drives me nuts.
