Sortilegio 1/8/10: The Mystery Around Mary Jo's Twin Peaks

Capítulo 67?

As we return to the milder climes of Mexico and Merida this week-end :

Paula is feeding the slowly recuperating Roberto his hospital din-din and chattering on, giving him the gossip about Raquel. She mentions that Raqhell is back home and back on the booze; neither Alex nor Vicki can stop her from drinking. Bobo mentions he's being released the next day and will be living in the main house. The big guy sort of likes the thought of having a place--make that a space--of his own. He's curious to know if Ulises has come to see Raqui and Pau sniffs that she doesn't think so. On the other side of the city at Casa de los Lombardo, Mary Jo tells Alex that she'd like to go visit her daddy in the clink. Alex tells Mary Jo that he'll work things out with the lawyer and see what he can do to get permission. He also reminds her they agreed to get remarried and that it's high time they get hitched again, especially before Tony gets baptized in the Church. Mary Jo isn't up for it right now since Papi Pedro's still in the pokey. Alex tells her life goes on and that, God willing and the creeks don't rise, Pedro will be freed and will be their guest of honor at the reception.

Across town, Elena is having a drink with Ulises in the apartment Raqui leased for him. He explains to her that he hasn't been back to the Lombardo's and made contact with Mary Jo because the whole family probably knows now about his affair with Raquel. Elena calls him a pig and smirks. He says hey, Raquel offered him money and because he needed it he took it. Even the apartment, he says, is something she rented for him. Elena looks at him and laughs, no doubt admiring what an accomplished man-whore he has become. She mentions that Horrible Jorge's treatments with electroshock on Sandra haven't gotten any results. Sandra still has brain damage.

Uli suggests that they should kidnap MJ's baby and force her to impersonate Sandra for Porferio's benefit and just be done with it. Elena says not so fast, especially if MJ and Alex are the kind of people he's told her they are. She'd have to get it past Jorge first anyway, and the last time she brought up something he told her to go to Hell. She does have a plan in mind, but she first needs to be convinced that Mary Jo is really identical to Sandra. She wants to see her. Uli says that'd be difficult because MJ never leaves the compound and he's not exactly able to visit there any longer.

In the city at Lombardo, Inc., Alex is telling Maura he's getting married to MJ again. She says he's got to be crazy since the woman has caused him nothing but trouble ever since he met her and now he's stuck with trying to get her father out of jail. He reminds her that the divorce was only a countermeasure against Bruno's plotting. Meowra insists that it's silly to get remarried since the two of them are like water and oil and have nothing in common. (Tony might disagree.) Alex gets a bit perturbed at Mau and says he and MJ share a child and their love together. He lays down the law to her saying that he appreciates her buying stock in his company and helping him to retain the presidency, but when it comes to his private life or his sex life, she needs to butt out!

A bit later, still hot under the collar and red in the face, Meowra is griping to Uli during a lunch date about the dust up with Alex. Just like Lisett, he tells her the obvious: that now the baby is born she doesn't stand a chance with Alejandro. Mau can't understand it because they've always gotten along together; they had the same tastes, and they come from the same class. Suddenly this piece of filth comes along and she takes it all away from her! Bruno happens to walk by the restaurant patio as Mau and Uli are chatting. They don't notice him. He eavesdrops from behind a post while Uli tells her that MJ's mama is back in town to find out if MJ really is identical to her twin. Uli explains that she's planning something but that they haven't discussed it yet. The two discuss the possibility of Mau helping him to get MJ out of the house for a while or maybe even taking a snapshot of her using the baby as an excuse. Mau wants to know what's in it for her. Uli has a couple of thoughts along that line, but Viewerville is beamed away before they hear the details.

We are teleported to another part of the city as Bruno is meeting Katia for lunch or a drink or something. They stop at the bar while they wait for a table. He orders them a couple of apple martinis--a great chic drink, the way a Tom Collins used to be in the 70's. (I wonder if Katia will use her tootsie pop to stir it with.) Bruno mentions that he saw Uli and Mau together. Could be they've hooked up, but he thinks it's more likely something Mau has cooked up. He wants the Crotchya to find out for him what that is. She's happy to oblige once she gets her bit o' sugar from the sweet-talker in chief. Smo-o-o-ch-h!

That night, at the Casota de Lobos y Locos de los Lomabardo, MJ asks Alex why he's leaving for Saqui in the morning but not taking either Paula or herself with him. He says this time there's no reason to take them for what he's got to do. Wrong answer! She breaks down into tears. He admits finally that her daddy had a pulverizing run-in with one of the other inmates but is now doing better and that he simply didn't want either of his daughters to have to see their papi that way. MJ cries but Alex promises he'll get the ol' guy out of their somehow. Kiss-Kiss. Hug-hug.
Uli brings Maura back to the apartment to chat with Elena. Elena tells him she wants to chat with Mau woman to woman so Uli leaves the apartment. Elena tells Mau she's known Uli for a long while and that Uli is a blabbermouth, so she'd rather they talk alone. Elena starts by saying that she knows Mau still has a thing for MJ's husband and wonders what she's prepared to do to get him back. Mau says with the kid and all that it's not really likely and besides, since MJ is her daughter, she wouldn't think of doing anything to hurt her. (Guess Mau had all her fingers and toes crossed while she told Elena that whopper.) Elena says she thinks there's a way that everyone can be happy, but if a word of what she says gets out she will deny it and deny ever meeting Maura. Mau's all ears.

It's now bedtime for Alex and MJ. She's crying. His rather simplistic solution: make love and suddenly all the ugly thoughts turn into happy ones. Alex tells her that they can't allow the mistakes of other's to bring them down. She's got her own family now to worry about and to take care of. He's able to separate the problems of daily life from his relationship with her and she needs to learn to do the same. She figures he's right and she relaxes a bit with him. They hug and smooch and start turning those ugly thoughts into happy ones......
Meanwhile, across town, Uli is now sending Elena off in a cab. He walks over to Mau and asks her for a rundown of the big pow-wow she had with Elena. Mau plays dumb and innocent. All the woman talked about were her husband and her daughter. Uli isn't buying it and wants the truth. Mau says the only other thing Elena mentioned was that she wanted to have her take a picture of MJ. Other than that she only asked questions about Mary Jo and her husband. Mau says she's tired and drives off. Uli isn't convinced.

The next day Meowra drives over to Casota Lombardo. MJ is with Felipa and the baby out on the grass. Felipa (along with Viewerville) lets out with an eye roll and an "Hijole!" when she sees who's walking towards them. Meowra gushes effusively over little Tony and hands over MJ a couple of obligatory gifts for the baby (although deep down, Viewerville is convinced, she'd really rather be tying MJ in a bag with snakes and dumping her into the nearest lake.) Meowra says she's dying to take a snapshot of the little snook-ums. "He's so cute!" She snaps a pix of Mary Jo and Baby Tony on her cell, then quickly makes her exit by saying she's heard Raqui's back and that she needs to visit her a bit too. As she races off, Felipa tells Mary Jo that the woman gives her the willies. Suddenly an ambulance drives past and they see it's bringing Bobo back from the hospital.

Everyone rushes out to greet Bobo and help him inside. Raqhell sloshes her way over to the chalet's front porch. She twitches and bitches then bitches and twitches about it to Maura. (Man! Just watching her do the twitch thing gives me hives.) Mau looks a bit concerned. She asks how long till the baby comes. Raqui thinks about two months but isn't sure. Raqhell asks Mau if she's heard from Uli recently but Mau lies and says no. Raqui twitches and blinks a few times. "The coward!" Mau asks if Raqhell knows who the baby-daddy is but she doesn't and could care less. She is more interested in getting a lawyer through Mau to help with her divorce.

Back at her hotel a while later, Elena receives an envelope via messenger with Mau's photo of MJ holding little Tony in it. Elena draws in her breath. "She's identical!!"

Alex returns home from Saqui with good news for Mary Jo about her scrappy papi. There's a good chance to get Pedro out on bail. (Viewerville's male population are in awe. It's got to be a real upper being able to be a Macho-Man 24/7 to your woman like that.) Vicki walks in and tells the two of them that she's gotten Dr. Hernan and Bobo together for a meeting and wants Alex and MJ to join them for it.

Back with our loonies in the boonies, Elena shows Jorge the Horrible Mary Jo's photo. Success! "--It's Sandra!" She corrects him. "--No, it's Mary Jo." Mexico's Dr. Mengele is excited as visions of experiments dance in his head. "She is exactly the same!" Elena sighs, relieved, and smiles.

In the study back at the Casota de Locos y Lobos, Vicki and Hernan explain to MJ and Alex the problem they've got with Raqhell's continued drinking. "The baby will be born with all sorts of problems. It may even die!" Bobo interjects here that that is exactly what Raqui wanted--to kill the baby. Caras de impactado [looks of shock] bounce around the room. MJ and Alex express the obvious: there needs to be a way to stop her from getting off the property till the baby is born. (Viewerville scratches its head and asks how about just finding her latest stash and dumping it, then firing the next employee who smuggles a bottle in to her? That should put a split-second stop to everything!) Everybody's stumped as to how to achieve the nigh impossible here.

In the boonies with our favorite goonies again, Jorge says they could take samples of MJ's brain cell tissue and transfer it to Sandra. The brain damage would be cured, but Sandra's addictions would not. She'd return to the same bad habits so that idea wouldn't work for their purposes. Elena suggests Uli's plan to kidnap MJ. Jorge says nope, because Uli's a worthless hustler. He doesn't want Elena having anything more to do with Uli. Elena seems fine with that. So she moves on to suggest Maura because Mau is still in love with Mary Jo's husband. However, Horrible George says he doesn't trust a woman. Women are useless chatterboxes. Elena figures there's nobody else who can get close to Mary Jo. "No. It's got to be a man." He'll have to think on it a bit more. He asks her for the name of the family's company. "--Lombardo Construction." Horrible George walks off with the photo of MJ to ponder the possibilities and to plot their next diabolical move.

That night in his lab office, Horrible is researching the Lombardo's and comes across the stories in the newspapers about the recent trial, the fight between the two half-brothers for the presidency of the company, the affair between Vicki and Antonio while she was still married to Samuel Albeniz, and the two illegitimate children--Bruno and Raquel--who were never told about their true father till only recently. The papers mention that this has served to sully the family's public image and to hurt the company's financial stability.

Meanwhile, at Don Porferio's, he and Fernando's Tío Abuelo, Emiliano, discuss Porfi's distrust of both Elena and Horrible George. He also cannot understand why he hasn't seen hide nor hair of his granddaughter in six years, especially with the amount of money she stands to inheirit from him. Porfi suspects that Sandra might even be dead and it's a shame because he took to the little girl right away. He liked her spunk and wit. He's certain she became a nuissance to Elena and her husband and that's why they sent her off to Spain to school. Emiliano remarks that many parents simply send their kids off to school in Spain because they think they'll get a better education and fare better once they return. Fernando did just fine in Mexico, though, so he doesn't necessarily agree with that practice. Emiliano suggests it could be that Porfi was too much of a curmudgeon and scared her off. Porfi says he now thinks maybe he should get married again to keep Elena and Jorge from getting his money when he dies. It could be the maid or the washer woman. It doesn't matter.

The next day Horrible tells Elena what he found out about the Lombardo family. He thinks Bruno would be the perfect one to deal with since he's probably filled with hate and resentment at losing his legal challenge to become the company's president even though he's the older son. "Bruno should be resentful enough to stop at nothing to get back at his half-brother."

In the meantime, Raqhell has gone into labor pains. She races down the lane towards the main house screaming that her water's broken or something. (What is that ugly red thing the wardrobe department put her in for this scene--something from E. Gad?) Vicki races out and screams for the servants to call an ambulance.

At Lombardo, Inc., Maura overhears Mari discussing Alex's intended move with him. (Damn! Could that mini-skirt be any shorter? Mau better have on panties when she crosses those legs of hers. On the other hand, maybe she could bring in a bit more business that way.) Mau asks him why move from a house he's lived in his entire life? Alex says Bruno's living there too and it's best they be as far apart from each other as possible. She can't argue with facts and offers to find the perfect house for Alex and MJ as a show of friendship. There's a call on Alex's cell just then. He finds out from Felipa that Raqui's gone into premature labor. Mau races off with Alex to the hospital and forgets her purse in the reception area.

Meanwhile, Pau runs in to give the news to the convalescent Bobo. She races around to help him get ready to go to the hospital with the others. He is a physical mess still and struggles to get off the couch and out from under his meal tray--a totally unnecessary scene. FF>>

Outside on the grounds, Erick observes the chaos and gives the low-down to Bruno as he drives up in his Zzzz-4.

Back in Reception at Lombardo, Inc., Katia and Mari are discussing the premature birth situation when they hear a cell ring. It is coming from Maura's purse. The Bratia answers it and is surprised to hear Elena on the other end. Elena says yeah, Uli is a friend they have in common. Katia explains that everyone left in a hurry due to Raqui's going into premature labor. Mau happened to forget her purse and cell there. Elena decides not to leave a message. Fernando walks into the room looking for Alex. Mari explains what's going on with Raqhell and Fer races out and off to the hospital as well.

Raqui's baby girl is born weak and with under-developed lungs. She will have to be put into an incubator. It's not clear if she'll live. Raqui is fine, though. Bobo worries that the baby may still die. Fer arrives and comforts Vicki.

In the kitchen at Casota Lombardo the servants are eating dinner. Pau has joined them. Felipa mentions their need to put the baby in an incubator. Zeke says it's to be expected with premies. Pau isn't as charitable about the situation. "The only reason that baby is sick and in an incubator is because its mother was stuck sucking her own bottle all these months and drank like a fish! [beber como un cosacko = drink like a fish/ literally it's to drink like a Cossack] The one who deserves to be in serious condition is its mother!" (Viewerville gives 10 points to the Pugster.) Felipa scolds Pau for not being more sympathetic. "You need to be understanding with alcoholics and diabetics and the like." Pau says she doesn't feel a bit guilty when it comes to Raqui and she sticks to her guns. She tells the group that she doesn't have the slightest bit of sympathy for Raqhell. (You go, girl!)

That night Alex gives the rundown on Raqui and their new little niece to MJ. He says Bobo's bummed and bothered about the birth of the baby as well as Raquhell's situation. That's what happens when someone faces up to the mess they've made, he adds. (Bobo has apparently and it ain't purdy.) Mary Jo says she actually likes the guy now, though she didn't trust him at first. She asks Alex if he thinks Uli's the baby-daddy. He says he doesn't know, but Bobo wants to keep her even so. MJ thinks it's a terrific gesture on Bobo's part. She changes the subject to postponing the wedding. Alex says no way! He wants the whole world to see her dressed in white at the church. She reminds him she isn't a virgin and can't use white. He says then she can choose whatever color she wants. "The wedding only signifies a contract, and gives an official stamp to the proceedings. It's not just for the witnesses, but for the couple as well." (What is this? Sociology 104: marriage contracts as a part of the social contract?) Toni burbles his two cents worth, too. (I almost like Tony better than Cuco. Just wait till he graduates from gurgle to bark!)

Downstairs, Victoria cries on Fer's shoulder. She of course blames herself for Raqhell's situation and the problem with her grandbaby. Fer's a bit more forgiving and sympathetic than I would be with her, but then he's looking to get another meaningful roll in the hay. Fer says Raquel is all "growed-up" now and responsible for her own behavior, the same as everybody else in the world. It was her decision to ruin her life this way. He's sure the baby will recover. Vicki and Bobo will be able to raise Raqui's baby and he'll be there as well to help. He stares deeply into her eyes and tells her he's amazed at how much she cares for others; that he admires her for it. Each time he admires her more. He loves her and her huge heart touches him deeply. He feels so lucky to claim the love of a Victoria Lombardo, to have been permitted to even get close to her. She says she's luckier having him love her. They share another funky priss-kiss. (Blechhh!)

Back at the hospital, Dr. Hernan runs into Bobo and tries to make him get some rest. Bobo can't because he's too upset about the baby's condition. He asks to see her. Hernan takes him to the premie part of the nursery. Bobo is in awe. (Viewerville can definitely relate.) "Will she live?" Dr. Hernan says they trust that she will.

The next morning Bruno and Crotchya are having breakfast out. Crotchya mentions the possibility that Raqui's baby might die. Bruto says it's just as well. Crotchya is naively impactada to hear him admit it. El Bruto is being practical. "With an alcoholic mother and Roberto--why lie about it? If Uli's the father, it's just as bad because then it will have the genes of a worthless hustler." Small talk changes to the phone call Mau got that Crotchya intercepted. She says that it turned out to be Elena. Bruto doesn't remember her mentioning the woman before. Crotchya explains about her and her ogre of a husband who's always stuck in his labs, and mentions their daughter, Sandra, "that nobody ever sees because she's always off studying." Bruto pricks up his beady little rat-ears.

"Sandra" is the magic word here. Bruto has flashbacks to Alex asking him who Sandra was and then to his overhearing Alex mentioning to Vicki that MJ has a twin sister named Sandra living with her mother outside Toluca, and that Uli mentioned it to Bobo who mentioned it to him. Bruno gets up, leaves Crotchya some cash to pay for breakfast, then races off to find out what Maura's got going with this woman.

Bruno now shows up unexpectedly at Uli's door. He pushes his way in and sits down to eat the guy's untouched breakfast. (What a charmer.) In between shovelled mouthfulls Bruno tells Uli he should know that his kid was born the night before and that now he's daddy to a diseased kid with rickets. Uli asks how Raquhell is. "--I didn't come to talk about her. I want to know everything about Mary Jo's twin sister and her mother." Uli pretends not to know what he's talking about. Bruno warns him not to pretend because Alex told him himself about Sandra and that she and her mother, Elena, live outside Toluca somewhere. Uli says he's partially right, but Sandra's been out of the country studying for years now.

Bruno warns Uli not to lie because he says he's got the woman's phone number and will be checking his story. Uli asks how he got the number. "From Maura." Uli says he introduced them but didn't know they'd become such close friends. Bruno says something's going on between Mau and her 'cause there's got to be a reason the two are calling each other. "Let me have it in detail!" Uli asks why it matters so much to Bruno. "--It matters to Mary Jo!" "-- MJ has nothing to do with you! She's your brother's wife!" "--Alex took the presidency from me and then he stole a woman who ought to have been mine! I am not eager to see things to go on like they are!"

Uli takes a different tack and tells Bruno to calm down because MJ's having a twin sister doesn't change the facts. "--Maybe not, but I don't like all the mystery. I want to know what's up." Uli says he's sorry but he hasn't anything more to tell him. "--We'll see about that!" Bruno storms out of the apartment to gawd knows where now.

Uli immediate calls Mau to get an explanation while the not-so-innocent Crotchya the Bratia eavesdrops. Uli yells at her to tell him what Elena called about. Mau plays dumb and says there's nothing. He reminds her of that private chit-chat the two women had the other day at his apartment, then threatens her not to try anything behind his back. Click! Mau turns around and asks Katia if somebody named Elena called there the other day. Katia apologizes for not telling her how she took the call for her since she'd left her purse the day before when she raced off to the hospital because of Raquel. Mau want's to know how Ulises found out about the call. Katia blames Mari. Mau says Mari wouldn't know Uli, much less have a reason to tell him about Elena's phone call. Katia plays dumb and insists it had to be Mari.

That's enough for Mau. (It's always the hired help with this broad.) She races out to Mari's desk and lites into her for being a gossipy busybody and too loose with the intimate details of her private life. Mari is completely-bewildered-impactada. She swears she has no idea what Mau's talking about and would never dream of doing such things. Alex and Fernando come out of their offices to see what the din is about. Maura tells Alex that he's got a big mouth for a secretary and that he needs to look for a new one.

In Alex's office a few moments later, Mari swears that she would never stoop to something so unprofessional and that she has no idea even who this Ulises guy is. It wasn't even she who took the phonecall. It was Katia! Enough said. Fer and Alex exchange looks. They immediately know what--or rather, who--the problem is here. They let Mari go back to her desk after apologizing for the mixup. (Alex, give the gal a major raise, too. It's not exactly like you couldn't sell a property or two to pay for it. She deserves it with everything she puts up with working for you!!)

Mari leaves the office. Fernando admits, redfaced, that it was Katia. The two now want to know what Maura has to do with MJ's mother. Alex goes in to speak with Mau. He asks her point blank about Elena. Mau admits Uli introduced them and that she met her, but only a couple of times. The first time was when she showed up with Roberto. The second time Elena mentioned that she was with Uli and that the woman said she'd like to see Paula and Mary Jo. Mau explains, innocently enough, that she didn't have any reason to think it was strange since the woman was their mother and, after all, it wasn't really any of her business. So she really didn't pay much attention to her. That is why she never bothered mentioning it to him.

Alex accepts her answer and walks out of her office.

I fell asleep --what made Raquel go into labor?

No problem. We appreciate your efforts!

Hi, Jardinera. Have you been having blizzards ? We haven't had much snow here , but it has been in the 29s lately. Brrrrr I feel as if I am in hibernation.

Correction---It's been in the 20s lately..not the 29s.

Susanlynn,

Doris and I are in Nashville and it has been in the teens for several days here!! We're used to much warmer weather for this time of year!! We've had a little snow and of course. all schools are closed and there is little traffic on the streets...Burrrrrrrr for us as well!!

Don't worry about the recap Jardineria.

I didn't want to mention this before, since I know so many of you are digging through snow, but we are freezing our nalgas off in south FL.
I don't remember it being this cold for this long EVER & to top it all, it's raining. The strawberries & tomatoes are done for & probably the rest of the oranges. The prolonged cold probably will kill the iguanas, but they are a real nuisance around these parts. The western part of the county is supposed to get in the 20's tonight, brrrrr, we are not used to this. It's breaking records in the weather dept.
ok you can make fun of us now.

Variopinta- I will not make fun of you. Cold is cold, especially when you're not used to it. I am ready for the weather to warm up here in DC. Ya, basta with the teens, 20s and low 30s!

vivi,
This is very much like the weather we had in DC in Oct, when it was the coldest for that time of year since 1921. I called my friend that went with me & asked her what this reminded her of.

Hi Jardinera! Hope your tech. difficulties get sorted out. I know what a pain those can be. Wasn't able to watch the last couple of episodes because of tech problems of my own with the DVR (which hopefully will be fixed on Monday). I did manage to watch the abridged youtube episodes I missed this afternoon (too freezing to do anything outside the hosue) but they're so choppy I'd still like to get your take on the episode.

Many thanks for opening the thread in the meantime.

I LOVE, LOVE that Alex finally spoke clearly to Maura about his feelings about MJ. I almost felt sorry for Maura when she got all in Alex's face and he told her he appreciated her buying stock in the company but he'd never allow anyone to interfere in his private life. The LOOK on her face -- inches from his -- priceless!!!

And, as always, I love the Alex and MJ one-on-one scenes. Even with the briefest scenes I get the sense of the couple's deep love. The chemistry of these two actors is just amazing!!!

To the first Anon. comment, I don't think any one thing caused Raquel to go into early labor. I got the sense it was due to the stress of having to live in a liquor free home (except for Bruno's stash) because you just see her running out on the mansion's grounds when Vicky is out there complaining of terrible stomach pains.

Have a great weekend Caray Caray folks!!!

My daughter and three of my grandchidren live in Jacksonville area. My grandson emailed and told me that the HOme Depot Card we gave him came in handy. He was going to use it for house cosmetic things, but some lines in his his froze up and he used the money to replace them. I asked him "How can your pipe lines freeze up in Florida DUH? My daughter moved to florida to get rid of the cold rotf. Ret

Jardinera:

So sorry about your tech difficulties. Your recaps are always worth waiting for.

Yep, the Maura moment with Alex was fabulous. Slam! Maura you are down for the count!

My deepest sympathies to all suffering from the record cold. It sounds dreadful.

No problem Jardinera with the delay with the recap. I appreciate the effort you and all the recappers make in order to bring us a recap. I thank Melinama for this blog too.

"And, as always, I love the Alex and MJ one-on-one scenes. Even with the briefest scenes I get the sense of the couple's deep love. The chemistry of these two actors is just amazing!!!"

Co-sign CubsFan. The chemistry between WL and JB is awesome. You really believe that Alex and MJ are deeply in love with each other. I also loved Alex finally letting Maura know where he stands in his relationship with MJ. I'm really getting concerned what the interlopers have planned for MJ and Sandra. Elena's husband gives me the creeps.

Here near Houston, too. 22º last night. 36º the high this afternoon. More freeze tonight. One busted pipe. Fortunately out at the vegetable garden so easy to shut supply to. Sunshine for most of the day. The pooch enjoyed a brisk run in the backyard, but beat me back inside through her doggy-door. Good luck to everyone who is dealing with the chill.

Didn't Elena look fetching last night? Just wish that she hadn't been plotting to kidnap the little prince.

Carlos

Elena is a beautiful woman, she has wonderful skin and eyes. There are those, and I might be one of them, that think that a snip, snip on her long locks might be a help, but all in all, she wears her longer do well. She seems calm and unflappable as she plots to kidnap babies and coerce her daughter to lie to unknowing relatives to get the inheritance.

I do agree that she is making a mistake in buying her blouses in the petit department, she could get a slimmer more sophisticated look with a size 8, 10 or 12 (not sure which size????), but what do I know?

CubsFan and Pirate Babe- ITA about the Alex shootdown of Maura and the MJ and Alex scenes. I really believe these two people have grown into a truly, deeply loving relationship- in most other novelas it never seems like the couples have spent enough time with each other to care for each other as deeply as they profess. It's nice that they show them spending these little moments together and show their love deepening.

But with all that he knows about Maura and her attempts to sabotage and talk down his relationship with MJ, I can't believe he is careless enough to let her "help" in their house search as she suggested. Even Mari could see through that ruse! Oh, well. I guess he will learn his lesson once something dramatic happens.

Looking forward to reading the recap once it's up and commenting more.

Stay warm everyone! I walked to my pilates class today and regretted that decision on my frigid walk home.

Jax is not the place to go to to stay warm. They are cold every winter. It's about 350 miles north of here. We are just not supposed to be this cold. A lot of people don't even have heat & space heaters are a big item right now. Took awhile for the dust to burn off my central heat/AC. It snowed in Orlando.

Hello to all my cold buddies. I can't believe the temps I'm hearing about in Florida. At least we here in Pennsylvania expect cold weather in January. [However, recent temps in the 20s are colder than usual.] Oh well, at least everyone looks warm in Sortilegio. I am growingincreasingly depressed as I watch MJ, Paula, Maura, Katia, and Lisette running around sleeveless as I take several minutes to put on my hooded coat, scarf, and gloves every time I have to go outside. However, I must say that the wardrobe department is doing an excellent job. I am a bit of a clothes horse, and I would love to have the clothes that MJ and Maura have been wearing. Even Vicky has had some attractive outfits.

Sandy, Elena is no 8 or 10. Size 12 is more like it.

Ann-NYC

For everyone w3ho loved Alex finally declaring quite emphatically to Maura, that he has chosen MJ and no one will dictate to him his private life.

The stunned look on her face and the momentarily lapse of anger seeping through was just so well played by Ana Brenda.

Alex when will you get a clue you finally let her know it's only MJ and your son who you care about.

Then youy turn around and let her help you find a house for you and MJ.This does not look good.

It seems that Elena creepy Dr. husband Jorge like so many have speculated he cutting Useless out of the loop.

One other thing i am also glad Alex saw for himself how not very charming and fake nice,Maura was with Mari.

When Mari explain to him what had happen with her phone and it was Katia not her if anyone said anything.

Ann,
Ha ha, you're right! I really think she has a very sexy charm. I wonder what message she is trying to send with her plunging necklines? What ever the message is, it's lost on ole Jorge. He is oh so cold to her.

Susanlynn, I agree, Maura's wardrobe is fantastic, shoes too. MJ looks great as well.

I have one word to describe Alex and MJ...FOREVER!

Variopinta
I was unaware that many people in Florida don't have heat. This is terrible.I hope you and your family are OK.
One more advantage to being on Caray...our informal weather and geography blog. For example, I was unaware that there was such a weather difference between the Jacksonville and Miami areas.
I suppose being from out here on the Pacific coast I have a mental box called Florida, and inside it always looks warm and toasty.Of course, people make the same assumptions about California. Northern California has weather completely unlike the SoCal stereotype but folks still always come to San Francisco in the summer in shorts and tank tops. Mostly the summer in SF is in the high 50's with fog. Not so good for shorts...

Anyway, I certainly can see that many are suffering in this crazy cold snap. I hope it ends soon. It is so hard for seniors and others on tight budgets to have these unexpected weather events.

On the Elena question, her clothes do look too small. But in her defense, I am built like Elena—tall, size 10-12 but with a large, em, shelf, so to speak. And like you Susanlynn,I love clothes.
I remember my Grandmother, wonderful beanpole fashionista that she was, telling me that mine was a very hard body to dress. The shelf is always in the way, and you have cleavage no matter what you wear. I for one do not recommend button up blouses—one is always busting out of them.
As I have opined before, I think Elena is very sexy and the actress is blowing me away with her portrayal of a cold, cold woman. She was absolutely HATEABLE when she looked at the photo of MJ and Tony and remarked that she was exactly like Sandra.

Elna june, LA really looks great right now.

I've never understood why so many people buy places in the Florida panhandle because it is so cold and windy there in the winter and hot as blazes in the summer!

Elna June, in your professional opinion is Elena a real, believable character or is she an evil cartoon? I've never seen a mother as uncaring even when I worked in clinics in Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.

Your are right about that but Pensacola is so beautiful.

snow flurries were reported near here.
TG, we will be up to 70 late next week.

Elna June- LOL! I am a short version of you and Elena. Lots of shelf space... If you buy button-down tops big enough to fully cover the girls without tugging, they are so big on the rest of you that you look like you're wearing a maternity top. Knit and cotton fitted V-necks are the most flattering way to go (lets hope the wardrobe people think about this for Elena), but as your grandma said, you've always got cleavage. My solution- I wear tank tops under everything. It helps those fitted tops look decent and avoids any embarrassments in case one of those buttons on a button-down top decides to pop open (as usual). :)

This is the breast (ooops, I mean BEST) discussion we've had here in a long time. I'm definitely learning a lot :)

Back to the show. So it looks as if Evil Jorge wants to join forces with Bruno. While that sounds powerful, usually the bad guys have divergent goals, unlike the good guys, and sooner or later, they go against each other. Ulises, too, may want to go against Bruno and/or Jorge if he's cut out.

I felt sorry for Mari. I hate it when the rich, powerful characters always accuse the secretary, the maid, etc., when it was another richie who did the deed.

I felt bad for Mari but not too much because I knew Alex and Fernando would believe her.

Why would Mari, who wouldn't even tell VICTORIA secret information about Alex and Nando's DR trip, who kept Alex & MJ's divorce trip to Mexico City a secret...why would MARI all of a sudden open her yap and blab about Maura getting a phone call from Elena to Bruno or USELESS?

Does Mari even know Useless?

I'm glad to know that Alex and Fernando now know that Katia is spying again.

Sandy:
You know how hard it is (wink-wink) to armchair diagnose our fictional characters. But, thinking outloud...

They are writing Elena as a sociopath. These folks do exist but as a rule, sociopathy is maladaptave in society as a whole and people who are true sociopaths like Bruno and Elena rarely remain connected inside normal family systems and communities. A sociopath in a tight family or community is likely to run into the fact that other folks have needs and desires, and, after running over others' needs an endless number of times they usually are shunned. Allowing for cultural differences in our TN, even in wildly dysfunctional families like our beloved Lombardos, Bruno would likely have been kicked to the curb long ago. He is just too dangerous.

Elena seems to have been less in society and has hooked up with Dr. Dastardly for her survival so perhaps she is just barely believable. Her coldness seems wrong, though. A true sociopath would simply be indifferent.

Is Elena's coldness to her children believable? Not so much. But it makes a great plot device! ;)

Jardinera, fabulous. Your recaps are always funny, but this was especially good. Beginning with the title, it is chock full o' goodies. perhaps my favorite:

"His rather simplistic solution: make love and suddenly all the ugly thoughts turn into happy ones. "...

..."They hug and smooch and start turning those ugly thoughts into happy ones."

Then there's:

"Elena looks at him and laughs, no doubt admiring what an accomplished man-whore he has become."

Well worth a little wait. I think I'll now go fix myself a Tom Collins... if I can remember how.

Carlos

Thank you for the recap, Jardinera. I was having cable TV problems (Comcast a/k/a Comcrap) and while trying to fix it over the phone with them, I lost my recording of this episode. It will be eight days before they can get out to the house. Good thing I am not watching anything on Telefutura or Telemundo right now; those (and other) channels are not coming in. Argh!

elnajune - They wouldn't kick Bruno to the curb because they're all so co-dependent on each other.

Sandy in TN - we were in Knoxville for a wedding last night, and missed the 8° low here in Nashville. Low was only 19° up there this morning. I am ready for warmer weather..

Jardinera- Your recap was worth the wait! :-) I even giggled like a 5th grader at your title, with our earlier discussion about Elena's wardrobe issues at the forefront of my mind. Lol!

I loved the look on Zeke's and Arturo's faces in the kitchen as Pugster Paula laid into Raquel. You could tell they loved hearing someone else say all the things they have been thinking, but can't because of their status as loyal servants.

I think they showed us that scene of Roberto struggling to get out of bed to get to the hospital to show us that even though he is in such bad shape, he is still willing to spend all day and night at the hospital fretting about the baby and Raquel. He looked like a man with a lot of heavy burdens and decisions to make.

I loved that little scene of MJ, Alex and Tony in bed. The look of "heck no!" on Alex's face when MJ suggests postponing the wedding, and Tony gurgling his approval that MJ will now truly be Alex's mujer before the eyes of the law and their family. Too cute.

I thought Alex once again accepted Maura's lame excuses, as to why she has any involvement with Useless/Elena/Sandra, way too easily. Along with the out of character offer to help find the house. He seems to have a real blind spot when it comes to her that I can't figure out. Once again, if MJ knew about Mario Aguierre, there is no way she would have let Maura anywhere near her or her child, much less allowing her to take a picture of them.

I am not liking where things are going if Dr. Demented and Bruno team up. At least it looks like the not so good doctor shot down the baby kidnapping idea. They're just focused on MJ now. Given that Jorge has such a deep distrust, and I think hatred, of women, I wonder how he and Elena hooked up in the first place? He must have seen her rich widow status as an easy way to bankroll his clinic and experiments. What a pair they make! No wonder Don Porfirio can't stand them.

Hi Jardinera. What Carlos said.

Plus "tie her in a bag with snakes and dump her in the nearest lake", Jorge the Horrible and "pricked up his beady little rat ears". We've missed you, amiga.

I had to laugh at the" let's not be gloomy but have sex and be happy" scene. Seemed pretty realistic to me. Seems like whenever couples have a big fight or upset, guy wants to make love: gal wants to talk about it. Well, she has a better shot at talking about it after they make love (but of course he WILL fall asleep!).

Oh well, men and women process stress differently. It's a wonder anyone manages to stay married more than a few years.

Lord have mercy! My part of the lower Midwest rarely gets below zero temperatures, but man I've returned this week from visiting my son and DIL (and her family) in the Naples, FL area where we were waiste-high in the ocean on New Year's Eve day splashing away. It was a bit chilly the day before and the day after down there, but warmed up to the low 70's. Rude awakening coming home to half a foot or so of snow and -11 degrees windchill/-3 degrees below zero actual. Brrr!
==========
BTW, sorry about the typo's which I've struggled to correct. Hopefully you'll manage to forgive them since Santa Clause brought me a much needed computer that now places me back in the 21st century, technologically speaking. There are always bugs and quirks to work out when posting. The systems seem to communicate a little differently when it comes to posting things.

ViviDC: Ha! I was reading all the comments and enjoying the way you and Elna June "shelved" the situation. I'm chuckling myself at the title now that you mention it! Sometimes I'm just too close to things to see them at first.

Carlos/JudyB: The bedroom "lecture" was definitely a tongue-biter for me. I laughed and I growled. Judy, you are so right about the "correct" order of things. I just had to chuckle. Carlos, I'm too old to even care to remember how to mix a Tom Collins!! LOL!

Doris: right now cable t.v. is a major curse word for me. It ranks with some of the choice 4-letter anglo-saxon kind. They called and cancelled our work order 3 times before Hubby called and screamed at them to get it right for once. He heard the supervisor scream that she wanted to know who kept cancelling the dates on us. Nobody would answer her of course. Check back with me after next Tuesday when they're supposed to have finished the digital/HD and internet switch-over. I still have to wait for the phone switch 10 days after that, though, or we lose the internet's use for 10 days, too. If ever there was a reason for "competition", the cable curse is it. >: > /

Great recap. Well worth the wait!

I so wish the whole twin sister/money grab plot line hadn't even surfaced, the characters involved are so awful. I can't quite figure our what it is about Elena that makes me shrug. She's supposed to be money-grubbing and she's so heartless she would use her own kiddies to get what she wants. Maybe it's the way the actress plays her. She seems almost too laid back. She should take a few lessons from Carlota the purple queen to work on some evil stares.

As for the "good" doctor, yikes! Can we just call him Frankenstein? Transferring brain cells...really? What a wack job and Elena seems fine with it. Make that two wack jobs. But it does look like the bambinos in this TN are safe. Let the adults do whatever to each other, but leave those angels alone.

Happy to see Roberto staying with his commitment to the baby, doesn't matter how ill or if it's really his. I think we can safely say he is our redeemed character and has moved fully from the dark
side.

Can't say the same for Maura. Wow! Talk about being obsessed. What does it take to get her to realize she will never win Alex. After he tells her to bug off, she seeks revenge. But I honestly think she feels she'll be rewarded with Alex's love after she destroys his wife and child. Okay, make that three wack jobs.

Fer and Vic - I figured our that even their lovey-dovey talk doesn't turn me off, but when she reaches up and does that face grab for a kiss, I'm done. I agree it's bleech!

And someone, anyone, I beg you, make Katia go away!

My new favorite threesome: Cuco, little Tony and new little baby. Show them all cuddled together sleeping. Now that's a couple seconds of screen time I could take.

Keep warm everyone!

Thanks, Jardinera:

I so enjoy your recaps. I have a few loose threads to tie up from Friday's episode:
1. Does la niña have a name?
2. Any of you legal eagles out there, what would the custody situation be in a situation like Roberto's? Seems complicated at first glance.
3. If Sandra is brain damaged isn't she at risk from the resident Dr. Mengele? He hated her before, why would he keep her alive?
4. So Bruno and Jorge the Horrible team up; so what? Team up to do...what?

Thanks, all, for the weekend conversation.

Gracias Jardinera, worth the wait.

Fernando is nuts for getting Katía back in Lombardo Inmobilaria. There are MacDonalds in Mexico.

I was looking at TV y Novelas in el mercado & it tells what's wrong with Lisette, but I'll zip my lip.

Don't forget Ladrón tonight 8PM EST
Colunga!!!!!

Jardinera thanks for the recap it was well worth the wait.

Dr. Jorge told Elena that they won't being going along with Useless stupid plot.

When Elena bought up Useless plot of kidnapping baby Tony to get MJ to pose as Sandra.

So it seems he not only doesn't want to kidnap the baby, but he wants Useless not to be involved at all.

It looks like he just wants to get MJ and after he checked all the info on the Lombardos on the internet.

It looks like he plans to recruit Bruno, this is definitely not good for MJ and Alex.

I thought Ales looked kind of suspicious of Maura after she gave her excuse of how she knew Elena.

Why would she overreact like that with Mari if her knowing Paula and MJ's mother was as innocent as she proclaimed.

Alex is trying to figure out i guess what she is up to.

Loved Paula telling everyone at the table how she feels about Raqhell, and enjoyed the look of glee on Ezeke face and Arturo's.

It looks like from the avance for Monday that Useless has run out of luck. Someone was shooting him in the neck with a syringe.

Probably Dr. Demented, i suggested this method to Hernan the night Mad Dog Bruno found out he was Antonio Lombardo's son too.

Daisynjay LOL at your assessments of the three whack jobs.As for Maura i'm not surprised since she sought revenge towards Alex with her Mario Aguirre plot.

Hopefully all of the villains will get their just rewards in the end.

Frankenstein was exactly what I was thinking.

He & the mouse made me wonder, who is taking care of Bruno's snake? maybe they just threw that in, in case they wanted it to go somewhere with it.

From what I understand, Roberto &
Raquel are married, so any children are theirs, unless Roberto would want to contest it with a DNA test.

Variopinta i said that myself a long time ago about miss little skank.

She needs to work a local McDonalds we'll see how much time she'll have to spend gossiping about burgers and fries with Bruno then.

Elna June:
I don't think they have a name yet for the little girl. As for Roberto, as Raquel's husband, there really isn't a custody issue unless Uli would come forward, demand a DNA test and then go for some sort of custody (or more than likely with him,a settlement.) But it seems from the previews Dr. Frankenstein may have other plans for him. It all comes down to the DNA test. If it's Roberto's, and the divorce is final, he could sue for full custody and I would think even Victoria would be fine with that. If he isn't the father, and Uli is out of the picture, Victoria could step forward as the grandmother or Alex or Bruno (perish the thought) as siblings for custody. Courts in the US usually try to grant custody to a family member.
Anyone else think they won't paint Raquel as a drunken mother for long? Two evil mothers with no hearts in one TN may be too much.

I should have added that I imagine that the courts in Mexico would be similiar in giving custody to a family member if they won't give to Roberto outright if the child isn't his.
I have known of cases where the non-biological father has stepped forward who helped raise the child and won custody when family members agreed.

Thanks, Jardinera; it was well worth waiting for, so astute and funny as usual.

Elena is a greedy, heartless mess and she and "Dr. Mengele" (good one)are true instruments of upcoming evil (take some of MJ's brain tissue?? Good grief.) The only part of the Elena story that I really want to see is the eventual meeting between her and Pedro. Both have some 'splainin' to do and that should be good.

hmmmm, in true novela tradition, Alex & MJ will be raising that child, so it sounds like Ulises must be the papá, & he is somehow terminated. Dr. Frakenstein maybe?

But then again, Carla likes to surprise us & goes against the usual.

Loved the recap Jardinera and the conversation everyone, it's been awhile!

I'm chuckling over the Elena wardrobe comments, is is just me or does the camera always zoom in on Elena's cleaveage then climb up to her face? Hombre de Misterio are you really the cameraman?

It's funny how some of you are so gaga over MJ and Alex's scenes...maybe I'm cold hearted but while Alex does seem very wonderful and loving, MJ just seems super whiny and annoying to me always crying, hand-wringing and draped over the furniture. Woe is me... There were times when Alex was lost that she seemed strong and ready to fight for what she wants, now she's back to being a wet rag. Snap out of it lady, I'm not seeing what Alex is seeing in you!

Hope everyone keeps warm, here in the NW we are ok, but I was very dissapointed at the cold in Austin over Christmas, ususally I get a nice spring-like vacation from the drizzle here...not this year!

I think that as parents, Roberto & Raquel could refuse to have Raquelita (can't believe I said that)
subjected to a DNA test.
I'm sure Ulises isn't interested unless there is dinero involved.

Thanks, Jardinera. Another sterling recap. Really liked the Dr. Mengele of Mexico. Your alliteration rocks!

Elna June, Horrible Jorge would definitely want Sandra to recover because she's the only link to Porfirio's Pesos. If he finds out she's dead, bye bye bucks for his medical research. Porfirio would cut Horrible and Elena off in a NY minute.

I think I must have dozed off for part of this episode. Several of you have commented that kidnapping the baby was now off the table. I don't remember anyone confirming that.

Now this makes no sense to me. Elena had identical twins 3 years of age, but she has to have a photo to confirm they are identical? Sheesh. If they were identical then, they're identical now, except for hair and makeup choices and (in the case of Sandra) maybe tattoos and body piercings.

Somehow I don't think Elena is 100% bad to the bone. She's scared of Horrible Jorge. And the excellent actress has shown us occasional glimpses of a desire to see MJ and know how she's doing. I think she's a bit, just a bit, pleased she turned out so well.

I could scream every time Meowra and Alex interact. Why in the world isn't he more forceful with her? He already has the presidency. He told her to stay out of his personal life, but it was so gentle that I don't think it really got to her.

Ah, come on Randy. MJ's not so bad. She didn't start fretting again until she found out her papa was in jail, and that's the only thing she's upset about. Even when Bruno was threatening her throughout her pregnancy she didn't give in or take it too seriously (hence part of the reason why she's so upset about the situation with her dad). Once her dad is out of jail, and not getting beat up, I think she'll be fine again.

-Vivi in DC

Even identical twins can change so much over the years that they don't look identical anymore (weight for example could change things significantly), so I suppose Elena just wants to confirm that the two could actually pass for each other (with the right hair and makeup).

Good point, Anonymous at 5:32. I hadn't considered that one of them could have gotten fat.

Sandra hasn't seen abuelo in 7 years, so he has no idea what she would look like now.

Maybe Jorge and Elena are not just planning on MJ passing for Sandra, but also the other way around? That would explain why the two have to look alike. Not sure how they'd pull it off, but surely they don't want two "Sandras" on their hands at the same time.

-Vivi in DC

Thanks for the recap, Jardinera. It was great.

I skimmed comments only so forgive me if I'm repeating, but what does Maura get out of Elena's plan? Alex is still gonna be crazy about MJ.

The picture of MJ and the baby was too cute. How could anyone want to plot anything against that.

Alex is a super hero. ITA Jardinera. Everyone must be in awe. Is there anything this guy can't do besides see a few obvious things that he manages to miss.

Ok I'm going back to reading comments.

Jardineria, Fun, Fun, Fun....There are so very many cute tidbits in your recap, but I’m afraid I have to be a copy cat and say the subtly in the “They hug and smooch and start turning those ugly thoughts into happy ones......” was so accurate and so them! Thanks for soldering on with all the technical difficulties.

Elna June...I knew you would have something for us to hang our hats on regarding Elena. I’m just glad she’s decided to keep her legs on the ground and her skirts down around her ankles, her leg rubbing in the beginning was very unusual to say the least. With her leg action, the camera REALLY wouldn’t know where to focus.

Randy Sea, I don’t like it when MJ cries either, but are we being hard on her, her father is in the carcel? I’m afraid that she will revert to the early days of constant tears. She is at her best when she in energized with anger.

Doris, you and my husband passed on the highway today, he and a friend were on the way to Knoxville for a game, you were returning from the wedding!!

Jardinera, as many already wrote, great recap. I really enjoyed it esp. your oh so vivid descriptions. Personal favorite was the Vicky-Fern "funky priss-kiss" -- sheer perfection. I also see, viewing the abridged youtube videos leaves a lot of the non Alex-MJ scenes out, so many thanks for filling all those gaps Jardinera!

Also, many thanks to the Caray-Caray folks always concerned about the weather's impact on those of us living in the land of the deep freeze. As a Chicago 'burb resident, your commiseration is much appreciated!!

Hey there, everybody! Thanks everybody for being so patient and then so appreciative of the effort to get the recap up. Glad it was worth the read. I'm having a gigglefest with all your comments about the plot and the characters. Elena/Adela Robinson is seemingly tuning down her character. Maybe she is trying to subtly show what a mistake she made hooking up with Jorge. What a friggin' monster! Wonder if she's ready to trade the good life to return to the smurf yet. Naw. Probably not. Jorge was right about her enjoying the good life too much. Between those leg rubs and and the 44DDD bust that never allows for a button to stay buttoned I just got to gasp if not actually gag.....
Elna June - I enjoyed your insightful discussion about her and Bruno's likely and less likely sociopathological proclivities. Spices up the blog learning about things like that from fellow bloggers.

Uggh! Now I'm suffering internet problems with the new computer. Gonna have to exchange it. It's got a BIOS boo-boo I didn't cause. Isn't technology wunnerful? Sheesh! Using hubby's here to stay connected to the etherworld and y'all. Hubby's dragging himself through the house in between horrid coughing bouts and snuffle-fests, poor guy. A regular 6'2" papoose on the couch. Can you imagine Alex with a red nose, bleary eyes and a very drippy nose? Not exactly a macho image, now is it?

The avances for Monday--
I don't recall Uli getting a hypodermic in the neck. I DO remember Dr. Hernan putting a hand on Roberto's shoulder and saying the hijo isn't his.

So, all speculation as to custody is still both on and off the table. Raqui and Bobo are still married, but I can't see Roberto getting custody without getting a job and a nanny. A job at Lombardo's is possible (but he's in international relations, remember?), and there's already an enfermera at la Casa Grande.

We know Uli won't want the baby. He's already said as much. Raquel may come around with mama's help--either that or she keeps drinking herself into oblivion.

Can't wait to find out who baby Raqui winds up with. I hope she and Tony get a chance to grow up together. She certainly was a big beautiful baby.
Newbie in Md.

Newbie in Md. on the youtube advance I saw Uly did get stabbed with something in the neck but I couldn't tell if it was a hypo. needle, a pen knife or letter opener. It was some pointy item to the neck, so I guess we'll see on Monday. Whatever it was, I think Uly's days are numbered-- not a spoiler just a feeling since Dr. Jorge clearly doesn't want him around any longer.

wonderful, muy wonderful recap. Many thanks.

Thanks for the recap Jardinera. I haven't had a chance to read all the comments yet so will probably check back in later.

With the wind chill we've been in the negative numbers in Kansas/Missouri. Way too cold for me. It's 22 today and feels like a heat wave!

Thanks Jardinera for the recap. It was worth waiting for. I have satalite because my cable company took univision off their channels. It is much better anyway. I can't stand Elana's husband. It is such a contrast to the caracter the actor plays as Salvador on Un Gancho al Corazon. I mentioned the other day that I thought it was the same actor and now I feel sure that it is. The actor does a great job portraying demented and evil. It looks like he and Elana have plenty of money already so did I miss something or maybe they are just greedy. Anyway everyone keep warm. Lynda

Also I think the actress that plays Mari also played the secretary (I think her name was Lulu) on Las Tontas on van el cielo.

You're right Lynda. That is Sal from Gancho and Lulu from Tontas.

I hate it when the secretary always gets blamed.

Hi Everybody. The 7 pm Gancho recappers and viewers are in trouble. Univision is planning to switch our show to the 3 pm slot in order to put a new show on at 8 pm (moving ENDA to 7 pm). We are going to lose viewers and commenters who work and don't have recording capabilities. Please join us e-mailing Univision to protest this radical scheduling change. We need your help!

Carlos has put in a link to the Univision site on our Gancho line today.

What JudyB is this information for real i thought Gancho was doing well with it's ratings?

Ihave seen this happen twice to two novelas on Telemundo one of them was one by Eduardo Yanez. The other had the actress Paola Rey.

The ratings for Gancho must not be good.

Now they are jumping ENDA to 7pm oh boy, what the heck is going on.

I wonder if that Hasta something novela is going into ENDA timeslot.

Has this ever happened before on Univision?

Thanks, Jardinera. I always enjoy your view on the craziness. Last night, our main computer developed big problems , and Hub was on the phone with a Dell rep [some guy in the Philippines]. The problem is still not resolved, so I am on the other computer. He is not a happy camper right now since tax season is approaching.

Anonymous...yes, they're putting Hasta El Dinero Nos Separe on at 8 pm. ENDA at 7pm. Sortilegio it's usual time. Starting next Monday.

As far as I know, the ratings were good. But usually 7 pm shows are not as well-watched as the 8 and 9 pm shows. But we recappers LOVE this show. It is by far our favorite of those we've recapped in the last few years.

SO WE'D SURE APPRECIATE YOUR HELP TRYING TO KEEP IT AT 7 PM.

OT...Judy I suggested they move Nombre del amour instead.

Let me echo Judy's plea for help. This link to Univision is for the English comments page. I've been watching TNs for quite some time and have seen this happen at least once before with a TN that featured a deaf-mute(but not really)female lead. I also vaguely recall another instance where that occurred. We love our Gancho. It is the funniest comedy I've seen in years in any language. It's every bit as funny as Cheers or Seinfeld. The characters are all endearing, even (especially?) the bad guys. We appreciate your help with this.

Carlos

Well just sat down, notebook in hand, subtitles on, to watch the 1st capitulo of Amor Real. It starts next Monday.

Hi, Judy B:

Will e-mail Univision today re: the schedule change. How bizarre! Is it OK to e-mail them in English?

EJ

Thanks always to the recappers!!!

I hate it too that Alex is too forgiving w/ Maura; I think men in general though tend to be soft on their exes, especially since he and Maura didn't seem to have a bad history.

Why in the world would anyone make a suggestion that ENDA be moved instead.

Sorry that's not the right way to go about getting support, I'm sorry for you Gancho fans.

While i don't watch that novela at all i just don't like Rulli, i know it has a following.

ENDA has a following also and i would never make a suggestion if the situation was in reverse to switch Gancho instead.

There's a right way to appeal to someone to support a cause and a wrong way to put people off from helping out.

While Gancho may have been getting good ratings, those ratings were not on the level or as strong as the ones ENDA is garnering.

Does this mean the Yañez telenovela will hit the 9:00 spot after Sorti?

Anon at 5:21 that is a very good question.

It seems Univision is using a method we have seen used a lot in American TV programming.A very popular show that gets good ratings used as a lead in for a show the station is not to sure about garnering ratings.

If this was the case then Univision should have done the smart thing and put this Hasta El Dinero Nos Separe on in the 3:00 pm timeslot.

Since Univision decided by the comments from the Gancho followers to move their novela instead.

I would say that would not be a wise move at all to put the new version of CS in a primetime slot.

The Gancho followers say their show is getting decent ratings and did not deserve to be moved.

Someone mentioned about a week ago that this new novela that was coming Hasta started off in Mexico by getting very good ratings and is now not doing so well at all.

Then you have Eduardo Yanez CS novela that people are saying is doing very poorly in the ratings.

How could they justify by CS to replace Sorti, after doing something like this.

I checked my Comcast listings for the next week (not this week) and everything was business-as-usual. Are y'all sure about this change?

I remember Gata Salvaje got switched by Looneyvision when it was on, but since I didn't watch it I can't remember if it was night to afternoon or afternoon to night.

JARDINERA - I'm so sorry about your computer problems. Been there, done that with my computer over the years. Argh....Technology - can't live with it and can't live without it.

Hasta Que El Dinero Nos Separe is doing good. All the ratings for novelas tend to drop during the holidays but they have stabilized their numbers by now. In fact, even during the usual ratings drop of december HQEDNS kept its first place on television.

I wouldn't put HQEDNS at 3 pm because its not only a success in México, but it is also a hit in other countries like Perú and Chile. While there's no way to know if it will also have success in USA they atleast know that it's been doing great in several places. I'd wait for ENDA to run it's course and then I'd put it at 8 pm.

I don't think Corazón Salvaje will ever recover and do well in México. But they are going to change the opening sequence to try and make it more atractive to viewers.

Thanks to all of you who have written in to protest the time change.

Doris, on our schedules, it's showing the change coming next Monday. Hopefully, they'll rethink this and keep everything just as it is. Gancho. ENDA. and then Sortilegio.

I just left a comment at Univision site for them to please not move our show from 7:00. I will be so upset if they move that show. Thanks for letting everyone know.

Anon (why don't you anons choose nom de plumes for yourselves or give yourselves numbers? I never know which one of you I'm talking to.) no one from the Gancho blog has requested that Univision change ENDA instead of our show. Many of our group follow ENDA as well. We have only asked for help in trying to get the Univ. people to change their minds . This switch will affect ENDA as well which would now be on at 6:00pm CST. This no doubt will cause disruptions as well. If you don't like Gancho... fine . Then don't help us, but we don't appreciate being labeled selfish and boorish by anyone, especially by someone who hides behind anon, for something we're not guilty of. I invite you to join us sometime to see what a cordial little group we are. I happen to be recapping tonight, join us. You might like it. I've no doubt that Bonney was only trying to help out. I don't think that she even watches Gancho, at least she hasn't commented there as I recall. I think that she simply didn't consider all the implications that this switch means.

Just read the synopsis for the new telenova. Can't say it sounds interesting. Even says there are no villans - WHAT? Telenova with no decent villans? :) apparently more of a comedy, or tramedy I guess. Just don't think I can get into a show where the main character works at a car dealership. Looks like I'll be taking a break between ENDA and Sorti.

What exactly is your problem anyway Carlos with someone who wants to remain anonymous?

This not the first time you have made a snide remark on this subject either.

As for boorish your comment itself takes that description by a landslide.

Join you? Don;t get upset with my comment because it hit a nerve it's the truth, that person suggested in their post that they move ENDA which i am a fan of.

I have the right to point out the incorrectness of that suggestion, I neither watch Gancho nor will ever give it my support based on comments such as yours and that person.

So grow up and move on.

anon, ummm, thanks for your sagacious advice.

Carlos

One more thing Carlos let's make this very clear who do you think you are to demand someone to name themselves for your benefit.

If it bothers you so much just ignore anyone's who uses Anonymous that's all very simple.

For the record i have never gone on the Gancho recap page and thank god for that.

I was responding to a comment made on this page, and the person i was responding if they didn't like my comment.

Why aren't they adult enough to respond to it.

In the future i will make sure to skip over all of your post from here on out.I suggest you do the same.

Always Anonymous this is America last time i checked.

Carlos~~~Thanks for the link to Univision. I think that they should leave the 7.00 to 9.00 lineup just as it is. Variopinto~~~Thanks for the reminder about Amor Real on Telefuturo. Our cable company recently changed a lot of our channel numbers and gave us extra channels, so I now get Telemundo and Telefuturo in addition to Unision. I am looking forward to rewatching Amor Real. I am also looking forward to Corazon Salvaje. The Mexican audience wasn't crazy about Pasion , but many of us here loved it. I've surfed CS on Youtube a bit and liked what I saw even though I didn't understand much of the dialogue. What's not to like about Big Ed Yanez with long, flowing locks and high boots ? Plus, we get Christian de Fuentes as a bonus . I'm in. Think positive and have a Tom Collins. It's all good.

Thanks Susanlynn, I posted the Gancho recap for tonight a few minutes. I think you will enjoy it. It was a killer episode.

Stay warm!

Carlos

If you ever saw the '93 version, with EP and EG, you would understand. EP's interpretation of JDD is the ultimate galan. ;o)

Doris~~~I've watched some of that version on Youtube, and the guy just does not do it for me. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

I looked for Amor Real recaps, was that before Caray Caray?
