Dinero 107 &108- 5-20-10: Hopefully You Won't Throw a Vicky/Marco Sized Tantrum

All- I must apologize but this evening my boss informed me she wouldn't be able to attend a meeting with the President of our organization that is happening first thing tomorrow morning, and asked me to attend in her place. I need to spend the evening prepping (with one eye on the show of course) but can't spend the time recapping. I am so sorry, and hope to never have to bail on you again. Please feel free to comment with any details you remember from tonight's show.

-Vivi

I couldn’t leave you with nothing. The quick and dirty:

Two main things happened tonight:

1) Our not so dumb Love Nurse Rubi suggests to Rosario, Jorge and Marco that they move to the hacienda temporarily while the city house is having work done on it. That’s the lie they told Jorge, instead of telling him the house has been embargoed. This makes Marco nervous as heck and he and Rosario tell her to butt out. They say it won’t work because 1) The hacienda is embargoed and the administrator won’t allow it; and 2) It would be a 2-3 hour drive for Ale to get to work each day. Our smart Rubi suggests that she has many clients..er, patients that are well connected lawyers and judges and can help them. And as for Ale, surely she can stay with Marco (a no no for proper Jorge) or with a single amiga during the week, and come to the hacienda on the weekends. She makes a call to one of these connected clients later and gets the ball rolling on figuring out this whole hacienda mess. Rosario lets it slip that the administrator’s name is Chavez and our Smart Rubi has figured out that it’s the same guy who is Marco’s strip club buddy, and she confronts him about it. He’ll make sure that she and Jorge get to go to the finca, or else! Marco confers with his better half, Chavez, and Chavez suggests that Marco seduce Rubi to get her on their side. He provides him with some special pills to help him with his recent bedroom problem. Rubi accepts his invitation to his apartment, but thought bubbles that there is an opportunity for a lot of money in this whole shady deal. (I really believe that Rubi cares for Jorge, but hey, a girl’s got to live. And she sees an opportunity to con some con men.)
2) Rafa makes a huge effort to get to the bottom of this Ale/Rafa/beach/romance rumor, reclaim Ale’s reputation amongst the staff, and clear his name with Ale. He has each of the staff confirm that they did not hear it from him. Claudia admits that it was Marino who got hold of the receipt from the hotel that lit fire to the rumor. Ale is mortified by the whole conversation and still doesn’t believe Rafa had nothing to do with it. Rafa doesn’t give up. He confronts Marino and speaks to Clara in accounting directly, who confirms she provided the receipt to Marino. Rafa assures her she won’t get fired if she writes a statement saying what happened. Rafa gives it to Beltran and gets his agreement that this is grounds for firing Marino. Beltran almost fires Marino…until Marino dangles a big multi-million possible sale in front of his greedy face. Marino stays, and poor Clara (much to Rafa’s dismay) gets the axe from Beltran (jerk!).

Other happenings: Rafa and Ale must go to a cocktail party together to celebrate Siglo’s anniversary (Marco is not happy and neither is Vicky); the construction work continues to give Rafa his own office- the problem is everyone has to walk through Ale’s office to get to it; Rafa gets a company credit card and is forced to take on a car loan to have a company car (he's not happy about having more debt); and Pepeto has his first day, and matches Claudia in flirting skills.

Vivi, no puede ser. Just kidding. This is one amazingly complete recap for a recap that was not to be. Thanks for spending probably some of your sleep time to do this. Your boss, at the last moment, needs you to prepare this evening for tomorrow. Wow, it's like telenovela life intersects with real life.

Best scenes tonight: Ale confronts Rafa with the Vicky/Rafa picture. She gets him to admit that he kept the picture of him and her at the fiesta as well as the reconstructed letter of recommendation as his only keepsakes of her. She is secretly suprised and pleased.
My second best scene was Susana and Ale gossiping about each of their experiences with that crazy Vicky.

P.S. Title of recap= Very funny

Vivi, good luck today. Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to still give us a recap. I agree with Barbara, great title.

There were alot of great moments yesterday. I love that our Ruby is such a smart cookie. This gave us some pretty funny Marco and Chavez moments as they try to put out another fire.

I hated Marino. I literally felt sick to my stomach when he was talking to beltran and got Clara fired. He is so evil!! Loved Rafa going to bat for her later.

And of course am enjoying the Ale and Rafa time together.
am off to work but will check back in later.

Vivi, thanks for the terrific recap in spite of your being so busy.

"Our not so dumb Love Nurse" and "(I really believe that Rubi cares for Jorge, but hey, a girl’s got to live. And she sees an opportunity to con some con men.)" were great.

Also, hope your meeting this morning goes well.

Vivi, good luck with your meeting! And thank you for taking time to post the recap. It's short but amazingly complete. You are magic.

Rubi literally sits on a gold mine. One phone call and a lawyer is at her service. I'm amazed how the writers managed to create the characters that are so flawed, but so lovable at the same time.

One additional happening of lower significance: Pepeto's first day at Siglo.

Vivi, thanks for putting up the recap. I hope you had enough time to get your work done. Did your boss give you a call to get you up this morning? :)

I think Rafa got Clara's job back. I think in the end, Beltran was going to take some money, money, money out of her pay.
When I saw Marino going to talk to Beltran by himself I thought he would throw Clara under the bus. He did that and saved his own job by hitting Beltran in the money, money, money spot.

Pepeto at least now has someone who will at least talk to him in Claudia, tease him quite a bit, flirt a lot. He was getting no where with Monica.

That Rubi is one smart cookie.

All- Back from my meeting. It went very well, and we may have a new strategic partner for our whole national organization and a new funder for our local program. To be fair to my boss, her (adult) daughter is having a medical issue, and needed her mother's support today. She called her mom yesterday evening, and then my boss called me. I'm perfectly fine with her daughter being her priority.

Thanks for being so understanding about my last minute flaking on you. After the show ended, I just typed up what I remembered really quickly (literally 10 minutes) before it slipped my mind. I didn't catch that Clara was re-hired (I must have actually been concentrating on my work with 100% of my brain at that moment), so thanks for pointing that out. :)

Rubi is turning out to be a more complex character than she was initially shown to be. The work she took on with Jorge was actaully losing her money. Remember she told Marco and Chavez that her hourly rates for her clients worked out to far more than the flat salary they were paying her to "nurse" Jorge. But she took it on anyway. Seems like our girl likes adventure and trying new things. She seemed to become enchanted with the idea of a hacienda and really wants to go there and experience it, and nothing and no one will stand in her way. Plus she thinks the fresh air and countryside will be good for her Georgie. And now she smells that something shady is going on and she might be able to benefit from it somehow. At this point I have no idea how she will use the info she will surely gather from her connections and from her interaction with Marco and Chavez. Will she blackmail M&C for money? Will she make them give Jorge back his hacienda in exchange for her silence? Will she blow the whole thing wide open and be part of M&C's final downfall? Will she get bored with the whole thing and move on to another adventure elsewhere? I love that she's such a mystery and unpredictable at this point.

Unfortunately I had to miss last night - thank you Vivi for the recap, especially under the circumstances! Sounds like I missed some good scenes. Is this show online like CS is?

I, too, am enjoying that Rubi is turning out to be a complex character. I have the feeling she is probably going to be a good guy and help Georgi as she really seems to care about him.

Previews look like there will be some sweeter Ale and Rafa time. :)

Dave, I removed your comment because it was a spoiler. We don't post any advances beyond what is seen in the previews. Thanks.

Vivi,

You packed a lot of information into a few words. Nice job. Even more importantly, you successfully took care of real life business. Good for you.

So Marco is going to take some Viagra and get together with Nurse Rubilicious. Gee, what could possibly go wrong?

Cóctels for Alejandra and Rafael. Both Vicki and Marco know... Uh... OK.

Thanks, Vivi - that was a great recap! Let's hope we get some good Rafa/Ale time at the party this evening. Wonder if they can work some songs in?

I wanted to share some photos to the awards ceremony we had for our students last week. These are inner-city high school students from the DC area who have worked hard to head to college next fall. Yay!

Vivi, thanks for the recap. I've been so busy today, I couldn't comment earlier. I actually missed most of the second half of the show, and since you wrote your recap right after it ended, you included all the stuff from part 2 that I missed. Thanks!

I loved the pictures of the high school students. Their happy faces just radiate joy, and it's well deserved as they get ready for college.

Vivi,

Good for you, good for the teachers, and most of all... good for those youngsters. Thanks for sharing this wonderful good news with us.

Carlos

ViVi, you have some extraordinary recapping skills even more so since i you recapped in 10 minutes. Wow!

Marco has lost his mind. Maybe the with the Viagra, he'll lose his vision and/or his hearing since I know they are possible side effects of no importance. Maybe we'll get lucky. Just kidding.

Is Marino Clara's baby daddy? I've forgotten.

Oooo, a Rafa/Ale possible beso on the horizon....can't wait.

GinCA

GInCA, yes Marino is the father of Clara's baby. So he had the mother of one of his many children fired. No one knows, so he used this to blackmail Clara into giving him the info about the hotel expenses. He is without a doubt scum.

Thanks, Barbara, I thought I vaguely remembered that but was thinking Marino's not concerned for her or the kid. But then, it's typical Marino who only thinks of himself.
