Dinero # 154 7/14/2010 The return of the black panther

Sorry this will have to be a short one tonight. Got home late and have an early morning. I know I missed a lot and didn't add much vocab. Please feel free to add and or correct.

We have last nights leftovers, with Marco overjoyed with Ale’s so called change of heart. She is asking him to be patient with her. Marco assures her nothing will ruin their relationship this time. Everything will be different. He tells her he will not make the same mistakes. Ale looks like she is getting root canal as Marco goes to kiss her goodnight. She tells him they will talk in the morning. He tells her to have a good night and dream about him. She walks to the corner and says a little silent prayer and we hear Marco’s inner demon saying “ It doesn’t matter what she feels or doesn’t feel for me I am going to get married under whatever conditions she wants.”

Is that birthday party still going on? Yep. Marino first gets mad at Ramirez for ditching the lovely lady he set him up with than gets mad at Pepito for dancing with her. Then Dandy sees an opportunity to take over from Pepito. Marino is less happy with this and goes after Dandy as well asking him what would his little vegetarian think about this. Our poor young woman just wants to have fun and she isn‘t having any fun with Ramirez. She tells Sandra she is leaving. When Sandra asks why she tells her because Marino ruined it, grabs her purse and angrily tells her they will talk in the morning. Ramirez is also off as he thanks Marino for the party. He has a lady waiting for him.

Over at Rafa’s house we have some one else who has ruined all of Vicky’s fun. Vicky has poor Rafa half undressed when Lenora walks in and tells Vicky it is about time she goes home. Vicky tries to talk Rafa into going somewhere else and Rafa begs off. Once Vicky leaves he gratefully thanks Lenora. Than he tells her he has good news. He got his car back. (oh the simple pleasures of life.)

Rafa, Lenora and Juliette all go outside to celebrate. They have a toast to welcome back the panther. Rafa also has to make sure it still starts. And they have another drink.

Ale tip toes to her new bedroom with her new roommate Tia Rosario, peacefully asleep. Ale says a little prayer to God to forgive her for using Marco like this. After all she has to do something to get Rafa to react. We have Rafa in his room praying to Santa Claus to help him not allow Ale to marry Marco.

Marino is now charming Sandra. She asks him if he is married, divorced, or separated. He tells her none of the three. He is single, that is until she decides otherwise. She asks him if he has any children and Marino chokes a little bit and says no but a little girl would make them both crazy. (Was that a pick-up line?)

Our cartoon rooster is on the picket fence letting us all know a new day has begun. Rafa’s phone rings and he is all excited thinking it is Ale. He’s not that lucky. It is Vicky. She wants some help with writing their wedding vows. Rafa tells her is he quite busy and Vicky says not to worry she will write them for the both of them. Over at camp Marco, Ale’s phone rings. She is all excited thinking it might be Rafa. Nope it is Marco calling from the bar telling her he loves her. She has no reply to this. He wants to know if he should come and get her later so they could have lunch together. She tells him she will be to busy but will call him later.

The Siglo crew have arrived at Auto Siglo. We have some talk about last night’s festivities. Claudia get’s a phone call from Marco and fines a secluded corner to talk with him. Gossip girl (Rosaura) not far behind, manages to sneak a listen. Marco is drilling her for information about Rafa and Ale. Claudia wants to know if something is going on between them. Marco offended by this tells her that he and Ale are getting Married. Claudia is quite surprised by this news, but not as surprised as Marco is to hear that Ale hasn’t told anyone yet. Marco informs her that Rafa isn’t the great salesman he is pretending to be. She can’t believe this.

Rafa shows up to Siglo and tells Susana to get everyone ready for the meeting. Then he asks her to get the door fixed to his office.

Rosaura wants Claudia to share her gossip. Who is getting married? Claudia tells her it is Ale and Marco. Rosaura is stunned at this news. Aren’t they fighting? Claudia tells her they are getting married at the end of the month. Now it is Claudia’s turn to grill Rosaura about Rafa’s resume. Did she see it? Does she remember what it said? (for all of you who didn’t see this from the beginning Rafa’s original resume wasn’t up to Ale’s standards and she and Susana made up a bunch of things so Beltran would hire him. That‘s the resume that Rosaura saw.) She tells Claudia about all his wonderful experience and all of his schooling. Claudia’s little brain is a whirl as she takes this all in. Rosaura wants to know why she is interested. Claudia says just curious, and slyly changes the subject.

The funniest scene of the whole night. Marco answers his phone and can barely hear who is on the other end. It is Chavez. Marco wants to know where in the devil is he. He is in Bagdad sitting crossed legged sucking on a rubber hose dressed in a white gown complete with a checkered head dress. (I fell off my chair). He tells him he can’t imagine how much he misses Mexico. “The people are really strange. And the women are covered up to their heads and you can barely see their eyes and she can’t say anything witty to them. And no they don’t sell whiskey any where and every so often bullets go flying by. I just want to come back, no matter what happens.” Marco tells him he has good news. He is going to get married. Chavez asks “Who, Carmela?” Marco tells him not to be an idiot, who else, Ale. Chavez is quite surprised and wants to know how that happened. Marco tells him it was Ale who asked him to marry her. He tells him that in order for the old man to make it to the wedding it is really important to find Ruby (yes!!) and make her return to Mexico. He tells Marco he doesn’t speak English and if he tries to speak English everyone gives him ugly looks and yells at him. He doesn’t think they really like the gringos. And of course he doesn’t speak “Iraqui”. Marco yells at him and tells him to call him when he finds Ruby and hangs up him.

Chavez is left thinking that this all sounds quite strange. Marco tells him he is going to marry Ale but it is important that he find Ruby and in the meantime Marco is having a great time (pasar la bomba ) while bombs are literally passing over Chavez head. Maybe he was lying about Carmela and he just wanted to get him out of the country so he could take his place at the Hacienda. Just than bombs drop and Chavez tells himself to stop thinking bad things about his good friend Marco.

Ale has arrived dressed in a very smart royal blue pantsuit. She asks Susana if Rafa has showed up yet. She also wants to know when they are going to put the door up in her office. Susana informs her that Rafa has already asked about this. Ale seems miffed at this and heads off to the meeting

Trapito drops off a few things for Susana. A care package for Rosaura and a manila envelope for Ale. Inside is a wedding invitation. We are given no further information.

We have our little meeting. Ale is disappointed in the sales. Everyone has an excuse. Marino certain he has the most sales is quite outraged when Dandy corrects him and reminds him about the deal they made regarding the sales to Sandra. Rafa and Marino almost come to blows a few times. Marino starts on about all the improper mingling that is going on. He refers to Dandy and Susana and Rafa and Ale. Rafa ends up grabbing Marino and kicking him out of the meeting.

Marino huffs up rudely and tells Susan he needs to talk to Beltran. Susana puts him in his place and tells him not to talk to her like that. She tells him Beltran hasn’t arrived yet. We have a scene with Dona Arcadia and her secretary who is telling her Marino wants to talk to her. She doesn’t want to see him. She tells him to tell Marino she can see him in the year 2020. She would rather talk to her dogs than him.

Our final scene is back in the meeting room where Rosaura is asking Ale about her wedding. Isn’t she getting married at the end of the month? Rafa has the same root canal expression on his face as he looks over at Ale.

Great title, movie buff. And I loved "Ale looks like she's having root canal". Haven't watched this yet but will look forward to seeing Chavez in flowing robes, dodging bombs, and in full alcohol withdrawal mode. Bring back Rubi!

Pata, though I haven't seen it yet, it looks like your "short one" is a complete one. Very clever title.

Since it appears not a lot happened last night, it will be good we check in on Chavez. I'm beginning to doubt if will see Rubi again. Hope I'm wrong.

If Susana puts Marino in his place, that's excellent. Though I know it will be just for a moment.

Thanks for the racap.
My favorite part was the part where Rosaura was eavesdroppiing on Claudia. Did anyone else think that Rafa is a step closer to uncovering the real Marco.
If Cluadia does find out about Rafa's resume then he and Ale might both get fired from Siglo. I hope Marino doesn't get a chance to speak with Beltran.
Maybe Chavez is finally catching up that Marco only wants to get rid of him? I hope so.

Signing off... Private 057

Pata, great job. I don't think it lacks in any way. Very funny.

At first I was annoyed at the chaos and bickering at the meeting, but then I relaxed and savored the mayhem. I kept hoping someone would suggest singing the Auto Siglo's anthem.

Leonor was wonderful in her subdued disgust over Vicki's behavior. Vicki was wonderful in her outrageous behavior.

Carlos

Good morning all! My work schedule has been so crazy lately that I'm falling behind on the show (and on reading the recaps). But thanks for all of the recaps - I'm sure they're fantastic! I have tomorrow off work, maybe I can get caught up then :)

Short, but complete Pata, good job.

Chavez was super funny in this episode.

I thought that maybe Claudia was going to turn out to be one of the reformed Siglo employees, but I guess I was wrong by the looks of the previews.

It will be nice for something/anything to happen to move this show along a little!!!

Good morning all. The only thing worse than having to get up early in the morning to go to work is having to get up early in the morning on your day off to go to the dentist. Thank goodness for nitrous and walkmans.

Thanks for all the comments. And Melinama I didn't get a chance to say thankyou for yesterdays recap. So thanks. Tracy I totaly understand those crazy work schedules. I am falling behind on tons of things I wanted to get done this summer. At least I can cross the dentist off my list.

Carlos, I was annoyed with that Siglo meeting too, but unlike you, did not settle in to enjoy the mayhem. I know I missed alot of what was going on. But I think there was a point to it (maybe). If not just to get Marino all riled up and more committed than ever to go after Rafa.

Hi Judy and Babrbra. You will definately enjoy Chevez in Bagdad. I hope he finds Ruby. And Private 057 I too think that the whole falisified resume is going to come into play here.

Kat, I agree we have been moving quite slowly. That Claudia is a little trouble maker isn't she.

I know that there's not much actual action going on but it seems to me that there is a lot of plot advancement. There are anvils floating everywhere and I find that there's a lot of tension.

Marco now thinks that he can not only get fired but put in prison if he lied on the job application. Of course that's unethical but is it criminal???

How is Chavez going to find Rubi if, as he says, all the women are covered completely except for their eyes? And how is he going to make it without his breakfast of whiskey?

Güera

Great recap, Pata, it was very complete, and fun to read.

With all of Rafa's problems, now they bring back the resume thing, which could get Ale and him in trouble. And as for Ale's wedding, well OF COURSE she's going to suspect that Rafa spread the gossip, just as she suspected after their wild weekend.

I know Claudia is just looking out for herself, but I'm not too pleased with who she's teaming up with these days.

Why does Marino even want a daughter? Just to say he has one? He doesn't seem to spend much time with his sons. It's almost like a macho thing, look how virile I am, with all these kids.

It's a good thing that Dona Arcadia is around, because Beltran might fire Rafa, Ale, Susana and Dandy when all these things come out.

But Rafa's getting back his Pantera is at least one step in the right direction.

Is there a story behind the Pantera? I watched just a few of the earliest episodes and then resumed watching again a few weeks ago. I fist heard of the Pantera when Jaime spotted it on the street and talked to the guy about it. Thanks.

Carlos

Hi Carlos, the Pantera is Rafa's old car and great love. It was the one he was driving when he had the accident with Ale. He was so far in debt and needed money after the accident to pay off Ale and all his other bills, so he sold the car.

Thanks Pata. So that is actually his original car and not one just like it?

Carlos

Just watched Leonor walk in on Vicky trying to strip Rafa. How awkward! How funny! Rafa's and Leonor's expressions were great. And I think Leonor handled it with perfect Mom aplomb. VVV wasn't embarrassed in the least.

Pata, the scene with Chavez was ingenious. The cartoon action was pretty wacky. Meanwhile, Marco is having his usual liquid breakfast before Ale is even awake!

It looks like we've come full circle--Claudia causing turmoil at work via Marco. And FYI for those that weren't with us in the beginning: Ale falsified Rafa's resume. Rafa knows nothing about it. So if it becomes a problem for Rafa, it will be all Ale's fault.

Carlos, Yes the car is Rafa's original Pantera. Hence all the love.

And we all know how Ale is going to react when she sees the car, she hates it!

What will Rafa do to stop the wedding, Ale keeps saying it is up to Rafa, he has to do something. I hate that there will be no show tonight!

Thank you Pata, didn't seem short to me either! ANd Thank you Melinama for yesterdays'recap. Loved the photos of Superman, what a cutie.

Maybe Rafa's car will finally jog Ale's memory enough that she will remember the accident was her fault too.

Chavez in Iraq, LOL!! The costume was great. He has to find Rubi, otherwise what was the point of him being there?

I thought it was good that Rafa was standing up for Ale in the meeting, but as has been mentioned, she will probably think he spread the rumor about her wedding. Except, did what he read say it was the end of the month, because he seemed surprised by that too?

Ivy, When Rosaura asked Ale if she was going to be on her honeymoon at the end of the month, I thought Ale looked over at Rafa as if she thought he might have said something. You're right, we may be going back again to where does all this gossip start?

BTW Pata, I hope you are doing OK. If you got nitrous at the dentist, I assume you didn't have anything easy done today. Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Barbara. I am fine thanks for your concern. I broke a tooth a while back and am such a baby I finally had it crowned. It was so sensitive to everything especially ice cream and I couldn't go the rest of the summer without ice cream. So with the promise of nitrous I finally had it done.

Guera, I agree there are anvils everywhere. Not to many new ones though. We need Ruby back, we need less of Dona Arcadia, more of the salon trio, no more of the idiot police and more glimmers of hope for Ale and Rafa. And lots more of Chavez!! He is a hoot!

No episode tonight? What's that all about?

Pata- This was a great and complete recap. You didn't miss anything. The Pantera is back, so at least one good thing happened to someone.I was hoping that instead of using it for idle gossip, Rosaura would question who Claudia was talking to, realize that it was obviously Ale's supposed novio, and figure out that Claudia had a thing going with him and was the one who started the vicious rumors about Ale and Rafa. But no! The prospect of juicy wedding gossip blinded her to all these other issues. Oh well.

I was hoping that fake resume thing wouldn't come back, but the writers want to line up another anvil over Rafa's head. And like many of the others, this wasn't even his fault! Santa Claus!

No shows tonight because of the Premios Juventud (Youth Awards). Looks like Pedro (Rafa) might be performing or nominated. I've seen flashes of him in the ads for the awards.

Thanks Pata. I think I will just read all of the wonderful recaps until this show picks up some. I am liking the recaps much better than the show right now. I keep falling asleep while it is on. How many episodes is this show anyway. I might have to abandon it if it doesn't pick up soon.

Lynda, I think there are about 230 total episodes. Since we are on 154, that leaves 76, or less than 4 months. I do expect things to pick up soon. Especially if Rubi comes back.

Thanks Hombre. I'm late here today so don't know if you will see this. It needs to pick up soon. I don't think I can take 4 more months of this.
