La Verdad Oculta EP47 11/18/2010 - The night of the raging bulls

* David tells Mario that Gaby investigated after a tomb her father visited a few months ago. Look what Bertha did to Gaby, she doesn't trust her father anymore! (Fausto anxiously knocks on the table.) At first the two hotheads want to kick Bertha out of the house, but thanks to Abelardo's soothing words they agree that David will put her in her place and tell her to leave Gaby alone. Anyway. David asks his father to visit their employees who suffer under the reign of the Ávilas because they need his presence and advices.

* Gaby confesses to Julieta what Bertha told her about their father and she found the tomb of that Marta. Okay, but who's Marta? Gaby asked their father about her but he denied knowing that woman. However, he became very nervous after their conversation. Oh, and guess who payed the funeral expenses? Yolanda!

* In the Ávila condo Adolfo looks at a black and white picture of a young man and triumphantly says his name: Marcos Rivera Muñoz. He"s the one who sold the first diamonds, and he must be connected to the waitresses somehow. Yolanda objects, come on, they threw the shoes to a dustbin! But Dolphie is unconvincible. By the way, recently Gabriela's sister quit her job, too. He asks Marcos about Julieta but he doesn't know anything about her. Maybe she's also found a rich guy to marry. Dolphie doesn't have time for his son's stupidity and he leaves. Marcos starts to complain about her dad to Yolanda: he's the one who has many problems with the hotels, not Adolfo! By the way, Adolfo. He tries to court to Mario Genovés's niece, who is half his age. Isn't that ridiculous? Yolanda looks worried.

* While Asunción is watching TV, Juan José, the most confused galán of the primetime telenovelas arrives at home and although he had a pleasant date with Alejandra, he's very grumpy. Elsa, who feels very uncomfortable because of their last conversation, calls JJ on phone but he refuses to talk with her. I guess Asunción starts to feel like he was a kindergarten teacher.

* Marcos and Susana discuss what to do next. They'll part for a while because Marcos doesn't want to compromise his onetruelove. Susana doesn't mind it but she insists on guarding the diamonds by herself. He asks her to visit his sister and tell her he wants to talk with Juan José.

* Adolfo visits Mario to annoy him and to talk about the Guillén family but instead of a timid, sick old man he finds a fiery Fausto who puts him in his place. (And poor Abelardo has to listen to their conversation.) Dolphie asks him about the Guilléns: who will support them now that Gabriela doesn't work anymore and Julieta quit her job, too? Fausto explodes: he'll not support anyone, end of story!

* At home Adolfo tells Yolanda that the Guilléns have no income which means they have the diamonds! He orders her to call Gabriela and the two women agree to meet in a restaurant. Great, says Adolfo. The sisters must be very worried because they know the police looks for Marcos. Gain her trust and when she confesses you everything offer her our protection. Yolanda doesn't like the idea. Adolfo tells her she'll have another thing to do: a bunch of valuable archeological goods will be transported to the seaside house and she'll have to take care of them.

* In the headquarters Fausto, who's already a nervous wreck, gives poor Abelardo hard time again: this is madness, people will find out who is he, David, Adolfo, my kids... Abelardo advises him to behave much calmer.

* In a restaurant Gaby and Yolanda talk about her past, what did she do in the eighties? And who was Marta? Boom! Yolanda quickly invents a story about an old friend of hers who died of an illness and didn't have family so she paid for her funeral. Okay, but why did my father visit her tomb? Boom-boom-boom. Yolanda says Bertha must be wrong, her father couldn't know Marta, it's impossible, it's ridiculous... Gaby politely says she's not stupid. Yolanda and Fausto surely don't tell her the truth.

* In the AFI office our favourite cop speculates about the cuff-link, Roberto and his unique ring. That man knows the Ávilas, he mistreated the Guillén girls... What if he was the one who broke in their flat? He is going to talk with Fausto. *Viewerville: You're awesome, man.*

* In Sagitario David practically breaks into the office of Carlos and starts to yell his head off: Gabriela is his wife, leave her alone, understood? Carlos yells back, he insults Gaby and he gets a huge punch in his face. The boys continue their fight outside and turn the restaurant into a wrestling arena. When they finally get separated Adolfo kicks David out of Sagitario and the boy swears he's going to break their association!

* The ladies are ready to have dinner when David shows up in the hall. He's wounded, he's nervous and he has blood on his shirt. He wants to talk with Mario right now but Daddy doesn't answer to his knock on the door. He kicks the door, but there's nobody in the bedroom. Strange. Where the hell is Mario?

* In the Ávila flat while Yolanda is taking care the purple face of Carlitos, father and son are arguing about David. Carlos can't stand Blondie, but Adolfo doesn't care about that. If David manage to break the association it'll be Moustache's fault! Carlos storms out. Dolphie asks Yolanda about her conversation with Gabriela and she insists that they don't have the gems. Then what were you two talking about? Errrrr... about David, lies Yolanda. Love matters. Nothing special.

* David flusteredly looks for the contract in Mario's study. It does exist but he has never seen it! And where is his father?! He calls Abelardo and tells him Daddy has disappeared. Abelardo hurriedly calls Fausto and tells him to go to the Genovés villa ASAP!

* In the hall David and Gaby talk about Mario. He's worried about his dad very much, he changed since his voyage to Veracruz. What if he is sick? A very angry Fausto shows up and when David says it's 5 in the morning and asks where he was he answers in his best Faustiago manner that it's not his job. Okay, but the have to talk about the Ávilas. Tomorrow they're going to break the association! No way, says Fausto. Then David will quit the company. Oh, shut up, he doesn't have time for that. David explodes: fine! Then tomorrow he and his wife are going to leave this house forever!

Good morning. :-) Thanks to Aribeth in advance!

Part 5

I posted this question/comment in the previous episode, but it was late in the day. Has anyone commented on this?

I am wondering if JJ can actually read. He's not good at math - no skills there; Elsa figured out the value of the gold, and in the restaurant with Ale, he quickly gave the menu to her with barely a peek, and I thought I had seen this before. Many thanks.

Hi, Floridia; I just answered your question over there, but someone did address the question when it was asked last week or so: he was reading The Count of Monte Cristo in prison. It's a big part of the story, if you haven't seen that plot line.

Thanks, Jeri,

I knew about that book, but I guess
I was thinking that maybe he had seen the movie and was struggling through the book. Of course, there are the Junior Classics simplified versions.

In any case, 11 years in prison
left him deficient in several areas and he is still adjusting.

Love the fast pace of this novela
especially in contrast to Soy Tu Dueña....enjoy the sharp contrast in the roles played by Julio Aleman in both.

Oh David, David. Why can't he just leave Carlos be? By causing such a scene, he only gives Carlos more power over him and his marriage and shows to EVERYONE (including strangers in the club) that he does not trust his wife.

I am looking forward to your take on the crazy events of last night Aribeth. I know you won't have a chance to get it up until later.

Floridia- It's not only fun to see the contrast between Don Ernesto/Adolfo, but also Dr. Flippy/Roberto in STUD and Verdad. Very different roles for both actors.

JJ can definitely read, but I think it probably took him a while to get through the book and he's not as quick with math (probably did not get a great education in that). I think he awkwardness at the restaurant was more about being uncomfortable being in a fancy setting, and probably being unfamiliar with the foods and drinks on the menu. I'm sure tacos, tortas, enchilladas, etc. weren't on the menu. Those he would have had no probelm with. :)

Floridia, as I posted before, Juan José looks extremely comfortable reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" in this screen cap, LOL.

I always marvel at his slender ankles.

Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to see our episode yet today...

Looking forward to your recap, Aribeth.

Looks like Mario v 2.0 might give Abelardo a stroke or heart attack. Abelardo, with no help from Fautiago, is holding everything together for his dear departed friend/employer Mario at this point.

As stated before, if Carlos had a caring father there would be less aggression boiling out of him all the time. Since the families have been business partners for some time, perhaps Carlos and David have been competing all along. Both are doing well at their jobs, but poor Carlos receives no appreciation or recognition for his hard work. Maybe that makes him redeemable in the end and unlike, his dad and Roberto, he is not a killer.

And as stated before, if Carlos and Bertha would stop scheming, David would not be making such an *** of himself over Gabi, mistrusting her and defending her and himself at the same time.

Marcos not only has Super Sleuth Leo to worry about but he gave the diamonds to Susana, who by her facial expressions has had her fill of Marcos. Well, he never was too bright.

And J J, please see a therapist to straighten out your feelings so I will know what you are planning with Elsa and Ale. You cannot date Elsa just to have her around if you are not serious about her. You cannot juggle both at the same time if that is what are planning.

If Roberto is planning to hide from Adolfo a less noticeable car might be appropriate, like one of those Fords from the other show. And again forget about red.

Thank you for the links Jeri!

Aribeth, I look forward to reading your recap!

Santiago hasn't been able to sleep peacefully at his real home at all since the deception began, has he? Due to all the bickering and problems at Mario's, he isn't going to be able to be running back and forth forever! The disguise requires major make up and time - something's going to have to give here.

Carlos needed a reality check. While I wish it hadn't happened in so public a venue, David needed to take him to task. I don't think it necessariy showed he doesn't trust Gabi, only that he doesn't trust Carlos (and with very good reason :) Carlos' obsession and obvious intent to hurt both Gabi and David has to stop.

Diana

Diana, I was thinking about the ring when David found out about it from Bertha, I think he almost believed Bertha that Gabi had received it back when and for her visit to the beach house with Carlos. I agree, that he finally trusts her more and thank goodness Gabi told David about the cemetery thing because it came up with Bertha and Dora had conflicting stories.

Oops, bad verb usag. Sorry need to proofread.

I just wanted to say thanks to Jeri, Aribeth and Vivi for their recaps since Friday. I have been reading but not commenting this week because I've been so depressed. My stallion Cimarron colicked on Saturday. Though we tried, staying up with him most of the night, we couldn't save him and he died early Sunday afternoon.

Just last Thursday Cimi managed to escape from his paddock and was very delightedly visiting with the young mares over their fence. No apple was tempting enough to allow me to catch him. He looked at me like "Girls or apples... Girls or apples.... GIRLS!" Then he'd run away merrily knowing I couldn't catch him. I finally had to tempt him back to his own paddock with a girl!

Now he's gone. It's so hard to believe. I had Cimarron for 10 years and he was a beautiful horse. I really miss him.

Everyone please give your pets a love today while you can. They are with us for such a short time.

xlnt, I am so sorry to hear that! You are right: love our beloved little friends while we can. And you have been missed.

Thanks for opening the discussion post, Jeri! :)

It's 9:30 pm here, I've just arrived home and I need to sleep because my brain doesn't work now. :) The recap is almost done, so don't worry, it'll be up as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience and hundred thanks to Jeri for waiting for my summaries and for uploading them.

***

Please raise your hands if you guessed that Abelardo didn't live in Mario's house. This makes his and Fausto's job much more complicated.

***

Xlnt: Oh, my God, I'm so sorry.

Thanks Aribeth. Will wait with anticipation for your recap.

Thanks Jeri for the links.

Well I for one thought that Abelardo lived at Marios. That does present a problem. No wonder Santiago/Fausto is always cranky,he is getting tired going backwards and forwards from his place to Marios place, and then also having to put on disguise and taking it off.

Aribeth loved your title "The night of the raging bulls". David should get some anger management, lol. My goodness he should lighten up a bit he is scaring everyone around him. Poor Carlos got beat up bad. I cannot understand why there is so much hate between these two young men. This is taking rivalry a bit far.

JJ was a cranky pants in this episode, he refused to talk to Elsa on the phone, and of course poor Limon had to try and smooth it over with Elsa.

Margaret

Aribeth, thank you in advance for your post. I agree with GinCa,my JJ needs professional help sorting out his feelings. He is comfortable with Elsa[like a sister] but his hormones are screaming for Ale. His confusion is making me dizzy.Choose already.
Abelardo has bitten off more than he can chew. Mario v 2.0 is not going to be a lame duck. The original version was soft and gentle which is why Adolfo and Bertha got away with so much. He is tired and angry from all that he has endured. He is going to give Adolfo a run for his money.Poor Bertha just stepped on poop by revealing Martha 's resting place to Gabi.I can understand Mario v 2.0 loosing it and telling her there is new sheriff in town. Finally David is beginning to show some sense.Beating Carlos was not it,even though he deserved it. Trying to break the contract with Adolfo was.
Xln, sorry to hear about you horse.

Hanna

Hi All - I'm still hanging around, lurking, sorry, but it's been hard to comment lately. Thank you all for your recaps, they are wonderful to have and I totally appreciate them!

I don't get what is going on with JJ but Hanna that is a good description. He's majorly confused. It looks like money is causing problems for all three of them - JJ's personality is suddenly different, Limon sits around all day watching TV, drinking beer and eating Peanuts (I think it's peanuts), and caramelo has been introduced to modern kid's wants.

For sure, I can see how Santiago is getting tired of this, but he's been jumpy and grouchy from the beginning, too. He needs to keep in mind that Gabriela will lose her inheritance, too. Abelardo needs to come up with an excuse, David was creating one, possible alzheimers.

Even though he's giving himself away it is great to see Bertha and Adolfo getting jumped on! I think Gabe is really begining to put two and two together, she knew Yolanda wasn't telling her the truth. I enjoy Leo, too, after his unpleasant personality as Marino in Dinero, this detective character is great!

Xlnt: I am so sorry, I know how extremely painful it is to lose an animal friend.

Ivy

xlntperuvian- I am so sorry for your loss of your beloved Cimarron. It sounds like he was a horse with a great and playful personality. Thank you for taking the time to drop in and send us a message.

David has wanted to end the partnership with Adolfo for a long time, but each time was talkied out of it by Mario. He sees how unfair of a deal it is, and although he has no proof, he does not trust that all of Adolfo's business is legitimate. Add to that how nasty Adolfo has always been to Mario, and that just puts David over the top in his frustration.

It doesn't seem that the boys had a bad relationship before (although not close). Remember when they first saw Gabi at the restaurant she quit, when they went to explore buying the restaurant- Carlos and David were together. I am sure Adolfo has always bad-mouthed the Genoveses behind their backs, and that affected Carlos' thinking about David. But it was really the Gabi thing, and David pushing to end the partnership and arguing with Adolfo, that created the real bad blood between David and Carlos.

I think I realized Abelardo didn't live in the house when Mario died. Remember, he didn't find out till the next day when he came to the house. I was surprised at the time, but it now makes total sense now that they've shown him in his own house. I guess that shows that he really was Mario's secretary/executive assistant, and not the butler/man servant.

Hanna, why would a brother act so...well, almost jealous of his sister with a nice guy showing attention to his sister??? It would almost seem incestuous, if that is the right word, don't you think???

I agree with GinCA's thinking.

I think he is attracted to Ale but I feel he is impressed with her classiness more than anything else.

Thanks Aribeth, Jeri and Vivi for all that you have done. I just love this novela.

Ann-NYC

I feel like we need a guy to illuminate JJ's attitude for us. It seems to me like some pretty typical (strange) guy behaviour. Wanting a woman to be in love with him and devoted to him, even though he wants someone else. Sending out major mixed signals. I've seen it in real life. And in real life I've also sat with my girlfriends (like you guys) and scratched my head trying to figure the guy out. You know what? We can't figure it out. Because we're not guys. :)

Tuned in for the first time last night.

Music is great. There seem to be some interesting mysteries.

But David?!?!? Is he always such a loose cannon?

Vivi, you made a good point!!! We don't understand them and they don't understand us!!! Ha! Ha!

Ann-NYC

xint, just wanted to send a virtual hug your way! I grew up on a farm with horses and ponies.....death by colic is very hard. I’m glad you had Cimi for the time that you did and hopefully soon, the good memories will drown out those of the last day!

Un abrazo muy fuerte......

Welcome Anon 5:59! I hope you stick with us. This is a nice mystery filled novela. As for David, he is a nice, sweet guy, and even tempered most times except when his dad is being threatened and mistreated, or when his jealousy over Gabi is goaded. Most of the characters close to him have made note of his impulsiveness and his jealousy. Bring those two things together- and the result is explosive.

Hmmmm JJ is creating problems for all of us. Defending him is getting hard. Vivi you are right, we need a man's point of view. Ann-NY, my JJ needs help.Maybe what he really needs is a good old fashion loving to clear up his sinuses.11 years of incarceration can do that to a guy.No wonder he is confusing his sister with his girl. Poor guy

Hanna

Jeri and Vivi,
Thanks for your answers re the book learnin....

Also for pointing out those slender ankles; I like that in a man. Have you noticed them elsewhere?

I'm going to be out and about all day, so I won't have a chance to watch Friday's show till tonight or tomorrow morning. My post for Friday won't be up till Sunday. Which will be us plenty more time to read Aribeth's Thursday recap if she is able to get it up.

Aribeth- If life is getting in the way, don't kill yourself trying to get a recap up. We all can answer any questions anyone has about the events of the episode. Plus, I think your title says it all.

Ok, summary is posted! Thank you, Aribeth, for the lovely summary and pictures. I love that one of Abelardo, LOL.

Thanks Aribeth for the great recap. Really appreciated.

Why do I get the feeling that Susan is going to disappear with the diamonds.

Poor Abelardo is going to have a breakdown, lol. The screen cap says it all.

Interesting that Yolanda paid for Marta's funeral. I wonder if that was because Santiago/Fausto had to leave town in a hurry with no time to bury his wife.

Margaret

xlntperuvian, sorry to hear about your horse. At least you have the memories of your horse to always remember.

Margaret

Vivi, loved your comment about needing a male to comment on JJ's behaviour. So true, as Jeri I think also commented, they can't work us out and we can't work them out, lol.

Margaret

OMG, I just caught up on the episodes; and without spoilers, let me just say that Friday's is a kick-butt episode! With a fantastic, unexpected cliffhanger!

Aribeth. I really enjoyed your very helpful recap and your humorous asides. Yes, currently, "awesome" Leo and maybe even Abelardo are our heroes. And Limon comes in third.

I guess Adolfo received the wanted poster for Marcos from the jeweler who sold Yolanda the diamond. The jeweler must be a fence who will deal in stolen gems.

Xlnt, I hope your memories of your beloved Cimarron will carry you through. A loss of friend is so painful. Wishing you comfort.

GinCA

Hello lntperuvian,

My heart goes out to you on the loss of your dear animal friend.
My family and I had dogs for many years; each time one passed away, there was another heartache.
But,oh, the joys of having these kindred souls in our lives.
