Triunfo del Amor #15 1/21/11 Confessions of a Mad Ex-House Maid
Labels: triunfo
La Paloma
Is it really that easy for a civilian to own firearms in Mexico? Novelas make it look like every male over 18 has one if he feels the situation warrants it.
Good for Osvaldo that he's seeing his bratty daughter for who she really is. This is at least 5 years overdue. Fabian is still blind as a bat.
Padilla will be a lot of trouble, no te preocupes.
I wonder whether Victoria ever saw Bernarda's face during the "accident". Where was Antonieta when it happened? There needs to be something that proves that Bernarda is the guilty party.
UA: It's not easy to buy and own a gun in México. You need a permit and getting it is supposedly a big hassle, especially nowadays. Most people in urban concentrations don't have one, that's more a thing of smaller rural areas. But there are ways to get illegal guns, which is how criminals get them.

They broke the mold when they created Scuzzy -- or we can hope anyway. Can't quite see him with elegant Fer, but who is looking for rationality.
The Osvaldo-Fer dynamic remains a might strange. He's clearly the more tuned-in and realistic parent. On the other hand, sitting in her bed with her is one more provocative scene between the two that seems odd. Getting a gun and threatening Scuzzy seems over the top as well. Still, I like the Osvaldo character and the actor has grown on me.
As I recall from EPDA, things really pick up after Juan Pablo finds out that he is a parent.
Osvaldo (both actor and character) have really grown on me, too. Especially when he jumped all over Bratzilla. I actually cheered.
I was a little disturbed that the first "hot" scene was between two supposed teens. Isn't there some TN rule against gratuitous sex? (At least Ivanna's sex was part of a master plan lol.)
I loved the ending last night. Padre was muy impactado indeed. What will this mean for the St Bernard?
I'm still waiting for Vick to grow on me. I just don't see any redeeming qualities in her yet. I'm rooting for Tomasa and Antonieta.
A bit off topic, but the costuming is driving me crazy. I know it's not a big thing but it is annoying the stew out of me. I'm not saying STuD was great, but it was better.
The costumes in TdA look cheap and thrown together. At least for the women. The men look pretty sharp (excluding TattRat, PopPadilla and JuanHUH?
1. Uncle Fester's coat for Vicky at the party
2. Why does MD keep wearing heels with SOCKS? (I fully understand the heels as Maite is short...but socks?)
3. What is up with MDs dresses? I *think* they are going for "innocent", but they just look stupid.
4.Nati needs shampoo, a brush and contact lenses. I don't get why they put her in mismatched clothing, either. Plain ol' jeans and a t-shirt would send the same message.
5. Fer's itty bitty top hat.
6. Fer's gloves and fishnets.
Sara: don't forget the braids too!! really irksome. yes, the socks are utterly ridiculous. if anyone's seen the young women in Herederos, they're dressed young without looking silly.
Oz: yes, Yes, and YES! He was being a man and not controlled by two whiny, manipulative women when he stood up to Pop Padilla and Fony Fer. How he dealt with Fony Fer was the best...absolute best!!! Fer is in for one huge surprise. I only hope that Victoria does not negate things by letting Fony Fer get away with all that she has done.
Scuzzy Tatoo Boy: interesting how he suspected and then bubbled in his head that he KNEW Pops stole the watch. I wonder what he will do with that bit of infos?
Sara: I absolutely agree with you about the costuming. The one thing that I could never figure out in STuD was how everyone could be in shirt sleeves and Jose Miguel would be in some stifling hot chastity coat. Do you remember one time when someone ripped it off him and you could see that FC had really been sweating under the coat?
Well...why is Mad Max ALWAYS in that scarf when everyone else is in short sleeves.
...and Victoria and that Uncle Fester coat?! That is the UGLIEST coat I have ever seen on a TN.
Maria Desinformada and her UGLY braids and the heels with socks...oy...that just has to go. As a number of you have already said, I simply do not feel the chemistry between Max and Desinformada...i just don't feel it. Max is a bit more believable, but even when she was staring at his foto, Desinformada didn't convince.
I am glad, though, that Victoria told JP the truth. Now, we shall see what comes of it. I think what will be much more difficult for Victoria will be to tell Oz that Padilla raped her. I think that at this stage in her life, she might be afraid of how Oz would react.
Oz and LindaHO will be on Sal y Pimienta on Sunday night.
Just who is this Dorismar (is that her name?) that plays LindaHO? Has she been in other TN?
Gracias, Jar!!!

He borrowed it from Bruno.

Susanita-The scarves have caught my attention, too. My list was getting kind of long, so I decided to just stick with the ladies today.
BUT, I don't want anyone to think my complaints about costuming means I'm unhappy with this TN. My beanie is firmly in place and I'm buckled in for the ride.
Sara: I know, I know! It's not that I don't like the scarf look...quite the contrary, but it doesn't fit with time of year and what everyone else is wearing! LOL!
Ibarrmedia: Gracias! Why am I not surprised that she would be in the sexy photoshoots?! It will be interesting to see if they talk to her on Sal y Pimienta.
Susanita
Man, I'm happy today. I got home to a surprise bday present. It was the most thoughtful gift ever...Cuidado Con el Ángel on dvd!!! I love my friends! :)
This is not the only novela in which Maite is dressed oddly. Most of what she wore in Mi Pecado was equally odd.
UA-I wonder if Maite's odd costuming is because they don't know what do with her. From what I can tell, she is a healthy size and well endowed boob-wise. In the two roles I've seen her in (CCEA and this) she is supposed to be the young innocent so maybe they are trying to call less attention to the boobies...but surely there are more stylish ways to do that?
I agree on Maite's wardrobe. Near the end of CCEA, they actually had her wearing a few cute outfits. Ironically, it was when she was blind.

Well, gang:
Internet problems yesterday or this would have been up a while earlier.
Got to say it was most satisfying to see Oz and Vicki put the screws to Ferocious Fernanda finally!!!! Tho' IMHO seeing Oz in bed with a daughter that looks and dresses like a high-priced Vegas hooker did creep me out, too.
Salvador Pineda does play a great ogre these days, considering he used to be a handsome leading man a few decades ago. ITA that he will be a terrifically scheming villano in this and may give Guillermo Cantú a run for his money for best villano in the Premios.
Whoever dresses Ste. Bernarda has got her looking at times like some Vampire out of a Stephen King movie --Salem's Lot to be more precise. But Uncle Fester is a great comparison also!!
As far as socks and heels, I noticed that also and wondered if it's a new fashion statement I was too old to pick up on. It's absolutely odd and makes the actresses look stocky and bow-legged, though I know it was popular in the cities back in the '80's for a bit and back during WWII when hose were hard to come by.
I'm wondering if we are supposed to like Victoria or not and if now that the truth is out between her and Juan Pablo that her character begins to wise up. I am also waiting to see her show some redeeming qualities.
I have mixed feelings about this show. Overall, I find it entertaining. I watched ePdA but don't remember all that much about it though it's coming back to me as I watch this show unfold.
I'm not a fan of William Levy and his character Max has left me cold so far. The grand gesture of purchasing the medical device anonymously was very endearing but his heavy-handed aggressive approach to courting (does anyone still use that term?) seems at best a very pushy attempt at seduction and at times approaches stalking. In this episode he seemed to think that Maria's forgiveness was automatic permission to paw at her. He seems to think that his wealth and prettiness equal entitlement. That said, JJ seems rather presumptuous himself though Linda is... to be fair... a bit provocative.
So far I can only shake my head over Maria. She grew up sheltered in the orphanage, I doubt that she had much contact with boys, much less dated, and now she sees a pretty boy who is interested, and suddenly this is her one true love? ¡Por favor! Maybe he is, but this is certainly not the right time in her life for that decision. Hormones run amok.
I agree with you about Ozzy and the pistol. Kinda hard to take him seriously though I assume there were bullets in that gun.
Still early, so I'm trying to keep an open mind about all the characters.
Carlos
The only thing I remember about the VERY little bit I saw of CCEA was Maite stomping around in flip flops and I kept thinking she was bowlegged and walked like a man.
In Mi Pecado they dressed her accentuanting her attributes. It was a recurring gag that her mom would spend the whole novela buttoning up her blouse. I didn't think she looked so odd there, at the beginning they wet for an odd hippy look but then they stopped that and I thought she looked normal. The little vests she wore were not well liked among the viewers here but last year they were popular with the young girls in México. Lucero wore them too in STuD.
Now this novela, I don't know. Heels with socks aren't popular anywhere I've been.
Jarocha
Decisions about wardrobe are always completely opaque to me, but I think Maite manages to look sweet no matter what they throw on her back. And I love the scarf on Levy.
I'm with you, Jardinera, about Milagros's encouragement of the LindoHo/JuanJo merger. Incomprehensible. Really, this idiotez after the Nathy/patán de Veracruz fiasco -- she should have her brujería license restricted: no more matchmaking. Ever.
Sara: the flip flops on CCEA irked me too.
Susanita/Sara: I am ROFL about the scarf. but he sure looks good in 'em.
Cielo: CCEA was the first time I laid eyes on WL, and I've been a goner since.
I guess the reason why Perroni grates on me is because of the way they've been dressing her. yes, i know, i know... i am shallow. plus, to me, she seems to have only 2 or 3 expressions on her face. lo siento.
NovelaMaven: ITA about Milagros and her brujería de celestina. She stinks.
It was something of a Hollywood trend when this series started production:
http://news.instyle.com/2010/04/05/trend-alert-socks-heels/
Personally, I think it's meant to look childish, like pigeon toes and certain mannerisms.
The vest with the shirt that isn't tucked in (in STuD and Pecado) looked beyond unsophisticated; it looked careless and untidy.
Finally, let me say that the whole thing in Pecado with Rosario messing with Lucrezia's clothes made me angry and really gave me the creeps.
I can't wait until tomorrow night. I'd like to think that Padre will rush home and confront MamaBernarda and she'll be screwed...but something tells me that is not going to happen.
The comments have been great as well.
I am looking forward to next week's episodes. I just checked the TV schedule and I think it is preempted Tuesday for the State of the Union speech. Hopefull Max will remember to take off his scarf while indoors, Maria will get a wardrobe upgrade and Linda will just get some clothes on.
Rosemary
I am in complete agreement with you on "...Milagros is anxious to know how it went between Juanjo after she left him and the suggestively negligéed Linda alone at dinner. (Still having problems with Millie allowing that at her dinnertable.)". I mean, really! Who would ever come to their own dinner table (let alone anyone else's) in that state of undress? Spare me this storyline - please.
I really like Oz, especially as he "keeps knocking Scuzzy around like Juanjo's soccer ball". Excellent! I was really hoping he'd pump Scuzzy Tattoo-Boy and his odious father full of lead. ;)
Thanks again Jardinera.
Diana
Decent acting: Victoria, Osvaldo, the guy playing Juan Pablo, Daniela Romo, Salvador Pineda.
Everyone else: varying shades of pathetic, with Top Dishonors going to Dorismar. Ye Gods, everytime she opens her mouth I cringe.
Cantú may be very good after we see more of him.
And, this makes three novelas I've seen Levy in. Carla Estrada got a decent performance out of him in Sortilegio. But in the others he's completely one dimensional. And I HATE the scarves.
The MD character is completely boring. Her rejection of the man she's in love with might make sense if he'd been unfaithful. But really? She gives him the boot because he hid the fact that he was the son of the owner of the business, perhaps so she wouldn't feel intimidated because of the vast differences in social class. It's dumb writing and not helped by poor acting skills.
Sorry, guys. I'll stop posting from now on. I couldn't resist expressing myself, but I don't want to rain on anyone else's parade.

Thanks again to all of y'all for all the great comments and points of interest that always make this site so much fun to recap for.
Diana: "I mean, really! Who would ever come to their own dinner table (let alone anyone else's) in that state of undress?" Halelujah and pass the peas! LOL!
============
Carlos: ITA with Max's character or rather, his initial lack of such--and you've just gained 100 bonus pts. on my all-male scale. LOL! BTW I fall into the group who occasionally still uses the good ol' fashioned "courting". It defines the wholesome side of dating somehow in my sometimes narrower and prudish world view (add eye roll and wink here) and Max was anything but that when he first made designs on Maria D.
==========
Novelera, I can't remember but did you watch FELS with us? Cantú was terrific as a villano there. I was hoping for more of the same here.
===========
Purity: Welcome!
==========
Rosemary: Thanks for the heads up.
In this one, so far, all Cantú has done is smirk in an oily manner on the sidelines. Actually, come to think of it, he reminds me of Iago in Othello.
Why is Victoria so cold to her husband? She is all hot when she needs sex but other than that, her work is the only thing that interest her. JP is really growing on me.He seems like a calm lake between two valleys. One of these days mummy dearest is going experience some strange gale winds. Did she give birth to him to save her dark soul from hell? Makes me appreciate my mum more.
