La Verdad Oculta EP111 02/22/2011 – The Letter finally left Middle-earth

* The goons follow shocked Adolfo who drives to an abandoned road, and they record every single movement of him, including the spectacular moment when he gets rid of Carmelo’s body.

* While David and JJ are watching porn, I mean, waiting for Garnica’s mail, Eddie and Valentín are creating copies of Adolfo’s one man show. Speaking of Dolphie, when he arrives at home and hears that Bertha desperately wants to get out of her room, he send his terrified maid to vacation and threatens her in order to keep her mouth shut. Crazy Dad enters the room and tries to calm hysterical Bertha down, though his caresses and hugs make her feel more frightened. He really cares for her, he would never hurt her, he just needs a companion who understands him. His confession is interrupted by the maid who gives him Eddie’s DVD. Irritated Adolfo watches it in his bedroom and he has to realize he’s been framed. *Viewerville: LOL*

* After a troubled night Alejandra finally confronts Juan José about his relationship with Elsa. Frankly, she can’t understand it. *Viewerville: Don’t worry, Ale, we don’t understand it either. Nor do the writers.* JJ assures his wife there’s nothing between them, for him Elsa is like a little sister and a friend. Maybe, but she’s mad about you! JJ doesn’t care, he loves Alejandra. At last his words melt her heart but she’s still worried about Elsa. JJ says since Elsa’s going to visit Caramelo in David’s house they won’t talk often, only when it’s necessary. Does she feel better? Yes.

* The Endless Nightmare On Braless Street continues: this time Dante interrogates Zaida and tells her not to play the innocent dove, when they met in Europe she’d been already involved in dirty businesses. She begs him not to hurt her, and she’s ready to do anything he wants. Really? She committed many errors, so she should be careful. The first question is: is Garnica alive?

*In the morning Adolfo visits Bertha in her bedroom and tells her he locked her up because she was hysterical and he wanted to prevent her from doing something stupid. He’s got many problems he has to solve, first of all he has to deal with Mario. But if she promises she won’t try to escape he won’t lock her up. He’ll trust her.

* At Dante’s the old rascal tells Zaidita, who tries to make him believe Garnica’s alive that he knows she’s lying. It was Adolfo’s idea, wasn’t it?! But never mind. Now she has to go back to Adolfo and tell him she managed to convince Sevilla. But remember: if she dares disobey he’ll kill her. *Zaida definitely wants a new job.*

* While Édgar and Valentín are writing their second letter in which they demand the second part of the money for Gaby’s shoes, the young employee takes a photo of Psycho Eddie and sighs. Papucho! (Hottie.) In his office Adolfo reads the newest e-mail he realizes the dead guy in his car wasn’t the one who impersonated Garnica. But fortunately the geeky hacker’s arrived at the condo and he explains to Adolfo he can track the location of the computer from where the e-mails were sent. However, finding out the identity of the sender will be more difficult.

* Juanita calls Yolanda who asks her to give the letter that’s hidden in her mattress back. In the meantime the hacker finds out the goons sent the letters from the same computer, most likely the used an internet café. Juanita rushes to Yolanda and gives her the famous Letter. She reads it and finally realizes it’s Carlos’s death sentence.

* Eddie and Valentín are about to visit the internet café when they notice the hacker and Adolfo’s bodyguard who ask the pretty employee about her papucho. The goons decide to get the hell out of there. Adolfo’s men show the girl a photo of Garnica, and she laughs, her man is young. She shows them the photo on her cell phone, but since the guys never met Édgar they don’t recognize him.

* Carlos visits Yolanda and when he starts gushing about how much he loves his new job and how much he wants to earn JJ’s trust, disquiet passes through her face. She confesses to him she has the Letter.

*In the condo the insane game between the crazy, caring tyrant and the frightened prisoner continues. Daddy Dolphie tells Bertha he’s going to work at home so they can spend more time together. *Grrrreat.* And they can go wherever she wants, shopping, cinema, and so on. And what about traveling, asks the little girl. Later. Right now Faidella wouldn’t let him leave the country. Bertha confesses she’s afraid, so Adolfo hugs her again and tells her he won’t hurt her. She means so much for him, and don’t forget, he wants to give her single every peso he has. All she has to do is to spend the last years with him. Bertha calms down a little bit.

* Dante gets an anonymous letter with Adolfo’s home video. While he’s watching it, Édgar calls him for more money, however, Dante knows he’s one of Adolfo’s men and sends him to hell. No, no, no, says Eddie, if Dante doesn’t pay him, the DVD will end up at the police. Adolfo and Bertha are having lunch when he also gets a phone call from Eddie. While the handmaiden is eavesdropping, Adolfo tells Édgar he knows he’s a traitor and he impersonated Garnica, therefore he won’t pay him. On the contrary, consider himself a dead man! Bertha’s on the edge of freaking out again. But Eddie doesn’t give up, he reminds Adolfo of the shoes and the diamonds. Then he tells Valentín they will have to do some investigations again.

* In their office uneasy Gabriela tells David she feels so strange lately, she’s worried about her father and she feels something’s wrong. David hugs and comforts her. In the garden of the Genovés villa the three amigos, aka Abelardo, Limón and FaustiMario are playing cards when anxious David shows up and wants to talk with his dad immediately. In the study he tells him how depressed Gaby is and when Fausto starts again his “I’m not ready to tell Gaby everything yet” speech he firmly demands him to reveal the truth at last.

* When Adolfo arrives at home he finds a very drunken, giggling Bertha in the living room. She tells him she needs to leave the flat, to meet young people and Adolfo lets her meet Jimena. She may leave the flat with his bodyguard.

* JJ also gets an envelope with the photos of Garnica’s helicopter and Carmelo holding the shoes. The letter says the guy on the photo is Carmelo Rodríguez, the man who killed Javier Garnica and Susana Gómez. If he wants more information he’ll have to pay for it. Oh, no, again?

* In a bar drunken Bertha has great time with Jimena and two guys, and by “great time” I mean sinking deeper into the pool of depression and self-destruction. When the four horny youngsters decide to go to a hotel, the bodyguard calls Sugar Daddy who orders him to get his wife out of the building.

* In Yolanda’s flat Carlos holds the infamous letter that caused so many problems. Yolanda tells him they can’t give it to the police since it says he was the one who murdered the maid. Even if he denies it, Roberto is already dead and there will be another investigation. What if he ends up in jail innocently? Okay, but then what should they do with the letter, asks the boy. Yolanda silently picks up her lighter. Wait, wait, wait. Is she sure? Yes, she is. Carlos is the one who will tell the police the truth, not the letter. As the two watch the burning paper, painful flashbacks remind screaming Viewerville of the horrible events that happened because of it.

Thanks for the links Jeri!

Aribeth, love the title! And, your picture was perfect.

Burnt, baby, burnt...I thought the montage of pictures flashing as the letter was burning was wonderful. Has there ever been such suffering and angst over a letter? Sigh.

I am really looking forward to your translating Carlos' and Yolanda's conversation Aribeth. I was surprised the letter met its fate in Yolanda's hands with Carlos' urging.

Now that any chance of written testimony to vindicate JJ is now gone, Dora is going to have to "woman up" and tell the truth no matter how distressed she is. Basta!

The walls are closing in - on Adolfo, on our somewhat loveable goons and finally, on the truth.

Adolfo was sensational. Seemingly beaten and utterly defeated one moment, springing to life with revenge and mayhem uppermost in his mind.

Cannot wait to read the recap.

Diana

Yep, knew that letter would never make its way to the cops. It has to be Dora and Carlos in person to right that wrong.

Adolfo is doing his best to seduce Bertha back to his side. But now has she gpushed him too far? I can see this dalliance with club boy ending very babdly for the guys and for Bertha. And by that I mean a bullet to the head.

Eddie and Valentin are trying all kinds of tricks to squeeze as much cash as they can get out of Dante, JJ, and Adolfo. But they're so close to being caught. Do I want them to fail? I'm not sure. I'd like for Edgar to somehow help get Zaida out of all of this. She is stuck between a rock and a hard place right now.

Diana- I agree that Julio Aleman is doing a fab job with this role. One minute falling apart and sickly looking, the next in control and seductive. The most complex (but normal) villain I think I've seen in a novela.

Thanks, Jeri!

PVAA: 11
STD: 11
LDA: 9
CME: 7
Teresa: 7
Zacatillo: 5
MDA: 4
Nina de mi corazón: 3

From our beloved LVO cast: Magana (Teresa), Barros (PVAA), Eric del Castillo (STD), María Sorté (MDA)

From the CS cast: the one, the inimitable, the adorable René Casados (CME)

I root for the PVAA cast (except the best antagonist category because Goyri was one of the few elements that made STD good) and Margarita Magana. And the ungrateful, narrow-minded organizers should be kicked in the butt for not nominating Gabriela Spanic.

Vivi:
The most complex (but normal) villain I think I've seen in a novela.

Yes, he's just as complex and believeable as the villains of the most praised American shows. He's well written and Julio Alemán's elegant acting makes him fantastic. I heard the original Adolfo in El camino secreto was very impressive, too.

Thanks Jeri for the links and thanks Aribeth in advance for the recap.

Aribeth, "sweet innocence could cause many problems if it lacks common sense." I really agree with you on that part of our conversation of yesterday. Women should approach their live with common sense.....and look at our Bertha, drinking and going to a hotel with complete strangers! That can’t end well, unless Adolfo’s goon saves the day.

Julio Aleman is stealing the show! Vivi and Diana, I agree with your comments and want to add that for me, Julio’s depth as an actor is unbelievable. He is a joy to watch. I keep thinking about Bruno (David Zepeda) in Sorti, contrasting their style. Julio is mountains ahead in capturing the essence of a seemingly real villain. What a cardboard character Bruno was!

Floridia, glad you are managing to find time to stay in touch. The Internet cafe where you posted might have a slow connection and that is why the video didn’t play well. That has happened to me before. Good luck with you studies.

Aribeth- Thanks for sharing the listing of award nominations. I'm going to share them on the other lines. I'm glad to see that Axela R has been nominated for her villain in Llena de Amor. She is wonderfully funny and evil on that role.

Aribeth: We can always count on you for wonderful updates! Gracias.

I enthusiastically agree with all but one of your favorite picks but one. I would have to choose Altair Jarabo (Llena de amor) over Alejandra simply because I haven't seen Para volver a amar.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Diana

Thank you for the nominations Aribeth!

I'm a little biased since I'm completely hooked on Teresa but I think that novela deserves some awards. It's also my mom's favorite and she has watched all (to be fair, the only reason why she doesn't care much for PVAA is because she already watched the original El Ultimo Matrimonio Felíz).

I think Paty Navidad will probably take the supporting role from Barros and Jarabo. She just stole Zacatillo.

But, I'm also rooting for Azela Robinson for best villain. I do think she was incredible in Llena. Her biggest contestant will be Rocío Banquells for CME. Margarita Magaña is not evil in Teresa so that will reduce her chances and Jaqueline Andere should have been nominated in best first actress instead.

Jarocha

Another thing I loved from last night's episode-- David finally putting his foot down and ordering Santiago to tell Gabi the whole truth. He's determined to keep her happy, especially while she's carrying his baby, and the whole MIA Faustiago and the obvious lies still circulating are making her sad and emotional. David's not having it. Good for him.

People who need to man/woman up and tell some truths to the right people:
Faustiago
Dora
Carlos
anyone else?

Poor Gabi, subconsciously she knows that she is a victim of una verdad occult and she is breaking down because of it. David has had enough and has taken FaustoMario aside and is forcing the needed confession.  Fausto, tell Gabi now!

Do you ever see the TVyN awards select an unknown, insider novela like a Madmen, that is a small unknown production? They seem to like the blockbusters whether they are good or not!

Vivi: I think it's great that David wants Santiago to admit the truth but I wonder if now that Gaby is pregnant would be the best time to tell her in real life. Santiago should have come out with the truth sooner.

Sandy: The only novelas considered in those awards are novelas made by Televisa and those are the ones that could be considered big blockbusters. They don't nominate anything from any other network. In terms of the more unknown cast the closest could be PVAA (which also has for the most part extremely well known actors).

Jarocha

Jarocha: I think Teresa has the best song and every time I see a scene with Angelique Boyer my jaw drops, she does an outstanding job. But she doesn't have any chances against Lucero and Rebecca Jones.

Y'know, I secretly hope the results will be similar to the ones of the 2009 TVyNovelas. By that time FELS was the most successful telenovela but it won only 3 awards while Alma de hierro won 8.

Great minds think alike Vivi!

Jarocha, I think Fausto needs to tell Gabi precisely BECAUSE of the pregnancy, she is a basket case already and when the hormones start to surge...... Fausto's motives are most likely kind, he is a person who avoids confrontations and in his heart of hearts, he hates to hurt Gabi. She is a worry wort and is becoming unhinged about everything. In the real world, David will get tired of having to console her all the time too. They need to get this behind them.

Aribeth: Teresa not winning best song would be a crime.

Angelique has been really great, I think she has a big future ahead of her. Sebastián Rulli has been the biggest surprise for me though. I'll admit, I've always fancied him (except in Pasión) but I never thought he mas more than a capable actor. And now he's been so amazing in Teresa that I can't believe it's him on screen. I feel oddly proud of him.

Raquel Olmedo should have been nominated for best first actress. Biggest snub of the year for me, she is such a force to be reckoned. And while I do like Ana Brenda alot in her role, to me she is taking the place of Fernanda Castillo who absolutely breaks my heart with her performance or Cinthya Klitbo who has transformed herself like a chameleon for this role.

And have you seen your doctorcito from CS2009 as naco Cutberto?

Monica Miguel HAS to win best directing.

Jarocha

Sandy: I do agree with you that Gabi needs to be told the truth. I trust nothing will happen to her since this is a novela but I did wonder if such strong emotions would harm the pregnancy in real life. Of course, when you put the worries already existing in Gabi the best thing to do would probably be for her to know everything and concentrate on being healthy.

Jarocha

Aribeth: I think we are going to see this year the awards being distributed to several novelas instead of one sweeping off the whole thing.

Jarocha

Kinda looking forward to checking out Teresa. Thanks for the info, Aribeth. :-)

Been AWOL, writing tonight's summary...

I get the impression that part of the reason Fausto is dragging his feet about telling Gabi the truth is because he is having waaayy too much fun being "Mario". It seems that afternoon game time has become quite the activity for the "Three Older Amigos". Gossip and games with food and drink. Can't beat it. :)

Jeri, I found this story and immediately thought of you with your cat avatar. I think you'll enjoy it (be sure to watch it full screen to minimize the little spinny thing):

Looking forward to the recap. The Letter is toast. Yolanda did what she had to do to protect Carlos.

Things are definitely closing in on Adolfo. His stack of card are collapsing rapidly. I'm worried about Bertha. She's spiraling out of control too. Things looked bleak for her and her friend as those two guys picked them up were definitely going to take advantage of their drunken state.

xlnt, OMG thank you! That was wonderful! I have to send that on to my husband's email. Great feature story, LOL.

Thank you for the links Jeri.

Looking forward to reading the recap. Thank you Aribeth.

I too enjoyed the flashback 'history of a letter' while it met it's firey end, and Yolanda and Carlos holding hands watching it burn. Nice touch. Very dramatic.

Margaret

You're welcome Jeri! I especially got a kick out of the third night vision camera shot where Klepto Cat was bringing home a bra!

Oh, LOL! I thought it was the bikini top the lady was talking about...

I heard about that cat on NPR the other week. It's a hilarious story. :)

Jeri, loved the photo.

Vivi, agree with your man-up list. Yolanda did what she felt she had to do to protect Carlos, but I felt Carlos took a step back as a grown man standing on his own two feet by letting her burn the letter. I was hoping he'd stop her. After the forgiveness he's gotten from JJ, he owes JJ more than this.

I would add JJ to the man-up list. I want him to man-up and state whatever it is that he has against Mauricio, even if it's that the scriptwriters made some cut and paste errors when they mixed the two original scripts. : )

Why in the world didn't Bertha go in the Ladies Room and run away?

Okay, I'm ready. :)

My favourite conversation:
Gorilla: We found a letter in front of the door.
Dante: Open it.
Gorilla: Huh, me?
Dante: Yes, if it's a bomb then it'll explode into your face, not into mine.
Gorilla: *starts to open it*
Dante: *stands up and panicks* No, not here! Go out and tell me later what you found!

***

Jarocha:
And have you seen your doctorcito from CS2009 as naco Cutberto?

Yes, yes, yes! :)))

I'm not a big fan of Rullí, but I find him more interesting than Levy, and I think I'll like him in Teresa. Álvaro Cueva wrote an article about Teresa today, and he compared his acting to Julio Alemán's! :) I LOLed since we were just talking about the two men today.
"Sebastián Rulli ya no es sólo un galán, es un señor. Hizo una transición que me recuerda la de muchos grandes ídolos de la pantalla como Rogelio Guerra o como Julio Alemán. "

Yes, Mónica Miguel is a great director, she perfectly knows how to lead telenovela actors.

I have a feeling we're going to watch Teresa together. :)

Recap is posted; thank you, Aribeth! :-)

Aribeth, thanks for the detail in your recap and for my biggest lol moment today: "The Endless Night on Braless Street."

A little late to comment but Aribeth, this was a very funny recap. Enjoyed "The Endless Nightmare On Braless St." and many other great lines.

I, too, was disappointed that Carlos did not hand over the famous letter to J J and let him decide what would be its final fate. I feel J J would have kept it and not have turned it into the police since he and Carlos have bonded. J J needed it for closure. And Carlos should be made to face his responsibilities even if it means jail time.

I am so confused about the dvd footage. The corpse looked like Caramelo in the car. It really didn't resemble Carmelo that much when Adolfo dumped him, especially, with the heavy eyebrows and when the eyes creepily opened up. I was thinking it might be Roberto back from the dead again. I assume it was Carmelo, though, and that he is really a goner. And the dvd sent to Dante was a snippet...can't figure out it's significance for blackmailing Dante.

I agree that Julio Aleman is a tremendous actor who does make Adolfo seem like a "normal" businessman and grandfather type on the surface but has created the Adolfo character as a thoroughly evil cruel psychopath but in a believable not over the top performance. I love the actor playing Dante as well. He's playing another cruel evil psychopath but one with a sense of cruel humor. LOL at his fear of poisoned letters and letter bombs.

I wonder if Adolfo's chauffeur might have recognized Edgar after all. So now Adolfo knows Garnica's really deep sixed and that Eddie is behind all the blackmail.

Never thought of Bertha as being self destructive but, now that it was mentioned, I think that she is. By going out with the guys, I was thinking she is again only thinking about herself and her immediate gratification. Bertha stating she wants to see some young people was a cruel thing to say to Sugar Daddy but I guess she intended it to be. Not bright IMO.

Fausto/Santiago...tell Gabi everything already.

Jeri, thanks for the links which I used.

GinCA

Oh, and those are wonderful pictures with the recap, Aribeth. Niece, we both mentioned Aribeth's same funny line.

GinCA

Aribeth- Wonderful recap with rich details. Thank you amiga. I think the dvd footage was a bit different for each. For Adolfo is showed him driving the off with the body and dumping it. But the footage for Dante seemed to show Dante entering or exiting the club's parking lot-- showing they know he offed Carmelo.

Vivi, you are as astute as Leo. By the way, where is Leo...abandoned by alI, I guess? Thanks for the help, Vivi.

GinCA

Aribeth: This was one of my favorite recaps of yours. Your descriptive phrases were absolutely sensational: "disquiet passes through her face" and "insane game between the crazy, caring tyrant and the frightened prisoner". I alwo enjoyed your ever-present, marvelous humor: "*Zaida definitely wants a new job.*".

Your pictures always depict the most riveting scenes. You are always on your game but this was especially fabulous.

Most men in Adolfo's state of mind would be descending into madness. However, he continually ascends back to rationality somehow. But, can it continue indefinitely?

Stellar, Aribeth. Stellar.

Diana

Thank you, ladies! :)))
