Triunfo del Amor #59-60 3/15/11

Hi, guys. I posted kinda late on Novela Maven's page yesterday, so idk how many of ya read my comment. March has been really intense for me; I have loads of schoolwork to do, and I don't think I'll be able to recap this month at all. I apologize for not being quicker to get this. Anyone want to replace me for this month and/or the remainder of the show?

Ya'll can comment on last night's epidose, which I still haven't seen, here.

As always, thanks for understanding!

[Here below is what Anon. 9:38AM has offered up to help Cielo out.  Thank you both! --Jardinera654]

  • Fernanda begs Vicky to forgive Oz; she refuses.
  • Vicky goes down to Linda/Maria D's pad, goes oops upside Linda's head. Linda taunts Vicky and Vicky calls both Linda and Maria D tramps and vows to destroy them.
  • Napo, Cruz and Millie are sad b/c of Juanjo's death.
  • Ofelia and Gui can't wait to see Victoria's reaction to being betrayed.
  • Victoria leaves the apartment and 'round the corner comes Juan Pablo. She wants to know why he's there...he's there to console Millie & Co.
  • Nati comes running in to announce Juanjo's death. Linda breaks down crying (why?)
  • The apartment crew is sitting around crying over Juanjo with Linda crying the loudest. Millie tells Linda to leave; JP recites something out of Ephesians (?) and tells Millie to forgive Linda. Why is Linda there, anyway?
  • Roxy shows up for work and pisses off Pipino. Chipmunk scenes.
  • Ximeana mad b/c Max is more concerned about his family than her. Later she skips off to Gui's and complains that Max is boring.

  • Linda & Maria show up to work and are fired on orders of Victoria.
  • Later, Maria goes to Gramma's house and tells her what happened. Burnie thoughtbubbles that Maria is a terrible sinner just like Victoria, then runs Maria down to the lab for (DNA) "tests."

CdL - no te preocupes, school comes first and foremost!

My big question last night (and why I wanted to throw something at my TV) is this: so MamaRox was hired, with no experience nor resume except that she's Vic's consuegra,,, but HOW is it that she has authority to change Pipino's designs??? Seriously. I seriously need a new tin foil liner inside my telenovela beanie hat. Gaaaaah!

Osvaldo lines. Victoria lines. Pipino did his best to throw Oscar & Toni together. Maria D got let go from her job because shop owner is afraid of alienating Victoria-the-bruja. Linda lines. Chipmunk scenes w/Pipi. Max lines. Jimena lines. I finally went to bed before it ended. I got tired of all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, and feared that the Mute button was getting worn out.

...guys, i really dont know what is really the name of Jemina's mom...until now..would u mind telling me??

A nice quiet peaceful coma would have sufficed for JuanJo. Now They've gone and made me feel guilty... I'm not so sure about Linda.

NovelaMaven, sorry I didn't get around to telling you how much I enjoyed and appreciated your recap yesterday... another gem.

Oddly, I'm pulling for Oz and Vicky to make up. They are both so selfish and self-centered that they make a perfect match.

    Carlos

Cielo- Good luck with all the school work. That comes first.

Both Os and Linda were getting on my nerves last night begging for forgiveness, but not really because either one of them really felt what they did was wrong. It was out of pure guilt. If Os was really ready to own up to what he did, then he would have told Fer straight up that he cheated on her mother. I don't know why everyone feels they have to protect Fer from the truth. And Linda was just shameless making herself the center of attention when Milagros was the one who should be getting everyone's attention. She and Os deserve each other.

Vicky is another story all together. Not only did she have MD and Linda fired from their current jobs, she is having them both followed so that she can get them fired from any other jobs they apply to. She is preventing them from making a living and supporting themselves-- basically trying to starve them to death! Even Bernie didn't do that to her all those years ago when she fired her and kicked her out.

How is it that Bernie is the only one so well versed on DNA evidence? Usually in tns, the story about how MD came to the orphanage would have been enough to convince everyone she was indeed the lost child. But our Bernie always gets 100% proof. Now if only the good guys were as thorough. Although, I don't see Vick as a good guy right now.

Nice to see Oscar making the moves on Toni. He's pretty smooth. He's been wasting his romantic skills all these years he's been pining for Vick. I wonder if he will backslide now that Vick may divorce Ossie?

Real life is your priority! Don't even think about worrying about recaps! :-) (I do hope you will still be able to join in the conversation, though.)

Anon 9:38- I thought the same thing "why is Jimena at the family pow-wow?" Gawd I hate her. And is it just me, or does she always seem drugged up in her scenes with Gui? I'm not sure if it's the actress trying to play "sated with luv/he' like a drug to me" or if they are trying to imply that Gui really is drugging her.

Miligros just broke my heart last night. Linda showed that she has no breeding. She should not have been at the apartment OR at the funeral.

And Doris-you are so right about Rox the scheming Fox. How can she just walk into the casa de modas and take over? I wasn't paying much attention last night, but I got the impression that Vic didn't really back up Pipino when he came to complain, either.

I loved JP telling mama that he was thinking of abandoning the priesthood. (Did I understand that correctly?)

I don't know why everyone feels they have to protect Fer from the truth---
    *******************************

    Fer will find out when:

    a)Blabby Gabby tells her about the rumors she heard about her parents;

    b)she walks in and overhears people discussing Oz's affair with Linda*;

    c)Ofelia drops a dime on Oz's affair to the tabloids and Fer reads about it;

    d)Padilla and son find out about it and Dumb Son tells Fer about it**;

    e)Vicky goes into a tirade and starts screaming about how Oz betrayed her with a mujerzuela;

*I can't wait to see Fer screaming at Linda when she realizes a)Linda is why*** her parents are breaking up and b)Linda was just using her to get close to Oz.

**If Dumb Son tells Fer, she won't believe him and she may go running straight to Cruz.

***Linda is not why Vicky and Oz are breaking up. Vicky and Oz's cowardice is why they are breaking up.

I loved JP telling mama that he was thinking of abandoning the priesthood. (Did I understand that correctly?)

    ********************************'

I think it was a "blackmail" situation: either you tell Victoria that Maria D. is her daughter or I'll leave the priesthood and tell her myself.

That's why Burnie raced Maria down to the DNA lab to make sure Maria really was JP's daughter.

Bernarda is too cold-blooded to jump to conclusions in this situation. Remember that the only emotion that counts for her is her own paranoid fear of damnation.

Speaking of Bernarda, I wonder whether the writers have this in mind: She intends to prevent Victoria from learning that Maria E is her daughter until she has destroyed her and then tells her the truth by handing her the next envelope.

The speech Padre Jeronimo delivered to her last night is a paraphrase of one in EPDA between Andres and Ana Joaquina.

I don't think Victoria knows that Roxana is messing with Pipino's work because she's too distracted. She should, however, be extremely peevish at her antics.

Roxana may be screwing around on purpose because she really doesn't want to work.

Linda had some damn nerve showing up at Juanjo's funeral. David and Nate from Six Feet Under would have spotted her as a drama queen while Milagros would have been the sincere "coffin jumper."

Cruz will take care of her until Napo proposes and she accepts.

Carmen Salinas almost always plays a sorrowing mother. And for someone who's almost 80 she looks awfully good.

Cielo de Levy don't worry about the recaps school comes first.

So they killed off JJ well this is a surprise not going to miss the miscast former soccer player but i am surprised they killed off his character.

I have to wonder if Victoria reacted that way to Maria E knowing about Os and LindaHo's affair what would she do if she knew Toni,Pepino and Oscar knew about it also too?

LindaHo' if you're going to talk all of that smack at least be able to back it up.

Vivi you're right Victoria in her vindictiveness went too far. Even Bernarda the serial killer didn't prevent her from getting a job when she tossed her out into the streets from her house. Oscar even told her what she was doing to Maria E. wasn't right and he didn't agree with her. Toni tried to talk some sense into her but she would not even listen to what she had to say.

When she ran into JP after confronting LindaHo' and Maria E. she has some nerve asking him why he was here? JP of course told her about consoling Milagros because her child had died.

You have to give Os some type of medal he still wanted to put the blame on his cheating on Victoria neglecting him and more concerned about her work than her husband and family. Is this all that he learned at his retreat?

Wowsers! Another night full of action!

UA: I think you are SPOT ON re what St. Bernard is planning. St. Bernard is almost to the point of despising Maria E in her thought bubbles. She is darn good at covering up how she really feels about Maria E, but JP is having more and more of those veils lifted from his eyes. He is seeing what his Madre Mia is all about. I think you are absolutely right, UA that this is St. Bernard's plan.

However...we have Mr. Faustus waiting in the wings. If he is anywhere near or around Maria E when St. Bernard tries to do her in, I think he would even sacrifice himself for Maria E.

I loved Padre Jer...he almost could not contain his disgust of St. Bernard. I loved it!

ITA with you UA that LindaHO had a heck of a lot of nerve jumping that coffin! My word. It was almost sickening.

I, too, thought that Salinas looked darn good for her age. How many actors like Salinas, Aleman, and Pinal would still be working in the US and STILL be offered key roles?! Oh my, how I love this. They are an inspiration to me for I hope to be that productive and sought after when I am their age! LOVE IT!1

Anon @ 1034: Agree with your list of how Fer will find out the truth. It would be so much better if she could just hear it from her parents.

Some of you have already mentioned this (and I am too lazy to confirm who, sorry!), but I think that Rox of the Dirty Teeth is trying to mess things up so that Max will cave and give her the money just to get her out of there. This scenario won't last for long, believe me.

What I didn't understand was the conversation between Pipino and Max? Max didn't seem to mind that Rox of the Dirty Teeth was messing with Pepino's designs. Could someone please clarify for me?

Blusam: So agree with you that Pimp Daddy Oz had some nerve blaming Vic. Did he ever in any of those scenes acknowledge that he was just as much a part of the problem?

As for Victoria, frankly, I'm glad she's having all of these fits and problems. It's about time.

She is so very, very wrong in trying to destroy Maria E. Oscar told Vic that he was not in agreement with her plan, but I wish he and Toni would snap out of it and do something to stop it.

I feel sad for Maria E, but I am glad she is getting stronger in terms of dealing with the Sandovals.

Victoria is now WIDE OPEN in terms of people coming at her from all sides. In so many ways, this is of her own doing.

    Susanita

How many actors like Salinas, Aleman, and Pinal would still be working in the US and STILL be offered key roles?!
    *****************************

Heck, a woman Lucero's age has trouble getting key roles in US Tv. If Lucero was on a US TV show, she'd be in the background playing some teen/20something's mom.

Anon at 1156: You are absolutely correct!

    Susanita

IMHO Susanita Victoria is not having *enough* fits and problems. I am so mad at her and her treatment of Maria right now.

Sara ITA!! I want to see Victoria fall some more....she has been absolutely vile in her treatment towards Maria. Maria needs to just swear off the whole Sandoval family.

When it is revealed that Maria is really her daughter, I don't want a quick resolution. I want Maria to give her the cold shoulder as long as possible. Victoria has a LOT of making up to do to Maria before earning forgiveness.

Susanita you know if Os didn't cheat on Victoria i would have agreed with everything he said to her last night but he is a complete hypocrite. He wants to blame her for his affair instead of looking in the mirror and realizing how needy and insecure he is himself.

I also ita last night i hope is the start to Victoria's downfall in what world does she believe that Maria E. had to tell her about her roommate cheating with her husband? When she was calling Maria E. a gold digger and social climber? Maybe when she called her insignificant and not on Max's level or her family's. Perhaps Maria E. should have told her when Victoria told her she control who she was going to see and when she come and go out of her hotel room? I can see how Victoria thinks Maria E. should have showed some loyalty to her.

Maria E. was right in what she told Max his step mother uses and abuses her power to control people.

Speaking of hypocrites for someone who prays a lot and goes to church doesn't Victoria realize how ungodly her actions and attitude are? Prideful is a sin and not learning to forgive and to accept others who trespass against you.

CdL no worries. School comes first.

I can't believe Oz completely blamed Vicky but then again I'm not surprised b/c he's an self-centered idiot.

Vicky continues to be really abusive to everyone around her. It would be interesting to see if the writers have her alone for a short period of time (or in a dream) so she can reflect on the reasons why this happened (and not blame others). She will daily die 1000 deaths when she learns Maria is her daughter.

Cielo/Anon. 9:38AM: School is always the priority. Thanks for letting us know. I will take Anon.'s outline of events and add it into your post so people can read that if they're looking. Come back to us when you feel you can, ok?

In case I wasn't clear, I think Bernarda is looking for Victoria to destroy Maria E before telling her that Maria E is her daughter. This is a lucky break for Bernarda that would not have happened if Victoria hadn't been so adamantly against Max's relationship with Maria E.

I think it will also be a while before Victoria realizes that JP knows their daughter's identity. It will be particularly galling that Bernarda was the source of the information.

If JP threatened Bernarda that he would leave the priesthood if she doesn't talk, that was to put the fear of God into her. If he secularizes himself I don't think he can be held responsible for breaking the seal of the confessional. Remember also that way back when she didn't want to hear that he was questioning his vocation.

Fausto will ultimately find out that Maria E is his niece, although it's bugging me that this actor is significantly younger than Diego Olivera. He looks the same age as Maite Perroni. This is the biggest casting issue I have with this series.

Prediction for Nati: She will snag a doctor for a novio but that will take another 40-50 episodes.

I am watching the episode again, and I can't believe Linda. I don't think she ever gives up. At one point last night she seemed to think that Vic finding out would just help her (Linda's) cause even more. She said Os was unhappy with Vic and that her current behavior would just make him more unhappy.

Juan Pablo even told Linda to stay away from Os. Pretty much said it was her penance, but as we see from the Avances, that is not going to stop her.

And Rox. What a piece o' work. I feel bad for Pipino.

Jimena is driving me crazy, too. Why on earth did she think it was going to be a normal, happy marriage? Max told her repeatedly pre-pregnancy that HE DID NOT LOVE HER or EVEN WANT HER. Why does she think a baby would make anything different? My goodness, Max practically had to be dragged down the aisle.

    Jer's Speech: awesome-
"Bernarda, even though you want to deny it, your soul still hasn't found rest(sosiego.) You have to confess the truth so your soul can have peace. You are more marked by sin than your son. You should worry more about yourself than Juan Pablo. He is a good priest and always will be. If he's looking for his daughter, it is to fulfill his obligation. Not to leave the priesthood. Repent of the damage/harm you've caused, Bernarda. Approach God with an open heart. It's the only way you can receive pardon/forgiveness."

    Nutjob's response:
"I've done no harm to anyone. Everything I've done has been by him/though him...for him. For love and for justice."
(She says "porÉl... para Él" Por implies by God or through his will and para implies that Bernarda was the instrument of that will.)

She is in serious denial. I really wonder if Padre Jer is next on the chopping block.

While this is not the most important event of the night, it was my fave.

Did anyone else recognize the incidental music right before Vic and Os's standoff on the driveway? I thought it was the danger theme from STuD.

And after watching again, I am even more upset about Maria's firing. I was really hoping Norma would take her under her wing. It did look like Norma hated to do it, but she really couldn't get on Vic's bad side. I don't know if I'll ever be able to like Vic after all this mess.

NovelaMaven: Finally got around to reading your recap and, as always, it brought quite a few chuckles and an intense desire to smooth my eyebrows.....

Sara: Like you, I also felt that the conversation between Padre Jer and St. Bernard was key. As UA has said before, St. Bernard is a Narcissist. She takes no responsibility for anything she has done! She is cold, cruel, and calculating (in no specific order).

Blusam: ITA! Victoria has probably the steepest climb up the Hill of Redemption that I have ever seen! Even more so than Rosendo Gasoline Pants Gavilan in STuD (that is...if he had chosen to be redeemed). What she has done to Maria E is unbelievable. Victoria can be just as cold, cruel, and calculating as Victoria.

UA: What personality disorder or diagnosis should we provisionally give Victoria? I'm really interested in your thoughts? Carlos...any thoughts? (You have access to DSM-IV).

Sara: I normally notice the music, but was so focused upon what Oz was saying to Vic, I did not hear it!

    Susanita

Sara i wasn't surprised by Norma caving into the pressure put onto her by Victoria to fire Maria E.after she quickly took Ofelia side on what she said about Maria E. lacking as a model i was not surprised by her lack of courage. Let's hope this is the best situation for Maria E. anyway. She was constantly harassed at her new work place by her former jealous co-worker, her ex-novio and his wife with her mother.Maybe this is for the best for her.

Susanita yes it's going to be a very steep hill of redemption that Victoria is going to have to climb in order to get Maria E.'s forgiveness. What gets me she had the same humble upbringing but it's ok for her to be with Os but Maria E. is not good enough for Max? This from a woman who had sex with a man who was going to become a priest? It was cold and calculating for her to conspire with XXX-factor in order for her to get Max back.Cruel has been every hurtful word she has thrown at Maria E. and sees nothing wrong with her behavior or actions towards this young woman.

Nothing at all sympathetic about Victoria she can cry all she wants about her failed marriage and her lost daughter and her family falling apart. When she truly learns to self reflect as arrogantly told JP the other night she has no reason to self reflect upon anything. Then maybe she will come to terms with what she has become as a person.

Thanks Cielo and Anon9:38 (and Jardinera). Huge continuity problem with that Roxy-wreaking-havoc-in-the-design-studio scene. One minute she's saying she wants a job; the next thing you know she's in charge of the department tearing the place apart. All the while, la familia Scandalval is still holding its pow-wow back at the manse. Did all this happen in one afternoon? Beanie-time!

I too, was grossed out by Linda's coffin-jumping act. She had no right even to be there; and where'd the tears come from? I thought she felt nothing but contempt for JuanJo. Carmen Salinas without her customary mascara was so convincing as the madre dolorosa.

I think Daniela Romo is really holding up her end in this role. She has me almost convinced of her solicitude for Maria E., despite knowing full well how completely evil she is.

    Can't wait for tonight.

    Cielo,
Don't feel bad! You gave us a bunch of great, funny recaps but now it's time to concentrate on your studies -- good luck y cuídate mucho!

Carlos and Jardinera, glad you enjoyed yesterday's recap.

Susanita, for me the question here is not: ¿Cuál será el trastorno mental de Victoria?
    sino...
    ¿Cual es su pecado?
And Padre Juan Pablo has told her (and us) the answer: Soberbia. Pride. The ugly side of Orgullo.

And the interesting thing is that, to a lesser degree, that is María D's sin as well. It's her soberbia that kept her from telling Max about her pregnancy. (She could have averted a lot of heartache -- well, and capítulos --had she done so.)

And the good padre called her on her soberbia earlier in the novela.

And the interesting thing is that, to a lesser degree, that is María D's sin as well. It's her soberbia that kept her from telling Max about her pregnancy.
    ******

So true. So very very true. An excellent point and a character flaw I completely missed because I was so caught up in her role as victim. I guess the manzana didn't fall far from the árbol de soberbia.

Vic is really going to have one heck of a road to redemption. I really have such a hard time even liking her right now. I hope something happens to change that. For now, I could care less about her happiness.

If the Avances are any indication, I will have a whopper of an episode to recap tonight. As much as I have enjoyed the action packed 2- hour episodes of the last two weeks, I will be kind of glad to get back to 1 hour episodes again.

I wasn't that crazy about last night's episode. The Fer thing was dumb (she was the only one that couldn't know what was going on). Juanjo's death for no apparent reason, unless the network found a loop hole in his contract and could stop paying him somehow. Vic screaming all night. Linda throwing herself on the coffin of someone she didn't even like. I don't think she would even do this out of guilt because I don't think she has a conscience. Bernie up to her old tricks.

I actually enjoyed the avances the best. Vicki (who I really hate) overdoses (hope she dies), Maria D almost lets it slip she's pregnant, and Gui tells Os about his affair with Jimena??? and that the baby is his?????

and Gui tells Os about his affair with Jimena??? and that the baby is his?????

    ****************************

But will Oz keep quiet to keep from admitting he was wrong to pressure Max to marry Xi?

NovelaMaven: You are correct. JP hit the nail absolutely on the head about Victoria's pecado: Soberbia. I don't really think Vic has a personality disorder in the true sense of the word, but she does have a distorted sense of self. Her world centers on her...not a true narcissist, but so self centered that she doesn't look beyond her own immediate needs.

She is so unlikeable right now it is not even funny.

Linda HO...oh my...she does not learn, does she? I think she will have a very painful downfall. I'm not quite sure what awaits her, but she runs the huge risk of losing the only friends she has right now.

    Susanita

I'm wondering how far these two pregnancies will go. Will we get a fast forward one year storyline a la Eva Luna? Or will it all get taken care of before any of them start showing?
