Eva Luna #105 Mon 4/4/11 Julio’s Last Laugh; Tony’s Apt Apology; Alicia’s Big Reveal

Cap.#105

As we pick up where we left off, Victoria has returned to the Villaneuava manse and surprises Liliana with a visit; and Don Julio comes to taunt Inmate Marcela.

Julio visits Inmate Marci in jail to get the last laugh. He snickers at her “new wardrobe” and says he’s there to see her locked up behind bars, humiliated, and defeated the way he’s wanted to from the day he discovered that she’d been poisoning him. She tells him she should have had his body exhumed and he cheerfully agrees it was a costly mistake on her part not to have. Now, he says, she’ll have to suffer daily for every drop of poison she had him drink and for the crime she committed. He’s sure she’ll never be able to hurt anyone from behind bars. Marci hisses that they’ll see about that! She tries to one-up him then, and says he’s going to have to pay for the crime of faking his death. He explains that he was never actually declared formally dead, and now his brilliant plan against her has been completed flawlessly. She spits at him to get out of there. He’ll leave, he says, but first he came to give her the third and final letter. “--Here, little viper!” He pushes the envelope through the bars and walks away, laughing his head off the whole time. She reads the two words scribbled in Julio’s handwriting:

“I won!”

Lileach asks Ictoria how she got into the bedroom. Icky says she should be asking her that question--not that it’s necessary because she can pretty much figure it out on her own! Lusty-busty Lil tricked her, she complains, making her believe that she was going to help her win Daniel back, when the only thing Lil really intended was to take Dano for herself! Lili explains the facts of life--at least, as they are presently--to Icky: the house isn’t Icky’s home any longer and very soon, once the divorce is final Dan’s not going to be Ictoria’s husband, either. Remember why? Because Icky’s some kind of crazy dangerous and no man wants her! (Almost makes Viewerville feel sympathy for Icky…almost.) Our blond bimbutt whines that Lili’s worse a traitor than Eva! Lili says it doesn’t matter what V-icky says because Lil’s won Dano away from both of them! Icky says think again! She threatens to tell Dano how Lileach helped her plan to kidnap his daughter, to kill Eva, and afterwards locked Icky herself away so Lili could get a chance to work her charms on him up close and personal. Leggy Lil’s heard enough and the two go at it bleached tooth and acrylic nail.

Lili changes her mind after nearly choking Ictoria and dares Icky to tell Dan whatever since no one will believe a nutcase like Ictoria anyway. Besides, the police are searching for her! If they find Icky there, Lil will tell them herself that Icky snuck in to kill Laurita. She’ll end up in jail. So go ahead and tell Dan if she dares to! Icky backs off and tears up. Suddenly Dan starts knocking on the door because he heard the racket. The two panic. Icky warns she’s going to get even with Lil, reminds her she’ll have to help her get back out of the house again, and then hides while Lil lies to Dan about just being frightened and mistakenly thinking Victoria was rustling around in her closet. (Looks like it’s another Mexican standoff between these two frenemies!)

Somewhere else in the house, Laurita gives a moping Francisco grief about Jackie going out with hubba hubba Humberto, the handsome gardener. FF>>

That evening, Alicia pays Leonardo a visit in his bedroom and reminds him that he promised they’d tell Eva together about the baby once Mama Marci’s trial was over. Leo plays on Ali’s sympathy and asks for a bit more time since the trial was so emotionally brutal for him. She agrees to give him one more week. He smiles to himself after she’s gone. “--That’s enough time to get free of her!”

The next morning at the ad agency, Tony stops by to speak with Ali at her make-up station. He wants to know if she and Leo have told Eva about the baby yet. Of course he begged off for a few more days, she admits. Tony says it doesn’t surprise him a bit. Deb walks up and overhears enough of the conversation to find out Alicia’s pregnant. Tony excuses himself and heads for Eva’s office. Ali explains to her mother that she found out a few weeks before Marcela’s trial. Deb wants to know who the father is, but Alicia refuses to tell her mother anything except to say that it’s not Tony’s. She makes Deb promise not to tell Eva yet. She can’t tell her mother, she says, because she hasn’t the courage to and she’s going to die of embarrassment when Eva finally finds out. Deb promises to help her out, no matter whose kid it is.

Out in the reception area, meanwhile, Giorgio, Olga, the receptionist, and Dan’s secretary are gossiping about the trial and how Marcela could have ruthlessly killed Dan’s parents. Something comes up about Leo and Gg tells them Leo’s not so very different from his mean-minded mama. They want to know what he is talking about. He can’t tell yet he says, but it will all come out in the wash soon and they’ll find out in due time.

Tony knocks on Eva’s door. She reluctantly gives him a minute to speak with her. He tells her he’s there to apologize for his past behavior and to tell her that he’s truly in love with Alicia. Eva wants action, not words, though. Dan comes in a few minutes after. Tony says he asked Dan to come by also so he could apologize to both of them for what he did when Eva was accused of stealing the money. She wants actions and so here it is: he explains that the business about Eva and Ali literally hooking millionaires to steal from them was all lies he made up to keep the Dan and Eva apart from each other. He did it because he was blinded by his hate for Eva. He wanted to get even with her because he thought she was the reason Alicia wouldn’t get serious with him although he knows now it was himself that was the problem. Dan and Eva are WTF??-impactados.

Meanwhile, Icky runs over to Eva’s place looking to speak to Mama. Renata sympathetically tells her she can’t speak to Mama because she’s in jail for the murder of Daniel’s parents as well as Dan’s first wife and Leo’s daddy. She learns also from Ren that her father is still alive and that he faked his death when he learned her mother was trying to poison him. This is a bit much for Icky to take in all at once, but she manages.

Leo visits his mother in jail to complain to her about having killed his father and wants to know why. Marci tells him it was because his daddy was confusing him by filling his head with crass sentimentalism and getting in her way. “—You know that when people become a nuisance you have to eliminate them.” Leo says he doesn’t give a rat’s patoot about any of the others she offed, but he’ll never ever forgive her for killing his own father! He gets up to leave. Marci grabs him by the necktie and drags him down to the table again. She is spittin’ mad and tells him he’s exactly the same as she is, and that he’s got no right judging her like that. Leo disagrees and says he’s never killed anybody. Marci says of course he has! Remember Eva’s father? Then, she sneers, not satisfied with that, he wants to blame it on his best friend! She continues by reminding him how he begged her just a few days ago to get rid of Alicia’s baby the same way he had her help him with Claudia’s baby.

Leo says that’s different because he never had Mama get rid of anybody that was important to her personally. She laughs in his face. “--What? My grandchild wasn’t important? Don’t give me that B.S. about your papi! You’d have gotten him out of the way if he got to be a nuisance, just like you did with Claw! You can’t deny either that you are capable of anything provided that you manage to get what you want! So don’t you come to me with that sanctimonious stuff because I know you too well!.”

We beam over to Dano’s for a bit of a breather while Laurita, trying to play matchmaker, plays twenty questions with Jackie about her love life. Jackie’s answers sum it up: she is going out with Humberto and she’s giving up on Franc cuz she thinks he’s a lost cause and doesn’t want to end up an old maid. Life’s too short! FF>>

Back in Eva’s office, Dano and she agree that Tony sincerely regrets his past mistakes. Dan says he’s not going to blame Tony because he was just as guilty for having idiotically believed all the garbage Tony told him--even though he had his doubts. Dan says he understands Eva better now also because of it—how she let herself be tricked into believing all the things that Leonardo made up to keep them apart. That’s why she’s doubted his innocence. He knows deep down, though, that she knows he’s not guilty. “--I told you I would show you and it will be the first step to winning you back and keeping you from marrying Leonardo!” He tells her he has never stopped loving her and he feels that she really hasn’t stopped loving him either. Dan leaves her alone to think about what he’s just said. Eva tears up a tad.

Ren takes Vicki to her father’s new manse for a reunion. Julio tells Icky she’s made some bad mistakes but he and Dr. Garcia will see what they can do to help her. She can live there with him in the meantime. Icky admits she’s done some really stupid and mean things and says she really feels guilty about it all. Her one complaint, though, is about his giving Eva all he did, especially since Eva took Dan away from her. Julio reminds her that he told her marrying Dan was a mistake because they weren’t right for each other. She and her mother insisted and now Icky’s been unhappy because of refusing to pay attention to his advice. V-icky won’t disagree. As for the inheritance, he says, she and her brother distanced themselves from him and made their own choice to do so. He gave them what what was suitable and due them. She realizes he’s right. They tearfully hug some more.

Humberto comes to Dan’s house to get Jackie. Laurita tells Franc to get off his backside pronto and do something drastic or face losing Jackie for good. While Laurita stalls Jackie, Franc goes out and gives Humberto some tall tale about all of Jackie’s dates going missing and their families never hearing from them again. Humberto has second thoughts and splits. Jackie comes into the living room and finds out that Humberto got called away and “cancelled.” FF>>

Ictoria tearfully admits that the day she thought he’d died she realized how much he meant to her and she apologizes for whatever disrespect she’d shown him growing up. He sends her upstairs to relax and take a nap while they wait Dr. Garcia to come to examine her.

After Dr. Garcia examines Victoria he discusses what he thinks with Julio. Icky sneaks down the stairs to hear what they’re saying. Dr. Garcia says some of the answers she gave to some of his questions seemed to point towards mental instability in incoherency. He suggests they intern her in a hospital for a while to undergo treatment.

Back at the ad agency, Eva chats with Ali about Tony’s change of heart and his new-found maturity when apologizing for his past behavior towards them both. Eva adds that he’d also admitted to being in love with Ali. Ali says he’d recently told her the same thing. She gets up off the couch while they’re still in the middle of their discussion and faints dead away. Eva rushes her to the hospital ER to be examined. She’s there in the room while the doctor says they’ll have to do x-rays and starts asking Ali questions. One of those questions is whether Alicia is pregnant. Alicia breaks down, knowing she can’t lie any longer. She admits she’s pregnant and can’t take the needed x-rays. Eva’s first question is who the guy was.

Thanks for the recap.
I liked this episode. Didn't understand why Tony didn't say everything to Eva.
Alicia is still stupid.
I hope Vicky will realize that she was acting bad. She need to do something good - maybe to tell them how Leo killed Eva's father. I was sorry for her when she saw her father. I will like to see her happy with her father. I know she wasn't good but if she want ask for fogiveness I will accept it.

Icktoria will still have to pay big for what she did to Sabrina. That was cold-blooded and premeditated.

Ali is still an idiot, but here's hoping she will finally tell someone that Leo is the father of her baby. We only have 5 episodes left!

On another note, I can't believe that Juan Soler's new series will air at 7 and the comedy one at 8. This makes no sense at all.

Jardinera,

Thank you for a great recap. I was hoping that Uni would reveal or at least get the complete Alicia's mess out of the way. But I guess is a little is better then nothing.

Really, what was the point in Tony's coming clean, if he wasn't going to tell all to Eva and Dan. especially about the picture and who was behind it, and why he fake called Dano about being a parts buyer (for the Red Car)? Why didn't he rat out Leo for heaven sake?

Jardinera: LMAO "Bleached tooth & Acrylic Nail"

Leo & Marcie conversations while she's in jail. WOW!!! Guess she told him.

I don't believe Icky feels bad at all for the things she has done (in the name of her Love for Dano). It's just like Marice was telling Leo. I know you When people get in your way of what you want you elimate them. I totally believe Leo, Marcie and Icky have all subscribe to the same book club Murders and Manipulators.

I suspect that Victoria's now-more or less-confirmed mental instability will probably be used to explain away most of her misdeeds...let alone in the face of the upcoming parentage reveal--gee, thanks, avances. But since she's the only one who knows Lili's true colors (well, mostly)...there may yet be some karma recycling for her coming up.

(/random: Renata with her hair down. Seriously, that shocked me almost as much as Marcie blasting Leo for daring to judge her--which might have been one of the best Susana Dosamantes scenes in the entire show!)

As for Tony's confession: even if it didn't go as far as it could have it was still about one of the very first lies that began to split up Eva and Daniel, IIRC. (Not saying I wasn't disappointed either, but with five more episodes to go I'm not really that surprised.) It almost sealed it for me that he's going to survive the show and end up with Alicia Puss-in-Boots. But I can't shake that feeling that either El Gallo or Leonardo could still end up taking him out; then again, with Carlos seemingly gone from the canvas entirely we're back to his being the only choice left for our resident stupid ingenue...

Great recap. I agree with Michelle and with Bill C. I was disappointed in Tony's 'wee bit' of truth, I was expecting him to put his hand in his suit and pull out the pictures, or tell Dano that Leo had made him call him for the setup of the car. But on the other hand like Bill said it was a dramatic moment. Dano's comments to Eva were so spot on, I was amazed that the writers thought of that.

Alica and the constant teasing of saying who the father is.... One of the telenovela magazines state that while Eva played by Blanca Sota has been notable, they state the best thing about this TN, are the actors who play alicia and tony. I have to figure that the writers/producers agree and want to keep the Alicia story going, and that is why they have dragged their feet on this particular plotline.

Marcela made threats against Leo when she was ragging on him about how he was such a nobleman. Maybe she will do a tell all. Can't figure out Ictoria. Hearing that her elevator isn't going to the top right now might make her go off the deep end but, alas, I think her story is done when Renata does a tell all. Like the way Don Julio would back away from the bars while visiting Marcela...like she had the strength to reach through the bars and do him in. I am conflicted over either Tony doing a tell all or Alicia being so weak minded that she can't help herself and tells Eva about lover Leo

Wonderful recap. I love that you captured Marci's conversation with Leo. That was spectacular.

I think Tony didn't tell Eva and Dan about Leo being behind all this crap because he has not figured out what he's going to do about Leo yet. Leo would kill him, or try, if Tony reveals his secrets. And that would bring Gallo into the whole mess. I don't think Tony is ready for all that.

But speaking of people who could reveal Leo's true colors, why don't JoJo and Dan go to the cops with what they know about Leo killing Eva's dad, or at least tell Eva?!

ITA with Bill that Susana Dosamantes was brilliant in the jail visit scene with Leonardo... you tell him viper!! he is nothing but a male younger version of you!
Sorry i have been away folks... have had much to do both at work and been trying to rest at home...
jardinera, great recap, and gloria, thanks for all the dialogue on friday's ep... that was a great episode too!
My only issue with the whole Dr Rivera story is why did the poison work just as well for killing someone right off the bat (within 24 hrs of taking it as in the case of Leo's dad, Dan's parents and Rita's brother) as in killing someone slowly like Julio and Marce's first husband... Marce must have become someone more skillful at pharmacy mixing than a pharmacist himself

Dano & Eva don't need to go to the police as a couple of episodes back Eva talked to her attorney and has withdrawn the charges against Dano. There was a passing of a big manila envelope w/papers between the attorney & Eva.

Thanks for the recap.

Vivi,

Remember Eva is still in Stupid Mode with anything about Leo. So Dan and JoJo wont tell her a dang thing. As far as them telling the cops. Its there word against his, it would be like Debra being on the witness stand again useless.

I thinking Eva has to be slap really hard with Leo's misdeeds, before she'll stop believeing everything he says. by the way I think the slap which will wake Eva up, is to know that Leo been sleeping with Alicia all this time, and that she Alicia's is now going to have his baby.

Jardinera, thank you for the recap, it was full of detail, and I am forever grateful. This was a very revealing episode. It is a good thing since we are nearning the finish line.

I loved when Julio finally told Icky what a terrible child she has been! But she has not changed her ways as evidenced by her lurking on the stairs. I don't think her story is over.

Lil better not start counting her chickens yet, Dan is not hers.

Eva, please change gears in that pretty head of yours, Leo is just scum.

Rosemary

So if Don Julio has now installed Icky in his current house, What happens when Eva and the baby come to visit. All hell going to break lose. B/c his crazy daughter still blames Eva for all her life problems. And Eva has not forgive Icky for taking the baby

Thank you Jardinera. The dialog was much appreciated as a good deal of it went right past me. I think Tony didn't dare say more because he really really really wants to get together with birdbrain Ali, and if he betrays her trust, it'll never happen. But where are those pictures? Of all the plot devices at their disposal, you'd think they'd pull this one out now. It's tantalizing. We have so much ground to cover in so few episodes.

I sure hope the Francisco-Jackie thing is on el rumbo a la gran final. I'm tired of it.

Hello All. Jardinera, thanks for retelling the story so beautifully. I am on board with everyone.Tony didn't go far enough in his confession, but on the other hand he has take Leo and Gallo into consideration. Poor guy, I almost feel sorry for him. Victoria has a lot to answer for. I also believe all of Marcela's influences will wash away when she goes to jail or a psychiatric hospital. They sure made the Alicia character "naive". How she can still trust Leo is beyond me. Eva must be a little in love with Leo. That's the only explanation for this stubborn refusal to break the engagement. Why would anyone, in her right mind ,want to marry a man with a mother like that? Isn't she concerned that the fruit may not fall far from the tree????
Thanks again my beautiful Jardinera.

Hanna

Thanks for the recap Jardinera.

ITA w/all of you that feel Icky still has a way to go and her "turn around" seems too good to be true.

UA - ITA about the new Soler TN. I thought it would be the 8 pm.

Hanna - yes, Eva might have a little crush on Leo b/c with all his family problems for her never to suspect he might be tainted is ridiculous.

Thanks everybody! I had to rush through it all cuz of personal scheduling conflicts, but it's 99% there, at least.

I don't believe Icky is truly repentant or ready to accept Eva on her level. Does she know that Eva is "Tia" Deborah's real daughter yet or was she kept out of the loop? I can't remember. She needs to go to jail for the acid incident with Sabrina and if the tn gods don't handle that, then I have no respect left for them at all.

There's got to be a good reason Tony hasn't brought up the pictures of Eva and Leo, and ITA that getting Leo and Gallo on his case is probably kept him good and quiet.

I don't think Tony would connect the dots between the car parts and Daniel's father, and might not even know about Dan's father.
Let's face it, they have 6 more episodes, and if they reveal Leo's sins now, the story would be over. I would look for that secret to be revealed during the Gran Final.
Michele: ITA myself, but TN's have this idea if a character has any mental illness they can't be really guilty.
Martaivett: the poison's effect is well known, it is dose related, and because it isn't excreted it builds up to toxic levels if given a little at a time. A big enough dose kills right away. NOT that I'm an expert...

Hey,

I just had a thought, the gun that was in the strong box under Leo's bed which Alicia handled has yet to come into play. So we might have another death on our hands before the end of the week. Is this possible? Or will that go out the window the same way Carlos did?

Thanks so much, Jardinera, for a first-rate recap. I'm coming late to the discussion and don't have much to add to the excellent remarks already here, but I did want to express my gratitude for your hard work and terrific results.

Jardinera, Great recap as always. Wonderful details with the dialouge.

I have never denied it, and again know I am in the minority but I like Tony, don't like his bad behaviors, but I do like him. I agree he is in a bit of a predicament with Leo and El Gallo and I think before this is all over we will have some kind of mob operation where perhaps Tony works with the police to rat on El Gallo.

Loved the Marcella Leo confrontation. He is such a dope to not realize he is just as bad as his mother.

Can't wait for tonight. Thanks again Jardinera.

Prediction:

Lileech will disfigure Icky with acid.

Thank you for the recap, Jar. I'm busy planning a trip to Peru for May, so I didn't get around to the recap and the comments until now.

Have nothing to add either. I agree with eMarie--the BIG secreto won't be revealed until the end. Then I guess there will be a hurry up boda. I really wanted to see Daniel in his bathing trunks again.
