El Mundo de Telemundo – Week of June 26, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves
The Flor of the title, Amanda Monteverde, is driven by desperation to look for work in a down and dirty cabaret where she will find love and lust and envy and friendship and malice – (there is even a character named ‘Alicia’ whom everyone calls ‘Malicia’!)
So. As we’ve learned – sometimes to our delight, as in the case of La Reina del Sur, but more often to our chagrin, as in Aurora – it’s the writing, stupid. Stay tuned.
La Casa de al Lado: I’m still following this one but for how long, I don’t know. The plot twists have become irritating rather than suspenseful or shocking. We’ve all remarked, in one way or another, that there are no truly likeable characters even if there are a few pretty good actors. There’s not even a good musical hook, a theme song that grabs you and keeps you watching, even when you know the song is better than the show. I just know it’s not a good sign when a lead character walks suicidally into the water (Like Ignacia did last night in what I can only assume is a weird homage to Virginia Woolf) and all I can think is: You’re not gonna sink – you have to put stones in your pockets! Sigh.
Fans of Mi Corazon Insiste and Herederos – a fresh page for your thoughts.

NovelaMaven, you made my day! LOVED "You're not gonna sink - you have to put stones in your pocket."
Boy, these are some seriously annoying people. Pilar had one moment of being tolerable when she le dijo cuatro verdades a Javier in the kitchen. But she went back to exopthalmos (bug eyed) soon after, frantically looking for her rotten husband and enlisting her lover in the search.
Rosario almost told her mother about Nacho but, of course, didn't go through with it.
The Del Monte Dummies keep saying Paula lied to them, when I'm pretty sure she said she herself did not know she might not be the child of Emilio.
Boy I hope Rosario dumps Lucas! She finally, finally tells him what Nacho did, and he believes Nacho's tale of her being a compulsive liar instead.
It was a great scene when Juan, not even looking at him, throws José out, without even his clothes.
Gaspar has gone off his meds again and behaves the worst yet to Guadalupe. He calls her a campesina, and tells her no one will ever want her because he was her first. What? Please leave this jerk, Lupe.
Paula follows José and is ready to charge in there to rescue Pablo/Emilio and Adela all by herself, while in the midst of a somewhat risky pregnancy. This is excruciatingly dumb.
Nacho swears to make Consuelo afraid of him.
We are treated to the absolute height of stupidity when Julieta has chickens in what I think is Paula's room and rubs dirt in the bedspread and shakes beads around. This what the brujo apparently advised to to do. I can just imagine that this scene was interrupted several times by hysterical laughter while being recorded.
This is now my favorite novela. It's not, of course, as good as La Reina del Sur; but we may not ever see another like that one. I mean to say it's my favorite current one. The acting is good, and I like the mix of comedy and drama.
Lola apparently believes Debora about the pregnancy. She decides to tell Andrés the truth - that she's not pregnant becauses she is tired of the lies and especially doesn't want him thinking she's expecting HIS child.
I love the scenes where Debora confides in Vicki, her mother. And Vicki points out the flaws in her plans. When she fails in seducing Andrés on her highly fertile day, she decides to turn to Marcelo. She's thinking this way she'd pass a DNA test with flying colors. If she succeeds in getting pregnant, she's got a big surprise coming.
And Danny Boy catches them making suggestive remarks in the doorway, always a mistake. Is it possible he'll see his father for what he is anytime soon?
Lola overhears Sofía telling Soledad that, if she doesn't snap out of it soon, she's going after Rodrigo herself. And she says what I've been thinking for a long time. That Sole is being very selfish, making her daughter suffer. I'm now convinced that Sofía is a force for good, that she won't sabotage Sole's recovery to get Rodrigo for herself.
Rodrigo and another guy trick a prostitute and have an excuse to take her into the station to try to find out about the murdered girl. They finally get it out of her that there's a big crime ring bringing women in from all over Latin America in containers that are sent on ships. This sure seems like it could be what Marcelo has been helping Mr. Evil Bass Voice do. The prosti tells them that the murdered girl tried to escape.
Rod promises the girl he'll get her a new identity and move her to another city. However, there are a couple of EBV's (evil bass voice) guys outside the copy shop.
Diogenes shows Lola the hospital bill he was given by the new director, and says she's going to have to be his wife in the full sense of the term to pay him back.
Sofía hypnotizes Lola and regresses her back to childhood memories. First she's a cute 5-year-old with cowboy boots. Then she's about two and hiding in a closet from some villain who then seizes her and puts his hand over her mouth.
Thanks, Novelera! It's a lot more fun cracking wise when someone is kind enough to snicker!
Pilar (MR) is reminding me of the actress Laura Flores, another beautiful woman who has a way of making herself ugly when she is trying to show sorrow or fear. She might do well going back to antagonista roles where a little eye narrowing and a nasty smile go a long way. Not everyone can play a Magdalena and get away with it.
Great summary novelera!
I totally missed the DNA connection in Devora's logic, in going after Andreas dad. Rodrigo has been pretty tight with this little tid bit, but don't Daniel and Sofia also know that Rodrigo is Andreas true father.
My favorite scene was Bigotes strip tease in the peep cams, but alas, Dr. D was too busy watching Lola to see it. I keep thinking she will team up with Andreas, who is being overwhelmed with baddies. And Veronica, she is so good at what she does.
Didn't know JenCarlos could play soccer, he is pretty good!
I was embarrassed by the scene with Consuelo and Rosario not quite beating up on Nacho. There was no way he was going to get what's coming to him from what they did.
These two are "good girls" who shouldn't be afraid to not only defend themselves but to speak up to the appropriate people. Agree that Rosario should absolutely dump Lucas for not believing her.
Great summary, Novelera. I like this show because unlike some of the other ones, it's got humor. Every scene with Debora and her Mom Vickie is a scream! I loved when Vickie said "You don't even think before you talk, do you, daughter?" Debbie says, "No, it's amazing, the words just keep pouring out." I liked when Debbie congratulated herself as a great actress when she told Lola she was pregnant. Debbie's various expressions are really funny to me.
Daniel continues to flip back and forth between good and evil. I agree, his finding out that Marcelo and Debbie are amantes will push him more to the good side.
Dr. D is really not following his original agreement. Lola told him way back that she'd marry him, but no sex. Now, he's holding up the hospital bill, and wanting payback. This is not fair on his part.
And yes, Deb, the Etelvina striptease was hilarious, especially since Dr. D didn't even look!
Let's all remember, this is a telenovela, not real life. It's sort of like Desperate Housewives on steroids. Yes, Pilar is way over-acting, but I bet the director tells her to do this. Listen to the music the next time she gives one or her "faces". Everything that happens is supposed to be super, super, shocking. And it is. So I'm enjoying this wild ride not for reality, but for the craziness.
It was funny to me that Renato, having found out that only he, Gonzalo, Pilar, Javier and Ignacia know about Ignacia and Javier's baby (which is not even true, Rebeca knows, too), said let's keep it quiet, no one else can ever find out. As if! All the secrets on this show are going to come out. Why? Because that's really the whole be-all and end-all of the show. Secrets. There are many that we don't know about, with Igor Mora, with Leonardo, Adolfo, Ricardo Merino, probably with Eva, Hilda and Emilio's little secret, and more.
Secrets and lies. Where have I heard that before?
Deb, I can't remember if Daniel knows that Marcelo is not Andrés' father. I know he's stood by while Marcelo constantly disparages Andrés. He also tries to get Danny to hate his brother by repeatedly telling him Andrés was their mother's favorite.
Sofía knows because her sister confided in her when she was pregnant with Andrés. And, of course, we have to suspend disbelief in that the actress playing Sofía is old enough to have been attracted to Rodrigo before Andrés was even conceived. She looks about 28.
Yes, Hombre, you're right. Dr. D promised Lola hands off. But that was when he was getting full-time nursing care for her mother by basically embezzling it from the hospital. Now that it looks like he's going to have to pay the piper, he wants his money's worth.
I'm pretty sure Daniel does know that Andres is not Marcelo's son, but has been advised by Marcelo to keep this quiet for now. If Andres knew, he could really disinherit Marcelo, since all the money was his mother Laura's (of course Laura was Daniel's Mom, too. Maybe that's why Daniel keeps flipping from good (Laura) to bad (Marcelo). OTOH, Laura was an alcoholic, but I guess she had reason to be, married to that bum Marcelo. BTW, since I love the actress who played Laura, I hope she comes back as a ghost. I mean, if Chabela can do it, why can't she? :)
Although the scene with Julieta and the chickens was funny not just because of all the chickens, the dirt, the pins in the doll, but because I think we're supposed to believe that this stuff works! Fortunately, I think Berta's good magic will be strong enough to overcome Julieta's bad magic, although she was interrupted by Pedro when she was pouring all those flowers and water on herself, which could jinx the whole thing, and let the black magic work.
Although Lucas is behaving like an idiot, I do think he'll eventually see the light and he and Rosario will be together, although I'm not sure either one of them deserves the other.
I just remembered that at the end of the episode, Javier was discovered slumped over his car's steering wheel, an empty bottle of pills on the ground. Could he really be dead? Hopefully not, since I really like his malevolence.
Brujeria has worked in previous novelas, so it's reasonable to think that it does.
On that note, I once knew a Cuban guy whose younger sister unknowingly married into a family that practiced Santeria. When she found out she couldn't run fast enough. Two weeks after she left her husband her apartment flooded. Within another week her brother's apartment had a nest of wasps in a globe-shaped kitchen ceiling light fixture. There were no wasps in the area and her inlaws had never been in the apartment, nor did she have a spare set of keys they could have taken.
You don't mess with this stuff.
It's interesting. I had a completely different take on the brujería.
Hombre, you seem to think we're meant to believe Julieta's spell worked. Perhaps this is because Paula is now in the clutches of the baddies.
And Urban A, you cited an example of this stuff working.
On the other hand, all I could think of was that the brujo was as big a crook as those people who used to fake voices from the other side at seances. I just thought he was ripping Julieta off. And, of course, we all know that no harm will come to Paula, that she won't be Emilio's daughter, and that she and Juan will walk off into the sunset together.
I have my doubts about the romantic outcomes of the other couples. You're probably right, Hombre, about Lucas and Rosario. Although I don't think she should take him back. I'll be disgusted if Lupe stays with Gaspar.
I'm hoping for Berta and Modesto. I'm also hoping Beatriz will have a magical change and fall in love with Efraín.
who is the guy that works at los gavilanes? almador? i hope he gets a guddun! lupe or rosario, i guess. seems like he's the only single guy around besides mr rapey!
it's too bad i missed that episode. i can't remember if anybody's posting these eps on youtube anymore, seems like a nice round of cease & desist letters went out to keep new eps off.
-mai tai
Thanks, Mai Tai, it's Amador. I was actually thinking of him for Guadalupe, but I couldn't remember his name. Actually, he was interested in Rosario way back when, so maybe that could happen.
I'd like to see all the Del Montes except for Juan without women. They're too dumb to reproduce and should remove themselves from the gene pool.
Debora and Vickie continue to crack me up. Debbie has the cutest little expressions. She goes from triumph to despair and back at the drop of a hat. Operacion conejito (the bunny plan) seems to be working. She may be pregnant by Marcelo (they did it twice to make sure, although he doesn't know why), but in the meantime, she's got that corrupt anesthesiologist signing papers saying she's positivo (he also paid a nurse to help with the scheme). So Andres (and Lola) now have this new inconvenient "truth" to deal with.
Oh, that sneaky Javier. Not only is he not dead, he's totally faking his barbituate overdose, milking Pilar for everything he can (with the consent of his doctor friend, Alfonso, another in the long, long line of doctors in telenovelas who bend rules).
You know what I think? Javier is behind EVERYTHING. He's the one who killed Ricardo Merino, and has now stolen his identity, and is sending the computer messages, such as You HAVE NO FATHER to Dieguito. Of course this makes no sense, but certainly he knew that he himself was going to fake his overdose. This is of course a total guess, as I have not seen any spoilers (and I'm usually wrong in my guesses).
But I have another thought. Gonzalo had a super sneaky look at one point. Could it be that he and Javier are working TOGETHER? I know they always fight, have affairs with each other's wives, but what if it's all a big setup, to somehow get Renato's money? I know it's far-fetched (my Nibaldo idea doesn't look so hot now), but who knows?
thanks Hombre!
Somewhere in last nights episode I too got the idea that Javier might be faking it and that Gonzo was in on the deal. this all started with Pilar wanting to call an ambulance, which would have taken him to a hospital, instead Gonzo suggested they drive him to a nearby clinic where there was a doctor that was familiar with Javier.
and what a creepy doctor, his face looks like a rubber mask.
all of the secondary cast seems to have come out of a black and white horror film
Andrés blocks Diogenes car and gets out and gives it to him but good. He calls him a tricky liar and tells him that Lola is going to be his again very soon.
Lola gets mad at Sofía for putting her through the hypnosis. But then she goes to Soledad and questions her. Sole goes into convulsions. I'm getting sick of Sole's scenes.
While Debora is using Marcelo as a sperm donor, Diogenes calls and leaves a message that Andrés is ready to leave her. This gives her enough of a warning to meet Dr. D at the hospital for a faked pregnancy certificate.
Chabela tells Lola what she remembers. Her sister left home when she was younger than Lola for some rotten guy that she never had a chance to meet. Years later she showed up thin and badly treated with Lola as a babe in arms. There was a little inconsistency there for me. If she got away from whoever when Lola was an infant, then how do we account for Lola hiding in the closet at around two years of age? Wasn't she safe at Tía Chabela's? Chabela also said that from the moment Solita returned she was scared all the time and didn't want to go out.
Veronica gave us a minute of hope when she suggested that Debora's pregnancy tests be "repeated" at the hospital But no. Pantoja the creep fakes a positive result.
Lola and Rodrigo decide to try to discover the truth about her background. They discover that she was born in Panama to an American mother.
The bad guys follow the cops to the safe house and later kill the "protected" witness and two of Rodrigo's detectives.
As usual, Sofía gets on my last nerve. She's come to La Arboleda looking for José. But she won't tell Juan that José is behind the kidnappings and may have Paula as well.
We get a bit of José's back story, saying that his dad preferred the other brothers and made him work with the peones.
Rotten Esteban won't help Paula because he's pissed she rejected him again and again and then had the nerve to get pregnant by some cowboy.
We are treated to lots of chickens running around. It looked like Julieta might have killed some of them. Juan wonders what the heck is going on. Gaspar tells Lupe she should be in their room. So now she's confined to quarters? But she's driving me nuts. She KNOWS it's Julieta with the brujería, but she keeps quiet.
Maybe the black magic backfired. Julieta left the chickens to fend for themselves and shows up at her parents' house. She seems to be feeling bad, but maybe it's just a ruse. Because she wheedles some money out of them for the brujo, saying it's for expenses of chemo. Come on, people! They don't ask her why she doesn't get the money from her rich husband?
The crooked brujo wants more money than even that she got from her parents. He asks her to close her eyes and takes $$ from her wallet.
As was predicted, José shows up to whine to Beatriz about how nobody loves him. Beatriz buys the whole thing. Sigh.
Thanks everybody, I no longer watch this show, do manage to catch bits of it if I don't change the channel fast enough after Herederos.
My thinking on this novela, is of an old Hitchcock movie. I have always suspected Gonzo, I wonder if he and Javier are in on the deed and plan to drive Pilar crazy - straight out of Hitchcock. Other scenario I had since Pilar is some kind of psychosomething, maybe someone near and dear to Gonzo was Pilar's patient and it did not turn out well?
Herederos:
Please don't let me get kidnapped and have them as relatives, I mean did they forget there was a kidnapping???
Corazon
It was nice to see Lola dressed. My favorite on this show is Bigotes, I can't wait for her to give the doc his comeuppence, and I hope she's the one that does it. But can someone tell me if I heard wrong in the previews they made it sound like the doc was going to have a fatal heart attack? As for Debora, sorry but I can't take my eyes off her hips, I'm mesmerized. Last time I saw this actress she was so tiny, nice to see a normal person.
If Leonardo is really Adolfo, why does he keep his face twisted up that way when he's alone?
Also as to his disability, sometimes they leave the tray on a table and other times they feed him. If he CAN feed himself, why doesn't he do it all the time.
Carola never has a thought in her mind that doesn't come out of her mouth.
It had not occurred to me that Javier was faking. Well, it worked beautifully. Bug-eyes is now ridden with guilt and ready to stand for some more crappy treatment. She'll probably voluntarily give him her cell phone!
Eva seems ready to doom her daughter's marriage completely by sending her to Rome instead of to a marriage counselor. And Ignacia just goes along with it.
I also had the feeling that Gonzalo is not on the up and up. And why would he and stupid Pilar be embracing in the hospital waiting room after her husband has just tried to kill himself? (Not surprise that it was a ploy). Whoever thought that maybe javier and Gonzalo are in cahoots and trying to gaslight Pilar might really have something.
Re Leonardo...obviously he doesn't want anyone to know anything about him. We now know that he was in the hospital under the name of Ivan. Can it be he is related to Igor Mora. (Ivan and igor are slavic names, after all). That Teresa is no dummy, but she's going to get in real trouble.
I don't believe Ignacia is going
She and her father seem to have a sick relationship. Maybe that's why Eva is so keen on sending her away.
Hilda and Emilio: I get the feeling that emilio does care for Hilda. It will be interesting to see how that plays out.
With all it's flaws, I'm still interested...
Well, we were right about a few things. First of all, Teresa was in trouble. Just a bit too nice for the others in this novela, she got stabbed to death by someone (we didn't see who), just after retrieving "Ivan's" records from the clinic where he used to be.
And we've confirmed he can move! After suspicious Carola leaves him (even telling him Teresa was checking on him), "Leonardo" unclenches his hands, his jaw, his neck, and is normal. He has total movement. He calls someone, saying "we've got a problem", but we don't see who that is. I think Leo (who may be Adolfo) says we need to get "the proof". Could it be that HE is actually the HERO of this story, and is trying to prove someone killed his brother? So far, we don't know if he's good or bad.
Yolanda goes for a plastic surgery appointment. The guy wants mucho dinero for his "honorarios" (fees), and promises to make her 15 years younger. Right.
Hilda had confessed to Teresa that she was pregnant, but felt alone. Now that Teresa is dead, I guess that's true.
Nibaldo is taking English classes, wants to leave and see the world. Karen joins the class too, wants to go with him, but Nibaldo isn't so sure.
Rebeca discovers Javier's little fakery. Of course, instead of telling, she'd prefer that he forgive her for taking his job, and they'll work together (she's really playing every side, and something's bound to mess up for her. She can't be loyal to everyone).
Pilar wants to save her marriage, feeling sorry for poor Javier after his overdose (hah!), so she tells Gonzo it's over. He still won't quit, and gives her a present in a little box. A ring? No, keys to his apartment.
So, when Ignacia comes to Gonzo's apartment later, after her farewell dinner was a little too tense, she drops her coat, naked underneath. They decide to have farewell sex. Wouldn't you know, just at this moment, Pilar decides to use her key!!!!
Thanks, Hombre. I was on the fence about this show but last night's episode won me over again. I loved the way (some of) our suspicions were confirmed but in a way that was, nevertheless, shocking and dramatic, and way, way over the top. This show borrows unabashedly from the prop box of suspense/horror shlock:
--I loved watching "Leonardo A" morph into "Leonardo B". (And I'm intrigued by your speculation that HE may turn out to be the good guy here, or perhaps the less bad guy).
--Poor Teresa's predictable demise was straight out of a midnight slasher flick.
--And the cliché of naked dame under trench coat -- Hah!
I may be remembering wrong, but I thought I saw "Leonardo" talking to "Adolfo" on the phone. And it occurred to me that there might have been triplets -- Adolfo, Leo and Ivan -- and it was Ivan -- who really WAS impaired, who was killed.
Jean,
You never cease to impress me! Iceland, birds, timid Venezuelans -- enjoy! Travel safe and show us pictures when you get back.
That would be interesting if Adolfo, Leonardo and Ivan are triplets!! Nothing in this twisty plot would shock me.
I was thinking how Ignacia and Pilar don't really have that much dialogue that tells who they really are. The Ignacia actress is
a natural and real actress who plays her moments, and doesn't ham up the mystery of her character. The Pilar actress is at sea when she has to react --and does so by making faces. She is so lifeless and unreal and annoying, which is surprising because she was a good villain in PERRO AMOR.
I also don't get the Gonzalo character, who seems to have no real principles and plays it as it comes.
What a group!
Debora is her most insufferable self gloating over Lola about the fake pregnancy. She always pretends to be friendly toward Lola when she's sticking in the knives. However, she overplays her hand with Andrés, getting nasty about Lola pretending to be pregnant (!). When Rodrigo is comforting Lola she snarks that he's a better catch for her than Rugeles, awakening Andrés' contempt when what she needs is happiness about the fake pregnancy.
Marcelo finds out from Ramon about the pregnancy and shows up at Debora's house to needle her about his nieto/hijo. Looks like he's going to use this to get her to cooperate with him in trying to take over the company.
Daniel looks like he appreciates his brother, remembering how he saved him from bullies. They embrace.
While Lola is visiting Sole, Rugeles shows up and shows his fangs. He tells Lola she'll have to move Sole to the Rugeles House of Cameras unless she moves her body into his bed. She confronts him with his promise not to touch her, but obviously this doesn't guilt him a bit.
There's only one offer for the shares in Andrés' company, from Panama - obviously by Evil Bass Voice guy.
Dr. D cleared out his office, but made a major mistake. He left the disc with the recording of Pantoja having sex with an anesthetized patient!
Danny is attracted to Vero. She comes on big time to Andrés, coming up with the classic: "Your wife doesn't treat you well. I will." He coldly asks her if is or isn't his wife's best friend. And asks her to leave.
Rugeles is outrageous! He asks the weird maid to bring all the clothes he bought Lola to HIS closet and to put all her usual clothes in a bag. He thought bubbles that he'll burn them later.
Looks like Danny and Adela are an item again.
They treat us to some flashbacks of when Lola and Andrés made love for the first time, in a tent. Very, very sweet scene. These two are great together and I think the writers are throwing us bones with these flashbacks.
Medina confronts Rugeles with the fact that Pantoja confessed all the crooked things he was forced to do by Rugeles. Rugeles is impactado, but we don't see the outcome yet.
Two evil guys show up at the hospital asking for Soledad Volcán. Big surprise! The catatonia act is all over, and she's outside on a bench! She tells a nurse she needs to speak with Sofía right away.
They continue to jerk our chains by making us think someone will tell the truth. Sofía almost tells Juan Paula went to rescue Pablo/Emilio and Adela. But no. Julieta shows up and nasties her out of the house.
Efraín, of course, shows up for lunch when José is taking a nap in Beatriz's bed. He leaves in disgust. Modesto is similarly impacted and moves out of her house.
Juan confronts Julieta about all the chickens roaming around his house, but she denies it.
Paula gets an internet connection and tries to contact Juan. However, Julieta is looking at his computer, sees it's from Paula and stomps on the laptop.
We get another scene of laptop abuse later when Esteban figures out someone is getting an internet connection from his smart phone. Jose trashes the computer Adela and Paula were using.
The Low IQ sisters moan to each other about Nacho after seeing a newspaper story about the murdered girl. But do nothing, as usual.
José makes a booty call on Beatriz. She surprises me by resisting and asking him to leave.
Julieta catches Pedro coming on to Berta in the kitchen and gets extremely nasty. Apparently she doesn't like it that he's stopped worshipping her. He gets the best last word though, telling her he now understands why Juan never could fall in love with her.
All I can say is that I was shocked with the shooting last night. Totally unexpected.
CORAZON:
Another shock for me, what is this novelas actually growing up? I thought Medina was not going to make it out of that room alive. Was surprised when Rugeles called a ex-judge to find out what to do. Just felt like it was something different.
Nellie, I too was shocked that Jose got shot. Who knew those two henchmen were brothers? But I don't want Jose to die, he needs to be punished more!
At least there's one honest doctor, namely Medina. As for that retired judge counseling Dr. D. to take all his money out before his funds are frozen with the investigation, I wasn't too happy with the ethics of that.
I enjoyed Lola and Andres' parachute adventure.
That Veronica didn't waste any time coming on to Daniel, sliding her card in his pocket, pressing her hand. Adelita could see what was up, and refused to be used by Danny. Hopefully Danny will eventually see the light, that Adelita is more than just a cute "poor" girl to have fun with.
Soledad sort of got "cured", but it's obvious she still has major problems. Too bad she won't tell anyone what they are. Did anyone hear what she said when she read the card from those flowers? Did it say something like "Get well soon. Temerario?"
It APPEARS that Ignacia has fooled everyone, pretending to go to Italy, but being taken by her trusted Nibaldo to a secret apartment, only to jump back in the sack with Javier, who left the hospital although he was supposed to be almost in a coma.
It APPEARS that Carola, having failed at proving "Leonardo" had feelings by rubbing her half clothed body on him, and by throwing him out of his chair, has failed again, since when she stabbed his leg with a fork, he STILL didn't flinch.
It APPEARS that Gonzo is out of options, having lost both Pilar and Ignacia, and having to rent a seaside condo.
It APPEARS that Javier, mad at getting fired by Renato, will work against Renato, and HELP Igor Mora get revenge.
It APPEARS that Andrea's finding out that Emilio is going to be a father, and Pilar's finding Javier gone from his hospital bed, will be exciting revelations that will cause serious problems for the ones who were "found out".
But appearances are not always what they seem, are they?
I had more to post, but don't have time to do it until later.
But I wanted to answer your question, Hombre. The card said Mejórete pronto, Soledad. Tiberio. I'm pretty sure Tiberio is what Marcelo called the Evil Bass Voice guy over the phone when he told him he would take care of the problem of Andrés. So this looks like there's only one set of bad guys: the sex trade baddies and the ones who were after Soledad.
Hombre,
It APPEARS that you get better every day in tossing off these clever recapettes. Gracias!
I figured Ignacia had no intention of actually going to Rome but didn't see the tryst with Javier coming at all.
We've seen, at least in part, the seamy side of every major character but Pilar. I wonder what SHE has to hide... Of course in the case of Gonzalo, we only have vague suspicions.
The faux Leonardo is some tough cookie, huh?
Pedro continues to approach Berta, wanting to kiss her. He succeeds, but Modesto comes through a door and sees them kissing.
Sofía gets religion and breaks out some rosary beads to pray for her daughter. She should have owned up to Juan what was happening instead.
José shows up at La Arboleda absolutely without shame. He wants another vehicle and some money. They exchange punches. Then Juan goes right after him, getting him in a choke hold and telling him he doesn't consider him family any more.
Adela is not the bravest captive. Paula tries to convince one of the hired thugs to let them go because she is pregnant. Adela pooh-poohs the whole thing, until it works. The guy is offered twice the money that José had promised and agrees to let them go.
Juan is driving around looking for José, castigating himself for not believing Paula when she said José was behind the kidnapping.
José shows up at Beatriz' house and waits for her. When she arrives, the jerk says he has the right to have sex with her whenever he feels like it. He kidnaps her. But the two ranch hands standing there watching have walkie talkies and get a message to Juan.
Paula, Emilio, and Adela almost get away, but Emilio's movements are too slow, and Esteban returns. It looks like it will still work until the other thug shows up, surprising the decent thug so that Esteban can disarm him.
After a long disgusting ride in José's truck, where he keeps telling her to take her clothes off, Beatriz jumps out of the truck and rolls down into a slight ravine. Juan is right behind and helps her up.
Paula, Emilio, and Adela are back in that same room. Adela, still freaking out, says they're going to kill them all. Paula keeps trying to calm her.
Meanwhile, outside in the rest of the cabin, Esteban orders the meaner looking thug to shoot the other one. Inside where the captives are, they hear a shot and Adela really freaks out.
We next see what happened. The meaner looking thug shot José in the stomach! They fooled us because, before the shot, they hadn't shown José having arrived. The thug then tells Esteban he wouldn't shoot his brother for all the money in the world. Esteban is dumbfounded, having no idea of this relationship. José begs Esteban to help him. He lifts him up once, but then just runs for it.
Juan arrives, with Modesto, Efraín, and Beatriz. Beatriz holds José telling him she loves him, while poor Efraín looks on. José sort of apologizes to Juan. They call an ambulance, but things don't look good for José.
Juan goes into the back room, and Paula, Emilio and Juan embrace with happy smiles on their faces.
After their having met at the soccer field of their youth, Andrés talks Lola into spending the day with him. He makes her turn off her cell phone. Unfortunately, Soledad is asking for her daughter and the hospital can't reach her.
They have a great time skydiving.
Pantoja tells Medina about the things Rugeles involved him in, especially the false, short-time-to-live diagnosis he came up with to keep Lola there.
Somehow Soledad is back in her bed, after having been outside. Kind of weird disconnect because they're acting like she can't walk well. She wakes up kind of snarky, demanding Lola and rejecting Rodrigo who just happens to be there. I think Lola deserves a better mother than Soledad.
Dr. Medina tells Rugeles he'll be reviewing paperwork because of the underhanded things he's done with Pantoja. Pantoja is hauled off by the cops. It appears Rugeles has been cheating Medicare or something like that, because he meets with a judge and the word "Social Security" is part of the conversation. The retired judge tells him that a lot of times people get away with it. But, if they get caught, their accounts are frozen and they go to jail. He advises him to clear out his bank accounts.
Daniel and Adela are having a nice sushi lunch, where the chopsticks defeat her, when Vero and Andrés's computer whiz guy also show up. Vero's eyes light up when she hears he's the brother and she goes right after him under Adela's nose.
Etelfina confronts Diogenes about the briefcase full of money. He orders her to leave. She refuses and brings out her trump card: that she'll tell Lola about the cameras that have been invading her privacy. He starts to choke her and then appears to have a real heart problem, collapsing and asking for his pills.
Vicki warns Debora about Veronica. Plus she tells Deb she can't be angry about Andrés being MIA. She has to be the sweet, pregnant wife.
Soledad has disappeared from her room, and Lola is stricken with guilt. They find her in a storeroom talking to a rolled up towel. She's back to not recognizing anyone.
De nada, Jean. Most of the people here seem indifferent to Los Herederos, and it IS a turkey. But, when I have time, I try to post something. Maybe there are lurkers who are interested.
Soledad is well enough that she'd persuaded Sofia to discharge her, and will now live with Lola in Dr. D's house (I just noticed, the initials of his name, Diogenes Rugeles, are D.R., so he's Dr. DR). Pepe is also home to his and Adelita's trailer. Both he and she are depressed, he for his paralyzed legs (they said he can get better, but he can't afford the physical therapy), and she for the Veronica/Daniel thing.
Debora and Vicky have organized a baby shower to rub Lola's nose in the dirt a bit more, and Lola refuses to go, so Debora and Vicky set up the shower at Dr. D's house, forcing Lola to attend.
Now for the fashion report: There were several more outfit changes (2 each for most of the female characters). Each character changes every day, but the outfits are all within a certain "look".
Lola just about always wears jeans, but they can be short, below the knee, or long. Her tops either reveal all or half of her tummy, and usually part of her bra, which is usually red.
Adelita dresses like an eight year old. She wears shorts, or little skirts, and layers on the top. Yesterday she had an orange playsuit, later switched to an outfit a doll would wear (she is a doll to me :)
Veronica always shows off her legs, either with a short skirt, and hot pants, or below the knee pants, but always with high heels. Yesterday she also showed the rest of her figure with a bikini that turned a few heads.
Vicki looks very good as a cougar, usually wearing short but tasteful dresses of fine material, and lots of jewelry.
Debora often layers the tops with a three quarter length sweater over a leotard, and a skirt either just above or below the knees. Since she's not quite as skinny as the other gals, they have to choose her outfits carefully, and they're doing a great job.
Everyone wears very colorful outfits, and they always contrast each other, so that if you see Debora, Vicki and Veronica together, they might be wearing red, yellow and blue.
I also like both Vicki and Debora's hairstyles. Debora's bangs are perfect for her pouty faces.
BTW, I really know nothing about fashion, but as a man who appreciates beauty, I sometimes notice these things.
How many times are they going to show "Leonardo" walking around and it's someone's dream, or Carola's hallucination? That's why I thought she didn't really stab Leo with the fork, but apparently she did. Renato gets the message that Leo might be trouble, and orders Rebeca to move him out of the house (maybe to the same place where Igor Mora is).
Pilar has finally given in to her urges. Damn the marriage, full steam ahead. She catches Nibaldo telling someone (we know it was Ignacia) on the phone that he's tailed Gonzalo to his condo by the sea, and forces him to give her the address. He also gives Ignacia the address, and Pilar trusts her sister Rebeca with it. Big mistake, as she immediately gives it to Javier.
So when Pilar surprises Gonzalo, and they finally let loose with some afternoon delight, Javier is not far behind. Caray!
Emilio and Hilda's little secret also comes out to various people (I think Rebeca, Andrea and Yolanda know so far).
Rebeca discovers that someone's been stealing money from Renato's accounts. Renato suspects Javier (but doesn't tell Rebeca), and says he'll handle it.
But the whole Leonardo/Adolfo/Ivan thing is a big mystery. Carola's idea to get Teresa's notebook didn't help, since the killer took everything Teresa had on her. Drat.
I keep flipping back and forth as to who's good and who's bad, and who's scheming against whom. There are also lots of red herrings, which isn't surprising with all the "fishy" things going on :)
José is NOT dead. Beatriz is, predictably, by his side in the hospital room. He begs her pardon for all the humiliations. Sorry, I'm not buying that a shot in the stomach reforms this guy. He does say he feels like he'll die, but Bea insists he'll be fine, and the three of them will be together.
The doctor doesn't offer much hope. Gaspar is now remembering his favorite brother and won't accept that he'll die. Juan says they have to remain united, his refrain through this whole mess.
The brujo is doing his favorite trick of having a woman he's "helping" close her eyes while he takes the money from her wallet. Julieta shows up in a towering rage with some kind of stick in her hand. She calls him a cheat and says he'll give her back her money or she'll crack his head wide open. Now this I enjoy!
Beatriz brings Simón to see his papá, to watch him writhing on the bed in agony. Smart, Bea! The kid who's expressed zero emotion to this point in the novela looks like he's going to cry, trembling chin, eyes welling up. Cripes! It looks like they scared the poor mite half to death with the overacting.
Efraín is drinking at El Gavilán and tells Eleuterio and Amador that he's finally given up on Beatriz.
Sofía enters Emilio's room with some of his favorite champagne, trying to get back in his good graces. He isn't buying it at all.
Modesto confronts Berta about her kissing Pablo. She fires back: "Why not, since he said they were only friends." Translation, you wouldn't ask me to marry you and make a commitment, so why shouldn't I kiss Pablo. Modesto says he WILL make a commitment.
Crazy Julieta is again with her mother. She asks her to help her be operated on to remove the tumor, but in a way so that no one will know, not Juan, and especially not Paula. What insanity! This doesn't seem to faze Rosa at all.
Guadalupe and Beatriz are talking. Bea goes on and on about José's change toward her and how the three of them are going to live happily ever after. Lupe coldly says that José only said that because he was dying.
All the Del Monte's except José are sitting around the table, waiting for a big speech from Emilio, who everyone except Paula and Juan think is Pablo.
Of course, we don't get this big revelation because they want us to wait one more day. In various degrees of anger, the three other Del Montes express their resentment that Pablo is wearing Emilio's suit and sitting at the head of the table.
i thought you guys might find this cute; my husband wants to learn spanish. he covers cycling, which is so international, and he tried to learn italian but now regrets that that's too specific and spanish would have been better. i made him watch alborado and pointed all the cognates. he agreed, he could learn spanish watching tns, but he said he just couldn't care less about the plot or whatever. (too bad perla wasn't on much!)
anyway, long story short, i went surfing the cable channels for something that a man might like to watch-- tonight at 7 on telemundo "Nacho Libre"!! i can't wait. yeah, it was a horrible movie, i watched it twice just to make sure :) i love jack black. i hope his dub actor does a good job with the funny voices.
