Triunfo del Amor #138-139 6/2/11 A triumph of my not throwing things at the screen, even though I really, really wanted to

Yep, Max, that asshat, really did suggest that Maria D marry Alonso, basically as a repayment for everything he's done for "them" (taking care of MD when she wanted to run off, etc.) So…pimping out the woman you claim to love? Gee, Max, that's classy.

Alonso is popping pills to deal with his headaches.

Vic admits to the crew that she's been battling cancer. Pip weeps and they all freak out. Then she tells them she's fine. And she's ready to resume her workaholic ways. Hugs all around. Dr. Cesar shows up to applaud Vic. Why?

Maria D isn't sure if she should allow herself to be pimped out. Max suggests they go ask Dr. Cesar, aka, the only doctor in all of the DF [who is willing to put up with this highly dysfunctional family] if Alonso's like, really, really, really dying or what. Cause if he's only mostly dying, we should shake him down for loose change. Pfft. Apparently the idea of Alonso dying, or maybe of MD marrying Alonso, makes Maria D and Max really, really hot for each other, and they suck face like we're about to get a free show.

Pip is ready to party! Dr. Cesar will join the Nueva Casa Victoria crew for dinner.

Os gives the AA group and Leonela a pep talk about recognizing their strengths and getting through one day at a time. The group applauds.

Padres Jer and JP convo about how Vic and MD are being kept apart by Burnie's hate. Because it's easier to do that than blame themselves. Burnie possibly overhears the conversation from her pew.

Max and Maria D totally did it. Creeps. Max gets a call from "Catalina" and says he's on his way over. It's his PI, with possible news about MD's mom. She doesn't go with him so she'll have extra time to formulate questions for the doc about Alonso. Start by having him run an MRI to make sure you still have a brain inside your skull. Just a suggestion.

Napo gives Milagros a medal of the Virgen de Guadalupe for Mothers' Day. She pouts that JuanJo forgot all about her on this day. Of course he didn't! He brought her a big basket of flowers and mariachis to sing Las Mañanitas (**shameless plug** you can hear my version at http://yourlisten.com/channel/content/93969/Las_Ma%C3%B1anitas /shameless plug).

Padre Jer interrupts Chente asking PJP about Tomasa. Chente is done asking Burnie. He's ready to let the cops take care of it. Padre Jer feels faint.

The cops find Alacran's corpse.

Maria D tells Burnie for the millionth time to get the hell out of her house. She's a lousy grandma and it's too late now cause Maria D knows she's a crazy lying bat. Burnie asks for forgiveness. Well, MD has whiplash from all of Burnie's about-faces. Burnie gets pissed at being compared to Vic and denies any relationship between Vic and MD. She crazies about being afraid of losing PJP and blaming MD. *sigh* What is she playing at? I can't keep up with the crazy wheels turning in her crazy head. And enough with the kneeling already! MD is just too hurt. Burnie vows to let her actions speak for her and asks for just one chance. After the commercial break, she caves. I think it was that Univision Card commercial. See above re: MRI of missing brain. Burnie vows again to be like a mother to MD. They hug. Barf!

Padre Jer downplays his freak out. PJP tells Chente to go to the cops and what has to happen will happen. Chente thinks PJP's tone indicates that he suspects something bad will happen. Padre Jer figures Burnie will have to come clean now and suggests they leave this all in God's hands.

A couple of guys bring in a big present for Milagros, covered in a Chivas flag. It's a big-screen covered in the Club America flag.

The Nueva Casa Victoria Crew + Dr. Cesar have drinks. Pip moves enough out of the way to let Dr. Cesar see Os and Leo. Dr. Cesar goes over to ask the two of them to come join the table celebrating Vic's having beaten the cancer. Os is kind of pissed she didn't tell him there was a party, but Vic says they're adding chairs to the table. Leo begs off, saying she just came from an AA meeting. Os opts to escort Leo home. Dr. Cesar thinks Os will come back after. They go back to the table. Ximena saw the whole thing and leaves her potential sugar daddy to call Gui and fill him in.

Max meets the PI, who tells him it's complicated. Max's "sister" may have died in a fire. The place where she lived burned down and a girl disappeared. What?

Gui has time to come down to the restaurant and see the Nueva Casa Victoria crew at the table.

El Profe tries to bring Mili flowers. Napo tries to keep him out. Mili lets him in. El Profe tells Napo that Mili has agreed to marry him.

Gui is pissed at Leo for apparently leaving him for Os…twice! Xi wants to start fresh with a relationship with Gui, just as accomplices. Xi wants to take the baby away from Max and make the Sandovals suffer.

El Profe's mom has given her blessing and will be coming to visit soon. Mili says she can't leave JuanJo and Nathy to live by themselves, so she can't get hitched yet. Plus, she's too young ("pollita" a little chick).

Os and Vic hang out at the house. Os didn't know about the dinner because he was at the AA meeting and his cell was turned off. Os and Vic break their respective arms patting their respective backs over how reasonable and positive and not-killing-each-other they're being right now. And then the jealousy creeps in amid all the big smiles. Oh, but really it's all ok. Vic still hopes to find her pequeña Maria (drink!).

Dr. Cesar knows life has to go on, but he sucks at actually getting to the "going on" part. He's feeling attracted to Vic, but she's married. And a mom. And a grandma. He decides not to think of her.

Leo wonders how happy Os and Vic really are, especially given Os' cheating. She thinks only Os can save her from the abyss. The maid/nanny overhears.

Os and Vic dance. Max comes in to tell them…but he's interrupted by Vic's news. Max and Os both admit they were talking to the doctors behind her back. Max tells them that Vic's daughter is probably dead. Dumb. Ass. Vic cries. He repeats the PI's bizarre explanation. Os still has a brain and says that's way to sketchy to draw a conclusion, but Vic is too upset. Os takes Max back to the office to beat him about the head for being so stupid. No, he doesn't. He just tells Max they'll respect Vic's wishes not to say anything. If Vic doesn't calm down, Os will call Toni. Max apologizes and says it wasn't his intention to upset her. Normally, I say I like 'em cute and dumb, but this is the kind of stupidity that gets warning labels put on hair dryers.

Fer looks at a baby magazine and is busted by Cruz. Snogging ensues. She shows him the cute babies in the magazine (here's a hint, Fer: you can't pick the one you want from a picture in the magazine and get the exact same one). Cruz thinks it means she's pregnant, but they are interrupted by one of the Jarochas and he has to run off.

Vic cries over the doll. Hey, maybe they should MRI her skull too…maybe the missing brain runs in the family! Toni refuses to believe it. That "Maria" is dead, not that Vic is brainless. I can't listen to the rest of this. FF>>

The Maria in question thinks about her earlier convo with Crazy Grandma.

Vic cries some more. FF>>

Max and Maria go to CRIT. They find out the doc's family, as seen in the prominently displayed photo, are all dead. Doc Cesar asks them if they're sure whoring is the solution here.

Chente goes to the cops and reports Tomasa as missing. The cop's ears perk up when he hears Burnie's name, since they just found Alacran's body. They know Alacran was working for Burnie.

Cruz takes a phone call in the patio. He doesn't want to tell the Jarochas what the call was about, but he pays them a peso for the call, since he'd rather not pay the "beso" they're asking for.

Max and Maria defend their dumbass decision to Doc Cesar. Doc thinks Alonso only has 3 weeks to live. He doesn't like Maria sacrificing herself out of pity. Max reassures him that it's not pity, it's gratitude. They tell Doc about Nathy and he turns out to be her thesis advisor. They get back on track. Maria says they really owe Alonso a lot for helping her hide her pregnancy from Max. Max says that Alonso also brought their son back to them. And everyone knows the fee for both those things is Maria herself. You couldn't just give him a goat or a big wad of cash or something? The doc gives them some pills for his symptoms and says they'll have to find a way to get him to take the pills without finding out he's sick.

The cop goes to tell Burnie they're now investigating Alacran's death and Tomasa's disappearance. Burnie opines that Alacran had it coming and Tomasa ran off because Vic gave her a big wad of cash. The cop says they'll be coming back frequently until both matters are resolved. He hesitates before leaving, but walks out.

Televisa called Cruz, but he won't tell Fer what for until she answers his question. Fer tells the truth and gets kicked out of the Sandoval family for it. Well, Cruz doesn't know why Televisa called him. Fer is excited, thinking that it's about his album. Cruz goes to find out, stopping to reproach the neighborhood ladies for gossiping. They continue gossiping. FF>>

Eva is worried the cops will be back. Burnie wants to do something about it, but she needs Eva's help.

Fausto interrupts PJP's praying and asks to talk to him. Fausto knows all--that Maria is PJP's daughter. He tells him not to worry, the truth will out, and MD and Vic will find out about each other when it's time. Fausto asks if PJP thinks it's possible for him to become a priest, what with all his sins. Including having helped dispose of a body. PJP says if he truly repents, PJP will plead his case before the bishop.

Eva calls the cops and anonymously accuses Padilla of murdering Alacran. Burnie thinks it proves her loyalty.

Mili teaches Fer how to cook something. FF>>

They want Cruz to do a show, starting tonight. He accepts and his album producer comes over to feel him up.

Fer learns to cook FF>>

Eva gets to sip some sherry. Burnie also hands her a big wad of cash, partly in thanks and partly as an advance on future misdeeds.

Padilla is planning to get the hell out of Dodge tomorrow. Yes, never do today the escaping from the law you could do tomorrow. Burnie calls to summon him to the Pit. Padilla figures he can make a few extra bucks before he leaves.

Maria D goes to see Alonso, who should be highly suspicious, but he's too hard up for that. MD accepts the commercial job and starts laying groundwork, saying she doesn't think she and Max will ever get married. Alonso offers her a drink and he goes to get some while she switches out his pills. They chat about the baby. MD gives him a hug that makes him slightly suspicious and then she leaves. He immediately gets another sharp pain through the head and takes his new pills.

Fer has set the table for Cruz and he comes home, but he doesn't have time to stop for dinner--he needs to sing for a program tonight. Fer gives him her blessing. He grabs a tortilla and a little of whatever's in the pot and runs back out. Fer is excited that he's going to be on TV, but she's a little sad that all he did was grab a taco.

Tomorrow is Nathy and JuanJo's wedding. FF>>

Burnie gives Padilla a job and an envelope. She wants no trace left and says if they hang, they'll hang together. She orders him to get the rest Alacran's remains. Once he leaves, Eva calls the cops to tell them the murderer is going to the scene of the crime. Eva thought bubbles that Burnie will get hers.

Os visits Leo. He gets all flustered and can't talk. Leo offers to help him the way he's helped her and brings up the good old days.

Pip gets a late-night visit from Mili, in her pj's? She helps herself to a martini and burps. She says she thought it was water and then helps herself to his olive. That's not a euphemism. She tells him tomorrow is Nathy and JuanJo's wedding and the whole Nueva Casa Victoria crew are invited. Pip, I think, says he's going to wear an outfit that will outshine even the bride. She asks about her dress and he says it's both really awesome and really free. Then he offers her another drink.

Os and Leo finish their gab session and Gui catches them saying their goodbye's. He's pissed that Gui is there and accuses Leo of being up to her old tricks. Os leaves and Leo is pissed at Gui. Gui screams back at her and asks how she could do "this" to him, and with the man he hates most in the world. He asks what happened to her desire for vengeance. "You're not in love with him again, are you?"

Vic cries, Doc Cesar comes over, she tells him her daughter is dead.

Sweet William Levy in a Kayak, but these people are stupid!

Tomorrow: Nathy gets married; Burnie gets accused of murder on Padilla's word; Osvaldo gets taken away from the Sandovals and given back to Xi; Max tells Alonso he's not going to give him a chance to take Maria away from him; Maria tells Vic that PJP is her Bio Dad, or so we're led to believe.

'night, all. I'm told there will be YouTube footage of my shaking my groove thang after we learned our choreography Tuesday night. I'll post it when I've got it. Besos!

And, yeah, the show...I can't wait till it's over! Thanks for hanging in there with me!

Clarification: I mean THIS hot mess of a show is the one I can't wait to be done with, not the show I'm acting in, which is going to be amazing and wonderful and I wish you could all see it! And which I don't want to be over yet, because I still have both lines and guitar chords to memorize!

I wonder whether Victoria will jump to the conclusion that Padre Hottie had another booty call back in the day. Is this when she sees the Magic Crucifix in Maria's apartment?

At any rate, 1,000 pesos says she doesn't admit to being Maria's mother.

Leonela can't be redeemed if she is helping Ximeana. And if she wants to stay alive she should fly, not run, as far away from Gui yesterday. He got really scary last night.

She is obviously not strong enough if she attributes Dr Voice and Os with the power to cure her.

Why did PJP -- and Cruz -- stop shaving???

Applause for the detective who is doubting Dona Dementa. This case calls for a Mexican Columbo: "Perdoname, Senora; solamente unas preguntas mas..."

Did someone go missing from the fire in Maria's previous building?

Ximeana is going to be very disappointed when she tries to start more marital trouble between Osvaldo and Victoria.

Finally, does anyone else see a major resemblance between Mark Tacher and the young Christopher Lambert?

Word verification: dergool. I think the second syllable describes Dona Dementa perfectly.

Kat, you are adorable. I've had to abandon this show because I've actually got some real (as in paid, gracias a dios) work and obviously something had to give. But I just checked in to your recap and got caught up. You are one funny lady. I'm not even tempted to watch anymore, it's too painful, but I'll read the recaps. What a team—you, Sara, NvMv and Jardinerita—have really made this disaster into a cultural phenomenon. Thank you all.

Kat - Thank you for the recap! Very snarky, and "spot on." I love the idea of MRIing María for a brain. Perhaps the can get a group rate for the entire cast of characters.

So now Dr. Voice is Nathi's PhD advisor? QTH? The guy is everywhere, like our 13-year cicadas right now. Gah.

Thank you for the recap. I missed the first 40 minutes and must have slept through some of the rest, but this catches me up.
If they are heading for a break-through in the story line about Vic and Maria finding out the truth, that will be when I stop watching. I was waiting for that to play out. I cannot stand to watch the story lines of Oz and Leonella, Dr. H and Vic, and Maria and Alfonso.
I started watching to help my Spanish. My time would be better spent with Rosetta Stone.
Why isn't Max tan, since we have had far too many nights of this show watching him in the kayak? He may have abs, but he is one pasty guy.

Thanks, Kat. This is another hilarious jewel. My favorite line:

"Normally, I say I like 'em cute and dumb, but this is the kind of stupidity that gets warning labels put on hair dryers."

Today's comment should be great... there is so much wrong going on here.

I've not cared for Max since this thing began, so let me begin with him.

He decides not to tell Alonzo, who is for certain dying of a deadly disease, to spare his feelings...

He tells Vicky that her kid is dead based on the flimsiest of evidence... I guess less concerned about her feelings...

He's not only an idiot... he's an inconsistent idiot.

Without even meeting Alonzo, Dr. Voice gives Maria pills to somehow slip to him... lawyers have a word for this...

So many people know so much that it seems like any two characters could compare what they know and come up with the answer without even using a quadratic equation.

Carlos

By the way, I don't know how good this information is, but the DirecTV schedule (which has been pretty reliable) shows 2 hrs. tonight and then no more TdA until another 2 hr. episode next Fri.

Carlos

Ay de mi. Otra vez, basura.

FiveFt--you had to get deep into it just for us, thank you. Love the reference to the hair dryer warning labels. You came up with some good ones by taking your frustrations out in words.

This is all so insane I'm going to believe that Maria has just gotten pregnant again (why else show them getting dressed coming out of the bedroom).

Max will either believe it is Alonso's last minute ditty dance and hit the roof because Maria gave him todo (like he asked) or he will be all agradecido to have this legacy from his wonderful savior.

He'll name the baby either Alonsito or Alonsita. (Maria has no say in the matter.)
Bah Humbug/NOK

Creo que "TdA" has become "Td-Um". but I lo-o-o-ve the comments

Kat (5ft Latina), you had me laughing some hard, I just love your recap. You are so ready on!

True, true, true, the characters are just getting dumb and more stupid.

I can't believe what Max said to Maria, his beloved - real love - to marry Alonso for all he has done for them as a repayment. Max, is she supposed to sleep with him also after she marries him. Max, remember after the wedding, there is a honeymoon. I think Alonso will definitely want to make love with his new wife, Maria if marries her, for he is so in love with her. REAL STUPID - MAX - I think you don't have brain sometimes and only look handsome.

Remember, People, it is the writers that are writing this up - this crap of a story. Was the orginial story that this is basic on it and rewritten like this or not?

I will look forward to the wedding that schedule for tonight. I like Nathy. I wonder how she will look. Also is this the night that Victoria finds out that Maria is her REAL lost daughter. If it is, she will have eat crow and beg for forgiveness to Maria.

Why aren't the people telling Alonso about his condition - I think he doesn't know that he is dying? He has a right to know. Why are they switching his pills? this is so stupid. People tell the poor man. Let him decide what he wants to do with the rest of his remainingt life.

Just love your writing, Kat. Keep up the good work.

I am grateful that there is a forum such as this where we can desahogarnos and address substantive issues in the novela. The recaps are better than the show.

To 5ft Latina; I did some research on sharks and found that their sense of smell is quite acute. Therefore your reference to the nose as being 'sharkier' is indeed appropriate.

To Carlos; I totally agree with you about Max being an overrated character. Just the fact that he married Ximena because she was supposedly pregnant and abandoned Maria when she was pregnant, is justification for disdain.

I am excited about the investigation of Bernarda. I've been wondering what will become of Tomasa's death. Remember that she was brutally killed with a poker, requiring a level of ruthlessness most people lack. I hope the police are astute and tenacious. It would be a departure from the rest of the community. Perhaps a 'Colombo' like investigation style will yield satisfactory results.

This show is a guilty pleasure. Part of the appeal is the schmaltz and the fact that they paint morality with such broad bush strokes. Ocasionally, they push things too far and then we can address those issues here.

5ft, so funny, you have a lot to make fun of.

I switched to Alborada at 10 & only missed more estupidez.

The last I remember of Osvaldo & Leonela was Victoria slapping her & Osvaldo throwing her out of the house. How did they get to be amigos again?

The most needy of a brain MRI is Mejia.

The oncologist, orthopedist, expert on Asian diseases is at Victoria's celebration & Osvaldo isn't????????

There is only 1 restaurant in all DF & Guillermo lives next door????

Now it looks like Chente is the only one with a brain, he actually called the police.

Variop--Victoria claims he had been invited by phone (it was a last minute thing), but he had his cell phone turned off. He checked his messages and she was telling the truth--so they were ok with that.

To Dr. Her-Hermoso, we now have to add thesis advisor--or was that a chiste?

UA--Vic rejecting MD. I don't think we're getting that satisfaction tonight. How much is 1000 pesos in USD anyway?

Even Max doesn't look like eye-candy anymore. I only get my kicks out of the kayak scene. Ok, I'm really done now.
NOK

When my Peruvian husband was diagnosed with cancer a few years back, my MIL instructed me that I was NOT to tell him if the doctor said that he would die.

My MIL had little education, and came from a small town in Peru. My MIL and the rest of the extended family felt that was the right thing. My husband's illness and care caused many hard feelings on the part of everyone as our ideas of how to best care for him differed dramatically. So while this part of the novela may seem far-fetched, it actually seems perfectly normal to me.

BTW, when my husband died, the point of contention was gone. I actually have a very good relation with my in-laws now, but it was hard won.

So, does Maria have to marry Fausto after Alonso kicks the bucket since he saved max and os jr., and maria,

This show has really hit a new low or i need a new beanie.

Loved the recap.

I'm so glad i don't have the habit of slamming my head with the palm of my hand like Bernie does with stupidity, or after last night i'd be black and blue.

Where to start? Oh Max the pimp who is not only terminally stupid he is insensitive. Going to Os and Vic and while they are celebrating her good new callously blurts out that her daughter is probably dead.

Once the news was out and Vic had her predictable reaction why didn't Os who knows that PJP is the father of her child go to the priest, rather than his lush ex, and tell him. Surely as a father himself he would feel the other man should be told the facts (as related from his own moronic spawn). And for that matter when Toni who also knows found Vic in such a state why didn't she also call PJP instead of just standing around wringing her hands.

Oh and Maria of the tilted head takes the pills to Alonso and switches them behind his back. How smashingly clever of her and how nice that the labels are the same. Did no one consider that his OTC bottle would not be the same and that he might have been down to the last few when she gave him a full bottle. i guess they are all so stupid they figure Al is as well.

I can't believe that with a head so full of air she can't hold her head straight. You'd think that it would be like a balloon and be drawn upward.

Bernie's days may be numbered with an actual cop and a smart one on the scent.

Did get a laugh over Mili downing that martini like water.

Am having nightmares about another honeymoon bubble bath or bed strewn with roses.

So the previews give us another tease with Maria, while holding the cross, telling Vic about bio PJP. I'm on the 1000 peso bet that Vic won't believe it. Truth be told after PJP's denial and Max's news it would be understandably if unfortunately predictable.

Carlos I checked my cable as well and we get one hour on Monday then a bunch of junk the rest of the week. WTH are they doing to us? At least the recappers will get a break.

Anita,
Sorry for your painful memories, but I'm sure you have many good ones.

At least in your case it was a decision by family, not by the doctor & acquaintances. And it doesn't look like anyone has notified Alonso's family. Wonder if they will be invited to the pity boda?

I would really be PO'ed if everyone knew I was going to die but me. That seems to me a very basic right.

If we get "romantic" scenes of Nati's and Juanjo's honeymoon I might barf. No Juanjo in the bubble bath, please. I don't care if Televisa got a bargain price on a tanker truck of Señor Burbuja.

I really enjoy watching this train wreck. It's like the world championships of stupidity, with records broken every day.

But I enjoy the recaps infinitely more. Stupendous job as always, Kat. "Normally, I say I like 'em cute and dumb, but this is the kind of stupidity that gets warning labels put on hair dryers." That is a gem. So true. Maybe the show will end with Max and Maria in their romantic honeymoon bubble bath, and they'll decide to dry their pretty, pretty hair, and zzzzzzzt. JPito and Osguito get adopted by some parents with some grey matter in their heads and live happily ever after.

"I really enjoy watching this train wreck. It's like the world championships of stupidity, with records broken every day."

ROFL--Yes! Exactly, Julia!

The smartest -- and most hygienic -- scene last night -- Millie shows newlywed Fer how to disinfect the lettuce. Maybe it was a sort of atonement for all those dirty bubblebath scenes lately.

5ft fabulous recap could not stop LOL too many great lines in this one that have already been bought by others here. Thank you.

So Maria is actually going along with being pimped out huh?

Does Mexico have a award show for the worst TV programs for the year? Like the Razzies in the U.S.? If so i nominate this mess right here and challenge anyone to give a show to top this one in outright stupidity.

Just when we thought it was safe to turn back on and watch this mess we gets this?

Shouldn't JuanJo be attending those AA meetings next to Leonela?

Interesting article about WL. I think he would be perfect for this part which Paul Newman played

http://www.peopleenespanol.com/pespanol/articles/0,22490,2075656,00.html?xid=rss-news&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+pespanol%2Fheadlines+%28PeopleE

Anon207, por supuesto! We haven't heard a thing about JuanJo's drinking problem in weeks. Of course, we haven't missed it either.

I don't think that Victoria will deny Maria; I think she will just say nothing revelatory either out of guilt or shock. My only question then will be whom she will talk to first: Antonieta, PJP, Osvaldo, Dr Voice, Max, or Fer.

BTW, 1000 Mexican pesos = $86.77 US. Five minutes ago, anyway.

I know the writers are giving the performers this slock, but I almost thought I saw WL trying to suppress laughter or a smile while delivering the reasoning to Maria why she should marry Alonso. I'm betting for most of these actors they were wondering at this point what the heck they had signed up for and if their careers were not totally tanked for appearring on this thing.

5ft. - I can't even begin to mention all the fanatastic comments you inserted into this recap. I was laughing all the way thru - a perfect example of the recap being MUCH better than the episodes themselves.

Think I'll give it a pass tonight, cannot watch the Nati/JJ wedding. Might fast forward on the weekend to see if anything the least bit interesting really happens. guessing not.

What if maria and alonso marry and he is miraculously cured. Max andd maria would be up the creek without a paddle. While married though I would think she will do what all novelas do. She will find reasons at the last minute on why they can't make love. Finally he dies and she is still chast. Regarding abandonment. Max did not abandon her. She set herself up for this by not telling him she is pregnant. XI did and she got the ring.

I just needed to let you guys know why is Gordo Y Flaca right now replaying the Gui and Loonie bathtub scene this is what is called time to turn your TV to another channel asap.Seeing this disgusting scene was enough and i could barely manged to get through it at all.

They are interviewing Loonie right now on Gordo Y Flaca.

Recommendation to Univision you need to hire all new marketing people and know what your audience likes and wants to see instead of having the reporters lying and slanting stories that your novelas are doing so well. While you at hire a new head of who determines what novelas are produced and directed by. Hire some new creative writers to give some fresh stories. If you can't do that then i recommend what Telemundo does is take stories from another country and rewrite with a new spin on them.

Blu- But TDA IS doing well in the US. So there's an audience for it watching Gordo/Flaca (a US show). I'm not sure how they kept straight faces during interviews on Mexican talk shows. Surely, on those Mexican shows the hosts mentioned how badly the show was doing in ratings (even with artificially inflated figures).

My two defenses on Max's behalf (and the ONLY ones I shall have to offer for the eejit) are these:

1) Max 'abandoned' Maria to marry Ximena, but Maria never (ever) told him she was pregnant, and she had lots of opportunities.

2) Alonso had the test results and DID NOT open the envelope. He does not want to know.

Anon207 - yes, JuanJo should be going to AA. They conveniently forgot that storyline. (rolls eyes)

I see another break-up coming between Vic & Os, all over their recent pairings with Dr. Voice and Leonela. It's too soon yet for them to live happily ever after.

"Normally, I say I like 'em cute and dumb, but this is the kind of stupidity that gets warning labels put on hair dryers."
This belongs on the main page sidebar.

Funny thing is that most of these actors have previously been on Meh-jía telenovelas. (repeat offenders)
I think they KNOW what they're getting into, they all have bills to pay.

Wouldn't it be fun if:

Leonela ends up with Ozzy

Vicky pairs with Dr. Voice

Maria marries Alonzo and...
he comes home and announces...
"Tenura, dangdest thing... they got my test mixed up with some other guy's, poor bastard is gonna die.. turns out that I have bad a bad allergy to photographic chemicals... Oh by the way, he gave me a prescription for Viagra ... let's parteee."

FIN

Carlos

Carlos - LOL!

Great post. I was laughing all day.

I knew when the doctor came on he would be the only doctor in the world. But I have to say I welcome his extra bit of energy. I don't mind seeing cesar in every scene.

Maria marrying Alonso, I think all of you guys knew that, there were so many statements about why Max and Maria didn''t do the deed. I think everyone in this forum knew that was going to happen. I am sure since Maria is considered the good girl, Alonso will probably drop dead at the altar, reception,, limo, airplane before he gets Maria into the marital bed.

I loved William Levy, I was not a fan of his, but in the beginning he had me hook line and sinker, but the last two nights, I felt hee was auditioning for a walking dead movie.

On to tonight and the continuation of this 1960 novela, I expect to see all the women barefoot and pregnant next.

The best thing about this, is this forum.

I really don't get this.

Fri - TDA at 9PM for 1 hr.

With 4 nights of no TDA, I would think they would think they would loose the audience.

lose

Vivi i am still shocked how TDA is doing so well over here maybe it's because of William Levy and Maite(head tilt) Perroni they do have their audience and i have to admit it's the reason why i am trying to stick it out to the bitter end. I will say this is a one time deal when they show reruns of this i will avoid it like the plaque.

Wow that's just a crazy schedule didn't someone mention that TDA was going to be two hours for next Friday?

Anyway it seems that Univision is over confident by going with this schedule. Or maybe they are trying to really promote Teresa because once TDA is done that will be their leading novela.

Great title !

I don't think any of the listings we're seeing are correct. TV Guide's website is showing Teresa from 8-10 and TdA from 10-11 all next week. My cable guide shows no TdA on Monday or Tuesday, but doesn't go beyond that.

Unless they're moving this one to another time slot. I hate this.

If I worked for any of these networks I'd be fighting to not only stabilize the schedules but to stick to programs beginning and ending at the top of the hour.

The TV guides are probably as confused as we are & who knows, there may be more changes.

I love the Fer/Cruz story and wish they'd blow it up 100 times bigger. But Fer needs to lose the jean jacket and go back to her heiress chic look of earlier episodes. Just because she's married to Cruz doesn't mean she needs to lose her identity. There were some good things about her before: her independence, her ambition (remember her design sketches?) I hope she aims higher than making salad and doing dishes....

And something IS going on with Max's hair. It almost looks grey it's so bleached. And sometimes it looks like it's standing straight up like he stuck his finger in a light socket. Maybe he did...that would explain a lot.

can someone explain to me the nature of the relationship btwn Napo and Milagros? I've never been able to figure it out. Also, what is the significance of the Jarochas??? What role do they really play in this crazy story?

and finally, what is the Espanol equivalent of the phrase, "jump the shark?"

Diamond i can answer your question Napo doesn't feel he's ready to get married so therefore Milagros has taken up with the professor and the Jarochas are there to make Milagros jealous of Napo's popularity towards other women. It seems that Napo is jealous of Milagros relationship with the retired Professor so he needs to step up and make his true intentions her known.

As for how do say "jumping the shark" in Spanish the only English translation i can give you is any novela produced by Mejia.

I did say a couple or so weeks ago, that I was surprised how these actors can keep a straight face.

I love WL, but even he can't keep me with this show. I just peep once a week for a few minutes, and sometimes get around to reading ya'lls comments.

I actually happened to see Sortilegio dvd at WalMart, bought it, watched just all the scenes w/ WL in it, and could not stop. what a difference in roles. Sortilegio was not the best story either, but this TdA is on another level of crap.

jump the shark

saltar el tiburón

it happened 140 episodes ago

I don't even know where to begin - the recaps are definitely the best parts of this tn!

Oh, but here's this comment:
"If we get "romantic" scenes of Nati's and Juanjo's honeymoon I might barf. No Juanjo in the bubble bath, please."

My response: NO LO SOPORTO!!!! NO PUEDE SER!!!!!!!!

So late in reading this. I still haven't watched the episode and I suspect this recap is far far better. Thanks for such great, funny recap.
