Triunfo del Amor #152 6/21/11 Dona Victoria and her Three Studs or The Good, The Bad , The Ugly and the Morally Ambiguous

[HIghlights recapped by Dani and NovelaMaven--posted by jardinera654]

The scene with Os, The Voice and PJP was a masterpiece of understated acting. As PJP watched stunned the other two spent time showing their tail feathers like peacocks while Os accused The Voice of being Vic's lover and the Doc ripped into him for destroying Vic with his infidelity. PJP"s double take was priceless and he then had to chide the pair of them to tone it down and act like adults. Meanwhile Leo lolled around in a semi doped up stupor.

Vic finally seemed to be getting her story through to Maria but did snipe at her for not loving Max by getting together with limp Lon. Maria did finally confess that it will be a pity marriage since he is dying., Vic looked suitably shocked (and I suspect sympathetic).

The whole gang gathered in the barrio to fret and do nothing over the double kidnapping although someone did mention bringing in the cops.

Later the same group of do nothings gathered in Sandovalville and apparently had come up with a plan and several sets of people set out on their assigned tasks. Os was left to field phone calls while Leo took him down a short trip to their shared happiness. She was not pleased when Os told her he loved Vic tons more than he had ever loved her. She then planted one on him just in time, wait for it, for pouty Fer to arrive and see Daddy kissing (he wasn't participating) another woman. Guess she is going to have to reject him now which leaves her - alone.

Evil Woman was sprung from the pen and returned to her business and ripped into Xi. Gui arrived mid rant and the two gloated over his having completed his assignment. Burnie gave him a suitcase full of money which Xi's mother caught while peeking through the window. The two twits then went to Gui's house that night to steal the money but got caught by our gun toting actor.

Max, The Voice and Lon were directed to a dump where in the dark of night they somehow found a couple of items of Maria's clothing which Burnie had sprayed with blood. Suitable hysteria ensued.

Burnie crossed the line from murder to sadism when she and her henchmen arrived at Ratsville and took Maria away while the men made sure Vic knew it. Later two shots rang out and Vic had a predictable screaming, sobbing response.

THE GOOD...

Fausto will be serving a long sentence for Tomasa’s murder. Eva tells him it serves him right for punking out on avenging his mother’s death.

THE BAD...

Bernarda gets her kicks:

Bernie’s back in full Doña regalia. On her way out of jail, she kicks a prisoner who says she saved her life; and then she kicks Eva, who was expecting to be thanked for orchestrating her release.

At Casa Bernarda, she lets Xi know she’s on to her attempted double-cross and kicks her out of the throne room.

THE UGLY...

Napo tells Juanjo he wants to marry Millie.

Won’t Get a Life Alonso is offered a great career opportunity in Buenos Aires. When he runs to tell his ternura about it, he finds out about the kidnapping and grumpily muscles his way in.

...AND THE MORALLY AMBIGUOUS

Leonela tells Os he was the love of her life. He says he did love her once but he loves Victoria infinitely more.

Pablo Montero should watch this & find out who their voice coach is. Not one note off key that I could tell & they are 16 & 17 years old.

Last night I was sooooo ready for somebody to stuff that gag back into Victoria's mouth. I am so sick of that loud braying about m'ija!! Sorry, but I AM!

and there are so many weeks still ahead!

What happened here, did univision/televisa tell the writers to keep extending the same scenes, same words to fulfill a scheduling situation?

I missed last night. I downloaded it. We are leaving on vacation, so I have been downloading all the episodes that I will miss.

Last night I missed it, because a huge tree branch came down across my car just as it was coming on. I guess my dedication to the TN is just not good enough :).

Cindy

Bummer I was hoping for a recap. I fell asleep- but sounds like I didn't miss much. Victoria still pleading for Maria's forgiveness...

I hate that we don't get an episode tonight; I might race ahead.

What is most bothering me about this episode is Fausto's willingness to go to prison for Tomasa's murder. What else could he possibly have on his conscience that he thinks he deserves punishment for a crime he didn't commit?

This week is the wrap-up on production, but I have no idea how many episodes of this series are completed in a week.

My Adobe player crashed on Variopinta's link, but I have heard those guys. Excuse my superficiality, but I have to close my eyes when I listen to them. They so do not look like their voices. It does please me that people their age are showing interest in those songs. Here is a link to their YouTube channel:

Sheesh! I am really tired of this novela. What a disappointment this remake is compared to 'el privlegio de amar'! I don't remember it dragging on like this one. Oh, well, I will continue fast-forwarding when necessary and watch 'Alborada'!:)

Becky T.

Becky,

I hate to say this, but I just downloaded number 172.

That is the last one at this point.

Cindy

Thank goodness for whoever invented the FF button on the remote. I can't stand listening to Victoria's voice for one more minute. She's is the most unsympathetic character ever in a novela.

Actually last night had some pretty good things. The episode should be titled Dona Victoria and her Three Studs.

The scene with Os, The Voice and PJP was a masterpiece of understated acting. As PJP watched stunned the other two spent time showing their tail feathers like peacocks while Os accused The Voice of being Vic's lover and the Doc ripped into him for destroying Vic with his infidelity. Burnie crossed the line from murder to sadism when she and her henchmen arrived at Ratsville and took Maria away while the men made sure Vic knew it. Later two shots rang out and Vic had a predictable screaming, sobbing response. Like her or not no one needs to be treated that viciously and I'm waiting for the retribution that Burnie so richly deserves.

We get a respite tonight before we discover what if anything happened.

Jardinera i'm feeling you i have said this for a long time that Victoria Ruffo has been miscasted for this part and i just can't take her sobbing and "Mi hijas" anymore scenes.

I'm just waiting for this train wreck to end i'm sure if it has wrapped up in Mexico that the actors are deliriously happy this horror show is over for them.

Thanks for posting the discussion page, Jardinera.

Dani, great job! You nailed it. Here are a few more small points:

THE GOOD...
Fausto will be serving a long sentence for Tomasa’s murder. Eva tells him it serves him right for punking out on avenging his mother’s death.

THE BAD...
Bernarda gets her kicks:
Bernie’s back in full Doña regalia. On her way out of jail, she kicks a prisoner who says she saved her life; and then she kicks Eva, who was expecting to be thanked for orchestrating her release.

...AND THE MORALLY AMBIGUOUS
Leonela tells Os he was the love of her life. He says he did love her once but he loves Victoria infinitely more.

Note to all of you Faithful Followers - you are to be commended for your loyalty and tenacity. I check in from time to
time, but just cannot take this nonsense; it's an insult to viewers, and I wonder why the actors do not protest and clamor for better roles. Of course, I plan to watch the grand finale.

I always thought that a novela
was totally finished and in the can before being released for
viewing. I recently learned here and elsewhere that production is just wrapping up. About how many episodes need to be completed before the novela is premiered?

Thanks to all the recappers for a
valiant job. Your writing is
excellent and humor terrific.

The writers of this TN must be laughing all the way to the bank for getting paid for the writing they don't do.

I mean, really, how many times do we have to hear Victoria's sob story. . . once in every episode apparently. . .except louder and longer. . .(I'm grateful for volume control and channel switching) along with no new plot development.

Pathetic!

Didn't think it was possible for Burnie to get more evil, but she is.
I love this novela. It's the first one I've seen. My family thinks I'm crazy because the world has to stop while I watch TDA.
Yes, way over the top but can't wait to watch it each night, and recaps, of course. Fer is really getting to me though. Ugh! I want to slap her!
Victoria gives the crying scenes her all. I get exhausted listening to her.
With all the complaining we viewers do here I must say I'll miss them all.

It would be financial suicide for any network to wrap production on a 100+ episode novela and keep it in the can until the premiere. I can see doing this with a miniseries, because that is far less of a financial risk.

Imagine how many more viewers TdA would have lost in Mexico if they hadn't offed LindaHo or resurrected JuanJo (oy, vey)?

The only advantage to shooting an entire series before airdate is the ability to maintain story and character integrity. Shooting two weeks before air allows for adjustments, but sometimes these go too far. This is the issue I have with Telemundo's novelas when PdG went on too long and when Aurora took such bizarre plot turns, both in an attempt to please the viewers.

Speaking of Aurora I wonder whether the writers know the writers of TdA considering that both used the fake murder as a sadistic ploy against a third character. It doesn't surprise me a bit that Bernarda and Guillermo would think of such a thing.

The three musketeers are sent to a dump to find bits of Maria's clothing, yet NOBODY has called the authorities yet? Is this reflective of how life is, in Mexico? If so, all I can say is YIKES.

I think Meh-jía and his writers are the ones 'lolling around in a semi doped up stupor.' Lazy, lazy, lazy. Anyone remember Olga (QEPD) from T-W foros? She would say "monkey writers!" I suspect monkey writers, too, and that they are paid in bananas. Seriously, this telenovela makes FELS look like Shakespeare. Well.. okay... I won't get that carried away, but IMO, FELS was infinitely a better production than this tontería.

Doris- We just learned from yesterday's episode of Teresa that a person has to be missing for 72 hours before they can be declared missing by the police in Mexico. So the waiting around to tell the police may have something to do with that. Family and friends have 72 hours to tough it out by themselves before the police will involve themselves.

Urban it's funny you bring up Aurora because i had to stop watching that mess it just got beyond stupid for me. I'm not saying this is any better than that but because i like Maite (head tilt and all) Perroni and William (please what is going on with your hair dude? But you're still hot) Levy that's the only reason why i have stayed for the end of this.Otherwise i would have bounced a long time ago. I don't even want to thin what Meh-jia will do the Cunos de Lobos remake now i just shuddering thinking how he can ruin that one also.

As for the writer didn't Jarocha mention that the main writer had quit because of conflicts with Meh-jia and how he wanted this novela to be written? If that's true it does look like he did borrow the writers from Aurora because the way this story is all over the place makes no sense at all.

Here's to the Gran Final for us in the U.S. it can't get here fast enough for me.

One thing is still bothering about the kidnap warehouse - that blinking camera.

I wonder if Gui the actor put it there to catch the whole scene so he can use it against Vic or Os or in one of his theatrical productions.

Did Burnie suggest it so she could sit sipping sherry and gloat over Vic's misery. Neither one of them has mentioned it.

Or is it just some fluke that the owners of the warehouse (who I thought might be Burnie) set it up for security purposes? It is bugging me no end.

Interesting that you have to wait 72 hours in Mexico to report someone missing but in this case both Max and Os have gotten calls from the kidnappers. You'd think that would trump a missing persons report.

About notifying the authorities -- they did. It's not shown but Chente tells Max: You've notified the authorities. Now let them do their job. And Max says: Yes, but I can't just sit around waiting.

The 72-hour thing must apply to people simply disappearing and not to cases where the kidnappers have called and demanded ransom.

About the camera -- We saw Gui clearly posing for the camera when he was preparing the warehouse for his victims. He and his henchmen set it up.

Dani and NovelaMaven: Thanks for helping out with hi-lights this week. Much appreciated!
=============
I've only seen so far 165 episodios listed, but if it goes to 172 now, then it makes sense about only now finishing up production. Thanks, Cindy! Rotten luck about your car!! At least you and the family are fine and there are no open holes in the roof or walls so you can go on vacation still! Enjoy!
=============
Doris: You brought back memories! Tks!

NovelaMaven: Ah, yeah, the camera. I swear that half the time the editing leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to continuity. Gui set up that camera a week or ten days ago, I think, and I couldn't even tell what he was doing, so didn't pay much attention as I should. Thanks for the reminder.

Still love this show and look forward to seeing it each night.
Will surely miss the actors and characters when it's over.

Really appreciate the English recaps.

Anne S.

I think whoever is writing Victoria's lines has taken that old song refrain to heart:

"Second verse, same as the first.
A little bit louder and a little bit worse."

Repeat ad infinitum.

I cannot stand her.

Haha Julia that's too funny and sad but it's true "Mi hija", sob "Mi hija", sob "Mi Hija" sob blech!!!!!!

It's a funny thing... I often see the last few minutes of Teresa because it bleeds over into the Triunfo timeslot. And when I see the title character strutting around and waving her index finger in the air (very much like Bernie does during her soliloquies), I feel an almost physical sense of repulsion.

De gustibus, my friends, de gustibus.

Do we think this could be it for Ximena? Both she and Rox are in a heap of trouble because they are not only busted by Gui for attempted robbery, they now know he got a lot of money from Burnie for doing her bidding. They are a huge liability for Gui to let loose. I've said it before but Xi can't suffer enough for me.

And is it just me or does it seem ridiculous that there are four "boyfriends" looking for 2 women?! When Dr. Voice told Alonso to ride in his car I thought "Yeah, the car for the runner-ups!"

And Leo, enough already, they are in the middle of a major family crisis! Now is not the time to put the moves on Oz, especially after he's just bared his soul to you and told you your love was NOTHING compared to the love he feels for Vic. HONESTLY!!!

All the avances for Thursday were of stuff we've already seen. Maybe since we're so close to the end they can't show previews without giving something away.

Katy

Leonela is such a flaming narcissist that this is par for her course.

No spoilers, but I yielded to temptation and went ahead two episodes online. Do not miss them!

I couldn't help thinking last night that Alonzo looks a lot healthier lately. When that pretty assistant or manager or whatever came in to tell him about Buenos Aires I kept thinking maybe the proverbial ton of bricks will fall on him and he will find out about the pity marriage, cut his losses and take off to live HEA in Argentina with the girl. He isn't a bad character but just so over the top obsessed. And he is apparently the only one with a whit of common sense.

I've also come to the conclusion that The Voice will not end up with Vic. All novelas have major character who have lessons to learn and obviously Vic's is forgiveness. So I'm convinced that she will learn a painful lesson and forgive Os who has gotten the shock of his life with a rival. Then the dim wit Sandoval kiddies can have mommy and Papi back together and they call all live in the big house after learning not to have secrets, lie, manipulate and oh yeah jump to conclusions.

Darn it, the program I used to download these videos is causing them to freeze part way into the video. Frustrating!

I do have to say, I liked Lon when he first came on. I don't like what they did to him in this TN.

Cindy

PS: There actually is a hole in my roof. It ruined the sun roof. The car is likely a total loss. I have been trying for a new car for two years. Now, I will get one, although hubby offered to cut the roof off, since I have wanted a convertible.

It was just a matter of time, Bernarda has managed to completely take over this show.

Cindy... 2 words:

Duct tape

Carlos

Carlos:

I prefer these two words: new car.

Cindy

Help! how can I down load. all this week I'm without a television

Ok, I am a newby. I thought Lola shot Oz? Why then haven't the police been called, and why does he have anything to do with her? I must have missed a bunch of plot.

Anonymous,

I just spent hours trying to download. While I thought it was working, I have been watching last night's episode and have realizee that it did not work for me. I have figured out that my program stalls at the spot that darkkiller inserts advertisements. Can you watch them online? http://telenovelas.darkiller.com/

Cindy

Daily Motion also has the episodes: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xj1cpt_triunfo-del-amor-capitulo-157-1_shortfilms

Thanks, all, for discussion. The daily recaps are helping me hang in there.

I had high hopes for Victoria Ruffo in this role, but she, like Daniela Romo (IMHO), have played these roles without an ounce of nuance. I encourage anyone who likes the story and hasn't seen it to watch EPDA. It's a masterpiece in comparison, with Helena Rojo in the Victoria role a complex and interesting character.

That said, I'm happy for anyone who is loving this novela. The first novela I ever watched was Alguna Vez Tendremos Alas, with Cynthia Klitbo, Humberto Zurita and Kate del Castillo. I loved every minute of it. Didn't miss an episode. I have no idea what anyone else thought, but it made my day. Since then I've watched and loved so many bad and good. To each his or her own!

OT, since there is no episode tonight:

What was your first novela?

My very first was Madres Egoistas with Julieta Rosen. Maria del Sol was the female villain. I was hooked from the opening episode and made a friend record it for me when I was on vacation. My second was the 1993 Corazon Salvaje -- perfection!

OT, since there is no episode tonight:
What was your first novela?

UA - My first telenovela was "Maria Rosa, Buscame Una Esposa." I think I understood only 10% of the dialogue but quickly became a fan of Gianella Neyra.

For those complaining about lack of nuance: IMO the director has demanded NO NUANCE! He prefers to hit his audience over the head with everything, as if we were schoolchildren. Like the bizarre echo treatment.

Just IMO. After watching Daniela Romo play the incredibly nuanced Doña Juana in Alborada, I am just amazed at how she has been totally boxed in here.

Conclusion? It's the director's orders.

Audrey

No. Quiero. Futball.

My first Telenovela was Alborado. Fell in love with Colunga and watch anything he is in, though I much prefer him in the historical pieces. Thank you, recappers, I could not have understood anywhere near as much without your help.

Audrey -- Yes, I agree that direction is bad and actors vulnerable to his heavy-handed approach. Sadly, VR seems to get cast in these kinds of one-dimensional roles often. I have heard that the novela Victoria is really good (Telemundo) and that she gives a great performance.

Daniela Romo has been IMHO better in many novelas I have seen, including Sortilegio, Alborada and El Manantial. I know that there are people who have enjoyed her as Bernarda and again more power to them. So much of this is personal taste and preference among us viewers. That's what makes these forums such fun.

My 1st novela was Destilando Amor, but started watching probably a third of the way through. Thought Yáñez was pretty cute, but then I saw Pasión & I was really hooked on Colunga.
I enjoyed the tequila theme in DA novela very much.

Vivi, Is that a picture of Jarocha with you in DC?

Great job recapping Dani and NovelaMaven!

My first novella was Pasion. I ran across it by accident by flipping the stations, but saw the costumes and recognized some decent acting- even though I couldn't understand what the actors were saying, so I gave the novella a chance... and glad i did.

Although many people did not care for this novella (mostly in Mexico as I recall) I thought it was great fun with some spectacular moments and humorous scenes... to th end. Colunga as a pirate-wow wow. Levy was good in there too- I told my husband he would be a star.

I've seen many novellas since, and especially enjoyed CS as I thought Arcely terrific in dual roles, but Pasion still has been the one I've enjoyed the most (trying to get into Alborada.). Teresa's pretty good... she's written as a strong, smart, spunky antiheroine.

Just do not care for these novellas that the main characters (or heroines) are weak and dumbed down with unrealistic goals/ motivations/ conflicts, or the audience is expected to look over weak and/or boring storylines with too much unneeded filler. Whew...I feel much better now. : )

Thanks again recappers! Although we don't always say so, we do really appreciate all you do.

Lady Lisa de Saint Helena

I actually like the character Vic. She has more dimension to her then the others who are all stock TN characters i.e. kindly wise padre - check, studly galan with open or off shirt - check, weepy, self sacrificing young protagonist - check, evil heartless villain or villainess - check. Vic has multiple sides. I can't figure why one character was written this way and none of the others were.

Vicky Ruffo is a fine actress but she is being badly directed in this mess as is everyone else. If you didn't see the Cesar/Vicky version of La Madrasta get a copy and watch a couple of pros sing. They were incredibly hot together and you can have great fun with G Cantu and the gang of orange. The rest of the cast was either really good or horrible but it was a wild ride.

My first novela was Sirena with Carlos Montilla. I came in mid way with little Spanish but got hooked on a terrible story because Carlos was so gorgeous. OK so I'm shallow - LOL.

Then I saw my first all the way thorough Maria Mercedes with Thalia and the divine Arturo Peniche. Now there is someone who can really act and who got away from the galan roles they wanted him stuck in. It was also Colunga's first novela and he was so wooden and awful it was funny. He has gotten better over the years but he will never be a great actor.

As much of a pill as she is, Victoria "I love you, don't touch me!" Sandoval still has a long way to go before catching up with Alguien te Mira's Piedad Estevez on the unlikability scale. Just saying. :)
