El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of July 11, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves

¡Hóla a todos! I had a great time in Iceland. Thanks to Novela Maven for taking my turn to do our weekly post.

Here are some pics from my trip.

A seaside town in western Iceland.

Everybody's favorite: a Puffin! You can't tell in this picture that the Puffin is on the edge of a cliff where the wind was blowing 50 miles/hour.

Typical Iceland scenery.
Ditto.

A Red-throated Loon and her chick. Red-throated Loons are common breeding birds in Iceland. I've seen them in States in their winter or non-breeding plumage.

This is me facing the camera with some of our group looking for a Snowy Owl on a typical summer day in Iceland. We couldn't get to where the owl was because the road was closed by snow. (This was a relatively high elevation in the north of Iceland - sometimes it gets to 60 degrees in Reykjavik.)

These are female Common Eiders and their chicks. Eiderdown is made from the downy feathers they line their nests with.

Typical Iceland scene.
This is the geysir Strókker erupting. You only see one little string that keeps people from going right up to where boiling hot water shoots out. This would never happen in the US.

There was a guy from Venezuela on the tour and he would not speak Spanish to me. He was the only Spanish speaking person I have met who wasn't interested that I spoke Spanish. It was disappointing.

OK on to Telemundo:

HEREDEROS - viernes
One week to go on this one and Friday was an episode of revelations.

Juan, Paula and Sofía returned to La Arboleda. Juan and Paula had a private interview with Emilio while the other brothers waited impatiently downstairs. Jose tried to convince the others that J & P were cutting some special inheritance deal with Emilio but nobody was buying.

Emilio told Paula that he had always known that she wasn't his biological daughter. He fathered Juan and then had an illness that left him sterile. Big relief for Juan and Paula (but I would still get a DNA test.) Emilio said that he liked Sofía and wanted a daughter so he accepted her as his child.

Then Paula leaves and Emilio tells Juan about his mother. She was a peasant (campesina). He took her baby from her and then she committed suicide. Juan is really bummed that the father he respects so much could have done such an evil thing. Later Modesto tells Juan that his mother was unstable mentally and might have hurt Emilio or him.

Paula is with Adela and Sofía when Jose comes up and accuses her of pretending to be Emilio's daughter to get an inheritance. Adela scornfully replies that Emilio has always known that Paula was not his biological child. Both Jose and Sofía are impactados at this.

Lupe is still in domestic abuse victim denial mode and Berta is still trying to talk her into accusing Gaspar.

Johnny tries to figure out what is going on with Consuelo. He concludes that she doesn't love him. She denies this and finally admits that she's pregnant but not that she was raped. He is not that excited about the news because he believes (but of course has not told Consuelo) that he is sterile.

Finally, Miguel overhears Rosario and Consuelo talking about the fact that they were both raped. He goes ballistic.

Over to you for Corazon and La Casa.

Jean, what great photos! Thanks for sharing a little bit of your trip with us. (The only time I was in Iceland was many years ago when my Icelandic Airlines flight had a delay of several hours in the airport at Reykjavik. In those days, Icelandic was THE way to go to Europe on the cheap.) So glad you had the chance to make the excursion and equally glad to have you back with us here. Bummer about the close-mouthed Venezuelan.

LA CASA DE AL LADO -- viernes

Some observations:

I thought Javier's forcing his family into his own lunatic vision of the ideal 1950's family was hilarious:
--Pilar in the kitchen, wearing an apron and her habitual bug-eyed grimace
--Bratty Andrea absolutely horrified when Javier tells her to set the table.
--Javier himself as Ward Cleaver's evil twin, so very pleased with himself as his women serve him.

Ignacia is a liar and a cheat. Is she also a murderer? Poor Lidia!

So Danilo works for Leonardo/Adolfo/Ivan. Wrong-headed Carola has invited the enemy right into her home and her bed. And he carries a gun!

As for Danilo's 'evidence'-- the DVD that supposedly exposes Javier as Adolfo's killer -- pretty weak stuff, it seems to me. But then I'm on the outside looking in.

So Yolanda's doctor isn't even a doctor, just some quack exploiting women's insecurities. Nibaldo's reaction to Yolando's near-death shows a new side of him. He DOES love his wife.

Eva is going to be very sorry she invited Karen into her home. And just wait until Karen gets a load of Emilio's room and catches onto his 'hobby'.

Oh Jean, Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures of Iceland. I am not watching this show but had to stop by and offer homage. I love to take pictures of birds too but have only been in Puffin territory in Nova Scotia with too small of a lens to get such a grand picture as you have and yes, I can see that he is training against the wind.
Great, just great. Thanks.

I mean the puffin is straining, he looks like he doesn't need training...

Jean, Your photos are gorgeous!!! Was this vacation, business, or a bird-watching trip?
"You only see one little string that keeps people from going right up to where boiling hot water shoots out. This would never happen in the US."
Amen to that. It's amazing, isn't it? When hubby and I toured a crystal factory in Sweden, there was nothing to prevent us from walking up to a fiery kiln and put our hands in, leaving the venue open to a (McDonald's hot coffee type) lawsuit. I commented on that to our hosts, who said, "here we are each responsible for our actions." They're on to something over there.

Yay! Love to see bird photos from someone's trip! I'm so glad you included one of yourself. I haven't seen a Snowy Owl myself either, although they do show up in the Texas panhandle now and then during winter. I just haven't been willing to drive up to Lubbock in the winter brrrrrrrr!

Audrey

EXCELLENT PHOTOS

Thanks so much, Jean for sharing your phtotos. The one of the puffin was especially appealing. Because I'm a language nut, I googled Icelandic and found out they speak a fairly archaic Scandinavian language. What I read said they can easily read 1,000 year old documents in Swedish or Norwegian.

You definitely brought out the birdwatchers in cyberspace with your post!

HEREDEROS - VIERNES

Jean, thanks for your excellent description of Friday's revelations. Frankly, I was getting bored with Emilio's protracted deathbed scene. I don't want him to die before sticking it to José, but gad that went on forever.

I just can't believe the chutzpah of José. He commits crime after crime and shows up expecting his share of the inheritance. I did notice that fellow creep Gaspar called bullsh!t on José's big "change for the better". The one good thing about all the wrangling downstairs was that Beatriz wasn't there.

Sofía got in a good line. When José snarled at them for arriving, she asked what he was doing there because he's a kidnapper and should be in jail.

God, I'm sick of Johnny and Consuelo not telling each other the truth. I will say that the actor playing Consuelo has an absolutely gorgeous complexion.

I enjoyed seeing Lucas grab José when he tried to go up and interrupt Emilio and Juan.

It looked like Beatriz was a bit shocked when Efraín showed up only interested in Simón and not worshipping her. Yay!

Berta may have shone a small light into Lupe's small brain when she told her Gaspar might do something "irreparable" (read kill her or badly maim her) and rot in jail. ¡Ojalá!

I guess they had to make Juan's mother, Luisa Cáceres, a dangerous nutcase or Emilio could never be forgiven for taking Juan.

Of course they made us wait once again for the big scene about who gets what of the inheritance.

Thanks all for the nice comments on my pics. Yes, this was a birding trip with Wings, a bird tour company.
I got to see my goal bird, which was a Gyrfalcon. In fact, we saw 10 Gyrs but only two could fly. The others were chicks in three different nests up on cliffs.
I have seen Snowy Owls in New Jersey on the beach in winter.
I tried to learn to pronounce Icelandic but it was hard. Our guide for the tour, an Icelandic guy named Yann, told us that in school, Icelandic children learn English and Danish. He said that Icelanders think that Danish is an ugly language - like talking with a potato in your mouth.

MI CORAZÓN INSISTE – VIERNES I

The crooked cop gives the only copy of the disc proving Lola didn't kill Rugeles to some guy in a car who said it was worth big bucks.

Another TN coincidence, Lola and Adela are having lunch in a restaurant when Daniel and Verónica show up. Daniel doesn't see them right away, but Vero plants a big kiss on him and smirks at Adela. Before this happens, Lola tells Ade that she sold some paintings in the attic for, I think, around $1,500. This explains the restaurant lunch!

We discover that Andrés is fine after the accident, but we don't yet know about Debora.

Under hypnosis, Soledad tells the rest of her Panama story. She and some other women make a run for it. Tiberio's guys catch up with them and shoot everyone except Sole. He has a worse punishment for her; he plans to burn Lola alive in a chair while Sole watches. (Really - this is pretty over the top!) With the superhuman strength of motherly love she overcomes the big thugs, shooting one in the chest. Tiberio still tries to grab her, but she throws a convenient barrel of acid on him. Lots of screaming and acid fog. What I'm not clear about is whether they were going to throw the acid on Lola or burn her with wood and matches. They used the word quemar. Somehow she got away and made it to LA and Chabela. And she's been afraid ever since. This, of course, explains why Tiberio has spent 20 plus years looking for her. AND, why we only see the back of his head.

The actor playing Sofía has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard. Her diction is fantastic and her voice is just lovely.

We find out what the handing off of the disc was about. The miserable cop, Correa, got money for giving it to the host of one of those sensational gotcha shows. Lola, Sole, Rodrigo, Camilo all watch the scene with Rugeles swallowing all the Viagra then chasing Lola around with her towel almost slipping off.

Before this they show a bit of an interview with the smug TN actor, Apolo Ferrer. He's again pissed that Lola gets more air time than he does.

MI CORAZÓN INSISTE – VIERNES II
Rodrigo knows exactly what happened and goes after Correa in the police station. It's only verbal until Correa says that Rodrigo is bedding both Lola and Soledad, who both hear this. Rodrigo starts punching him, but he's prevented from giving him a complete beatdown by the other cops. The top cop tells Rod there will be a complete investigation.

Andrés is told los dos will be okay. He angrily denies that Debora is pregnant, but is shown a sonogram and hears a beating heart. Debora lays a gold-plated guilt trip on Andrés, maintaining that she was pregnant all along.

Andrés tells Lola about the pregnancy, while Evil Etelvina eavesdrops in the background. Of course, Lola says this is it for them. This happens over and over in telenovelas and drives me nuts. While not the best situation, there's no reason why these galanes can't be shared-custody daddies. But no, the pregnancy always trumps everything.

Lola has a dream in which Chabela is a blonde fortuneteller. She tells her the Andrés card is not happening right now, but there is an hombre de oro in her future. She also tells her money is coming.

Camilo twists the arms of the insurance investigators, telling them that Lola is now a celebrity (la viudita del muerto con sonrisa) and they will get a boatload of bad publicity if they don't pay up.

Ramon and Debora brazen it out with Rodrigo, saying she'd met Pantoja in jail because he'd asked her for a loan. And, of course, the fact that she's really pregnant scotched the motive for killing him.

Soledad and Lola are at Sofía's house for another hypnosis session. Lola tells Sofía about never being able to cry, and Sofía tells Soledad that she needs to tell Lola the truth. Soledad gets angry at Sofía for breaching confidentiality, and it looks like the beneficial hypnosis/psychotherapy sessions are over.

Camilo tells Lola she's getting $1 million from insurance company, half the value of the policy, but she doesn't have to contest any more. She's going to take a vacation in Miami.

They have the big board meeting. The scales fall from Andrés eyes when he sees Marcelo's game. Marcelo and Ramon have the shares bought by Tiberio. And Daniel appears to be ready to throw his to his father. Although he does look pretty guilty when Andrés accuses him. Marcelo makes a big speech about the mocosos (Andrés and Daniel) not really knowing how to run the company. (!!) Andrés, of course, says he's got evidence of the fraud committed by Marcelo. But where they left off, it's unclear if the other board members will support him.

Jean, great photos, thanks for sharing.

Rosemary

Jean, those are great pictures! The puffin is adorable; I've only ever seen them in the zoo.

I did the layover in Reykjavik on my first trip to Europe. It was perpetual twilight the first time, full daylight on the return. I wish I could have seen more of the place.

HEREDEROS

I've been behind on this one forever, so I haven't commented. Just as well, as I think this series didn't in any way fulfill its potential. Gaspar's personality change after the wedding was not logical and it's ugly to see these brothers suddenly split by two of them going really bad.

The whole Nacho thing turns my stomach and I hope he gets what's coming to him.

CASA

Too far behind and too confused to comment.

DECISIONES EXTREMAS

Is this original or it this the stuff that's been airing on mun2?

MI CORAZON INSISTE -

Great summaries, Novelera. I agree it doesn't make too much sense that Debora was pregnant "all along", and eventually it has to come out that she's been Marcelo's amante (Daniel knows this, and he's always changing between good and evil). So months down the road, I guess we can expect a DNA test that shows it's not Andres' child.

Wasn't that convenient that Lola dreamed of her future, and it's really coming true? First, she was going to get money, and she got the $1 million insurance. Next, a new guy in her life, a golden man. I think this is going to be Apolo. The funny thing is, his buddy acts very gay, and it almost seems that Apolo may be gay. Or maybe it'll be someone else. But of course they need to introduce another Lola love interest, now that Rugeles is dead.

LA CASA DE AL LADO -

Great observations, NovelaMaven. I totally agree that the dvd evidence was weak. The only one who doesn't seem to be convinced is Ignacia. This could be 1)because she's the murderer, not Javier, 2) because Adolfo isn't even dead, or 3) a thousand other things I haven't thought of. But I'm glad she seems to want to investigate Danilo further. Danilo told Carola he found her "through Lydia", but I don't think that's true at all, he's working for "Leonardo".

Yes, Javier's "perfect family" was perfectly ridiculous. And firing Karen, who goes next door and gets hired just when Yolanda is out of commission from the quack surgeon (wasn't even a licensed doctor, I think), adds another fun telenovela twist.

BTW I don't think you can usually punch out a quack doctor and have the authorities do nothing to you (Nibaldo), but immediately (in less than an hour, I think) investigate, condemn, and cart off the quack surgeon. But it worked for Nibaldo (and the plot).

CORAZÓN - VIERNES

Hombre, I agree that Apolo's friend is extremely gay. I got the impression that he was his PR rep, because Apolo was ragging on him about his not getting enough air time on the gossip show. Maybe the gay PR rep suffers from unrequited love for Apolo.

I don't know for sure how the Miami vacation is supposed to work out. But I'm going to find it extremely odd if the very independent and intelligent Lola even gives Apolo Ferrer a second look. The way they've presented her so far makes me think she'd have nothing but scorn for this guy.

Jean,

It took me for ever to stop looking at your picture. Is it okay to download one and hand on my wall? Lovely, absolutely lovely.

Corazon
How many months is Debra pregnant or weeks is she pregnant that you can have a sonogram? Why didn't Andres ask how far along she is. I'm confused about this novela, it doesn't let the bad guys get away with things for far too long,so I was surprised that these questions were not asked, but of course it's a TN.

Herederos
Final week - YEAH. Boo Hoo, no more Mario, but an end to a horrific rape story. Since I can't depend on my DVR lately, I gave up the chance to see Harry Potter on Friday evening, so I hope they appreciate it. LOL

CORAZON:

Nellie, in another show, the girl saw her baby in a sonogram about 2 days after she had sex with the guy. So in telenovela time, Debora's right on schedule.

I do think the Herederos people will want to make you the center of their ad campaign "Herederos - more popular than Harry Potter" :)

first of all permission to Hang the picture not hand the picture - oy vey.

Hombre, thank you for making me laugh. I love this site.

Hi Nellie: You can hand or hang the Iceland pics. They're not very high resolution, though. Glad you like them.

Jean

ICELAND PHOTOS:Jean, I loved seeing your photos, as i was in Iceland a few summers ago and it brought back happy memories. for me, one of the highlights was visiting Viday Island --an abandoned island where there is a fountain devoted to peace courtesy of Yoko Ono, and some wonderful richard Serra instllations on this empty, rugged island. When I was in iceland, the puffins were on full force. Supposedly there were 50,000 of them. One thing I found interesting was the name system: people get a first name and their second name is the first name of their father, with son at the end for men and dottir at the end for women. For example, I would be called Susan Maxdottir and my brother Jeff Maxson. When you look in the phonebook, you look under the person's first name.

LA CASA: Hi all. I did manage to read the recapettes when I was on the cruise. But at 75 cents a minute, I decided to forego watching them.

I feel caught up, but am interested to know how come Emilio and Hilda got married...although I wasn't surprised as I felt he did love her, and when they looked at the sonogram together, it was charming and obvious.

Oa, surprised that ignacia and Gonzalo are back together, though.

Looking forward to tonight's episode.

HEREDEROS Lunes - If you haven't watched Monday's episode, don't bother because absolutely nothing happened! The mortally ill on this show never die, they just shuffle around with their bored friends and relatives in tow.

Emilio is the worst. He drags everyone up to this hay barn to have a "I'm about to die" party.

Juan decides to forgive him. I hate 'whooping Juan' worse than 'catatonic Juan.' What a weird performance.

The only new information Emilio manages to croak out is that he has disinheritied Jose. Not exactly surprising.

Meanwhile, Julieta is about to have surgery. She refuses to let Rosa tell anyone about this and tries to make Rosa promise that if she dies on the table, Rosa will kill Paula! A normal person would realize that Julieta is loca and inform relatives, etc. but Rosa just cries.

Johnny and Consuelo are still holding out on each other but Johnny buys a toy for the baby.

Eleuterio comes to see Lupe. He notices that she is nervous, wearing sunglasses inside and lot of makeup but doesn't draw the correct conclusion. Emilio asks Eleuterio to forgive him but he refuses. Yawn.

Rosario and Consuelo talk Miguel out of going after their rapist with a gun. It would be rather difficult since they won't tell him who it is.

That was about it.

MI CORAZON INSISTE - Lunes

We now know that Apolo Ferer is not gay, because he did the deed with "Jenifer", who describes herself as a supermodel, but who is married to a big thug named Wenceslao. Big W gets upset, tries to find and kill Apolo, and even hits Jenifer, but Lola, who just happens to be in the adjoining room of the very same hotel in Miami, covers for Apolo, saying he's with her. Apolo really does want to be with her, and Lola and Chabela wonder if he's the golden boy of the tarot cards (they hope not!). Also, Jenifer wants Apolo for herself.

Apolo's gay manager is played by the same guy who played a very funny accomplice to a fake medium on Fantasma de Elena. This guy cracks me up.

Of course Lola and Apolo are national news, and Andres happens to be watching from LA, so he's even more upset. Some more people (Vicky, maybe others) know that Debora's baby is from Marcelo, but of course Andres doesn't know.

When Danny somewhat reluctantly sides with Marcelo in the company, Andres walks out dejected. His buddy Camilo helps him cheer up a bit, and also has an extremely helpful demonstration of Chase bank's amazing ATM's (can you spell product placement? :)

Adelita tells her abuelito that even though Lola is paying for his expensive treatment, she'll get a new job, and pay back Lola "every cent". You go, girl!

LA CASA DE AL LADO - Lunes

Apparently Danilo's job was to kill Carola. I think "Leonardo"'s plan to get revenge on the Condes is to have them and the Ruiz family blame each other for all sorts of things, while he ("Leonardo") is really doing all the damage. Danilo can't bring himself to shoot beautiful Carola, naked under the covers, and decides to leave.

This doesn't work out too well, because Ignacia finds out he's a fraud, confronts him and later tells Carola, who also realizes the guy she was going to spend the rest of his life with isn't who he claims to be. Leonardo (I'm leaving out the quotes, but no one really thinks that's who it is) is super mad at Danilo, and orders him to kill Carola. He, Leo, will kill Ignacia. But this may not be too easy, because Renato has Leo brought back to the house, where he'll watch him like a hawk. After all, Adolfo tried to blackmail Renato once (a new revelation), and Renato doesn't trust Leonardo one bit.

Ignacia screams at Javier for killing Adolfo, but Javier says he doesn't know what she's talking about. She tells him of the dvd, he wants to see it, so she swipes it from Renato's office, but is caught by Gonzalo before she can get it to Javier. By this time, Javier is in the process of being arrested, as Renato convinced everyone to bring charges to 1) find out if Javier did it and 2) protect Pilar (Gonzo's idea).

Pilar knows Javier sent the emails, and Diego overhears this, but Javier lies very convincing to his little son to avoid blame. Pilar once again is outraged when Javier suggests she had an affair with Ricardo Merino, but when he says what about a guy named Ibáñez, she hesitates WAY too long, before getting outraged again, demanding Javier leave.

Karen's happy about working in the same house with her lover Nibaldo, although he's not. No matter, Karen also ups her income by agreeing to make life hell for Hilda (this is paid for by Andrea).

The fun never stops!

LA CASA DE AL LADO

Also, let me just add that I think the guy playing Javier is amazing. His intense eyes, his craggy nose, his shock of grey hair and his imposing size all help him to be threatening, but he can also be super sweet, frightened, despondent, and many more moods. The actor is really impressing me. The strange thing is that I hate him, but not totally, since I don't think he stole the money from Renato or killed Adolfo (although he's done lots of other bad things).

CORAZÓN - LUNES

Thanks, Hombre, for your capette of last night's entertaining episode. I still just love this novela. It's so light hearted. There's constant change. The way they handled Lola and Andrés being separated again was perfect. Most novelas would have her hanging around LA rejecting him over and over until we died of boredom. But no! The scenes with Apolo were SUCH fun. The guy is a total egomaniac, but in a funny way. Love, love, love the gay manager. The whole scene in Miami is so cute, including Lola talking with Chabela in restaurants and on the beach.

I'm glad Andrés didn't quickly forgive Daniel for what he did. It wasn't as if he hadn't told him over and over again that Marcelo was trying to manipulate him.

Debora's face when she finds out Andrés is not Marcelo's biological son: priceless!!

Sigh. Rodrigo even showed Andrés the Dear John letter she wrote him to prove he didn't know about the baby. But Andrés is being stubbborn.

HEREDEROS - LUNES

Jean, you said it! This novela never fails to disappoint. What is it, 3 nights of Emilio dying? Of course, he also disinherited Gaspar. I was glad about that.

And the completely ridiculous scene of Julieta telling her straight-laced mother to kill Paula!

Plus, we've been waiting a long time for Eleuterio to find out Gaspar is beating Lupe, but they jerk it away from us with heavy makeup and dark glasses.

LA CASA - LUNES

Finally. Pilar really gave it to Javier where it hurts the most. You're out, or if not, I'm leaving.

But then they kind of welched on it a bit when Javier cleverly tells Diego he loves him and softens her up.

The Ibañez Javier asked Pilar about is Gonzalo, so that's why she didn't answer him. But she didn't back down for a change, just kept despising him for what he did to Diego.

It's possible Karen didn't agree to make Hilda miserable for money from Andrea. They didn't really show it. But, you're right, it seems likely that's what she'd do.

And I was glad to see Gonzalo catch Ignacia with that DVD. It's weak tea evidence, but still. I just can't figure out why Ignacia does Javier's bidding. At times she seems to know what a rat he is, but she keeps on doing what he says.

LA CASA -

Novelera, thanks for the clarification that Javier was talking about Pilar's infidelity with Gonzalo, which she did do. I agree that I like her new attitude.

JEAN - looove the puffin. never heard of it, so learned something new. thx.

MI CORAZÓN INSISTE -

daaang - that Apolo Ferrer sure looks like a cartoon. reminds me of Gaston from Beauty and the Beast. even that angry cowboy husband looks animated. the gay pr guy (formerly on El Fantasma) is hilarious - love him!

MI CORAZÓN INSISTE -

novelera: "It's so light hearted. There's constant change."

I couldn't have said it better myself. repeating myself time after time ... that's why i prefer telemundo tns produced in Miami.

MI CORAZON INSISTE - Martes

So, it turns out that Apolo Ferrer IS gay (or at least he claims to be), and he wants Lola to be his friend, to fend off all the girls who try to be with him, since he doesn't want his secret to come out. There's no way Lola will do this, at least until Andres shows up in Miami, and that changes everything.

In badguy central, it appears that Tiberio is the head of enslaving girls for prostitution, and shipping them various places, and Marcelo and Ramon agree to restart their business with him. They're all in this sordid thing together (can't tell Daniel, though). Rodrigo tries to investigate by hiring a hooker who might know something, then saying he doesn't want sex, he wants to talk. She gets scared, figures he's a cop, and won't tell him anything.

Soledad is more confident than ever, but of course that means she's in more danger than ever.

And Adelita is now the hostess in a fine restaurant. Of course some of the first patrons just happen to be Daniel and Veronica!

LA CASA DE AL LADO - Martes

In an intense segment, Carola goes to Danilo's apartment, sees him on the ground, and is hit over the head with a stick! She wakes up, tied up, and finds the newstand woman and Danilo are holding her prisoner. Danilo pulls out a gun, and just before he kills her, she has worked her hands free, hits him, they struggle for the gun, and HE's shot! She never did find out who he worked for, and he's in the hospital. WE know, it's Leonardo, who slips out at night, and it looks like goodnight Danilo.

Javier avoids being arrested by sneaking out the window, later accosts Rebeca, demands that she withdraw the charges, or the one who will pay is Pilar! So she buys Pilar 3 tickets to escape with the kids, but idiot Pilar seems to be standin' by her man. Bad move.

It does look as if Karen if trying to mess with Hilda's mind, and Hilda starts wondering about Emilio who leaves w/o telling her where he was going. In fact, he was buying her a ring, but he doesn't get to give it to her because of the Carola thing.

Yolanda is just about to come home, and she and Nibaldo have put all the troubles behind them. BTW, Nibaldo, any news in the house, she asks? He gulps, not wanting to tell her that Karen now works there!

We know that "Leonardo" is behind lots of the mysterious things. But he has one or more accomplices. One might be his brother Ivan (as some of us have said, there may have been triplets). I currently don't suspect Javier, but now I'm leaning towards distrusting Gonzalo again. Could HE be working with "Leonardo"?

HEREDEROS - Martes

Hallelujah! Emilio finally dies. Before that he disinherits Gaspar unless he completes a domestic violence program. He also leaves money to Sofia and Modesto.

Did Emilio ever find out if one of his sons was involved with Gustavo in his kidnapping after the accident? It seems like that storyline got dropped unless they resolved it when I was on vacation.

We jump forward 6 months and Paula is a few days from giving birth. Julieta has been AWOL this whole time. Juan, Gaspar and Lupe have been living at Beatriz's house. Jose's behavior has not improved and although Gaspar has had the domestic violence course, he doesn't seem to be any more tolerant of Lupe.

Efrain and Adela have gotten together.

Still no communication between Consuelo and Johnny. Consuelo has the pregnancy pillow on as well. Johnny is jealous of other men, such as Lucas, who come to the house.

Meanwhile, Lucas and his blood brother, whose name I've forgotten, have been trying to capture Nacho. They finally succeed.

Rosa has also been mainly away from home for the last six months with Julieta. She finally returns home and tells Miguel that it's all over with Julieta.

Lucas wants to get back with Rosario and that will probably work out because she tells Miguel that she is herself again. I guess that means she is willing to have sex with Lucas.

Juan makes rosy plans for his future with Paula and her baby but Paula keeps reminding him of the Julieta problem. For some reason these folks think that they have to keep promises made to someone who just disappears for 6 months.

More weirdness with Pedro, Berta and Modesto. I have no idea what is going on there.

Finally, of course, we find out that Julieta is back in town in a black wig and in cahoots with Jose to make Juan and Paula's lives a nightmare. They have a devious plan to kidnap Paula. But they don't need to do that. If Julieta just showed up and moved her nasty self back in with Juan, that would keep the dummies Juan and Paula apart and miserable. But whatever. Three more days to go.

LA CASA DE AL LADO -- martes

Thanks for the great capette, Hombre.

NJ Sue, welcome back! I hope you had a terrific time on your cruise.

So. About last night... I just kept thinking how many profoundly unlikeable characters populate this novela.

I had hopes for Pilar when she seemed to have some detectable brain activity on Monday but now she has turned back into the bug-eyed, grimacing hysteric under Javier's sway. Yuck.

As for Karen, I have to fast-forward through her scenes.

I did love Carola's putting her punching-bag practice into action. (And Eva scoffed at her daughter, the boxer!)

Hombre, I liked your suggestion yesterday that Leonardo's plan may be to turn have the families Ruiz and Conde destroy each other. But he has stepped up the viciousness with his stated intention to have Carola and Ignacia killed.

I think CSI and Law and Order and the like have ruined me for a good, old-fashioned suspense story. I keep wondering about forensic evidence or its lack. For example, when SOMEONE went careening out the window at the Conde house, Horatio Caine's team would have been able to tell if that person had jumped, fallen or been pushed. And an autopsy would have shown if the victim was healthy or suffered a neuromuscular disorder (ie if it was Adolfo or Leonardo).

Ah well. I guess we need our tin-foil beanies over on the Telemundo side of the fence too.

CORAZÓN - MARTES

Excellent comment, Hombre. I don't think Apolo is gay. He confided to his PR guy that he was going to get her by any means necessary, so I think it's a ploy. He wants Lola to think he's harmless, until he isn't.

Marcelo and Ramon definitely know exactly what the shipment is going to be and are a bit alarmed it's so soon after they got control of the company back. One thing I'm unclear about is why they also want Sofía and Andrés's shares.

Daniel shows up in the middle of the plotting and wants to know what's going on. He tells Ramon and his papí that Andrés let him be fully informed of the business activities of the company. Marcelo makes a mistake, snarls at him to go play at being a rich kid, and that obviously the two of them ruined the company.

Back in Miami, I noticed from Chabela's big sun hat that ghosts apparently can still get a sunburn.

Andrés has a fight with a guy in a bar who was making comments about Lola (on TV). Rod gets him out with Camilo, and afterwards again tells him, from the heart, how proud he is of him. That despite the cruelty of Marcelo, which might have ruined him, he turned out to be a fine man. Finally, Andrés turns to him and they embrace.

Vicki is as funny as ever, outraged that "her Apolo" is seemingly dating Lola. Can you spell delusional?

Marcelo is planning to threaten Deb with telling Andrés about their "activity" so she'll continue to sleep with him.

I agree, Hombre, that Soledad gadding about is dangerous.

Adela looked gorgeous in her new job, and clearly Danny was eating his heart out. I hope that guy she agreed to see isn't a problem for her.

HEREDEROS - MARTES

Thanks, Jean, great work on the recapette! I agree with the Hallelujah. It was SUCH a relief when he finally kicked the bucket.

Emilio never got a definite answer about whether a son was behind his kidnapping.

I felt like screaming at that stupid scene at Bea's house where the two disinherited brothers are treating the two doormat women like, well, doormats. Gaspar apparently isn't too proud to attend domestic violence classes in order to get a chunk of dough. Lupe tells him something about not believing he's doing this for her. Ya think?

The stupidity of Rosa staying away for 6 months and keeping her mouth shut about Julieta's surgery has to be up in the top five estupideces in this thing.

It looks more and more like Esteban is getting off scot free from his participation in the kidnapping. Rats! I always disliked him so much.

Lucas' biological brother is Amador. I like him and wish they'd have found a match for him.

Efraín and Adela are the best part of the novela right now. They make a very cute couple.

It seems as if Berta lusts for Pedro, but hasn't given up on Modesto as better husband material. Agree, it's very weird indeed.

I'm fairly annoyed with Telemundo for showing all those scenes of what's going to happen with Julieta and Juan's plotting. It's impossible not to see these if you're watching the other novelas on TM. So, bye-bye suspense.

DECISIONES EXTREMOS

They've been promoting the heck out of this show recently. It looks to me like it's a ripoff of Mujeres Asesinas.

First Jean thank you for your permission on the pictures, I hopefully will have a technician here try to his best to print the pictures.

HEREDEROS:
These past few episodes have been annoying, nothing new, maybe 5seconds worth of new stuff, so what are they doing leaving everything to the last episode? Stupid statement. Lupe and Beatriz, don't get me started on them, especally Beatriz she had a good man and threw him away. No doubt about it that my heart pounds when I see Mario, but really would I be around that in real life, don't think so. I do hope that this plotline gets resolved correctly with the men getting their due, and any woman watching it, can learn from this.

Corazon
Excellent about ghosts needing hats, excellent point, she's a ghost why is she changing clothing. Was anyone surprised when Apolo el malo, told Lola he was gay?

LA CASA - MARTES

I'm sleep deprived today from watching all three evening Telemundo novelas, PLUS the All Star Game. This is only possible through the miracle of having a DVR to skip all commercials, and leaving work early. My workplace is full of mad baseball fans, so leaving early to catch the All Star game is a valid excuse. It starts at 5:00 West Coast time.

Thanks, Hombre and NovelaMaven for your great comments. Yep, these are some unlikeable characters, all right.

Rebeca started out sneaky and weird, maybe trying to take over Pilar's children, but she's looking like one of the good guys now.

NovelaMaven, you said it about Pilar! This woman is completely nuts. She KNOWS what her husband did to their child, something almost unspeakable cruel. But she's like a raving madwoman going after Gonzalo and Renato for ruining her home and family. If she had ANY brain cells she'd want him locked up - and yesterday!

And, good point about Carola's boxing practice coming in handy! I hadn't picked up on that.

I'm very tired of Javier constantly getting away with his badness.

HEREDEROS

yes - would've been nice if Amador had a novia.

this tn is super annoying.

HEREDEROS

Whoops! I'm tired of the spoiler scenes of Julieta and José's plotting.

LA CASA = wednesday

Thanks NovelaMaven. I did have a terrific time on my cruise.

Tonight Ignacia came to the conclusion that there are triplets - with Ivan being the third. (I have to pat myself on the back and say I said that a couple of weeks ago). But I have no idea why she came to that conclusion. It seemed very gratuitous to me.

I cannot believe how nasty Eva was to poor Yolanda, who has been a loyal worker in her home for years. Eva is one tough and unlikeable woman.

Pilar's character is just so inconsistent, and the actress doesn't help any. I'm agreeing with the comments about her being an idiot. And tonight really proved it. Is she really going to stay with Javier? How can a woman who is a psychologist be so masochistic and accepting of abuse? I know it happens --but it just doesn't make sense in this.

Finally,I think it became clear tonight that the reason Ignacia puts up with Javier is because of the sexual attraction she has for him. Another masochist. Tonight, she was more sympathetic as she really tried to be there for Carola. But, on the other hand, the way she treats Hilda is terrible.I could have slapped her when she shouted "Retirate" to Hilda, as though she was still a servant and not her sister-in-law. So far, the only characters I like are Hilda and Yolanda.

Seems to me that things are coming to a head...or at least I hope so.

HEREDEROS - miercoles
They still haven't announced the the Gran Finale is Friday or that Flor Salvaje starts on Monday.

Julieta and Jose decide to get at drink at El Gavilan before kidnapping Paula. Everybody in the bar is impactados to see Julieta.

Paula goes into labor and she and Juan head off for the hospital.

Lucas holds Nacho at gunpoint and says that he is going to kill him. Amador tries to convince him not to do that and Gaspar listens to what is going on from hiding.

Finally, Amador unties Nacho and he stumbles off with Lucas shooting at him - missing on purpose, maybe. Anyway, he doesn't hit him. Gaspar appears and also tries to stop Lucas from killing Nacho. In a totally bizarre development, Juan and Paula stop on their way to the hospital, get out of the truck and put in their two cents. Did Juan even know about the rapes before this?

Finally, Lucas decides not to kill Nacho and brings him to the police station. The police demand evidence and Lucas produces printouts of a website where Nacho boasted about his activities with the victims having slightly changed names. This convinces the police.

Paula calls Consuelo and Rosario to give them the news. (Is she using her phone? She left her phone in her room and Juan may or may not have gone back for it. If she has it, then she knows that Julieta is back in town since Adela left her a message to that effect. It seemed to me that they were trying to have it so that Paula didn't know about Julieta.)

Johnny overhears Consuelo and Rosario talking about Paula's call and wants to know what it is going on.

Rosa gives incoherent and contradictory information about Julieta to her family.

At El Gavilan, Modesto makes a public avowal of love to Berta and asks her to marry him. She doesn't reply and Adela urges Pedro to do likewise and let Berta choose.

Efrain asks Adela to marry him and she accepts.

That was about it. Two more episodes.

LA CASA DE AL LADO -

Yes, NJ Sue, you called it. Trillizos! (triplets). Of course we don't know if this is true, and that cryptic message saying Doppel, which is German for doble, or double, doesn't prove much either.

Here's a tip to all minor characters on this show: practice those dying scenes. First we had the gardiner, whom I now think was killed by Leonardo on one of his nightly romps; then "the guy who kidnapped Ignacia", can't remember how he was killed. Next up? Nice Nurse Teresa, stabbed, probably by Leonardo's confederate (another of the triplets?). Now Danilo, who wasn't smothered by Leo, but then died of the gunshot wounds from Carola, JUST before he could tell her who his boss was. Drat! And Lydia was hit by that car (driven by Leo?), and is in the hospital. I don't hold out much hope for her.

Fortunately, all our major characters are doing okay, although they're all lying and stabbing each other in the backs (figuratively). I think the fact that Javier struck Pilar will finally wake her up (but who am I kidding?).

That Karen is so devious, that as much as I want to hate her, I keep smiling with each little trick she pulls.

But I think this show is just about to move into a new phase. The first phase, no one knew anything. The next phase, maybe we'll know more about who the bad guy is, but the other characters won't. The last phase, they know, but how can they stop him. I don't know if this is how it'll work out, but that's sort of how it was on Alguien. First, we didn't know, then we did, but the characters didn't, then it was all out in the open. OTOH, maybe this show will keep us guessing til the very end.

MI CORAZON INSISTE:

All the main characters ended up in Miami, with Apolo (it's now confirmed that he's NOT gay, just faking) and Lola pretending to be an item, Andres making a fool of himself, first suggesting that he and Lola be lovers, then saying he'll give her up, but she can't live w/o him. Debora is happy to see Lola with Apolo, and Vicki is just happy to see Apolo (very happy).

Soledad spent the night with Rodrigo, but didn't sleep with him, still fearful. Sofia isn't happy about the whole situation (is it really ethical for her to be treating Soledad?).

And Camilo, after getting interrupted repeatedly with no name girlfriends, is concerned about Adelita, who almost got in trouble leaving with an older man. She wants Camilo to butt out, but could something develop between these two?

herederos

i thought it rich that jose was reading a girlie mag when bea was trying to make his lunch. "Shhh, can't you see i'm busy?"

i can't wait to see how they resolve the juliette problem. one theory that wafted through my brain was that emilo had sex with rosa, and so juliete and juan are siblings. there was once scene where pablo was hounding miguel, about something (outside), but rosa's tepid reaction to emilio's death didn't clear that one up.

i just hope they show us the horses a few more times. oh, that and get amador a gf. (does his name translate as lover-boy, or is it more like boss-man, anybody know? maybe he can get together with loafly norton)

i think on friday quite a few of us will be making juan's awkward whoop to be free from this stinking pile.

HEREDEROS

Jean thanks, I was confused with last night's episode.

I was wondering how Paula can call Consuelo and not know about Julieta? I was wondering if Juan knew about the rapes? I expected a big surprise on Juan's face but nothing.

Humm, so they held Nacho, but really is it a crime to write those things on the web? If so, a whole lot of people would be in trouble right now. Why didn't the girls run down to press charges, isn't that what Paula is telling them to do, and isn't that what the police captain said.

I must have missed something, Modesto expressed his love for Berta, but did Pedro? It seemed everytime they told him to speak up there was a commercial or something going on, and I could not figure out if he ever said something.

Gaspar preventing his brother from killing, what was that, a momentary reprieve for Gaspar from his second personality? Definitely a mess.

CORAZON

Seriously after one day Apolo is going to move in - seriously?

LA CASA DE AL LADO -- miércoles

Hombre, I think you're on to something. You said:

"The first phase, no one knew anything. The next phase, maybe we'll know more about who the bad guy is, but the other characters won't. The last phase, they know, but how can they stop him."

That WAS the pattern on "Alguien" and this show seems cut from the same cloth.

So we've known for several episodes that fake-Leonardo is a VERY bad guy although the characters, mostly, don't. Still, we're distracted by the assorted churls and fools who are guilty of all manner of betrayal and cruelty but probably aren't murderers.
--------
Poor Yolanda. She's had her tender heart broken twice now. First, there was Nibaldo's betrayal with skanky Karen; now Eva shatters her illusion that the Conde's are like "family" to her; and sooner or later, she'll find out that joven Leonardo isn't the sweet boy she took an oath to look out for -- let's just hope it's not the last thing she ever does.

And if this show is true to its "Alguien" roots, it's only a matter of time -- and not too much, either -- before someone we actually care about is a murdered.
(Assuming we care about anyone besides Hilda and Yolanda and, on a good day, Diego) I wonder who it will be...

HEREDEROS - Jueves
We're almost done with this turkey so a few of the loose ends have gotten wrapped up.

Berta accepts Modesto.

Beatriz puts the moves on Pedro. If she can't have one del Monte, she'll try for another.

Sure enough, preventing Lucas from killing Nacho has caused Gaspar to switch back to being a human being. He realizes how much he loves his brothers and somehow that is going to make him stop beating Lupe. Just as it made no sense when Gaspar suddenly became a wife beater, it makes no sense when he has a character change.

Finally, Johnny tells Consuelo that he is sterile and that's why he knows her baby isn't his. Consuelo holds out cursing her fate for as long as she can but finally admits that she was raped and therefore the baby must be the rapists' child.

Adela gets a call and announces to everyone at El Gavilan that Paula is in labor. Pratically, the whole casts goes to the hospital.

This includes Julieta who makes an appearance just as Juan is going into the delivery room. Juan basically ignores and goes to be with Paula. Naturally, this doesn't sit well with Julieta.

Rosa makes up with Sofia in gratitude for her and Paula being there for her daughters when they were raped.

After a lot of breathing, gasping and screaming, Paula has a baby boy, named Juan Emilio. (On the original version of the novela, she had twins.)

Even without the promos, you could see this one coming a mile away. Julieta snatches that baby.

On to the Gran Finale.

LA CASA - Thursday
Hombre,Really good analysis of the arc of this novela. NovelaMaven, you're probably right that one of the more central characters is going to die. I'm betting on Carola...especially with Pilar as her therapist.(That would be enough to make me commit suicide.) She is impulsive, courts danger, is suicidal and out of control with drinking and drugs. Also she and Ignacia are on L's hit list.

Bravo Yolanda for getting rid of Karen. Working in that family has taught her how to lie with the best of them.

It looks as though Hilda and Emilio are going to break up. He is too hooked in to his dysfunctional family to try and make a life with her --although I think in the end they will wind up together.

Either there's a triplet, or Javier is the evil doppelganger. It would be funny if Javier was the third brother --although I dont think so.

Saying anything about Pilar is not worth the bother. Although, I notice that her black roots are getting more and more prominent. I am wondering if this is going to figure in the story. If not, she needs a fast trip to the hairdresser.

Gonzalo: Even though he is mysterious, I don't think he's a bad guy. He really was very nice to Carola. (Of course the serial killer in ALGUIEN was nice for a long time too.)

Do we know how long Leonardo has been "disabled?" Was it before or after Adolfo was killed? I'm still wondering whether my initial theory that Leonardo is really Adolfo, and that the real Leonardo and not Adolfo was killed.

LA CASA DE AL LADO

Great comments, NJ Sue. As for Pilar, you really got to the "root" of her problem. She's just always too "hair-ied" (harried?) :)

I'm pretty sure Leonardo was "always" disabled, as far as the Conde's know. I do agree with your original theory of Leonardo is really Adolfo, but who knows who was killed? I still think there's another person, either a triplet, or someone we haven't seen before, who will figure into things at some point. Of course Emilio just found out that neither Adolfo nor Leonardo EVER EXISTED! In other words, these are totally fake names.

I liked the scene where Emilio had set up all the romance for Hilda, who was initially moved, but then said he had to put on his big boy pants, did he think she, he and the baby were going to live in this room? He whined "but gee, I've always lived in this room".

BTW, I don't think Karen is out yet. Since Pilar is "going back to work", Karen might be rehired at the Ruiz house!

Jean

All I can say is turkey is right on Herederos.

Beatriz puts a move on Pedro - if that does not suceed will she wait for Juan's son to come of age?

Corazon
What happened to this novela, will this be a deja vu novela where the same plot gets repeated every 4-6 weeks? Lola and doctor, now lola with gay/not gay, in 4 weeks who will be next? -

MI CORAZON INSISTE - Jueves

Apolo's idea of telling Lola he was gay could never work for long. Jenni Dupont overhears him tell Lola he IS gay, and she outs him to the press (BTW, the actor playing the main reporter was a bald DJ on Perro Amor). So Apolo has to prove he's NOT gay, and back in LA, in front of Andres, Lola confirms this, and not only that, they're getting married!

Marcelo has a new assignment for Veronica. Show Daniel a good time (this is to keep him away from their slavery business). She's up for this, and they proceed to paint the town red.

Misguided Adelita rebuffs handsome cop Fugencio Lopez, saying that she's movin' up, doesn't want to live in a trailer forever, even if he is guapo. Hopefully, this is a passing phase for her.

And Debora seems to be having some real problems with her pregnancy. Hope she's okay. I wasn't too pleased to hear her say she'd kill herself if Andres abandoned her. That's the exact same thing a bad guy in another show (Javier in LA CASA) said. Diogenes said that, too. What is it with all these bad guys making the good guy feel guilty. Can't they come up with something more original?

CORAZÓN - JUEVES

I like just about everything about this novela. It doesn't even annoy me that they think of new ways to keep our lovers apart. After all, this is nearly always the case in TNs.

It looks like Agapito, our super gay manager, has some sort of embezzling thing going on, together with Apolo's accountant. The guy is SO funny. I loved the way he couldn't resist saying how really guapo Andrés is; then, catching Apolo's displeasure at this, downgrades his assessment several times.

This WAS a bad side of Adelita shown. Lopez sincerely admires her, and even if she isn't interested, she didn't need to snarl at him like that.

I got the impression that Verónica may have given Daniel some drugs. She said she had something special for him, and I don't think it was what he's been getting all along. And he seemed totally wired and animated when they left for the clubbing.

Sigh, I think I've seen the conniving anti-heroine telling the heroine she'd kill herself if the galán left her a number of times. Except this time they didn't show us the usual smirk of satisfaction from said anti-heroine after this was said. So maybe she meant it.

Shoot! I was not happy the thug of Tiberio apparently tracked Rodrigo to the boat he's chartering to get Soledad away from it all. I definitely don't think she's going to be killed off, especially in a fairly light-hearted novela. But I'm afraid whatever happens will drive her farther into her shell.

HEREDEROS - JUEVES

Thanks, Jean. Excellent recap of the penultimate episode. They did tie up some loose strings.

I don't really think that Beatriz consciously went after Pedro. I think we were meant to believe that they never had any attraction to each other before, but ending up chest to chest on the floor of El Gavilán made their hearts go pitty pat. I know, I know. Very dumb. I would have expected her to go for Amador.

It would have been nice if they hadn't shown us in all the promos that the baby was going to be snatched. It could have been dramatic.

I was groaning at the personality change of Gaspar as well. After he's "reformed" Lupe FINALLY tells him she'll leave him if he ever hits her again.

So, big finale tomorrow.

Is anyone going to watch Decisiones Extremos? I don't really plan on it, but I'm curious if others think it would be worth it.

LA CASA DE AL LADO -- jueves

In the spirit of NJ Sue's and Hombre's roots comments, let me add a few dyspeptic remarks of my own:)

--Was anyone else struck by how ignorant Emilio and Ignacia must be to have to scour the internet to find the meaning of "doppel" and then "ganger"? Didn't any of that Conde fortune go towards educating the offspring?

--How can Pilar not be the absolute worst therapist in the world? Poor Carola. As if she doesn't have enough problems.

--Javier makes me feel like a jaded cop who arrests a punk and KNOWS the scuzz is responsible for a ton of crimes he's never been charged with so he's not too worried about taking some legal shortcuts to see that he's punished for the latest one, even if in this particular case he is innocent. Javier may not be a thief or a murderer but he is a manipulative misogynist, a wife-beater, a bully, a philanderer and an abuser of children. I'd love to see him rot in jail even if it's for crimes he didn't commit. (And what a great job actor Miguel Varoni is doing to elicit these feelings!)
