El Mundo de Telemundo – Week of September 19, 2011: Discuss Amongst Yourselves
How our page differs from most on CarayCaray:
1. The recaps are, for the most part, in the comments and not in the text above.
(One exception: whoever starts the week’s page has the option of putting that first summary in the text box. Since it’s my week and I’m watching La Casa de al Lado, I get to put my two cents worth in the text box today.)
2. Jean and I may be doing the posting but right now the most important and prolific writers on the page are Hombre de Misterio and Novelera. If you’ve been reading this blog for a while, you know these are two of the very best writers around here – both of them literate and funny and always listening for interesting Spanish phrases or vocabulary to share. (Hombre has also shown a surprising flair for fashion commentary – check out his description’s of Lola’s sexy outfits in Mi Corazón Insiste. We may need to start calling him Hombre de Modo.)
3. Because we follow more than one novela in a single space, we try to remember to label each comment. That way, people can find what interests them and not get bogged down in the process.
4. And because we post on the weekend, the discussion begins with the previous Friday’s episode; it continues through Thursday’s episode with comments added each day. So, for example, a typical comment might begin –
La Casa de al Lado -- jueves
5. In this space we have been refining the art of the mini-recap or ‘recapette’, a brief review of each episode that acts as a springboard for conversation. Typically, a recapette fits in a single comment space though occasionally it spills over into a second comment.
So if you are enjoying any of the Telemundo programs and want to check us out, take a peek at the comments that are added each day in the course of the week. And of course we’d love to hear what you all have to say!

La Casa de al Lado – viernes
Extreme birth control
Gonzalo slips into the cheap motel room, chloroforms Ignacia and does a horrifying Psycho number on studmuffin Pedro – no donation will be made tonight.
His knife is raised over Ignacia’s unconscious form but he’s distracted by a knock on the door. Ignacia is saved by the potatoes.
She wakes up hours later to find herself in bed with Pedro’s slashed and bloody corpse. She calls – who else? – Gonzalo. Gonzo races to her side, calls the police, plays attorney and supportive but disappointed spouse. Ig isn’t completely off the hook legally but she is finally free to go home.
Since Ignacia can’t remember anything, it’s easy for Gonzo to convince her that she may well be the murderer. Hey, she might have murdered Adolfo or Leonardo or whatever his name is. Ignacia is ... grateful.
Business as usual at la casa Ruiz
Javier is pretty cranky when he returns home from the fool’s errand Gonzalo sent him on. No one makes a fool of him. No one. He appears just after the still-traumatized Diego has asked his mother if she knows who abducted him. Diego is sent back to his lonely, scary room. Pilar is left to cower and simper.
The next morning Rebeca tries to resist Javier’s blandishments but it seems she’s just a girl who can’t say no.
Tres meses después
Hilda, still in Zacatecas, appears to be going into labor. (Why is she always alone in the Mexico scenes? Low budget or high art?)
Emilio shows signs of recovering his vision but without Hilda and his unborn child, he feels no joy.
Carola, despite Javier's braggadocio, is still smoldering and moldering in jail and still refuses to see her family. The good news: she should be nicely detoxed by now.
Opening Night
Ignacia has been fiendishly busy channelling all her angst into her art. Tonight she gets to show what she has accomplished. It is time for the opening celebration of her new exhibition. The usual suspects gather.
Despite Eva’s tart warning to stay away from Pilar, Gonzalo goes right up to his skittish neighbor and begs for a chance to talk. She refuses, saying she can’t trust herself with him.
Javier slimes over Rebeca. It’s clear that these two are back in their old groove. The new, improved Rebeca didn’t last very long.
Ignacia herself is like a quinceañera, basking in the attention and adulation of the crowd. But then Javier sidles up and reminds her that it was on precisely such an occasion that she first met Adolfo. She is suspicious – how could he know that? And now her bright night is clouded: her mind strays back to that earlier show when Adolfo introduced himself with a scribbled note on a cocktail napkin and asked a waiter to deliver it to her.
She is startled back to the present when a waiter hands her a note scribbled on a cocktail napkin: Estoy muy cerca.
She is instantly sure that Adolfo is back and runs out looking for him. But the only one she finds is Gonzalo. He pretends to be unconvinced – it can’t be Adolfo. But the truth is otherwise. He is also sure Ismael/Adolfo is back.
Las casualidades no existen
The camera shows a strange long-haired figure in a black shirt and green jacket sending an email from an internet café.
Rebeca gets a weird email message (ACh 611938 it says) and no one knows where it came from or what it means.
Karen hears a noise in the house and finds a chair overturned in the kitchen. A window upstairs is open.
Pilar finds a red rose under her pillow and no one in the house knows how it got there.
Javier denies sending Ignacia the note at the gallery opening.
He’s back.
The creepy email guy pulls off his wig and turns to face the camera: It’s Ismael.

PART ONE
For Jean: Pablo’s son, Antonio, is played by the boy who played the young, wicked Victorino Gallardo in Victorinos.
Lucía catches on right away that there’s something between Pablo and Amanda. Amanda walks away, with Pablo following after begging her pardon. She shoves him away.
Enrique is taken into custody in handcuffs by the grinning Mariano. He tells them he always copies famous paintings. Mariano tells him (true?) that he knows art. He was going to be a painter, but decided to join the army instead. His smirk is intolerable.
Rafa introduces the petroleros to José María, their new doctor. José María thinks Rafa is a good man. Raimundo says that there has been a change in him. He thinks a woman has made him a better man.
Amanda returns home with her sisters. She appears catatonic, not responding to any questions from her sisters. Pablo gets an expensive room for his family, surprising his wife that he’s got so much money. Ana, Susana, and Beba run to Zahra and Olga telling them about the woman and boy at the river. They exchange worried glances, guessing the problem.
Pablo talks with his wife when the boy goes in to take a bath. He tells her that he didn’t want to take them along while he searched for work, thinking it would be too hard. He felt lonely on the road. He was with some women, but none of them meant anything to him … until he met Amanda. He also tells his wife he was ready to leave with Amanda when Lucía arrived. He was going to come and tell her the truth and also to tell Amanda of his being married. Lucía is devastated. She says she felt something was wrong and borrowed money from her brother to come to him.
Rafa has an argument with Peter in the Petrolero office. He doesn’t want Catalina coming around to the oil fields any more. Peter says he can’t prohibit her; the land is hers. He also tells him there are laws where he comes from. And, if Urrieta insists on barring her from the oil fields, he’ll resign.
Amanda is shown on horseback, tears running down her cheeks.
PART TWO
Cat is furious because her lawyers aren’t returning her calls. She gets Barba Roja to accompany her to their office. They tell her they can’t do anything for her. She yells that they’ve been paid off, and how much did they get? They just smirk behind her back as she leaves. She tells Barba Roja she’ll probably be reduced to putting two bullets in Rafa’s head.
Alicia calls the 4 P’s and hears from Piruetas that Enrique is in jail. Piruetas is loving telling her!
Amanda is sitting by Clara’s grave saying that Clara no longer feels any pain. They’re hinting strongly at a suicide attempt.
Sacramento tells Zahra and Olga about the arrival of Pablo’s wife and child. Zahra is miserable, fearing the worst, and they all look all over town for Amanda until they hear she’s taken her horse.
Mr. Michael is upset that Pablo hasn’t shown up for work, but Rafa sticks up for him.
Pablo comes to try to see Amanda, stupidly bringing his little boy along. Ana gets right in Pablo’s face and says it’s good the boy is going to learn what kind of father he has.
Zahra and Sacramento find Amanda passed out by the river. They fear the worst, but she does wake up. Amanda: “You thought I’d killed myself for love? But, Sacramento, you contradict yourself. You just told me that I laugh at men and take advantage of them. Why would I hurt myself when I have you to do it?” Sacramento looks very sad and guilty. She looks up, apparently addressing God. “You took my mother, you took my father; he doesn’t exist. You took my brother. And you took my illusion of love. I’m going to be SO bad you’re going to have to build a new hell just for me.” She asks Sacramento if he knows the story of the angel who turned bad. He replies that he does and that it was Lucifer, the most beautiful angel of all. Amanda tells him: “Well, aren’t I beautiful?”
Alicia shows up at the Jefetura Civil to see Enrique and is jerked into Mariano’s office. He doesn’t want her there, but she talks her way out of it telling him it would look very suspicious if she didn’t visit him.
Piruetas is halfway in the bag and playing a tango on Radio Nueva Esperanza. He says that listeners should remember that Luck is a woman.
Amanda comes back to her house and tells them she feels fine. Pablo doesn’t exist. That’s over. Papá is over. Only Flor exists. Ana looks like she’s happy with the new, tough Flor Salvaje; Susana not so much. The younger girls cook dinner, and Flor is pleased. She tells them she no longer has options, but all of the sisters are going to be the very best at everything they do.
Sacramento deeply regrets the cruel things he said to Amanda. He swears she’ll be herself again soon. Zahra says no; she’s seen that look on a woman’s face before.
Alicia tells Enrique in his cell that she could not get the painting back in the right place. There were too many police, and she was afraid. Enrique isn’t worried. He’s sure they’ll find it.
When Lucía finds out that Pablo took Antonio to where Amanda lives, she gets him to take her there. They meet at the doorway, but nothing is said, as yet.
Thanks so much, Novelera. I love the way you tell a story. It sounds as if Flor may be on her way to becoming a 'devoradora de hombres'.
Speaking of Mariano and his intolerable smirk, the same actor plays a smirking, pelvis thrusting nasty mariachi -- el Coloso de Jalisco -- in La Hija del Mariachi. Apparently the guy has a gift for this type of role.
Thanks, NovelaMaven, for another fun and snarky recap. It's weird that things were happening every single day, now three months have passed, and I guess NOTHING happened? Oh well, telenovela conventions. I like your idea that Carola is detoxed. But the writers may not have thought of that.
I still don't understand why Carola is in jail, since there was no proof any crime was committed. Her fingerprints were found on a gun. But how does anyone know anyone was shot? There's no victim, since Ismael is hiding. And no one saw the shooting (except Gonzo, who's the one who did it!)
It's too bad Rebeca has such a weakness (and for Javier, to boot!)
So maybe Ricardo Merino IS dead, and Isamel has just been impersonating him? I guess we'll find out soon enough. Funny he didn't do anything for three months, now sends a note, an email and a rose all on the same day.
As usual, the whole scheme by the Bad Brothers makes little sense. But it's still fun to guess what's coming next.
Here's what I remember (please fill in). Angel has now hired all of Tiberio's old men. He's going to pay them double, and won't be so weird (like using swords to punish them). He does demand loyalty, though. Tiberio is hiding out with Soledad in a motel room. Rodrigo saw their car while getting a taco, but lost them.
There's a power struggle at Exportex. First Andres wants to kick out Debora. Ramon has some legal argument, but it appears that Debora and Ramon don't really have any ties to the company. Angel does, since he controls a lot of shares, but Andres wants him out, too.
Adelita is still sticking with Fulgencio, but we can tell she really loves Daniel, and Fulgencio may have to bow out gracefully (which none of us want).
At the end of the episode, Tiberio ran out of medicine. In another motel room, Rodrigo ran out of eyedrops. Is anyone surprised that they both go to the same pharmacy at the same time? :)
While "As Time Goes By" plays in the background, we hear from Tiberio: "Of all the farmacias in all the towns of the world, he walks into mine."
Andrés has told Lola that his years of pursuing her and being rejected by her are over. In a calm manner, unusual for a rejected galán, he tells her he's going to be looking for someone else to be in love with.
Félix tells Ángel that Tiberio's goons gave Lola a key and a letter. I don't like that he knows.
Andrés goes to the house where the tía of his former maid works, only to luck into the actual maid herself, filling in. For a boringly long time, she resists (making me remember the Telenovela Convention that we never get the big reveal that day) telling Andrés why she got far, far away from his house. At last she tells him that someone was being treated like an animal on his property ... tied up, hungry and thirsty. And it was that woman in the other house, the mother of Lola Volcán!
"I still don't understand why Carola is in jail, since there was no proof any crime was committed."
Great point, Hombre. I've wondered about that myself. I can only conclude that--
Carola tiene cola que le pisen. (Man, I love that phrase and couldn't resist a chance to use it. It means the misdeeds of the past have repercussions in the present.)
Gonzalo explains to the Condes that Carola's antecedentes make her case complicated. The fact that she is already a frequent flyer with the police and that she was previously arrested for shooting up the nursing home even though no one was injured works against her. For all we know, she had been on conditional release after that incident. Then when her prints were found on a weapon in suspicious circumstances, the release was revoked.
But really we shouldn't have to work so hard to make sense of something that the writers could have cleared up in a line or two. [Of course I'm always open to the possibility that they DID clear it up and it went by too fast for me to catch it:)]
Novelera, thanks for reminding me about that key, given by Tiberio to Lola, to be used if she's in "danger". Etelvina thinks it looks like a safe deposit key.
And yes, I now remember that Soledad was living in Andres' garage for a few weeks, unbeknownst to him. But Debora, Vicki and Ramon sure knew. And so did the maid. So Andres is going to be quite mad about this! (Debora's done so many bad things, I forgot half of them) :)
Good points, NovelaMaven about Carola's past legal troubles. I guess Javier didn't have much better luck than Gonzalo in getting her out of jail. Is he still even trying, three months later? :)
FLOR- Thanks for the great recap, Novelera. I really enjoyed that episode. I can't wait to find out what happens with Enrique and the painting. Now that the two guys she depended on have let her down, it will be interesting to see what the new tough Flor is like.
I didn't recognize the kid from Victorinos at all. I'll have to look at him again.
CORAZON- Thanks Hombre and Novelera for the recaps. Not much to say about this one. It needs to get moving again.
Novelera, once again great job!
I thought the scene with Amanda at the river with Sacto and Zhara was really good. I wasn't sure who she was referring to but now it's obvious after you point out that she was talking with God. The way she asked Sacramento if he knew the story of Lucifer, etc, so good.
Looking forward to tonights episode.
I can't believe they haven't started ultimos semanas yet. Things seem to be wrapping up.
Andres is totally blown away by the fact that Debora was holding Soledad a prisoner in his house. The former maid also tells him that Vicky and Ramon knew about what was going on.
Andres and Lola have a very sweet conversation after she finds him singing (with muscial accompaniment) to the baby. But they don't get back together in the way that Etelvina and Pepe are hoping for.
After some gunplay at the pharmacy, Tiberio makes his getaway with Rodrigo in pursuit. But by holding Soledad as a shield, Tiberio gets clean away. He goes to the Mexican police but Tiberio has a stooge there.
Tiberio arranges to have a coyote take him and Soledad across the border. When they arrive, Tiberio kills the coyote and wounds his associate who met them with a truck. Tiberio seems to be getting along ok without any pain medicine.
Meanwhile Debora and Angel are trying to incriminate Tiberio or protect themselves or both, I'm not sure what that was all about.
The upshot is that Felix reveals that Tiberio recorded conversations that he had with people. However, the recording of his conversations with Debora are missing. Debora recalls a conversation in which she asked Tiberio to kill Lola.
Angel or Felix, I forget which, makes the amazing deduction that the key that Tiberio had delivered to Lola is to a safe deposit box where the tapes of Debora can be found.
Meanwhile, Andres remembers meeting Tiberio in the Exportex offices and realizes that Tiberio and Debora are allies.
Etelvina thinks that they should let Andres know about the key.
The police get a court order to tap Debora's phone and they find out that she got a call from Texas. They deduce that Tiberio has crossed the border into the US. This is confirmed when the two coyotes are found.
Daniel and Lopez have a spat about who cares more for Adelita.
That was about what I can recall.
Thanks, Jean. I only saw the first half, due to Monday Night Football. It sounds like an exciting episode. I think Debora also remembered asking Tiberio to kill Marcelo, which is worse than asking him to kill Lola, since Marcelo was actually killed. It sure is amazing that Angel and Felix deduced the key is for the missing recordings. It's also amazing, as you pointed out, that Tiberio doesn't seem to need his pain medicine right now. I'm sure he'll all of a sudden need it, just at some dramatic part of the story.
Adolfo was brilliant in this episode. But before we get to that, here are some other things which happened.
Mabel comes to the mansion and has a talk with Renato about something "which unites them". Eva overhears this, and demands to know what it is. Renato pretends it's nothing, barking out, "there's nothing, what do think, we had some clandestine relationship, have a common child, or something ridiculous like that?" (but Eva and we are thinking maybe that IS the secret).
Hilda has pains, and her mother takes her to the hospital in Mexico. Emilio and Yolanda are going to go to be with her, and also, to transfer her back to the US for better medical treatment if they can. Renato's totally good with this, and hugs Emilio.
Diego has bruises all over his face. He won't tell Pilar what happened, except that everyone bullies him, since he's weak and girlish. And whose fault is that? Yours, Mommy, he tells Pilar. Pilar is distraught (as usual), and figures the only person who can help is Gonzalo (as usual).
Rebeca wants to decipher that email she received. She brings her laptop to Emilio, and they find it came from a cyber cafe in Huntsford, FL. Maybe they'll be able to track it down.
Now for Adolfo's scheme. Pilar goes to Gonzalo's office, and is discussing the Diego problem when
Gonzalo's cell rings. It's Adolfo/Ismael, who has a gun, and is in the office! He's going to kill them both. Gonzo tells Pilar, they both panic a bit, and decide to head for the elevator. They make it to the elevator, but after it starts, the power is cut off (by Adolfo).
In the elevator, they both declare their love, and kiss while waiting to be rescued. Gonzalo also recalls another time the lights went out, when he SHOT HIMSELF in Ignacia's workshop (can't remember the exact point of that, but it was intense).
Meanwhile, Javier comes home and makes fun of Diego (as usual). He's not happy that Pilar isn't there. But his phone rings, and Adolfo tells him not only where she is, but whom she's with.
Adolfo then places his gun on the ledge in the office outside the elevator. He turns the power to the elevator on just as Javier arrives. Pilar and Gonzalo come off the elevator in each others' arms, hugging and smiling. Javier is furious, and punches Gonzalo. Screaming threats and insults, he moves towards Pilar. Gonzalo, without thinking, grabs the gun that was just sitting there, and SHOOTS Javier!
Tonight we'll see if his aim was true.
Terrific summary, Hombre. Thank you.
Yes, Adolfo was clever, wasn't he? He pits the two monsters against each other. And it's funny -- even though Gonzalo is a ruthless serial killer and Javier is just a nasty, crooked lawyer who mistreats his family, in this scene I'm hoping that Gonzalo has inflicted real damage on that smirking SOB.
With the flashback to the shooting in Ignacia's studio, one more mystery is cleared up. Gonazalo (with Adolfo's complicity)shot himself (and almost died!) Did he do this just so Ignacia would LOOK guilty and begin to think she actually WAS guilty? Those Mora boys sure have a flair for masochism.
As I recall, Soledad is a witness to the fact that Débora miscarried before she fell down the stairs and that her baby was Marcelo's not Andres'.
I forgot to add --
Karen and Javier are always a trip together but last night they outdid themselves. I cracked up when Javier picked out and mimicked Karen's "Yes, indeed!" from her stream of incoherencies in two languages.
And what's with the name of the law firm? Javier and Associates -- that's his first name, right? It's like 'Joe's Tavern' or 'Mel's Diner'. Or am I missing something?
Thanks, Hombre, for your recap. And thanks also to NovelaMaven. We are on the same wavelength. Gonzaki may be a worse villain, but I was happy when he shot at Javier. It didn't look to me like he actually hit him, though. Well, we can hope.
That scene with Diego was awful, awful. When Pilar is not around to prevent it, Javier bullies his son worse than the kids at school, calling him a girl and insulting the appearance of his hair. The kid gave him quite the evil look at the end. Maybe he'll turn out like the kid in Alguien te Mira and start his career with his papí.
Other repetitive scenes that drive me crazy are those featuring Eva hectoring her Captain of Industry husband. Her joy at having him alive again didn't last long, did it? She's back to 24/7 nagging.
Why, oh why didn't Rodrigo shoot at Tiberio's tires and stop him getting away from the Farmacia? Oh, silly me, they aren't even in "Últimas Semanas", let along "Últimas Capítulos"!
And now we have Andrés distancing himself from Lola, where in the first 2/3 of the novela it was Lola doing that. Sigh.
Sorry, guys, the only way for me to remember the good stuff is to write it down. I had an early morning meeting at one of our construction sites and managed to lose my little notes. I can't even imagine what whoever finds those scraps of yellow lined paper will think: Amanda, Flor, Pablo, Zahra, half written in Spanish and half written in English.
Lucía showed up to confront Flor, being quite snippy about her being a prostitute. Flor tells her she doesn't need Lucía to tell her what she is. When Lucía tries to blame what happened on Flor, Flor tells her she was deceived also. She knew nothing about a wife, much less a child. I think Flor won Round 1 with Lucía.
After speaking with Sacto in church Lucía decides to try to make her marriage work and kisses her husband.
The 4 P's do a tango number, with stuffed doll hombres as their dancing partners. After the dance, Flor sits right down with Rafa and starts flirting with him like mad. He wonders why. She tells him maybe it was the kiss or maybe it was because he's treated her better than any other man.
Mariano is taunting Enrique outside his cell and doesn't like it one bit that Enrique isn't worried. His favorite pastime is bullying, and it isn't working on Enrique.
Alicia tells Piruetas that they had their one roll in the hay and to get over himself.
Sacramento has been assigned by the Oil Company to help José María get settled in his new house/medical clinic. Don Raimundo smiles fondly at the two of them, who do remember each other. José María insists he not call him "Doctor".
Catalina makes Rafa a very reasonable offer. Give her a divorce and she'll give him 50% of everything. He says he wants it all. She says, in that case, her life isn't worth living and puts a pistol to her head. He manages to have the shot go into the ceiling, but he looks worried. If she offs herself, everything goes to the church.
Flor tells Rafa she wants to leave the club and "be" with him. Pablo is enraged and is barely being restrained by Zahra from spilling the beans. She tells him, if he talks about his relationship, Flor will die. Outside in the street, Flor sees Pablo out of the corner of her eye and pastes herself on Rafa. He lifts her up, and off they go. She shows him such a good time that he leaves her waaay more money the next morning. Why do they always have the payoffs in US dollars on Telemundo? Those were $50 bills. Couldn't they use some kind of foreign currency?
I'm so glad this site exists! I don't speak Spanish and my Washington, DC Telemundo station stopped broadcasting CC3 and Service 2 English subtitles on Sept. 12. I called the station last week to complain, but CC3 still only displays Spanish, and Service 2 displays nothing. This is the most exciting section of the series, but I'm missing a lot by trying to read Spanish captions. I couldn't wait for Andres to finally catch Debora in her evil lies, and the wonderful summaries I've read here make a lot of sense. Thank you!
-- Mary
Lots of action in last night's episode.
Lola tells Andres about the delivery of the key from Tiberio. He and Lola go to "the bank" and get the recording.
[How did they know what bank the safe deposit box was in? You can't just get into a safe deposit box with a key. You have to be authorized. Trust me. I had a power of attorney for my father that mentioned banking but not specifically safe deposit boxes and his bank would not let me into his safe deposit box. But whatever.]
Lola, Andres and Camilo listen to the recording and are shocked once again at the evil of Debora as we relive Debora handing Soledad over to Tiberio and his agreement to assist her to kill Marcelo in return.
Andres calls the police and they issue a warrant for the arrest of Debora and her parents.
But, of course, by the time the police get to the house, Debora, Vicky and Ramon have slipped out the back and escaped.
Debora has memorialized her dealings with Angel and presumably has it in some safe place other than the envelope she waves in front of his face. She blackmails him into helping her and her parents. He sends them off to a sleazy motel. Debora's disgust at even touching the stuff in the room was funny. They watch themselves be described as dangerous fugitives on TV.
They need money to get out of the country and Ramon has the bright ideal of draining all the accounts at Exportex.
Meanwhile Tiberio brings Soledad to a warehouse with shelves full of what looks like shoe boxes. He has his medicine, guns, amuunition, food and water so they can hide out there for a long time.
Unfortunately, Tiberio has carelessly left the address of the warehouse in his papers. Felix is immediately suspicious about a property that Tiberio rents but never uses. Felix goes over to the place and confirms that Tiberio and Soledad are there. Angel organizes an assault on the place.
Tiberio calls Lola on the phone and says that he is with Soledad. Lola makes an impassioned plea for him to let Soledad go. The arrival of Angel's guys causes him to end the call.
There is a gunfight in the warehouse with poor Soledad, who is tied up and gagged, trying to stay out of the line of fire.
Tiberio is wounded but he apparently defeats the attack.
Debora can't stand it anymore in the motel and leaves.
Tiberio unties Soledad and tells her that she is free.
That's what I recall.
Thanks, Novelera, for your recap of yesterday's epidode. I admire your taking notes. For these recapettes, I just do it from memory.
Last night's episode was pretty easy to do since it was all basically about one thing - the celebration of the anniversary of the founding of Timotes where the 'governor' will be in attendance.
Rafael decides to take Flor to the party surprising Peter and others who assume that he will take his wife.
Catalina decides to go herself and she gets Peter to invite some 'workers': Pablo, Sacto and Evaristo.
It turns out that the picture that Enrique was framed for stealing is going to be unveiled at the party. He is still in prison. A guard finds the cylinder with the painting in it.
Enrique tells Malicia that there is something in his reproduction of the painting that will make it obvious that it isn't the original.
Zahra and most of the girls from the 4P's decide to get Jose Maria (JM) to help them get Rocio out of prison. They descend on JM's house when Rafael is there thus enabling Rafael to warn Mariano about what is happening.
JM and the 4P contingent to to the asylum. It might have been possible for JM to have gotten to see Rocio if he had been alone but with a gaggle of protesting prostitutes in tow, there was no way.
Mariano, meanwhile, takes Rocio out of the asylum and back to his house and tells his stepson to watch her.
Mariano has also ordered his officers to arrest any of the 4P women who are at the asylum. They arrest Zahra and the girls and JM. They are all put into the cell with Enrique.
Brigida goes batsh*t when she finds out that her son was arrested and drags her husband and daughter to the police station to demand that he be released. She says that she will make a scene about his arrest at the party in Timotes.
Lourdes tells her committee of uptight women that if Mariano wins the election, he will eliminate prostitution in Nuevo Esperanza.
Catalina gives Redbeard a bunch of money to keep him quiet about her activities with Sacto. Redbeard dutifully lies to Rafael who is suspicious of why Catalina is no longer afraid of him.
Rafael sends Manuela to take Flor shopping for a party dress in Timotes. Manuela and Ana have different ideas about what is appropriate but she eventually gets a blue gown.
Rafael comes to get Flor for the party and she is a stunner in her new dress with hair and makeup.
There will obviously be fireworks at the party!
Thanks, Jean, there certainly was a lot of action. It was dumb of the police to park right out front of Lola's house, and go in, bragging that that they had the warrant, oblivious to the fact that the Noriegas could see this out their window.
That was funny when Debora, Ramon and Vicki saw they were wanted on TV. Vicki's only gripe was that they used the worst picture of her. Couldn't they have found one more flattering? :)
ITA that how they were able to find the right bank for the safe deposit key, and get access, was unrealistic.
I think Tiberio killed all the other guys except Angel and Felix. He said Soledad was free, but she'll probably stay, since he's wounded, and she's such a kind soul.
I also can't see how they can extend the show, when it seems just about over. Some major new twist has to happen.
As for the continuation of the novela, they did a promo during Flor Salvaje that indicated that a new love interest for Andres is going to show up.
I can see them having Debora escape (or better yet, appear to be dead), then stringing us along with a new love interest for Andres for a while and then having Debora show up again and kidnap the baby for a final confrontation.
Gonzalo DID miss Javier. But Javier gloats, oh you're in trouble now, Gonzalito. I'm gonna sue your a**.
Gonzalo later asks Rebeca for legal help to avoid this. Rebeca is also trying to decipher that email. She goes to the cyber cafe in Huntsford, and Adolfo, disguised in a long coat, beard, long hair, glasses and a beret grins and walks out as they (Rebeca and Gonzalo) walk in. The owner says yes, there was a strange guy here, wearing a coat and hat, which is not usual for Florida.
Diego tells Andrea "farewell". We later find out what he meant, as Pilar discovers that he slit his wrists! It looks as if he'll recover, though.
In Mexico, Hilda's going into labor. It's gonna be a girl. She's happy to see Yolanda, but not happy at all to see Emilio, who instantly gives up all hope, although Yolanda tells him to fight for his love.
Carola, still catatonic, gets out of jail, and comes home. She snubs everyone, her father, her mother, her sister, even Omar, who brought some pretty purple roses. He finally gives up, leaves and throws the flowers on the ground. When Eva goes to check on Carola, she's gone! (as usual)
And Mabel finally lets out her little secret. Although Renato didn't know it, way back when Renato, Eva, Igor and Mabel were friends, Mabel got pregnant by Renato. Her first child is Renato's! (hello, incest! - I think)
I wrote: "Zahra and most of the girls from the 4P's decide to get Jose Maria (JM) to help them get Rocio out of prison."
That should be get Rocio out of the mental asylum, not prison although for her there isn't much distinction. She might not be drugged all the time in a real prison.
Thanks again, Hombre!
"Her (Mabel's) first child is Renato's! (hello, incest! - I think"
You're probably right -- you usually are:) And yet ... assuming Mabel is telling the truth, what if that first child ISN'T Iñaki? Could Matías have been the missing link? Things to consider:
--Mabel told Adolfo that Iñaki was "nada mío" -- not mine, nothing to me. Why? And then Adolfo asked her if she was saying that he and Iñaki weren't brothers. She didn't answer him. But even if Renato were his father, Iñaki would still be her son; and he would be Adolfo's half-brother.
--Renato felt affection for Matías. (And it was reciprocated.) The old 'llamado de la sangre'?
--There would be a creepy symmetry in Eva's choosing Renato's own son as her lover.
--Iñaki's mission to kill off all Mabel's children -- first Iván, then Matías, and last Ismael -- is consistent with an unconscious jealousy and rage at Mabel's rejection.
--We never learned anything about Matías's origins. Maybe Mabel abandoned him. Maybe she traded babies and ended up with Gonzaki. This is the part that makes the least sense. But still...
And of course we still have the mysterious Omar wandering around. He has to be tied in to all this somehow.
Thanks for the recap, Jean. This was sort of a filler episode, except for the last scene, I think.
Flor is doubtful about going to this big celebration when Ana (who is getting nicer, but still has her calculating nature) reminds her that she had told her sisters she wanted power. What better way to show it than coming to this party with the most powerful man in the region.
And, then, her power is demonstrated when Rafael accompanies her to the jail and witnesses her reduce Mariano to speechlessness. She tells him that he is to release the P's and José María immediatamente or she'll tell the Governor at the party what kind of man Mariano Guerrero is and what he's done to his sister since she was little. He doesn't want to end up in a cell, does he?
It seems, from this scene, that Rocío may have told Flor that she was molested by her brother as a child. Up to this point, all we knew for sure was that he had an unhealthy desire for her.
Another thing that was great about the scene in the jail was that Flor had her hair piled on her head and tacones making her taller than Mariano. This was her first big move to becoming a force to reckon with in Nueva Esperanza. I believe this is the way the novela is heading, plotwise.
Also, Lourdes is wising up to this, reacting to his bringing Rocío to be imprisoned in their house so the doctor couldn't get her out. She told him that she was basically fed up with his obsessión enfermo for his sister.
The dress shopping scene was quite funny. Ana kept trying to get Amanda to select some very "hookerish" dresses, while Manuela vetoed them. Ana also tried to stuff one in her big purse, but was caught in the act.
I am SO looking forward to the scene where the obvious thing Enrique did to his copy of the painting embarrasses the crap out of Mariano.
I agree that we are going towards Flor grasping and exercising power. I also can't wait to see what Enrique put in the painting.
Jean/Hombre thank you very much for the recaps. I missed the ending of last night's episode - I think I'm happy that Tiberio made it at least for a while.
I agree with Andres walking away from Lola, it's been only grief. Why should anyone stay with that, besides she marries a man as soon as they say hello to her.
Best scene was with Ramon and Vicky. As noted about her picture on tv, and then they added that now they would not be able to get into the "club". Deborah's look was one of amazement. It sort of reminded me of the way this novela started.
Look forward to tomorrow's recaps, as all my favorite ABC shows are on tonight, so won't be watching.
Jean, Llanero on the Telenovela World site suggested that perhaps Enrique's copy of La Batalla de Timotes included some colonials mooning the Spaniards who had been oppressing them.
1. Emilio mirculously gets his eyesight back in time to see his newborn nina. BUT, in addition to Hilda not wanting anything to do with him, it seems that the baby might be ill with something called Turner Syndrome (????), which necessitates genetic testing of not only the parents, but also the grandparents. When Renata finds out and tells Eva, he says essentially the s...t has hit the fan! Im thinking that Renato might not be the biological father of the Conde kids. Maybe that is how Gonzalo can be his son without there being any incest with the Conde girls. Or maybe Eva is not their biological mother and the children were adopted.
2. Rebecca might be pregnant --with the evil Javier's spawn. When Pilar overhears them talking, she gets Rebecca to admit the truth --that she and Javier have been involved.
3. Carola turns up and meets with Mabel to find out where Adolfo/Ismael --her only true love-- is. I got an image of them in the next episode as their being the next Bonnie and Clyde. (Incidentally, I loved it when Adolfo almost keeled over with laughter in a past episode after he got over on various people. I also notice tht Adolfo is the only one on the show who locks his door after himself).
4.After Diego slits his wrists, Pilar stands up Javier and says she will not send Diego back to school. Javier is quite surprised at this new Pilar --as is the viewer. Finally!!!!
This was a disappointing episode. We basically exchanged Ángel for Tiberio and Soledad is still a prisoner!!
At the warehouse, the gunfight continues. Several times, Ángel has to reload but Tiberio just mocks him, he doesn't take advantage of the opportunity to shoot him.
During one of these episodes, Tiberio tells Soledad to run. She does and Ángel sends Felix in pursuit. So Felix captures Soledad and Tiberio manages to escape in his car!
With Ángel in pursuit, Tiberio heads to Lola's house, where, in accordance with novela conventions, the door isn't even locked so he can march right into the living room. He seems to be about to tell Lola where Soledad is when Ángel marches in with the same ease and shoots him dead.
Even more bizarre, Andres and Rodrigo are next door and Andres sees a strange car in the driveway but doesn't become concerned until they hear a shot. Maybe he thought the door was locked.
Ángel has to go to the police station where it is found that he has a carry permit. His explanation that he was coming to see Lola when he saw Tiberio enter the house with a gun, is accepted.
Soledad is a prisoner again. Sigh.
Lola listens to a tape of Tiberio telling her about her inheritance but she tells Camilo she doesn't want it.
Ramon and Vicky decide to try and leave town but Débora doesn't want to go. She wants REVENGE! (and Andres).
That was about it.
Great recapette, NJ Sue! You covered all the major points in 4 short paragraphs. You may be right about Renato's fatherhood.
Some minor things I found interesting:
- Ignacia crying and crying, it's not fair that I don't have a kid, when Hilda does. Gonzalo gets cruel, saying you're not fit to be a mother, you don't even know if you shot that stud muffin.
- Renato trying to apologize more to Igor. But now he may have to tell him some more painful truths.
- Another rose came for Pilar (can't they lock that window?). She told Javier it's definitely not from Gonzalo, but she didn't tell him she suspects it's from Ricardo Merino.
- Rebeca's not totally sure she's pregnant (I think the blood test takes a day or two), but she is a month "late". What happened to birth control? Somebody wasn't thinking too clearly.
-- I think Carola was calling Mabel "Mommy" or Mami, maybe to show how she feels close to her.
-- I think Mabel did agree to introduce Renato to his son, at some later time.
Pilar is not going to be happy with Rebeca's revelation that "Javier has recently been cheating on you...with me" What a way to put it.
Yes, I want to see that Bonnie and
Clyde stuff.
Thanks for the summary Jean. I agree with you about the silly telenovela conventions that keep the good people from discovering the truth.
There is a little hope, since a bum saw Soledad hid behind a trash can, and then was taken away by a big guy (Felix). He told the police. Maybe he can ID Felix from a photo.
Since Debora, Ramon and Vicki's pictures were all over the news, they could be spotted going to the market for food at some point. Ramon was filmed withdrawing money from an ATM.
I don't see how Lola accepts Angel's weak explanation that he was protecting Lola when he shot Tiberio. Lola was right there, and it wasn't like that at all.
Tonight should be good.
Thanks, NJ Sue -- bien hecho! Great comments, Hombre.
So right now the only two characters who are/were, for a fact, biologically related to one another are -- ISMAEL and IVAN!
The karyotype thing is a little weird. It's unclear why, outside of a research setting, you'd need to test grandparents; but even if you did, all you'd learn is whether the people tested had a gross chromosomal anomaly. It's not the same thing as DNA testing to see if two people are related.
Unless, of course, the big family secret is that Renato and/or Eva are actually ALIENS! (Which, in the case of Eva, wouldn't require a lot of beanie adjusting.)
Hombre, tsk, tsk. The man who tried to protect Soledad should be described as "unhoused", not as a bum.....kidding!!
Great recapettes and comments so far. Not much to add, except I was also frustrated Soledad didn't get away. Guess they're waiting until the gran final.
While Tiberio was actually in love with Soledad, Ángel has qualms about offing her because: a)She was his mother's best friend, and b)She might be a useful chess piece down the road. Actually, I'm starting to miss Tiberio. I don't like the character of Ángel one bit. And I agree that Lola should have been more suspicious of his blowing away her papí, especially since he was dying anyway.
Right now this is my favorite novela. I suppose that could change if they get to the point where Mi Corazón is now, where they're obviously stretching out the plot.
The character development of Amanda becoming Flor has been very well acted, in my opinion, by Mónica Spear. She tells Rafa that she doesn't want him to bribe Mariano; she wants to win or lose by herself.
There was an excellent scene between Rafa and Mariano. Mariano was practically unhinged that he'd been challenged by a woman and told Rafa he had been dominated by a woman. Rafa, cold as ice, told him El único hombre aquí con un problema de faldas eres tú. Y lo que es peor, es con tu propia hermana. When Mariano asks him what he's insinuating, Rafa replies he's not insinuating anything; he's saying it right to his face. Mariano lunges, but Rafa already has a gun in his face.
The P's are going to have to spend the night in jail, but they'll be released in the morning.
Meanwhile, a fight in the 4P bar turns into chaos in the whole town as the lack of what Rafa called a "safety valve" of the ladies of the evening isn't available.
Zahra is obviously jealous of Rafa taking Flor to the Governor's party. For the first time, Flor confronts her about it and seems to be challenging Zahra's position as their leader.
Rafa is getting nicer and nicer faster and faster. He smiles at Enrique and tells him he's going to give him a headline for the newspaper: "Jefe Civil Toma Medidas Drásticas para Promover su Candidatura a la Alcaldía.
When Rafa and Flor arrive at the party, Cat is standing beside the Governor and snarks about him bringing a prostitute from the 4 P's to this party. Later on, when Cat asks why he would bring such a creature, he tells her that right now he doesn't see a bit of difference between she and Flor.
Pablo continues in denial, telling Sacto she's only pretending to care about Rafa to hurt him. Later he tries to explain and grabs her to kiss her forcibly. He's shot down. He tries saying Rafa is also married, but she points out that Rafa didn't lie about it. She finally tells him that, even if he were born again, she wouldn't go back to him.
Mariano presents the painting to the Governor, larding on how great his police dept is for recovering it.
Flor leaves the party after being insulted by Lourdes and Frigida in the women's. She goes to spend the night in solidarity with the P's, slapping a guard so he'll lock her up.
Rafa and Mariano have a final nose to nose moment when Rafa tells him that it wasn't Flor; that M himself caused him to lose respect. If he continues on this moralistic path, other towns will erupt. Right now, we're quits. I guess this means no more campaign contributions.
When the Gov chastises Rafa for bringing Flor, he reminds him that the campesinos and workers are the ones who have the votes.
A worker brings the real painting in the plastic tube to the Gov. Yippee. I was afraid Mariano overheard Enrique and Alicia and was going to find it. The Gov says, if this is the original, then the man in jail is innocent.
Lourdes returns home after the party to find Rocío and her son, Vicente, missing. Another Yippee. Maybe she'll have better luck than Soledad in Mi Corazon.
It's very interesting that Rafa is breaking with Mariano. Whatever Enrique did to his copy of the painting wasn't that obvious. I guess that makes sense since he wouldn't want Mariano to figure it out.
How did Rafa find out about Mariano and his sister? Did Flor tell him?
Jean, in the very last scene of Tuesday's episode, Flor - in her party dress - stands outside the cell where the P's are and basically calls Mariano out. She says that if he doesn't release the P's right away she'll tell the Governor at the party what kind of man he is and what he did to his sister since she was little. Rafa was standing there, and we got a look at his face looking grim after she said this to Mariano.
I think Rafa added two and two and got four. The fact that Mariano had his not-crazy sister locked up in the nuthouse, ordered the staff to not let even the doctor see her, and having heard what Flor said to him convinced him.
Novelera, great job on the recap. Like you I'm enjoying this one more and more. I agree with you about the acting my Monica Spears, really good. Lots of good actors in this one.
When Flor went on her own for a drink and Rafa asked to accompany her, when she said no, gracias...that little smirk on his face was great. He's a pretty good actor too Like that little smile he had when Flor named her horse Angel because of Diablo...very real moments and don't seem forced.
Catalina looked amazing last night but she did go way overboard. I loved the scene between her and Flor when she tried to appologize and Flor really put her in her place.
Gonna be cool to see Flor rise to even more power.
The scenes with Piruetas are hard to watch, too bad they can't give him more substance instead of boring filler...ahh well I can't complain, couple of bumps on the FF button and back to the action...
Looking forward to seeing the painting situation unfold. I'm thinking his signature is hidden somewhere in the painting, or possible Marianos name.
Not too much of a surprise, I was right that the Conde children are adopted. Renato calls Emilio and Ignacia to his study to give them the news. Eva tries to keep them from going....
Rebecca may or may not be pregnant. The news is out and Pilar will have nothing to do with her...except that Rebecca tries to convince her it isn't so but part of her PLAN. Will Pilar fall for this???
Igor Mora, drinking from the same fountain as Emilio, suddenly gets his speech back, and is able to haltingly say to Ignacia
Inaki" and "Tu." Unfortuntely it is a question of time whether he will be done in by Gonzalo or by a slight fever he has developed. Will her or won't he be able to shed some light on Inaki???
Rebecca breaks Adolfo's e mail code, but unfortunately shares her knowledge with Gonzalo.
I looked up Turner Syndrome, and it is the absence of a X chromosome in a female, which results in health issues like heart defects, daibetes, vision problems, and autoimmune diseases, as well as cognitive deficits in memory, visual-spatial and mathematical ability. It also results in physical problems, including shortness, low set ears and webbed necks. as well as broad chests and swelling. Oy vey!!!!! I agree with NovelaM. I don't think the grandparents' DNA is crucial, but it is a good plot device.
Thanks, NJ Sue! Yes, you were right -- the Conde kids are adopted.
A few more tidbits from last night:
Adolfo is furious to find Carola crouching in the dark in his 'escondite'. He throws her out and mutters about having to find a new hide-out. But it's not so easy to get rid of her. She lurks outside and rushes back in the next time Adolfo opens the door.
Finally she seems to convince Adolfo she's on his side -- we're two of a kind, she tells him -- in the war against the familia Conde. But she'll have to prove her utility and her loyality with a little test... [and which family member do we think she'll be assigned to eliminate?]
-----------------
The viewer gets a glimpse of a wall covered with photos of Pilar and a shadowy figure in the background. Someone -- Ricardo Merino or someone posing as him? -- is still stalking Pilar.
---------------------------
Rebeca figures out that the email clues refer to a book ("La Casa de al Lado" by Anderson Chuncler) published on Nov 6, 1938 and located in some branch of the Miami Public Library. She finds an online synopsis of the plot: Two families in neighboring luxury houses are killed off, one by one, until no one is left standing.
Will Rebeca herself be exempted from the curse because she is technically no longer living in la casa de al lado?
[Unlike the earlier literary reference, "And Then There Were None", "La Casa" doesn't really exist. Is the writer just repeating himself or is there something more interesting going on with this new "clue"?]
Really, not much going on here. We were treated to long scenes of Debora driving around in disguise and having flashbacks of wrongs done to her by Lola and Andres. Warning to drivers: having flashbacks can affect your driving and cause accidents!
Otherwise, Lola tells Camilo to take her inheritance from Tiberio and establish a foundation to help women who are the victims of sexual trafficing.
Dumb ol' Ramon makes a deal to buy false papers from a guy but it is a sting operation run by the police and he is arrested.
He wouldn't have gotten to use the papers anyway because Angel, through Felix, has ordered that Vicky and Ramon take care of Soledad. (I guess Angel's outfit is low on henchmen after the bloodbath at the warehouse.)
Lopez ids Felix as the person who tried to kill Adelita and he is now being sought by the police.
Ramon refuses to talk to the police and asks for a lawyer. In fact, he asks for Angel to be his lawyer. This raises eyebrows at the police.
Angel comes to see Ramon and tells him that he is a corporate lawyer and doesn't represent criminals. He recommends another lawyer. [The police were listening to this conversation, which is totally against the law. Communication with your lawyer is privileged.]
Adelita is in no hurry to marry or make plans to marry Lopez.
Andres tells Danny and some other guy that they have to basically start from scratch to bring Exportex back. Danny suggests hiring Angel as a lawyer but fortunately, Andres nixes that saying that he doesn't trust Angel.
I think that was about it.
Fascinating comments, NJ Sue and NovelaMaven, and good call about the Conde kids' being adopted. So if Gonzalo is Renato's son with Mabel, there was no incest. I wonder if Ismael and Ivan were children of Igor Mora and Eva. There's no evidence for that, but it would provide a sort of macabre symmetry.
I still think Adolfo/Ismael is posing as Ricardo Merino, and sending all the roses, etc., but I could easily be wrong.
I sure hope Rebeca is telling the truth when she tells Pilar that the pregnancy was a lie, and she has a plan. Javier is really suffering through all this (especially when Andrea happily hugs Rebeca), and I want him to continue to suffer.
I would like to see Carola's loyalty test to be to kill Eva. However, it's much more likely she'll be assigned Ignacia.
Thanks for the recapette, Jean. The other guy rehired at Exportex is León, who is computer expert, I think.
That famous interrogation room is different each time, depending on the needs of the story. A while back, I wished the cops DID listen in (Bobby talking to Ramon), but figured they didn't because it's illegal. This time they didn't care. But of course Ángel and Ramon knew full well they were being watched, and gave a great performance.
Camilo tried in vain to convince Andrés to give Lola another chance, but since Camilo hasn't read the script, he doesn't realize that can't happen for a few more months.
Débora seems to want revenge on Andrés now, not to get him back.
I liked how when Vicki put down Soledad, saying you've been a prisoner all this time, you should be used to it, Soledad shot back, "you're in a much worse prison, wanted by the law, and in danger from your associates, despite your wealth, etc."
Lola was wearing one of the shortest dresses imaginable, fuschia, with cutouts. At one point she walked out of the police station, and a male employee did NOT look at her legs. Very unrealistic! :) Later, she wore some great workout outfits, suitably lowcut in front.
I know there's no reason for them to do it, but if the cops would decide to follow Angel, they'd solve the entire case.
I know the Conde daughters are barking mad, but Carola's latest stunt takes the cake. She tells Ismael over and over that her family abandoned her. However, she refused to see them when they did come.
How sweet it was to see Javier exposed to Pilar! Of course, with this lunacy fest anything can happen. But I do, this time, believe Pilar is done with him. I was surprised we weren't treated to another sobbing episode on his part.
Eva also is nuts. She tries to tell her children not to go see their father when they live in the same house? And - what is so truly, truly awful about being adopted?
This novela just keeps getting better and better.
The chicas de los 4 P are resenting Flor announcing she's in charge of the grand re-opening of the Bar.
Having found out from Olga that Flor is the woman of Urrieta, Lucía is horrified and thinks he knows. Pablo tells her what she thinks doesn't make sense. If he knew, they'd both be dead. He warns her that no one can know about it. She tries to seduce him, but he asks her to please not be pathetic.
Lourdes is enraged that her son is gone because of Mariano's bringing Rocío there. She calls him depravado. This marriage of convenience looks shaky.
The Governor has an art expert in to review the two paintings. Oh, what a rich joke Enrique played!! One of the soldiers in La Gran Batalla de Timotes is brandishing a light saber a la Obi Wan Kenobi in Star Wars!!
Ana is stirring up all kinds of trouble, taunting the P's that her sister is going to put her foot on Zahra. Zahra tells Olga that Amanda is like a wounded dog that even bites the hand of the owner who's fed it.
Flor is bolder and bolder with Rafa. In this episode she asks him when he's going to divorce his wife and marry her. We don't see his answer.
Cat tries another insult, asking her maid to send her dress from the party to Flor, since she already has the rest of her used clothes. When the maid (forget her name) asks her if she hates her because of Rafa, she replies it's because of Sacto. She knows he still loves her.
Piruetas does the nicest thing yet and helps Rocío and Vicente hide in José María's new consultorio. JM then agrees to hide them in his house/office until he can get them to safety. But Helicopter Mom Frigida is bustling around his new quarters invading his space and has asked someone to get the keys to open his locked bedroom where they're hiding.
The petroleros are furious with Mariano for arresting the P's and the outrage of sending armed police into Nueva Esperanza.
Lucía goes to see Rafa and they have a classic miscommunication. She tells him her husband is involved with one of his workers. He assumes she means Pablo with Zahra and tells her he knows about it. She assumes he doesn't care if Flor is sleeping with both of them!
Mariano Guerrero is called on the carpet and embarrassed when the light saber is pointed out to him in the copy. He goes to the jail, furious, and Enrique tells him he already told him he copied famous paintings. Mariano tells him he's going to adjust accounts with Alicia, somewhat spoiling my enjoyment of that confrontation.
Zahra and Flor have a very sad falling out. Flor starts out trying to calm her, saying they can work together. Things escalate and Zahra slaps Flor. I'm not liking Ana's role in this. Every time Flor softens toward Zahra and/or the other women, Ana drips poison in her ear.
José María goes to Rafa asking him to help get Rocío (and Vicente? don't remember) out of town.
"And - what is so truly, truly awful about being adopted?"
About BEING adopted, Novelera? Nothing. About ADOPTING? Well, if you are a person obsessed with appearances and you adopted because you were infertile -- you are exposed as being imperfect. And your perfect family is also exposed as illusory. [Although that ship sailed some time ago, one would think.]
Of course it's possible that Renato and Eva are committed to Zero Population Growth and rescued their children from a squalid orphanage in Romania but not soon enough to prevent severe psychologoical damage.
Or maybe not:)
I believe Catalina's maid is named Luisa.
Such interesting character switches: Rafa who was bad clear through and Catalina, his victim are becoming more gray - Rafa better and Catalina worse.
Flor who as the sacrificial victim and Zahra, the prostitute with the heart of gold are becoming more gray as Flor flexes her power with Rafa and Zahra is heading for wanting vengeance.
The governor was funny asking if they needed to call in an art expert - only if you want to look ridiculous says the guy who examined the paintings.
Was that true love when Jose Maria looked into Rocio's bruised face? I wondered which of the chicas de la cuatro P he would fall for. At least he didn't appear to succumb to Amanda's charms.
It had to be Piruetas who helped Rocio and Vincente - just about everybody else from the 4P's was in jail!
That Ana is a little witch.
Thanks for the fashion commentary, Hombre. I confess I am so used to Lola's skimpy outfits and not having an Y chromosome, I didn't even notice the fuschia one. I did notice (as did Angel) her low cut workout outfit.
Yes, if the police followed Angel, they could solve the whole case but we know that won't happen. Angel will bamboozle everyone until it is time for all the pieces to fall together magically. I guess that means Soledad will be a prisoner until close to the gran final since she knows Angel is a baddie.
Whoops, clarification required. Lucía tells Rafa her husband Pablo is involved with one of the prostitutes, not one of the workers. Pablo is definitely not gay!
Hombre and Jean: that fuschia dress of Lola's with the cut out sides is the one she wore to testify at Andres' murder trial. Guess maybe she thought it would impress the jury?
I will certainly miss Tiberio; the writers gave him enough humanity to make us sorry to see him die.
