La Que No Podía Amar #47 Thursday 3/1/12 The Woman Who Couldn't Get a Man to Stick With Her Despite a Perpetually Bared Midriff

Your recap this morning will be in installments so you junkies…er, devotees?...can get your fix ASAP. When the title is complete, that's your full recap.

Ana Paula lets Rosaura know that she's seen Gustavo and she knows he's alive. Rosaura turns on the waterworks and begs for forgiveness, but AP's having none of it! She only married Rogelio because she knew she'd never be able to love anyone else. Rosaura tries the "I was doing what I thought was best for you" approach, but the unexpected response to that is for the main theme song to play.

Rogelio tells Maria that yes, he did send Efrain out on an errand. He's going to bring back the guy who bought the horse from Ana Paula. And when he gets her back, he'll make her suffer. Nobody betrays Rogelio Montero, blah, blah, blah.

Rosaura seems to be making headway in convincing Ana Paula that when she saw Gustavo AP was already married, so she told her not to hurt her. She hoped AP would come to love Rogelio. AP whines that the marriage was only by contract, and only for a year. Rosaura says she thought it's what AP's mom would have done, to keep her from suffering…"No matter what I do, I'll never be able to live up to your mother." I'm not even going to touch that one!

Gus calls Mercedes, who's having a great time at the hacienda. Gus doesn't want to talk to Cinthia and asks Mercedes not to say anything about him coming back the next day. Mercedes is going home tomorrow, so she hopes to see him before she goes. She thinks Gus sounds tired, but he says he'll talk to her about it tomorrow.

Rosaura says she's going to come clean about something, just to prove that AP's well-being is of the utmost importance to her…she moved heaven and earth to find Federico. She knows one of AP's biggest regrets is not having more time with her father…well, dun, dun, dun, now she gets to spend time with him because her father is…Darth Vader! No, wait, sorry, her father is Federico Galvan. AP is impactada. Can I get a "No puede ser!"? No, apparently not right this moment.

Federico is hanging out with Margarito, who rats out Rogelio for being grouchy and a little too free with his whip hand. Fed doesn't want Margarito OR Ana Paula to go back to the hacienda, and he's going to do what he can so Vanessa doesn't go back either…even though Margarito says she's a tough broad and Rog wouldn’t do anything to her. Margarito is glad Fed cares about his daughter and wishes he had a dad like that. Fed says if he had a son, he'd like the son to be like Margarito. Alas, now he's just going to have to wait on grandkids. They agree that Margarito can be his #1 Grandson, postizo (pretend).

AP asks if Rosaura is sure that Fed, Vanessa's dad, is also her dad. "Where did you get that idea?" Rosaura says she always knew. "Then why didn't you tell me?!" Rosaura says she's always known, but she promised AP's mother on her deathbed not to tell, so they'd never find out their mom had had a fling with a married man. And so instead, she took on the arduous task of raising the two kids on her own. Ay, esa Rosaura! Como se dice "NO-GOOD, LYING, TACKY BEEYOTCH" en español?

Vanessa asks David to keep things quiet, because it's just too painful for her and her mother. He offers to be her shoulder to cry on. As he's leaving, Vanessa's cell phone rings. It's Cinthia, and she's calling to report that Rog told her that AP will be back soon. "Tell me you didn't tell him where to find her?!" Vanessa says no way she did that and the Mean Girls bond over how they both thought they were rid of AP and they just absolutely hate her. Mercedes comes in to report that she brought Rogelio to the dining room, like he asked, though they can't figure out why he wanted her to do it. Cinthia giddily tells her that Rogelio told her that Gustavo called. Mercedes admits that even though Gustavo wanted her to keep it a secret, he's coming back to the hacienda tomorrow "to see you!" And then they braid each other's hair, hold hands, and skip through the cow patties.

Rosaura says that AP's mom fell hard for Fed…he was good looking, rich, kind, a gentleman. Mariana was only married because Miguel's dad wouldn't give her a divorce. Plus he was a violent drunk. Mariana was so good, and wanted to help him join AA, but he never would. "I have no reason to lie to you." *snort* Rosaura tells her to hear Fed's side of the story and try to understand her. "Easier said than done! You know how his daughter's going to take it when she finds out we have the same dad?"

Van's mom counsels her to get Fed back to Tuxtla ASAP, and then convince him to buy the lands for her and put them in her name. "Of course! If Rogelio wants them, he'll have to negotiate with me!" Mami tells her Esteban came looking for her again. Vanessa isn't pleased.

Rosaura tells her not to worry about Vanessa. "It's not just that! It's the idea that Federico is my father…I don't know. I'm so confused!" Rosaura reminds her that Fed can help her in ways she can't. "He's your only way out if you don't want to go back to Rogelio." AP says Gustavo is going to help her (Wait, did I miss something? Why is Gustavo going to help her? I thought he wanted nothing to do with her because he thinks she's a faithless cheater?) and besides, if Fed is her dad, why did he leave her mom alone? Why did he never help when her mom was sick? Why hasn't he had anything to do with her until just now? "Because he didn't know either. I just told him."

Esteban asks Chio when Mercedes is coming back. She asks if they can go pick her up together from the bus station. Chio is still pushing for more, but Esteban makes it clear he think of her as a friend.

Rogelio, Mercedes, and Cinthia have a drink. Rogelio thinks it's a shame Mercedes is leaving so soon, but he hopes she enjoyed her time there. As much as he hopes Gustavo enjoys his time there…because there's a lot of stuff he needs done and he'd like Gustavo to work for him. More giddy laughing and clinking of glasses. Even Rogelio grins. Faker.

Miguel is up in his room moping. Maria brings him some dinner, plus an extra piece of flan from yesterday. Miguel has heard that AP is coming back soon. Maria says Rogelio has a lead, but that's it. Miguel would rather she was far from there. "I should help her, protect her, but all I do is get her into trouble. I hope Rogelio doesn't bring her back to this prison!"

Rosaura goes to get some air and let AP think. She smiles to herself as she leaves. TACKY. Federico comes in, calling AP "hija" (daughter). He's happy that she's the product of the love he and her mother had. "Then why didn't you get divorced and marry her if you loved her so much?"

Rog is disappointed to hear that the guy who bought the horse didn't want to come back with Efrain. He wanted to be reimbursed for the money he spent on the horse. Rogelio berates him for not giving the guy the money and says it's on Efrain's head if anything happens to AP or Margarito.

Fed explains that Elsa threatened to take Vanessa away and he didn't know that Mariana was pregnant. He swears AP was the product of love, not just an affair, and if he'd known about her, he would have found a way to be close to both his daughters. "Your mother was the love of my life." AP has a hard time believing that. Fed gives her the letter her mother wrote: "Federico, my love, you don't know how much I miss you. Even though I was the one who decided never to see you again. I told you I would never see you again because I can't make you choose between our love and your daughter. I can't let Elsa take Vanessa away and never let you see her again. But I want you to know you've left me the greatest gift in the last few days we spent together. A little piece of you that will live forever--I'm going to be a mother, and I'm happy! I love this baby, and I know if you were a free man, you'd be with me to take care of it and raise it. But we met at the wrong time and we can't base our happiness on the unhappiness of someone else. I hope she's a girl, the way we both would have liked. I promise I'll always care for this baby and I'll see you in him or her. I love you and I'll always love you, Mariana." "Ana Paula…I am your father! I swear if I had known before, I would have found a way to be with you. I hope you'll give me the chance now. Daughter, can I give you a hug?" They hug…awww!

Maria brings Miguel in to talk to Rogelio. He asks Rog not to bring his sister back there. "I'll stay in her place. I'll work, I'll do whatever you want, but leave my sister alone." Rogelio said what AP did was wrong and she's going to pay for it. He calls Maria to take Miguel back to his room.

AP is worried about a lot of things, but primarily Vanessa. Fed says it won't be easy, but he'll get her to accept it. He says Vanessa is good (*snort*) and loves him. He'll work it all out. He can't waste this opportunity. He wants everyone to know she's his daughter and he wants her to have his name, like she should have. AP says they'll talk more tomorrow. She needs more time to take it all in. Fed says he feels freer now that she knows the truth, and he hopes she knows she can count on him.

Vanessa assures Fed she's on her way to the office. She tells Elsa that he sounds better. Elsa pressures her more to get Fed back there, get him to buy the land, and keep him from looking from his other daughter. Ha!

Bruno calls Rogelio and reports he's on his way with Dany, but Rosaura has gone AWOL. He thought maybe Rosaura went back to the hacienda to see Miguel. He doesn't know where else she could be. Rogelio assumes this means she's probably with Ana Paula. Bruno tells Dany that Rog is furious, and Rosaura better be going back to the hacienda.

Fed and Rosaura walk along the beach. Fed muses he never got to travel with Mariana. Rosaura says Mariana's sacrifice was worth it if Fed's marriage was saved by it. Fed says not really, Elsa's been torturing him since then. "Aw, Fed, you're such a good guy. You have a right to be happy! You sacrificed yourself for Vanessa, but she's a grown woman now." Fed thinks it's too late for him to find someone else. He can never forget Mariana. He calls Rosaura the best sister-in-law. HA!

AP is happy to have a father, but she's thinking about Gustavo. Even if he helps her get a divorce from Rogelio, that doesn't mean she can get back together with Gustavo. She thinks he's started a thing with Carmen, but Margarito gives her the real story--that's just what Melina wanted, but Gustavo is still in love with AP and even left Carmen's house. AP is giddy, thinking she's got a chance.

Gustavo is show in by Consuelo. Cinthia hugs him enthusiastically, calling him "mi amor" and tells him she told Rogelio they're dating and Rogelio is very interested in him. He wants Gustavo to work at the hacienda for a while. Oops!

AP was going to back off, but if Gustavo's not dating someone new…"They you can be back together again! Melina heard Gustavo tell her mom that he's in love with you!" He advises her to "descasate" (un-marry yourself) from the boss and "casate" (marry) Gustavo. Ah, if only it were that easy. AP's willing to give it a try.

Cinthia tells Gustavo that her brother's opinion is important which is why she…Gustavo cuts her off and says they have to talk. He's sorry to have to say this, she's a great gal, he likes her a lot, but he doesn't love her and he can't stay with her.

Fed and AP get together. AP is feeling better, but still being a little formal with him. He hopes she'll get over that. Too bad they have to share this meal with Rosaura. AP just kept remembering so many things, and she couldn't sleep, but he sees things differently today. She's happy to have a father. Margarito chimes in and says she's also happy to be getting back together with her boyfriend, alarming Rosaura.

Cinthia doesn't understand. She thought he cared about her. "That's why I need to be honest with you. I found my ex. I'm not back together with her, but I realized I can't forget her, and that's not fair to you." Cinthia warns him she won't give him a second chance. "Well, did she break up with her other guy?" Rogelio comes in and tells Cinthia to go get Mercedes while he talks to Gustavo about the jobs. Gus says he can't work for him. He doesn't know if Cinthia will like it since he just broke up with her. He's not back with his ex, and she's with someone else..."The woman who would do that to you would do it again, so think about what you're doing. When you doubt the person you love, your life turns into a living hell," opines Rogelio.

AP is determined to get back together with Gus, despite the short time they were together before. Rosaura disapproves, but Fed is all about the power of true love and approves of her trying to get Gus back.

Cin tells Mercedes that Gus broke up with her and went back to his ex. Mercedes thinks he's a dumbass for doing it. Cinthia is furious, but she says she'll get over it. Mercedes comforts her and says she still wants them to be friends, but she understands if Cinthia doesn't want to.

AP goes to talk to Fermin. Melina takes Margarito to show him something. Carmen comes in just as AP asks where to find Gustavo. Carmen tells her to leave him alone and quit hurting him. "I didn't do it on purpose! I need to tell him my marriage is just a contract!" She tells Carmen it's a long story, but she's not sleeping with the guy she's married to. Carmen thinks it's bull. AP appeals to Fermin and he tells her that Gus didn't go back to Tuxtla. He's staying in the same bungalows she is. Big resort town like that and there's only one hotel?

Gus tells Rog he'll think about it, but he's got to finish the jobs he has right now. Cinthia and Mercedes come in and Rog asks if Cin is ok with Gus working there. She says it's fine. Rog doesn't like goodbyes so he says he's taking off. Cin takes him to his office and Mercedes rips into him. Gus says his feelings for Cinthia aren't that deep, so it's better to break up with her. He says he won't discuss this with her, but they do have some things to talk about. "Why didn't you tell Ana it was my father who had died and not me?" Mercedes looks guilty.

Ana goes to the front desk and gets Gustavo's bungalow number, but also hears he's not coming back until later that night.

Vanessa is impressed with David, but advises him to use the money he'll get for the land to pay off Rogelio. She also thanks him for coming with her to an audit, which he says she handled really well. Van is being pretty heavy handed, oozing sex appeal all over the place. Elsa comes over to see if they reached an agreement on the land, which they did. All they need is Fed to close the deal. David looks disturbed by Vanessa's kiss on the cheek. Elsa seems to approve. Vanessa tries to get her to be more involved in the business, but Elsa is more concerned with haranguing Vanessa about getting Fed back to Tuxtla. They hit on the idea of telling Fed he's needed to help her with the audit. Vanessa whines to him on the phone that she can't handle it. Fed says she's done well and he's proud of her, but if she needs him then he's on the way. Fed tells AP and Rosaura about the call. Rosaura suggests they all go back together, but AP won't leave until she's talked to Gustavo. "I have to clear things up with him!" Fed understands. "Go back without me, dad." Rosaura is worried Rogelio will find her, but AP brushes it off, saying she'll hide in the bungalow if she has to. Fed decides that AP is more important than a business problem and he's going to stay until the next day, so he can meet Gustavo.

Rogelio tells Cinthia he's sorry things didn't work out with Gustavo either. "That makes 3." He insists he's not making fun of her. Cinthia reminds him that one woman left him at the altar and the other one ditched him right after marrying him. Efrain comes in and says the guy with the lead has disappeared. "See! Gustavo doesn't want me, but at least he's not my husband. Do you know what they call you in town? El Abandonado!" (The one who was abandoned.) Rog starts to go after her with the whip, but Efrain gets in the way again…just for a second, then he walks out.

Tomorrow: AP and Gus smooch; AP and Gus hang out on the beach while the announcer hints at impending nookie.

Oh, my...this is a new comment screen! OK, the short version...trying not to overwork myself making too much chocolate, but at the same time it's a concert week (again!) AND my agent sent me on an audition AND a booking! I'm an extra in a Texas Rangers commercial. I don't know when or where it's going to air, but if I ever see it online, I'll post a link. For all I know, all you can se is my shoulder and hair, but that's still pretty cool :)

OK, back to the recap....

Making chocolate? You must update us on that along with your audition.

Gracias for posting and good work.

Fed is one of the few likable male characters at this point. He needs to get to his lawyer ASAP before Elsa la Vipora poisons him. And I do mean that literally.

While I believe that Vainessa loves her father she is too eager to fall in with her mother's selfish and evil schemes. I've had some difficulty in the last few episodes figuring out which of these two is the more evil.

Miguel scored two points from me for being willing to sacrifice himself for his sister. However he's got a long way to go to make up for past stupidities.

Tia MentiRosa barely saved her own dignity when Fed let her know he wasn't looking for love anymore. At least she knew when to cool her jets that time.

Lady Chatterley is becoming seriously delusional about her own charms.

When Cupcake comes into her inheritance she should see her aunt's true colors.

www.facebook.com/Sweetsby5ftLatina has pictures and stuff. The web page does too, www.5ftLatina.com/sweets

So far, all that's really going on is I'm making chocolates and taking them to an arts fair in Tempe to sell.

Gosh, I guess I could have summed up the whole episode with "AP knows Fed is her father now." Other than that, lots of seeds planted, but nothing really happening just yet. I do like the possibilities that are now opened up by having Fed in AP's corner. Rogelio won't find her easy prey.

Ooh, hey, what's the deal...we can't get comment notifications anymore?

Thank you 5ft for this great snarky recap. Loved the HA comments. I can't beleive the Tia was hitting on Fed too funny.

I am glad the Cupcake didn't let the Tia get away with knowing the Guscake was alive this whole time and looking for her. Maybe the Cupcake will slowly see what the Tia is really like.

Best part of the show tonight was the Cupcake and Fed. Finally she knows the truth now. I loved their scenes together.

Urban-agree with you about Miguel.

It was an ironic scene with Rohell and Guscake, if they only knew they were talking about the same Cupcake. I wonder if the Tia will call Rohell and tell him where the Cupcake is now, since the Cupcake keeps talking about the Guscake, which puts a real crimp in the Tia's plans.

Agree with you Urban too about Vainy and the Viper. Vainy does love her Dad, but the Viper is so determined to get venganza she is pulling Vainy into it.

I think Sin really has no experience with men, except for Effer. I thought at first that with Effer it was mainly sexual passion, but now I think it is more. She rushed with David and again with Guscake, she was really using the two of them to get her inheritance. Is Effer the manager of this hacienda?
I know he is like Rohell's right hand man in the affairs of the estate. What I am trying to get at is why couldn't Sin just date Effer openly? Is it class distinction?

Thank you so much for the recap so far - it's on spot. "Como se dice "NO-GOOD, LYING, TACKY BEEYOTCH" en español?" OMG that is exactly what I'd call her... She and Bruno are the only ones (so far) who have been straight-out evil. Rogelio is an ass of a slave-owner, but I've not heard of him ordering anyone to die. Even he has his limits in comparison to them.

The Fed/AP moments were cute.

At this point, I am dreading the Cupcake reunion that was shown in avances. Maybe they've both been so stupid the past couple episodes, it makes me want to doom their happiness :)

Oh and 5ft break a leg with your audition.

Thanks for the recap Kat and break a leg at your audition.

Thanks for the recap, 5 ft.

I wish Cupcake would get back to the Hacienda, because her scenes with Rogelio are the most interesting to watch. And I am really looking forward to how he reacts to her when she finally gets back --as Im sure she will. Re Fed: it would be logical that he would help her get out of Rohell's clutches, etc. That is why I am afraid that he is either going to have another heart attack or die. There is no way that she doesn't wind up back there given all the episodes coming up. And they would have to get Fed out of the way to help her...unless she will have to go back because of Miguel and Rohell's holding the reins of his imprisonment again (remember:deal with David). Or maybe she AND GUS would go back, with his accepting a job until she fulfills the contract.Interesting possibilities....

Thanks 5 ft and good luck on the audition.

This show is unwatchable for me right now. I don't like how it's turning. If AP and Rog are meant to be together, then Tia needs to speak up right now about Bruno and the "murder". AP needs to know that Rog had nothing to do with it. Quickly too before the cakes go all the way. But if this TN is like all the rest, Gus and AP can't get back together because it's too early in the novela. What would they do with the rest of the episodes?

I thought that Rog knows that Gus is the former boyfriend. Didn't he see his picture on the driver's license?

Poor Cin. She's got to be the most eligible bachelorette in Mexico, rich, beautiful, and desperate, and she can't land a man.

Kat, thanks for the wonderful recap. I don't know how you do it all - best of luck in your audition.

"Can I get a "No puede ser!"? No, apparently not right this moment" and "And then they braid each other's hair, hold hands, and skip through the cow patties" were my favorite lines.

Give Gus credit for letting Cin down quickly and gently. I didn't take too much stock in her tears, I suspect she will rebound quickly, using Efrain once again. I hope he grows a backbone and rejects her. As if...

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Thank you so much for the recap, 5ft! Hilarious and snarky, as usual. I love your TACKY asides. Break a leg and our best wishes are with you.

This episode is a little more interesting than the episode before it, because it had the lovely meeting of Fed and Cupcake, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Tia is a bit delusional (but then isn't she always?) in regard to her chances with Fed. As in, ZERO chance with Fed.

Interesting and ironic conversation between Gus and Rohell, when they're talking about being jilted by the same Cupcake but don't know it. Rohell's face revealed a moment of torment, as he said that not knowing if she loves you or not is "hell." I felt kinda sorry for him there. And I do think he was genuinely sympathetic towards Sinthia when he'd found out she'd lost another boyfriend—though of course, since he's a douche, he couldn't express himself that well.

cathyx, the story takes some twists and turns like other novelas, but what can I say—you just have to stick it out. The Rogeliana fanbase is pretty fervent, and I don't think they would be so much if things dragged out FOR-EVER with Rog and AP, and if Rohell stayed a nearly unredeemable douchebag FOR-EVER. The writers do try our patience, though, and severely at times! LOL. All I can say again is, wait and see, and stick it out.

I should add (so you don't think I'm giving away too much, or "hinting" too much) that the writers try our patience, as we have already seen. I think we can agree on that.

Whether they do it a lot in the future is a matter of interpretation, but then again, most telenovela writers try our patience, so that shouldn't come as a shock.

I've found out already in this story that some plot developments that didn't bother me bothered others (in particular other Rogelianas), and vice versa. It all makes for some interesting conversations.

5ft, best wishes on the audition. Looking forward to a clip of the commercial. Great title and recap. My favorite lols:

“Nobody betrays Rogelio Montero, blah, blah, blah.”

“Can I get a "No puede ser!"?”

Agree Vainy’s selfish but does love her father. She won’t want to share a single centavo – or air – with AP, but I do hope she doesn’t turn into a junior La Vaca. I think Mar Contreras is good in this role. I don’t FF>> through her scenes.

Sinthia has been locked down on the hacienda for so long that she goes loca when she meets a new hot guy. Because of her upbringing and that "good husband" clause in the will, she focuses on marriage and never about just dating for a while. She’s miffed about Gustavo dumping her before they ever really got started, but telling Rogelio the town is calling him "Abandonado" was just plain cruel. I guess Rogelio has his whip to do damage, and she has her tongue.

5ft--Accurate to a C(akes). You even sound like a Rogeliana, there. Good luck on the audition. We'll watch for the hair. I'll have to check out the chocolates--my weakness.

@cathyx--"I thought that Rog knows that Gus is the former boyfriend. Didn't he see his picture on the driver's license?" If I recall the scene correctly, in her anger, she threw the "evidence" at Rogelio, but most of it ended up on the floor and he tried but couldn't reach it. The only thing he got was the watch.

Was it Bruno that picked the other things up? Can't remember.

Poor Rog, he swings from pure vengeance to not wanting anything to happen to AP. I think that once she is back (count me in with the Rogelianas), that hurricane bluster will turn into a gentle breeze, just to have her near.

@nj sue--I like the scenario of Gustavo accepting the position at Del F, and then they find AP and she returns to the Haciends. That will make for a few good episodes with poor AP in the middle of two rutting males, yummy.

Poor Rosaura (NOT). She envisioned herself as Fed's querida until she realized he had fallen in love with Mariana. She's harbored a grudge and kept an eternal flame lit all these years. It's clear now why she has resented AP all these years. AP should have been HER daughter with Fed.

Now she's musing that her time has finally come. Yep, the beach scene was probably a definitive no for her. She took it well, but I have a feeling she's not going to give up easily.

She was still sticking her nose in Fed's and AP's "getting to know you" fest at the breakfast table. She should learn when it is best to shut up.

And yep, we'll get a lot of mileage, episode-wise out of the two sisters circling each other to see who poppa loves best. The one with the unloved momma or the one with the all-gone, but loved momma. Fed is going to have some serious health problems, agreed, but on his deathbed, he will no doubt make the two women promise to stick together (a tn imperative).

Gus 'n AP Cakes:
TN LAW #1--a "doncella*" heroine cannot be deflowered by anyone other than the galan she's destined to be with, unless he DIES before she ends up with the "other" galan. *senorita, virgen (as Maria explicitly told Rogelio some time back and he was incredulous--which tells us a lot about Rogelio and his assumptions.)

Hmmm. Lots to ponder here. We don't really want to see an eligible cutie pie dispatched when there are so many eligible ladies looking for love in LQNPA.

So, is this going to be a FIRST in tn history? (Of course my tn history is very short.) Or will it revert to established LAW.
Anita w/a Capital A

Lots of interesting stuff to ponder, Anita!

As for your Telenovela LAW #1, it was broken in "Teresa" already (and the same producer of that TN is doing this one). Teresa lost her virginity to Doctor Hottie but ended up with Professor Hottie. Aurora (the "nice" girl, also played by Ana Brenda) was deflowered by the nice Martin but ended up with Doctor Hottie. (What was his name again? It'll come to me as soon as I hit "publish this comment!) So I don't think we can rely on that "rule" anymore!

Thanks, 5 Ft, and much luck.

Anita's reminder of novela law is quite interesting! The logic of this novela calls for Cupcake and Gus to have many ups and downs but to be together at the end, IMHO. But the fan base in Mexico may have changed the outcome. Actually, not sure that it's over there.

Thanks for the recap 5 Ft. Break a leg for your audition.

CathyX, you bring up an interesting point. Did Rogelio ever see Gus' photo on the driver's license? If so, that makes his invitation for Gus to work at the Hacienda, well, diabolical, no?

I thought the scenes between AP and Fed were some of the best so far in this TN. Just lovely, but of course that happiness can't last. Deep sigh.

The insinuation (in the avances) that Gus and AP become lovers sets up so many possible plotlines/cliches, now doesn't it?

EJ

I agree. That rule is out the window in the current century. Or we hope so.

Despite her circumstances the Cupcake would technically be committing adultery. Is that going to be a first, topping Teresa?

EJ--I don't think Rogelio saw the picture. When AP threw the things at him, they landed on the floor. He couldn't reach them--he only got the watch.

No, I don't think Rohell ever saw the driver's license. With the exception of the Vainessa jilting thing, we seem to be kept abreast of all of Rohell's douchebaggy plans as he plans them.

Traveling Lady, I never felt that Gus and Cupcake were destined to be together—from the start, the plot seemed to focus more on Rohell and then Rohell and Cupcake's interaction, so much more than Gus and Cupcake. The storyline seems to be tailored in many ways after old romance novels, as well as a healthy dose of Amor Real. (Amor Real also had the heroine's "true love" be a sweet guy, and for a long time she carried a torch for him, instead of the guy she ended up marrying. But she ended up with her husband in the end.)

That Jose Ron got an award as "Supporting Actor" while Jorge Salinas got the award for "Lead Actor" (or however they phrased it) seems to support this. It's gonna be about Rohell and Cupcake in the end, that's just my feeling.

UA--Hadn't given that a thought, especially since AP considers her marriage a technicality--a contract signed under duress. We'll see how it turns out. Cositas interrumptus?
Anita

If I recall correctly, according to an early episode of Saturday Night Live the plural of "coitus interruptus" is twins.

Awesome recap 5ft. I skipped this episode honestly. It was too painful to watch even with my love for Rog. I'll tune back in when he finds the runaway wife lol.

Congrats on your commercial gig.

"TN LAW #1--a "doncella*" heroine cannot be deflowered by anyone other than the galan she's destined to be with, unless he DIES before she ends up with the "other" galan."

There was an exception to this rule. On Teresa, she lost her virginity to Mariano and it seemed like they would end up together in the end but instead she ended up with Arturo, her true love.

Pirata-babe--I plead ignorance on the Teresa marital relations front. I didn't watch it--too busy with TdA and CME. I guess writers are beginning to leave their 19th Century morality behind.

OTH, wasn't there some buzz about several alternative endings for Teresa to keep everyone guessing which one she was going to end up with? And weren't some CarayCarayers a little disappointed with the given resolution?

Agree Rogelio doesn't know Gustavo is AP's love. Rogelio would have him followed or something if he knew.

But where did Gus's wallet wind end up? Does AP still have it?

It's probably in the plastic bag in Cupcake's room along with the watch. I doubt she had it with her when she got the opportunity to flee on horseback.

another exception to the virgin rule, is Sofía in FELS, she had been raped by Fernando, IMO, the best villain ever.

"Poor Cin. She's got to be the most eligible bachelorette in Mexico, rich, beautiful, and desperate, and she can't land a man."

and the worlds most enviable abs.

Fernando was a very over-the-top villain, but also a very consistent one. Guillermo Garcia Cantu was the perfect actor for it.

Considering the outdated morals that would prevail in the community in this story I'm surprised that there is no Good Padre character.

Thanks much 5ft for the hilarious recap. I especially loved the "And then they braid each other's hair, hold hands, and skip through the cow patties". Exacto!

So, how is Mersnotty going to get out of this one? She's lied to Guscake before. "For his own good", of course, as she knows best!

I wonder when Cupcake will get around to telling Gus that it was her husband who sent his attackers? Before she decides to "entregarse".

I found last night very entertaining. Yes, a bit slow but lots of things set up.

I think Susana G. misspoke her lines. Mersnotty asks if she's sad, and Sinthia says she's not mad, she's sad! I bet it was supposed to be - I'm mad, not sad. Or - I'm not sad, I'm mad.

Why does Sin continue to bait Rogelio, then be so surprised and hurt/frightened when he lashes out? This chick continues to be a total mystery to me.

That right there, my friends, is the link to the "behind the scenes" video from the commercial shoot. I'm assuming this was put up by one of the production guys who was filming with, I believe, his phone. That's me in the red shirt sitting next to Michael Young!

5ft-
Wow, sitting next to the big star, I wish I could touch you. But it killed me to see them putting mustard on his jersey. Do they know how that stains? It'll never come out.

I have no idea who Michael Young is, but I sure know the famous 5ft.!!!!

Fun video 5ft!

And here I thought you were shooting a commercial for the Texas Rangers LAW ENFORCEMENT division! LOL!

I was sort of imagining somethign akin to those hilarious "La Casa de mi Padre" trailers with WIll Farrell that they have been showing so much lately.

As you can probably tell, I don't follow sports at all.

Congrats! And thanks for sharing.

Audrey

P.S. Your chocolatiering might have me braving making my nut bark. I do have several bars of Scharffenberger 70% stowed, I just haven't had the guts to do anything with them! And I also have some primo hazelnuts, walnuts, and almonds.

Delightful recap, 5ft, loved your bayatch comment about Tia; so true.

Does anyone have any info about scheduling next week? My DVR is showing the same 10PM slot (and 2 hours of UFCS).

Ms. 5ft--Just viewed the video.....got the feeling you were distracted by something off to your right and didn't care one whit for neither the galan sitting next to you, nor his oh so carefully applied mustard stain...until I caught you taking a quick look, HA!

Sara--I wouldn't trust the TV guide, the DVR, nor Univision, even though we were promised a return to the regularly scheduled line-up starting March 5.

Do this: Sit down at 9 pm and if it's El Tal, you can take the night off and go make chocolates until 10.

Conversely, you could make chocolates at 9 pm, while recording the 9 pm and sit down to eat the chocolates at 10 pm and watch what comes on.

If it's La Rosa de Guadalupe or Mujeres Asesinas, you can watch what you recorded at 9 pm and take the night off from El Tal. Muy sencillo, no?

It was nacho cheese, actually and I believe the stylist applied something underneath it so that it would come off easily...or at least that's what it looked like :D

I had no idea who he was. It was really cute, though, the kid looked him up online and had some facts about him memorized. Really surprised him. He was a nice guy, but maybe I went a bit overboard trying not to be that annoying extra who's sucking up to the big star. What can I say, I was there to do a job.

Obviously way late, but a great recap! Great description of Tia and loved the line about braiding each other's hair, etc.
You were being professional in the video--look forward to the completed product.
La Paloma

Thank you for the recap 5ft! Congratulations on your audition and the commercial!

There's been lots of exceptions to the virgin rule, especially in comedic novelas. With the exception of Llena de Amor, every single comedic novela since Tontas has had has had a non virgin leading lady.

Jarocha

Hmm, Jarocha, definitely something to snack on (oops, no, that's 5ft's area).

In Ana Paula's case, at least up until tonight's episode, she is still a doncella. I guess a young woman's "status" is more in play in historic novelas (as it was in real life and not just in Mexico).
Anita

The virgin leading lady is a comon novela trope, given the kind of moralism of telenovelas from Televisa (Mexico's other networks, TvAzteca and Cadena3, have less regard for such conventions and South American novelas are also moving on from that).

Still, even in the 50's, there were already non virgin leading ladies, like Silvia Derbez's character in Senda Prohibida . In 1993, in Triángulo, Daniela Castro loses her virginity to Guillermo García Cantú and has a child with him but she ends up with Eduardo Palomo.

Our lead here, Ana Brenda, has an interesting background:

In her first lead in Juro Que Te Amo, her character loses her virginity to the villain, played by Marcelo Córdoba, and they continue to have a sexual relationship. Tthe leading guy was José Ron and she does end up with him (although she had better chemistry with Córdoba, sigh).

Ana Brenda also played Aurora, the good girl to Teresa's bad girl in Teresa. Her character ends up with the love of her life, Mariano, but she loses her virginity to her first boyfriend, Martín. Although Aurora was always inlove with Mariano, the show never implied that there was anything wrong with her choice of sleeping with Martín. They did have a little awkward post coital scene, in an "I just had sex for the first time" awkward way (which is the kind of thing I loved about "Teresa"), but he reassured her and they had some nice scenes afterwards. The show let us know that her choice was okay, because Martín was a nice guy who truly cared for her and she cared for him too.
