El Mundo de Telemundo, Week of 5/28/12: Discuss Amongst Yourselves
Labels: relaciones, telemundo, valiente
this movie never did show where I live,
but Ted E showed me where to find the song,
that Genesis Rodriguez and Will Ferrell did,
so cute,

Thanks, Deb for the info about La Patrona.
Maybe you can see La Casa de Mi Padre on DVD some time. I thought it was really fun to see.
Juan Marcos toys with Viewerville, playing with the glass of champagne the Reptile gave him without sipping any. Peralta is on guard outside the Santa Monica beach house. The Rat and his accomplices watch from the bushes. Fernanda tells him she’s going to tell him a story about his family. JM has given orders that Peralta is to tell no one where he is. Sam calls Peralta and tells him about the microphone discovered in his house.
Willy comes to Casa Arroyo to tell Sam that Lucas said he wasn’t their child. Sam is desperate, making up reasons why he would say he wasn’t when he really was.
The Jefe (anyone know his name; I don’t) is definitely up to something. He’s in a car outside Casa Arroyo. I’m thinking the whole tale about someone wanting to kill her is a lie. He talks to someone on the phone and tells him or her “Navarro is not going to tell anyone about what’s happening, except Willy del Castillo already knows. Navarro is going to keep on with her normal life, and I’m going to be close keeping track of her movements.” He looks at a photo of her in his wallet with a glassy eyed stare.
Estúpida Estela tells Odd Ofelia that she’s taking Despicable Dad to the hospital. His blood pressure is way up.
The Reptile keeps beating around the bush and not coming out with it until Peralta comes in and tells him in a low voice about the mike in his house. She finally tells him the story about Gloria resenting him because his father left Gloria’s mother with a small child when he discovered JM was on the way. This causes JM to sip some champagne.
Greedy Gloria comes to bitch at Duval about being placed on desk duty. He tells her they’ve been suspicious of her because they know about her mother and JM’s father and the fact that her mother committed suicide over Juan Ignacio Arroyo.
Willy and Sam are still hashing over the Lucas issue, but she’s not angry with him any more. Ángela comes in and asks Willy if he knows the address of Fernanda’s beach house. He does, and he tells her.
JM keeps drinking while the Reptile tells him Greedy Gloria got assigned to his case for vengeance. He then comes up with the BS about wanting her to help him kill Ángela.
Willy goes off in a white-hot rage to confront DD. The Jefe comforts Sam as she tells him how bad she feels that the child is not her son. He tells her rather oddly that she has to think only of herself.
Vicente is drunken and maudlin, talking to himself about why he never got the opportunity to bang the Reptile and why she only wanted JM. He puts the gun to his temple, and I’m all ready to have seen the last of him. However, Nelly interrupts and talks him out of it.
Odd Ofelia, looking more hysterical and weird than ever, tries to tell Willy his father really loves him. He’s not there for Willy to give a piece of his mind to because EE has taken him to the hospital.
Lucas and his mother show up at Casa Arroyo to tell Sam the truth. She tells Sam it’s true the boy is not her son. It was all her idea. She had read the case file. When the investigator Bernie hired came looking for his grandson, she found out DD was rich and presented herself as the adoptive mother. It was all a lie. Lucas doesn’t look too happy about his mother’s version of events. He tells his mother to be quiet and apologizes to Sam. [Naturally this story is what the check Odd Ofelia gave the mother paid for.]
JM is starting to have blurred vision. The Reptile asks if he’s thinking she’s capable of killing and then answers her own question. Yes, she would, if he loved her. She goes on to tell him about being thrown down the stairs losing her baby and any future chance at motherhood. She tells him his parents came to tell her about the “bet” to bed the ugliest girl in school. He apologizes to her for all that and is starting to pass out. He says he sorry about suspecting her and lying to her now that he knows it was Gloria all the time. He loses consciousness.
Angie is driving toward the beach house when Nelly calls to say she heard Vicente say that JM and Fernanda were going to die today. Angie steps on it. She’s later stopped by some cop for speeding. She tells him why and that she’s a bodyguard. [That’s my story the next time I get stopped for speeding – I’m a bodyguard on the way to save my client.]
JM tries to get up, but the Reptile is all over him. She alternates kissing an almost unconscious man with telling him she’s the killer, the one who killed his parents. Of course he’s too far gone to hear; this is a telenovela.
The Reptile calls the Rat and tells him to come in. Ángela calls Peralta and tells him to be alert and that she’s on the way. He starts to go in, but one of the Rat’s guys hits him on the head. The Rat is dying to shoot JM, but the Reptile tells him that’s not the deal and pulls a gun on him. He tells her he’s sure they’ll see each other again, but not in heaven! [I really don’t understand the Rat’s role in all this.] After he goes out, she plants what she says is the last kiss on him. She turns on the gas jets, undresses him and herself and climbs into bed with him. She says if he won’t live with her, at least he’ll die with her.
When Sam tells Willy about the visit from Lucas and his mother, he is furious that his father paid her. Sam assures him his father was also deceived, and that he’s innocent.
The cops bought Ángela’s story. She arrives at the beach house, wakes up Peralta, and does a karate move to break into the house. She opens windows, turns off the gas and calls for an ambulance. She says someone turned on the gas intentionally and I remember her telling Peralta JM and the Reptile were going to die today. But nothing was said about suicide. Angie says someone wanted to kill them both.
The Jefe asks for the keys to Sam’s place. He’ll keep watch there, while she stays at Casa Arroyo. Again the weird obsessed look comes over his face.
Willy comes to the hospital to see his sister. Odd Ofelia tells him that his father is also in a delicate condition, but she doesn’t care because it’s his fault the Reptile lost her little snake egg. Estúpida Estela overheard.
The horrible Gabriel shows up to tell Emma and Peralta that there won’t be any show. Her paintings have been destroyed.
In the hospital JM tells Ángela what he remembers: the Reptile telling him the story about Gloria. Said Gloria shows up distraught to fuss over the Reptile. JM confronts her, furious, revealing that Fernanda told him she was the one who did everything. She admits she hates him, and says, if he hadn’t been born, their father would have stayed with she and her mother. She didn’t kill his loved ones, but she knows who did. She’s about to spit out some truth, but we should have known better. This is a telenovela, so some cops say she’s arrested and take her away esposado (in handcuffs).
In the next scene, Gloria is demanding her rights, when the “cop” in the front seat turns around. It’s the Rat. I don’t think Gloria will be telling anyone what she knows.
Vicente fires Nelly after Ángela shows up asking how he knew about the “attempt” on JM and Fernanda. He makes up some BS and gets away with it.
Willy tells Sam his father caused the distance between he and his sister. DD told Willy he was a nice guy and that his sister was ugly. Willy asks if she can even believe that DD never, ever kissed Fernanda growing up.
JM is walking around, seemingly fine. He goes into the Reptile’s room. She wakes up. He tells her someone tried to kill the two of them, but Ángela saved them. She looks like she swallowed a fly.
That miserable SOB Gabriel has spray painted ENFERMA AND BI-POLAR all over Emma’s paintings. She’s beside herself and begins to agree with the writings. I HATE that rotten Gabriel.
Sam is with Willy in her apartment and is opening some boxes that arrived. She tells him the Jefe has proven that the boxes are safe. They contain some things of her mother’s that she’s beginning to set around in her apartment. We see a shot of the Jefe in his lair with the usual scary movie photos of Sam all over his walls. He’s installed cameras in Sam’s apartment and is watching her every move. She pulls videotape out of the box and appears ready to watch it with Willy. [Who has a VCR any more?]
Thanks Novelera, for the super recap.
Something must be up with the actor who plays DD. He sent the Reptile a note urging her not to kill herself, Ofelia gave Lucas and mother their instructions, and now he goes (unseen) to the hospital.
So Jefe (we haven't heard his name) is obsessed with Sam and all this business about a vengeful former client is lies.
You're right Novelera, what was the Rat's (and henchman's) role in the murder suicide plot - just take care of Peralta?
Yeah really, who has a VCR? I actually have one but I'd have (a) to find it and (b) hook it up to watch a video.
So is Lucas really Sam's son and Bernie is paying him to say otherwise? Very weird.
Jean, you may have a point that Lucas really is Sam and Willy's son. I hadn't thought of that. I was thinking DD set it up so Sam and Willy's detective would find his "plant". Lucas and his mother would then extricate themselves from having to continue to pretend he's Sam's child by having the mother tell Sam the tale about DD finding the boy but SHE being responsible for the deceit. This would get Sam to believe DD is a good guy.
I thought the kid's discomfort was about having to pretend to be their child and then seeing his mother take money for playing along with the whole story.
Maybe he really is the right kid, though.
great summary novelera !!!
with all the curve balls that come flying out of the tv every show,
I'm amazed that you are keeping it all fairly straight,
the Lucas, Sam's son, story has me scratching my head as well,
I hate the way Sam just throws herself at any possibilities,
that would really shake a young kid's world,
but the way this Lucas is being so polite to her,
I like him,
and maybe there is a connection.
but I was wondering,
didn't the first crooked detective after he gave Sam the false lead,
tell DD (Despicable Dad) that he did know where the real son was,
and gave DD the file,
or did I get this wrong,
this guy DD, drives me nuts,
the way he is always spreading his misinformation,
usually by others,
and that it is so incredible,
that people believe it,
even after they have already been fooled before,
and DD, always the innocent guy,
always standing in the middle of the storm
I'm glad Willy is catching on,
(odd that he is so unaffected by the evil Reptile and her games)
maybe DD will have a stroke like Igor Mora in la Casa de al Lado,
and will be cared for by Estela (Estúpida Estela),
who never stops talking to him,
and yes, the Jefe is being too weird,
loved it when Vicente fired Nelly,
she is so clueless in the world of evil people.
Deb, you are right. The crooked detective, Ledesma, did find Sam and Willy's real son and gave the info to DD.
I was sort of thinking DD sent the wrong kid to them. He still doesn't want Sam and Willy together and thinks having their real child would bond them even more. And I thought he had the adoptive mother say DD believed the lie also so Sam will stop thinking of him as the villain.
Jean may think DD sent the real kid, but bribed the mother to lie and and also for her to make Lucas lie to Sam and Willy.
Either could be true.
I can read the recaps but can't watch the show, so I'll try to catch up next week.
I'm scatching my head about what's really going on with "Lucas" and what's DD's plan.
I'm frustrated that the Reptile seems to be in the clear again. How is it that they are not focusing their suspicions in her, and instead she is able to deflect their suspicions to others? So annoying.
The Reptile whines to Ángela about everything having been a lie and a farce. But she doesn’t want to live remembering how JM made love to her as a lie. She flat lines. I think we’re up to 6 flat lines now for this novela.
Sam and Willy talk about the videocassette. She tells him she doesn’t have a VCR; it’s too old a thing. Willy is excited thinking it’s of Sam when she was in school – or maybe even of her quinceañera. The Jefe is watching them and looks disgusted. Willy says he’ll get the tape converted to a DVD. They start kissing, and the Jefe can’t stand it. He calls Sam, saying he’s on his way to care for her [really to stop she and Willy from getting it on]. Willy says: “How attentive!” I think he’s starting to smell a rat. He says he doesn’t like her boss, but he wants Sam to be safe, so he’ll put up with him.
JM and Ángela discuss the fact that the real cops didn’t take Gloria Ferreira.
The Rat taunts Gloria, who is begging for her life. He runs through ways to kill her, saying burying alive isn’t that sure of a thing, shooting is too quick. He says fire is the best and begins to pour gas on her, laughing maniacally. He lights the fire while she screams.
Jefe says he’ll leave Nuñez – a new, bald character – to watch Navarro. The guy asks Jefe if he’ll do something against del Castillo. Jefe says he thinks she’ll keep Willy away herself. He reminds Baldy not to say a word to anyone about this.
The Rat leaves the burning embers of GG and says Samantha is next.
Odd Ofelia, who is the most boring character in the novela, is in tears about the Reptile’s having flatlined. Estúpida Estela says no one can tell Despicable Dad about Fernanda’s health.
Ángela tells JM he should not have made love to the Reptile. He denies that he did so.
The destruction of her paintings has caused some kind of psychotic break in Emma. She is afraid of Peralta and refuses medication.
Willy suggests that he and Sam have another child together, but she says she won’t be happy until she finds her missing child. Crazy Jefe tells someone he wants them to move heaven and earth to find Sam’s child.
Idiotic Vicente puts a gun in JM’s ribs and tells him he’s already called a judge and that JM is to marry the Reptile to give her a reason to live. JM manages to get the gun away, but Vicente tells him that, if the Reptile dies, he’ll shoot first JM and then Ángela. Odd Ofelia comes out and says the wedding is no longer necessary. [Do they really think they’re faking us out that the Reptile is dead?]
The Rat shows up to cut the brake line on Sam’s car. He crouches down to watch the fun, glad Willy’s going along. [He must be the invisible man for all the times he’s crouched down in plain sight and no one every sees him.] Willy and Sam joke around about who is going to drive. Jefe follows them waaay too closely. The brakes fail and we see Sam and Willy screaming.
10 DAYS LATER Génesis has been taking care of Lucy. I’m sure the cat must be relieved to be sitting on a sofa instead of draped over the Reptile’s arm with her hind legs dangling. The new maid makes an indiscreet remark about Emma being crazy. [Where do they get these people? Blabbermouth Employment Agency?] She mentions that Emma was taken to an asylum. Right on cue, Nelly shows up saying she told him Emma would never be well again and tries to plant a kiss on him. He turns her down flat.
Cecilia tries to get Willy to go for her being the woman on the side for him. He isn’t interested. He asks her about that DVD conversion. [Really? 10 days to get a videocassette converted into a DVD?]
Emma comes home and rushes into Peralta’s arms. She tells him she had some time to think and she’d like the two of them to live with his parents.
Vikingo advises the Rat to leave town. He says he has a wedding to go to tomorrow, actually to prevent a wedding.
The Reptile [not dead, of course] comes home from the hospital with Vicente. He tells her that JM and Ángela’s wedding is tomorrow.
Cecilia gives Willy the DVD.
Sam returns to her apartment and tells the Jefe that she’s using up too much of his time. She isn’t feeling great, but says she’ll take a pain pill and then she should be able to travel with Willy on business. The Jefe brings her some kind of pill. He also tells her she should stay away from Willy because she’s putting him in danger.
Vicente tells the Reptile Duval is convinced that Gloria did everything. Said Inspector Duval arrives to speak with Fernanda. He tells her they still haven’t found Gloria and asks if she has any idea where she could be. The Reptile tells him she doesn’t know. Gloria was madly in love with her, but of course, she didn’t return those feelings. He tells her that he thinks Ferreira was the boss, with Martinez and Flores working for her. She leans forward and starts flattering him, probably hoping to use the same moves she used on Marshall.
JM gives Ángela a huge rock that he says was his grandmother’s. His mother told him only to give it to the woman he was sure he loved. He never could give it to Isabel.
The Jefe looks on while Willy brings Sam the DVD. She appears to have a fever, doubtless something the Jefe gave her. She tells Willy she’s decided she wants to marry him, while the Jefe rages in his lair. Willy is overjoyed. She also says she’s willing to considering their having a baby.
JM comes to apologize to the Reptile for doubting her and deceiving her. She tells him she’s going to marry Vicente!
Despicable Dad is back on the scene. He tells Estúpida Estela that he hates being extorted and blackmailed and to leave him in peace. She gives her sneaky smile and says he’s going to force her to go to the police. She says what he did to Darío was a one-time thing and the guy was a killer. He tells her that he’s capable of killing her. She doesn’t believe him. He grabs her by the throat and tells her HE was the one responsible for her husband’s death because he ordered Sam kidnapped. Just then Willy comes in, having overheard. “What? You had Sam kidnapped?”
Thank you for the recap.
Just wanted to say that there was some kind of feature on the news last night about the return of the actor who plays DD to tis TN. I'm sorry I could not stay awake to see it, and I forgot to set my DVR.
I have "assumed" he was ill.
YEAH, Miranda told Mauricio that he is the Baby Daddy. I guess it's true it's ultimo capitulos time.
BTW, I was shocked the actress who plays the cop, Gloria, is also on Corazon Apasionado playing a teenage brat. She has black hair and in no way looks like she does now. But her voice is most recognizable. I have to say I'm impressed with her acting in both TN's.
Fabulous recap, Novelera! I was going to say what a weird episode it was but it was the usual for this novela: create some suspense and then do a "10 days later" and everything in fine.
Luis killing Gloria by burning her alive was really horrible.
I completely missed the VHS tape and Willy asking Cecilia to transfer it to a DVD. Cecilia watched the DVD herself. I wonder if that has any significance? After DD chewed her out, there isn't any reason for her to have told him about it. I guess we'll have to wait and see when Angela and Sam watch it.
Why didn't Odd Ofelia take care of the cat? It seems incredibly strange that Genesis would have it.
The Latin Gossip website says that Manuel Landeta who plays DD has some issues with his spine and couldn't move his legs.
Thanks so much Novelera. That 10 days later crap was such a cop out. We have no idea how Sam and Willy stopped the car and why he ended up with a hurt hand, and she with no visible bruises or scrapes. Plus, no info on if there was an investigation into how the brake line got cut. Emma has gotten all fixed up by the manicomio, but we see none of the fallout. The Reptile has just been isolated the last two weeks and has no idea about JM and Angela's marriage plans? Oh please!
Lucy the cat looked really content being with Genesis. Bet he was unhappy to go back to the Reptile and all her yammering about her evil plans.
The Rat setting Gloria on fire was really horrible. I didn't need to see that.
Thanks for the info on Manuel L. I hope he's ok. I hate DD, but I really like the actor.
"Blabbermouth Employment Agency"---hahahaha! Every maid who has worked in the Arroyo house has had some attitude problems.
Okay, I recall that when Angela came to the beach house she found Lucy outside--presumably let out by Peralta when he came in to talk with JM. When the Reptile woke up in the hospital, the first thing she said was "Y mi Lucy?" So I was hoping there would be a big cat custody battle. Whenever Aylin Mujica picks up that poor animal, it lets out a squawk of distress. I'm sure it did like the brief respite with Genesis.
J in Oregon
So the Reptile has convinced everyone that she and JM almost died because somehow the stove got left on accidentally? I seem to have missed this. I'm sure Vincente and Ofelia wouldn't say anything but wasn't Angela told that the Reptile was going to kill herself and JM?
Hmmm. I don't remember the Reptile saying the stove was left on accidentally.
I thought she was trying to convince Duval that Gloria was obsessed with her. I thought he believed that Gloria might have turned on the gas. The whole thing is kind of ridiculous. That appeared to be a one room beach house. How could someone sneak in there and turn on the gas with JM and the Reptile right there? Sherlock Holmes would say: "Elementary, my dear Watson. Either JM or Fernanda turned on the gas." And all the burners were turned on full blast.
Willy confronts DD about ordering Sam’s kidnapping when she was a girl. At first DD denies it saying that he was just trying to make Estupida Estela go away but finally he admits responsibility. He says that he caught his best friend Darío in his bed with his wife. He wanted to take away the thing that Darío valued most. Willy points out that several people died to satisfy this desire for revenge.
Ángela and Sam watch the DVD from Miguel with El Jefe. It turns out that Cecilia did alter the video so that it breaks off before Miguel gives the important information that Ángela and Sam are half sisters. The girls ask Jefe to see if he can restore the missing part of the tape. It apparently doesn´t occur to them to check the original videotape.
Sam tells Ángela that she has agreed to marry Willy. Jefe looks on glumly.
The Reptile asks JM if we would have married her to give her a reason to live when she was in the hospital. He says no. JM apologizes to the Reptile for believing that she had anything to do with all the crimes that occurred.
Willy tells Odd Ofelia that he is going to tell Sam about this. OO moans and cries in her annoying way but to no avail.
Sam tells El Jefe that she never intended to get married. The marriages that she saw when growing up were not good examples. But Willy arrasó (demolished) all her fears with the hurricane force of his love. Jefe tells her that he is envious of her relationship with Willy. He also discloses to her that he is divorced and has a son.
The Rat sabotages the plane Willy is going to fly to some business meeting. I guess there isn´t much security in Darío´s company.
Emma tells Peralta that a friend has let her have an affordable apartment where they can live together.
Willy calls Sam and says that he has something important to tell her when he comes back from his trip. Uh oh.
Estupida Estela lives up to her name. She tells OO that she doesn’t believe that DD was behind Sam’s kidnapping. She thinks it was Darío.
Cecilia drops off the untampered-with DVD for DD with the message that she isn´t as stupid as he thinks she is.
New evil character – Josefina, Isabel´s mother shows up at JM´s house. She says that she couldn´t make her daughter´s funeral but wants to attend JM´s wedding. JM is not exactly ecstatic to see her but lets her stay in the house for Génesis´ sake.
Josefina tells Génesis that when Isabel was her age, she was winning beauty pageants.
The Reptile tells Vincente that he should take the place that he deserves in her life – as her husband.
Josefina is introduced to Ángela and says that if she hadn´t known that Ángela was JM´s fiancée, she would have thought she was a servant in the house. What a charmer.
Sam tells El Jefe that she has a bad feeling about something.
Willy´s plane is in trouble.
Vincente thinks that the Reptile is having him on.
Vincente brings the Rat to see the Reptile in her house. He tells her that he is going to Mexico.
Josefina tells JM that she has come to town to find the murderer of her daughter.
Sam gets the news that Willy´s plane has blown up.
Duval comes to see the Reptile to tell her that Greedy Gloria´s body has been found.
Josefina goes to see DD. He orders her out of his house. He says that she destroyed Isabel´s life because Isabel was prettier than her mother.
The news of Willy´s plane crash spreads among the cast. The wreckage is found with no survivors.
Josefina starts to undermine Ángela to Génesis. If Bernie would like to kill someone, she would be a good candidate.
Ángela tries to comfort Sam. She tells JM that they have to postpone the wedding.
Finally, we see Willy crawling up onto a beach.
Thanks, Jean, excellent recap!
Cecilia told OO to tell Bernie that she kept a copy of the original DVD besides the one she delivered to the house.
You can definitely see them tacking on stuff - Josefina and the obsession of El Jefe.
I could have screamed when Willy told Sam he'd tell her something important when he got back.
After DD pulls himself together over losing Willy, he'll be after Sam like a hound dog. We can only hope that El Jefe is jealous and puts some spokes in DD's wheels.
That mother of Isabel is a horror show, isn't she. The actress really looks like she could have been Isabel's mother - in appearance.
I thought the scene with DD and Willy was excellent acting on both their parts. Willy wasn't buying any BS. And DD showed his true face to his son and caused Willy to lose any respect he might have still had vfor him.
The Rat managing to pass himself off as an airline mechanic was beyond ridiculous. Those have to be cherished jobs. And a new guy just shows up and starts messing with one of the Sandoval company's private jets and nobody turns a hair?
In a Univision novela, Willy will have amnesia, Sam will be pregnant and they won't see each other for months. We'll see what happens with this one. I hope they don't separate them for too long. That couple is definitely the best thing about this novela.
Josefina really does look like Isabel. For a second I thought it was the same actress made up to look older.
I noticed that they only showed the actor who plays DD from the waist up. He stood up a couple of times but didn't walk.
Thanks so much Jean. I just caught the end of this last night. I'll try to catch it online this evening.
This story is convoluted enough as it is. I wonder how much they'll have to contort the story to fit around Manuel L's (Bernardo) illness? The article I read says he hopes to be back on set soon, if even in a wheelchair. But two surgeries on his spine have been done, and he has to go through rehab. Here's the article I read: http://www.am.com.mx/Nota.aspx?ID=544567
Vivi, thanks so much for the article about Manuel Landeta. Makes me cringe to read about what he went through!
ah, shades of Mi Corazón Insiste,
JM is suspect of a killing by Fernanda,
like Andrés was by a killing of Débora in MCI
and Carolina Tejera appears,
as the savior of Willy,
who was Fabián Ríos' lover and accomplice in MCI
ah, Jonathan Islas,
(our favorite psycho, Abel, from Flor Salvaje),
is listed in the cast,
with a nice pic of him from their facebook page,
http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/398316_406664976039851_391568767549472_1129252_487418556_n.jpg
btw, he played an interesting character in La Diosa Coronada,
the first time I saw him,
(I think me and two other people watched this one),
it looks like it will be appearing on that late late slot on Telemundo,
it's pretty short, because they sent everyone home one day and made up an ending, Ha!
but I liked it,
Carolina Guerra was grrreat!
Carolina Tejera is introduced to the cast as Lorena, a mysterious woman who finds Willy on the beach. She turns out to be a doctor and has some strange past because she has a flashback to two people murdered in a bed while she looks on in horror.
Jefe tells Sam his contacts are telling him there isn’t any possibility Willy survived. Sam asks Ofelia to let her use the aviation company to search, since her son Rodrigo owns it. Sam says she’ll find Willy.
JM reports that one of the workers who was supposed to be preparing the plane Willy took was found hurt and didn’t show up. Sam wonders if “Taylor” was trying to kill her instead of Willy.
Willy, at least, doesn’t have amnesia. He’s asking for Sam while Lorena is treating him.
Despicable Dad has taken off in his grief. [I’m sure this plot development is until Manuel Landeta can resume his role.] He leaves a letter in his room. Estúpida Estela tries to hide it from the intended recipient: Ofelia. She’s pissed he left her nothing. He says in the letter that nothing matters now that he’s lost Willy and he’s never coming back.
The Rat reads about Willy’s crash. He muses that he didn’t kill Sam, but at least got her to suffer. He calls Violeta to tell her he’s going to go away for a while. She asks him not to kill anyone else! He seems to have forgotten he was told V saw him kill the maid, and tells her he’s a good guy. Just then two thugs show up, furious Luis hasn’t paid them. The Rat manages to go all martial arts on the two guys. He drives off. I’m unclear if he had this pickup truck or stole it from the two guys. Anyway, Vikingo calls him to say the guys wanted revenge and there’s a bomb. Oh Boy! The truck blows up! Rat Flambé! Now, if he survives this, I don’t think I can bear it.
The Reptile’s cold blood warms up every so slightly remembering a scene from hers and Willy’s childhood, in which she got in a fight to protect him from some bullies.
Willy tells Lorena the mystery woman that it was NOT an accident. His father tried to kill him. He talks on and on about Sammy, about Navarro. She tells him they are on an island far from civilization.
Jefe tells Sam the attempt wasn’t by Taylor. When she leaves the room, Nuñez shows up and Jefe tells him he tried to convince Sam it wasn’t Taylor. Then he tells Nuñez: “What if my lie turns into reality and someone really wants to kill her?” So now we know for sure he’s playing her.
Odd Ofelia tells Estúpida Estela that DD’s letter says he’ll never return. Then OO tells EE it’s about time she leaves! Always the schemer, EE says that if she leaves she’ll tell everyone about what she overheard: that DD had Samantha kidnapped.
Horrible Josefina is making all kinds of trouble at Casa Arroyo. She says her grandchild can’t be around a child who thinks her dead father calls her. She says Violeta has mental problems. JM says that, if he lets her be around her unbalanced grandmother, then surely Violeta would be all right! JM wants to throw Horrible Josefina out, but Abnegada Ángela doesn’t want to deprive Génesis of her granny.
Cecilia comes to tell Sam that Willy was really in love with her. Please.
Vicente tells the Reptile that they have to shut up the last person who knows about her crimes. He hacked into GG’s computer and found out about Ursula Villalobos, a movie director, who Gloria had told the whole story as a protective device. Meanwhile, JM has gotten a call from said Ursula to meet him at his office to give him the information.
Estela goes after Sam, saying she’s just like her mother, bringing problems to a man and making both Willy and his father crazy. EE picked the wrong woman to bitch at; Sam goes right after her.
Horrible Josefina tells Ángela she’s going to talk to her lawyers. With all the things that have happened at Casa Arroyo, she’s going to sue for custody of Génesis. The poor kid overhears this.
Lorena moons over a sleeping Willy and says he looks just like her Santiago. She’s starting to look a bit like a nutcase to me. Willy is delirious and thinks she’s Sam. He plants some kisses on her.
When Ursula shows up at the office, the Reptile pretends to be JM’s secretary. When Vicente calls to say JM and Peralta have arrived, the Reptile puts on leather gloves and repeatedly stabs Ursula with a letter opener [without getting a drop of blood on her]. She grabs the envelope with the proof of her guilt and takes off.
Lorena tells Willy there’s no land line, no cell phone and no internet. But she’ll go into the town to let Sam know he’s alive.
Earlier, when Sam was at Casa del Castillo, she picked up Cecilia’s phone instead of her own. Of course this is going to have repercussions. Lorena calls the cell phone and Cecilia picks up. Uh oh.
Meanwhile Sam, Jefe and Arturo are miraculously walking along that same beach where Willy washed up. Arturo barks madly at the little cottage where Willy lies inside after fainting from his effort to go outside.
Duval accuses JM of killing Ursula!
great recap Jean !!!
so Willy's important meeting was,,,
a new dealership in the south pacific,
are we talking used cars here?
Hi Deb: it was Novelera who did this excellent recap.
I don't recall there being any mention of where Willy was going. But I think you mean that there aren't too many beautiful sandy beach islands near LA where this novela is supposed to be taking place. Just tighten your beanie and go with the flow. ;-)
Super recap, as usual, Novelera.
When I turned on the TV last night, it was about half way through the live broadcast. I saw the Reptile stabbing away at some woman I had never seen before and wondered what the he** was going on. Then I watched from the beginning on my DVR.
I first saw Carolina Tejera on Gata Salvaje where she was so thin that she was called "the corpse" on TW and it didn't help that she had her hair pulled back off her face. She played Eva, about whom the classic line found in the Caray sidebar was said, "A tu hermana Eva se la comieron los cocodrilos." She's still pretty thin.
Can we hope this is the end of the Rat? I was hoping that he would suffer more in his death. Now poor Violeta is being called crazy. Many people saw her get a phone call. Couldn't someone have investigated the calls that were received on that phone? If they could show that the call wasn't from the parent of a school friend, then who was it from?
It was really smart of JM to touch the knife that killed Ursula. The only proper forensic examination that ever seems to be have been done of a crime scene (I guess Isabel's was done too) and they accuse JM of the murder of this person he never met before? I suppose this is going to improve Josefina's chances of getting custody of Genesis.
I agree with you that the disappearance of DD is due to his medical problems. So he's not going to be coming after Sam. I guess that's why El Jefe turned up.
I'm back from vacation (cruise to Bermuda, very relaxing), and I sure missed a lot! Thanks for all the great recaps. So we have Lorena, Josefina, and Ursula, only we don't have Ursula. I sometimes think the writers get together and challenge each other as to who can come up with the most outrageous plot device.
To me, the Rat is one of the main characters, so I think he's still alive. Let's not forget everyone's amazing recuperative powers.
Can't wait to start watching again tonight.
Welcome back, Hombre!!
We have definitely missed your Relaciones Peligrosas recaps. I watched it last night. Are you up to speed?
You are right about the actor playing Gonzalo; he's doing a great job.
I'm finding the back story on Patty interesting. Won't say too much in case you're not al tanto.
Jean, Carolina Tejera's being thin was also part of the plot in Alguien te Mira. She played a cocaine-addicted supermodel who was in love with the galán.
I haven't been able to watch any of the last 5 shows. I'm going to watch starting tonight, and do brief recaps for each.
it was my first time seeing Jonathan Islas in this too, first run. He captured my attention, and I remember being excited when he appeared on Herederos. I also recognize the woman who played Simon's mom in Herederos.
thanks to all for the entertaining recaps.
increible! how much like Sonya Smith the character Josefina appears. I too was dumbfounded.
Episode 88 (last Friday)
Ricardo and Olga are definitely dead. Liz is destroyed. Where will she live? She hates Teresa, but ironically, that's where she'll have to live, since Teresa gets the insurance to take charge of her. Gilberto tells Julia he'll seduce Teresa and get the money.
Benita begs Bob not to turn in Gonzalo if he shows up. He'd blame Benita for abandoning him. She abandoned him once, but never again.
Miranda sees JP going into Olivares' house. This is strange, since JP said not to trust "Bernardo Conti". She calls him, and he lies that he's still at school. Later, she calls him on it. He spins a lie about how at first he didn't trust Mr. Conti, but later found out he was a detective, and he's helping JP. He didn't tell Miranda because he's embarrassed about spending more money he has to borrow. I'm not sure if Miranda is buying this.
Oli tells JP that Walt in Mexico is following Soledad. JP calls him, and Walt says I'm going to kidnap Soledad. Wait, says JP, I have something to tell you. I'll go to Mexico right away, brother. Oli now knows that the person following Soledad is JP's brother.
Someone comes to Pati's door. Joaco pulls a gun, but it turns out to be Pati's Mom, Ivana Shapiro! She's a rich Russian woman, who can't understand why Pati's slumming it. She has something important to tell Pati.
Meanwhile, Pati hears about Ricardo's death, and is terror stricken. Joaco doesn't want her to call the cops, because he's worried that Yesi is with Victor, the killer. But Pati says we have to call. She calls Orlando, who sends Olivia to check it out. Mau comes with her, and asks Miranda some more questions about why she's keeping the pregnancy secret (it really doesn't make any sense). Olivia views the video naming Victor as the killer.
Victor calls Joaco, says I've got your sister. If you want to see her alive, destroy evidence against me.
Gonzalo shows up at Carmen and Sofia's. They're scared to death. He pulls a knife, says call Orlando, tell him to come over, but don't tell him I'm here, or I'll kill myself with this knife, and you'll never know who really killed Manuel. Carmen calls Orlando, says come over quick.
Victor has taken Yesi to some hideout, and she knows something's wrong, but can't escape. He keeps saying you're either with me, or you're dead (I'm paraphrasing).
In Mexico, we learn a little more. I'm not sure I got this totally straight, but here goes. Helena was JP and Walt's Mom. She committed suicide, and that's why they want revenge. She married Remigio, their stepfather. She was a servant girl. Miranda's father, Colonel Avila, killed Remigio, not because he was with Soledad, but because they had a kid! In other words, Remigio was really Miranda's Dad, not Avila. Remigio was JP's stepdad. Avila got killed by the cartels. He was super rich, but never wanted to take care of the stepsons of his wife's lover. Somehow, the money goes to Soledad, then to her daughter Miranda, then to Miranda's child.
So JP's latest plan is this. Wait until the baby is born, then steal the baby. Offer to give it back, if Miranda turns over all the millions she gets from Avila (which she doesn't know about yet). Then JP and Walt will kill the baby, thus getting really great revenge on Soledad and Miranda.
This is a loony plan, and although Walt seems to believe it, I don't think JP is telling Walt the truth.
BTW, Olivares now plans to kill both JP and Walt when HE gets the money!
Andres has various plans, from where he is in jail. He tells Nena he's totally innocent, she has to help him. Yeah, he's been violent, but it was just jealousy, and he'll go to anger management classes after he gets out. Nena tells Leo his father needs help, but Leo says SHE needs help, to stop letting Andres abuse her. He'd rather be the son of murderer in jail, than one who bought his way out with millions of dollars.
Andres' lawyer says Henry has disappeared, and Victor is clearly double crossing them. Andres tells the lawyer to 1) get Monica to sign some powers of attorney giving Andres control over the large sums of money he's just put in her account to convince her she's number 1, and 2) kill Gonzalo.
Gonzalo is at the house of Carmen and Sofia, and when Orlando shows up, he says he'll tell Orlando everything in private. They go into the back room, and he does tell all. He tells how Oliver gave him drugs, and he didn't know what they were. Rodridgo begged for the drugs, and Gonzo didn't sell them, he gave them to Rodrigo (Orlando's son, who committed suicide). Gonzalo took the drugs, too, woke up the next day in the bathtub at Leo's with no memory. He feels terrible about what happened to Rodrigo. Initially Orlando is filled with rage, but later realizes that Gonzalo is just another victim. A victim of the big company which is selling these untested drugs.
Gonzalo confirms that Andres is the head of that company. And Gonzo saw Andres shoot a guy right in front of his eyes. He kidnapped and tortured Gonzo. And he had Javier put the wallet from Manuel in Gonzo's house, so he must have had Manuel killed too. When Orlando tells Gonzo that Liz's parents were killed, Gonzo knows nothing of that, but realizes that has to be Andres' work, too. Orlando says we have to arrest you now, but we'll put you in maximum security. If you're on the street, Andres' guys could try to kill you. Gonzo doesn't want to get arrested. But the police show up and arrest him anyway.
His Mom Benita is on her high horse, having found out that Liz betrayed her boy with Leo. She reams out Liz, Leo and later Nena. She apparently doesn't care that her son forced Liz into sex, gave drugs to lots of students, bullied students, even put drugs in teachers' drinks. Her son can do no wrong.
Orlando goes right up to Andres and tells him that Gonzo has been arrested and is talking. Andres will PAY for what he did to Orlando's son! This doesn't seem like such a great tactic to me, for as soon as Orlando leaves, Andres tells his lawyer to put the pressure on Gonzo, threaten his mother, or just kill him in jail.
Andres also wants to see Monica. For her part, Monica is just about to leave the country. She's got her money, and she wants to leave both Andres and Clementina is the street. Somehow, I think things are going to backfire on this leggy lass.
But Victor's holding some good cards by having Yesi. Olivia is in the car with Mauricio. He wants to be alone. She does, too, so let's be alone together! (this doesn't make sense, but it gives us a chance to see Olivia's sexy bod again when they go to the trailer and she just happens to need a shower). While she's washing, Joaco calls Mau, you've got to get that dvd that Pati gave Olivia, which incriminates Victor, or he'll kill Yesi! Mau, thinking this may be the worst mistake he's ever made (and he's made quite a few), steals the dvd and gives it to Joaco.
Down in Mexico, Walt doesn't fully believe that JP really cares not a whit for Miranda. Like a good druglord, he brings out the babes for a night of sex. JP is reluctant, further proving he really DOES love Miranda.
Someone's been following Mau. It turns out to be.....Miranda! She snuck out, and says she needs a hug. Mau is initially sarcastic, stand-offish, but then Miranda drops the bomb. This baby I'm expecting...it's yours! Mau is ready to yell to the heavens, but Miranda finally calms him down, and he realizes he has to stay quiet. If it gets out, she'll go to jail, and the baby will be taken away. And if she has to choose between him and the baby, it's the baby. Mau knows she's right, and gives her a big kiss on the lips.
He then takes her to his Dad's boat, a sleek cabin cruiser, almost a yacht, which he first went on when he was 7. Here they can be alone, no one can find them here. They go inside, and before you know it, love blossoms again.
Awwwwwww!
I'll try to catch up on the rest of the episodes soon.
Mauricio and Miranda take off in the boat, and are riding along the water. Mau wants to flee with her, disappear and live together with their child. But Miranda brings him back to reality. They do end up spending the night together. It may be their last for a long time. Mau has agreed to keep quiet about the baby, "for now". Miranda tells him that JP did save the baby at one point, when she was in jail, and was hit in the stomach. He just appeared, and got her out somehow. But Miranda also admits that she and JP have never had sex, and Mau believes her. She tells Mau "despite our troubles, I still want to do what's best for our baby". Mau tells her he likes when she says "our" baby. She assures him that she'll always know it's their child, and that of course she loves him.
Gonzalo has been arrested and is giving his declaration. Pedro Garcia is shocked to hear Gonzo talk about how Andres killed that other young guy. He calls Victor, who tells him to lead the cops to the hideout where Andres tortured Gonzo and shot the kid. Garcia will get a promotion for this, and Andres will be sunk. Sure enough, the police find blood, bullets, lots of evidence. It's not looking good for Andres.
Orlando brings both Gonzalo and Andres into the same room, to hear their two versions of the events, to see who's lying (I've never heard of this "procedure", but it sure will be dramatic).
Ana is really feeling sick from the poison Julia's been giving her. Julia decides to back off the dose a little so Ana won't go to the doctor until it's too late. Meanwhile, she calls Santiago, complains of stomach pains, he has to come over right now, after all, it's their child who's in danger. Santi grudgingly goes (as Julia smiles to herself).
Yesi says to Victor, if you really care for me, why don't you untie me? Victor doesn't trust her, that's why. But he does keep kissing her, to make her think he's a good guy.
Joaco comes to the hideout with the dvd and a gun. Victor's henchman jumps out, and we have a Mexican standoff. Joaco says he doesn't have the dvd with him, and also, he needs proof that Yesi's okay, before he can get the dvd. He urges the thug to call Victor and show him Yesi.
Nena tells Benita that Gonzo visited her, and gave her the note she passed to Benita. She says either Gonzo killed Manuel or my husband did. No matter what happens, we should try to remain friends. Benita asks her for money for a lawyer for Gonzo, and Nena wavers, she'd be using her husband's money against him.
Olivia discovers the dvd is gone, and it has to be Mauricio. Also, she can't locate him. She tells Carmen she's sure he's with Miranda.
JP has indeed enjoyed the hookers that Walt provided. Walt also says if Andres goes down, they can move into the drug business in Miami, to fill the void. Back in the US, Olivares looks at a picture of his daughter. He decides he'll let Miranda betray JP with Mauricio, JP really loves Miranda, and THIS will REALLY make him suffer!
I’ve only got time for a quickie tonight. Quite a lot happened though. First and foremost, we found out the name of El Jefe. It’s Estéban de la Vega.
Obviously, Sam doesn’t find Willy on the island. She is devastated that he is dead. Pretending to be Sam, Cecilia tells Lorena that she can’t come for Willy, she has an important business trip.
JM is arrested for the murder of Ursula. In the usual perversion of the justice system perpetrated in novelas, before he even has a lawyer, much less a trial, JM’s been denied bail and sent to a maximum security prison.
El Jefe won’t leave Sam for a second. He calls a buddy and gets some drug that he gives to Sam. It puts her to sleep and he takes off her clothes and has some yucky kissing and fondling.
Cecilia is off to find Willy herself, I think. She’s putting on makeup while she’s driving and we know that distracted driving is dangerous. She has an accident with a truck, presumably fatal.
Vincente suggests to the Reptile that having JM spend the rest of his life in jail would be an appropriate penalty for what he has done to her. She considers it but in the end, she not only gets JM a lawyer - a babe with a rack, naturally, she suborns a witness - a guard in the building - to clear JM.
Horrible Josefina is replaying Isabel’s childhood for Génesis. She dresses her up for a beauty pageant.
Willy calls Sam’s phone again and this time he gets El Jefe who tells him that Sam is away on business.
DD sends a letter to Estela telling her that he never liked or desired her. He only wants Samantha. Estela heads right over to Sam to tell her the truth about the kidnapping.
Horrible Josefina files for and gets custody of Génesis.
JM gets sent to the big house. He has a run in with his cellmates but he bests them and they turn out to be former business associates of the Rat. Small world in prison!! JM offers money for information about why the Rat committed his crimes. One prisoner tells JM that he got the snake that the Rat put in Génesis’ room. Not possible, says JM, the Rat was dead when that happened. The cons tell him that the Rat wasn’t dead then but he is now. They confirm that Violeta saw him. When JM asks why the Rat did these crimes, the con says that he had a powerful boss (jefa - a woman). Naturally, JM thinks they mean Greedy Gloria but the con says no. Just as the con is about to tell JM who the boss was, JM is released from prison. The con promises to tell JM in return for money.
Willy decides to go back to LA and Lorena will go with him.
We get yet a new character - El Jefe’s ex-wife. It seems that his obsession with Sam broke up the marriage.
Jean thank you as always for the recap!
Nia--I think Vikingo was telling his girlfriend that Luis told him if he (Luis) ever died, Vikingo was to give a tape to the police. I'm guessing that is Fernanda's confession tape?
Willy was so ready to believe that Sammy had forgotten all about him after only a few days. Now he has Lorena to comfort him.
Did I hear them say "capitulos culminantes" last night?
J in Oregon
thanks Jean !!!
so sorry for thanking you early (last night) when I should have said thanks to novelera, you both write such good recaps, I'm so embarrassed, love you both,
ah, did Lorena say her husband was dead?
but she is the only one that knows that,
and everyone one else thinks that he just left her,
and that scene earlier, of a man and women in bed, bloody, probably dead,
would that be her husband ???
with another woman?
did she.....
and now Willy is going to LA with his ID.
Thanks for the recap, Jean! Deb, I think you're right, Lorena may be a bit unbalanced about her husband, Santiago, and this could be bad for Willy.
But given the track record of minor characters, Lorena could be dead soon. It's almost as if people live somewhat normal lives, then when they get too close to our main characters, boom! Cecelia was in the background for months, but as soon as she has a bigger role, she's toast. Same thing happened with Tamara, Marshall, who knows how many more? I'm hoping Esteban has an "accident". What a weirdo (and he's head of the whole bodyguard agency!). Josefina will surely get her comeuppance soon.
And yes, I think Vikingo has the tape of Fernanda's confession. Could he be the next to die? This is the kind of show where you can't look at Wikipedia for a character, because they usually list "dies", and that applies to about 50% of the cast!
This novela gives me whiplash. I can't imagine anyone being bored. Things happen and they happen fast!
No sooner does Cecilia screw up Willy's attempt to reach Sam than she's squashed like a bug by what sounded like an 18-wheeler.
Carolina Tejera must be tired of playing the "other woman". She was blonde, thin, and madly in love with Christian Meier in Alguien te Mira. I next saw her reddish brown haired, madly in love with Jencarlos Canela in Mi Corazón Insiste. In both these novelas she wasn't really a bad character and, I believe, sacrificed herself in both. This may be the departure because it seems to me she's going to be obsessed with Willy and may have killed her husband and his lover.
My God, those scenes with Estéban, El Jefe, were awful. The guy is a good actor, I'll give him that. He managed to convince us with his eyes that he was obsessed with Sam long before we were actually told the truth. I was SO relieved to see Ángela show up and get him out of there so Sam could wake up from her stupor a bit.
Loved "small world in prison", Jean. Of course the Rat accomplice was interrupted before he could say the Reptile's name. And I'm sure SOMETHING will prevent Vikingo from turning over the tape the Rat made of the Reptile confessing her crimes to the police.
J in Oregon, I also thought Willy believed Sam didn't care about him a bit too soon. But maybe we're meant to think it logical since she pushed him away for 9/10 of the novela so far.
Another travesty of the American justice system: Horrible Josefina gets custody of Génesis in the blink of an eye without any legal proceedings that we saw. Poor Génesis. She obviously hated that beauty pageant training that was being forced on her. Did the witch put lipstick on her? It looked like it to me.
The writers seem to be stuck, anyone new on this show is bad, wicked, or nuts! Nothing surprising at all, if they try to help JM they die.
Let's hope it's true Jefe and new famale nut character die promptly so Willy and Sam can be together. As for the actress who plays her, please move on to another type of role, same ole character of your two previous TN's.
Willy and Sam are so good on this TN, why could their characters not become a 2012 version of Nick and Nora, and have them as sleuths, something different for a TN.
