Refugio June 4: Aurora's tomb, coincidental birthdates, and upcoming: a really thrilling manicure.

Friends, I am not going to be blogging this show any more, it just doesn't interest me. Is somebody else willing to pick up one or two hours on Mondays?

Pat tells/warns his mom to go along on her husband's trips - to keep him out of trouble is the unsaid reason. She doesn't believe in love any more and doesn't want to bother flirting with her husband.

Melisa brings Luciana a citation, it's because she whacked Lastra when he tried to rape her. She'll need that nice lawyer Linares!

Gala cannot stop nagging Rod about marrying AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! She's all over him, he just wants to go home, she is dying to be Mrs Torreslanda, he gives her a perfunctory kiss.

Remembering being told that Lastra could indeed put her in jail, Luciana staggers around 'acting' - Rod comes in and sees her crying. They hug. He wonders if she's crying because of the kiss he stole, she says no, she's forgotten about it, he says he hasn't forgotten. She remembers Gala hissing: "The next time I find you with my intended you're out in the street."

Mati comes to Luciana's room and asks who's her lawyer. Turns out she knew Claudio Linares long ago. "I don't think he's the same guy," she says. Luciana says he is a good man.

The dad is in the lap of a very young woman, Vicky, who is feeding him cherries. He says next they can be together the whole next weekend.

The mom is not happy to hear how much Pat likes Luciana. It's still a full moon. Well, you're in luck, bitchy mother: Next morning Luciana quits. There's a flashback of Gala saying she didn't like Luciana talking to HER MAN as an equal.

A grandmother is getting her grand-daughter dumped on her. "What should I tell your daughter?" "Tell her I'm looking for a better life for us and I'll be back to get her." If my daughter was as awful as this girl I'd leave her behind too. (Just kidding.)

Gala continues arranging her marriage and her upcoming life of luxe with Rod. We find Melisa is only invited to the wedding because she's Rod's cousin, Gala doesn't like her.

Luciana's mom Paz is hyperventilating because her hand is broken and her daughter is far away. PLOT POINT: "I know it's hard to work in a rich house. My husband Galdino and I worked in the capital as gardeners for some rich folks, in fact, Luciana was born there -- and the one who took care of it all was Matilda, I hope not the same Mati as in the place where Luciana is working."

Pat, waiting for Luciana to come read to him, is furious to hear she's gone. "Was it that witch Brigida that drove her away?" "Nobody is indispensible, especially a servant," barks his crabby mother. "Luciana is my company." He despairs. "Close the blinds."

Luciana comes back to (hungover) Violeta's place. "I quit because I got served with papers - they knew where I was." V. swears she didn't give the address. (But we know she did.)

Dad's doing a conference call from Miami about the new airplanes. Gala calls, Rod says he's way too busy to talk and hangs up on her abruptly. Then Janita calls to say Luciana is gone. That gets his attention - he leaves immediately and goes to her house! "I've come for you." He begs her to come back. Vi thinks he's quite a hunk.

Gala's anorexic bridesmaids help her choose an incredibly expensive wedding dresses. The one she wants will take 4-5 months to be ready.

The priest is chiding Roselena for letting Luciana go. PLOT POINT: "You let her leave because you remember about Aurora?" "Yes, Padre. I don't want it to happen again. I don't want her to come back!"

In Florida Max and his bit-on-the-side go shopping for her. He buys her lingerie and jewelry. She is Vicky, a manicurist at her mother's shop. her mother is Nicole. This is the beauty shop where Roselena has her cruel face anointed.

His phone rings - omom calls to find out when he comes back. His bimbo sulks briefly.

Patricio is sulking in the dark when somebody came to see him. He doesn't want the curtains open, the light bothers him. The guy leaves. Pat cries. He isn't eating again. He won't do his therapy. He's mad because Luciana is gone. The cousin says she's just an unimportant servant.

Gala calls the house - Brigida says the house is in a trance. Rod isn't home and hasn't called. Gala smiles.

Pat is depressed. Here's Gala. We're busy. But she wants to rob him. He doesn't want to go but the guys throw him out with her.

The nice lawyer met her on the worst day of her life. She gives him the citation. She quit fearing the police would come for her at work and she would be so embarrassed.

Rod and Gala are having massages. He says he doesn't feel well. But she has a whole plan. "An other day."

Max and his girlfriend and all her packages get out of a private airplane. He gets home and goes in to see Pat who is depressed. Then Rod goes in.
What happened to you? You can't base recueration on another person. I went to see her and ask that she come back to the house for you. For me or for you? She doesn't want to come back. "Do you think I matter to her? " He says if she doesn't come, he'll take Pat to see him.
Take hiim to a superluxe hotel with champagne and bbbles in the bath.

Pat isn't drugged, he's sad. "Well if his problems are domestic, fix them," says Max. Mom needs to talk to Matilda about Luciana.

The annoing girl has recovered. Mati comes to visit. You have to come back - Patricio is letting himself die.

"You have to recover!" "For my good, I should die, I want to die."

Luciana comes in, in her uniform, Rod grabs her hands and says don't leave again. Open those curtains and see what a pretty day it is! "You are my sun." Rod looks sick with jealousy.

Luciana didn't ask for more money to come back? The mom is pissed. She came to warm Pat's breakfast but the mom wants to talk to her.

Now Pat is smiling. Rod gives him a sponge bath. I appreciate that you came back but we have to clarify somet higns. Everyone has a place in this house. I don't want you talking to the rest of the family. Just do your work, you have nothing in common with Rod or Jana. It's not enough to call her senora, senora rosalena.

She'll b taking care of his clothes food therapy, this is her job.

Gala is due to go back to Rod's house to discuss details of wedding. She's uncomfrotable. He used to look for times to make love. He's avoiding me and I think it's that servant.

Men hate insecure women. YOu, my dear, have everything, so use it.

I need you to testify. "They'll fire me,  this is our only money."  "You should denounce because you deserve respect."

Here waddles the bad guy (like his blls are too big). With cigar. Let that boy win a few cents. Crroked game. Lorenzo.

Luciana hasn't answered Archie's letter.

Lawyer Linares brings white roses to a tombstone. "Aurora my love!" OK, that was the girl the mom Roselena mentioned with distaste and fear.
tter
Max is planning an elevator for the house, but it would be better on  for hiim to be on the first floor.

The mother thinks it's a joke for Gala to have bridesmaids because she's divorced and can't have a church wedding.

Brigida gives a mimosa to Luciana to take out to Gala.

Jana turns down Gala's offer to be a bridesmaid.

Max calsl his little doll

Ant Inferna - why do you want to hurt the girl? Because she rejected me. Money is the universal language.

Tomorrow is your meeting - she hopes Brigida will let her go! Nana, I want you to ask on my behalf that she be allowed to go.

Your friend will be in the jail, but I'll lose my job. Cowards like us, so there consive powerful people who use women like jokes.tinue to be ab

Rodrigo comes to thank Luciana for coming back. You'v given my brother a wish to live. He is very close. She runs away.

It's still full moon.

It's almost Luciana's birthday - and imagine -- PLOT POINT -- Linares tells her it's the same day and year as HIS daughter! The villains arrive. Commercial.

Magda, Paz and Archie are having a sweet conversation when the villain arrives

July, Oscar, and Roselena's sister Connie are going to the theater. I don't know why we care. Rose doesn't like July, she's frivolous. Connie says she should try to like July, who "makes me laugh [not like you you bitter b-tch]." Connie seeks to cheer her sister: "Let's get our nails done." And, surprise, Max's lover Vicky is the designated manicurist, she's going to the big house to file her lover's wife's nails!"

Max is surprised his nephew barged into his office and sat in his chair. Aldo tried to submit somebody else's report card but Max was not fooled. He wants this nephew to start work right away the next morning at 7 am.

The doctor tells Pat: "Your nerves are waking up. Your mood is crucial to your recovery." "I can't wait for Luciana to come so I can show her. She makes me feel complete."

In court: Aurora tells what happened to her at the bar. "He was aggressive, I defended myself. I want to ask this man to leave me in peace." Her accuser is crazy, he yells at and insults the (female) judge so she has him escorted away. Case closed!

Rod asks his buddy Oscar: "Would you have a relationship with a woman who was not of your social level?" "If she's loving, if she respects me, yes. You're worried that families are cruel? I'd put all that aside at our age." Oscar guesses that it's Luciana. "Yes, it's Luciana. I think about her all the time, I want to embrace her..." "Be careful..." "I can't be quiet, it's my heart, I'm in love with Luciana."

Tomorrow: Rosalena and Linares meet over the tombstone of Aurora!

Comments:
Melinama, thanks for the great recap. We can always put a header for this on Mondays if we can't find a recapper for this. It is interesting and now there is the mystery of Aurora.

I love how Luci won her case. That Lastra has got to go. Really, he thought he would win, lol.

I really like that Luci went back to the house. Violetta didn't rat her out to Lastra. It was Ivan the manager of Inferno that did that. Violetta should quit there and get another job. She looked so upset.

Can't stand Frigid. She did that on purpose saying the drink was for Gala when it really was for July. So typical of her. She'll do anything to get rid of Luci.

That Don Aquiles will never give up. I just hope noone ever tells him where Luci went.

There really isn't a problem really recapping this one, the problem is that right now there is no filler, so to speak. Everything they are showing is pertinet to the story line, especially with the rude Mama Rosa, Hawt Rod and Patricio and also Luci. If they just had some filler, like Dinero, or UFCS did it wouldn't take so much time.

There usually isn't filler at the beginning of a series because it's still introducing characters and situations and backstory.

Rosaelena is really getting my dander up and Don Aquiles is completely insane.

And should Patricio have any hope of recovery?

Melinama- I can take on Mondays for you. I know you really needed a break after Familia's marathon. Luckily, there is no way this one can do double episodes beyond the next month, because then we're on schedule with Mexico.

I feel really bad about the heartache that's going to come when Rod and Luci decide to pursue their relationship and Patricio finds out. I really like Pato, but Rod is right that he can't base his recovery on one person. His face just lights up so much when Luci is around. I want her to love him back.

Shame on Rod for not being able to control himself and getting all up in Luci's space/face whenever he can. The fact that 1) he's engaged; 2) his brother is totally in love with Luci; and 3) she could get fired for fraternizing with him, should be enough for him to keep his distance from her.

I wish Luci had negotiated better pay, but I guess it proves to everyone that she really only came back for Patricio.

So I think we can all now be certain that Luci is Lic Linares daughter, and also likely the daughter of the mysterious Aurora. Does Linares believe his daughter is dead, like Aurora?

We also now know that Linares and Luci's parents were connected to the people in the Torreslanda household. Matilde sure as heck knows them all.

We found out the Max's biz partner went to jail. We know that Lic Linares was released from jail some time ago, where he was in for a crime he says he didn't commit (he mentioned it to that other lawyer).

How the hell can someone who's done time still practice law?

I was wondering that too Urban, when he and that other lawyer spoke about it.

UA-you are so right. At the beginning there is usually alot of info, it's later on they use the filler. Patricio does have hope on recovery. Last night, the therapist/doctor told Patricio that his nerve ending were healing from the surgery and if he kept up his therapy he would get movement back. I don't know how much though.

Vivi-Thank you so much for taking Mondays. You are such a great recapper. I can't wait to start reading yours again. I really liked last Tuesdays. You are right about Hawt Rod, he is all up in Luci's space. I hope Frigid never sees it. She is such a chisme queen. Oh, so it was Lic Linares that went to jail for the fraud Julie was talking about. If he is innocent than that only leaves Oscar and Max. I wonder which one did it? They seem nice enough. I think Luci is Linare's too. So how did Paz get Luci? Glad there is a mystery element here.

I just knew Max would find out Aldo's grades, lol. So I wonder where he is going to put him to work? The mail room perhaps lol.

Just a reminder. Refugio is only an hour on Friday. It starts at 6:50PM EST and ends at 7:50PM. Maybe that is why they are doing two hours. It was the same last Thursday and with the Olympics coming up, doesn't UNI show some of that too?

Vivi- are you putting up a header this evening, since we have no Tuesday recapper? If not I can put one up with a very brief bullet style recap. Please let me know.

I'll put one up tonight.

Thank you so much Vivi!

I think it's funny the way Rosa is always using hand cleaner, but I don't think it's funny the way that younger sister is always eating and talking with her mouth full. Has there been a scene yet with her that she hasn't been stuffing her face and talking at the same time?

Anon 12:43: I know Rosa is always using that hand sanitizer, is she OCD I wonder, or trying to wash the guilt off her hands.

Does anyone know what that green drink was that Rosa was drinking? Was that tea by any chance? I am such a foodie, I enjoy all the food in these TN's.

Rosa's obsession with the hand sanitizer is very telling. Madelaine, I think you're right that it symbolizes her trying to wash her guilt away. That's also why she goes to church so often I think.

I missed the green drink. I'll have to pay more attention next time. It likely wasn't anything with alcohol, as she looks down her nose every time someone drinks, and she's always drinking mineral water, even at a party. In La Verdad Oculta, the green drink one of the older actresses was always drinking was creme de menthe..

You are so right about that drink that Yolanda was forever drinking at Adolpho's over on La Verdad Oculta. This green drink that Rosa was drinking was almost a mint green, and you could tell it had no alcohol. She does frown on that. When Julie asked for the mimosa I thought Rosa would tell her no. lol

Melinama--Thanks you for your efforts and honesty. The City vs. Pueblo themes seem to be immensely popular these days. I'm sorry, though that we will be losing your wit and turn of phrase.

If we can keep this going, I can help out after the 15th. If not 1 day a week, at least every other week (vacation has a habit of interfering with telenovelas at the worst possible times).

Please help me out. Did Rod ever recognize Luciana as the girl he met in the Pueblo or when did he? On her day off, when he went to her house, he saw her in her pueblerina outfit complete with headband. Or are they both pretending they've never seen each other. I thought I heard a conversation between Pat and Rod about her and they knew who she was.
Anita

Anita- Yes, both Pat and Rod know that Luci is the girl they met in the pueblo. What Rod doesn't know is that she's the girl he rescued in the club.

Madelaine--It could have been Creme de Menthe, it has a beautiful green color. It could have also been absinthe, popular at the turn of the last century.

Here is an edited description from Wikipedia:

Absinthe is a distilled, highly alcoholic (45–74% ABV / 90-148 proof) beverage. It is an anise-flavoured spirit derived from botanicals, including the flowers and leaves of Artemisia absinthium (a.k.a. "grand wormwood"), together with green anise, sweet fennel, and other medicinal and culinary herbs.

Absinthe traditionally has a natural green colour but may also be colourless. It is commonly referred to as "la fée verte" (the green fairy).

It became a very popular alcoholic drink in late 19th- and early 20th-century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers.

Owing in part to its association with bohemian culture, the consumption of absinthe was opposed by social conservatives and prohibitionists.

Absinthe has often been portrayed as a dangerously addictive psychoactive drug. The chemical compound thujone, although present in the spirit in only trace amounts, was blamed for its alleged harmful effects.

By 1915, absinthe had been banned in the United States and in much of Europe. Although absinthe was vilified, it has not been demonstrated to be any more dangerous than ordinary spirits. Any psychoactive properties attributed to absinthe, apart from that of the alcohol, have been much exaggerated.

A revival of absinthe began in the 1990s, following the adoption of modern European Union food and beverage laws that removed longstanding barriers to its production and sale. By the early 21st century, nearly 200 brands of absinthe were being produced in a dozen countries.

Anita

Oh, Madelaine, sorry, you said it was non-alcoholic. It must have been Green Kool Aid, then.

I'm with you vivi on pato. he seems like such a sweet guy, and he seems to really care about luciana.

about linares still being able to practice law: the only thing I can think of is that if he went to jail maybe it was for something not relating to his law degree or practice so now that he is out he can still practice it (possibly even had to wait some time after getting out before he could again)

or they're using TN logic lol

missed monday's epi so thanks for the recap!

Thank you Vivi. I'm sure she doesn't want him to know that, either.

Can someone clear up something to me? What is Archie's relationship to Luciana? Are they actually related?

The CC was messed up the first hour. :/

@RachelRaquel--Ariche el chamaco is The Only Kid in the Pueblo and he liked hanging out with Luci. As of this episode, they are not related. With all the revelations tonight, who knows....

In the first episode, she asks if he's going to go eat with his folks or stay to eat with them.
