Por ella soy Eva #11 7/31/12: Recapper flakes out, forgets his promised duty, and lets everyone down

I wanted to apologize to everyone who follows this show and to the blog in general. I am disgusted with myself because I managed to air-headedly forget about my new blog schedule between this morning (when I was reminded of it) and this evening.

I am truly sorry and I am committed to never making this mistake again! I was hoping someone more diligent than I could drop some details about tonight's major plot points, and I will be eternally grateful!

-Ezra

Ezra, it could happen to anyone. I forget things all the time.
What I remember, more by topic than sequence:
GI OFFICE--Juan's coworkers are trying to find a new project and catch up with their backlog of work. They don't want to be fired. The bald buy's receptionist wife comes in and the end of the day and stays to help him with work, calling the kids at home to help each other with food, etc.

Plutarch is headed for the project beach, ostensibly for business but mostly for fun. That's why he won't take either wife (Antonia) or bimbo (Rebeca) with him. Toni is sad and Rebe is angry because they had a rendezvous scheduled. He uses code words to tell her to reschedule. He sent his operative ahead to take photos, which involves some funny business but also incriminating photos of JC and Helena kissing passionately on the beach.

HOME FRONT--cranky grandpa tells Lalito women are manipulative, and they have a pact to never tell lies to one another. Grandma overhears and later tells Lalo her different point of view.

BEACH (Project Location)--Helena goes to beach alone, meets with the guy from the Canadian travel company. JC shows up, thinks Helena is with another man, punches him (not sure on this?).

Extended scenes with JC and Helena discussing project, their romance, their feelings. Many smiles and besos. JC finally admits he never read the project. He disses the humble food, then tastes it and declares it is from the angels in heaven (or some such.)

At the end, JC wants to take Helena to bed. She is hesitant but it looks like she agrees in the end. Long kissing with bare shoulders, clothing falling off.

Others please fill in with better info.
La Paloma

Yes, Ezra, it can happen to anyone.

Thanks, Paloma, for filling in.

I don't think JC actually punched the Canadian guy. Helena had something in her eye and the guy was trying to help her get it. JC got the wrong idea but I believe he stopped short of punching him. Then he did his usual story of "oh, it's the custom where I come from" or somesuch.

There was a scene with JC and pals at a bar and a bunch of men were hitting on a woman. I think JC tried to "rescue" her from them (rather than try to pick her up) and this confused her (I could be wrong, didn't get to see the entire scene).

Eduardo had some nerve, telling Lalito that women are manipulative. What a manipulative hypocrite.

Thank you, Paloma, for valiantly filling in. I think you covered it pretty well.

How refreshing to see JC perdidamente enamorado, recognizing he's in love, and even telling people he's in love. Not just to his mama. But even telling his rowdy buddies rather than maintaining his cool, and telling Helena that he's in love, that she's his amor de la vida, and that he wants to be with her forever. It will certainly put a different spin on the period when she hates him (we know it's coming), because he honestly proclaimed his love instead of being stupid about it. Yeah, I know, he's still lying about his identity etc., but still it's a step in the right direction.

What's up with JC wanting to present the project at the concorso? Is it really becasue Helena is "just a woman," or is it something about his job at GI?

Lastly, predictions please. Will they do the deed tonight? It seems inevitable because of their progress. But considering that they placed it at the end-of-show cliffhanger, and those almost never turn out the way they appear... what do you think?

@Ezra...how nice to know that even young people forget things. When I do it, I always fear it's senility setting in. If you're doing it, that gives me hope. Mil gracias.

La Paloma...Mil gracias a ti tambien. I only saw the tail end of this, but I've always admired Jaime Camil's kissing technique. Hope we do get a romantic tender love scene before the chaff hits the fan.

@Julie...Eduardo is every bit as off-putting in this show as he was in Alborada. Bitter and completely contemptuous of women. Ugh. Thought the mother was unbelievably noble in her efforts to redirect Lalito's reasoning. I wouldn't have been as nice!

@Paula...no idea if they'll reach criterion behavior tonight. But I sure hope so! Want Helena to have some good memories even if she subsequently hates the guy.

Plutarch's escape is more than fun & games with neither wife nor mistress. He sent his henchman to Playa M to take photos etc & to use Plutarch's name so that everyone thinks that is where he is. Meanwhile Plutarch is actually traveling elsewhere on a fake passport under Juan's name. He is going to deposit some a lot of money in an account in Juan's name or something like that to make it look like Juan has been cheating the company.

Juan is about to be in a LOT of trouble.

Güera

I love the way all of the people on this site step up.

Ezra, we've all been there. Forgetting is what I do these days.

Thanks to all of you, Paloma, Julie, Paula H, JudyB, who stepped in & provided parts of this recap. You are great!

Güera

Thanks to you too, Güera. I knew Pluto was up to no good but wasn't really sure exactly why he was using JC's name.

I can't guess as to whether they do the deed tonight, but I hope Helena doesn't get knocked up, because I would hate like hell for her father to think he's been proven right. I assume that with all his womanizing, JC is in the habit of taking precautions.

Eduardo was the lousy dad in Alborada too? Wow, I'm shocked that I didn't recognize him. But then I never liked the mean dad in Alborada enough to take a good look at him.

Julie

He is going to deposit a lot of money in an account in Juan's name or something like that to make it look like Juan has been cheating the company.

Oooohhh! Thanks Güera. I caught that he was traveling as Juan, but I didn't catch the banking part. So that's why he got Juan's mom's signature and set up the bank account in her name. I get it. In combination with the files he had Onesimo put onto Juan's computer, the evidence is really stacking up against Juan.

It makes me wonder. Antonia quickly sized up the shenanigans at GI. Then last night she pointed out that business is going to the competition (I have to re-view that for details). So she's good at pulling the truth out of her observations. I wonder if she'll be an important part of Pluto's destruction? She's closer to him plus she has good deductive skills, so she's the most likely to notice holes in his story. That is, when she takes off her rose colored glasses about him.

We were wondering how long the show would run. I just read on Camil's Twitter, that they finished filming about a week ago. That means the Mexican finale is in the next few weeks, right? It started there 2/20. So that would indicate a 6-month show. No wonder the plot is progressing quickly!

Yay! A six-month show. Perfect for us short attention span types.

Julie...I often don't recognize actors if their hair color changes, but I could never forget his voice or his mean, mean mug. He's perfect for villainous roles. Doubt he could ever play a nice guy.

For me the scene not to be missed was Juan apologizing to the Canadian businessman, in Argentinian english, "Ieem sawee" with palms together and traditional Chinese bow. !!! He was crazy cute, so funnie!!!!
I hope Helana does not complete the "criterion behavior". The situation would be worse that her first lover. This one would be seen as using her AND stealing her future. How then could she ever trust her own judgement about men?.

You're right, Bonney. He's speaking English with a thick Arg'n accent. That would be like one of us trying to speak Spanish with a thick Brooklyn or Louisiana accent if it's not our normal manner. Quite a feat!

Reminds me of a friend in language school. He had a VERY thick Texas drawl (Wichita Falls) and was studying Chinese, so spoke Chinese with a drawl. We used to tease him, "Ni hau ma, y'all!"

I heard an interview a few years ago on NPR and the man with Spanish as a primary language was speaking English with a South Carolina drawl. I'm still trying to wrap my head around that.

Another thing that happened last night was our 2 protagonist visited a gift shop. Helena bought a small silver toned box and told Juanperon they would keep their memory trinkets in it. Some children on the beach gave them a shell and Helena put that in it. Of course this little box will pop up in the future and reveal all/something/the jerk or jerkess.

By jerkess I was referring to our Juan in disguise.

Hey, Paula, I knew a guy who learned to speak Thai passably with a Kentucky accent!

Would someone explain JC's behavior in the club? Was he trying to pick up that girl or rescue her?
Thank you for recapping. I'm trying to use the telenovelas to aid my Spanish-language acquisition.

Anon, I'll check on that club scene later today. I know that he was shocked when she said something about school - either she's still in school, or she has to pick up her child from school. That's what made him run away. But I'll get more details for you.

You've chosen a great way to learn Spanish! I tell people that Jaime Camil was my Spanish teacher. You might want to check this web page I wrote about the subject. Learning Spanish by Telenovelas

Thank you, Paula! I will check that page out when I get home this evening.

Re: the club scene... JC was out with his buddies and the cute girl caught their eye. He said something about he could tell she really wasn't into any of the guys surrounding her and was just toying with them. He then decides maybe it's time to get back in the saddle and goes to hit on her. He pretends she is a waitress and asks for drinks and then explains to her (when she goes after him, insulted) that it was just a ploy to get her away from those guys and asks her to go to a more "intimate" bar, just the two of them. She thinks he means his apt, he says no, just a place *near* his apt. Then she says something about having get up early and take her kid to school. I took his reaction to that as she reminded him of Helena and changed his mind about the whole seduction.
Hope that helps clarify.
Thanks to all the recappers for all of your work on this novela!
I heart Jaime Camil :)

Thank you for the clarification, Isabel! That explains why he fled. In an earlier episode, he proclaimed his "standards" - no old women, no single moms, etc. Helena is the exception. In oh, so many ways.

I thought it was cute that those suitors were all trying to outdo each other to get her attention, and getting nowhere. But JC caught her attention, and got a slight show of approval, before he even got out of his chair, just by looking at her.

Thank you, Paula and Isabel, for your clarifications.
Paula, I found your article and site very helpful. I, too, prefer to watch the telenovelas without captions. I find that it forces me to listen closely.
