Por ella soy Eva #33 8/31/12: Marcela Gets Her Job Back; Pluto Covers His A$$ets

This recap is not in any order, it is more in storyline order.

We begin tonight with Silvia and the Bastardo bringing Lalito to visit his Mama Helena. She is so very happy to see him. Eva and Pluto have come too, and Lucia is also there. The Bastardo pipes up that the only reason that he brought Lalito to see his Mama is cause Pluto talked him into it. Oh, the horror. Pluto speaks up and says he wants Helena to be calm and productive with the Playa project and she is such an asset to the company. You can tell the Bastardo so isn't buying it. Eva, I think, even apologizes to the Bastardo for her behavior earlier. He dismisses her in his usual toxic way.

Marcela is at home, poor thing, dressed down in some old clothes and is ironing Ferni's shirt. She is crying like crazy as she is doing her job as the domestica of the family. Her daughter Jennifer, bless her heart, comes upon her crying Mama and asks her what is wrong? Marcela trys to play it off, but Jennifer calls her Mama a princessa, how sweet, and Marcela opens up about how sad she is to give up that job she really loved, and now she is stuck keeping house. Jennifer, smart, sweet girl, tells her she'll help and besides she isn't alone there is Kevin and Papa as well and she, Jennifer will help her Mama. Her Mama wants her help, but also wants the guys to help too. Jennifer goes and here comes Ferni and dumps another shirt, almost on top of the one that Marcela is already ironing. Marcela is still crying and he doesn't even really notice. He wants that shirt done too. She tells him she misses the work at G.I., but he tries to get lovey, dovey with her and tells her this is best, stay home, take care of the kids and especially him. While she's at it, he wants some type of special dinner when he gets home, it sounded like enchiladas, with lots of sauce. He wants kiss after kiss, and keeps calling her flaquita, he goes, while Marcela still cries. Well, she gets a call from, wait for it, Eva. Eva tells her no worries, she is going to bat for her to get her job back. Yay. Marcela is happy to hear that.

Santiago is meeting with Angelica. She is pithed at him cause he is marrying Paty. Unbeknownst to the both of them, Paty has followed Santi and is hiding behind a pillar. She bribes a waiter, with some money, to have his cell phone on, so she can hear what Santi and Angelica are talking about. Meanwhile, Angelica wants to know why Santi is marrying Paty? Does he love Paty? He admits he doesn't. Poor Paty hears this thru her cell phone. Well Angelica asks Santi if he loves Angelica. He says he does. Well, she tells Santi, then let's get married. Santi is like no, I am marrying Paty, because she would never forgive his infidelity if she knew. Well Angelica huffily gets up from the table, basically tells Santi, hasta la vista baby, and leaves. Paty has heard the whole thing and is crying like, well a bebe.

Meanwhile back at the Lalito visitation, Silvia and Helena have a moment and Helena tells Silvia she is getting a lawyer to see about getting custody of Lalito. Old Bastardo doesn't hear and Helena is giving him a dagger of a look. If looks could kill, he'd be dead. The visit is very short, and they all go, except Eva. She stays with Helena.

Eva finally goes and witches at Mimi that Pluto thinks he has Helena. JC is very suspicious of Pluto's motives as far as Helena is concerned. He thinks Pluto is on the hunt, which Helena doesn't suspect. Helena thinks that Pluto is just helping her out with Lalito.

Eva goes to see Antonia about Marcela getting her job back. She is in cheerleader mode and convinces Antonia to go to bat for Marcela with Adriano. While Antonia is getting ready, Eva calls Marcela and tells her the good news that she is to come to a meeting to get her job back. Eva also snuck down to Pluto's office again, looking for proof of the fraud and found the safe behind the painting. After a little while we have Antonia, Eva, and Marcela in a meet with Adriano. Antonia takes the lead and tells Adriano that Marcela should get her job back. She is a hard worker, does great work and Eva as the supporting Evalette chimes right along with her. Adriano, however, says his word is irrevocable. Marcela won't be getting her job back. Before Eva can get her dander up, Antonia tells them to go wait in the hall and she will talk to Adriano alone. Eva and Marcela go in the hall, the blue skirts see them and are overjoyed to see Marcela. Marcela says she still doesn't have her job back and Eva and the Evalettes try to cheer her up with their act, this time they actually sang a little, lol.

Meanwhile, Antonia is talking to Adriano about Marcela. She says they need more women in this company, especially women like Marcela that work really hard. Adriano doesn't agree, he says her family obligations get in the way of her job. Antonia says that this is like a macho company, men are in charge everywhere and the women here work really hard, but really aren't in charge of anything, and by the way don't forget I am a boss here and can make decisions. There is a little back and forth with Adriano trying to get the upper hand and claim this is HIS company, but Antonia corrects him and says it is also part mine and things need to change. Adriano thinks she is becoming a feminist! He asks if she is happy. She says she is, but she can't have children and it is bugging her. Adriano softens somewhat and asks why she and Pluto don't adopt. She tells him Pluto would rather have a child with his blood. Antonia tells Adriano he is lonely and needs to find a wife, someone who loves and cares for him. Adriano is so not down with that. He is not the marrying kind. Antonia just wants him to find someone to love and care for him. She said something about being fat too, I didn't get. They have a nice hug.

Antonia comes out of the meeting and informs Marcela she has her job back. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy all around. Eva and the Evelettes have a little dance. Eva, Marcela and Antonia go to the little office Marcela had worked in . Evidently Marcela will be working for Antonia. They are all very happy, and Eva keeps clapping in her cheerleader way, when, wait for it. Ferni comes in and is flabbergasted to see Marcela there. He wants to know why she isn't at home ironing and making that dinner for him, not really, but you get the picture, but he is mad she is there, she should be home. Antonia informs him she is the boss and Marcela works for her, he can just go so she can work. Ferni leaves with is tail between his legs.

Helena comes to see Pluto to thank him for helping her with the visit to Lalito. She would like to thank Antonia too for her help, but Pluto puts the kibosh on that. He says they always wanted children, but alas they can't cause Antonia can't have any. She's touchy on the subject. Well, Helena thanks him and tells him to thank her, for her. This meeting is then interrupted by Rebeca. She sees Helena and kind of sneers at her, and Helena leaves. Rebeca closes that door and starts giving Pluto a hard time about what he is doing with Helena AGAIN. He explains he is only helping her with her child, nothing more, he isn't interested in her, yeah as if. He also tells Rebeca about Antonia not being able to have children and Rebeca says well when we get married, I'll have your baby, but only one ok? Smoochies.

Mimi has come to G.I. to give the chicas, the blue skirts, their Avon order. Bad timing, cause here comes Adriano and addresses her as Senora again. She corrects him again and says she is a SENORITA, por favor. Adriano tells her this is a place of bidness and when he comes back, he expects not to see her there. He tells the chicas to get back to work and Mimi is very pithed at him for treating her so badly.

Lucia is talking to Helena about Maurico again, what a grand guy and she wants to marry him, blah blah, while Helena rolls her eyes and tries to caution her to slow down some. They also mention the Playa project and Helena wants to get with Antonia about it, cause Pluto's work was based on Antonia's thesis. I think Pluto got together with Antonia too about giving help to Helena with the Playa project. While Rebeca is macking on Pluto, Helena and Antonia are approaching Pluto's office. Pluto and Rebeca stop just in time, as Helena and Antonia come in, and he is talking something about work when Helena asks him for Antonia's thesis so they can compare notes on the Playa project. Antonia goes to kiss Pluto as Rebeca rolls her eyes. He says, sadly, the thesis is at home. He is pleased to have the three most important women in G.I. in his office. They all go, and Pluto is sweating blood about that thesis. They are so NOT getting that.

It is evening and Pluto and Antonia are at home. Antonia wants to go out, but Pluto claims he is sick and tired and needs some sleep. Antonia tries to talk him into it, but no go. So of course she calls Eva to go.

Meanwhile, Eva has gone home and this is a funny scene. She is like any woman that has had a hard day. Her feet are killing her and the pantyhose are rubbing her the wrong way. She has pitched those shoes off, and just like the guy she really is, spreads the legs for some air. Mimi is there and Eva is telling her about her day, when the phone rings. It is Antonia and she wants Eva to join her for a night out. Well, Eva is trying to get out of it, but Antonia prettily begs and cajoles and Eva finally agrees to go with her.

Eva and Antonia have gone to a club, it looks like a disco. Antonia and Eva are talking and Eva is sort of dancing in the seat. Suddenly, Antonia wants to go. Eva asks her why. Well, Antonia tells Eva not to look, but there is a guy there, behind Eva at a table that used to be a boyfriend of Antonia's. Eva says wow, and turns around and looks. Well, this guy sees Antonia! And what does he do? That's right he goes right over to Antonia and Eva's table and says hi, you remember me? Antonia pretends she doesn't know him and says and you are? Samuel, you remember we used to go out. Well Antonia says oh, Samuel haven't seen you in years. He asks her to dance and Eva encourages her to go. She does and then this guy comes over to ask Eva to dance, he has been watching her seat dancing so to speak. He claims he must have died and gone to heaven or an angel dropped from heaven. Eva giggles but doesn't dance with him.

Marcela and family are at home with a nice dinner, I am sure Marcela made. Ferni is still being snotty and Marcela is having a heart to heart with the whole family. She tells them she has gone back to work, to the job she really loves and that from now on, they are all a team. She can't be doing everything by herself anymore. She wants them all to help around the house, and Jennifer encourages her papa to be helping out. He is still being surly. The kids agree to help and are happy for their Mama, but Ferni not so much. As he was calling her flaquita earlier in the day, she calls him flaco and gives him little kisses till he softens a bit.

After Antonia has left to go with Eva, Pluto gets to it toute de suite. He goes to his home office safe and gets out Antonia's thesis. He says noone is getting this thesis, cause then they'll know what he did. He goes outside, gets a bucket, throws the thesis in, with some lighter fluid and sits outside while it burns to cinders.

In the bummer part of the epi, it starts out nice enough. Silvia and Lalito are doing their homework together. Helena is there with Lalito and he says he misses her so much. Well, ole Bastardo has been listening behind the door as he always does and comes in. You can tell he doesn't want to hear that. Silvia says dinner will be up as soon as she finishes what she is doing. He gives her a cold, hard stare. Lalito goes to his room and Bastardo rounds on Helena and says she is prohibited from the house and seeing Lalito. He leaves the room. Helena tells Silvia she is getting the papers together, with her lawyer, to get custody of Lalito and take him from this house!

Advances:

Looks like the Bastardo has an infarto.

Comments:
I liked the part of this epi with Eva coming home and complaining about her feet in those heels, too funny. I remember when I did that. Those shoes are a killer.

Hopefully now, Ferni will wake up. Marcela does the majority of the work at work, when she was on the Playa team with Santi and Ferni and all the work at home. I love the way Jennifer treats her. So sweet. Kevin should take a lesson from Jennifer.

Adriano now, I really didn't think he would give Marcela that job back. Love how Antonia is coming into her own and taking charge. Now if she would just get wise to Pluto and all the bs he slings. She should put him on notice again as she did before. Maybe Eva will drop the Samuel bomb, lol.

Bastardo, what can I say. I don't want to rant again, but this guy has got to go. He is horrific in the unreasonable hate of his daughter, I just can't understand how he can hate this wonderful woman his daughter is. He has no heart and least of all any love. He treats his poor wife the same way. Maybe, according to the previews if he has this infarto it will wake him up to his inhumanity toward what should be the two most important women in his life.

Thank you for the recap, Madelaine. I always appreciate when the Fri recap goes up Fri night.

So Marcela's family is going to do housework? Can we look forward to iron-scorched shirts, blackened frijoles, and pink underwear? She really needs to get a chacha. Someone to come in the morning and do the laundry, bathrooms, and last night's dishes. With Marcela making an executive's salary, certainly they could swing it.

I liked the scene between Toni and Adriano. I also like when Toni uses her "I own this company too, y'know!" Not just with Adriano but also with the employees. She has learned to use it quite effectively. You go girl!

I had to laugh when they were at Helena's apt, Pluto was acting all sweet, and Eva said, "Oh yes, Pluto is such an angel. An angel that fell from heaven - BAM!" e.g. Lucifer.

Madelaine, I really liked how you portrayed Marcela and her daughter's interaction. You emphasized how sweet that scene was. But I did think Fernando responded better than he has in the past. He was just barely reluctant when saying he was outvoted 3 to 1 for everyone pitching in at home. For the first time I felt some connection to him. You're right- he's like a little rooster the way he postures. I think I'm going to call him gallito from now on. There's a lot of animal imagery in this show- wolf, whale, piranha, a rat with two legs (UA implied that refers to a song- I thought I'd translated it wrong).

And Paula H was right about Eva and the Evalettes! They even did a little dance with the old Motown hand moves yesterday. Good call.

Thank you Madelaine! That was a great recap.

The Fernando/Marcela story was strange. Will that be the end of his machismo? If so, it was the quickest turnaround ever! It looked like he was on his way to being a "team player" already. I was hoping for a little more drama before a satisfying resolution.

Do you think Pluto is sincere in his desire to have a little Pluto? He was certainly convincing, especially in his scene with Rebecca. Could he have a spark of humanity?

I also want to say thank-you-in-advance to all the recappers. I'm going to be out of town, away from tvs and possibly internet, for the next two weeks, but I hope to catch up via Caray whenever I can.

Thanks Madelaine Loved the recap.

Antonia is really finding her inner self. I loved how she stood up to Adriano and Fernando. Maybe the unexpectedly cooperative Fernando is reacting to the way that Antonia told him that if he didn't cooperate she might fire HIM. The dinner table scene was pretty satisfying. Marsela took just the right tack asking them to be a team. Fernando didn't like it but he went along. I loved the way Jennifer stepped in & handed the server to him.

The thing that Antonia said about being fat was that she couldn't get pregnant because of her obesity.

Lots of good scenes in this episode -- but I vote with others for the scene when Eva comes home & kicks off her/his shoes. I love watching Camil make those quick transitions between Juan & Eva. He's amazing.

Güera

Good Morning y'all. Loved all the comments.

Paula- I try and get the recap up the same day it airs. I don't take notes for this one, just from memory, and while it is fresh in my mind I like to post it.

Ithabill--I am taking a wait and see with Ferni. Ya know, when he feels intimidated he backs down pretty quick, but get him with Santi or remember when JC was part of that team, the macho was oozing out of every pore so to speak, lol.

Mil in NC-- I don't know about Pluto wanting a child, for realz. He is using the "Lalito" excuse to get close to Helena, but maybe Lalito is having an effect on him. We'll have to see.

Guera--thanks for what Antonia said. So sad. But she is trying to fix that, and good for her she is doing this for herself and not anyone else. I like her bangs and that painting of her at the house.

Oh, and Paula nailed it with Eva and the Evalettes. I am a huge fan of Motown with the girl groups and the guys too. Such great harmony.

Bill - Fernando as "Gallito" - perfect!

Maybe with Gallito we'll get to see a gradual change. I know that's unheard of in TN's - transformations are usually instant. But this TN is so good in other ways, maybe they'll surprise us.

Speaking of change, I agree. Camil's instant changes between Eva and Juan are wonderful. Especially when he's at home in jeans, and his phone rings. He doesn't just change his voice, he changes his mannerisms and the way he carries himself. Instantly. Try this: when he's dressed as Juan but on the phone as Eva, pause your recording and look at him. Even without the voice and without the movements, you can SEE that he's being Eva, not Juan. Incredible. He did the same thing in LEPerez where he played three personas - Gonzalo, his twin Martin, and Gonzalo impersonating Martin. They looked the same and dressed the same, so he could only differentiate them by how they moved and carried themselves, and a slight change in voice. It was a masterpiece!

As for the Motown moves. Fea had some hilarious little moments. In Cap 295, Fernando and Aldo were supposed to just listen in a meeting, but they syncronized their moves, ala The Pips, even to the point of a choreographed spin! See the screenshots.

I love how Juan is learning exactly how bad it is to treat women like third class citizens.

Here is Rata de dos Patas by Paquita la del Barrio. Disfrutala!

Oh, I get it. Two-legged rat. As in a human. I was feeling sorry for a maimed rodent. Thanks, UA, I enjoyed the song. Full of yet more animal imagery.

Paula-- thanks for the pics they were so funny. I never saw LFMB but those pics were priceless too funny. Yeah, I forgot to mention in my last post that I like the Motown moves too. I like all the picture perfect moves they made on stage, like Eva and the Evalettes. I wonder if Camil studied some old videos for that.

Urban- loved the video of Paquita la Del Barrio, very appropriate, lol. I have never seen her perform before, although I have heard of her. I will look at more of her videos on Youtube.

I get all the animal imagery here. It is too funny. I like what Paula said about the rooster image I thought of when I saw Ferni with that chest all puffed up. It was the first thing I thought of. He is always thrusting that chest out. And I like your name for him Ithabill.

Madelaine, thanks for the recap. Lots of great comments to enjoy as well. Such a struggle for all the women here. What's the quip about women having to do everything a man does and in high heels?

La Paloma

Madelaine, a few years ago I took a friend to a Vicente Fernandez concert; Paquita opened for him. I sent her some lyrics with the translation in advance so she could laugh along with all the women in the audience.

Enjoy Taco Placero.

Thanks Madalaine. Great episode, great recap.

So relieved to see Marcela get her job back--as well as the possibility of coaching her family to work as a team, rather than the traditional "females do all the work in the home while the males lounge and play games or watch sports." Instant changeover? We'll see.

Delighted to learn that there is a former fiancé in Antonia's past. We've been wondering if she would divorce Plu once she learned the truth about him...this seems to open up that possibility.

Still, the actor playing Plu is so adorable that sometimes---like when he is really listening to Helena, or burying his face in her hair while hugging her--you want to root for his redemption. He's just too lovable to be a convincing villain at times. Not so with the actor playing Eduardo. Such a nightmare I can't even conceive of him being a nice guy in real life. But hope I'm wrong.

Thanks for another great job. You and double-duty Marta are our busiest, hard-workingest recappers.
And both of you are carrying lots of responsibility at home as well.

Thanks, Madelaine. Glad Marcela is back to work already.

But honestly, my favorite moment was seeing Eduardo with an infarto in the avances. Assuming he survives, he will probably blame Helena and Silvia for his infarto. I REALLY don't want to see Helena and Silvia buying into that, feeling guilty and agreeing to whatever he wants.

And about Pluto burning Antonia's thesis: Is that seriously the only copy in existence? I doubt it. I would think she'd have at least an electronic copy of it.

Also, Antonia is already aware that "Plutarcho's proposal" was very different than her thesis. With or without that thesis, sooner or later Toni will get to chatting with Helena about Playa Majagua and realize not only that they had different ideas about PM, but that Helena knows all about the place and Pluto does not.

Helena will also probably be able to produce the notes she took when she did her research. Pluto will not.

Thanks, Madelaine for the recap and UA for the song.
I love reading these comments, I learn so much from everyone. Thank you to all.
I was thinking, is it too off kilter for Adriano and Mimi to get together? The thought came to me when Antonia was talking to her brother and then Mimi was in the next scene. Just a thought.- hmmmm!

Thanks, Madelaine for the recap and UA for the song.

Tablet jefa..Not off kilter at all. I think that romance was telegraphed a week or so ago whem Mimi first laid eyes on him and decided she needed to convert him to a man who appreciated more mature ladies. Certainly Patty Navidad could persuade just about anybody, don't you think1?

I would think Mimi could persuade Adriano, given the opportunity. What I don't get is why she'd be interested in him. He's been a disrespectful grouch every time she's seen him.

Ah but Julie, clearly Mimi loves a challenge. After all, look what she's done with Juan Caballero.

Urban- thanks for the second video. It was lol.

Judy and Tablet Jefe- I too wondered about Mimi and Adriano. I'm with Julie there, I don't know what she would see in him, but he is a challenge to her I think like Judy says. Mimi has done alot with JC.

I like how JC is seeing everything from a woman's point of view now. I like how Eva is taking up for Marcela and Antonia. I think he highly regrets the remarks he used to make about Antonia. JC was very superficial and just cared about women for one thing. Now that he is getting to know these women for who they are, he is changing his view pretty quickly.

Julie-- about the thesis. I think I know why he burned it. In the beginning he implied that his "work" came from Antonia's thesis right? When in fact it was based mainly on Helena's work. So if the two women would compare their work, the thesis and Helena's Playa work they would see that he plagerized from both. He doesn't want that, cause Helena had her own little bidness going at the time. So they would wonder how he got her info in the first place. I know they accused JC of giving that info to Helena, but Antonia and Helena are smart and they would figure something out. Is that making sense? He is trying to cover his tracks.

I hope the infarto incapcitates the Bastardo enough so he can't get custody of Lalito. I know it would be a great burden on Silvia though. Maybe he will be in rehab for some time and away enough so Helena can get custody back.

Mimi & Adriano? Absolutely? What does she see in him? I see a lot of good in Adri.
* He cares deeply for his sister.
* He's the first man in the company, other than JC, to recognize that women might be competent.
* Deep down he knows he looks like a fool with his chippie - the disco scene shows that. And he knows she's all wrong for him - the scene at his house shows that.
* I don't blame him for the Marcela issue. She made math errors, she took two family phone calls in an important client meeting, and she suddenly quit and just as suddenly changed her mind. From what he could see, she was a flake.
* He really is a pussycat. And he has a good heart. His other interactions tell me he is CAPABLE of seeing a girlfriend as more than just a bed-warmer.

The problem is, he is very easily led. He blusters, "I'm the boss; do it my way!" But look how easily certain people can change his mind, those who know how to manage him - Antonia, Pluto, and Juan back in the day. There was an obvious spark when he first saw Mimi. I think that's why he's so harsh to her now. She struck a chord in him and that scared him, because she doesn't fit his profile - under 25 and docile. But as soon as she gets her little boot-bedecked toe in the door with him, he's a goner!

I don't quite understand this dynamic, but maybe Adri is being presented as more of a Norteño type, less of a Chilango type. He's not as sophisticated and metropolitan as the other executives. He does everything more slowly and he's not so high strung. He'd enjoy himself more in the stands of a rodeo than a tennis match.

Thanks Madelaine. Obviously he is trying to cover his tracks, but hasn't it crossed his mind that there may be other copies? Even if Toni doesn't have another printed copy, she may have an electronic copy. Or the university may have one.

Also, I don't believe he used any portion of her thesis. I'm pretty sure he copied Helena's proposal wholesale. He didn't even remember that Toni had done her thesis on Playa Majagua until she reminded him.

Toni didn't get a good look at the proposal, but in the short time she did see it (before he took it away from her) she remarked that it wasn't much like her thesis at all. (I think she actually said it conflicted with the conclusions in her thesis, but I could be wrong about that.)

If he disappoints her enough, perhaps she will take a closer look at that proposal and realize just how different it is from her thesis. Even if there is no surviving copy, she can testify as to what was in it. That will demolish his defense against the plagiarism charge.

So, maybe he thinks burning it buys him a little time, but what's Antonia going to think when he says he "lost" it? He'll just look guiltier.

Julie now I get it. I always felt I was missing something and you nailed it. You are right, he didn't use Antonia's thesis. He used Helena's project as the basis of his "work". I so agree there has got to be some other copy of Antonia's thesis. The university should definitely have one. So now I get why he was burning it. Antonia and Helena would figure out that he only used Helena's Playa project and not Antonia's at all.

Paula- You are so right about Adr. I can now see why he wouldn't want to rehire her. I still think when Marcela left the room, a couple epi's ago, Ferni fudged the numbers on the computer while Marcela was gone. Julie was right on the money about that. I see Adri as kind of old school. Never really worked with women in a supervisory role, only saw them as underlings that came and went alot and now he is seeing what women are capable of doing. It impresses him, I think, but he is still a little old school. I like the fact that Antonia calls him on it and also he saw what Marcela is capable of also. He is a little Norteno and Chilango combined I think.

Querida Julie, you've forgotten one of the fundamental laws of physics of Televisa's alternate universe.

Everyone believes everything the villain says.
Nobody believes nothin' the hero says.

Is there a show tonight (Monday) or is it a holiday schedule?

There's a show on now and it's new. Yay!!
