Amor Bravío #40 (Uni 35) Mon 10/8/12

Capitulo 40: Un Patán, Dos Asesinos, Tres Reptils, y Un Violador

Lo del Pasado

Ximeana notices that Andres has the same birthmark as she does.  Camila asks El Diablo to calm down about the paranoia regarding Daniel and her friends' possible involvement. As El Diablo does a slow burn behind her she reasserts her authority over the situation. Viewers should now be getting seriously peeved at Mama Metiche for doubting her ability to handle this.

Lo de Nuevo

La Malquerida, porch:   Rudolfo confronts Leoncio over the theft of his paycheck. He guesses (we think correctly) that this is because he defended Natalia. Leoncio is three sheets to the wind, but still pulls out his knife.  However, Rudolfo tells the sleazebag that all this is changing because he won't have Alonssso to protect him anymore. There will be a new administrator who will not be inclined to believe him.

Outside the Restaurant:   Mama Metiche and El Diablo exit the restaurant. As she speculates on how he found out what he was not supposed to know, he tells her that it doesn't matter; since they are engaged it's normal for her to tell him what happens at the ranch. Augustina looks apprehensive, saying that she does not interfere with Camila's decisions regarding the ranch. Camila had finally recovered here strength after the death of Luis and is her own boss. El Diablo tells her she should be pointing out all the mistakes Camila is making by trusting “those people.” Further that he has the impression that Camila has something against him and perhaps they should break up. The Hitchcock chase music begins in the violin section as Augustina begins to panic. El Diablo – with his usual hubris – says that since Camila will not respect him and give him his proper place the situation is very uncomfortable for him. He takes a long step away, prompting stupid Augustina to plead with him not to, saying she cannot stand being separated from him. This ploy having worked, he gets her to promise to speak to Camila about this because he will not tolerate any more rudeness from Camila or anyone else. She looks afraid. She should.

Restaurant:   Camila is baffled that Daniel would make his appearance in this manner. Rafael and Viviana speculate that he is observing the possibilities in view of the bad situation. He may not even trust Rafael. Camial asks whether he had anything to do with this and Rafael swears he didn't. Camila wants to talk to Daniel and clear up the issues. Rafael suggests they leave and go to his place to check for messages. He asks the waiter for the check.

La Malquerida, Master Bedroom:  Alonssso -- looking even skinnier in his dark pjs --  slithers into the bed he doesn't deserve. [When the time comes Camila should clear this room out, have it fumigated, exorcised, and buy all new furniture and bedding.] Ximeana enters without knocking in her usual ramerawear (pink this time) for obvious reasons. Alonssso asks about the others and she tells him they are still at the restaurant. After assuring him she didn't think Camila was fair to him and his friends she slithers into bed with him. To the sounds of “Te Odio” they proceed to the komodo mating rituals.

Outside the Restaurant:   Camila exits with Viviana and Rafael, not knowing that Julian is watching from behind a nearby tree. Viviana spots him, however, and alerts her that they are being followed and Rafael realizes he himself has probably been followed for a while. Camila asks where Daniel is, as he is not nearby, then looks behind her; henchman Julian pretends to be drunk. He is a poor actor; she isn't convinced. Camila confronts him by grabbing the jacket, exposing the scorpion tattoo on the left side of his neck, and asks him what the hell he is doing. “Did Daniel order you to follow us? Who sent you? Who sent you?” She stares him down, but he runs away in the opposite direction. Rafael and Viviana almost panic.  "He was following you!"  “This could be the guy who killed Daniel's wife!” “He could have had a gun or a dagger!” Camila apologises to them for her impulsive action. In the alley around the corner, Julian calls his master to report what happened, saying that “the pretty one with blue eyes” spotted him and there was a confrontation with the darker-haired one. El Diablo handles this very smoothly in front of stupid Augustina as though he were closing a deal with his broker. “I know whom you are referring to. Just get free of them and I'll get to you in a bit.” As he ends the call and Augustina asks “Is there a problem?” “Just business.” “At this hour?” Even El Diablo can lose his cool as he says “Business has no hours, Augustina, puleeeze!” as though she had the IQ of a rock. He then directs them back to his car.

Rafael's Apartment:  There is a close-up of his computer open on the desk as the three friends arrive. Rafael opens his e-mail to a missive from “Daniel” who expresses happiness at the inheritance that will change his life. Also concern that “Camila or someone in her family” could be attempting to prevent him inheriting the ranch.  Alonssso's name comes up in this, but Camila doesn't think he is a killer.

Master Bedroom:   In contrast to last week's discretion we are forced to witness the hybrid mating of a komodo and a viper to the tune of their lust theme. Augustina walks down the corridor calling Ximeana's name; for a moment we hope the little snake doesn't hear her. However, the music turns darker because she does. She is amused while Alonssso panics possibly because this surely must be melting his sword. He bolts out of bed, grabbing his robe while she wraps herself in the sheet and grabs her pink snakeskin ramera dress. Her amusement implies an expertise with this situation that he does not possess. She moves into his space for a few seconds, provoking an amusing panicked expression on his face before retreating through the glass-paned doors, closing them behind herself.

Rafael's Apartment:   Camila writes a reply to “Daniel” saying. “Dear Daniel, I am Camila. I am sorry for what happened to your family. I swear to the memory of my Uncle Daniel whom I adored that I am not the one responsible. But we need to talk. We need to see each other. It would please me for you to name the time, place, and conditions of our meeting. Come alone and tell no one except Rafael. I await your answer.” She hits the “send” button and steps back.

Corridor:   Alonssso steps out as does Hissadora, and Augustina asks if they have seen Ximeana. Hissadora says something about her saying she would be following shortly behind, possibly with the chauffeur. Alonssso says he doesn't remember hearing that. He came home because he was tired and a bit annoyed. Augustina says he will have a migraine with what she has to tell them. After seeing Daniel Diaz Acosta in the group photo. Hitchcock music as Hissadora's eyes almost fall out. Augustina goes on about this “bastardo” [¡Salud!] is alive, watching them, circling and stalking them like a wolf. [acechar] [I truly want to slap her flat here.] They looked through the whole restaurant but couldn't find him. Camila also looked outside for the bastardo [¡Salud!] but to no avail and they hope that he will communicate his plans tomorrow. She leaves the komodos, saying she has to find Ximeana and deal with her. Hissadora and her creepy hijastro panic, thinking they need to speak to El Diablo. He says “Let's go to your room” but she overrules him, saying “No, to yours.”  She pushes past him before he can stop her.

Outside:  We are cheated of what would have been an amusing scene as Ximeana escapes the hacienda in her pink ramerawear. She looks to both sides to make sure she is unseen, then carefully walks on the grass so her FM shoes make no sound on the pavement as Andres appears, watching he turn to her right. He follows her.

Master Bedroom:  Suspense music as Hissadora is on the phone with El Diablo and Alonssso squirms near the glass doors. We don't hear his end of the conversation but she provides it for us, agreeing that the photographer and the writer must be his accomplices [aliados] while watching Komodo Jr stare out the glass-paned door. She says they will speak calmly about this in the morning, wishes him goodnight, then ends the call.

Alonso:    What happened?
Isadora:    It's true.
Alonso:    Desgraciado! How is it possible that this jerk is alive, right under our noses?
Isadora:    And how is it possible that you are fooling around [revolcar] with Ximena under Camila and her mother's noses? Don't try to deny it!
Alonso:    I won't deny it. You know what? When I'm with her I'm at peace and forget my problems. She was my cure, the salvation of my manhood.
Isadora (somewhat condescending):    Wow! We must give thanks to Saint Ximena! Are you cured?
Alonso:    Yes. In every extension of that word, Mother.
Isadora:    Then therefore demonstrate that with Camila! That's what's important to us, not that whore sister of hers. [zorra] (raises her hand to hit him, but stops herself) Do what you want with her, but don't fool around with her in this house and in this bed. Because if either Camila or Augustina finds you it will be our death sentence!

Would anyone care to gamble on this outcome? Lloyd's will take your wager until the next episode.

Courtyard, by the Fountain:   Ximeana doesn't manage to sneak back in as Augustina finds her. Augustina doesn't accept her explanation about taking a walk; she knew when she entered the restaurant with Alonssso that something scaly was going on. She calls her out on her lack of discretion. Ximeana has no wish to listen to this and in her usual bratty manner, tells her she won't listen to her, doesn't give a damn, then turns and enters the hacienda. Neither sees Andres, who is observing and listening from behind a pillar.

Viviana's Apartment:  She tells Aaron what a stir all this made, how El Diablo nearly burned up before them, and how Hissadora behaved. He asks what she has to do with this. Viviana doesn't know exactly, but is sure she is involved. They hear the doorknob being turned. Someone is trying to get in and they freeze. “It's him!” The music goes into minor keys in both the string and brass sections as Aaron directs Viviana to go to the next room. As soon as she does he quickly opens the door and Bruno almost falls in with his hand on the knob.

Aaron:    I have to know who is trying to get in here like a thief.
Bruno:    This is Viviana's house (tries to walk past him)
Aaron (stopping him with a hand to his right shoulder):    Ay, ay. (pushes him back to just outside the door. From this moment forward he keeps his right hand on the door.) This is also my place and you have absolutely nothing to do here.
Bruno:    Hey? Of course not. I know Viviana lives here alone.
Aaron:    Ah! You have been spying on her. [espiar] So it's better for you to know that I live with her now.
Bruno:      Look, Viviana is my wife.
Aaron:    No. She was your wife, Bruno. Now it's better you go away and not return.
Bruno:    So, you want to fight me?
Aaron:    Viviana has denounced you for entering this house unauthorized and for your acts of violence. If you don't want me to call the police now you'll go away and never return again.
Bruno:    Listen to me well. She is mine and always will be. It's better if you know that.
Aaron:    No. She is my woman now and it's better you know that because I will not repeat it. Now it's better if you go. Don't you hear me? Get out! (slams the door)

It doesn't appear that he locked the door, but Viviana comes back into the room. He embraces her as she cries in fear or relief; we're not certain which.

Cabaña:   Andres enters carefully, carrying a single yellow daisy. He places it on the bed and turns on Camila's computer, seeing the communication.

Outside the Gate:  Rafael has driven Camila home. She thanks him, kisses him on the cheek, and he drives away as she enters the grounds.  The music does not imply pending romance.

Cabaña:   Andres closes the computer and puts it back on the bed. He picks up the flower and is about to put it somewhere when Camila enters.

Camila:    What are you doing here at this hour?
Daniel:    I was awaiting your return to make sure you were alright, and bringing you this flower. (presents it) I hope this is the one that pleases you.
Camila:    Don't do this again. (he closes in and kisses her left cheek as their love theme begins) Andres, por favor, por favor, por favor, no..  (♪♫♫Divina tu♪♫)
Daniel:    Why don't you permit yourself to feel what you want to feel? Let yourself stop crying. Let your heart, your body, your flesh – (punctuates this with kisses until he gets to her lips. Rafael enters)
Rafael:    Camila!

Camila and Andres separate quickly, but Rafael didn't miss what had transpired.

Camila:    What is it, Rafael?
Rafael:    Excuse me; you left this in my car.
Camila:    The photo. (turns to Daniel) Thanks for the water, Andres. Good night.
Daniel:    Good night, Señora. (exits as she opens the photo folder)

Rafael makes an awkward exit as Camila picks up the daisy and imagines a marvelous kissing scene with her hair formally dressed. Is she thinking of a possible wedding day? We believe so.

Andres' Room:   Rafael is not far behind him, calling him “Daniel” again. He pulls him into the room and locks the door, reminding him that at La Malquerida he is “Andres.” Rafael reminds him of his promise not to pursue Camila and accuses him of playing dirty. Andres apologises to him but tells him he couldn't help himself. He started out with a revenge seduction in mind and fell profoundly in love with Camila. He would understand if Rafael then decided not to help him anymore because he can't renounce Camila.

The Next Day bulls are grazing.  [¡Salud!]

Outside the Hacienda:  Hissadora – wearing the skin of the zebra she must have eaten the day before – exits the hacienda with her suitcase despite Alonssso's and Augustina's protests, saying she is going back to her house. She and Komodo Jr play-act for the gullible Augustina, with Hissadora as the repentant suegra who doesn't want to be a hindrance [estorbo] to the recovery of her son's reputation and his marriage. It's better she go back to her place despite the need for repairs. Augustina starts to talk her out of it when Natalia appears calling Alonssso's name. She tells him Hissadora it's one of her neighbors calling that her house was on fire last night. Alonssso says “It can't be, it can't be” before going into the house. Hissadora feigns panic, disbelief, and Augustina stares in shock.

El Diablo's Lair:    Julian reports the details of last night's encounter to the Lord of Darkness who – predictably – is not pleased, especially when he tells him that “Daniel” is not at the writer's home. This means they have lost Daniel's trail. He asks whether he should find a way to tap the telephones, but El Diablo rejects this. Communication is more likely to be via e-mail because of Daniel's computer expertise. He gives him exactly two days and no more to take care of this situation. Julian promises to send Daniel to “another world” by the deadline.

Study:  Alonssso talks to the neighbor on the phone in front of Hissadora, Augustina, and Natalia. When he ends the call he tells them that the neighbor reported the fire and it's being investigated. Hissadora imitates another reptile and cries. The house was all she had. Alonssso makes a show of comforting her “in spite of my loss of prestige, since Camila fired me.” This works exactly as planned with Augustina promising to work out a way they can stay. Natalia observes this carefully as Hissadora tells the gullible one she has a heart of gold.

Cabaña:   From the bedroom Camila speaks on the phone either to a private investigator or to Becerra (we don't hear a name) about the situation, finishing with a request to investigate the man who was following them the previous evening. She describes him down to the scorpion [alacrán] tattoo on his neck. She ends the call and goes into the public room where Luzma enters with her breakfast.

Camila:    Chula, how are you?
Luzma:    Well.
Camila:    But why are you bringing me breakfast? Don't you have to be in school?
Luzma:    Yes, but I decided not to go. (guitar music begins)
Camila:    Huh?
Luzma:    It's unimportant whether I study or not. I will never be more than a servant.
Camila:    I don't understand why you are saying these things. No, Señorita. I don't understand you, Luzma. How is it that from the night to the morning you changed this much? You're sorry about Pablo, this morning you should be prepared to study, to be somebody in life. What happened? (Music gets darker as Leoncio is lurking outside the open door. Luzma sees him.) Chula...
Luzma (turning her face away):    Nothing, no. Nothing happened. (Music is now being punctuated with percussion)
Camila:    It's OK if you don't want to tell me these things, Luz Maria, but you'll have to talk to somebody because these things are hurting you. I advise you to see a psychiatrist, someone you can talk to, who can help you. You need help. Yes.
Luzma:    No, no, I don't need anybody. Excuse me but I have a lot of things to do. (runs out past Leoncio, who casually enters.)
Leoncio:    May I enter?
Camila:    Yes, come in.
Leoncio: I came because I heard that the boss is no longer the boss.
Camila:    Uh hm.
Leoncio:   How?
Camila:    Because Alonso has no authority to run the ranch. From here on I am in charge and Señor Albarrán will be assisting me.

Leoncio's verbal reaction is unintelligible, but he looks both confused and disappointed.

Hostal de Amanda:  Padre Anselmo is present for breakfast, compliments Amanda on the food, and asks her to join him. When she sits down he asks her about Luz Maria. She explains that the whole thing about Luz Maria and Pablo was a big surprise to everyone; she was surprised when her own daughter explained it to her. She explains she doesn't know her mother well; Piedad almost never leaves La Malquerida and her brother Leoncio is the foreman there.

Shooting Range:  Andres does target practice, apparently progressing well according to his instructor. El Diablo watches him, pleased. He tells him that now more than ever he needs to know how to use the weapon, as the man he had previously spoken of is in town. He now wants to know about all the conversations between Camila and the photographer and writer. Andres cautiously tells him “no problem.” El Diablo says that she is sure that Camila has allied herself with them and that she is in danger because they are DDA's accomplices. Furthermore, he wants him to come to his place tonight to introduce him to his “hombre de confinanza”, Julian, so that together they can eliminate the Chilean. Andres fires several good shots into the target, earning El Diablo's compliments. James Bond would be proud of both his aim and his ability to retain his composure.

Courtyard:   Despite the daylight the music becomes Hitchcockianly creepy as Luzma is pursued by Leoncio, who whistles after her as though she were a dog. She stops in fear but backs up with her eyes on him.

Leoncio: Luzmadita, you thought you were going to spill the beans to la niña Camila? [I really hate how  dismissive that sounds even out of others' mouths.]
Luzma:    Well, I should.
Leoncio:    You do that and it will make your life hell. You've got it good and that would destroy you.
Luzma:    The only destruction to my life was you!
Leoncio (grabbing her throat with both hands):     You're not going to talk trash about me.
Luzma (struggling, raising her voice):     Leave me alone and don't touch me like that!
Leoncio (cold and evil):    Shut up. Stop that. Because I want things to go on as before. I spoke to your mother. I will continue taking care of her. I will care for her because I love her.
Luzma:    You don't love anyone, Leoncio!
Leoncio:    Be careful or things will be worse.

She runs away to some dark chords as he stares after her.  Where is Jove' s lightning bolt when it is so desperately needed?

Shooting Range:   El Diablo calls Julian to tell him he is to come to his lair at 9PM so the three of them can talk.

Viviana's Apartment:   She breakfasts with Aaron and Rafael, the latter of whom has just been briefed on the incident with Bruno, hoping he will not return. Viviana tells them that Bruno doesn't understand the word “no” despite Aaron's orders to him the night before. Rafael explains about Daniel's feelings for Camila and that this poses a problem for him. He has never explained his own, Aaron tells him. Viviana is not prepared to predict Camila's reaction if he does. This can only become more awkward.

Cabaña:  Rudolfo helps Natalia bring in transfiles full of documents. He explains that Leoncio stole his paycheck but he's been unable to do anything about it. At her questions he replies that he can't prove it, Leoncio would only deny it, and Alonssso always protected Leoncio. Natalia feels bad that this happened because of her and what a repugnant creep Leoncio is, but Rudolfo doesn't blame her. He agrees with her assessment of Leoncio, but isn't worried; it's only a matter of time. A new administrator won't protect Leoncio. Things will get better. The music bizarrely changes to some happy banda sound as Rudolfo finally asks her on a date for the following Sunday. She tells him she'd like him to meet her mother. [We think this a little premature, but by Telenovela Law these two belong together.] The lyric ends on the phrase “mujer ideal” as Natalia becomes a little flirtatious. Rudolfo is a guapeton, so we heartily approve.

Road:  Andres is driving back while using his bluetooth device to talk to Viviana and Aaron. He is hoping to find out what El Diablo's next move is, but needs to be kept occupied with Camila to avoid a confrontation with Julian. They're all in danger now; Aaron tells him he can't go to that meeting. They now all have to watch their backs.

Hostal Amanda:  Padre Anselmo declines another serving of food, telling Amanda that breakfast was delicious. She is curious about all his questions about Piedad and her family, but he tells her that he always wants to know his parishioners. They part company until the next meal.

Road:    Andres stops as he sees a black automobile and a black-clad hombre who turns and it is... Julian. He is face to face with the man sent to Chile to kill him.

Note: There was a little censorship in tonight's broadcast; you can guess where.

I don't remember whether I brought this up before, but how in hell did Daniel get a driver's license when he's undocumented?

I've enjoyed seeing all your fans and think this one is especially lovely.
La Paloma

Thanks. It was purchased a couple of days ago in a dollar store!

D/andres probably doesn't have a driver's license...Camila/Augustina probably assume he has one.

Ruh roh! How will Dan get out of this fix?

Speaking of Dan, again Rafael with the DANIEL! DANIEL! shouting down the hallway!

Viviana, Natalia, Padre Baldemero, Amanda, & Aaron (who just met Dan 5 minutes ago) all know how dangerous things are and still Rafael is running down the street shouting DANIEL! DANIEL!

The only way for Dan to get out of this scrape is for Julian to do a Thelma & Louise off the nearest cliff.

P.s. I liked Ximena's pink RameraWear.

"...melting his sword." Urban Anthropologist...you ARE the best!!!

I always look forward to your recaps and this was an absolute gem!! Really enjoy your writing style. Thank you so much.

I really like your choice of fan. All of them have been beautiful, but I really like this one!

OMG ~ How NAIVE & MISGUIDED can Augustina be????
This woman is so desperate far any man Dionisio had her wrapped around his pinky TOE just waiting for the right time to Kick her to the Curb!!!
Wow!

Thanks, UA, for the great recap. I'm still traveling and not able to watch the episodios, but thanks to you I feel I've seen tonight's. In addition to being very informative, it also was delightfully snarky. I especially liked "To the sounds of “Te Odio” they proceed to the komodo mating rituals," "Hissadora – wearing the skin of the zebra she must have eaten the day before," and "Where is Jove's lightning bolt when it is so desperately needed?"

Thanks too for the very useful vocab.

Great recap, Urban. Honestly, sometimes you surpass yourself. Thank you for a VERY thorough and perceptive essay.

Oh, do I share Juanita's sentiments (and yours) regarding Leoncio. He really NEEDS a lightning strike by Jove, or a shot from Dante's centaur in Phlegethon. I feel anxiety every time I see that character on the screen. The actor must get a great deal of hate mail, as he is so good at portraying a beast.

I am enchanted by this show. You recappers are all doing a stellar job with coverage. Also, as many others have mentioned, I love seeing a team of good guys fighting for right and might throughout the show, not just at the very end. It is a much more suspenseful plot device.

Finally, I must gush again about the amazing chemistry between D'Andres and Camila. Guau. Hot, hot, hot, just proving that anticipation is very sexy.

EJ

What an excellent recap, UA.
The censored shoes, the snakeskin dress, the zebra dress, I couldn't stop laughing.
Yes, and the reference to Camila -"When the time comes Camila should clear this room out, have it fumigated, exorcised, and buy all new furniture and bedding", is on the money!!!
I don't think that Gussie can get anymore stupid.-Geez
Reading your writing is music to my ears.

Let's examine Gussie:

She is dowdy, plain & silly. I think she was part of a upper level class and never encouraged to expand her mind or do anything other than marry well. She sees Alonso treating her daughter like crap and encourages her to stay, because he has a good job. She tells Camila she couldn't possibly run the ranch, let a man do it. That's what's she was probably taught.

Ximena has gone in the opposite direction by vowing not to be under the control of some man, to leave him before he leaves her, and to be a ramera in opposition to her dowdy mother.

Augustina is a silly, stupid woman but I feel sorry for her because she's not a bad person, but silly and bad guys have always taken advantage of her silliness.

Urban- Superb detailed recap.

Oh man! Camila sure is gutsy. The way she confronted scorpion guy is the same way Miriam did. I'm sure both Vivi and Rafa were thinking about what happened to Miriam when Cami confronted him. I’m sure Dan will freak out when they tell him that Cami went after Scorpion Dude. But they didn’t tell him. I guess Rafa got thrown off track after catching Dan in mid-seduction of Camila.

When Dan called Vivi he wanted her to come up with something that would make Cami occupy HIS time that evening, so that he would have an excuse for backing out of meeting with Dio and Scorpion Man. Since we know Cami still doesn’t like driving at night, Vivi will likely find a way to convince Cami to come out with her that evening or to come see her. (Aaron is going to have to hide from now on when Cami visits Vivi.)

Speaking of Aaron, loved it when he told Bruno off and said Vivi is HIS woman. Bruno is going to be scratching his head about that one for a while. But the fact that he’s watching the house probably means he will learn to much about the movements of the good guys, and be in a position to bargain for info with the bad guys, once he runs into them.

Finally, great cliff hanger. Dan has to outrun Scorpion Man, and if he does that, avoid meeting up with him with Dio.

The novela was really good last night but the scene that really put a smile on my face was the one with Natalia & Rodolfo.

Vivi, I also thought about Miriam during that confrontation. I was wondering who would be the first to point that out. Daniel will freak when he hears about this but of course, Camila didn't know that this was Miriam's killer.

She will certainly freak when she finds out that Andres is Daniel.

UA--I just had to go straight to the cabana part and will read the rest later. Ummmm. I liked the part where he presents the flower to her, coming up close and says, this smells good. She looks at him--not quite ready to fall into his arms and says--this one doesn't have a smell and he answers, but you do.

BTW Dejese llevar (I think you heard Dejese de llorar) is a standard tn opening for making love. It means let yourself get carried away. Other than that--Everything was just perfect. Darn that Rafael who interrupted what could have been another beso like the beso in the storm. I almost didn't recognize Camila in her formal hairdo. What were they thinking....

Ok, back to enjoying the recap. You have quite a "fan" base here on Caray.
Anita

Done--masterful job. Please keep up with your reptilian references, they are a hoot--down to the zebra Hissidora must have eaten the night before (Leticia's getting a little broad in the behind).

And yes, Camila was on the phone with her investigator. She hired him to find Daniel--instead of letting El Lord of the Oscuridad hire one (I forgot why she didn't want his--maybe she was already mistrusting him). Now that Daniel has appeared and she's in communication with him, she doesn't need him for that, so she wants him to find out who the guy who was following them is. She gave him a good description, but I gather the investigator didn't think it was much to go on.

UA thanks for your recap. Have you studied music? To me your grasp of detail reflects an experienced musical person. Also as Anon 12:09am said, I like all your fans but this one is particularly beautiful.

Yes Rafeal needs to be slapped w/DANIEL, DANIEL.

And I'm invoking Anita's slogan until tio odio dies - Tio must Die!

Anon207 ITA w/your assessment of Auggie. She is a silly woman desperate for the love of a man. Unfortunately she is too silly to discern a good man (Lic B.) and a bad one (her current novio).

Vivi - yes it does look like there will be some type of car duel. These are guesses - Either Dan gets hurt (coma) or Julian is no more. I want option #2.

Anita, I missed some of the dialogue between Camila and Daniel over the flower because sometimes Silvia Navarro doesn't speak clearly and when that is compounded by words I'm not familiar with it could mean adding another hour to this process.

As to Camila, I think she is inclined to do things her own way, especially if she thinks that the older people in her life want to take over. She is her own mistress and the captain of her own ship.

I don't think that Augustina intentionally wants to undermine her confidence; she isn't toxic that way. But she is hopelessly out of date in her viewpoint on marital and other similar relationships. She obviously wasn't happy in her second marriage but fails to see that Camila needs to be rid of Komodo Jr.

Thanks for a stellar recap. So many favorite lines, so little space! :-) Several of my favorites have already been mentioned but here's 2 more:
1) The Hitchcock chase music begins in the violin section as Augustina begins to panic. (I share your love of music).
2) Her amusement implies an expertise with this situation that he does not possess. (excellent poetic description.

Needless to say, because I am so "Spanish language challenged", the input from other commenters is muy appreciated and helpful.

Karen, I played flute in my high school orchestra and had a couple of music appreciation courses in college, but nothing more advanced than that. I am a season ticket holder at the Metropolitan Opera and also attend NY Philharmonic concerts. I was a theatre major in college but have never been able to sing. That hurts.

It's possible that musical ability and foreign language pronunciation capability share a part of the brain because I have a decent musical sense and I can pronounce foreign words very well. Music is something that is so basic to the human condition that it behooves all of us to develop an appreciation of it.

UA - Eloguent yet again! Ditto on that fan being one of the most striking and imagine it from a dollar store!

Quests for lurkers and regulars- does anyone know the spanish terms that Tio Leo Sordido was using when he spoke with Luzma? I get the idea from the UA dialogue, but I noticed he used a lot of slang that I am curious about.

Also, I really like the women's hair stylist's work on this show. Luzma and Irena her friend have the most beautiful work done with their shiny long hair. And, I really liked Camila's hair in her imagination (it did come from left field though!LOL).

With the fellows they seem to be getting better. Maybe they read my comments (sure!) about that little flippy thing in Dandres' hair up front. Seems they are fixing it so it isn't so "flippy". I like Rafa's style alot.

That would be eloquent!!

UA - I would love an enlargement of your fan picture for my living room please. Simply beautiful.

This was a wonderful recap through and through, but if I had to choose my favorite lines I'd go with:
- komodo mating rituals
- Hissadora wearing the skin of a zebra she must have eaten the day before
- Rudolfo is a guapeton, so we heartily approve.

Thanks for the recap. Off to watch the episode now!

Another great recap UA. A girl could get real drunk reading your recaps with all the saluds! I should read these in the evening, then I could play along.

I kept shouting at the screen at the end when Dan was watching Julian to just drive off before he sees him, but he didn't listen to me. I really hope he gets away, and if he doesn't, I hope he kills him.

I also thought that Xmeana looked like a candycane in her dress. It looked so uncomfortable to wear.

I would have liked Ximena's candycane Ramerawear, if she'd paired it with black leggings.

Was the censorship when X had off her candycane dress? Are you saying they showed more in Mexico?

Has Daniel ever verbalized to his amigos about the scorpion tattoo?

Hissadora sure has big lizard eyes. They have a screen-role of their own.

UA--I hope you don't mind if we fill in from time to time. It's just that Dan's first "move" on Camila was a classic line. Yes, Silvia is very hard to understand when she gets into her rat-a-tat-tat mode. And no, we don't want you to add hours to your recapping duties. You do beautifully to give us everything we need to know and this is certainly a complicated telenovela with a lot of characters.

Amor Bravio
UA, you do such a splendid job of recapping and explaining the nuances of the characters and dialog. Thank you so much.
I haven't been able to watch for the last week, but since I saw part of this tn in Mexico and with your recaps (and all the other's this week) I think I am still okay with the plot line.
I so apreciate the analysis of the villians and viboras.
My favorite line was:
"I don't think that Augustina intentionally wants to undermine her confidence; she isn't toxic that way. But she is hopelessly out of date in her viewpoint on marital and other similar relationships. She obviously wasn't happy in her second marriage but fails to see that Camila needs to be rid of Komodo Jr". It goes to the "generation gap" which is very evident in the modern telenovela. The way it was vs the way it is. I think Auggie is just old fashioned and behind the times.
There is an ongoing attempt to inject some modern thought into the plot lines of the newer telenovelas. Certainly SN has perpetuated this in Cuando and now Amor with her strong female characters.
I think that Aaron and Rafael and D'Andres are playing a very dangerous game right now. Hopefully it won't last too long.
Glad to be home again and catching up. I like this TN. Is is fast moving, complex and engaging.

Thanks, UA. Well done and so many phrases and situations well put. Musical and other talents aside, you are a very good writer. And, the fan ... a dollar store? Nice.

I'm late to the gate these days, catching the half I fall asleep for the next evening. I force myself to stay up and no matter how interesting, I pass out. This nasty business of going to work for 8 hours every day gets in the way of my televiewing.

So many good things have been said. I'll add that it was an exciting episode. And so much in play for this evening.
