El Mundo de Telemundo - Week of 10/15/12: Discuss Amongst Yourselves

Here's your page for the coming week.  The Telemundo evening shows were preempted tonight (Friday, 10/12) so there won't be any mini-recaps for Corazón Valiente or Pablo Escobar until Monday night or Tuesday morning.  This is a good opportunity to chime in on some of the other shows that no one is recapping regularly but many people are still watching.

Have a great week, everyone!

Corazon Valiente –

thanks so much novelera and Jean !!!
you are the best!

I truly appreciate the effort that it takes to do these recaps,
and CV is way beyond that,

Jean, wow, the pics of Ushuaia were... wow,
you stood there and took these?

Rosa Diamante -

the wedding that wasn't,

Rosa Diamante took a turn last week as it moved into a "new stage". They seemed to have upped the action, the violence, and the pace, as well as the big reveal of Rosa pretending to be Eva, which has so far been the main premise of the show.

Rosa is now in jail, with no legal right to eduardito, no money, no place to live, and one friend, Andrea. What wasn't revealed is that JI is the father of eduardito, and only a few people know this, although some know that it is not Rosa's baby. So where will the story go now?

Thanks Jean, Novelera, and Hombre
for all of your detailed recaps.
It was so good to hear from you Vivi, I thought you were too busy to watch on account of your Monday nite dedication to Refugio. I agree with everything you said, but like Hombre,
I will stick with it to the end.
Totally boring are the constant kissing scenes between FF & Mig, and all of the transgressions by JM that you enumerated are spot on. The man has no backbone. He turned into a petty-minded egotistical creep with no common sense or brains.

The highlight for me has always been the scenes between Sammy and
Willy; however his role has been pathetically reduced to one of patting and kissing Sammy's tummy.
I would think this would be frustrating for an actor, but I suppose they are all making good money - perhaps more because this is going on so long. I have no idea how this works.

I agree also, Vivi, that it would be nice to have la chica de la selva do something else before having a baby. Since so many young people are supposedly watching, it would be good to emphasize the importance of finishing high school and then going on for advanced studies.
As is, FF is nothing more than a dropout, but I suppose she will end up; with a fortune one way or another.

The other day I happened on the novela, "Donde está Elisa?," and there was Gabriel Porras. Have any of you watched this rerun?
It is apparently based on two real life kidnappings; writers have combined things and made modifications. (See Google if interested.) I decided to record it. I prefer novelas that have some semblance of reality. It is showing at 11 am.

Re an upcoming novela, is anyone planning to watch Amores verdaderos? After watching La Verdad Occulta and Destilando Amor, I am now a fan of
E.Y. and looking forward to it - also with S. Rulli.

Thanks once again to all terrific recappers and commenters. Watching and commenting takes up way too much of my time, but I do enjoy it and have learned a lot of Spanish as well.

ROSA DIAMANTE

Thanks Deb... lovely pictures.

I am happy about the pacing of this remake, and eagerly anticipating the next development. It doesn't seem like it's gonna be 200+ capitulos like the other 2 originals... por Dios I hope not. I tried to sneak a peak from the old ones, and got bored with the runaround. so I never found out what next.

Pobre Rosa.

Deb & Shallowgal,
Lunes should be an interesting episode. I wonder the true intention of Gabriel's offer to defend Rosa. Surely it for his own benefit. Rosura is drugged up right now thanks to Margaret. Until she detoxes from the drugs, she won't be able to help Rosa, who I believe she has grown to respect and admire. Then there is the puzzle of Raquel's relationship with Rosa/Rosura that needs to be unwound.
Geraldo's uber control of Lucia has anvils hanging all over it.

Thanks for keeping up w/Rosa Diamante.

PABLO ESCOBAR

Hombre, thanks so much. You are amazing in how you get these characters names [not to mention their motivations] straight. As usual, I can't seem to catch up until the weekend. Thanks so much for your recaps.

What's up with Peraza? Earlier on I thought they were setting him up to be the incorruptible guy the government was relying on to bring down Escobar. That conversation with Ana María was highly suspicious.

And they seem to be pointing toward Tomás as the very corruptible head of Luis Carlos' bodyguard team. If this really happened, I am flat out amazed that a man who is likely to be the next president of Colombia can't get his bodyguard detail changed.

NovelaMaven, I'm with you on Chili. Except being blown up by his own bomb would be too easy a death for him. I'd like him incarcerated in the worst prison in Colombia and beaten to a pulp on a regular basis by the other inmates.

I took Killing Pablo by Mark Bowden out of the library and am just now reading about Escobar's early life and rise to power. It's a very interesting book, and the novela is pretty true to his early life. The author aptly describes him as a megalomaniac.

EL ROSTRO DE LA VENGANZA

I'm enjoying reading the comments about this novela.

I'd say I'd put it in third place, and barely, of the evening Telemundo lineup. I keep saying I'll stop watching and don't.

One thing: Saúl Lisazo reminds me of the older Cary Grant.

I hate the musical theme.

I can't put my finger on why the classic telenovela rich people in Corazón Valiente don't annoy me, while those in ERDV do.

Maybe it's supposed to add something to the plot, but that mother of Ezekiel drives me nuts the way she slithers around the house listening in on conversations and refusing to acknowledge that her son and grandson are rotten guys.

And, if Luciano really IS the niño monstruo, I wish they'd just come out with it. This is a mystery that annoys me instead of intriguing me.

I'm pretty sure I agree with NovelaMaven's theory that DiegoMart is Ezekiel's son. But the incest taboo means they have to really twist things up to make Luciano and Diana not half siblings.

EL ROSTRO DE LA VENGANZA

Hi Novelera! I know what you mean about Ezequiel's mother. I suspect she could give Enelia Gaviria a run for her money in the wicked old lady department.

I can't take credit for the theory that Diego is really Zeke's son. It was Shallowgal who was clever enough to come up with it based on the mysterious relationship between Diego's mother and Ezequiel. Of course it would also explain the rift between Juan Mercader and his wife as well as Juan's abusive treatment of Diego.

I did, however, speculate that Luciano might also be the product of some extramarital whoopy now that we know about Laura's affair with the chemistry teacher.

I have the feeling that we're supposed to suspect Luciano just as Ezequiel probably did 20 years ago; but the reveal will be that someone who appears completely innocent, like maybe Alex Maldonado or his dentist wife is the culprit. The wife in particular has got to be a cauldron of resentment. (The whole "pimple face" is hilarious and horrible at the same time. And now Alex finds a "cure" for his impotence with one of the meanest of the original mean girls!)

I can see the Cary Grant thing. Saúl Lisazo is one of those lucky guys who just keeps getting more attractive as he gets older.

I wonder what they'll do about the Mariana character -- kill her off or just replace her with another actress.

EL ROSTRO DE LA VENGANZA

novelera - re the classic rich in CV vs ERDLV.... imho, it's cuz in CV, they're the protagonistas (likeable, humble except for D8D), and it's the opposite in ERDLV (calculating/evil).

Donde está Elisa?

Floridia - loved DDE. really prefer Porras clean cut. Pila and Sonya Smith were electric.

Rosa Diamante -

thanks for your comments Shallowgal and SFChicaBonita !!!

yeah, Gabriel / Andrea are an interesting noncouple. It's almost comical the way he grabs her every chance he gets and she fights him off, not so funny in real life though. (but the actors do that so well)

and Gabriel has almost looked like a nice guy a time or two,

didn't the story start with him helping Rodolfo sell the companies designs to Acua,
and they split the money,
then it's been like that didn't happen,

and then Gabriel was working with Sergio,
in making Andrea sell her apartment so JI could but it,

and it's like his whole angle is to use Andrea's unknown inheritance to eventually squeeze into the Sotomayor fortune,

interesting how he cast the winning vote to make Rosa president.

If I have him figured right, he sizes things up, then goes with the winning side,

but now wanting to be Rosa's lawyer, hmmm, maybe if Rosa stays caught up in this, maybe she won't be able to press for resolving Andrea's problems, and he will keep his hold on her, but then again maybe he wants a shot at being a nice guy, Rosa has that affect on people.

Happy Birthday José !!!

ROSA DIAMANTE

Gabriel's character IS questionable. he's got those shifty eyes. when he presented himself as Rosa's lawyer, I said to myself "oh no! what's he up to?"

Novelera,

Glad you can find time to read Killing Pablo; I know I'll never get around to it.

Shallowgal,

Thanks for replying to my question re Dónde está Elisa? I've only seen one episode; will start watching in earnest tonight.

PABLO ESCOBAR:

Novelera, I agree, Peraza is a big disappointment (or maybe worse, maybe he's corrupt). Since we're only in 1989 and I think it all ended in 1995, we have a ways to go. At this point, the only heroes are Oswaldo Quintana, Luis Carlos Galan, Alberto Villamizar and Ernesto Quintana. I don't hold out much hope for the first three. Oh course we do have the Cano's, led by Ana Maria, and then Niki, so I guess there are a bunch of heroes. But Peraza doesn't seem to be one of them.

Monday night football tonight, so the recap will be delayed.

PABLO ESCOBAR

Hombre, Killing Pablo has a prologue. Since the very first episode of the telenovela stated the date, this is not a spoiler. Escobar was killed on December 2, 1993.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 1

Willy stares at Thelma’s body while, of course, a witness maid looks through the open door.

Miggy and Fabiola disagree about getting married immediately. She tells the priest they’ve been through hell, and now this man isn’t in a hurry? They settle on tomorrow.

El Verdugo brags some to the Reptile. He was able to be better than his father, he was never in prison, and he escaped death, Interpol, the DEA. Why can’t he get Fabiola? The Reptile says: "What if what happened to me happens to you – that Fabiola will never love you?”. He says this won’t happen. She’s going to love him more than Valdez. Then he says the Reptile is boring him [more likely hitting him where it hurts most] and stalks out.

Gus tries to talk JM out of going to Argentina. He says that Fernanda is protected by El Verdugo, and it’s too much of a risk. Both Ángela and Laura have offered to go along, but JM insists on going alone. Gus says he’ll try to get some help from the police there, but he’s afraid they’re all bought and paid for.

We see D8D sneaking out of the hotel, while Willy is frantically bringing security to the room where Thelma has died.

Sam tells Nora that their daughter was born. Clara arrives with Luz and puts her in Sam’s arms. Sam tells her that there was an insemination, and that she has a daughter like this one.

EV is looking at various places in Argentina on his computer. Jessica shows up, asking if he’s planning a trip. He tells her something in Argentina belongs to him. He gets a call and smiles broadly, saying no one messes with the daughter of El Verdugo.

We see a flashback of D8D trying to get Camilo to kill Thelma. Camilo handles it really well. He tells him he’s not a cheap hit man any more. He flat out refuses to do it. Later Camilo and Rod go toe to toe. Nasty little Rod says Camilo has a thing for his uncle’s wife.

Willy calls JM for legal help. He’s trying to convince Dummy Duval that he wouldn’t have killed Thelma. He came there to find out the name of the woman who has his daughter. He insists the cops try to find the information. Dummy Duval, of course, says he’s the only suspect.

Miggy and FF return to their cabana loaded with packages and, finally, wearing warm coats. He hints they may run out of money soon. She reminds him she’s a millionaire. FF starts to feel a bit faint, and tells him she saw a telenovela where someone who felt faint was pregnant. Miggy says their lives are not a telenovela [Hah!], but you can buy tests for this.

Clara is about ready to tell Sam, starting to say she’s not a bad person when D8D, who is beginning to remind me of the toy my little brother had, shows up. This is the one where when Pop Goes the Weasel plays, the clown pops up. He gives Clara a threatening look and takes the baby. He says he came to their house to get Willy to sign some papers. Riiight.

Willy calls Sam and tells her about Thelma. Sam has a bad moment. Nico, Clara and Nora are concerned for her. She tells D8D that Thelma knew the name of the woman who gave birth to her daughter. Yes, Lorena did inseminate someone.

The Reptile tells Rosario that her Ofelia was capable of everything for her, including murder. Rosario replies she’d be capable of anything for EV. The Reptile tells her she was snooping through Rosario’s room and found a photo of her with EV’s father. She suspects Rosario is his mother.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – LUNES – Part 2

Miggy brings back a pregnancy test, and FF thinks you ask it if you’re pregnant! When she reads the instructions, she tells him she has to do the test in the bathroom.

EV tells the Reptile that JM has reserved a room in town. She’s all excited immediately. EV says that, if it were he, he’d be coming to kill her. The Reptile tells him JM is not a killer.

Ángela has come to care for Gus. When he looks all happy about her being there, she tells him that she’s in love with JM. He tells her he now understands why she didn’t want to have his children. It’s because she didn’t love him.

JM notices that Laura is very concerned about Sam and Willy’s missing baby. She tells him that she might appear hard, but she has feelings.

Clara tells D8D she can’t take it any more. He again tells her they’d never get to see the baby any more. And that Sam and Willy would press charges. He tells her they have to trust that Sam and Willy will never find out the truth.

FF is not pregnant. Miggy suggests they get married first, and then the next time the test will be different.

Clara gets a call that her father has taken a turn for the worse in the hospital. She says it’s her punishment.

We get a flashback of what happened to Thelma. D8D shows up in Thelma’s room. He passes a phone to her and EV sarcastically thanks her for being such a great mother to his daughter. Then he brings up sending Jessica back to her room when she had nightmares. D8D shoots her with a gun with a silencer. He appears to enjoy this.

Miggy and FF are playing pool in the local bar when some thugs appear.

Clara calls Sam from the hospital saying that her father is dying. She has to tell Sam something important and in person.

JM tells Génesis that he’s leaving her with Ángela and tells her to be a good girl. He seems to be saying things as if he may not return.

Someone called El Canario calls the house and leaves a message with Rosario for EV: Ushuaia.

Ángela doesn’t want JM to go. He tells her that what they lived together is beautiful, intense, and painful. But he’s thankful that he met her. Passionate kisses.

Laura has come to care for Gus because Ángela is with the kids. She tells him, however, that she’s going to Colombia. She’s the only one who can save JM’s life.

We get another creepy monologue from the Reptile. She says she doesn’t want to shoot JM and she doesn’t want to stab him either. She only wants his love. Is he capable of giving it to her? Because, if not …. (rubbing the dull end of the knife on her throat).

Clara tells Sam that God is punishing her. Then she finally spits it out: “Bernardita es tu hija.”

Miggy is at the church waiting for FF. She’s back at the cabana, and EV calls her. He says he’s heard she’s getting married. This made him want to kill Miguel Valdez. She asks him what he wants. He says 1. that you don’t get married. 2. that you separate from Valdez. and 3. that you’re mine and no one else's.

Dear deb
about the Facebook fan page of Miguel y Fabiola , I suggest this one(me and 2 friends are the page owners of it):

CORAZON VALIENTE-

Thanks for the great recap, Novelera and go Giants!

I think it was D8D who was peeking in the door when Willy went into Thelma's room. That was how I knew that it wasn't Camilo who shot her. Why did Willy had to leave the room to get hotel security and the police, which allowed D8D to escape instead of just calling from the room?

Not that there is any reality in a novela but according to Wikipedia, Ushuaia is the 97th most populous city in Argentina with a population of 64,000. Unless, EV's guys bribed the airline people, which is possible, how could EV's guys have found Miggy and FF so fast? If they really wanted to hide, they should have gone back to Buenos Aires. In Buenos Aires province, there are 8 cities with populations in excess of 200,000 people, not to mention BA itself with a population of more than 3 million. You could disappear in greater BA for a long time but of course, that wouldn't advance the plot.

Corazon Valiente -

thanks so much novelera !!!

your recaps are so good there is always a handful of things that you cover that I didn't really get when I watched the show,

I guess D8D is into looking the part when he kills someone,
Fernanda was right, I think he discovered he does like killing.
It looked like the blood splatter to his face was a new thrill for him.

wow, I can't believe Clara actually spit it out!

It drives me nuts when Sammi sneaks off on her own,
and it drives me nuts that it drives Willy nuts,
that makes her do it in the first place.

Miguel delaying the wedding,
and Fabiola lingering back at the house,
oooo, this just can't be good.

Pretty dress though, it fits her style!

CORAZON VALIENTE-

I forgot to mention that for whatever reason, I found FF to be a lot less irritating than before. I thought the scene with the pregnancy test was cute.

Corazon Valiente -

thanks Pari Panahi !!!

were you posting as Parisa over at TW,
I loved those posts, and was looking for that fan site,
but found these other two instead.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks for the correction, Jean. I definitely need a better TV. I saw a head at the door watching Willy looking at Thelma's body, and assumed it was a maid who would later get Willy in hot water.

The fact that it was D8D maybe makes him D9D. He kills Thelma and scoots out of there knowing that his son may take the rap for him? Priceless.

I was stunned that Clara finally told Sammy about the baby. I expected another pop-up D8D to somehow bollix up the works.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks for the recap, Novelera.

I wonder if Jessica ever thinks about why her Daddy's name is The Executioner (El Verdugo). Hmmmm.

So now, he forbids FF from marrying Miggy just at the last moment. And of course she'll go along with it, to "protect" Miggy. Probably won't even tell him why.

Laura is going to Colombia to protect JM. I think she very well might save his life. She and Gus are very helpful to the main characters. Too bad for them they can't win them, no matter what they do.

Of course, the revelation by Clara to Sam was huge, but of course more problems are coming (I hope the previews are wrong).

Should be a powerful episode tonight.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Lunes Part 1

Wussy General Ulloa still won't take the threat to Quintana seriously, even though Escobar obviously killed that other politician by mistake, and Quintana is next on the list. Ulloa needs “time” to figure out what to do. Meanwhile, the best he can tell Quintana is to be careful. Thanks a lot. Quintana, his wife and son discuss Ulloa's zero help, while riding in their police escort.

At night, Galán and his wife Gloria are also being escorted, apparently out of the city. Tomás is driving, the other long time guard, Sebastián, is also in the front seat. Gloria knows the attempt by the cartel was on Quintana. Imagine what he and his family must be feeling, she says. Gloria also thinks maybe Quintana should get out of Medellin, it's just too hot. But he can't, that's where the cartel is, and he's in charge of stopping them. Tomás makes some remark that continues to make us trust him less.

The sicarios are playing around, trying to blow up a toy policeman on a toy moto, and Topo can't seem to find the right button sequence on the remote. The others make fun of him, and he stalks out.

Ana Maria gives a speech to the newspaper workers. I understand your fears. If any of you wants to resign and not work here because you or your families fear for your safety, it's okay. You can resign.

The Quintana family continues to be disturbed by the government's seeming lack of concern for their safety. Ernesto almost wants to quit the force. Oswaldo says don't even think about it. We're going to keep doing our jobs.

The Galáns have a new apartment, outside of Medellin. The 3 sons argue a bit about who gets which room. The youngest son is upset that they're going to be here, but Luis comforts him and hugs his wife. He does have an office here, too. The phone rings. It's the high priced killer, who doesn't identify himself, congratulates Galán on his new apartment, and says this won't change a thing. Either you drop out of the race, or else.

As Pablo smokes a joint, Chili assures him that he'll get Quintana, even though Pablo says now that he knows what's happening, he'll probably have 500 guards.

But in reality, Quintana says he WON'T have 500 guards. He won't have any. He knows that Escobar is looking for the big convoy, the tons of guards. Quintana doesn't want to be an obvious target. He's going to act like an unassuming citizen, far under the radar. His wife Ana is worried, but Ernesto thinks it's a good idea. Oswaldo takes Ana's rosary, kisses it. You know what? he says. Our new strategy, combined with La Virgencita, will protect us.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Part 2

It's a nice evening at Nápoles. Pablo has brought his aging father here. His Mom is happy another family member (maybe a sister of Pablo) is here to keep the Dad company. Enelia tells Pablo that it's fairly certain Galán will be the next President. Santorini is a loser. And the people love Galán. So you need to talk to him in advance, negotiate with him, so things will work out if he's elected, and you won't be immediately extradited. Don't worry, Ma, says Pablo, I'm working on this problem.

Ulloa tells Luis and Gloria his next idea is to bug their phones. Luis says he doesn't need it, but speaking of security, do you know this guy Tomás? Ulloa says, no he's not from my unit, don't know anything about him. Speak of the devil, Tomás enters, he's talked with all the neighbors in this new apartment area of Luis and family, and there's nothing to worry about. He seems to listen intently as the General describes the 4 police units coming to patrol the area.

Pablo is anxious for the hit. The killer tells him not to worry, we've got them totally infiltrated, the head guard is my guy(!!!). We just have to wait for a public speech, Galán will be out in the open, and we'll take him down. Mariachi says just be patient.

In a drug factory in Antóquia, Fabio is making sure all the workers (bandanas over their mouths to keep from sneezing onto the coke, I guess) are doing the right thing. It's a raid! Fabio grabs some maps and other papers, rushes to the back of the building. It's Quintana, not afraid at all. He tells his men to surround the building. I think Fabio may have escaped, but we'll see. One thing is for sure – Quintana isn't backing down. Pablo won't be happy!!

PABLO ESCOBAR

Thanks, Hombre, that was an exciting episode! I was looking forward to your recap.

I hope Ulloa gets busted back to private for his lackadaisical attitude about someone else's safety. Wonder how he'd feel if HE were in Medellín and receiving death threats?

Yep, Tomás is a rat. They pretty much telegraphed that the guy was shady. I still can't believe Pereza wouldn't listen to Galán and his wife's distrust of the guy.

Do you think Enelia was really asking Pablo to negotiate with Galán or letting him know, as if he didn't already know, that Galán was a big danger and he needed to be taken out?

I hope Quintana survives.

"Killing Pablo" is a riveting read.

PABLO ESCOBAR:

Novelera, I do think Enelia was at least hinting at Pablo to take out Galán. Not sure if she said it outright.

By the way, it occurred that me that maybe, just maybe, Tomás is actually loyal, and Sebastián is the "head guard" who's on the payroll of the bad guys. Either way, we should find out soon, and it may not be pretty.

Thanks for reminding me that they showed the date of Pablo's death in December, 1993. At least we know that SOMEHOW he'll stop running roughshod over the whole country!

Pablo Escobar -

thanks once again Hombre !!!

hmm , cocaine, I don't really know much about it so I took a quick spin around the internet, and some interesting things I learned,

"Andean and Amazonian Indians have been chewing coca leaves for thousands of years to help them endure the effects of extreme altitude and cold and to help give them endurance while working in the mines, where the conditions can be quite harsh. It is only when truckloads of coca leaves are synthesized into an amount of white powder that would fit into a measuring cup that the effects of the coca leaf become lethal. Imagine if one were to take an entire truckload of coffee and synthesize all the caffeine contained in the coffee into an amount of white powder that would fit into a measuring cup. Wouldn't that amount of caffeine be lethal too?! The coca leaf, however, in and of itself, is not dangerous, and has been an integral part of South American Indian culture for a very long time."
from: http://staff.esuhsd.org/balochie/studentprojects/drugsindicates/index.html

so step 2 is to take the leaves and make the paste,

"Roughly 625 pounds of leaves were harvested per hectare, six times per year. The leaves were dried for half a day, then chopped into small pieces with a strimmer (weedwacker) and sprinkled with a small amount of powdered cement (replacing sodium carbonate from former times). Several hundred pounds of this mixture was soaked in 50 US gallons (190 L) of gasoline for a day, then the gasoline was removed and the leaves were pressed for remaining liquid, after which they could be discarded. Then battery acid (weak sulfuric acid) was used, one bucket per 25 kilograms of leaves, to create a phase separation in which the cocaine free base in the gasoline was acidified and extracted into a few buckets of "murky-looking smelly liquid". Once powdered caustic soda was added to this, the cocaine precipitated and could be removed by filtration through a cloth. The resulting material, when dried, was termed pasta and sold by the farmer. The 3750 pound yearly harvest of leaves from a hectare produced 2.5 kg (6 lb) of pasta, approximately 40–60% cocaine."
from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocaine

so if I got our story right, Pablo would buy this paste, smuggle it into Colombia and then refine it even more into the product that became popular in the U.S.

so I'm thinking they wear the dust masks as a health issue,
of course breathing the cocaine itself all day long might not be a good idea either.

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks so much Novelera. I missed last night's episode, but luckily got to see Clara continue her confession tonight. FINALLY!!

PABLO ESCOBAR, Martes, Part 1

Nothing really happened, except the tension kept rising. Here’s how.

Ana Maria Cano has a staff meeting to announce the raid on Fabio’s place. No one was caught, but they got all sorts of drugs and equipment, and it was a blow to the cartel. Niki tells her that in response to her offer of letting any journalists who feared for their families to resign, NONE have resigned.

Pablo is quite angry at Quintana for ruining his drug lab. He tells the guys, ALL of you are now assigned to killed Oswaldo Quintana. At the Police Academy, Ernesto Quintana, whose rank is “alférez”, or second lieutenant, asks his superior officer for help in getting his father transferred. The superior can’t do anything. He tells Ernesto it pretty much boils down to Oswaldo has to kill or stop Escobar, or else Escobar will kill him.

Luis’s back hurts. He doesn’t mind, it’s a small price to pay for all his campaigning. The three boys are sad they’re stuck in this unfamiliar house. Niki interviews the family, and the boys say some of the best moments of their lives have been when they were on the campaign trail with Dad (we see actual footage).

Santorini is angry and morose, but thinks back on his talk with Pablo, that Galán had to be killed. (We never saw this talk, but it was implied).

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

Pablo and crew have found out that Luis Galán is coming to Medellin, and is giving a big speech/demonstration, and also speaking at a conference in University of Antióqua. Some of the guys think they should hit him at the speech, but Marino says there would be too many people. I think he says they can infiltrate the conference, and do it there. The sicarios recruit another new guy to help.

Quintana is working on the security of Galán on his visit. Luis picks a new guy, César Gavrila, to be either his spokesman or running mate. The family (Gloria does much of the strategizing) likes him because he has no presidential aspirations.

Chili pulls a gun on a guy, I think an off duty cop, and says you’ll help us kill Quintana, or we’ll kill your whole family.

Adelena (Guillermo Cano’s granddaughter, now living in Spain), calls her Abuela, Ana Maria. She misses the family. Ana Maria misses her too, and later visits her husband’s grave.

Pati and the kids come visit Pablo at his new drug lab, being built. He’s really mad about this. After giving the kids masks to wear, he berates Pati, what were you thinking, bringing them here? Well, can’t they know what their Dad does for a living? she retorts. Are you hiding something? They have no friends, their life is crazy. You’ve got to get rid of this drug business, and we should all just leave the country and start over. Pablo responds, I have to keep fighting for my ideals. (Gag me with a spoon!)

BTW, thanks Deb, for the background info.

PABLO ESCOBAR -- martes

Thanks so much for the latest recap. I really appreciate all the help I can get with this one.

So now we know that Galan's creepy bodyguard IS indeed one of the bad guys on the cartel payroll. And the phone call to the new apartment lets the family know that by moving, they have accomplished nothing. This is so painful to watch ...

The guy Chili threatened in the street is Quintana's personal bodyguard, the one who just told his boss that he would stick with him to the end. But that was before Escobar's dogs threatened to kill his family, starting with his daughters, unless he handed over Quintana. Ugh.

Even evil Enelia looks good compared to Pablo these days. She wants Pablo to make peace with Galan since, let's face it, he's going to be president and he's going to extradite all of the boys. Pablo agrees to take care of the Galan problem, but not precisely the way Enelia envisions.

The new guy, another Jason, is a 'roquetazo' specialist. It sounds like they are planning to take down Galan as well as a huge number of innocents around him. Can Quintana's plans to protect Galan stand up to a bombing?

There was so much attention paid to Guillermo's widow in this episode that it made me very worried about her fate and the fate of the paper.

In fact a lot of this episode felt like a memorial.

Pablo Escobar -

thanks so much for the recap Hombre !!!

I too was thinking that the guy Chili pulled the gun on was one of Quintana's main guys, where earlier he asked about him having a family and all, and the guy said something like no problem, he would guard Quintana with his life, but wow, Chile sure turned that whole thing around. (that actor is amazing with those glassy eyes and that psycho smile)

at Guillermo's grave I was looking through the flowers to see if someone left him a pack of cigarettes.

didn't Pablos kids look cute, sitting on a bench like bumps on a log, in the cocaine factory with their oversized designer black dust masks on. (the production crew that is making this novela are really creative, with what now is probably a limited budget, with so many locations, scenes, and extras, they sure know how to make a simple statement).

thanks for your comments as well NovelaMaven, yes, there sure doesn't seem to be a lot of surprises in this story, as if it was written from the viewpoint that we all know the main facts, but even knowing a guy is probably going to die, it still hurts, how do they do that?

CORAZÓN VALIENTE-
The recap of Monday's capitulo is coming. I'm running a little late.

PABLO ESCOBAR

Thanks, Hombre, excellent recap. That guy Galán was SO charismatic. The actor portraying him is doing a good job, but when they show actual scenes of his speeches, his personality jumps off the screen.

In "Killing Pablo" the book emphasizes how extremely popular Galán was. In Colombia there was a period of time 1948 to 1958 called La Violencia. It started when Jorge Gaitán, a Liberal Party candidate, was assassinated in Bogotá in April 1948. Rioting in that city lasted for ten hours and 5,000 people died. A nationwide civil war ensued.

In "Killing Pablo" the author postulates that many Colombians saw Galán as almost the "second coming" of their murdered hero so many years ago.

I'm with you on the "gag me with a spoon" reaction, Hombre. It's sickening when Escobar the miserable SOB acts like he's somehow a hero of Colombia.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 1

At the church, Miggy is concerned because FF has not shown up and he goes off to look for her. We see him driving for what appears to be a long time to get the cabaña. [How was FF supposed to get to the church if it was that far away? Do they have 2 cars?] Meanwhile EV has called FF. He tells her that if she wants Miggy to stay alive, she must not get married and she must stay away from him. He says that she has a choice – him or nobody. FF hangs up and says that her choice is Miggy.

Clara tells Sam that she was working as as cleaning person in the clinic where Lorena worked. Lorena knew that she needed money to pay for medical care fore her father and Clara ultimately agreed to be a surrogate and was implanted with Sam and Willy’s embryo. She tells Sam that she never knew who the biological parents were. On hearing all this, Sam becomes very emotional.

Back at the house, Willy is worried. He tells Nora that Sam isn’t aware of the risks to her pregnancy. Then Willy gets the bad feeling in his heart indicating that a loved one is in danger.

Angie finds Génesis playing sad tunes on the piano. Génesis, too, has a bad feeling in her heart that her dad isn’t coming back from Colombia.

Sam tells Clara that now she understands why she has such strong feelings for the baby.

Miggy gets the bad feeling in his heart while driving back to the cabaña. FF is writing him a note saying that she loves him too much. She leaves. Miggy arrives and is reading the note when 2 bad guys come in. Miggy defeats them, of course.

Sam tells Clara that she is sure that D8D has known about this all along and that it is all part of some plan of his to get her. Clara tries to defend D8D saying that he didn’t know who the baby’s parents were at the beginning. Then D8D shows up. Sam reams him out a new one and hits him. D8D tells her that he will fight to keep the baby. Sam runs out.

The Reptile asks EV to help her with her Plan of Vengeance against JM. He agrees.

Gustavo gives JM the names of some of his contacts in Colombia. JM seems surprised that Gustavo is helping him. Gus replies that he is doing it because of his love for Angie even though he knows that she loves JM. He loves Angie but her not wanting to have his child is a deal breaker.

FF is at the airport looking for the first plane out of Ushuaia.

Sam calls Willy. She doesn’t tell him what Clara told her [of course] but says that she has something very important to tell him and to wait for her at home. They say that many auto accidents are caused by drivers who are very angry or very upset and so it is for Sam. She gets into a head on collision and is unconscious.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 2

Miggy comes looking for FF at the airport. She vaults behind the counter and tells the clerk a story about cheating on her boyfriend to get her help.

Nic tells Willy that he loves Jessica but he is also angry that she left him for her father. He says that he will never love again. Willy tells him how life changing a love like his for Sam can be. This is intercut with scenes of Sam being loaded into an ambulance.

Laura tells Angie that she is following JM to Colombia. Someone needs to protect the dumbo [she doesn’t say that, of course] and she doesn’t have any any children (unlike Angie). She's not afraid of EV or the Reptile.

Miggy is searching for FF in the airport when two guys ask him to come with them [They don’t show any id that I could see.]

After Miggy is gone, FF stands up behind the airline counter and the phone starts ringing. She picks it up and it’s EV. He reminds her that he won’t kill Miggy if she lives up to her promise. FF replies that she hasn’t promised anything.

Jéssica ask EV for permission to call Nic. He gives her a phone but the line is busy [Nora is getting the call about Sam. Is Nic is the only teenager in the world who doesn’t have his own cellphone?]

EV tells Jéssica that he has great plans for her future. She asks and he tells her that his gran amor is FF.

Nora tells Willy about Sam’s accident and he goes crazy.

Miggy calls Angie and asks her not to let FF go back into the Army.

Clara tells D8D that they should give Sam’s baby to her. D8D says that will never happen. He is capable of anything to keep the baby. Clara tells him that her Dad is circling the drain and maybe she’ll leave too.

They guys who tried to attack Miggy are tied up in the cabaña. After failing to find FF at the airport, Miggy goes back there. There’s a knock on the door. It’s the guy in the neighboring cabaña with a phone. It’s FF calling. She tells Miggy that she is going back into the army. She tries to tell Miggy that she is too young to have a baby and doesn’t really love him but she can’t pull it off. She admits to Miggy that it was EV whose threats caused her flee.

Willy tells Nic and Nora that Sam is in a bad way. She has a serious head trauma. The doctors are trying to save her and the baby. Nic is bummed to possibly lose another mother.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – martes – Part 3

JM is in Colombia. He has no difficulty recognizing Laura’s disguise.

The Reptile thanks EV for his wonderful plan for JM. Rosario/Ofélia tells them that the folks in the village have reported that Maria/Laura is there. Jéssica overhears, runs to EV, calls him “papa” and asks him to bring Laura to the house. EV is totally overcome and is weeping at being called “papa” by someone. Her wish is his command.

JM tells Laura that he is going take care of his Reptile problem solo.

Miggy drags the two bad guys who attacked him to the forest and demands that they tell him where EV is. They refuse. Miggy releases them and tells them to run. They do – one into a leg trap and the other into something that suspends him upside down. .

At the hospital, Willy can’t understand how Sam crashed her car. She is such a good driver. He mentions that she told him she needed to tell him something. He swears that if he finds out that D8D is responsible for this, he will kill him with his bare hands.

D8D chews out Rodrigo for sitting around all day drinking and not working. Rodrigo complains that D8D doesn’t understand what it is to love. D8D is not sympathetic.

Miggy tortures the bad guys to tell him where EV is. He sends pictures of them to EV and then calls. He warns EV that he can kidnap FF but when she looks at him, she will be thinking of Miggy. That makes EV angry.

Willy tells the unconscious Sam that she must fight. Without her, he is nothing. Angie comes in and passes along the information from the doctors that they are going to do a C-section on Sam to try and save the baby but that Sam is dying.

CORAZON VALIENTE
Dear Jean,Thank you so much for the great recap, such as you , it was strange to me that the way to the church was ver far way!! even if Verdugo didn't call , Fabiola was late before!!!

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Thanks for another super recap, Jean. At times this show is almost like a cartoon, with characters popping up instantly a continent away, or taking forever to get a short distance. Miggy's antics are definitely cartoonish, even when we don't see them (such as how he got those two thugs tied up, or set up the bear trap and the rope trap). He then wanted them to tell where Verdugo was. But didn't he appear at FF's door near the end of the episode? Maybe I dreamed that.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Thanks, Jean, for the great recap. Yep, there were some strange goings on last night. The bear trap might have been the most over the top thing we've seen yet.

Hombre, FF did show up at Fabiola's hotel room in Buenos Aires. And how the heck did he know which hotel? They fell into each other's arms, so I doubt she's really going back to the army.

And do they really expect us to believe they'll take Sam's baby at six months and she'll die? Please.

I do NOT see how D8D thinks he stands a chance of keeping the baby. DNA tests will prove who the parents are, and Clara will testify that Lorena inseminated her.

It seems like they're setting up Laura to die saving JM. But, if either EV or the Reptile kills or tries to kill her, EV will lose all the ground he's gained with Jessica.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – miécoles – Part 1

Tighten your beanies, folks. This was a wild one.

Willy begs Sam to wake up. He begs the doctors to do something for Sam.

After a joyful reunion hug, Miggy says that he is mad at FF. She asks how he found her. He replies that he checked on hotels near the airport in BA. There weren’t many. Miggy asks FF why they aren’t husband and wife.

Miggy tells FF that she can’t keep running away from him. FF tells Miggy that if he is with her, he is in danger. He should leave her. Miggy replies that he will never do that.

JM, the incredible idiot, goes to see a spiritualist to find out where “Doña Victoria” is. He lets himself be persuaded to drink a cup of coffee so that the medium can look at the coffee grounds. The coffee is drugged, of course. Meanwhile, Laura is sneaking around outside the house where JM is. Three guys jump her and knock her out. So much for JM’s plan to resolve his problems with the Reptile and Laura’s determination to protect him. What were they thinking going alone into EV’s stronghold?

D8D tells Clara that she should have kept quiet about the baby’s biological parents. If she had, Sam would be with her baby and he and Clara would be with thiers. But Clara had to blab and now Sam is dying. Clara says to D8D, “You too are dying without her,” and D8D agrees.

The doctors tell Willy that he has to be patient. They are doing tests and trying to help Sam and the baby. Willy says that he doesn’t need patience – he has faith in God.

Willy swears to Nic that Sam won’t die. D8D arrives at the hospital. Willy asks what he is doing there. When D8D replies that he loves Sam, too, Willy tries to attack him.

FF asks Miggy why she can’t go back to the army. Miggy replies that he can’t live without her.

Gus has consulted with the doctors and reports to Willy and Nora that the doctors won’t do a C-section on Sam right away. They will wait and see if she responds. The longer they can wait, the better for the baby.

Miggy finally agrees that FF can go back to the army but not for too long and when she gets out, they will change their identities and move somewhere far away. Miggy has brought FF’s wedding dress to BA. We cut to Miggy and FF in a church.

An unconscious JM is brought into the Reptile’s room.

Willy goes to Sam’s room in the hospital where she is not intubated. He tells her that he knows she is fighting for herself and for the baby. Sam reacts – she says, “Our baby…” and gets agitated.

Miggy and FF exchange vows and rings in a church but without a priest.

Laura is brought to EV. When she mentions that his guys knocked her out, EV demands to know who did it and kills him on the spot.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE – miécoles – Part 2

JM wakes up on the Reptile’s bed. She tells him that she has changed. She is now the beloved Doña Victoria of the pueblo.

Camilo asks Clara why she is crying all the time. She says that she is a bad person and no one cares about her. Naturally, Camilo replies that he cares about her and kisses her.

Angie is concerned that JM won’t answer the phone or respond to her messages.

Willy tells Gus and Angie that Sam spoke to him.

Miggy calls Gus and is told about Sam’s accident. Gus hands the phone to Willy who tells him that Sam in intubated again and is in a profound coma.

We see the Reptile in her leopard-print underwear astride a semi-conscious JM. The Reptile calls False Ofélia and she brings in a syringe with which she injects JM.

Jéssica is happy to see her mother but EV says that she can’t stay.

D8D goes into Sam’s room. He says that he knows that she hates him but he still loves her. She has made him hate his son. He grabs her breathing tube saying that there is an easy way to end this nightmare obsession. At that moment, Willy comes in and tells D8D to leave.

Then it’s ONE MONTH LATER

Sam is still in a coma. Willy has been with her all the time. Nora comes in and tells him that they are going to do the C-section on Sam. The baby can’t wait any longer.

The Reptile is talking to Lucy the cat. She says that she misses JM. EV comes in and tells her that Angie has just arrived in the village – with Miggy. Miggy tells Angie that he could come with her because FF is in the army but she we leave soon. [A one-month elistment – things are different in the all-women army]. Miggy gets a call from FF. She is in combat(!) but has been allowed to call him from the battlefield. There is an explosion.

Angie only fares a little better than Laura did against the three guys who jump her. When they attack her one a time, she defeats them but when they act together, they get her. At least she isn’t stupid enough to drink drugged coffee.

Back in LA, Gus tells Laura that he is worried about her. [So Laura just came back without JM and everyone has just been twiddling their thumbs for a month?] Gus tells Laura that he thinks that JM is dead.

Sam is in surgery. Willy gets to cut the umbilical cord of his son. He asks the doctors why the baby isn’t crying.

Clara’s father has finally died. The honeymoon between Clara and D8D is definitely over. She complains that he is nice to her one day and nasty the next. Clara is sure that someday Bernadita will be returned to her biological parents. D8D threatens to kill Clara if she blabs about that. Camilo points a gun at D8D and says that he will kill D8D first.

EV calls Miggy and tells him that he has Angie and if Miggy wants her back, he should come for her.

Angie is taken to the Reptile’s room. The Reptile shows her an urn that she says contain JM’s ashes.

PABLO ESCOBAR, Miércoles, Part 1

You all probably know this, but I looked it up, and learned that Medellín is the capital city of the Department of Antioquia (Colombia has 32 departments, so I guess they’re like our “states”).

August 4, 1989: Galán discusses his security with Quintana. Galán is getting ready for his open air speech, Quintana is going the University of Antioquia to check out security there. Quintana notices that Piniera, his personal bodyguard, who, as you all pointed out, was threatened by Chili, looks scared. What’s wrong, my friend? Piniera says it’s a family problem.

We see Chili and crew atop a building overlooking the University entrance. Chili has a bazooka. Quintana and several police cars pull up, dozens of soldiers get out, it’s high security. But just before Chili can do anything, a lady from a rooftop higher up sees these suspicious characters and calls the police. They immediately relay this to Quintana, who heads right towards Chili and the guys. The guys panic, drop the bazooka, and escape. Quintana is shocked they would try to fire a rocket on him. He calls Galán’s team, get him out of the city. Now. Sebastian tells Galán there was an assassination attempt, we’re going back to Bogotá.

Once again, Pablo is livid. This is what you get for poor planning. Chili, you failed me. Chili nervously says, Boss, I swear on my sister’s life, on my dead mother’s soul, I’ll kill Quintana.

Quintana recommends to Galán he stay away from Medellín, it’s too hot. Holding his rosary, Quintana tells Galán to be careful in any public appearance. But we see that Galán keeps speaking. We see several rallies with many signs for Galán and Gonzales (actual name of his running mate). Luis says he’ll help the most vulnerable, the women and old people of the countryside. (I’ve noticed there are many strong women in this show, including Enelia, Pati, Ana Maria, Gloria, Regina and Niki).

PABLO ESCOBAR Part 2

August 17th (I hate when they have those dates, you know something is going to happen, usually something bad). Piniera is eating a meal with his wife. They love each other, but she knows something is wrong. He just says he loves her. The phone rings. It’s Chili. Tomorrow morning is the time. You’d better do what I told you! Cut to Pablo, reassuring Mariachi, tomorrow is the day. We have people infiltrating the police and the bodyguards. It can’t fail.

Soacha: Soldiers tell someone working on a roof not to leave. Ernesto talks to his Dad, who tells him, concentrate on your career. Oswaldo has a delicious but tense meal with his wife.

August 18th: Luis has a conference today. He talks warmly to his three sons. Cut to the sicarios, handing out long range rifles, assault weapons, grenades. Everything has been perfectly calculated.

Oswaldo Quintana kisses his wife, gets in the car with Piniera. We see that son Ernesto is jogging. Quintana sees Piniera’s nervousness, can I help? Piniera says he had a family problem. He doesn’t know if he did the right thing. Quintana tells him to follow his heart. Piniera says he wishes he could have been as noble a person as Quintana, he says forgive me, for not being on your level.

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

PABLO ESCOBAR -- miércoles

Thanks so much Hombre. You really capture the angst and horror. Ugh.

Real world note: Anyone thinking that Colombia's troubles ended with Escobar's death hasn't been paying attention. Yesterday the papers were full of stories about the government sitting down with the rebel forces (FARC) to try to negotiate an end to what seems like an endless civil war. Just one example of the coverage:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-19994289

CORAZON VALIENTE:

Great recap, Jean. Yes, quite an episode. I wonder which army FF is even in. Didn't she live her entire life in Colombia until a few months ago? But I guess it's the US women's army, who are in the middle of "the war".

Yes, JM the idiot. He told the medium he didn't believe in her powers, then drank the coffee anyway. I almost wish those WERE his ashes, but the whole show wouldn't make sense it he was dead (Wait a minute. Does the show actually make sense anyway?). Maybe he's just drugged down in the basement or something.

Since both Laura and Angie couldn't beat three thugs individually, they should have come together. For that matter, since Angie and Miggy were together, why didn't they stay together in approaching the hideout? For that matter, why am I asking these dumb questions?

After killing the guard who hit Laura, EV said "dogs don't deserve to live." Well, look in the mirror, buddy.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

First-class recap, Jean!

What ever happened to EV's saying that anyone who sees his face has to die? Now he doesn't wear the mask at all, and all the lower-level thugs know what he looks like.

D8D came up with the classic stuff that male abusers and stalkers always come up with. He said Sam "made him" dislike his son. She "made him" be obsessive over her. It drives me crazy when men say this about women who have zero interest in them.

I can hardly wait to see what will happen with Camilo having basically outed himself as caring about Clara by pulling a gun on D8D.

Yeah, the coffee drinking was the height of stupidity. Of course he's not dead.

But they had some red herrings; such as, EV asking the Reptile if she was going to do the same thing to Ángela as she did to JM.

Fabiola is in Afghanistan? I can almost see the writers sitting around with gallons of coffee needing to keep this shark moving through the water.

Can we kick around D8D's insane, compulsive desire to keep the baby? Is there the tiniest, remote possibility that he has come to love the child? Nah. So, is it that he thinks that if he has the child as bait, Sam will come to him? Or, as he's said a time or two, is it totally revenge on Sam because she won't come to him? What say you?

I was thinking that maybe the Reptile has turned JM into a drug addict, injecting him with heroin against his will, perhaps thinking he'd jump her bones for a fix.

PABLO ESCOBAR

Hombre, thanks so much for the recap. I agree. Nooooooo!

Escobar has become impossible to watch. He rants on in that odd, staccato voice of his and I feel like muting the TV. Kudos to the actor, though.

It's very sad watching Galán and Quintana with their families.

I'm pretty sure the worm is going to turn a bit for Pablo Escobar fairly soon.

Corazon Valiente -

great recap Jean !!!

I wonder if Miggy will go to Afghanistan and take care of those bad guys as well. Did anyone see Dame Chocolate where the nurses there wore mini-burqas in pastel colors?

of course Angela did better with the bad guys than Laura, they were afraid to hit her.

I too am thinking JiM (i for idiot), is our new Alejandra druggy, all the while saying to himself "how could I be so stupid". (has this guy ever had a successful idea?) anyway I am actually enjoying JM and Angela together as I now see them as two dyslexic people striving to be normal.

I guess the moral here is to never let anyone tell you a secret that will ruin the story, cause it's coma, amnesia, or worse, for sure.

CORAZÓN VALIENTE

Deb, so funny!

I think your remark about never letting anyone tell you a secret that could ruin the story [let all the cats out of the bag] is deserving of being on the sidebar.

CORAZON VALIENTE

Thank you for the recap. I can't seem to watch this while Sam is stuck in a bed.

Couldn't they have done a better job with Angela's stunt person in the fight scene. The stunt person looked huge to me. It impacted me because I had just said to myself finally the Angela that should have been all along.

Missed JM drinking the coffee, I can hear Homer Simpson saying "duoh".

I figure this TN maybe has 5-6 more weeks, the new Uni TN begins November 7th, and I am sure that's when Telmundo will want us to stayed glued to this instead of switching??

CORAZON VALIENTE-

LOL Deb:

of course Angela did better with the bad guys than Laura, they were afraid to hit her.

I don't understand D8D's obsession with the baby. I think it is more about getting back at Sam for rejecting him and Willy for having Sam's love than anything else. I don't think he really thinks he can get Sam but who knows.

I noticed that EV had stopped wearing his mask, too. Poor Alexandra died just for looking at him and now everyone can see him. But it didn't make sense even before. Who were all the guys with EV when was pretending to be the DEA guy? Who did they think Javier was especially when they all went back to Colombia? But I'm not complaining - I hated the mask.

Rosa Diamante - wed 17oct12

hmm, this is actually getting better as it goes along,

Rosa, in jail, and in desperation has revealed to JI that he is the father of Eduardito, that Eva is the mother, as well as trying to explain to JI, in his whirling confusion, who Eva was.

of course he doesn't believe a word she says and rushes over to the good doctor Antonio, who promptly hands him all of the DNA evidence. Everything that comes out of JI's mouth is an explanation of how evil Rosa is, the doctor asks him not to be so hard on her.

next JI rushes over to see the good Padre who looks relieved that these crazy people are finally sharing some of their secrets.

Barbie baby is busy scaring the daylights out of everyone, myself included, by threatening to adopt Eduardito.

JI then stops by the Sotomayor mansion with a present, he is greeted by Barbie who is so pleased that her plans are working so well,
"a present for me?",
"no, it's for Eduardito, my son"
"who, What ???"

so now, the only thing that is not revealed is 'who really is Rosa Puentes?',
but there isn't anyone that knows that whole story,
except for maybe Raquel who seems to fall into a trance speaking in a cryptic tongue when it comes to deep subjects, and has made a career out of not revealing anything from earlier than breakfast.

Margaret has tricked Rosaura into signing her shares over to Rodolfo who has appointed himself president of the company.

Lu, on her way to spain, skipped the airplane and moved in with Martin

Maria Corina, Barbie's best friend and spiritual advisor, has slithered into Acua looking for a job.

Current events -

I hope nobody minds if I ramble during the novela vacations.

I saw "La Patrona" muy pronto tonight, and there are indications that they have started filming, I guess the question is what will it replace?

I checked on Pablo Escobar, last night was epi 93 in colombia and still going, we are at epi 71.
Corazon Valiente is at epi 156.
and Rosa Diamante is just out of the chute.

wow, if it replaces CV, maybe they are killing off the big guys!

btw let me repost something on 'Pablo Escobar: El Patrón del Mal' from wiki ,this time with the spoilers removed, since we now know who's who.

"The series was created by Camilo Cano, son of Guillermo Cano, publisher of newspaper El Espectador and murdered by Escobar in December 1986, and Juana Uribe, vice president of Caracol TV, who is also the series producer; she's daughter to Maruja Pachón, kidnapped on Escobar's orders, and niece to presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán, blank, blank, blank, blank.

whoa, they are also now listing Tiberio Cruz in the cast of Pablo !!!

The next biggy by Telemundo looks like "El Señor de los Cielos" starring Rafael Amaya.

rumored to be,
"Telemundo's biggest-budget production to date. Based on actual events, Amaya will portray the powerful drug dealer Damian Torres, who undergoes facial reconstruction while planning to disappear with his family and start a new life and avoid capture. Production starts next year in Mexico."
ref: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118060638?refCatId=13

recorded in Los Ángeles, México, Miami, Bogotá y Medellín.

I've heard is that this will air in January and will be 60 episodes. Also this is a co production with Caracol, which is what Pablo is, so wow, maybe we will be looking at this same production crew.
(can you picture Chili walking out of the smoke and putting his arm around the pretty girl. yikes!)

GENERAL

Thanks, Deb, for all your research on upcoming telenovelas.

Tiberio Cruz! I'm mad for that guy!

Another narconovela?

The one with Amaya sounds interesting, but I've started to wonder about Telemundo's preocupation with drug trafficking.

It's featured in both Corazón Valiente and Pablo Escobar that I'm currently watching.

There was some drug trafficking also in Flor Salvaje, as the main villain was a major narco.

I don't like the very youthful, romantic ones and prefer more drama. So maybe that's where Telemundo writers create drama.

I haven't been watching any Univisión novelas in a long while. I have a sense that there's not much narco stuff. Maybe it's too close to the bone in México to risk showing it.
