Por ella soy Eva #70 10/23/12: Helena and Eva Continue to Stall as Their Suitors Press Forward

I missed the very beginning.

In the "office of two childish boys and one competent woman" Santi and Fer, that useless duo, are (of course) doing nothing while Marcela works. The atmosphere is icy. Renato brings in papers. Fer wants to grab them but Adri has sent them straight to Marcela. Santi first pouts at Renato and later pounds on him (ineffectively) because of his "friendship" with Angelica. Eva breaks it up: "Listen, you animals, go ahead and break each other's noses, but not at work, or I'll adjust both of you." Later: "Santi, you've never been aggressive, what's up? I can help. I believe in your abilities, more than you think."

Product placement for cellphones. Eva sets up an appointment for Silvia. Rebe chuckles: "Snow White is going to get a poison apple."

Pluto calls Helena to his office. Eva vainly tries to keep her from going. S/he thought-bubbles: "Don't shout, don't run after her. But how I'd like to send Plutarcho to his grandmother's refrigerator!"

Mimi brings her advantages into Adri's office. He looks away -- my son has trained his dog to do the same thing when bits of hotdog are waved at him. Mimi leans right over Adri and shows him her (product placement) Blackberry. Sweating profusely, he sends her away.

In his office, Pluto doesn't want to hear about the second stage of construction at the beach, he just wants to squeeze Helena. They kiss.

Mimi reports to Eva that her attempts to seduce Adri are failing. "He has no eyes for anyone but Eva," complains Juan Carlos, who then commences shouting about Helena and Pluto.

Fer tries a red rose to cheer Marcela. He also admits his macho nature is humiliated. She looks amused. He goes on his knees and asks her to look over his work: "I'll accept corrections with no resentment." She is somewhat mollified.

Plu and Helena are still kissing. She likes his compliments. He presses forward: "But if you don't want to make love with me, I'll try to understand." She stalls but reluctantly agrees to a dinner muy romantico that night. "I can't promise anything. I want to be alone with you and be embraced, but don't be importunate, I beg you."

Eva knocks Rebeca over. After joking around s/he leaves whistling - Rebeca remembers someone whistling just like this long ago - Juan Carlos!

Adri growls compliments at Eva: "You radiant beauty, you statuesque Greek statue, you." "Don't be a clown." Eva wants those fired women rehired. Adri just wants kisses. Mimi comes in, Eva insists that she stay, Adri wants her to leave. Heh.

Fer is doing nothing in the office of useless boys. Marcela comes in with his report, she's marked up his many mistakes. He deems them unimportant details and whines. She points out he even misspelled "playa."

Lucia senses Helena's hesitation about the night of love and predicts that if she just "lets it flow" nature will take its course.

Co-dependents Anonymous! Silvia gets a good public service announcement re: not allowing people to be awful to you. Silvia admits she's wanted to call Ed and the lady says: "we all understand about being attached to creepy jerks."

Speaking of creepy jerks: Oh, Ed, you have crushed cheese doodles all over the table! Blegh! Pluto comes to visit but refuses to sit down - he probably thinks he'll get rancid jelly donut stains on his aluminum pants. "I've come to tell you I am beginning a serious relationship with Helena." "Fine, I don't care - but if you marry her, don't come to me with complaints if she is as rotten a wife as her mother is."

Rebe dances and skips down the street with a precious little bottle of rat poison in a tiny cute gift bag.

Lucia is so pathetic, she wants to stay late and help Renato with his last-minute improvements on the report due first thing next day. He allows her to stay.

Adri tells Helena it's fine with him that she is having a relationship with his once-brother-in-law. "We men are not made to be alone for long. You're a grand woman with all my respect and support."

Rebe shows up at the desk at Pluto's hotel and is cheerily escorted upstairs to see the preparations for the romantic dinner. The receptionist leaves and Rebe thought-bubbles: "We'll freeze your hypocritical smile with THIS RAT POISON, Plutarcho!" She injects it into the wine bottle. "This will be an unforgettable night!"

Tomorrow: Mimi and Juan dress like bandits and break into Pluto's house.

Terrific recap, Melinama! My favorite line: "rancid jelly donut stains on his aluminum pants." ROTFL!

Jeanne (still on the road)

"Rebe shows up at the desk at Pluto's hotel and is cheerily escorted upstairs to see the preparations for the romantic dinner. "

Are they just a tad lax on guest security measures, or what?

Jeanne

These hotels are no more secure than hospitals! "Yes, come on in with your RAT POISON."

Another great one, Melinama. I'm with Jeanne on the favorite line featuring Pluti's aluminum pants.
I also cracked up at the mashed cheese doodles and other mess in Bastardo's house.

I'm starting to keep track of how many ways Onesimo can mess up a necktie.

Helena's asking for trouble, accepting Pluti's invite for a romantic evening. Fortunately, Rebe has plans to ruin it.

La Paloma

Aaaaarrrrggghhh! That Darn Plutarco!
Can't he be found out ALREADY!

I just can't believe Helena allowed herself o be drawn into his web.

~AMOR

AMOR, he can't be found out for about another 95 episodes. It's the law of Telenovelaland. We can dream, though.

Melinama, hospitals occurred to me immediately, too. Obviously, the personnel in both go to the same professional development opportunities.

Jeanne

I agree. Elena is smarter than this. I wonder if she is pushing herself into a relationship by the needs of her son to have a father figure Her facial expressions with every "Plutarcho-kiss" say "Yuck! this guy's a dork!" Yet she is being drawn in. Dang!,,,

La Paloma- re: Onésimo messing up ties--ROTFL!

Jeanne

Melinama thank you for this fab recap. I join all the others that love the line about the jelly donut stains on Pluti's aluminum pants, lol. I love how you talk about Mimi's "advantages" lol. She is so into Adri.

I think I know what Renato is up to. He is always in Marcela, Santi and Fern's office. I think he is on a mission of divide and conquer. He wants so badly to be a boss of that Playa project. Now if he is in fact, Juan's half-brother, then maybe he wants to complete what his brother couldn't. Just a thought. I don't think he liked Juan much.

So Rebe injected the poison into the wine bottle. I fear for Helena too, cause in the advances she is drinking wine, ay yi yi. I don't care is Pluti gets seriously ill from that wine, but not poor Helena.

Can't stand Bastardo. That house is a wreck and a ruin. Pretty soon the mice will move in and the bugs. He'll have plenty of unsavory company, yuk.

Glad Eva referred Silvia to the agency. I am so glad Silvia is moving forward and not backward. That is a good sign. That lady was very good to Silvia and gave her good advice.

I still think Onesimo's tie came from the big and tall men's shop. That tie so wasn't made for a man his height. It looks like it was made for the Jolly Green Giant.

Lucia is just hopeless. I wish she would just see for once that Mousse Boy Renato is so NOT into her.

Fern has a long way to go. I couldn't stand that he grabbed that file out of Mousse Boy's hands. Glad that Marcela is head of that office, cause nothing would ever get done if Fern or Santi were in charge.

I think that bottle said "cianuro" = cyanide. It was green too. Looks like instant death from a sip to me! considering the deadly poison, I thought Rebeca was remarkably casual in how she handled it - she should have pricked her finger!

Still, I love that Rebeca is on the warpath with respect to sleazy Pluto.

Thanks again Melinama. I also loved the jelly stains on aluminum pants remark.

"he probably thinks he'll get rancid jelly donut stains on his aluminum pants. " Ah, I see y'all got to that great quote before I did. Still, Melinama...that's sidebar material.

Also loved your observation about Adriana's eye control (vis a vis Mimi's "advantages" like your son's dog trained to avert his eyes from a wiener.

Audrey..I too noticed "cianuro". As I understand it (from my scientific Agatha Christie notes) cyanide is instant death...no? Not sure how this is going to play out.

Thanks Melinama...two great recaps in a row.

Audrey--Rebeca is smart but she's no chemist, clearly. Good point about the handling of that stuff.

Jeanne

JudyB, exactly--cyanide is reputedly fast and "invisible." Looks like a major heart attack, as I understand it. So here's the scenario: two people drink red wine at the same time and die of massive, sudden heart attacks. No one suspects, right? Not. Rebeca is really a clever dunce.

Jeanne

Schoolmarm--it is sooo great to have you back on line again. You have no idea how much we all have missed you. Hooray!

The lady from the codependency center, I suspect she was not an actress but an actual representative from that organization making their pitch. Though her acting was good, she didn't have a Televisa face. In Tontas (AKA Disorder of the Day) they sometimes used actual workers in the appropriate field as well.

Every time Eva leaves Adri's office, she says "Don't look!" and Adri complies. So when Mimi leaves, she swings her cargo and lets Adri stare as much as he likes - which is very much!

I thought the same thing about the lady at the co-dependant center, Paula. She didn't have a Televisa face nor that way of carrying oneself that professional actors seem to have. But nice to see "real people" have a chance to add their part to this telenovela.

Thanks, Melinama, for the double duty. I laughed out loud at your description of Pluto in Bastardo's messy house... and at Madelaine's description of his unsavory company.

I think Lucero is doing a terrific job at playing a conflicted Helena- you can feel her hesitancy even as she tries to hide it. Poor Pluti. Unlucky in love.

Thanks Melinama! I loved all your comments, but maybe the hot dog one the best. Poor Adri does look like a puppy dog trying to control himself.

The Renato story line is becoming more and more complicated.

So it was cyanide in that little bag Rebecca had that looked like it came from Tiffany's?

JudyB, it's great to be back, and this time I think it will stick. I owe you a couple of emails, too. ;-)

Jeanne

By the way, folks, I think it's pretty clever how the wardrobers are using sharkskin on Pluto all the time. Can't think of anything more appropriate.

It used to be one of my favorite fabrics. Not so much now....

Jeanne

Melinama - Thanks. Add me to the list on Pluto's aluminum pants, Mimi's advantages, and hotdogs. Also liked this gem: "...in the office of useless boys."

Poor Silvia. I've never seen Bastardo say two nice words to her, so I can't imagine what she thinks he'll say if she calls him. I know - going cold turkey off Bastardo is tough. Seeing him surrounded by garbage never gets old for me.

I can see why Helena wants to force it with Pluto. She can't sit around dreaming about dead JC all the time and Pluto is attentive, handsome, and (fake) likes her son. Can't wait to see what happens with the wine.

Is that what it's called, sharkskin? I've never seen such shiny suits. They do seem to fit Marcelo (Pluti) very well.......

Loved it, Melinama. Thank you. I liked the hot dog comment the best, myself.

I've been in so much suspense about tonight's episode that I feel like this day has been going on for a hundred years. And still more than two more hours to go!

Yep, Audrey, sharkskin. So suitable. (Pun intended).

Jeanne
